Ridge makes Brooke sit and tell him what is wrong. She only laments that she can’t live with Nick now after what he has done. Donna interjects that her husband loves her so much and she loves Nick. What could he have done that is so bad that she can’t get past?

On The Marlin, Nick is frustrated when all he can reach is Brooke’s voice-mail. He leaves a message – there’s been a big mistake. Bridget’s baby is not his; he’s not the father! They have to talk about this. He’s coming straight to the house, don’t leave! Bridget stops him. She knows Brooke’s habits and she knows Brooke will not want to talk to him and the house is the first place he’d look. And she drops the bombshell, she thinks Ridge is expected back tonight.

Ridge comforts Brooke while she cries that she doesn’t know how she could have been so wrong. Donna takes the phone call from Nick who asks her to put Brooke on. Brooke tells her to forget it, she does not want to talk to him. Nick is insistent – put her on! Ridge grabs the phone and states that he doesn’t know what the hell Nick did, but Brooke is a wreck. Leave her to hell alone! He tells Bridget that she was right. Forrester is back and he has to get over there before he causes more damage. He rejects Bridget’s offer to go along.

Donna lays into Brooke that her husband sounded very concerned and all he wants to do is talk to her. Brooke opines that she is FINISHED with him. He is just a man of all words. He makes promises but doesn’t deliver. Then she chastises Ridge. Don’t ask her to leave; she has a stake in this. She was OVER Ridge and into Nick and finally Ridge was starting to break free of her. Why is she coming here crying on Ridge’s shoulder? You have a problem, you talk it out with your husband, that is what marriage means. She points out to Ridge there is Brooke’s finger and her wedding ring. Why is he letting her come here and drag him back into her melodrama? He laments that no one is dragging him. He knows exactly what he is doing. She begs him not to do this. She’ll probably be running back to Nick tomorrow (for a girl who said earlier in the day that she WAS a big girl, not to worry about breaking her heart, she sure isn’t taking this first hurdle very well). She tells Brooke that she is being spoiled and selfish. Ridge begs her to please, please, let him talk to Brooke alone. With a soured, hurt look on her face, she leaves. Brooke knows she is a mess. She gave her heart to Nick. She just didn’t know he would betray her. Ridge tells her they are alone now; he really wants to know what Nick did to her?

Donna seeks solace by the pool, sinking into a lounge chair. Stephanie has been prying out the window, driving Eric crazy to what might be happening. She comes out and says, “temper, temper, temper. What’d they do? Give you the boot?” She keeps silent so Stephanie continues that Ridge is only home five minutes and Brooke is now here? Donna wishes to be left alone. Stephanie offers, “honey, read the hand-writing on the wall very carefully. It says ‘Ridge is just killing time with you until your sister comes to her senses.’” Donna replies that is not true. And besides she is married to Nick and he has no intention of giving her up. Stephanie laments that it doesn’t matter what Nick’s intentions are. Ridge is here and Brooke is here five minutes later. That is EVERYTHING she needs to know. She wants to see the people she loves be happy.

Tearfully, Bridget clings to Eric’s arms. She has made such a mess of her life. He can’t figure out what she could have done so horribly to feel this way. He’s dismayed to learn that she is pregnant.

Ridge follows Brooke to the living room and asks again what did Nick do to her? She starts that she was afraid she would love Ridge too much and how hurt she would be if she lost him again. She couldn’t handle that. He opines that she went looking for security, and there is a price to pay for that. She agrees that with Nick, she thought she had found that safe place. But, he’s not perfect, in fact, he’s FAR from perfect. Ridge answers that he’s not perfect either. She realizes that, and you know what that means? You can’t live your life looking for security because it is only an illusion. “You have to look for the passion, for the thrill.” He’d asked her to come back to him, but she hadn’t. She was living that illusion, but not anymore. “Nick is definitely not that safe place for me. He’s not security. Nick doesn’t exist in my life anymore.”

Suddenly Nick bursts in and she tells him not to talk to her, just go away. He tries to explain that he made a mistake, and he’s very sorry for that. Ridge tells him that Brooke doesn’t want him there, just leave. Nick says there are circumstances she needs to hear that changes things. She quips oh, he just had a dream that he slept with Bridget? Funny, she had the same dream! Ridge starts toward him to throw him out. Nick quickly says the pregnancy has nothing to do with him. It’s not his child.

Donna tells Stephanie it doesn’t matter whether she likes her or not. Stephanie says it does; they are a very close-knit family. Donna asks is that her term for a family with a domineering mother who won’t let her children grow up and make their own decisions? Stephanie fires back about Donna’s experience in motherhood? What is really important to Donna? Is it how she looks? Because what is going on here is a lot deeper than that? Donna informs her that she is going in there and will tell Ridge he is making a big mistake. Stephanie devastates Donna when she stops her and urges her not to do that. Just stop wasting everyone’s time, especially her own. She tells her she is never going to have Ridge, ever!

