Pilar enters the hospital floor Theresa is on and asks a nurse in Spanish where her daughter is. The nurse, not fluent in Spanish, asks what she wants and Pilar repeats it in English, telling her who her daughter is and why she was brought in. The nurse tells her that Theresa and the baby are both doing well, but warns her that any upset could be disastrous for them both. She then directs her to Theresa’s room. Pilar stops on the way to the room and tells herself that she must not tell Theresa about Mr. Wheeler being her father, and that he is supposedly married to Mrs. Wheeler, as that could very well kill her and the baby. She enters the room and rouses her sleeping daughter. She asks why the girl didn’t tell her that something was wrong, leaving it to others to give her the news. Theresa apologizes but says that she and the baby are just fine and there was no need to bother Pilar with it. She asks her mother where she had Thanksgiving, and Pilar tells her she went to Tabitha’s with the rest of the family. Theresa asks if it was weird, and who was there, telling her she wants to hear everything. Pilar looks worried.

Beth is looking at her computer, wondering why she can’t find anything on Mrs. Wheeler before her coming to Harmony. It’s almost as if she didn’t exist before that, she says. She tells herself that she knows this woman is the key to getting Luis away from Sheridan, and wonders how she can find out who she is. Then she realizes why.

Paloma runs into Martin and Katherine on the dock. She greets them with hugs, calling them “Papa” and “Aunt”. Katherine asks where her friends are and she tells them that Maria got tired and cranky so they took her home, and Paloma is on her way to see Theresa at the hospital. Martin asks what’s wrong with his daughter. Paloma seems shocked that he didn’t hear about it, but he tells her he doesn’t hear much about his children these days. Paloma explains that something happened with her sister’s pregnancy, that a friend of Kay’s who works in the hospital called her and told her Theresa was brought into the emergency room a couple of hours before, but that she’s ok now, just staying for observation. Martin is relieved, then tries to talk Paloma into making peace with her mother. Paloma says no, she won’t do that, her mother abandoned her, etc, and Martin says that’s ok, while Katherine tells her no one is going to make her do what she doesn’t want to do. Martin offers to walk her to the hospital, but she says she will just walk there, it will be ok, then leaves. Martin remarks that she’s stubborn, and Katherine says yes, just like him. He tells her he can’t push her into reconciling with her mother, it will just make her do the opposite, and Katherine agrees, saying she hopes someday Paloma will forgive Pilar, that it must be killing the woman to know her daughter is so angry with her. He says that’s just like her and Sheridan. Katherine says at least Sheridan has Luis to love her.

At that moment, Alistair walks up to them and says “Let’s face it, how long does any love last?” Katherine says his name, and he says yes, her lawful, wedded husband. Martin asks what he wants.

As Fox watches closely, Julian tells Chad that he is there for him no matter who the father of the baby turns out to be. Chad asks why he cares since he will be the baby’s grandfather no matter who the father is. Julian says he cares, but Chad tells him he will save him the trouble of choosing sides, that there will be nothing he can do if the baby is his, a child of incest, thanks to him and Eve. Julian tells him they will figure out a way to get through it together. Fox asks if he will be there for him, too. Julian tells him that Chad is facing a completely different set of circumstances. Fox laughs and says yes, he can see that he worships the ground his bastard son walks on while he doesn’t give a darn about him, that’s the difference. Chad tells him to watch it, and he tells Chad to watch it and he has no reason to be there in the first place, but Chad says he does if the baby is his, and the two seem to want to fight each other. Julian steps between them and yells, reminding them that this is a hospital. Ivy steps in and agrees, saying the most important thing is to find out who the father of the baby is.

