At the Java Café, Chad tells Sami that perhaps he has been looking at this the wrong way. He admits that Sami is the first person that’s spoken to him about this that makes any sense. Sami says that is because she has been through what he is going through. Chad admits that it must have been hard to have a kid when you’re so young and still do the right thing. Sami admits it’s hard to know what the right thing is at any time, and asks Chad if he thinks he’s going to give up on trying to get Sydney away from Nicole.

On Omar’s boat, Rafe writhes and groans. He murmurs that Sami needs to know that Sydney is her baby, not Nicole’s.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Brady asks Nicole if he heard her right, and if she is saying she wants to run away with him. Nicole explains that she made a mistake when she married EJ, since Brady was the one that loved her and was always there for her. Brady isn’t sure Nicole is thinking straight right now, but she says she is, and that she knows Brady loves her, as he told her as much before she got married. She says that she finally realizes that his love is pure, and that it doesn’t have strings attached. Brady sighs, reminding her that she loves EJ. She married him, and went to great lengths to hang on to him. Nicole claims all that is in the past, but Brady wonders how she can turn off her feelings like that. Nicole tells Brady that loving EJ was the biggest mistake of her life. Now all of that is over, and she can finally be with the one man in the world that loves her and is perfect for her.

EJ sits by Stefano’s bedside at the hospital and talks shop, telling him about a new company he purchased—one in Hong Kong that Stefano was interested in. EJ sighs, wondering why they are talking about business when his father’s life hangs in the balance, and his own life is falling to pieces. He tells Stefano to be grateful that he can close his eyes and get away from this madness. EJ then admits it’s with a heavy heart that his own eyes are open.

Carly sneaks into a room at the hospital and swipes some medication from a cart. She starts to head back out, but stops short when she catches sight of Maxine, who is talking to Bo about a gun shot victim brought in the night before. Carly stares.

Chad tells Sami that he needs some time to think it through, but Sami reminds him that Sydney has spent nine months with Nicole, and has already bonded with her. Chad doesn’t want to give his kid up to total strangers, but Sami reminds him that Sydney sees EJ and Nicole as her mother and father. Chad sighs, asking Sami again about her son and his insecurities. Sami explains that her son has worked through his problems, but it’s been hard for him, and she blames herself. She just wishes she had given him a better start in life, and asks Chad if he plans on doing what is best for Sydney by letting her stay with Nicole. Chad says he will think about it, but for now, he has to get back to work. He heads off as Maggie comes in. She greets Sami and loudly begins talking about her son, Will, and what a wonderful young, and he has become. Sami gulps.

Brady reminds Nicole that if EJ hasn’t found out about her lies, she’d still be at the mansion with him, trying to work things out. Nicole agrees, admitting that she is weak. Brady thinks Nicole loves EJ, but she says she can’t keep chasing the dream with someone that doesn’t love her, and is nothing more than a cold, cynical bastard. Nicole claims she needs to be with someone who loves her for who she is. Brady reminds her that she isn’t just talking about being with him; she’s talking about running away. Nicole asks Brady to think of it like a new beginning for both of them. Nicole says that she is finally ready to get it right with Brady, who loves her unconditionally, and doesn’t mind that she can’t give him a child. She adds that she loves Brady, too. Brady sighs. Nicole asks if something has changed, and if he still loves her. Brady admits that he does, and that he probably always will.

Carly watches from around the corner as Bo greets Theo. Lexie tells Bo about Theo’s afterschool daycare, and how he’s going to a mainstream elementary school now. Bo gives him a hug and congratulates him. Lexie and Bo then make small talk about Stefano’s condition, which isn’t improving.

EJ pats Stefano’s arm, asking him to take his strength and get better, as everyone is rooting for him. EJ says that he, Lexie, Johnny and Theo are all rooting for him. EJ’s voice breaks as he admits Nicole and Sydney are, too. He promises to take care of the family and heads off. Stefano’s fingers twitch.

Victor heads into the pub and greets Arianna. She asks him if she can get him anything, and he replies quietly that he’d like some cocaine. Arianna gapes. Victor says it was just a joke, but Arianna suggests uneasily that he shouldn’t quit his day job. Victor then asks if she has been able to juggle her two jobs. Arianna replies that she hopes he hasn’t said anything. Victor claims he hasn’t, as he is a man of his word. He asks her slyly if she has managed to keep her word.

Brady tells Nicole that there is no point denying it, since he has loved her too long for that. He admits that he has waited for this day for a long time, but she is asking a lot her—not that that should come as a surprise to him. Nicole says that is part of the reason why she loves him—she knows that he will be there for her, no matter what it takes. Brady admits that that has been his pattern. Nicole asks if that means that he’ll do it, and go away with both her and Sydney.

