At Sami’s place, Sami shouts at Nicole that Rafe has DNA evidence, and she isn’t calling the shots anymore. Nicole vows to never let Sami take Sydney from her, but Sami shrieks that Sydney is hers. Nicole shouts that she isn’t, and that Sydney loves and needs her, not Sami. She goes on to say that Sami never even knew Sydney was hers, and it’s because she knew Nicole loved her and how much she loved Nicole. She then claims that Sami only wants Sydney because she views her as her property. Sami goes after Nicole, threatening to kill her. Nicole picks up a glass paperweight from the desk, screaming that she has done everything for Sydney, and she won’t let Sami take her away. Sami shrieks back that she isn’t threatened, and that she won’t allow Nicole to keep her daughter. Just then, Rafe walks in with Sydney. Nicole drops the paperweight. Sami catches sight of Sydney and sobs.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Hope tries to get Ciara to color with her, but Ciara shuts the book, saying that she doesn’t want to color anymore, and that she wants to go home. Hope says she knows, and promises to take Ciara to see her father soon. Cara tells Hope that she wants to say there for good, and wonders why they can’t live with her daddy. Hope sighs.

On the phone at this place, Bo asks someone if they’re sure they mean Lawrence Alamain, saying that it doesn’t make any sense. He then hangs up. Carly asks what is going on, and Bo explains that Justin wants them both to meet him down at the station. Carly assumes the authorities have decided to extradite her, but Bo shakes his head, saying it’s good news, actually, but it’s complicated.

At the station, an officer hands Justin a fax from Cobb, the federal officer that arrested Carly originally. Justin takes a look over the papers and sighs, wondering why Carly lied to him and Bo.

Gus shows up at the Java Café to meet Vivian, who complains because he has kept her waiting. He says she is sorry, but she tells him to never mind all that and tells her the news, which had better be good. Gus says it is good news, and that it’s done. Vivian grins.

At the DiMera mansion, Chloe tells EJ that he needs to speak with Sami and Nicole. EJ asks what is going on, but Chloe says that he can’t hear this from her. She suggests that he head over to Sami’s place, as the sooner he gets there, the sooner he’ll understand. Confused, EJ asks what it is he needs to understand, but Chloe rushes off.

Nicole rushes over to Rafe, sobbing and begging him to give her her baby. Rafe refuses, saying that she is Sami’s, not Nicole’s. Nicole cries hysterically as Rafe hands Sydney over to Sami.

Mia runs into Will at the pub. He asks if she has heard anything about the paternity tests, and she nods, saying that she spoke with Chad, and that he isn’t the father. Will says that is good news, since now Chad can’t raise Sydney, and that is what Mia wanted. He then says pointedly that he should get back to studying, and Mia heads off in tears. She runs into Maggie outside, and hurriedly tells her that she will have to cancel their dinner plans. Maggie asks what happened, and Mia explains that Will is in the pub, and that he hates her.

Sami holds Sydney and cuddles her. Nicole tries to get at Sydney, sobbing that she is hers, but Rafe blocks her way. Nicole sobs, wondering why he can’t understand that she has loved Sydney since the day she was born and that she is hers. Rafe shakes his head, telling Nicole that it’s all over, and that he has called the police, and they’re on their way. Nicole breaks down completely, shrieking that she is Sydney’s mommy.

Hope tries to explain to Ciara that just because she and her daddy aren’t living together doesn’t mean that they all don’t love each other. She asks if Ciara can believe that, but Ciara isn’t sure. Hope sighs and pulls her in for a hug.

Carly and Bo show up at the station to meet Justin. She asks if this is about her extradition, and Justin nods, saying that as of now, she can stay in Salem indefinitely, and that no one is looking to extradite her or blame her for Lawrence’s murder. Carly doesn’t understand. Justin explains to them both that someone else has come forward and confessed to Lawrence’s murder. Carly gapes.

Maggie explains to Mia that Will doesn’t hate her—he’s just hurt that there is so much that he didn’t know about her. Maggie then says that Will will eventually understand that she did what she had to do to ensure that her little girl will have a good life, and will be raised in the best possible way with all the advantages she deserves. Mia nods, saying that that is exactly what she meant before. Maggie sighs, wondering if that is really so, since she is sure that there is something more to this story—something Mia hasn’t told anyone. Mia sobs, admitting that Maggie is right, but says that she promised Nicole she wouldn’t say a word. She rushes off in tears. Maggie gives chase.

