A pair of high heels and a luscious mouth text messages Rick, announcing a voice from his past and she can’t wait to see him. She’s in L.A. Au revoir.

Rick conducts a mini meeting with Rita, Davis and Phoebe sitting in to learn how the business works. Alone she is all over him and he has to remind her they can’t do this here. They deserve a real relationship and they can’t be sneaking around trying to be with each other. She pouts that she hates this. So does he, but says it won’t last forever. He promises it will be alright, people need to know they can trust them and they need to be adults about this. She says she can if he can.

Eric, Stephanie, Bridget and Felicia all agree on some new designs for the collection. Felicia states she can’t believe the launch is going so well as Bridget comments especially with the family trying to pull off a wedding too. Stephanie offers there might not be a wedding. Eric asks her to not even go there. Stephanie says Bridget will find out anyway and then blabs that Rick and Phoebe went to the cabin by themselves, with Brooke’s blessing. And Ridge found out and was very upset. And she says it’s a good thing she knew what was going on, otherwise no telling what might have happened. Eric seems shocked at Felicia, the most open-minded person in the room. She laments that she is, but she draws the line when it comes to relatives hooking up. Bridget reminds her that Phoebe and Rick don’t consider themselves related. Felicia says it doesn’t matter to her if they are related by blood or not, it’s still creepy. And if the press finds out, there will be a huge scandal that they can’t afford. Eric agrees, they don’t need a scandal right now. But it’s Rick he’s really worried about. He’s afraid for him to get involved with someone as young as Phoebe. It could be very dangerous.

Ridge walks in and tells his mother that she’ll be happy to her that Phoebe and Rick called it off last night. She wants to know who told him that? He asks does that matter? She says yes, if Brooke said it, because he’s heard that before, and she was lying.

Brooke walks in on Phoebe, she’s looking for Ridge. She tells Phoebe she knows she is still mad at her, but Ridge is right. They can’t keep seeing each other. It’s too complicated. Phoebe says they are not hurting anyone, and deep down she knows Brooke believes that. Brooke says that for the sake of the family, it must end. Phoebe is sick of hearing about the family. It’s so unfair; don’t their feelings count? Doesn’t she want her son to be happy? Isn’t she good enough for him? Brooke assures her yes. Phoebe fires that she thought she could count on Brooke, to stand up for her beliefs, like her mother would have done (which she did NOT discuss at all with her mother). She says Brooke sold out all so she could get a wedding ring on her finger.

Ridge tells his mother why doesn’t she let him handle Brooke? She quips how many chances is he going to give her before he actually calls off the wedding. He says he appreciates the heads up about Rick and Phoebe, but that’s where it ends. The matter has been settled. Felicia and Bridget want to get back to discussing the opening of the stores. Ridge tells them to wait a minute, there is something they need to understand. He and Brooke have resolved things and they are back on the same page now. The wedding is going to happen whether they like it or not. He would still appreciate everyone keeping an eye on Rick and Phoebe, but he thinks they finally got the message. There is NO way they would dare cross that line.

The mysterious woman calls Rick again at his office, but he tells his secretary he’s too busy. Just get her name and number and he will call her back.

Brooke explains to Phoebe that if she insists on seeing Rick, it’s going to be one obstacle after another…..and not just from Ridge, but the entire family….and the press. It will be a huge scandal. Phoebe says whatever, just forget about it. Brooke asks if she has talked to her mother about this? Phoebe tells her no. Brooke asks if that is because she is afraid she will feel the same way that Ridge does? Phoebe tells her to quit trying to change the subject. This is not about her mother, but about Brooke. She had said she would stand up for them, and then she didn’t, makes you wonder. Brooke asks – wonder about what? Phoebe suggests they aren’t even married yet and already she is letting her father do whatever he wants to do. Sounds like a dictatorship to her, not a partnership.

Bridget comments to Ridge that she certainly hopes he’s right about Phoebe and Rick. Felicia quips so does she, but they are young and in love, so this won’t be easy staying apart. Stephanie points her finger at Bridget and says especially if her mother encourages it. Eric tells them to come on, listen to Ridge and let him handle Brooke. She’s an integral part of the company and will be leaving for Australia any minute now. She doesn’t need this added stress.

