Phoebe and Rick try to set things straight and she insists she does not consider him a low-life. In fact, they don’t even know what they are bickering about. He offers to take her home; she agrees since she is suddenly not feeling well. They find that Shane has split. Rick thinks he stuck her with the tab, but she says they hadn’t ordered yet.

Stephanie questions Eric that since when is he the knight in shining armor for the Douglas family? She says her mother is her cross to bear, not his. He remarks that no, it has been Pam’s cross to bear all these years and it’s not fair. Stephanie can’t understand why he won’t let Pam go back to her life in Chicago. He counters with that would be alone. Doesn’t Stephanie see how she has ‘blossomed’ since being here, tagging along volunteering at the hospital, cooking, always the life of the party. Stephanie offers okay, Pam knows she can visit anytime she wants. They just don’t have to move the both of them out here, lock, stock and barrel. Eric reminds her that time is NOT on Ann’s side. She still thinks she had a right to know what he was planning. Firmly, he says well now she does. He made the decision and they are going to stick with it. And she is going inside and welcome her mother to L.A. She lets him know that he placed her in an untenable position and she wants him to know that she resents it.

Storm meets Nick at the Café and is told to do what he has to do to set up the meeting with the elusive Harvey Golden, who could be a recluse, a gangster or doesn’t even exist. He runs into Brooke as she comes in, they kiss and Storms says he has no time to talk, gotta run. She spots Nick and goes over. He juggles papers and she assures him she is not interested in his top secret documents. He quips he will show her his if she will show him hers. She counters with he better be careful what he wishes for – “Captain”.

On the garden terrace, Phoebe says she wishes it were five years from now and she wouldn’t be so immature. She laments how she lived in London, but never had a boyfriend and now she has a job that she doesn’t even know how to do. He offers – if he may – that perhaps she is taking this a little too hard. He doesn’t think Shane McGrath is worth it. She admits she only went out with him to see if Rick cared….and why would he? And then she made a complete fool of herself, as she is doing now again. She confesses she didn’t want him to leave before, but she does now.

Eric shows Ann the brochures and tells her that he will take her there first thing in the morning. Tonight she can stay in the guest house, he thinks she will find it comfortable. Immediately she asks Pam to get her bags. Eric says he will. Right now he thinks there is something Stephanie wants to say to her. Reluctantly, she tells her mother that keeping in mind what she said earlier, that it would have been impolite not to come and take a look, “welcome to Los Angeles.” Ann gushes that she doesn’t know how good it feels to hear those words……living close to her two girls, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren……and her handsome son-in-law. Oh, if it were only that simple.

Brooke asks Nick if this is how he has his meals or just his tequila? He comments they have to be committed when you’re in the fashion business. Seriously, she asks is things working out the way he hoped? He asks her the same, but doesn’t wait for an answer. He tells her that the personalities are different, but he has a well-oiled machine and her son has really helped out, he likes him. She’s concerned when he says Rick has come to see him twice, but not to worry, he’s not going to try to steal him though he’d like to. Then he has a little question for her to chew on. How many men is Ridge friendly with? She offers that he and Rick are too much alike, that’s all. Nick differs, they are nothing alike. He tells her to put that soon-to-be husband in a room and see who gravitates toward him and who away from him. He’s not a man’s man, but a woman’s man. She asks what terrible fate does that lead to? He thinks she knows the answer to that.

Ann laments that they flit around in their limos like movies stars or secret agents. She would feel like a lost soul living that way. But, she agrees if it means that much to them, she could try it. Stephanie is appalled when Eric tells Ann alright, she will have a car and a driver at her disposal. And she comments on clothes, she wouldn’t want them to be ashamed of her in her dowdy clothes people might make fun of. He says clothes she shall have. Again, Stephanie shakes her head in disbelief. He agrees to a whole new wardrobe. Anything else? Ann declares she would just die if he were to put her in one of his fashion shows. She’s been told she sort of has a flare for that. Stephanie about dies too. Gleefully, Ann tells Pam that it looks like she has found a new home……and Pam will be free of her at last…..almost!

Rick asks if she wants him to leave this moment…..tomorrow……next week? She admits no. Can’t she want and not want the same thing? Truthfully she asks how does he think of her? Does he see her like a kid? He says no (though he told Nick she was)….as a basket case? No. He confesses that he sees her, thinks of her in many different ways. For one thing, she has never not been in his life. She complains that it seems big, dramatic things happen all around her, but not to her. He wonders if she puts him in that category too. She says he won’t happen to her either.

Brooke asks if Nick has heard about Thorne and Taylor and he says yes. How is Phoebe since she is staying with Brooke and Ridge? How well do her and Rick get along? Brooke admits too well to suit her father. He says boys will be boys. She tells him Rick did not do anything wrong. She fills him in that according to Ridge, if you didn’t know any better, that it might look like things were romantic between Rick and Phoebe….looking at the stars….it reminded her of the night that the two of them were on the island. He pretends that he doesn’t remember, and she says she has forgotten the constellations, but she will never forget that night. From his expression, she says she is sorry if she said something she shouldn’t have, but it’s okay to remember the good times. He remarks it’s much easier as she is having good times with someone else now. His cell phone rings and he says he has to take this. She replies, “Nick Marone. So much he has to take.” Storm tells him he was bad. They hate him, but he’s got a meeting set up tomorrow with Harvey Golden himself.

Pam tells Eric that she made his martini. He thanks her and then she tears up in trying to thank him for all he is doing. He apologizes if she thinks he has overstepped. She can live with Ann or anyplace she wants. She doesn’t want him to say he is sorry…..she admits no one has ever done anything like this for her in her entire life. That she had often laid awake and thought she was happy, just cooking and cleaning and following quietly to her mother’s grave….or maybe even beat her there. Now all those things she thought she could never have, everything seems possible. He’s just sorry that it took so long, but she says it’s perfect, she’s glad it didn’t happen any other way. He admits it’s selfish on his part. She says that is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to her. She tears up when she tells him that she promises that he and Stephanie are not going to regret doing this. Eric goes to comfort her as Stephanie looks down from the balcony.

Rick tells Phoebe that she needs to stop thinking about what he is thinking? He offers his arms and walks toward her and holds her. He confesses that he thinks of her to a certain point and then no further. He thinks she is funny, both when she wants to be and when she doesn’t. He thinks she is beautiful. But….that gets them to a point a little too fast. She also has an inferiority complex. She thinks people are smarter than her, more sophisticated, more accomplished. And the fact of the matter is they are all faking it and she doesn’t have to. She asks if he is and he says a little. She asks saying things he doesn’t mean? He replies meaning things he’s not saying. They giggle over some things they have done in the past and Brooke has a slight look of concern as she observes from the balcony above.
