Jack is impatiently awaiting his dismissal from the hospital while Jennifer and Frankie try to keep him calm until Lexie comes back. Jack suggests that the three of them talk about what they are going to do now that he’s getting better.

Carrie tears herself away from Austin (again) and says that she just can’t do this to Lucas and Sami. Again, Austin doesn’t understand why, if they love each other so much, they can’t be together. She says that they have to let each other go and they can’t keep being this selfish. He is finally realizing that love sucks and pulls her into another kiss, and asks her if that doesn’t feel right. It does feel right to her, and she wants him too. As they are kissing again, the gloved hand cracks open the door and watches them.

Sami busts into Bo’s office carrying the envelope, with E.J. behind her. She gets right to the point and tells him she needs a fingerprint test, and a DNA test done on the saliva under the seal of the envelope. And, she wants this done as soon as possible. He wants to know if there was a crime committed and she denies that, but says that he will just have to trust her. It’s a personal problem. He gets the feeling she’s hiding something from him, like maybe she’s the one that committed the crime. She just wants this as favor, but when it comes to her and favors, he gets a little nervous. An officer hauls Kate into the police station and Sami is the first one to greet her. Kate thinks Sami has something to do with bringing her here; she didn’t, but wishes she did. Kate tells her to be careful what she wishes for.

Kate so suspiciously asks Sami what she and E.J. are doing here so late at night and Sami says that she’s not here to be questioned like a common criminal. (haha) Kate starts threatening Sami and everyone with a lawsuit for having her arrested. She is informed that she hasn’t been arrested, and then is happy to see Bo coming in hoping he could take care of this situation. He tells her that she was brought in at his request for questioning about a crime. Sami interrupts and asks Bo again for help with the envelope. She keeps on and on until he caves, and reminds her that this is the last favor he will ever do for her. As he and Kate step into his office, Officer Michaels comes into the office. Bo hands her Sami’s letter and tells her to have fingerprints and DNA testing done on it. She and Kate exchange glances as Bo turns and steps through the door. Sami and E.J. wait out side the office, and she tells him that as soon as she gets the results to the test, she’ll find out who’s doing this and they will never bother her again.

And, again, Carrie pulls away from Austin telling him that she loves him, but she can’t do this to Lucas. He thinks it’s better to do it now rather than later. She wants to know about Sami. He will tell her, and it will hurt her, but she will get over it. Carrie loves him and wants to be with him.

Jack says that he planned for Jennifer and Frankie to be together and he meant it. Now that he’s not dead, and he’s sorry for all the confusion he’s caused. A nurse comes in and gives him his discharge papers. Frankie announces that he will move back into the garage, but Jack insists he stay with Jennifer in the house. Jennifer reminds Jack that he said the three of them would sit down and talk things out, but as usual, he already has everything planned out for them. He wishes he could clean up the mess that he’s made, but he can’t, and he doesn’t think he should go home with them.

As they arrive at home, Jack continuously insists on staying in a hotel. Jennifer and Frankie will not allow it because he needs around the clock care. He finally agrees, but says he will not stay in their bedroom because she and Frankie are married now. Jack argues with them about the mess he’s made, and tells them that he has legally been declared dead which makes his marriage to Jennifer null and void. He says that they haven’t even had time to consummate the marriage. Everyone is stunned and uncomfortable, and no one speaks.

Bo tells Kate of his suspicions about the motive she would have in connection with the stolen evidence. She knows he’s desperate to prove his innocence here, but now he’s just grasping at straws. He admits that making him look responsible is an added bonus because it would break up him and Hope and then he’d be available for her daughter Billie. She rolls her eyes and laughs, and tells him she had nothing to do with the missing evidence or the break up of his marriage. She also tells him the next time he wants to harass her, call her lawyer first. With that said, she picks up her things, and walks out the door. As Kate storms out of the office, Sami feels like she is definitely hiding something, and believes she knows what it is.

Jack knows that he should never have made the comment about Jennifer and Frankie never even consummating their marriage and tells them he is sorry. This situation is uncomfortable for all of them, and Jack wants them to move on now. He doesn’t want her to spend the rest of her life waiting for him to die. He wants her to be with Frankie, and he goes upstairs alone. Frankie reminds her that Jack is the one she really loves and the father of her children. She says that she loves him too. He knows that, but not the same way as Jack. She can’t be happy breaking Frankie’s heart, and he says that they should just be happy for the time that they were able to spend together.

