John’s bedroom:

John and Kate are sleeping in John’s bed. Kate tosses and turns as she talks in her sleep about not hurting Philip. John wakes with a start, as the pain gets too intense. The movement wakes Kate and John apologizes for waking her. Kate offers warm milk or tea and John flashes back to hiding the pills. John turns down Kate’s offer and decides to take a hot shower. Kate offers to help but John turns her down again. John heads into the bathroom but suddenly he screams and there is a loud crash. Kate rushes into the bathroom.

Mimi and Rex’s loft:

Mimi and Rex return home. Rex dotes on Mimi, offering to make her some soup but Mimi turns him down, not wanting to be treated like an invalid. Mimi is still upset that she can never have Rex’s children but Rex urges her to stop blaming herself because this isn’t her fault. Jan walks into the living room and starts to talk about how this really is Mimi’s fault but Rex stops her. Jan tries to continue but Rex yells at Jan to shut her mouth or he will do it for her.

Park:

Belle cries as she hastily walks through the park. Shawn catches up to her and asks her to wait and talk to him about what Jan said. Belle flashes back to her conversation with Jan. Belle allows Shawn to hold her as she wonders how they ended up in this mess.

Tony’s hideout:

Tony watches through the glass window in the door as the enemy soldiers torture Philip. One enemy soldier ties Philip to the chair as another soldier splashes water in Philip’s face. The first soldier pulls Philip’s head back so they are face to face and demands that Philip tell them who he is and what he was sent to do. Philip recites his name, rank, and serial number.

Bart rushes up to Tony to warn him that they can’t find any sign of Jack. Tony remains calm.

Jennifer’s house:

Jennifer is looking at a picture of Jack. Jennifer looks heavenward as she tells Jack that she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life alone, yet she can’t think of life without him. Jennifer sees Jack’s reflection in the picture and faints. Jack catches her and brings her around by assuring her that he is really there. Jennifer is full of questions so Jack tells her about the phone message he left. Jennifer rushes to the answering machine and plays the message. Jack kisses Jennifer’s head and savors the feel of her in person. Jack erases the message. Jack vows never to leave Jennifer again and they kiss.

Park:

Shawn tries to calm Belle down but she can’t be consoled. Belle hates that everyone around them is sad while they are happily planning their future together. Shawn reminds Belle that they have had their share of hell but deserve to be as happy as anyone else. They walk away from the park, arm in arm.

Tony’s hideout:

The enemy soldier backslaps Philip while Bart and Tony watch from outside the door. Bart remarks about how that must have hurt. The soldier grabs Philip around his throat and repeats his demand. Philip looks the soldier in the eye and with a scowl, repeats his name, rank, and serial number.

Tony and Bart back away from the door as Tony remarks that the soldiers are laying it on a bit thick. Bart is still worried about Jack. Tony continues to act like he isn’t worried at all.

Jack & Jennifer’s house:

Jack can’t wait to see Abby and Jack Patrick and starts to run upstairs, thinking that they are asleep in bed. Jennifer stops him to explain that Jack Patrick is with Doug and Julie and Abby is spending the night at Chelsea’s house. Jack realizes that this means that they have the house to themselves and he and Jennifer hug tightly, relishing the feel of being in each other’s arms. Jennifer wants to know everything that happened. Jack looks beyond Jennifer and spots the picture of Patrick with Jennifer, Abby, and Jack Patrick. Jennifer explains that Patrick has been living at the house. Jack fears that he is too late but Jennifer assures him that Patrick is living in the apartment over the garage. Jack apologizes for jumping to conclusions after Jennifer is offended at the accusation. Jack explains that he had nightmares that Jennifer and Patrick had moved on together. Jennifer assures Jack that he is the only man she could ever love. They hug and kiss again. John interrupts the reunion to call Abe, John, and Bo and tell them what happened.

Rex’s loft:

Jan is annoyed that Rex is threatening her with physical violence. Rex says he’s willing to make an exception on the rule of not hitting a girl. Jan continues to taunt Rex about Mimi’s secret. Rex thinks that Jan is talking about Mimi having PID and Jan decides to change the subject by asking about Belle and Shawn. Mimi breathes a sigh of relief. Mimi complains that Jan shouldn’t care about where Belle and Shawn are and Jan insists that Shawn is still her fiancé. Rex reminds Jan that Shawn told her that they are through and wants to know why she is even in their loft. Jan believes that Shawn is just a little confused. Mimi quips about how Shawn isn’t the one who is confused. Jan gets angry and threatens Mimi but Rex steps in between to yell at Jan about making crazy threats. Jan continues to refer to her relationship with Shawn, which makes Rex yell that Jan doesn’t have any relationship with Shawn. Jan still claims this to be true, asking Mimi for confirmation on it. To get Rex to leave, Mimi asks him to run to the pharmacy and get her prescription filled. Rex doesn’t want to leave Mimi alone with Jan but Mimi assures him that she can handle Jan. Rex kisses Mimi goodbye and gets up to leave. Jan assures Rex that she’ll take good care of Mimi. Rex reminds Jan of his threat and leaves. Jan joins Mimi on the couch and sarcastically gushes about how great a guy Rex is. Jan warns Mimi that her goodbye kiss with Rex might be her last.

