Lucas’ apartment:

Will continues to hide around the corner and eavesdrops on Sami and Lucas. Sami and Lucas finish their kiss and Sami takes it as a sign that they belong together. Lucas points out that Sami kissed him and caught him off guard. Sami claims that still proves her point because Lucas didn’t have time to think about it and only kissed Sami back because he was reacting with his heart. Sami doesn’t understand why Lucas is still against the idea so Lucas holds up the Stan costume in Sami’s face. Sami brings up how Austin has forgiven her as a way to get Lucas to do the same but the mention of Austin and how he now lives and works with Sami only angers Lucas more. Lucas calls Sami on the fact that she lied when he asked if there was anything more he should know about when they were in the war zone as proof that he can’t trust her now. Sami begs for another chance but Lucas declares that he has made up his mind and there’s nothing anyone can say to change it. Will makes his presence known by walking out and asking if he gets a say in this.

Chez Rouge:

Nicole sips her martini at the bar while she flashes back to dancing with Austin. Nicole wonders whom Austin came back to Salem for and why he is being so secretive about it. Austin joins Nicole at the bar with the news that their table is almost ready. They agree how it’s nice to get out since living and working in Sami’s apartment feels a bit crowded. Nicole says this may be better for her because she is on her own and starting to see that there could be life after Brady. Nicole jokes about how she can write the whole dinner off as a business meeting. Austin declares that he really asked Nicole to dinner tonight to talk about their future.

Brady house:

Hope is working on the family finances as Bo comes into the living room with two cups of coffee. Hope complains of not being able to balance the checkbook and Bo digs out the bank note that shows he withdrew another $250 to cover what he gave Chelsea. Hope factors in the bank note and confirms that the checkbook now balances. Hope voices her worry about how the second $250 given to Chelsea put them over their monthly budget but Bo brushes off her concern. Hope begs Bo to promise that he isn’t going to make it a habit to give Chelsea money. Bo refuses to promise.

Deveraux house:

Jack and Jennifer are sound asleep in their bed when the phone rings. Jack answers the phone and in a whisper, tells the caller that he’ll call them back in a couple minutes. Jack slips out of bed doing his best to not wake Jennifer but stops to kiss her head before leaving the room with the phone and his clothes. Jennifer wakes up and reaches out for Jack but finds him gone. Jennifer calls out to him but there is no answer.

Jack, now dressed, makes his way outside and returns the call. Jack tells the caller that he is still interested in assisted suicide and only needs to know how to go about doing it. The caller mentions the name of a place in town and Jack jots it down on a slip of paper. Jack tells the caller that he is on his way and leaves. Jennifer, now having dressed herself, steps outside and calls out to Jack but there is no answer. Jennifer turns back toward the house to try calling Jack on her cell phone but as she’s dialing Frankie comes bursting through the gate and grabs her. Jennifer screams and Frankie backs off looking horrified.

Brady house:

Bo insists that he is going to talk to Chelsea about her spending before giving her anymore money but refuses to promise that he won’t give her anymore money when she needs it. Hope claims that she doesn’t want Bo to not help out but suggests that Billie could help out more financially. Bo complains about Hope’s reference to Chelsea as some extravagance they can cut back on. Hope points out that if Chelsea only cut back on a few extravagances, they wouldn’t be having this conversation right now. Bo doesn’t answer. Hope tries to get Bo to see that Chelsea is playing on his sympathies and he is falling for it every time. Bo denies it and prefers to look at it as giving Chelsea few dollars every now and again so she can feel like she has someone to depend on.

Deveraux house:

Both Frankie and Jennifer try to catch their breath. Frankie explains that he thought someone was breaking in. Jennifer explains that she was out because Jack went out alone and she’s worried that something might happen while he’s out alone. Frankie assures Jennifer that they will find him. Jennifer is grateful to have Frankie around.

Bookstore:

Jack sneaks up to the address he was given but pauses at the front door. He begins to reconsider his decision to come. Jack decides to come back in the daylight tomorrow but just as he’s turning to go, the door opens. An elderly gentleman greets Jack and has been expecting him. Jack suggests coming back tomorrow but the gentleman ushers Jack inside with the comment “death awaits.”

Chez Rouge:

Austin tells Nicole that she’s been doing a great job and he sees what he hopes to be a very long mutually beneficial association. Nicole tries to hide her embarrassment when she realizes that Austin meant their company when he said their future. Austin gushes about how they are ahead of schedule they will soon move into office space and also will soon be rolling out the first line of products since they are now in development. Nicole is confident that they will be a success. Austin admits that he wouldn’t mind if they took things a bit further, which piques Nicole’s interest. Austin leans over and kisses Nicole.

