Mimi’s loft:

Mimi feeds Shawn chicken soup and Shawn thanks her with a kiss claiming it’s her and not the soup that is making him feel better. Mimi starts to talk about the embryo switch but agrees to Shawn’s request not to talk about it. They start to make love but are interrupted by a knock on the door. Shawn doesn’t want to answer it but Mimi promises to get rid of them. The knocker turns out to be Belle with Claire asking to come in for some help. Mimi starts to object but Belle pushes right past her.

Chez Rouge:

The press has now cleared out. Max, still in shock, defends Chelsea to Philip but Philip can’t believe that Chelsea isn’t really guilty. Philip plans to throw the book at Chelsea and leaves.

Police station:

Bo leads Chelsea into his office and questions her about her fingerprints being on the file. Chelsea blames the fingerprints on working in the file room but won’t explain how it ended up in Shawn’s room. Bo convinced that the file was fabricated, refuses to buy Chelsea’s story. Bo threatens to lock Chelsea up but Frankie arrives to stand up for Chelsea.

Spectator offices:

Jennifer and Jack return to the newsroom and Jack marvels in being able to return to his desk. Jennifer explains that the personal items on his desk are from Mary Sue, his replacement while he was gone. Jack throws away the picture of the woman’s husband. Jennifer defends having followed him to meet Deep Throat. They discuss the gun photo and argue over whether to give it to the police. Jack calls Harold, the new editor, and tells him that he and Jennifer are back and ready to solve a mystery.

Jennifer searches the Internet to find information about the gun but is unsuccessful. Jack uses the old method of a gun reference book and claims to have found the gun. Jack shows the picture to Jennifer but she insists that the guns don’t match and throws the book back to him. Jack insists that the gun matches and teases Jennifer about being stubborn. Jack mocks Jennifer about her first days working at the newsroom. Jack offends Jennifer when he admits that he hired her in the first place because he loved her at first sight. They joke about who made the first move and they flash back to when they both admitted their feelings for each other. Jennifer complains that Jack changed the subject to get out of admitting he was wrong about the gun. Jennifer threatens to leave and never come back if he doesn’t admit he’s wrong. Jack hesitates and Jennifer stands up to leave so Jack finally admits that the guns are different. Jennifer sits back down but Jack glares at her.

Police station:

Chelsea swears that she isn’t responsible and begs Frankie for help. Bo agrees to leave them alone to talk for five minutes. Once alone, Frankie makes Chelsea admit that she put the file in Chelsea’s room.

Philip and Max arrive at the police station and question Bo about Chelsea. Philip steps away to make a phone call. Bo cautions Max against trusting Chelsea.

Mimi’s loft:

Shawn assures Belle that she wasn’t interrupting anything and came over because she can’t get Claire to sleep. Mimi complains that Philip should have been the one to help but Belle explains that Philip is at the press conference. Belle hands Claire over and Shawn tries to calm her. Mimi gloats about how Shawn has been known to keep her up all night but Shawn complains that Mimi is talking about such things in front of Claire. The phone rings and Mimi gets Shawn to get up and answer it. The caller is Philip who is calling to inform him that Chelsea was brought in for questioning about the assumedly doctored file.

Spectator:

Jack throws out the gun books and Jennifer complains that the Internet isn’t helping either. Jennifer and Jack wonder if Deep Throat has a picture of the gun because he has the gun and might even be the killer. Jack insists that despite the possible trap, he must tell the story. Jack notices that his Ferraro award is on Mary Sue’s desk and Jennifer explains that she put it there so everyone can see it and be reminded of him. Jack ignores Jennifer’s warnings and mention of the photo gives Jack an idea how to use it to find the gun. Jennifer rushes after Jack as he runs out to see someone who can help.

Police station:

Shawn rushes to the police station upon hearing the news and explains that Mimi and Belle don’t know the news. Bo wants Max, Philip, and Shawn to head home but they refuse to leave. Max still defends Chelsea but Philip and Shawn insist on being able to talk to Chelsea in person. Chelsea steps out of the office with Frankie and Philip and Shawn get in her face vowing to make sure she goes away for a long time.