John’s bathroom/bedroom:

Steam is filling the bathroom from the hot water running in the shower. Kate finds John on the floor amongst broken glass and rushes to his side. John explains that he went to turn the water on and his legs gave out. Kate helps him stand up. John gets aggravated and bangs his cane against the wall. Kate helps John out of the bathroom and back to his bed, offering to call someone to come clean up the mess.

Tony’s hideout:

The enemy soldiers continue to toss Philip around in an effort to get him to talk. Bart and Tony continue to watch through the window in the door. Bart is amazed that Tony stays so calm while he is dealing with all of the Salemites being held prisoner in the castle, Philip, Georgia, and Sami/Stan. Tony gloats about how Stan has contributed to what he’s sure will be John’s demise whereas he is only getting warmed up.

Belle’s loft:

Shawn and Belle have returned to Belle’s loft and Shawn has made Belle a soothing drink to help her calm down. Shawn returns to the topic they started in the park and Belle repeats that she doesn’t think they should be happy while others are so sad. Shawn admits that they are surrounded by a lot of pain and suffering and Belle fears that there could be more to come. Shawn decides that this is a sign that they shouldn’t wait any longer to be together.

Tony’s hideout:

One of the enemy soldiers informs Tony that they can’t get information out of Philip. Tony tells the soldier to try a new tactic and remind Philip of his wife and mom at home. The soldier asks why they are doing this and Tony yells at him for asking for more information that he needs to know. The soldier agrees and heads back into the room. Bart is still worried that Jack will blab and then Tony will feel the wrath leading to his ultimate demise.

Jack & Jennifer’s house:

Jennifer stops Jack from dialing the phone and explains that John is very sick and Abe is going to go blind. Jack asks about Bo and Jennifer tells him about Bo and Billie’s search for Georgia. Jack curses Tony but Jennifer tries to assure him that Tony is dead. Jack tells Jennifer that Tony is really alive and was the one holding him prisoner. Jack has Jennifer sit down before he tells her the rest of what happened.

Tony’s hideout:

The enemy soldiers can be seen, through the window in the door, slapping Philip around. Bart is worried about Tony’s calm demeanor. Bart can’t believe that John is going to be able to hide being on drugs again from Kate, Brady and Nicole. Tony assures Bart that John will not allow himself to be caught again.

John’s bedroom:

Alone, John eyes the drawer in which he hid the pills. John pulls out the case and takes out the bag of pills. John puts the bag of pills back in the case and then the case back in the drawer just as Lexie and Kate enter the bedroom. John is angry that Kate called Lexie. Lexie shows her concern and John lashes out at her for not giving him something strong enough to help. Lexie is taken aback so John explains, in a much calmer voice, that he is having a tough time. Lexie suggests readmitting John to the hospital but John refuses to go. Lexie leans down to get in John’s face and asks him to be completely honest with her. John insists that Lexie knows all there is to know. Lexie prepares to examine John.

Mimi’s loft:

Jan continues to taunt Mimi about her abortion. Jan pulls the appointment slip out of her purse. Mimi tries to grab it from her but Jan holds it out of her reach as she jokes about making extra copies just in case. Jan continues to taunt Mimi until Mimi can’t stand it in anymore and yells at Jan to shut up. Jan smiles.

Jan repeats her terms for keeping Mimi’s secret and Mimi tries to convince Jan once again that Shawn wants Belle and not her. Jan believes that Shawn will return to her because she’ll have sex with him whereas Belle won’t while she’s still married to Philip. Jan suggests that they talk strategy.

Tony’s hideout:

The enemy soldiers note how Philip is wearing a wedding ring and announce that they are going to give Philip a chance to say goodbye. They begin setting up a video camera, trained on Philip. Philip’s scowled reflection can be seen in the one sided mirror on the door.