Nicole rushes out of Sami’s house in tears. She runs into EJ in the hall, who demands to know what is going on. Nicole sobs bitterly as Rafe comes to the door. He smirks, asking if Nicole wants to tell EJ the truth, or if she’d rather let Sami or the police do it. EJ asks what Rafe is talking about. Nicole bawls and runs off. EJ gives chase as Rafe looks on, shaking his head.

Carly wonders why someone would take the rap for a murder they didn’t commit. She thinks the whole thing is crazy. Bo admits it is, but that it also makes sense in a sick, demented way. He admits to Carly that he believes that someone is trying to play with her mind—and her life.

Vivian asks Gus if her faithful retainer has done his job and fingered himself as Lawrence’s killer, thus exonerating Carly. Gus nods. Vivian can tell by the way he is knitting his brow that he must be perplexed, and she has to question his powers of perception, since the answer to his question is obvious. Gus asks what question she means, and Vivian assumes he wants to know why she is letting Carly go free even though she murdered her nephew. Gus admits he was wondering that. Vivian bursts out laughing and cackles merrily.

Chloe heads into the pub and nervously greets Will, saying that she needs his father’s number in rehab. Will wonders if she is joking, since his dad is there because of Chloe. Chloe sighs, explaining that when she and his father were together, they knew something, and the information they had caused something terrible to happen. Will doesn’t give a damn, and tells Chloe that he has to go. Chloe sighs, saying that his father is going to want to know this, because it has to do with Will’s mom, and now that the truth that come out, Will’s father is going to want to be there for his mother.

Sami holds Sydney and asks Rafe why EJ was here. Rafe says he isn’t sure, but that EJ bolted after Nicole when she ran off. Sami tells the baby that she doesn’t have to worry about it, or anything else, because she is home now. Sydney babbles. Sami claims that she can tell Sydney is happy, and tells Rafe that she is saying ‘thank you.’ Rafe grins, telling her she’s welcome. Sami again says wonderingly that Sydney is her baby. She hugs her tightly.

EJ catches up with Nicole at the pier and forcibly stops her, demanding to know what is going on. She bawls and shakes her head, but EJ says he isn’t leaving her alone until she tells him what is going on with Sami and Rafe and the cops. Nicole falls to her knees and cries that they’re all wrong. EJ kneels down and takes Nicole’s face in his hands, begging her to talk to him. She tells him through her tears that she feels like she is being punished over and over again when all she was trying to do is give him what was rightfully his. EJ asks what she means, and Nicole sobs that she is talking about his daughter.

Sami tells Rafe that she now understands why being with Sydney always made her feel so special. She guesses that Rafe is thinking about Grace, and Rafe nods, saying that he can’t help but feel that Grace somehow had a part in helping to bring Sydney back to Sami. Sami agrees. Sydney babbles again, and Sami thinks that she agrees, too. Sami then gets serious, telling Rafe that while he may have had a little help from Grace, he really did this all on his own. It’s because of him that she is holding her daughter in her arms right now, and if it hadn’t been for him, she would have been lost to her forever.

EJ backs off of Nicole, reminding her angrily that she tried to pass off some illegally adopted child as his. Nicole says she didn’t, but EJ says that he has had enough of her lies. She shrieks that she isn’t lying, but it doesn’t matter anymore anyway, because EJ is going to find out the truth soon, and when he does, she hopes that he sees she did the right thing. EJ snorts that she never does the right thing, but Nicole bawls that she reunited him with the daughter Sami would have never let him keep. She sobs that she took Sami’s child and she gave her to EJ, because she loved him and wanted him to have what was his. EJ reminds her that Grace is dead, but Nicole shakes her head miserably, saying that Grace isn’t the child EJ had with Sami—Sydney is. EJ shakes his head, refusing to believe it.

Justin heads into the Kiriakis mansion and runs into Hope. Ciara calls her from upstairs, but Justin stops her, telling her that he has some news. Hope sighs, admitting that she isn’t in the mood right now, and that she has burdened him with enough of her problems. She adds that she doesn’t see the point of talking things through again, because it isn’t going to change anything. Justin tells her that that is just it—the situation has changed.

