Brooke tells Nick that Taylor is not stable enough to watch Jack all by herself. So how could she just walk in and announce that she is taking him? He says he talked her into not taking him last night, but she’s coming back today and he doesn’t know how to handle this.

Rick lets Ashley spray a new fragrance sample on his wrist and he sniffs and really likes; he thinks it’s sexy. She quips that it is designed to be an aphrodisiac for the x-y demo for both men and women. She’s been working on it for the longest time. He asks does it have a name? She replies that she was thinking about ‘eau let’s get busy’. He comments that he thinks it needs to be a little more direct than that. She thinks everybody is going to be buying it when they realize it turns on their partner, and it definitely seems to be working. Rick’s mind seems to have wandered and he tells her he just has a lot on his mind. She recommends that he tell her; he can tell her anything. He relays that Taylor moved out; away from Nick and the baby. She’s moved back to her house in Bel Air and is all alone. And he just doesn’t want her to be alone right now, so he’s going to go check on her when they are done. Ashley thinks that is sweet, it must mean a lot to Taylor too. He says he hopes so; he just wants her to be happy. He thinks Ashley should check in on her too, but meantime she has him.

Ridge drops in on Taylor and says he thinks she did the right thing by dumping Nick and moving back home here. She agrees that by having her own space she thought that would make things better and it has given her clarity. He remarks that clarity is good, hard to come by when you are involved with Nick Marone but he sure is glad she saw the light as soon as she did. He asks is she aware how Phoebe has reacted to all of this? She says yes, and she feels badly about that. She shouldn’t be worrying about her; it should be the other way around. Ridge reminds her that she has always been an amazing mother and that’s one thing they always agreed on, the kids come first. He asks if she doesn’t mind, can he ask what sort of arrangement she has with Nick about Jack? She tells him she left, but did not take the baby. But now she has the house baby-proofed and the nursery is ready, and she’s going to get him today. When she sees how glad he is, she asks if he was a little afraid that Brooke might to spend more time with Jack now that Taylor was out of the house? He admits he would be lying if he said it didn’t cross his mind. She points out that Brooke should be minding her own business. Jack is her son, not Brooke’s. She also reminds Ridge that he is out of his mind if he marries Brooke. This whole thing started because she wanted to find out if she could conceive Nick’s baby. She really isn’t over him and he’s not over her. Ridge can not deny that and he can’t change it. He says well he really doesn’t want to believe it either. She says she really doesn’t care what he does with Brooke, that’s his problem, but she does care how she affects her life and interferes in it with her child. So Ridge can just tell her to back off and leave her and her child alone.

Brooke challenges Taylor. She’s so messed up and she’s really concerned about this. Nick mentions that he was hoping Taylor had changed her mind, but he hasn’t heard from her, so guess he won’t. Brooke states they can not let Taylor take “our son”. She doesn’t trust her with little Jack. They have to find a way to stop her. He says it’s sad what she has been through, Taylor doesn’t deserve this. Brooke agrees, Taylor doesn’t deserve this, but it did happen. And there is nothing they can do now about it. The important thing now is Jack and they must do all they can to protect him. He laments that he has waited his whole life to have a child, and now he has him, but he has to recognize that Taylor is part of him too. And she has a right to be with her son. Brooke sighs, Nick is not alone. She turns him to face her and says she will always be there for him……and their son.

Ridge confides that Brooke knows how he feels about Nick and the baby and that he has suggested they not rush into marriage right now. He loves that woman and he knows she loves him and he believes they are going to have a long and happy life with R.J. and Hope. But he just needs the dust to settle with Popeye before they move on here. He remarks that he knows how difficult this has been for her; they shared a life and still do with their kids…and he says he will always care for her and do whatever he has to do to help her get through this. She thanks him, but says he doesn’t have to worry about her. She has made a very new unexpected friend who has been very good to her. He’s totally surprised when she says it is Rick. He’s a kid with a chip on his shoulder, and based on what he did to Phoebe last year, not to be trusted. She takes Rick’s side. Maybe he grew up, but he’s a total stand-up guy. He’s been amazing and there for her all the way. He’s reached out to her and she’s very grateful for his friendship.