In the exam room, Eve tells Whitney that both Chad and Fox deserve to know Chad is the father of her baby so she’s going to tell them, but Whitney grabs her arm and says she’s not going to let her tell everyone that she‘s carrying her brother‘s baby. (commercial)

Beth realizes the reason she can’t find anything about Mrs. Wheeler, since it’s not her real name. She wonders how she can find out who she really is. She lists all the things she knows; she lived in Mexico with Martin all those years, she knew Sheridan as a baby, she tried to kill Alistair….and that gave her an idea as to how she can find out who Mrs. Wheeler really is. She realizes Alistair is the one who can tell her.

As Martin moves toward Alistair, the old man tells him to take it easy unless he wants to involve the police in this domestic matter. Martin tells him his threats mean nothing, but Alistair reminds him that he really doesn’t want Luis’ friend and ex-boss knowing who Martin’s mysterious consort is. He tells him he can hear the conversation now - “Sheridan, this is Sam Bennett. You know that Mrs. Wheeler? She’s actually your long dead Mom.” He laughs and tells them to imagine the impact that tidbit would have. Katherine says he would never tell her that, and he tells her she is exactly right. Martin says he doesn’t get it, that as badly as he wants Luis and Sheridan apart, why doesn’t he just let Katherine tell them the who she really is.

Luis tells Sheridan that he has felt married to her since their wedding in Mexico. They both remember that day and how happy they were. Back in the present, Sheridan tells him it was beautiful, but in the eyes of the law, they aren’t really married. He says he knows, and that he promised her all the bells and whistles and they will have that, a big wedding. She talks about having all their friends and family, that Father Lonigan will marry them, they’ll walk out of the church hand in hand, ready to start their life together, except none of the bad things. He agrees, telling her they will have a life of love and security. She says she can’t wait, she loves him so much. They kiss.

Theresa says “A piñata filled with blood?” Pilar tells her it wasn’t really blood, it was cranberry sauce. Theresa looks puzzled, then tells her mother to leave it to Tabitha to have the strangest Thanksgiving dinner. They both laugh at that. She asks her mother who was there. Pilar tells her Luis, Sheridan, Beth and Marty. Theresa says that must have been uncomfortable, then asks if the Wheelers were there, also, since they are so close to Luis and Sheridan. Pilar tells her they were, then moves on to say Paloma was there, and Kay and Simone. Theresa tells her she’s sorry she missed it. She talks about this being Paloma’s first Thanksgiving with the family since she was a baby, and it must have been wonderful. She tells her mother that as long as she can remember Pilar has wished to be able to spend the holidays with all her family; Paloma, Papa, Antonio.

Pilar says they will never have him there again, but Theresa reminds her that at least he came home before he died, not like her father, who deserted them and never came home. She sees the look on Pilar’s face and says she’s sorry, she knows that if he had been there it would have been the Thanksgiving of her dreams. Paloma walks in and tells her that their father was there, then asks if Pilar hadn’t told her.

Whitney tells Eve she can’t tell everyone that Chad is the father of her baby. Eve says they can’t keep a secret like that forever, that it wouldn’t be fair to Chad or Fox.. Whitney says telling them wouldn’t be fair to her baby, that it’s the only way to protect her baby, and that she can’t have the whole world knowing she’s having her brother’s baby.

Eve tells her the only thing she knows is the only way to help her baby is to tell everyone the truth and let the chips fall where they may, that they have to tell the others that she is carrying Chad’s baby. Ivy walks into the room at that moment and gives them an angry look. (commercial)

Whitney says Ivy’s name, and Eve asks if there is something she can do for her. Ivy says they can hurry up and tell her who the father of Whitney’s baby is and asks how long it takes to do a blood test and an exam. She adds that as soon as they know how far along Whitney is they’ll know who the father is. Whitney tells her she knows who the father is and it’s a complete waste of time and an insult to her. Ivy says the last thing she wants to do is insult her, but she might be the baby’s grandmother and she wants to hurry and find out. Eve tells her she won’t find out by barging in there, that if she gives her a few minutes she’ll come out and tell everyone what she’s found. Ivy says she’ll be outside with everyone else. She walks out and Eve apologizes to Whitney, saying she has to tell the truth and turns to walk out. Whitney grabs her and tells her she can’t do that, that she keeps saying she loves her. Eve tells her she loves her with all her heart, and Whitney tells her to prove it, saying if she really loves her she won’t tell anyone her secret.