Carly and Bo head into his and Hope’s place, and Carly tells Bo that she will be packed and out of there shortly. Bo asks what she means, and she says that she is leaving. Bo shakes his head, saying that someone is messing with Carly, and he knows it. Carly tells Bo that she can’t stay here and complicate his life if she isn’t in danger of being extradited. Bo tells Carly that she is too smart for this, and that she must know he isn’t going to let her go anywhere that he can’t protect her-- especially not now when someone is setting her up, and things just got a hell of a lot more dangerous.

Vivian explains to Gus that she has given this a lot of thought, and since the situation with Carly is an expedition that could go on for years, she had decided to take of the problem right here and now. Gus guesses that this is all in the interest of expediency, and Vivian says it’s also about location. She thinks that the woman that cemented her disastrous union with Vivian’s nephew in Salem should pay for it right here in town.

Will tells Chloe that he isn’t giving her his dad’s number, but she can go talk to him herself in person if she wants. Chloe says that she has reconsidered anyway, and decided not to call Lucas. Will scoffs, glad that they argued about it for ten minutes. Chloe tells Will that he was right, and that Lucas is too vulnerable right now to be stressed about anything. Will asks Chloe why she won’t tell him what is going on, and she explains that it’s a good thing for both Will and his mom, but since it’s so huge, she thinks Sami should be the one to tell Will. She suggests that he go home and talk to his mom.

Sami and Rafe admire Sydney. Sami then apologizes for doubting Rafe before, and says that she should have just trusted him. Rafe asks Sami not to do this to herself, and claims that Sydney would say the same if she could talk. Sami tells Rafe that she is just grateful that he didn’t give up, even when she was suspicious, and because of that, she now has her little girl in her arms. Rafe wonders why he would ever give up when he had the chance to take away a little of the pain Sami felt over Grace. He says that now that he can look at Sydney, and she reminds him of Grace, and how they are both a part of Sami. Sami says that now Sydney can be a part of both her and Rafe’s lives. He says he loves her, and she tells him she loves him, too, as well as Sydney.

EJ tells Nicole that he doesn’t understand, and she explains again that Sydney is his and Sami’s daughter. EJ says that can’t be right, because he saw Sydney an hour after she was born—right after Nicole got her from Mia. Nicole says quietly that she didn’t get her from Mia. She then explains that Sami also gave birth at the clinic. Then she left right after because she didn’t want EJ to know about his child. Nicole asks him if he can see what Sami did. EJ, furious, says that he wants to know what Nicole did. She sobs. EJ grabs her by the lapels of her jacket and screams at her to tell him what happened.

Gus asks Vivian what happens next, and she explains that the fun begins. The two laugh uproariously.

Carly tells Bo that she appreciates his concern. He insists that she isn’t going anywhere. Carly agrees to stay, but tells Bo that she won’t be monopolizing his time. She explains that he needs to be with Hope and his daughter, and that she doesn’t need him around all the time, especially since a guard will be outside protecting her. Bo sighs. Carly tells him to go find Hope right now and fix whatever is wrong between them.

Hope thinks there must be something more to the story, and asks Justin who confessed to Lawrence’s murder. Justin is sure they know, but explains that the federal agents aren’t releasing any of that information. Hope asks if Carly is free to go. Justin says she is, but he admits that he and Bo feel she’s still in danger since they don’t know who made this confession or why. Hope grimaces, saying that Bo will probably still want to protect Carly. Justin isn’t sure, since he hasn’t spoken to Bo about it. Hope snorts that she hasn’t either, since Bo obviously hasn’t contacted with the news. Justin is sure he will. Hope grumbles that he will at some point. Justin protests, but Hope tells him that she doesn’t want any of his pep talks right now. She claims that since Carly is no longer in danger of being extradited, Bo has obviously made his choice, and he has chosen Carly over her.

Chloe calls Nicole from the pub and leaves her a voicemail, lambasting her for all the horrible lies she told and things she did when she considered her a friend. Mia comes up behind Chloe as she barks at Nicole’s voicemail, saying that she can’t believe she passed Sydney off as hers, when she was really Sami’s and not Mia’s all along. Mia interrupts, asking Chloe what she meant by saying that Sydney was Sami’s baby.

