Belle’s loft:

Philip walks the living room with Claire in his arms. Philip, in a jovial tone, assures Claire that Belle only got a little emotional and once she wakes up, they’ll go upstairs and give her a kiss. Philip looks up from Claire and sighs.

Loft roof:

Belle climbs the ladder to the roof and spots Mimi and Shawn kissing. Belle starts to climb back down the ladder but then decides to climb back up again. Belle starts to cry as she watches Shawn and Mimi stop kissing long enough to resume dancing. Belle starts to climb back down the ladder but a noise she makes alerts Mimi and Shawn. Shawn calls out to ask who is there but Belle remains quiet and though still on the ladder, she has climbed down far enough not to be seen from the roof.

Alice’s:

Lucas pours two drinks and Sophie walks off to deliver them. Roman walks up and Lucas answers his questioning by explaining that he’s covering for Shawn tonight. Lucas serves Roman a beer and then tells him about his new job with Victor when Roman asks about working in a bar given Lucas’ alcoholism. Roman tells Lucas that he deserves the good fortune after what Sami did to him. Lucas questions how the charges against Sami could be dropped and Roman says to thank Austin for that. Lucas says that he doesn’t know what Austin is thinking because he thought Sami is a traitor. Lucas steps away and Roman turns around to watch Austin and Nicole playing pool.

Nicole leans over the table in front of Austin as he takes his shot and pretends to be sympathetic when he misses. Austin playfully accuses her of not playing fair and Nicole pretends to be shocked that Austin can’t handle a small distraction. Austin quips that the distraction isn’t small. Nicole, with Sami sitting at a table within earshot, reminds Austin of their bet and gloats about the prospect of Sami being all by her lonesome. In retaliation, Sami gets up and messes up Nicole’s next shot. Even though Austin and Nicole object, Sami declares that Nicole’s game is now over. Nicole vows not to let Sami get away with it.

Chez Rouge:

Alex reaches out and takes Marlena’s other hand, as he demands that John let go of Marlena. John insists that he’s talking to his wife but Alex maintains that John needs to respect Marlena’s wishes for a divorce and to be left alone. Alex threatens to call the police. Kate, to avoid a more physical confrontation as John starts to advance toward Alex, warns Alex that this is not a fight he wants given the mood John is in. Alex does not care about John’s dangerous mood and tells Kate to save her breath. Kate accuses Alex of threatening Marlena but Alex insists he is protecting Marlena. John tells Marlena that she is making a mistake with Alex but Marlena calls John on being out to dinner with Kate. John claims that Kate is only a friend and she isn’t using him like Alex is using Marlena. John asks for time to work things out but Marlena doesn’t think that’s a good idea. John tells Marlena that they were once the love of each other’s lives and to not expect him to just walk away.

Kate accuses Alex of trying to romance Marlena. Alex insists that he’s only trying to help Marlena recover and the constant interference of John isn’t helping. Kate reminds Alex that John is Marlena’s husband. Alex thinks that will change soon if Marlena has her way and insists that if John really cared about Marlena, he would stop pressuring her. Alex steps away to call the police. John asks Marlena to say she isn’t giving up on them but Marlena doesn’t want to talk about this right now. John agrees to that as long as the option of talking in the future remains open. Marlena is in a hurry to leave but John asks her to promise to lock her door when she goes to bed. John explains that he doesn’t want Alex paying Marlena any midnight visits but Marlena thinks that he means that she is sleeping with Alex and adamantly denies it. John says he doesn’t trust Alex, flashing back to seeing them dance closely on the balcony, after the way he saw them together. Marlena asks John if he is spying on them.

Alice’s:

Sophie stops at the bar to drop off two empty beer bottles and then walks away. Lucas explains to Roman that while he doesn’t want Sami to go to death row, he doesn’t think it’s right that she should just walk free. Roman says that while he isn’t making excuses, as Sami’s dad, he’s glad she didn’t go to jail. Roman is hopeful that Sami will use this chance to put the pieces back together. Roman curses the fact that he was wrong about Sami finally growing up and being good with Lucas. Sophie smiles as she thinks Lucas and Roman are looking her way but then she walks away when she realizes that they are looking past her at Sami and Nicole who are arguing across the room. Roman adds that he thought the same about him and Kate but Lucas insists that he can’t forgive Kate either. Lucas is hopeful that by Kate losing Roman, it’ll teach her not to butt into everyone’s lives. Roman tells Lucas that he feels there’s a good woman out there for him but doesn’t think the same for himself. Bonnie perks up when she overhears Roman’s comment about being pickier and having baggage no one wants to deal with. Bonnie joins them at the bar and offers herself for some female companionship. Roman and Lucas awkwardly exchange glances.