Eric is livid – Bridget pregnant? He wonders how a girl that is so smart, so smart to graduate from medical school in record time – be such a slow learner? Her only defense is this is not a baby from a stranger in a bar. So he asks the questions – whose is it? He’s shocked to hear that at first she thought it was Nick’s. She offers it was one of those times that Brooke ran back to Ridge again and Nick thought the marriage was over. She says she just happened to be there, and she’d never stopped loving Nick. He was in so much pain and she just wanted to comfort him…..take the pain away. One thing led to another, and they wanted to keep this between them, but then she found out she was pregnant. He asks if Brooke knows? Bridget recites she does now. Nick told her everything; he confessed. She keeps stalling as Eric asks her who in the hell is the father of this baby?

Ridge tries to throw Nick out one more time, accusing him of getting Bridget pregnant and now trying to come back and cover his tracks. Nick insists on talking to Brooke alone. Brooke is semi-surprised that Nick isn’t the father. Nick points to Ridge that none of this would have happened if he had left Brooke alone. Ridge is incredulous that he would try to blame all of this on him. Nick thinks he should take some blame as he wouldn’t leave her alone, he kept butting in. Brooke tells them to stop fighting and for Nick just to tell her the truth. Nick tells her the doctors just confirmed it. The timing is wrong, it’s not his child. They no longer have to deal with that. Ridge wants to know if he thinks people can just forget being betrayed. Nick berates him and asks how does he get off saying this? Ridge says he never cheated on Brooke the entire time they were married. Nick shouts at him, “oh, please. You climbed into her bed when we were engaged. A marriage is between two people. But, you never let her go, did you Forrester? You just never let her out of your mind.” Smugly, Ridge replies that he has news for him. She hasn’t let go of him either. Nick fires back that they are going to work this out. The two of them, and Forrester isn’t involved anymore. So BUTT out!

Donna finds it interesting that Stephanie still wants Brooke and Ridge together; she always hated her before. Stephanie said well she did, that is true. But, then she’d had a realization. Brooke makes him happy, and as domineering as Donna might think she is, she does respect his feelings and she wants him to be happy. Donna surmises – and she doesn’t think being married to Nick is an obstacle? Stephanie says not an insurmountable one. And she advises Donna that the best thing she can do is leave for her own sake. Donna digs in tight and says she is not going to leave until Ridge tells her to. Stephanie faces her, looks her in the eyes and tells her softly to hang on to her dignity and self respect. Does she really want to hear him say that? It will be so hurtful. Don’t put herself through that. She knows what is going on in there.

Again, Eric is aghast when Bridget tells him the father is Dante. At one time she thought she was pregnant with Dante, then the tests said she wasn’t, but it turns out after all that she was. And she knows how much he must be disappointed in her. He says he is trying hard not to. And asks has she told Dante? Bridget says no, she just found out. He asks about Felicia? Bridget acts like this is the first she has thought of her. “Oh, my God, oh, Felicia…..she’s gonna want to kill me.” Eric quips that yeah she probably will, but he’ll do his best to see that doesn’t happen. But, they just need to focus on Bridget right now. And he asks is there anything he can do? She wishes there were. She laments that she’d wanted a baby for so long, but not like this. She begins to dissolve in tears and says she feels like she has ruined everything. Eric sits beside her and takes her in his arms and cradles her on his shoulder.

Ridge bellows to Nick so he might not be the father of Bridget’s child; that’s a mere technicality. Nick asks Brooke for her forgiveness. Ridge snaps that he doesn’t deserve it. Nick states that he has made a mistake and one he will regret the rest of his life. But, he can not have her running to this man time and time again. It’s too much for him, it pushed him to the edge. Brooke tells him there is NO excuse for what he did. He let her down like everybody else. And she thought he was different. Nick says he’s sorry, but the life they want, the future they dreamed of, it’s still right there. It’s still there ahead of them. She’s just got to find it in her heart to forgive him. Ridge quips yeah, until next time. Nick demands that he stay out of this. But Ridge speaks to Brooke and calls her Logan, that there is a future here for the two of them too. She came to him tonight because she believed they were meant to be together. Nick rants how many times has he let her down before?

Ridge agrees, he has let her down, but never like this. All this man has ever been able to offer her is a little safety, a little security. Well, he has failed at both. He states that she knows what he offers her, and she knows it’s what she wants. “So end this marriage now.” They can have the life they have always wanted. “It’s right here, right in front of you. And all you have to do is reach out and take it.” She looks at Ridge’s face, then turns to look at Nick, then back to Ridge.