Lucas’ apartment:

Lucas starts to reprimand Will for eavesdropping but Sami stops him to claim that Will has a right to say what he thinks as part of the family. Will thinks that if Sami and Lucas still love each other, then they should do whatever it takes to get back together. Sami apologizes to Will for her actions and Will points out that Sami is always sorry and none of this would have happened if she would only trust in Lucas’ love. Sami vows that she’s learned her lesson and will be good from now on. Lucas has a hard time believing Sami. Sami promises to do whatever it takes to earn Lucas’ trust again. Will believes Sami and asks for Lucas to do so too. Lucas says he can’t do it again and what he and Sami had is over. There is a knock on the door and Lucas greets Sophie who has arrived early for their date. Will and Sami watch in shock as Sophie kisses Lucas.

Brady house:

Hope points out how Billie agrees that Chelsea’s frivolous spending needs to have consequences and if Bo keeps bailing her out from facing that reality, then things are going to be even tougher for Chelsea. Bo agrees with Hope but still claims that it’s only a matter of agreeing on what the money should be spent on. Hope agrees with that claim and kisses Bo. Bo asks if the argument is over but Hope claims it wasn’t an argument. Bo still claims it was an argument and Hope asks if they are going to argue over whether they were just arguing. Bo interrupts to insist that they skip right to the kissing and making up part and kisses Hope. Hope pretends to feel faint and says it was almost worth arguing to get a kiss like that. Bo jokingly calls her on using the term “arguing.” Hope insists that she meant to say discussion. Hope plops down in the chair to use her laptop to check email. Bo plops down on the couch to watch the game on TV. Hope delights in finding an email from Cathy Sullivan, an old friend from boarding school whom she hasn’t heard from in ages. Hope’s face drops as she explains to Bo that Cathy wrote to ask about Shawn’s law school progress since that’s what they talked about last time. Hope complains that Shawn is throwing his future away by being a mechanic. Bo maintains that Shawn could make good money at that job. Hope claims it’s not about the money and whether something is wrong with being a mechanic, she only wants the best for their sons. Bo insists that this is what is best for Shawn and suggests that Hope should be happy for Shawn. Hope claims that Shawn won’t be happy without a degree and recalls how Shawn promised upon high school graduation that he’d finish college. Bo inquires for more on that thought and Hope vows that Shawn will get his degree even if she has to drag him to school every day.

Deveraux house:

Frankie tries to assure Jennifer that Jack is fine. Jennifer isn’t so sure because of the phone call Jack got on his cell phone at such a late hour. Frankie doesn’t have an answer for that but spots the piece of paper Jack wrote the address on and then unknowingly dropped.

Bookstore:

Jack reluctantly enters the house. Jack likens the décor to Harry Potter but the man doesn’t know of whom Jack is speaking. Jack is surprised that the man wouldn’t know about Harry Potter when he runs a bookstore. The man explains that they only carry certain specialized books. Jack whispers as he tells the man that he was told to come here by the assisted suicide hotline. The man tells Jack that he is aware of Jack’s situation and matter of factly states that Jack has come here to die. Jack gulps.

Lucas’ apartment:

Lucas pulls away from the kiss and invites Sophie inside to show her that Will and Sami are there too. Sami wipes her tears and scoffs at Sophie’s attempt to apologize. Lucas confirms that Will will be fine and then says goodbye to Sami with more of finality before following Sophie out the door. Sami thanks Will for sticking up for her and offers to hang out with him tonight but Will tries to make a quick exit by claiming he has homework. Sami stops him by suggesting they make plans to hang out another time but Will says no for he will have a lot of homework this years and shoves the Stan costume into Sami’s arms before heading into his bedroom and slamming the door. Sami sobs, throws down the costume and storms out.

Chez Rouge:

Nicole and Austin deepen their kiss. It all turns out to be Nicole’s fantasy as Austin has really been spending the past few minutes going on about their company’s newest products. Austin warns that things could get grueling and Nicole insists that work is her whole life. Austin offers his condolences about Brady but Nicole claims now that she knew all along that there was no chance once Chloe came back. Austin says he knows how it feels to love someone whose heart belongs to someone else and that’s why he didn’t come back to Salem sooner because he waited until he knew a certain someone was free. Nicole mentally wishes that Austin would come clean and say whether it’s her or Sami that he’s after.

Park:

Sami sits on a bench and sobs. Sami talks to herself about how she’s sure Lucas loves her and tries to think of a way to get him back. A woman sits down on the bench next to Sami and tells her not to kid herself for she is sadly mistaken to think that her man is ever coming back.