Austin walks over to Sami and Nicole and yells at them for arguing. Austin threatens to go back to New York tonight if they don’t stop and they quickly say no in unison. Sami assures Austin that she and Nicole can get along and Nicole puts her arm around Sami and claims that they are good buddies. Austin, though skeptical and rolling his eyes, heads back over to the pool table. As soon as his back is turned, Sami pushes Nicole’s arm off of her and yells at Nicole for throwing herself at Austin. Nicole calls Sami on acting like a jealous teenager. Sami warns Nicole to stay away from Austin. Nicole tells Sami to face the fact that Lucas and Austin don’t want to have anything to do with her. Sami denies it. Nicole insists that Austin is a free agent and there is nothing Sami can do to stop her from making a play for him. Nicole walks off. Sami scoffs and vows to stop Nicole dead in her tracks.

Loft roof:

Shawn checks inside the stairwell and Mimi scans over the side of the building. Both confirm that they didn’t see anything. Belle continues to climb back down the ladder. Shawn suggests it was the wind knocking something over but Mimi suggests it was a ghost from their past.

Belle’s loft:

Philip burps Claire when she begins to fuss. Philip resumes pacing the living room with Claire in his arms. Philip urges Claire to be quiet so Belle can rest. Belle comes downstairs and explains that she couldn’t sleep. Philip hands Claire over to Belle and notes how her hands are freezing. Belle admits that she was on the roof to get some air. Philip isn’t happy to hear that Belle, who was just given a sedative, went out the window and up the fire escape. Belle insists she is fine and apologizes for getting upset earlier. Philip tells Belle about Lexie’s diagnosis and quotes statistics he looked up online. Belle flashes back to seeing Mimi and Shawn kissing on the roof and declares to Philip that she thinks her emotional state could be something else.

Loft roof:

Mimi explains that by her earlier comment, she meant that the rooftop has a lot of history of people who are in love. Mimi notes their initials carved in the door and laments that the magic didn’t rub off on them. Shawn insists that they’ll leave those memories behind and make new ones. They kiss again. Mimi asks Shawn if he’s ready to take the next step.

Alice’s:

Bonnie serves Roman a free beer when he polishes off his first bottle and proposes a toast to not being miserable for long. Roman realizes that Bonnie heard about him and Kate. Bonnie remarks that it can’t be easy being Sami’s father because Sami’s shenanigans would drive anyone to drink. Lucas returns to the bar long enough to drop off some empty glasses and joke about having dodged that bullet. Roman agrees that Sami has been a challenge. Bonnie offers to give dealing with Sami a shot and heads over to talk to Sami. Roman watches as Bonnie walks off. Bonnie mutters under her breath that while the way to a man’s heart may be through his children, she’s not sure there’s any getting through to Sami.

Having resumed their game of pool, Nicole purposefully brushes up against Austin as he surveys the pool table. Bonnie walks up to Sami, who is watching Nicole and Austin with a sad expression, and warns her against using jealousy to lasso in a man. Bonnie calls Sami on the fact that she claims to be in love with Lucas but is setting her sights on Austin.

Austin sneaks glances over at Sami as he leans over the table to take his shot and angers Nicole when he completely ignores her attempt to distract him by slipping her shirt strap down off her shoulder. Nicole yells at Austin for thinking of going back to Sami and Austin shakes his head in disbelief when he turns to face Nicole.

Chez Rouge:

Marlena wants to know when John saw her and Alex together and John claims that he’s talking about when they were up at the cabin. John complains that Alex’s answer then was that sometimes these things happen during therapy. Marlena maintains that she was acting out of transference but John insists that Alex is trying to get close to Marlena and is behind her asking him for a divorce. Marlena thinks the idea is absurd and impossible but John only repeats his request for her to lock her bedroom door. Marlena, though thinking that John is overreacting agrees to do so. Kate walks up to them with Alex and tells John that Alex won’t call the police if John allows him to take Marlena home now. Marlena says she is ready to go and walks away with Alex. John thanks Kate for getting Alex away from him and Kate asks how it went. John says he tried but isn’t sure he got through. Kate suggests they head back to the hotel and order room service but her elation at John’s acceptance is short lived when he adds that he likes the idea because it’ll enable him to keep a closer eye on Alex and Marlena.

