Brooke wakes up with Ridge lying in bed and staring at her. He likes watching her sleep. She wishes they had longer together. It’s a busy day with making plans for Storm’s memorial service. Donna and Eric also are basking in the morning after. He tells her that his children will respect her, both here and at the office. She advises that she doesn’t want to be a distraction, she wants to help. He assures her the company is different now, he’s a completely different man and that was a thousand years ago. She knows she is not getting in on the ground floor like Stephanie so she can’t build an empire. He lets her know that he’s worried a bit about Stephanie since she has pulled away. She hasn’t told the kids where she is going or answered any of their calls.

Stephanie wakes up with a snap of her neck and a creak in her chair. It awakens Kate who is surprised to learn that Stephanie spent the night in her room. Stephanie states that she just fell asleep, but she is going now. Katie reminds her that she doesn’t need to be watched if that is why she stayed. Stephanie quips she thought she might need someone to look out for her and besides she forgot to make a hotel reservation.

Eric offers his house when he hears Donna is going to be meeting with Brooke and making plans for Storm’s memorial service. She doesn’t think that will work out with the way his kids feel about Storm. He assures her this is her home too now, so if she wants it here, then have it here. She asks how did she get so lucky?

Brooke laments that Storm deserves to be remembered as a loving brother, back with his family. Ridge admits he had a lot of issues with Storm, but he won’t speak ill of the dead. She states he wasn’t perfect, but they all thought he was. She spent years idolizing him. And then in the last few minutes of his life, she saw the worst in him. And he died thinking she thought he was a monster. Is that what did it? Did she push him over the edge? He assures her that no, her brother was desperate. He was going to jail and his sister was dying. It doesn’t matter why he did what he did. So any way you look at it, Storm saved Katie’s life. It’s ironic, now she hates him.

Donna is surprised to come down the stairs to find her dad. He says Eric let him in as Eric was leaving. She asks is that everything? He answers yes, Storm didn’t have much in the way of things, just the water polo trophy, diplomas, his law degree, and a lot of pictures of him and the sisters. They were his legacy. She comments they have a lot to do, why don’t they concentrate on that? She’s called the caterer who did the wedding and she thinks they can get something together on short notice. Now she needs to get a car for her mom. Stephen says actually no, she’s not coming. It would be too traumatizing for her to travel. But she doesn’t want them to postpone it either. She knows the family needs closure.

Stephanie shares that it’s weird, one day you wake up and realize your world has turned upside down and it’s just too late to fix it. Katie asks if she is comparing her brother’s death to her divorce? She thinks for a moment and says well she didn’t mean to. Katie wonders if that is what she is telling herself. In a month or two she will stop missing Eric. Stephanie confronts her and says now they are finally getting to it. This is what Katie is afraid of. So listen to her – there are some wounds that never heal. They just don’t. But, if she is surrounded by people that love her, and she lets them love her, then she can get on with her life.

Donna asks if Stephen would postpone the services? He answers yes, he thinks Katie and her mother deserve a chance to say bye to Storm. He realizes Katie is angry and confused, but eventually she will get past that and when she does she will regret missing the memorial. Upon contemplation, Donna says no, they are having it tomorrow as planned. It’s supposed to be a celebration of Storm’s life. As upset as Katie is, no telling what she would say or do so Donna doesn’t even want her there.

Ridge tells Brooke that Katie really doesn’t hate Storm. She’s only upset right now. Brooke knows that. Katie thinks they are romanticizing all of this and they are glossing it over to forget the ugliness of it. Brooke reminds him they all lost a brother, Katie isn’t the only one. She did not hear the gunshot, but Brooke did. She knew the minute she heard it. She sobs she was so grateful for what Storm did for Katie, but she can’t get that image out of her head. He holds and comforts her.

Eric is glad that Stephanie showed up at the office as he had asked. She hopes the kids didn’t do something silly like alerting the police. He says that was probably the next step. So how is she? She relates that she is okay, but he has a lovely new wife at home and Stephanie is no longer his concern. He points out that he will always be concerned for her. She tells him about going to see Katie in the hospital. He says that is another reason why he wanted to see her today; to compliment her on the way she handled everything, the wedding yesterday. He just wished their children had followed her head. She points out that it was very difficult for them. He knows, but he thinks they could have done better, and he’s disappointed. She says they did the best they could. And Eric made his young bride very happy at a very difficult time in her life. She thinks it’s interesting as you never know how someone is going to act like that under pressure.

In a locker room, a young African-American male is looking at a newspaper clipping of Donna and Eric. He takes out his cell phone and makes a call to get a reservation non-stop to Los Angeles.

Stephen strokes Katie’s face and wakes her up again. He says her sisters told him that she is having some problems. He tells her they are going to postpone the ceremony until she can attend. She says no need to do that as she is not going, so matter when it is.

Stephen tells Katie that he loves her, she’s his baby. He left her mother when she was so young that they never got a chance to have a relationship and he wishes they had. She says it doesn’t matter now. He says it does to him. She tells him none of this is his responsibility. Yes Storm was angry at Stephen, so angry he shot Stephanie and blamed it on his dad, but no one wants to talk about that. She is not minimizing his life, he was her hero, her confidant, her protector. And that’s why she can’t believe he did something like this, it’s just not him!

Stephen says he was his only son and he wishes he was still alive. He’d give anything, but not if it meant Katie…..She answers that she doesn’t know why Storm did what he did. She will be answering that over and over for the rest of her life. She is sure that Storm thought he was doing the right and honorable thing. But that is why it is so confusing. How can they call him a hero when he killed himself? That is not her Storm. He was her hero when she was growing up, when he protected her, when he took up for her when the kids at school made fun of her. And he gave her the confidence to pursue her dreams. So that is why she doesn’t understand this. Only a desperate, desperate person would find the answer in suicide and she is sorry if she sounds ungrateful, she is sorry for everything. He acknowledges yes Storm was desperate….they all were…..as she lay there dying and they could do nothing about it. But they can do something now as a family. She shakes her head and says no, she just can’t. She can not go to that memorial service. She can not pay tribute to him. She is too angry and confused. She is angry that she will never see him again. She can not be grateful nor does she know how she will live with this when every heartbeat reminds her. He says okay, for her to get some rest, but he for one is grateful that she is with them still. As he walks out, she is painfully aware of her heart monitor.
