Dylan McAvoy is a good example of bad things happening to good
people. While serving his country in Afghanistan, he lost many friends, a child
he wanted desperately to save, and his mother. He came back from war hoping to
reunite with his true love, Avery, only to find that she was engaged to Nick
Newman. A short time later, his father died. In mourning, he had a one-night
stand with Chelsea, who later found out she was pregnant with Adam's child. She
didn't want Adam involved in the baby's life, so she lied about the paternity of
the baby. She told Dylan he was the father. Dylan fell in love with Chelsea and
they married. On the same night, she gave birth. Dylan delivered the baby boy
and he fell in love again. Upon discovering that the baby, Connor, had an eye
disorder, Chelsea told Adam and Dylan the truth about his paternity. Connor was
devastated. He divorced Chelsea, and Connor officially became a Newman. As if
this wasn't enough betrayal, Nikki Newman proved that Dylan was her firstborn
son who was conceived when she was young and in a cult. This meant his adoptive
mother had lied to him and his father. It also meant that Nick was his brother
and Adam his step-brother. The only good thing for Dylan in this mess was that
he got Avery back.
In spite of how he thinks of himself, Dylan is a good man…with very bad
luck. He is a good friend to Stitch, Billy, Sharon, and Faith. Finding out
Faith is his niece was probably a bright spot in finding out he had a family he
never knew about.
Dylan bought Crimson Lights from Kevin and Chloe Fisher when he learned he
was going to be a father. Unfortunately, that means he has to face many people
in Genoa City he'd rather not see.