Loft roof:

Shawn is leaning over the side of the roof lost in thought and Mimi nervously asks for his thoughts. Shawn says he is really enjoying this but thinks they should take it slow. They each agree that it’s good that the other has been there because it has helped them each through some tough times. Mimi agrees that they should take it slow after Shawn points out that they’ve both just gone through big breakups. Mimi rubs her arms in the cold and Shawn, rubbing Mimi’s arms to warm her up, suggests they head back downstairs and Mimi offers to make some hot chocolate. Shawn kisses Mimi’s forehead and holds open the door. Mimi pauses to warn herself not to ruin this and then thanks Shawn as he allows her to pass through the door first.

Belle’s loft:

Belle puts Claire in her bassinet as Philip asks for Belle’s theory on why she is so emotional. Belle thinks that it’s because she is afraid of losing the baby and Philip. Philip hugs Belle and then makes her look at him as he assures her that he loves her more everyday and makes Belle laugh as he insists that she’s stuck with him. Philip insists that Claire is going to love Belle even more than he does. They kiss and hug again. Belle tearfully tells Philip that she loves him.

Mimi’s loft:

Shawn and Mimi return to their loft via the fire escape and Mimi laughs in the middle of telling Shawn about dessert because he has snuck up behind her and started tickling her. Shawn is shocked that Mimi made dessert but Mimi admits that she actually bought it at the bakery. Mimi pulls double chocolate lava cake from the refrigerator and they both laugh as Mimi jokes that it’s a fitting dessert considering she set dinner on fire.

Belle’s loft:

Belle and Philip can hear Mimi and Shawn’s laughter through the vent and Belle complains that they don’t have better soundproofing. Philip thinks it’s nice to hear Mimi and Shawn laughing and having a good time but Belle isn’t as thrilled. Philip questions Belle about it and she admits that she does have a problem with Shawn and Mimi getting so close.

Alice’s:

Bonnie advises Sami to pick one man and pursue him instead of straddling the fence with two men. Sami tries to walk away but Bonnie keeps talking. Bonnie uses a ranching reference to joke about the homonym between “roamin’” and “Roman.” Sami isn’t at all pleased that Bonnie is talking about her father in this way and insists that Bonnie won’t be dating Roman.

Sami walks away from Bonnie and joins Roman at a table. Roman asks what is wrong and Sami complains that Lucas doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. Roman encourages Sami to accept the fact that she and Lucas are over. Sami is adamant that she is going to get Lucas back in time. Sami walks away. Bonnie brings Roman another beer as she joins him at the table. Bonnie tells Roman that her attempt to talk to Sami didn’t work either. Roman jokingly asks if Bonnie is trying to get him drunk as he happily accepts the third beer but Bonnie smiles as she claims she is only trying to cheer him up.

Sophie walks up to where Lucas is clearing a table and asks for his answer to her request for a date. Lucas turns her down. Sophie counters by offering to make it a non-date date but Lucas turns her down again with the explanation that he just went through hell with Sami and isn’t ready to date anyone right now. Sophie jots down her phone number and hands it to him as she tells him to give her a call when he’s ready. Lucas pockets the number and agrees to think about calling when he’s ready and starts to walk away. Sophie calls him back to assure him that she can make him forget about Sami. Lucas nervously chuckles and heads back to the bar. Sophie finishes clearing the table and walks off with a smile. Sami, having been listening from around the corner, starts to cry.

Sami continues to silently cry and eavesdrop on Nicole and Austin’s conversation. Austin asks Nicole why Sami bothers her so much and Nicole says it is because Austin can’t take his eyes off of Sami. Austin insists that he and Sami are just friends and while they could never be more, he won’t abandon her either. Sami, still hiding around the corner, thanks Austin for being able to count on him.

Penthouse:

Alex puts Marlena’s shawl over her shoulders as they stand out on the balcony. Alex offers to go inside but Marlena says she likes being out in the cold. Alex offers to make some herbal tea. Alex calls Marlena’s attention back as she seems lost in thought. Marlena explains that she was thinking about John. Alex pulls the pendant from his pocket and Marlena, upon looking at it, then tells Alex that she’s tired and wants to go to sleep. Alex puts the pendant back in his pocket and kisses Marlena on the cheek before wishing her sweet dreams. Marlena bids him goodnight and heads back inside. Alex insists that he’s worked too hard and come too far for Marlena to go back to John.

