I've
been taking classes, so I haven't had much time to write in
the blog, so let me apologize again! School is almost over
for me this semester, so I'll hopefully have a little more
time to catch up on things this summer. I had two classes
this semester that involved writing weekly, more or less, in
blogs, and one was all about
videos, so I think you can see why my time was taken up,
and why I didn't really feel like writing in more blogs! I
already do try to keep up my
real-life blog, too, but it was tough. Not to mention
all of the other things
I do for the site!
Gisele, who
used to help me run the site, stopped doing that almot a
year ago, and it's still been very difficult for me to
juggle everything. I keep posting for more help, but I don't
get much. I really need someone who's willing to spend a
little time, helping
me keep the site more updated. I have to really prioritize.
Every weekday, I run the site's
daytime transcripts
and put them up. Fridays I make the temp pages for the
following week's daytime pages. Saturdays I start making the
new daytime pages four transcripts,
Best Lines,
updates and
recaps. Most
of our great daytime volunteers use a form to upload these
things, Monday-Friday, so the pages have to be ready for
them.
Then I gather the new DVD info for our
primetime news pages;
and put a few things up, like
Law and Order
News, etc. The TV
Networks
send me loads of stuff to put up, but I rarely have time to
put up much.
Sundays I use information from our latest
primetime
time news page that
Danielle
gathers and Angie
puts up, to update
appearances,
news and spoilers on the shows we cover specifically, as
well as add some videos and anything I see that needs
correcting or is missing. I finish the new pages, if I can,
and start doing the appearances from the
talk
shows. It may not sound like much, but it's a lot of
work.
Michele &
Cheryl make our newsletter for "Days
of Our Lives" news (among many other things they do),
but for some reason, when they post it, it doesn't come
through on Yahoo, so I have to
post it for them. I usually add more info from Soap
Opera Digest's tweets first. Mandy summarizes the SOD
articles from their magazine, so I post that for her late
Sunday or early Monday onto our
daytime news pages.
On Mondays, I'm usually finishing up the new pages and
appearances. Then Tuesdays through Fridays, I do
whatever else I have time for, such as doing
interviews,
posting them (sometimes transcribing them), watching new
shows and DVD's, and
writing reviews for them, and putting up articles or
late things that our other volunteers send in. The
reviews take up a lot of time.
Eva helps me by
writing some, which is great. Oh, yeah, and sometimes one of
my volunteers goes on vacation, like this week, and I try to
do their work. Danielle is gone right now so I'm making a
pitiful attempt to try to keep up on the posts to our
Primetime Chat & Forum.
I get a lot of emails from companies that want to put ads on
our
site,
but I rarely have time to even read the emails. I hope
to fix that this summer.
I have many things that volunteers have sent me that I still
need to put up, including photos from
fan events and
wallpapers. I
had to discontinue updating our
monthly DVD contest
because I've just had no time to even figure out which
prizes I owe from the past year and send them out, let alone
choose winners. I had to stop sending out the
newsletters for the
other 3 soaps, too. Maybe I can start those up again... I
feel very guilty for not being able to update the whole
site, all the time! I can only do so much. I
don't have enough time to watch all of the shows I like to
watch, either. My DVR is 94% full, and I have shows on
Netflix and Amazon that I'd really like to binge-watch!
Well, enough guilt. What have you watched lately?
Most of what I watch is fiction, but I have watched two
great HBO documentaries recently. One was "I
Am The Evidence," about all of the untested
rape kits in the country. It's shocking and sad, but at
least someone is now working on improving things. I
hope watching it doesn't make more women not report rapes. I
believe I would be thinking, "Why should I bother to report
it if they're not even going to do anything about it?"
Another good one I watched recently was
all about Garry Shandling. Filmed by Judd Apatow, who
was a good friend of his (Garry was his mentor, it sounds
like), it uses old clips and recordings of Garry, as well as
interviews with his friends, to show
you
his life and career. It's very interesting. I loved his
shows and movies. He was very funny.