Maggie tells Sami that she found Will in the bookstore, reading a story to a group of preschoolers. Sami says that she is proud of him, but claims that she has to run. She starts to head off, but overhears Maggie greet Chad as she comes up to the counter. Sami, surprised, looks at Maggie questioningly. Maggie explains that she knows Chad through Mia, since they’re all friends. Chad asks Sami in surprise if she knows Mia. Maggie scoffs, saying of course she does, since Mia and Sami’s son Will are good friends. Chad gapes. Sami sighs.

Arianna hands Victor a coffee. He again asks her if she has kept her word and stayed away from Brady. Arianna claims she has, as she doesn’t want Brady to find out what she does outside of work. She admits that she thinks it will hurt him. Victor tells her that not wanting to see Brady hurt is something they both have in common. He then heads off. Outside, he takes out his phone and makes a call. He tells someone that they need to talk, and asks if they should meet at his place or theirs.

Brady is surprised Nicole wants to take Sydney with them. She explains that EJ doesn’t want to have anything to do with her, and Chad wants to start some custody battle. She declares that she won’t let that spoiled brat take her baby. Brady tells her she can’t do this, but Nicole claims that this is just some power trip for Chad, and that he won’t want Sydney after the first time she spits up on him. Nicole claims that she has to get Sydney out of here. While Mia still wants her to have the baby, the adoption wasn’t exactly legal. Brady says that is his point, and that Nicole can’t take her out of the country. Nicole scoffs, saying she’s doing it. She suggests they just go to some country that doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the U.S., like Brunei or Morocco. She tells Brady that they can buy a house and start a wonderful life together. Brady tells her flatly that that is not going to happen.

Omar looks on as Rafe moans that the baby is Sami’s, not Nicole’s.

Maggie says goodbye to Chad and Sami and heads off. Sami explains to Chad that everything she said was true—she just left out the part that Will was her son. Chad declares that she is some piece of work, and that she really had him going there. Sami reminds him that he would have shut down on her if he knew Will was her son. Chad says she’s damn right he would have. He scoffs, saying that she really thought she could get him to let Nicole keep Sydney. He tells Sami angrily to think again.

Carly spies in from around the corner as Bo and Lexie talk about Ciara and Theo and how fast they grow up. Bo admits he has just noticed that Ciara isn’t really a little girl anymore. Lexie reminds him that it won’t be long before the boys start coming around. Bo chuckles, saying that Ciara won’t be allowed to date until she’s at least thirty. Lexie reminds him that he can enforce that as law since he is police commissioner. The two laugh as Carly whispers, “Police Commissioner. Yikes.” She starts to back away, but a man puts his hand on her shoulder.

Victor shows up at the DiMera mansion and greets EJ, who tells him that he can leave if he is just here to gloat. Victor assumes he is talking about Nicole, and claims he isn’t here to gloat, though he did warn EJ. EJ admits that he did. Victor tells him to look at the bright side—at least she didn’t try to murder him. EJ tells Victor miserably that he really isn’t in the mood. Victor understands why not, considering what is going on with both Nicole and his father. Victor explains that Stefano’s illness is actually the reason he is here, and that he and EJ need to talk business. EJ agrees.

Sami claims that the fact that she is Will’s mother doesn’t change anything, but Chad thinks it changes everything. Sami asks for a chance to talk to him a little more, but Chad wonders why he should talk to a hypocrite like her. He reminds her that she advised him to give up his baby, even though she kept Will. He wonders why he should give up his child when she didn’t. Sami says that she just doesn’t want to see Chad make the same mistakes she did.

Nicole warns Brady not to try to talk her out of this, as she can’t and won’t live without Sydney. She sighs, saying that she hoped he loved her enough to want to stay with her and build a happy life with her. Brady knows that Nicole is in a bind right now, and that she truly loves Sydney. Nicole says she loves him, too. Brady replies that he thinks Nicole is scared and letting her emotions run away with her. Brady then asks her abruptly if she wants to run away with him because she wants to be with him, or if it’s because she needs his money.

A male nurse apologizes to Carly, saying that he thought she was another doctor. She tells him not to worry about it and rushes for the elevator. She brushes past Maggie and gets on it. Maggie thinks she recognizes her and turns to stop her, but the elevator doors have already closed.

Victor reminds EJ that when they made their truce, they agreed that certain parts of their business would be split down the middle. Victor then says that he wants to sell half of one of his operations to EJ. EJ asks if this is a lucrative operation. Victor says it is. EJ asks if it’s on the books. Victor says there are no books—shipments are made weekly, and dealers deliver the product. EJ says he understands. Victor then says that he wants to sell everything on their side of the river to EJ. EJ wants to know what the catch is.