Rick tells Ashley he feels responsible for the toll this is taking on Taylor since it was his mother and sister that pushed her to that edge. She shouldn’t have to suffer this way and everybody needs someone. Even when you are alone, you shouldn’t feel like you’re alone. So he’s been spending time with her, reminding her how special she is. Ashley tells him that he is pretty special, does he know that? He laughs and says yeah he does. Then he drifts off again in thinking about and saying how extraordinary Taylor is. He remembers she was planning on doing something today, and he thinks it is a bad idea. Ashley thinks he should tell her that. Even if she doesn’t listen, at least he will know he tried. He offers that he will do that. She tells him that he’s pretty remarkable. He’s sweet…..and some lucky girl is going to steal his heart…so he better go or she won’t let him go at all and she’s got way too much to do on her aphrodisiac.

Rick and Taylor have a little difference of opinion. He can’t begin to understand how it must feel for her to actually carry a baby for nine months and then give birth. It must be a tremendous bond, but he’s just trying to figure out what’s best for her in the long run. She claims that what is best is that she be with her son. He brings up the possibility of his mother getting back with Nick, and she agrees but still Jack belongs with her and she can not turn her back on him. She is not taking Jack away from Nick. She would never do that….she’s just a mom that wants to be with her baby…she loves him. Rick reminds her that his mother loves him too. Taylor points out that Brooke has no legal rights to Jack; she wasn’t supposed to be the biological mother. And she’s not just going to hand him over to her. He says fair enough, but what about Nick? She comments that the only issue she had with him was her husband being in love with another woman. Rick tells her that he just doesn’t want her to suffer anymore grief over this, he wants her to be happy and he’s worried about her. She tells him she is not going to lie. She misses Nick, but now that the truth is out, it has set her free. She doesn’t have to look over her shoulder and worry about her marriage all the time. She’s free to move ahead and love her baby and focus on him. She tells Rick that she’s really fine….she’s moved on and she even has a plan….a plan to start a new life with herself and her son.

Brooke sympathizes with Nick. She knows he’s waited a long time for this child and how much Jack means to him. He confesses that yes he does. He thinks about him all the time, before he goes to bed, when he wakes in the morning….he consumes his entire day and he can not grasp the fact that he will be taken from this house….his house. She admits it sounds so wrong. Nick knows Taylor has her rights too and it’s not right for her to be separated from her son. This is not how he imagined things to be…..Jack’s first steps, his first words, doing homework with him, teaching him to throw a ball….girls and how to sail. He wants to be a part of all of that. He wants Jack to have the father he never had. And he wants him to have a mother that loves him unconditionally, “the way I will always love his mother.” Brooke acknowledges that she knows Nick loves her and wants her to be part of his life. And part of her wants that so much, so much it hurts. She says she does love him, she will always love him.

Rick wants Taylor to honestly tell him that she doesn’t see Brooke when she looks at her son. She confesses you can’t break that mother-son connection. She could never give him up….he’s hers. Rick surmises even if it means her possibly being hurt again? She admits she has been through a rough time and has been tested, but she thinks she has passed. And it was really never about the baby. The problem was they were trying to build this life together and Nick couldn’t do it because he still had feelings for Brooke. And she is sick of competing with her. She vows she will never get into another relationship like that. Rick tells her he can think of one man who she will never have to worry about competing with Brooke. She thinks he is being a comedian, but he says he is serious, very serious.

Brooke says she loves Nick……but there is a big but……..this is her last chance to be with Ridge….to marry him and have a future with him and R.J. and Hope and her last chance to be in the Forrester family. R.J. loves his father so much, she couldn’t disappoint him. Nick thinks that is admirable, but what about him and Jack and the way that she really feels? She says she thinks about that all the time, the family they could all be, but it’s not that simple. Nick says yeah, but he believes they can overcome anything they want as long as they do it together. She reinforces again that she loves him, but she loves Ridge as well. She hates this feeling of being divided. And if Ridge heard her right now, he would end it for sure. She can’t let that happen, not again.

Nick tells her that she doesn’t love Ridge the way that she loves him. She fell in love with the man when she was eighteen years old. She put him on a pedestal and he was like a little dream to her. And now she is a big grown-up woman and everything about her has changed. She knows it won’t work. That’s why she is not married to him right now. She’s certainly had the opportunity and the time. What they have is truth and honesty, and that is not what she has with Ridge. And that little boy R.J. is gonna grow up and he will realize one day that she sacrificed what was in her heart for him…and she will have to be the one to live with that.

With tears streaming down her face, he tells her that he is not going to beg. She knows that he loves her and they both know how she feels about him too. Crying, she glides into his arms and clings. “You’re in my heart, Nick. You’re still deep in my heart.” He takes a deep breath, caresses her hair, kisses her neck and says that is all he wants to hear.