Theresa asks a startled Paloma what she just said. The girl starts to tell her, but Pilar jumps up and tells her she needs to talk to her. Theresa tells her mother to wait, then asks Paloma if she just said their father had been at the Thanksgiving dinner.

Martin tells Alistair that as badly as he wants to destroy Sheridan’s relationship with Martin’s son that he would relish the thought of having her find out that Katherine is her mother. Katherine tells him Sheridan would be split between supporting her and Luis, and Martin asks why he doesn’t want her to know. Alistair asks if he must spell it out for him, and goes on to tell him to imagine the headlines in the local and national rags. He says he won’t have the family name despoiled by that kind of publicity. Katherine says that’s not it, he doesn’t care so much about protecting the family name as he does about protecting his own male pride, that he doesn’t want it known that he beat and abused her, and that she left him to save her own life.

He tells her to shut up, but Martin tells him not to talk to her that way. Alistair asks what he’ll do about it, then says it’s not about his personal pride and everything to do with company business. He reminds them that the stock market is highly volatile at the moment, and the company can’t afford negative publicity. He says they know the media as well as he does, that they will paint the two of them as victims of the big, bad, Crane machine, that he can just see them on Dr. Phil, acting frightened as they spill their guts to him on national TV. He says they should leave Harmony right away, but Martin tells him his son wants them to stay. Alistair says that’s his problem, then warns them they’d better go , that if they think suffering Luis and Pilar’s hatred is painful, they haven’t seen anything yet, then he walks away. Katherine tells Martin they both know how Alistair is and they’d better get out of town right away.

Sheridan says they will finally have the wedding of their dreams, and Luis says he’ll track down Miguel to be his best man. She asks about Antonio, and he says they’ll have him declared dead so they can marry. She asks if that doesn’t take years when there’s no body, but he tells her he thinks there’s a way to do it, that Sam can probably think of something. She asks if he’s sure, and he says yes, in a little while they’ll be walking down the aisle as legal man and wife, and they kiss, then walk away. Alistair comes around the corner, then says he doesn’t know why they are so happy, that he will do everything he can to keep them apart. He says he will even suffer the humiliation of having the world know who Katherine is, stock prices be damned.

Theresa asks if she said Papa was at Thanksgiving dinner with all of them. Paloma looks confused, but Pilar tells her of course not, that she was talking about a prayer they said over the meal during grace. Theresa says Tabitha doesn’t strike her as the grace type, but Pilar says they spoke of how much their father lived in their hearts, that it almost felt as though he were with them. Theresa says she’s sure Luis didn’t go for that one, since he feels the same way about their father as she does, that he will never forgive him for deserting them. Pilar tells Theresa that she needs to speak with Paloma alone for one minute about something that doesn’t really concern her, and pulls her youngest daughter out into the hall, causing her to yelp in pain and ask her to let go of her. Pilar tells her she’s sorry, but she had to stop her from telling her sister about their father. Paloma tells her that Theresa deserves to know that Mr. Wheeler is their father, but Pilar asks her even if it means killing her and the baby.

Alistair arrives in his office and asks his secretary about Ms. Wallace calling him there. She says yes, she’s called several times, saying she needs to speak to him directly. He laughs and wonders what she could want from him. Beth walks in then and tells him she wants to know everything he knows about Mrs. Wheeler.

Martin and Katherine arrive back at the B&B, and Katherine tells him it tears her up not to be able to tell Sheridan who she is. He says he wishes she could. She goes on to say she knows why she can’t, that it would tear Luis and Sheridan apart at a time when they need each other more than ever. He says that’s thanks to him and he wishes he’d never told Luis he was his father because it has torn everyone up.