Pawnshop:

Jack brings Jennifer to a pawnshop where he introduces her to the owner who used to be in jail with Jack’s father. Jack shows Sal the photo and asks for his help in finding the gun. Sal asks for something in return and Jack imitates the godfather character.

Mimi’s loft:

Belle and Mimi talk about how Shawn supposedly went out for air. Belle gushes about how Shawn is so good with Claire and Mimi voices her disapproval. Belle insists that Mimi has nothing to be jealous over unless she really thinks Claire is Shawn’s daughter.

Police station:

Bo steps in between Shawn and Chelsea but Shawn doesn’t let up. Max warns Shawn to back off but Shawn calls Chelsea a curse on their family so Max punches him.

Pawnshop:

Sal uses a magnifying glass to check out the picture and admires how the gun is rare and no longer made. Jennifer complains that they’ll never find the gun and Sal assures her that he’ll use his connections to find things out. Sal takes the picture and heads into the back room. Jack assures Jennifer that Sal will help get their man.

Police station:

Frankie holds Max back and Bo holds Shawn back. Chelsea admits to leaving the file and denies doing the embryo switch. Chelsea insists that the DNA report was not false and Shawn begins to consider that Claire could really be his daughter.

Mimi’s loft:

Mimi insists that she doesn’t believe Claire to be Shawn’s daughter but tells Belle to stop running to Shawn every time Claire is fussy.

Pawnshop:

While they wait, the odd items on display gross out Jennifer. Jack finds an old saxophone and wants it but Jennifer reminds him that he’s tone deaf. They then admire an old typewriter and imagine what it would be like working on a newspaper back then. Jack and Jennifer fantasize about being reporters in the “old days.” In the fantasy, they imagine that Sal robs them mistakenly thinking he’s robbing the bank and they work together to capture the criminal. Sal returns but insists on payment before giving any information.

Police station:

Philip refuses to believe that the file can be true and Max suggests that someone else’s fingerprints had to have been on the file. Bo explains that he only brought Chelsea in because hers was the only fingerprints on the paper inside the file folder. Max begins to consider that Chelsea could really be guilty.

Pawnshop:

Jack pulls a few bills from a stack and hands the bills over to Sal. Sal pretends Jack is joking so Jack doles out a few more bills. Sal takes those bills and the rest of the stack in Jack’s hand. Sal hands them over a list of about 50 names of registered owners with that type of gun. Jack and Jennifer complain about the long list but Sal advises them to concentrate more on recognizing any of the names than complaining about them.

Police station:

Chelsea begs Max to stay on her side and Max asks why he should. Chelsea explains that she came across the file and not realizing it was fabricated, thought she was doing a good thing by leaving it for them to find. Shawn is shocked that Chelsea would think doing this made up for killing Zack and Chelsea adds that she thought it would give Shawn something to live for since everyone knows he still loves Belle.

Mimi’s loft:

Mimi regrets how harsh her comments sounded earlier but asks Belle to not make their situation any more difficult than it already is. Belle denies it but Mimi points out that Belle keeps acting like she, Shawn, and Claire are their own family. Belle insists that her family is with Philip. Mimi fears it will be worse when the new baby arrives.

Belle apologizes for not being more sensitive. Mimi assures Belle that they both are welcome here and Belle offers calling first before simply barging in. Mimi thanks her for understanding.

Police station:

Frankie declares the interrogation over. Philip promises to be taking Chelsea to civil court after her criminal trial and leaves. Shawn tells Chelsea to never refer to him as her brother and leaves. Bo wants to take Chelsea’s statement but Chelsea asks to speak to Max alone first. Bo gives them the use of the office. Chelsea tearfully asks Max to believe in her but Max declares their relationship over and leaves.

Pawnshop:

Jennifer spots a name they recognize on the list and while she and Jack are sure it means the identity of the killer, it will mean that Salem is in for a shock.