He gets a phone call reminding him that Brooke has set up a meeting regarding the new fragrance. He tells them it’s only a meeting, but he thinks it’s a great idea. Ridge says it’s not worth pursuing unless the family is up to the challenge. Stephanie gets rather hostile and wonders who is NOT up for the challenge, she and his father certainly are. Ridge says good, because if the family is going to succeed, they all have to come together and support each other. “Otherwise, this family is going to pay a very dear price. And I’m not just talking financially.”

Brooke tries to explain to Phoebe that her relationship with her father is just fine. Phoebe suggests only when he gets his own way. Brooke says that is not the way it is. Sure they have arguments and disagree, that’s normal in a relationship. In fact, sometimes arguing can bond two people closer together. She really doesn’t want to make Phoebe upset, she only wants peace in the family. Phoebe still thinks it is unfair. Brooke reminds her that she has been battling Stephanie for so long over Ridge. If anybody understands this situation, she does. Now she can see what Stephanie was doing, just protecting her son. The same way that Ridge is trying to protect her. Phoebe whines that she doesn’t need protecting, she’s not twelve. Brooke explains that just because she is adult doesn’t mean she is all grown up. She’s got a lot to learn, to figure out who she is, what she wants to do. Rick has already done that. He’s been on his own, traveled the world. She should do those things too, she has so many options open to her. And then when she is older, she can come back to Rick. Good things are worth waiting for! Phoebe asks but what if Rick can’t wait? What if he meets someone else, or there is someone back in Paris? Brooke tells her that Rick really cares about her, and there is no one else in his life. Trust her on that!

Rick is puzzled as he rustles through a stack of phone messages but doesn’t find the one from the mystery woman. Then suddenly the lady herself is on the phone saying she is speaking to the “man himself.” She looks forward to seeing him. Surprisingly, he says he’s in the middle of something, can he call her back? She says that’s okay, she’ll let him go and see him soon.

Brooke is waiting in Ridge’s office when Stephanie comes in to see him too and decides to wait with her. She snides that she sees she has managed to pull the wool over his eyes once again. They exchange barbs about sabotaging and Brooke reminds her the relationship is over and she thinks it’s for the best. This isn’t fooling Stephanie. Brooke confesses she only wants her son to be happy. Is that so terrible? Stephanie questions that – with Phoebe? She tells Brooke that while she is in Australia, she’s going to keep an eye on them, and if there is any funny business, she won’t be there to defend them. Brooke offers that while she is in Australia, why doesn’t Stephanie take the time to adjust her attitude? Since, she gloats, she is going to be Mrs. Ridge Forrester again. Stephanie shakes her head and laments that the family would be better off without that. Brooke retorts that she can see it’s going to be a pleasure being her daughter-in-law once again. Stephanie shakes her finger and smirks, “you know that wedding on Rodeo Drive, it’s not a done deal!”

Ridge reflects back on the times he threatened to kill Rick if he dared cross the line and then when he threw him out of his own mother’s house. Phoebe walks in but ducks out when she sees her dad. Unfortunately he spies her too and calls out for her to wait. He announces he knows he’s not her favorite person in the world right now. And he wishes things weren’t so strained between them. She says she’s simply not ready to get into another fight with him. He lost it when he saw her with Rick up at Big Bear. She points out nothing happened, she told him it wouldn’t. (excuse me, I believe she WANTED it to, it was Rick that called a halt). And it doesn’t matter if she wanted it to happen or not, Rick wants to slow things down so they are taking a break. She is sure he will be thrilled. Ridge says he is happy. And he knows this is best for everyone. She may not see that now, but in time he hopes she will. She says her feelings are not going to change. She and Rick will be together and she will wait as long as she has to. Ridge wonders if she can say the same for him, and she replies yes. Ridge says she doesn’t sound very convincing. Rick is a young man…he’s experienced……red-blooded. He’s lived the life of a bachelor in Europe. Guys like that don’t usually stay single very long. She asserts that Rick wouldn’t do that to her. He promised they’d figure this out. And they will. But, if they don’t…..IF they don’t, it will be Ridge’s fault and she doesn’t know if she will ever be able to forgive him.

Rick rushes back to his desk and again rifles through his messages when he thinks his secretary is walking in. He looks up to see Ashley Abbott….of course, he remembers he stutters. She smiles that it’s good to see him again, and is this a bad time, she can come back? He assures her it is not a bad time at all and the pleasure is all his.