Carrie professes her love to Austin, but she just can’t keep changing her mind, and all tonight proves is that she is weak. She apologizes for hurting him. He tells her that she doesn’t want to hurt Lucas, but she doesn’t mind hurting him over and over again. She thinks that she doesn’t even deserve him, and that Sami would never do this to him. She knows that everything she’s done lately has been completely selfish and she will not betray Lucas again. She is staying with Lucas and this will never happen again. She leaves him on the roof.

Sami tells E.J. that she thinks Kate must have convinced Lexie to tell her the truth. He thinks she would just go ahead and tell Austin the truth instead of writing notes. Sami agrees, but knows that Kate has done something. Outside in the hall, Kate stops to talk to officer Michaels. The officer wonders if Bo is on to them, and Kate tells her to relax. She says all the evidence points to Bo, and that officer Michaels is not even on the radar with this. Kate just needs to stick to her story and the case will never be solved. She promises.

Kate and Sami run into each other again and exchange slurs. Kate asks again what the two of them are doing here so late at night. Sami slurs again and Kate tells her that she’s so predictable. She can tell when Sami is up to something by the way she changes the subject. Sami does tell her that E.J. is helping her as an officer hands Sami the results of the fingerprint test. (Wow, that was quick) She bids Kate farewell and opens the envelope. She looks up at E.J. and tells him that it was his fingerprints on the envelope.

E.J. says that it was her that had him read it, or his hands obviously touched it while it was floating around the apartment. He asks if she seriously thinks he would have sent that note, and she doesn’t. He wants to know if there were any other prints. There was nothing else. She has a strange feeling that she knows who this person is. They are leaving the P.D. and walk right past the gloved hand pretending to be on the phone.

Jennifer tells Frankie that he was her first love and when she took vows with him, she meant every word. He knows this, but doesn’t want to hold her to those vows. She loves him and Jack both, and knows Jack wants her to be with Frankie. She is so angry with Jack for excluding her from all this from the beginning. Now, she has no idea what to do.

Carrie and Austin are back in the apartment together. Austin doesn’t want to talk about them anymore because it’s over. He says he’s going to bed and she stops him to ask if he’s going to be able to live with their decision. He reminds her that it was her decision, and he doesn’t have a choice. He goes on to bed and leaves her.

Sami and E.J. come back and she thinks that there has to be another way to find out. He just thinks she should tell Austin the truth. They joke around for a minute and she thanks him for keeping her secret and helping her. He kisses her cheek and leaves. He meets Carrie in the hall and she tells him that they need to talk.

Sami gets into bed with Austin and tells him how much she loves him. He wants to hold her.

Kate asks officer Michaels if she knows anything about the tests Sami had them run, and she tells her what she knows. She knows they didn’t find DNA, but did find fingerprints from Sami, Lucas, Austin, and E.J. Wells. Officer Michaels says she’s worried about Bo because he’s not going to give up when the alternative is loosing his wife. Bo calls Hank and tells him he’s working on a case and he’s calling in a favor from him. He says the hotel switchboard keeps a record of all phone calls guests make, and he needs the records for Kate Roberts.

Jack stands outside Jennifer’s bedroom and listens to her and Frankie talk about him. Jennifer tells Frankie that their first priority is taking care of Jack and helping him get well. Frankie asks what then, what if she doesn’t loose Jack. She just doesn’t know, but if he wants to leave, she’ll understand. He asks if she wants him to leave, and she shakes her head no. He will never leave as long as she wants him to stay. Jennifer has no idea how she feels at this point, and Frankie says the only thing they should even be thinking about right now is Jack’s health.

Bo thanks Hank for sending the information on Kate. Kate and officer Michaels talk and Kate tells her she’s not underestimating Bo, but officer Michaels is underestimating her because there is no way anyone could expose what they did, and there is no way anyone could know about it. As she is saying this to officer Michaels, the hand is listening.

E.J. understands what it is like to love someone that you shouldn’t or couldn’t be with. Carrie seems surprised and he tells her that her secret is safe with him. She promises that it will never happen again. He’s glad because Sami belongs with Austin and she belongs with Lucas.

Austin sits up in bed and tells Sami how much she means to him, and she tells him how much she loves him and can’t wait to be Mrs. Austin Reed. As she says this, he imagines that Carrie is the one lying there next to him saying these things. He tells Sami that he’s been thinking about his future with the woman he loves. Freeze Frame.