Sami explains to Chad that she didn’t exactly have a normal life growing up. She wanted more than anything to give that to her son, but she didn’t know what she was doing, and she made a lot of mistakes. Chad says he has work to do, but Sami begs him to give her one more chance. She explains that she and Will’s father fought all the time and couldn’t seem to make it work. She adds that they never put Will’s needs first, and because of that, he ended up hating them, and eventually even moved to Europe to get away from them. Chad reminds her that Will came back, but Sami says she lost a lot of time with Will that she can never get back. She claims that Will hated her and Lucas, and she wonders if that is what Chad wants for Sydney. Chad asks her what she wants him to say, and Sami says that she just wants him to learn from her mistakes and see the harm he could cause Sydney if he took her away from Nicole. Chad tells Sami that he isn’t her, and asks her to buzz off. Sami reminds Chad that Mia isn’t going to help him raise this baby. She doesn’t want the responsibility, and she doesn’t want to be with him, so if he does this, he’s going to be doing it alone. Sami wonders if Chad really wants Sydney to grow up screwed-up and hating him.

Nicole tells Brady that that comment hurt her. Brady says he is sorry and that she knows he loves her, but this isn’t just about love. Nicole swears that love can help them make this work, but Bray wonders if she is really ready to cut everyone else out of her life. She reminds him that she has no family in Salem, and that no one cares about her but Brady. Brady reminds her that Chloe cares, and so do Sami, Mia, and Will. Nicole admits a few people care about her, but it isn’t as if she has some great social network. She claims she only has Brady, and that he is her rock. She reminds him that he is the one she always turns to, and that she wants to make that permanent. Brady asks if she would feel the same way if he didn’t have any money. Nicole says that this isn’t about the money—it’s about the life that she knows they can have. Brady admits that she makes a good case, but he still doesn’t think she has thought this through. He reminds her that a life on the run would be tough, and that she’d be isolated and hunted down. Nicole says again that no one will care in the long run if she leaves, and that she will never be isolated as long as she has Brady and Sydney. Brady sighs, telling Nicole that while he doesn’t want to hurt her, he can’t agree to go with her.

Victor explains that Philip no longer wants to work that side of the business, and of course, Brady won’t go anywhere near it, so he really has no one to pass it on to when he retires. EJ can’t believe that Victor is seriously considering retirement. Victor admits he isn’t, but Stefano’s recent illness has given him pause. EJ says he is sure Stefano will make a full recovery. Victor says he hopes he does, too, but they still need to remember they’re all mortal. He adds that when he decided to sell, the first person he naturally thought of was EJ. He says that not only does EJ have the know-how and resources to run this operation, Victor figured he could use the distraction, given what is going on in his life. EJ sighs.

Chad angrily tells Sami to stop pretending as if she knows everything that is going to happen in his life, since she doesn’t have a clue. Chad declares that Sydney won’t hate him because he won’t lie to her the way Sami did to Will. Chad guesses nastily that Sami probably started lying to Will in the cradle. Sami reminds Chad that attacking Will won’t help him make the right decision. Will claims that he is actually attacking Sami and Will’s useless alcoholic father. He claims that if anyone should have been given up at birth, it should have been Will. Sami tells him to stop it. Chad adds that he will never make the same mistakes she did when he is raising his kid.

Nicole begs Brady not to abandon her. He promises that he won’t do that, and that he will stand by her and help her out. Nicole asks Brady if he really doesn’t see that she has to get out of Salem before they take Sydney away from her and put her in prison. Brady promises that she won’t go to prison, but he can’t just whisk her away to some fantasy world, either. Nicole grumps that he doesn’t really love her, then. Brady says he does, but that he shouldn’t have said anything, because truthfully, he is involved with someone else right now. Nicole gapes. Brady says quickly that even if he wasn’t, running away isn’t the answer. Brady insists that he wants to help her, and if she needs a lawyer, he’ll help her get one. Nicole shrieks that she doesn’t want his help, and that he can never understand how she feels until he loses a child. She yells that her life is over, and that it’s all his fault. She storms off. Brady shouts after her, but Nicole slams the door behind her, bawling.

Arianna calls Troy, trying to get another meeting with the boss, but Troy tells her that he hasn’t been coming in lately. Arianna sighs, asking him to call her when the next shipment comes in. She hangs up, wondering how this nightmare is ever going to be over if she can’t get a meeting with this guy. Just then, Brady comes in. She reminds him quietly that they agreed to keep this private. He pointedly asks her for coffee. She gets it for him, and suggests they meet at the pier in a few minutes, since she’ll be on her break. Brady pays her and agrees to meet her there.

Lexie encourages Bo to try to get Hope to attend marriage counseling with him. Bo agrees to consider it as Maggie comes over, asking Lexie if another female doctor is working the floor tonight. Lexie says she is the only one, and all the rest are male. Maggie says she saw a female doctor getting on the elevator, but Lexie says she probably just works on another floor. Maggie shakes her head, saying that the woman seems familiar, and that she is sure she knows her from somewhere.