She tells him not to blame himself, that he had done everything he needed to do ever since he arrived, but it is Alistair’s fault. He agrees, then says he almost forgot his primary reason for coming back to Harmony in the first place. She says no, he’s not talking about killing Alistair, that he can’t even think about it.

In Sam’s office, Sheridan is sitting at Sam’s desk with Luis standing beside her. Sam walks over and greets them, saying he got their message. Luis asks if he can help them to declare Antonio dead so they can get married. He asks how they go about getting a death certificate. Sam tells him to sit down, they have a problem.

Chad walks back into the waiting area reading some papers. As he passes Fox, he asks what he has there. Chad doesn’t answer, so Fox grabs them and starts to read for himself. He finds it’s about kids born to parents who are related. Chad tells him he looked it up in the hospital library while they were waiting and it talks about all kinds of problems children of incest can have, and that they have a higher incidence of birth defects. He asks what they are going to do if the baby is his.

Fox gives him a pensive look. Julian walks into the waiting area and asks Ivy what Eve had said. Ivy tells him Eve kicked her out and told her to come wait with the rest of them. She says she can tell something is wrong in there. Julian says whatever it is, Eve can handle it. Ivy tells him the tension in there is so thick you can cut it with a knife, but he says that’s not unusual considering the feelings between the two lately and then Eve just found out Whitney is pregnant. Ivy tells him it’s more than that and tells him he’ll see. In the exam room, Whitney says if Eve won’t keep the secret for her, then do it for her grandchild, that he or she hadn’t done anything wrong. Eve tells her she hadn’t done anything wrong, either, since she hadn’t known Chad was her brother. Whitney says that now that it’s happened the baby is the one who will have to suffer for it, and even if it doesn’t have anything wrong with it, he will still be treated badly by everyone who knows who his father is. She tells her mother that kids can be mean and they will tease him or worse, treat him like some circus freak. She asks her mother if that’s what she wants. Eve tells her no, and Whitney begs her not to do this, not to tell everyone that Chad is the father. She begs her not to do this to her innocent little baby. (commercial)

Fox tells Chad that there is nothing to worry about since Whitney says Fox is the father so he doesn’t have to worry about fathering a baby that has physical problems. Chad jumps on him for thinking that he is that selfish, telling him he’s only thinking about what’s best for Whitney and the baby. He says that since Fox only thinks about himself he thinks everyone else must be the same way. Fox says that’s really not what he meant, but Chad tells him it’s been his M.O. all his life. Fox says it hasn’t been that way since he met Whitney, but Chad reminds him what they say about leopards and spots, then walks away. Julian tells Ivy that Eve has been through so much lately, and if it turns out Chad is the father of Whitney’s baby she will blame herself. Ivy snarls “And the reason she shouldn’t is…”. He tells her it’s all his fault, that if he hadn’t let his father tell him what to do he would have stuck by Eve and they would have raised Chad together. She says yes, and then they wouldn’t have had to endure their painfully loveless marriage. She says she sometimes thinks Alistair is behind all the suffering that goes on in Harmony. Julian says she has that right. Ivy asks what is taking so long with Eve and Whitney.

Eve tells Whitney she still feels for her, but what she’s suggesting just isn’t right. Whitney says it’s not right for whom, then says she can’t believe she’s not going to do this for her or for her baby. Then she says it just goes along with all the other selfish things she’s done. She tells her mother she wishes she were more like Ivy. Eve is stunned, and says “Ivy??”

Whitney tells her yes, that she has her faults, but right now all she’s worried about is her son’s happiness and making sure he’s not saddled with a baby that’s not his. Eve says she doesn’t think that’s right, either, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about her. Whitney tells her if she did care she’d do what she was asking her to do, she’d be on her side without question, but no, she’s ready to sell her down the river as soon as possible. She says she doesn’t know why she expected anything more from her, then calls her a self-righteous, lying bitch.

