Brooke walks into Ridge’s office and says she just heard about Taylor on the radio. It’s a mistake, isn’t it? He replies no, she’s at the prelim hearing right now. He had called Storm and he came down immediately. And that Taylor seems determined to plead guilty as she feels that is the only way to give Thorne closure. He agrees with Brooke that she really loves him and they share something very special. In the midst of their own personal hells, they should be out celebrating their engagement. Instead, Taylor is in court and Thorne is having his heart ripped into shreds. “And there doesn’t seem to be a damn thing any of us can do to change any of it.”

Shane is reading the newspaper and muttering to himself when Hector asks what he’s talking about? He calls him Blind Man and remarks the paper says it’s nothing official but inside sources say the good doc has made a full confession in the death of Darla Forrester. And apparently the cops are now in question of Phoebe’s account….which means they don’t know if they will charge her or anyone else with a possible cover-up. “That would be you, Smokey.” Hector tells him he’s not thinking of himself right now, just Taylor. Shane remarks so is he…..and her daughter too.

In court, Taylor pleads guilty. Judge Owens says let the records show…….and declres sentencing will be in three weeks and all the parties will be notified when a day and time have been determined. D.A. Tartaro confirms that Taylor will be held in custody pending sentencing. Storm explains to Stephanie that Taylor violated her terms of probation for her DUI, thus no bail. Stephanie makes an offer but the Judge denies bail. With nothing further from Logan or Tartaro, Taylor stands and says she has something to say to the court though Storm advises her not to say it now. She starts that she took the life of a woman. She was a wife and a mother. She twirls around and looks directly at Thorne as if speaking to him. He returns a blank, blasé look. She says that Darla was a wonderful, amazing human being. “And she’s gone now because of me.” And she wanted to spare Thorne and his little girl any more heartache than they have already been through. And she says she does not want to drag this out. She knows there is a mandatory sentence and she is asking his honor to impose it right now….so they don’t have to go through this anymore. The prosecution is agreeable. Storm needs to talk to his client. He asks Taylor what is she doing? She declares that she wants to do this. She has to get this over with for Thorne and Alexandria. They can’t heal until she does. So she’s not asking for herself, but for them. They have suffered enough. The Judge says very well, he will clear some time this afternoon and they’ll reconvene after lunch.

Brooke asks Ridge if he reached Steffy? He says yes although he hated to have to tell her all of this over the phone. She knows he had no choice since the media is all over this. He says she wanted to come home but he told her to sit tight until they knew more. When Stephanie calls and tells him that Taylor did plead guilty and sentencing will be that afternoon, he tells her he will be right there.

Storm tells Taylor that pleading guilty was bad enough, but now immediate sentencing? Couldn’t she give him a chance to help? Emphatically she tells him no when he brings up Phoebe’s name since she was a witness. She’s put her through enough. No more! And besides they wouldn’t believe her anyway. They’d just think she was trying to protect her mother. He says fine, then they will try to find someone else who did see the accident. By the look on her face, he asks if there is anything she hasn’t told him? She says no, it doesn’t matter. “Even if someone did see it, I’m not blaming Darla. I’m not going to say she fell into my car like some kind of an idiot…forget it!”

Stephanie approaches Thorne and asks if he knows what just happened here? Stoically he says he realizes the woman who took his wife from him is going to prison. She tells him no, she’s avoiding going to trial. Because she doesn’t want him and Alexandria to hurt any more. They are going to take her away from HER children. Doesn’t that show him how much she loves him? He tells his mother to stop defending Taylor. His wife is dead because of her. She ran over Darla and then lied to his face for months. She deserves ten years for what she did to his family. “And nothing you can do or nothing Taylor can say is ever going to make me see it any other way.”

Hector expounds that he knew this would happen. The closer she got to Thorne, the harder it would be not to tell him the truth. And this isn’t just to spare Thorne, but to also spare Phoebe, Stephanie and himself. Without a trial, their part won’t come out. Shane scoffs that is exactly right. It’s a cover-up and it’s got his name all over it. Hector says he was just trying to protect Taylor. Shane accuses him of being guilt ridden because he gave such lousy advice….and Hector thought he was bad for this family! Hector says he still isn’t convinced that he’s not, that he came there to blackmail Taylor. Regardless, he has nothing to hang over her head now so he might as well run for the hills. Shane laughs – like he should be taking advice from Hector. Smugly he says he thinks people are going to want him around there real soon…a lot sooner than Hector thinks!