EJ demands that Nicole tell him what is going on, and she agrees, explaining that she found out Sami was pregnant before she gave birth and where she was hiding. EJ asks how she found it out, and Nicole says that Chloe told her. She admits that she snapped. She was angry and jealous because she was grieving the loss of her and EJ’s child, and she knew Sami had what she wanted. She admits she went to the convent to confront Sami. Before she could, she overheard Sami praying, and saying that she would never let EJ know about his child. She says she set it all up so that Sami would give birth at the clinic, and it ended up being perfect because she got lucky. EJ, still in disbelief, asks what she means. She says that Sami ended up giving birth about an hour after Mia, so by the time she got to the clinic with Mia’s baby, Sami had just give birth. With Baker’s help she switched the babies. EJ shakes his head, asking her how she could take that risk. Nicole laughs nervously, saying it was risky, and she admits that she stayed awake at night, barely able to breathe with fear that she might get caught. She claims that she knew it was worth it in the end because EJ would have his child—the one Sami meant to keep from him forever. She claims that was the child they should have had together, and asks him if he can see that she did all of this for him. She takes his hand. EJ turns to her and smiles. Nicole smiles back. He takes her face in her hands and chokes her, telling her that she is going to pay for what she has done. Later, EJ chucks his wedding ring into the river, saying that he can’t believe he held onto it this long. Nicole shrieks at him to stop it. Sirens wail in the background, and EJ tells Nicole that those are probably for her, and guesses that Rafe meant to have her arrested at the townhouse. He then demands to that she tell him where his daughter is. Nicole refuses to tell him. EJ shouts, asking if she is with Sami. Nicole starts to run off, but EJ grabs her. She screams at him to let go of her.

Justin assures Hope that Bo isn’t choosing Carly over her, but Hope doesn’t want to hear it. Justin thinks she is losing perspective on all of this, but Hope disagrees, saying that she doesn’t blame Carly for causing problems between her and Bo. She just thinks that the fact that he hasn’t called her yet is very telling. Justin reminds her that this just happened, but she reminds him that he found time to tell her. She asks Justin to stop justifying what Bo has done, claiming that he would have contacted her with the news if things were really alright between them. Justin tells her how sorry he is. Hope sighs, admitting that she was trying to reassure Ciara earlier, but she thinks Ciara is as scared as she is that her marriage is ending.

Chloe tells Mia that she didn’t see her there. Mia demands to know what she was talking about, but Chloe says that she has to go. Mia steps in front of her, insisting that she heard Chloe leaving a message saying that Sydney was Sami’s baby, but that can’t be true, since Sydney is hers, and Sami’s baby, Grace, died. She then demands to know where her baby is. Chloe fidgets.

Rafe gets a call from one of his men on the inside. Rafe thanks the man and hangs up, telling Sami that it’s time for them to go.

Nicole bawls, telling EJ that Sydney is with his precious Samantha—the same woman that was going to make sure he never had anything to do with his child, and the same woman that will always love Rafe, and never him. Nicole shouts at EJ to go commiserate with Sami, but he has to know that she will never let him love and raise his daughter the way she did. Nicole breaks down, sobbing that she could have been a good mother and been happy. Just then, three cops swarm in and arrest Nicole.

Justin tells Hope that it’s ok, because she has him, and she always will. He hugs her as Bo walks in and glares at the two.

Carly hears a knock on the door. Thinking it’s the guard, she opens it to find Vivian outside, holding a potted plant. Vivian smiles and tells Carly that it’s been a long time.

Mia demands that Chloe tell her where her baby is. Just then, Maggie rushes over and Mia explains that she overheard Chloe saying that Sydney is Sami’s baby, and that the babies were switched at birth. Chloe stammers. Maggie tells Chloe that Mia is going through a very hard time right now, so Chloe needs to tell Mia that she heard her wrong. Chloe fidgets, not saying anything.

Rafe and Sami rush onto the pier with Sydney in tow as Nicole is arrested. Nicole bawls as everyone stares at her.

Justin tells Bo, “You're acting like a complete jerk.”

Vivian says, “I could just... shoot myself.” Carly offers, “Please, let me.”

Nicole cries, “Mommy loves you! She always will!”
