Days of Our Lives Update Friday 9/1/06

Police station:

John shows Eve’s autopsy report to Abe. John notes that Eve died from two gunshot wounds at close range and that her badge is missing. Abe and John speculate whether the shooter took the badge to impersonate an officer or was the mystery stranger. Tek joins them and is surprised to learn that Eve was killed last night.

Brady Pub:

Austin sits alone in a booth with his head in his hand. Lucas asks how Austin is doing given that he’s been through that first post Sami wedding fiasco night. Austin complains that he expected this time to be different and Lucas points out that Sami is usually the one to end up left at the altar. Lucas and Austin agree that Sami’s “Austin is too good for me” rant isn’t the truth.

Sami’s apartment:

Another note addressed to Sami lies on the floor by her door. Sami sleeps fitfully on the couch and doesn’t notice someone walk in the door. Sami screams when she wakes up and sees this person standing over her.

Police station:

John fills Tek in on how they found Eve’s body in the church parking lot. Abe criticizes Tek for not knowing this information when the church was his watch. Tek explains that he turned the watch over to another detective so he could deal with forensics ordered by Roman. Tek tells Abe about finding a good set of footprints and then decided to leave and meet “a friend.” Abe calls him on knowing that “the friend” in question is Lexie.

Brady Pub:

Austin is worried that Sami was visibly worried about something given how she reacted to their talk in the bridal room. Lucas tells Austin that Sami has changed because of him. Lucas suggests that calling off the wedding was Sami’s way of testing Austin to see if he’d still come crawling back. Austin negates that theory because he did plead Sami to marry him and she still wouldn’t. Lucas suggests that EJ was able to get to Sami and change her mind.

Sami’s apartment:

Sami tries to calm down when she realizes that the man standing over her is EJ who has brought breakfast. Sami explains that she was upset because she had been having a nightmare that someone was trying to kill her.

Police station:

Tek admits that he did go to see Lexie but tries to explain that it wasn’t for romance. Abe doesn’t want to hear it but Tek adds that Lexie asked to meet him so she could tell him about Sami’s threatening phone call. John asks why Lexie would know about the call when he believes she didn’t attend the wedding. Tek informs John and Abe about EJ and Sami going to Lexie’s house to accuse her of making the call. Abe finds the idea preposterous but then John decides to tell Abe the rest of the story.

Brady Pub:

Austin doesn’t buy the idea that EJ is vying for Sami so Lucas points out EJ’s knack for always finding a way to be around their group. Austin blames it on work but Lucas doesn’t buy that. Lucas points out how EJ always manages to be Sami’s knight on a white charger. Austin accuses Lucas of being jealous. Lucas continues to plead his case by bringing up EJ’s haunting words before the wedding and how he readily offered his apartment for Sami to stay in the night before the wedding. Austin blames that on Sami being superstitious. Austin reminds Lucas that he once believed Sami had cheated on him with Brandon when she really loved Lucas. Lucas places the blame on EJ rather than Sami. Austin insists that Sami and EJ are merely friends. Lucas still wonders what happened during the time EJ was giving Sami a ride to the church.

Sami’s apartment:

The note remains unnoticed. EJ brings Sami some tea and she has now calmed down. Sami describes the dream to EJ of being chased by a man with a knife. EJ assures Sami that if anyone really did try to kill her, they’d have to get through him first. Sami is hesitant to drink EJ’s tea until EJ admits that it’s his old governess’ recipe. Sami complains that EJ can’t fix the way her life turned out and how Marlena’s affair with John has left her unable to trust anyone. EJ confirms that Sami trusts him. Sami asks about EJ’s childhood and he explains that he had a governess because of the culture and how she would make him this tea every day. EJ then serves Sami the breakfast he made once she agrees to try the tea. EJ explains that while Sami did lock the door last night, he used the key he was given for emergencies. Sami laments how not being married to Austin feels so unusual and EJ seems a little too over interested at hearing Sami swear that she and Austin are through.

Police station:

John has filled Abe in on Sami blackmailing Lexie. Tek adds that Lexie wanted to come clean to Carrie and Austin but then she got the threatening phone call warning her that if she did reveal the truth, something bad would happen to Abe and Theo. John insists on keeping this quiet for Lexie’s safety but Abe is upset that his and Theo’s life is in danger and Lexie didn’t have the courtesy to let him know. Abe is also upset that Lexie chose to confide in Tek rather than him. Tek explains Lexie’s theory of the mystery suspect being out for the Brady family and that is why he ordered undercover protection for the wedding. Abe notes that this means Eve’s death is related to the phone calls and John adds that they were suspecting Eve because of Chelsea’s case which is another connection to the Brady family. Tek voices his worries about the threat to them all and Lexie especially but Abe doesn’t think Lexie should be trusted given her Dimera past. Tek goes after Abe for talking so harshly of Lexie.