Martin tells Katherine to relax, he’s not thinking about that, that they’ve tried that before and it never works. He says he was talking about leaving Harmony as soon as possible. Katherine asks what about Luis, but he tells her Luis doesn’t understand the threat Alistair is to him and Sheridan, and the only way he knows to protect them is to leave town. He then damns Alistair to hell.

Alistair facetiously tells Beth it’s good to see her, too. Beth says she doesn’t have time for pleasantries, that she wants to know what the deal is with Martin Fitzgerald’s so-called wife, Mrs. Wheeler. She says it’s not even her real name. The secretary tells her that as she said on the phone, she’d be happy to make an appointment for her. Alistair says that’s ok, that he will talk to her now, and that she is excused. Beth says he knows the truth about her and calls him Mr. Crane.

He says to call him Alistair, as he’s told her before, because they went through so much together when she thought he was Charlie. She agrees, and uses his name, then asks who Mrs. Wheeler is and what her real connection to Sheridan is.

Luis tells Sam whatever the hurdle is they can get over it. Sam explains that when they went to Mexico, he had the Coast Guard searching overtime for the bodies of Antonio and the pilot of the plane he was on. Luis asks if they found anything, but Sam said only some wreckage and the scarf they had found, but that was not enough. He says that he thinks the bodies burned up in the explosion, and when he sees Sheridan’s reaction he apologizes for being so graphic. She says it’s ok. Luis tells him that they all know Antonio’s dead, but Sam says the law is clear, that without the body, they have to wait seven years to declare him dead. Sheridan says they will never be able to get married. (commercial)

Martin tells Katherine that he needs to find a lawyer. She asks why, when they are leaving Harmony. He tells her he wants to make sure Pilar is financially taken care of before they leave. She says if they leave there’s no guarantee Alistair will leave their kids alone. He says that’s true, but if they stay he will certainly make their lives a living hell, and leaving is the only hope they have that he will leave them alone and let them live in peace.

He finds an attorney and says he will give it a try. He dials the number and tells the person on the other end of the line that he’d like to make an appointment as soon as possible.

Alistair asks Beth if she thinks Mrs. Wheeler is an assumed name. She says she’s sure of it, that she looked her up online and found nothing but the story about her shooting Alistair, and that he must know who she is. He asks who she thinks she is, and she tells him she has no idea, that’s why she came to him, but she knows she’s the key to breaking Luis and Sheridan up, so if he knows anything at all he has to tell her. He says he’s intrigued, then asks why on earth she would think Mrs. Wheeler would have any connection to Sheridan or Luis. She tells him that she knows they fought about Mrs. Wheeler bitterly, and that Sheridan seems to have this deep bond with a so-called stranger, while Luis hates his father’s mistress, and now Sheridan changed her tune and decided to be loyal to Luis. She says she finds it all so tenuous, and that she knows that if she can find out why Mrs. Wheeler affects Sheridan so deeply she can break the two of them up for good. He tells her it’s interesting, but she says don’t beat around the bush, just tell her what he knows about Mrs. Wheeler.

Sheridan tells Luis and Sam that she knew something else was going to keep them apart, that they will never marry. Luis tells her to calm down, that they can think of something. Sheridan asks how, if they can’t have him declared legally dead. He asks Sam if there is some way to do it, but he says no, without the body they have to wait seven years.

Paloma is shocked and asks Pilar why she hasn’t told Theresa their father is back in Harmony, that she has a right to know. Pilar tells her to listen to her, that Theresa almost died tonight and so had the baby, and they are still in a weakened condition. Paloma tells her it’s not right to keep such a secret from her. She says if she were Theresa she would want to know. Pilar tells her she knows the girl has issues with her, but begs her to please not take it out on Theresa , that she had nothing to do with Paloma being sent to Mexico. She tells her that if Theresa finds out Mr. Wheeler is her father and Mrs. Wheeler is the woman he ran off with all those years ago, it could kill her.

