Maxie: Ok, look. This defense mechanism kicked in after Spinelli had his surgery. He thinks he really is Jackal, P.I., The character from Diane's book, "The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli."
Lulu: No. He's, like, playing it up for book sales. It's harmless, a passing phase.
Spinelli: The cops on the bakery beat are on to me. I figured if I changed things up a bit--

Spinelli: Why are you spending all your time hanging around me?
Maxie: No, from living this fantasy life. Spinelli thinks he's a tough nut. He's pushing people that don't want to be pushed.
Lulu: What, like Sonny?
Maxie: Spinelli's been goading Anthony Zacchara. It's a miracle he's not at the bottom of a river.
Spinelli: So what gives? Where are the flowers, the balloons, the cake? Where's the cake coming from, sugar pants, Luzetta's?