Kate’s suite:

John watches Alex through binoculars from Kate’s window. John hopes that Marlena heeds his warning about keeping Alex at a distance tonight. John watches Alex head back inside.

Alex plays back the recording he has made telling Marlena to trust only him and to divorce John. Alex deems it perfect and heads upstairs with the tape recorder in hand.

Alice’s:

Austin walks up to the bar and orders a cup of coffee, referring to Lucas as “bro.” Lucas sarcastically repeats Austin’s use of the word “bro” as he serves him. Austin picks up on the attitude and Lucas explains that he’s angry with Austin for getting Sami off on charges she should have faced. Austin can’t understand how Lucas can go from loving Sami to wanting to see her fry. Lucas insists that while he doesn’t want to see Sami fry, he does believe that she needs to be punished for her crimes or she’ll never learn. Austin tells Lucas to give Sami a chance but Lucas accuses Austin of falling for Sami again.

Sami insists to Nicole that her plan isn’t going to work for Nicole can play pool topless and Austin won’t give her a second glance. Sami starts to walk away but Nicole grabs her arm and scoffs at the suggestion that Sami has a chance with Austin because she bets Austin is thankful every day that he had the smarts to leave Sami at the altar. Sami considers herself the victor because she got farther with Austin than Nicole did. Nicole suggests that she should have followed Austin to New York but Sami thinks that that relationship would have never worked. Nicole is adamant that she isn’t’ going to let the opportunity slip away again and vows that she and Austin will be together. Sami warns that that will only happen over her dead body.

Belle’s loft:

Philip wants to know if Belle still has feelings for Shawn. Belle replies that Mimi and Shawn are her closest friends and are now Claire’s godparents. Philip sees that as even more of an incentive for them to be a couple. Belle worries that it’ll get messy if it doesn’t work out and someone will get hurt. Philip thinks that it’s worth the chance because Mimi and Shawn seem like they belong together. Belle tearfully looks toward the vent as more sounds of Mimi and Shawn’s laughter can be heard.

Mimi’s loft:

Shawn feeds Mimi a forkful of cake from his plate. Mimi agrees to have one more bite and Shawn laughs as he acts like he is going to feed her the second forkful but instead smears the cake on her face. Mimi can’t help but laugh as Shawn purposefully uses his fork to smear the cake all over Mimi’s mouth. Mimi starts to get up to wash it off but Shawn claims it would be horrible to waste the cake and kisses it off. Shawn jokes about liking chocolate lipstick as they deepen the kiss.

The deeper kiss leads to more intimate behavior on the couch. Shawn suddenly realizes what they are doing and backs up off of Mimi with an apology. Mimi reluctantly agrees that Shawn was right to stop. Shawn uses a napkin to clean the rest of the chocolate off of Mimi’s face. Shawn puts in a movie he rented and Mimi leans into him once he returns to the couch.

Belle’s loft:

Philip reveals that he has bought Belle a box of her favorite chocolate truffles. Belle opens the box and indulges in the first bite. Philip delights in the smile it brings to Belle’s face. Belle kisses Philip in thanks and asks him to make love to her. Philip hesitates but Belle insists that she knows her own body and is fine to which Philip is more than happy to oblige.

Alice’s:

Bonnie brings Roman a plate of ribs and when he mentions not wanting to eat alone, Bonnie grabs a stack of ribs from his plate as an offer to join him. Roman offers Bonnie the seat across from him and they dig in. Bonnie quips that the ribs are just one of her many specialties.

Austin denies falling for Sami but Lucas doesn’t believe him. Lucas calls Austin on spending a lot of time with Nicole too but Austin insists that they are only playing pool. Lucas accuses Austin of wanting everything that Lucas once had and Austin accuses Lucas of being out to make everyone as miserable as he is.

Sami tries to storm off but Nicole grabs her arm again and calls her Stan. Nicole vows that hell will freeze offer before she takes orders from Sami. Nicole claims that Sami not liking her pursuit of Austin will only make it that much sweeter. Sami warns that if Nicole does so, she will tell everyone in town what Nicole did.