Brady Pub:

Austin dismisses Lucas’ concern over what happened between EJ and Sami on the way to the church. Lucas then suggests that Sami feels Austin is still in love with Carrie. Austin doesn’t think there’s any point to talking about this because Carrie is no longer an option for him. Austin and Lucas agree that Sami deserves to be loved wholeheartedly and Lucas advises Austin to go make sure Sami knows he loves her. Lexie comes into the pub and orders breakfast to go. Lexie stops to say hello to Lucas and Austin and offers her condolences about the wedding. Lexie tells Austin that Sami leaving him was the best thing that could have happened.

Sami’s apartment:

Sami insists that it is over between her and Austin. Sami is still convinced that Lexie is behind the threat and she has to stay away from Austin or Will will never forgive her. EJ tries to suggest that someone else could have made the call but Sami doesn’t believe anyone else knows their secret. EJ admits that he’s one of the people who didn’t want Sami to marry Austin.

Police station:

John helps diffuse the heated situation between Tek and Abe. Tek leaves Abe’s office. Roman joins them after having gone through the surveillance tapes from the wedding. Abe wants to know if they showed anything and Roman says that they showed something he isn’t going to like.

Brady Pub:

Lucas stands up for Austin against Lexie’s comments. Lexie continues her harsh talk of Sami angering Lucas even more. Austin tells Lucas to calm down because Lexie doesn’t know that Sami has changed like they do. Lexie scoffs at the thought that Sami has changed. Lucas complains that Lexie’s opinion is too biased. Lexie tries to warn them that Sami still can’t be trusted. Lexie’s breakfast order is ready. Austin stops her from leaving to question her about why Sami can’t be trusted and insists that Lexie spill what she knows about Sami.

Sami’s apartment:

Sami demands to know why EJ doesn’t think she should have married Austin. EJ doesn’t think marrying Austin would have made Sami happy but Sami insists that it would. EJ points out that Austin’s love made Sami want to be a better person but Sami really needed someone who loved her for who she really is. Sami takes that to mean that she’s not capable of being a better person. EJ points out that Austin would rather have had Carrie and Sami doesn’t like being reminded of that. EJ admits that he feels in his heart that Sami deserves someone who loves her completely for who she is and when Sami questions his insistence, he asks if she wants confirmation that he’s falling for her.

Brady Pub:

Lexie claims that she was talking about how much glee Sami took in blackmailing Lexie. Lucas defends Sami’s motives but Lexie doesn’t buy it. Austin wants to know what Lexie is hiding and Lexie claims that she feels, as a doctor, that Sami is pathologically disturbed. Austin is tired of hearing Lexie badmouth Sami and says he’s glad Lexie didn’t show up at the wedding.

Police station:

Roman shows John and Abe that the footage shows that Lexie did attend the wedding. Roman points out that Lexie’s suspicious activity at the wedding and making a point to stay out of sight forces him to consider Lexie a suspect. Abe understands but has Roman assure him that he’ll treat Lexie with the utmost care. Roman suggests that Abe be the one to handle the investigation.

Sami’s apartment:

Sami asks EJ if he is falling in love with her but before he can answer, Sami finally spots the new note. EJ claims to have not seen the note when he came in. EJ hands the note to Sami but Sami refuses to take it.

Police station:

Abe laughs at the suggestion of investigating Lexie. Roman and John agree that Abe is needed because he has an inside track and Lexie would open up to him. Abe doesn’t think, given their impending divorce that Lexie will open up over a simple candlelit dinner. Roman and John think taking Lexie for a romantic dinner is exactly what is needed. Abe laughs at the suggestion of “dating” Lexie.

Brady Pub:

Lexie apologizes for offending Austin. Lexie urges Austin not to give up on looking for the perfect girl for him. Lucas claims that Sami is Austin’s perfect girl.

Sami’s apartment:

EJ offers to throw the note in the trash but Sami stops him. Sami has EJ read the note aloud. The note congratulates Sami on not marrying Austin but then directs her to give up custody of Will to Lucas in order to finally keep her secret safe. Sami refuses to give up Will.

Police station:

Abe still considers the suggestion of dating Lexie to get information from her is absurd. Roman is sure that dating Lexie means that they can eliminate her as one of the suspects. Abe points out that one of the threats was made against Lexie but Roman is skeptical of believing that to be the truth. Abe questions why Lexie would tell Tek about the threat and get police presence at the church. Roman suggests that it could be so she could have Eve there to kill. Abe doubts that Lexie could be capable of murder. Abe asks what he’s supposed to do after they finish investigating Lexie and John leaves that up to him. Roman urges Abe to do this for Theo.

Brady Pub:

Austin insists that he’s going to fight for Sami and declares plans to head over to the apartment to talk to Sami. Lexie warns that Austin will regret it if Sami takes him back but Austin doesn’t want to hear it and leaves. Lucas gloats to Lexie that Sami and Austin will get back together today no matter what Lexie does. Lucas leaves.

Sami’s apartment:

Sami refuses to give Will up. EJ asks to help Sami get through this. Sami doesn’t see how EJ will be able to help. EJ promises to always be there for Sami. Sami and EJ kiss tenderly but then begin to kiss more passionately.