Brady house:

Bo takes the computer away from Hope and sits face to face with her as he insists that they let Shawn make his own decisions and stand on his own two feet. Hope claims to support Shawn no matter what but doesn’t think it’s so bad that she wants Shawn to have a degree. Hope admits to exaggerating earlier as she talked of dragging Shawn against his will but asks Bo to be there to back her up when she has a serious talk with Shawn about going back. Bo promises to back Hope up but adds that if Shawn doesn’t budge, he won’t force him to do something against his will. Bo likens the situation to Chelsea but Hope says it is different because Shawn respects Bo whereas Chelsea doesn’t respect anyone. Zach, having suddenly appeared at the bottom of the stairs, interrupts to ask why they are fighting since the noise woke him up. Bo picks Zach up and he and Hope insist that they were merely having a loud noisy discussion. Hope says goodnight to Zach and Bo carries him back upstairs to bed. Alone, Hope wonders what is happening to her and Bo.

Bookstore:

Frankie and Jennifer go to the address written on the paper after confirming that it is Jack’s handwriting. Jennifer thanks Frankie for coming along and Frankie says he’d do anything for Jennifer. They hug.

Jack fears that he’s made a mistake and shudders when the man pats him on the back. The man leans in close to Jack as he says that he knows Jack came here because they are the only place in Salem that carries underground publications on assisted suicide. Jack asks for the book so he can get home to Jennifer before she wakes up. Jack jokes about how Jennifer will be so upset that she’ll kill him if he doesn’t get home before she wakes up. Jack has a hard time in rephrasing how mad Jennifer will be without saying things like “she’ll kill me.” The man steps away to get the publication. The man turns back to make sure Jack knows that there are other options. Jack maintains that this is the only way for him so the man continues his trek for the book.

Chez Rouge:

Nicole complains that Austin keeps taunting her by mentioning the woman he came back for but Austin only apologizes for bringing it up. Nicole asks Austin to tell her who the woman isn’t but Austin doesn’t think that would even be fair. Nicole persists but Austin says he’s learned to be wiser now and keep his mouth shut until the time is right. Nicole claims that she understands and Austin asks her to dance. They head out onto the dance floor.

Lucas and Sophie arrive. Lucas is worried that the place Sophie chose to celebrate his first day at Titan is a little too expensive but Sophie insists on treating Lucas. Sophie explains that she thought they could merely start here with sparkling cider toasts and then head over to Buddy’s for burgers. Lucas likes the idea but seems distracted. Sophie asks about the scene she interrupted back at the apartment and Lucas explains that Sami was trying to get back together with him. Sophie pries for Lucas’ answer to Sami and he vows that there is no way in hell that he’ll be going back to Sami. Sophie is glad to hear that and heads to the bar to get their drinks.

Park:

Sami is put off by the woman’s uninvited interest in her business. The woman pulls out a flask to drink from and relates Lucas to her man who left her and now acts as if she never existed. Sami insists that Lucas isn’t like that. The woman pulls a cigarette from behind her ear and asks Sami for a light but Sami explains that she doesn’t smoke. The woman introduces herself as Janet. Janet tells Sami that her man dumped her because of the secrets she kept so she finally had to give up on him. Sami doesn’t understand how one can give up on true love but Janet points out that love is a two way street. Janet tells Sami about how while she sat pining away, her man hooked up with another woman. Sami dismisses the mention by claiming that the woman probably meant nothing to the guy. Janet insists that real life doesn’t turn out like a romance novel and guesses correctly that Lucas is already out with Sophie. Janet advises Sami to dry her tears and get herself a new guy. Janet leaves to beg a stranger walking by for a light. Sami decides that Janet is right and if Lucas can move on so can she.

Brady house:

Bo tucks Zach back into bed. Zach asks to be told a made up story. Bo uses the evening’s situation between him, Hope, and Zach only changing the family into royalty as a story before kissing Zach good night.

Chez Rouge:

Sophie and Lucas finish their drinks and start to head out when Lucas spots Nicole and Austin dancing. Sophie doesn’t understand why that is such a bad thing but Lucas says that Austin, Nicole, and Sami are technically involved but chalks it up to a long story and escorts Sophie out. Sophie stops Lucas on the way out to give him a kiss now that they think they are truly alone. Sophie and Lucas walk off arm in arm just as Sami walks up and watches them leave. Sami heads into Chez Rouge for a drink.

A waiter brings Nicole and Austin’s drinks to their table. Austin holds out one of the chairs for Nicole and once she realizes it, she tries to make her way back over to his side of the table but instead ends up tripping and falling into Austin’s arms. Sami walks up in time to see Nicole and Austin in each other’s arms and vows to not let Nicole get away with this.

Bookstore:

The man brings Jack the two books on assisted suicide and disappears into the back closing the door behind him. Jack looks at the book titles and, though still hesitant about the idea, declares that this is what he’s been looking for. Jack drops the books in surprise when Jennifer and Frankie walk through the door. Jennifer picks up the books and is shocked at what she sees.