Bart asks Tony what he plans to do with the video camera and Tony explains that this will make Belle suffer with guilt the rest of her life. Tony tells Bart that Jack must be brought back to the castle immediately. Bart wonders how Tony can be so sure that they’ll find Jack in time and Tony simply states that the alternative is unthinkable for he can’t let John win. Bart worries that they might be too late.

Jack & Jennifer’s house:

Jack has told Jennifer about how he was held prisoner with Cassie and he believes that all the other victims were being held there as well. Jennifer has a hard time believing all of this and asks if Jack is sure that Cassie is still alive. Jack explains that as far as he knows, she is and still can’t believe that Jennifer didn’t get his first phone message. Jennifer explains that everyone thought they were all lost at sea. Jack insists that Tony is behind keeping all of the victims prisoner. Jack is desperate to contact the ISA and get an agent over to that castle. Jennifer says she knows exactly who to call and begins dialing the phone.

John’s bedroom:

Lexie determines that John was not injured by the fall but that it probably aggravated his muscle sprain. Kate tries to convince John to go back to the hospital but he insists that he’s fine. Lexie promises to check on John tomorrow and leaves the bedroom. Kate follows Lexie out into the hall to talk.

Penthouse hallway:

Kate tells Lexie about how the sleeping pills aren’t working anymore. Lexie asks Kate how she is holding up but notes that Kate isn’t too upset over the breakup of Sami and Lucas. Kate dismisses the comment and explains that she is worried about Philip being on the dangerous mission. Kate explains that Philip may not even make it home alive and if he does, what’s waiting here for him could destroy him.

Tony’s hideout:

Philip relays to Kate via the video camera a tender message about not letting his death in service to his country destroy her. The enemy soldier sarcastically laughs. Philip starts his message to Belle.

Belle’s loft:

Shawn tries to convince Belle to send Philip the Dear John letter. Belle wants to wait until Philip walks through the door but Shawn points out that it won’t be good for him to be greeted with such news upon walking through the door. Shawn explains that what happened to Mimi has made him realize how precious life is and how they shouldn’t waste any moment. Shawn offers to stop pushing Belle if this isn’t what she wants but Belle agrees to send Philip the email. Belle sits at the computer and ponders where to start. Shawn tells her to write exactly what she would say if Philip was standing in the room right now. Belle looks across the room and imagines seeing Philip standing before her. Belle imagines getting up and standing face to face with him as she types the email. Belle imagines seeing Philip’s reaction as she types that she must tell him the truth even though it will hurt. Belle types that their marriage was a mistake and she now realizes that she is still in love with Shawn.

Mimi’s loft:

Mimi wants Jan to leave her alone. Jan asks if Mimi is going to help her or not and Mimi tells Jan to go to hell. Jan declares that she will tell Rex the truth as soon as he comes back. Rex overhears her as he is walking back in the door and yells at Jan for telling lies and not laying off Mimi. Jan continues to taunt Rex and Mimi about Mimi’s secret but Rex doesn’t believe that he and Mimi have any secrets. Rex wants Jan to spit it out and tell him what proof she has of this secret.

John’s bedroom:

John fights the urge to reach for the drugs again and begs for Marlena’s help to get him through the addiction withdrawal.

Penthouse hallway:

Kate tells Lexie about Belle and Shawn still being in love. Kate thanks Lexie for stopping by and Lexie sees herself out. Kate vows make Shawn pay for nearly killing everyone at the wedding.

Jack & Jennifer’s house:

Jennifer ends her phone call to Alice. Jack is shocked that Jennifer called Alice to contact the ISA and Jennifer explains that Alice is close to Agent Spector. Jack is anxious to be doing something to help and Jennifer tells him that he is going to be reuniting with his wife tonight. Jennifer promises to show Jack tonight how much she has missed and loves him. They kiss.

Tony’s hideout:

Bart can’t understand how Tony can be so confident. Tony finally loses his cool as he refuses to allow Jack to ruin his plans. Tony presses the intercom button outside the door to be able to hear Philip’s message to Belle.

Philip uses the video message to tell Belle how much she means to him. Philip praises Belle’s character and promises to take the memories of being with her to his grave as he fights back the tears.

Belle’s loft:

Belle continues to type as she imagines telling this Dear John message to Philip in person. The vision of Philip disappears as Belle’s vision of herself turns back to face her. Belle ends the email and Shawn urges her to send it. Belle places her hand on the mouse to send it just as the phone rings. Belle answers the phone and it is Bilbo who delivers the news of Philip being missing in action. Belle screams into the phone and sobs. Belle drops the phone as she collapses to the couch. Shawn rushes to her side and tries to comfort her.