Storm argues with Taylor that her love for Thorne is clouding her judgment. What happened was an accident if she’d only let him mount a defense. Again adamant, she vows no, ten years is nothing compared to the pain she has caused Thorne and Alexandria. “I’m not causing one more second of heartache. I will not do it.”

Stephanie pleads with Thorne that she’s not trying to defend this. It’s a terrible, terrible tragedy and it was a mistake for Taylor to lie. Likewise a mistake for the three of them to encourage her to lie. But, that is NO reason for her to go to jail for ten years for something that was an accident. Okay, he retorts, Darla was too close to the road, but falling into an oncoming car is pretty damn convenient. And if it was an accident, why didn’t they say so that night? They were scared…..because Taylor was drinking and driving with a suspended license when she hit Darla. There were no witnesses to claim otherwise except Phoebe who has been lying to the police and to him for months to protect Taylor. Stephanie asks but what if there WERE a witness? He says for the love of…….there isn’t. There is no one. She repeats but if there is…..will be listen? Will he open up his mind and really listen to the truth?

Smirking, Shane says yeah, he is the answer. Hector tells him to relax; Phoebe isn’t going to look for comfort in him. She has a father for that and a mother. Shane snickers, “whoa, whoa, whoa. Hello?….hello? Hector, did you lose your hearing too? Did you hear what I just said? if she pleads guilty, she’s going straight to the pokey.” Unless, of course, some miraculous miracle comes along…let’s say some new evidence comes to light. Does Hector think he should show up in court and maybe testify? Hector agrees, Shane said he was there and saw what happened so he could tell the court. Shane smirks and says yeah he could do that or then again he could just pack his bags and head for the hills and never look back. He leaves before Hector can question him more. Stephanie calls and asks Hector if Shane is there? Not to let him leave as she is coming over. He’s the only witness. Shane is listening in on the extension.

Brooke advises Ridge not to ride this guilt to himself. He says it’s Taylor he has done it to. She was devastated, alone and in pain when he ended their marriage and this is when she started self-meditating. He says he didn’t have a clue for months because he was so busy trying to get Brooke back…….still is. Brooke asks if he wishes he were still with her? He replies no, he loves Logan. He loves “us”. He wants their ‘happily ever after’. He cups her face and says he believes she wants that too. She says she knows he still feels that responsibility because that is the kind and loving and compassionate man that she met and fell in love with so many years ago. He tells her he is glad she is there and she replies she will be there for him……always. He kisses her and they hug tenderly.

When Shane hears Stephanie at the door, he announces to himself, “showtime.” Seemingly he is walking out when she walks in. She implores him to come with her right now. He hesitates and says he doesn’t think he can do that; he must catch a bus. She asks to where? He tells her San Fran as he has a good friend up there who offered him a job and he thought that would be a good idea since she thinks he is sponging off of them. Stephanie offers that she does think that is what he is doing, but that is besides the point. She needs him to come now and tell the Judge exactly what happened that night. They are going to sentence Taylor and he’s the only witness. He has to come down and tell the Judge what he saw – that Darla fell in front of the car and Taylor couldn’t swerve in time to avoid her. Shane answers, “or maybe not. Or maybe I’ll just keep my big mouth shut. Isn’t that what you said?”

Thorne shows up in Taylor’s cell and tells her she did the right thing by not dragging his wife’s name through the mud with this preposterous story of hers about Darla falling into her car. Taylor answers that she knows Darla died doing something her family could be proud of. That’s how she wants him to remember her. She was a remarkable woman. And what she wants Thorne to remember about her --- she is sure he doesn’t think she has any integrity of character, but she does want him to know that she did fall in love with him. Those feelings were genuine and real. She didn’t expect to fall in love, but guess he showed her his heart…..he was going through the worst time of his life and he reached out and helped her. Nobody has ever done that before for her. Seems like everybody else has ditched her. He showed her what real love is. She’s never been able to accept that kind of love before. She’s always been looking for some fairytale. “I will cherish you because you taught me that. I’ll always cherish you, Thorne.”