Theresa is listening at the door and says “Oh, my God. Mr. Wheeler is my father?”

Eve tells Whitney she isn’t just her mother, she is a doctor with responsibilities. Whitney says leave it to her to put her job ahead of her daughter, her son, and her grandchild. Eve says it’s about her and the child and Chad, then tells her that one thing she’s learned from recent events is that secrets have this way of backfiring on everyone. She says she can’t keep the paternity of her child a secret, but Whitney says she can if it’s the only way to protect her child. Eve asks if she can’t see that the only reason they are in this situation now is because she is thinking now like Eve did back then, that she is carrying her half-brother’s child because she was too cowardly to tell the truth about Julian long ago. Whitney says she is not her, and this is a completely different situation. Eve tells her a lie is a lie, that she owes it to her and to Chad to make sure everyone knows the truth. She turns to walk out and tell them. Whitney says fine, go ahead, everyone will find out anyway, then starts crying. She says her life is ruined, and so is her baby’s. (commercial)

Martin hangs up the phone and Katherine asks if it’s set. He says he has an appointment tomorrow, that at least this time he won’t be leaving Pilar with nothing. She asks if he’s sure he’s ready for this, and he says he says he just wants all this sadness behind him, that he’s hurt his family so much that leaving is the only way he can think of to try to protect them. She adds that God willing Alistair will leave them alone, too, once they are gone.

Beth asks Alistair if he knows she’s on to something, that Mrs. Wheeler or whatever her name is, is the key to breaking up Luis and Sheridan. He says he always knew she was a clever girl, that her mother always underestimated her. She tells him to forget her mother, and asks if he knew about Mrs. Wheeler, why didn’t he use it before to break up Luis and Sheridan. He tells her to have patience. She says “So, you do know what I’m talking about.” He says of course, that Sheridan and Luis will never stay together as long as he is pulling the strings.

Luis yells at Sam, telling him that seven years is a long time. Sam says he’s sorry, but he’s called everyone he knows, and that is the law. He leaves to take care of something else, and Sheridan asks Luis why it has to be so hard when they’ve been through so much already. She says it isn’t fair, and he agrees, but then gets an idea. He says he knows how to have Antonio declared dead right away. She asks how, they’ve tried everything, but he says no, there is another way, there is one name that can get it done - hers. He tells her they can use the Crane name to manipulate the laws and get him declared dead, that the Cranes do stuff like that all the time. She says she’s not good at that, that Alistair or Julian, maybe, but not her. He stops her and says that’s what he’s talking about. She is shocked, asking him if he’s going to ask her father to help them. He looks at her.

Pilar tells Theresa she shouldn’t be out of bed. She asks if it’s true, if Mr. Wheeler is her father. Pilar tells her she didn’t want her to find out this way. Theresa starts to say “After all these years…”, then bends over and grabs her stomach, yelling in pain. Pilar rushes to help her as Paloma watches in shock.

Whitney tells her mother that she doesn’t know why she can’t believe that her own mother would betray her. Eve says that’s not what she’s doing. Whitney tells her she asked her to support her, to do what she thinks is best, but she won’t help her. Eve cries and says that’s not what she’s doing, but Whitney says it’s obvious she doesn’t give a damn about her, but that’s ok because she doesn’t give a damn about her mother, either. Eve tells her she’s sorry to hear that, but she has to go out there and tell everyone the truth. Whitney tells her she really hates her, and Eve turns and walks out the door. Everyone rushes up to her. Ivy says “Finally, what took you so long?”, while Fox asked where Whitney is and Chad asks about the baby. Whitney walks out of the room and Fox asks how she is. She says she’s fine, and so’s the baby. Ivy says that now they’ve established that everyone is fine, they need to get down to business and find out who the father is. Eve and Whitney look at each other, and an impatient Ivy tells Eve to get on with it, they don’t have all night. They all look at each other as they wait for Eve to tell them the results.