Most of the shows I watch for fun are the superhero shows:
Arrow,
Gotham,
Supergirl,
Daredevil,
DC's
Legends of Tomorrow,
The Flash,
Jessica
Jones,
The
Tick,
Iron Fist, The
Gifted,
Luke Cage,
The
Defenders,
Black
Lightening,
Runaways,
and Legion.
I am way behind watching "Agents
of S.H.I.E.L.D.," but I hope one day to catch up. I did
watch "Inhumans,"
and I enjoyed it. I seem to
be in the minority on that one. I didn't like "Powerless,"
and it's canceled now (it was a sitcom and not funny). I
don't watch most of the animated shows because they're
usually too silly, too geared for kids. I did enjoy the
Justice League Unlimited,
and most of the DC straight-to-DVD movies, and a few of the
Marvel animated series (they don't seem to last very long,
for some reason). I don't know if "Cloak
and Dagger" has aired yet, but I haven't seen it yet. I
tried watching "Future
Man," but it was dumb, to me. I haven't yet seen "Krypton."
I don't consider "The
Punisher" to be a hero. I watched part of the first
episode. It's just too violent for me. I didn't grow up
reading that comic, either, so it's not something I care
that much about.
There are many other series that are based on comic books,
but I'm only talking about superhero shows here. Much
like the work on the site, I have to prioritize the shows I
watch for fun. You can
see all
of the shows I watch here. I've always loved
superheroes, but
until
fairly recently, there were only a few superhero TV shows
and movies. Besides the comic book shows, I watch some
soaps, some dramas, a few sitcoms and some comedy news
shows.
The series "McMafia"
just finished its first season on AMC. I really enjoyed it,
even though I'm not too fond of gangster movies or shows. I
just love James Norton. I'll watch him in anything,
apparently. I'm glad he doesn't do bad shows, at least. I
would prefer he do "Grantchester" for the rest of his
career, but I know...that's not realistic. (I'm ecstatic
that they renewed "Grantchester!") They did a good job
with "McMafia," and it had a pretty good ending for the
season.
"Ransom" is
not as good as it was last year, so I don't know if I'll
keep watching it. "Instinct"
is a pretty good new show. I love Alan Cumming. I've adored
him ever since I saw him in the cute movie "Bernard & The
Genie" in 1991!
Check
it out here. The show is even better now than when it
started. "Black Lightning" is another very good new
show and it has an excellent season ender. I also
really enjoyed "Legends of Tomorrow" this year, and I look
forward to seeing more of Constantine next year! That guy is
great.
Another new show I'm watching, "The
Resident," is pretty good. It started out shaky but got
better. I love the actors, and the way the story is twisting
and turning. I'm loving having "Will
& Grace" back. I don't have time to watch "Roseanne."
I watched the first two episodes. It was OK, but it's not as
funny as it used to be. I guess I don't really like how
their kids turned out, either. I always felt like Roseanne
and Dan had potential to be more successful people, but they
put it aside so they could concentrate on their family, but
then their kids would turn out better. They all seem to have
turned out worse, though. It seemed to me that, while
Roseanne and Dan were proud of being working class and hated
people looking down on them for it, they also regretted the
fact that they never had much money or education. Now they
just seem dumb and content with it, and not too upset that
their kids have gone the same route. Maybe I'm just reading
too much into a sitcom, I don't know...but anyway, it's just
not that funny. They need better writers.
I'm
glad to see "Brockmire"
is back because that show is so funny! I can't wait for the
return of "Elementary,"
too.
I just watched the last two episodes of "Suits"
for the season. I hate that Mike is leaving. To me, he's the
star of the show. The relationship between Mike and Harvey
is the heart of the show. Without Mike, why bother? Ah,
well. It just seemed like they rushed the last few episodes,
too. I enjoyed the Chicago story, but it seemed really dumb
that they had all these conversations with people
threatening them and saying illegal stuff, and they never
thought to record any of the conversations! I mean, sure,
it's illegal, but then so are a lot of
other things they do.
Many shows I like seem to be on the bubble. I hope that "Kevin
(Probably) Saves the World" is renewed. That's the one I
really have my fingers crossed for. May is usually the month
where we find out which shows are canceled or renewed!

save.