Carly returns to Omar’s boat and asks how the patient is doing. Omar explains that he is delirious, and keeps talking about a baby. Carly asks if he means his own baby, but Omar isn’t sure, as the man never makes it very clear. Carly prepares a syringe full of antibiotics and guesses that from the contusions on the man’s head, he was right that someone tried to kill him. Omar asks if the antibiotics will help. Carly shakes her head, saying they have to, because they’re out of options. She injects Rafe with the medicine, saying she hopes the man will be able to tell her soon who he is, and why he is so upset about a baby.

Mary meets Nicole outside the pub and hands Sydney over to her. Nicole thanks her, and Mary asks her if she is doing alright. She says she is fine, but Mary says she heard about what happened, and tells Nicole how sorry she is that poor Sydney is caught in the middle. Nicole thanks Mary again, and assures her that everything is going to work out. Mary heads off. Nicole hugs Sydney, assuring her that her mommy will always be here. She vows to do whatever it takes to make sure no one takes Sydney away from her.

Sami says that Chad talks big about becoming a father, but she thinks that it’s all talk. Chad says he is tired of talking to her, that’s for sure, but Sami warns him that she and Lucas are lucky that Will turned out as great as he did, since the two of them really screwed up. She warns Chad that he might not make the same mistakes that she and Lucas did, but the results will be the same. Chad groans, saying he is busy, but Sami presses him further, begging him not to take Sydney away from Nicole. Chad tells Sami to listen up. He claims that he is getting custody of his daughter, and no one is going to stop him.

Arianna meets Brady at the pier. She thanks him for meeting her, as she knows it’s a pain to keep this a secret. Brady claims that it’s no big deal, especially considering what he had to deal with earlier. Arianna asks what is going on, but Brady says he can’t talk about it, and that he wouldn’t want to even if he could. He claims he wants to concentrate on Arianna, as he thinks something is wrong with her. She claims everything is fine, and that she just wants to focus on the two of them and nothing else. Brady agrees, and tells her how nice she looks. Arianna tells him how glad she is to have him back in her life. The two kiss.

Victor tells EJ that he is a man of his word, and assures EJ that the business is doing well. EJ says he doesn’t doubt it, but that he still wants to do a little research before he agrees to anything. Victor nods and again tells EJ that he is only selling because he wants to concentrate on other things. He tells EJ that he looks forward to hearing from him, and adds that his father would be proud. Victor heads off. EJ sighs.

Lexie sits by Stefano’s bedside and urges him to fight, and to not let this disease win. Suddenly, Stefano’s machines beep wildly. Lexie checks his pulse and calls out for Stefano worriedly.

Maggie and Bo talk about a community watch program as Maxine rushes over, asking if the two have seen Dr. Carver. Maggie explains that she is in her father’s room, and Bo asks if something is wrong. Maxine admits there is, and that some medicine is missing. She wouldn’t think anything of it, except the lock on the cabinet is broken. She asks Bo if he can start an investigation right away. Maggie remembers seeing the woman she thought looked familiar earlier and tells herself that this is all very strange. Bo asks Maxine if she knows what kinds of drugs were taken. She nods, saying that that is the strange thing-- the only drugs missing are antibiotics.

D.A. Charles Woods heads into the café and greets his son, Chad. Chad guesses that his mother sent him over to check on him, and Charles admits that they are both worried about him. Charles says that he can tell that Chad is hurting, but Chad claims that he is fine. He reminds his father angrily that he isn’t just going to get over this, and that his child’s life is at stake. He also admits angrily that he wishes everyone would stop trying to tell him what to do. Charles reminds his son that he and his mother haven’t done so. Chad admits that is true, but he knows they want him to give up the baby. His father admits that that would be easier. Chad says that he can understand that his father just wants this whole thing to end, but this isn’t about him—it’s about Mia, him, and their little girl. Charles asks Chad if he plans on fighting for his daughter, but Chad claims that he hasn’t made up his mind yet. His father advises him to give it some more thought and heads off.

Omar asks Carly how long the medicine will take to have any effect. Carly says that that should know soon, but she wishes the man’s pulse were stronger. Omar asks if everything went smoothly at the hospital and if anyone recognized her. Carly says she hopes not. She admits that she did run into someone she knows, but she’ll have to deal with that once she gets this man to safety—assuming he survives.

Nicole calls Chloe in a panic, sobbing and leaving her a teary message about how that teenager is going to sue for custody and that she needs help. She guesses that Chloe probably can’t help her, and hangs up, bursting into tears. She cries that no one can help her now. Sami walks over just then, telling Nicole that it’s going to be alright, and that she is going to help her. Nicole sobs.

Daniel tells Chloe, “About having a baby. There could be a problem.”

Kate tells Stephanie, “You and Philip belong together.”

Nicole shouts at Sami, “You are the last person in the world who should be helping me!”
