At Insomnia, Nick tells Bridget that he’s always taken her mother at face value. She is who is she says she is and she wants what she says she wants. Has he made a mistake here? Clearly Bridget is in a bind and is hard pressed to even be discussing her mother’s love life, much less with her former husband. Pointblank he wants to know if Forrester will always be in Brooke’s life? Bridget says if she gives him an honest answer, will it even matter?

Dante stands back but directs a naked Felicia how to drape the sheet across certain body parts while he sculpts her. She giggles as she brings her leg bended a certain way and she mentions she’s going to look like a painting or sculpture of Napoleon and his sister, Pauline they saw at The Canova. They laugh when compared to Ridge, except that he is taller. She comments that Pauline had such nice hair. Please don’t let her look like a boy. He says it will never happen. She asks about her scar? He tells her it’s up to her. Boldly, she says, “love me, love my scar.”

In Taylor’s office, Stephanie continues to apologize in that she thought Taylor was way ahead of her in accepting the reality that Brooke and Ridge belonged together. Sarcastically, Taylor bemoans that Stephanie told a national audience that she was a big mistake. There’s a big difference in accepting Ridge’s decisions rather than shoving them down people’s throats. She’s visibly upset when she points out to Stephanie that she anointed her Queen; she gave her half of the company! Stephanie is sincere and says she is sorry; she hasn’t handled this well at all. She pulls out the papers with certificate and tells Taylor that she is redistributing the stock. She states it is for everyone in the family and of course, Taylor is family.

Stephen is listening at the door as Taylor leafs through the pages. When she is done, Taylor says, “2%.....that is very generous of you…….IF I were your gardener and not the mother of your grandchildren.”

Nick opines to Bridget that he had hoped they could talk about anything (Mr. Sensitivity here). If she wants to talk about Dante, that’s okay with him. She hesitates, then says okay, he proposed. He wants to see the ring. She shrugs it off that there is no ring. And continues that he and her mother are very different. He is very binary and Brooke isn’t. He asks, “binary?” She says yeah, when he makes up his mind on something, he rarely changes his mind. He’s rarely insecure. But with Brooke, something looks bad today and it might not look so bad tomorrow. And with people she loves, and that includes Ridge, she will always find something about him redeemable. Even people she doesn’t love right now, like Stephanie. He disagrees, and draws the line there. She laments that her mother will always think the next time will be different. And she’s not criticizing her mother or saying her mother is wrong, but it’s just not Nick’s way. And she bores a hole in his eyes as she says that he has an on and off, like a switch. And when he makes up his mind, he rarely gives anyone a second chance. “My mother may not be like Stephanie, but you most certainly are.” He realizes his mistake and says perhaps he overstepped his bounds. She tells him she is not going to sit there and advise him how to WOO her mother away from Ridge. She points out that they aren’t even divorced yet. He apologizes and says he realizes it is too soon to have this conversation. She says she really hopes that he and her mom will be very, very, happy and she has done everything she can do to make that happen; the rest is up to him. She gets up to go. He says he will get the check. She overrides that and says she has it…..and she just remembered she has someplace else to be. He looks like an old, wet, limp dishrag as she leaves.

Felicia poses as Dante sculpts and she asks him if he ever thinks about when he’s gone? He answers no and she says she does, all the time. The sun will keep rising and setting, and people will keep ordering Chinese food and not wearing their SPF 30 like they should. The only thing missing would be her. They philosophize about her situation and he reminds her to raise her ribs and breast a little and she remarks that she feels more comfortable being naked than any reasonable person should. And it’s not exhibitionism like when she met him, but reassurance. Like “I’m still here…..the essential me. I’m not just some stitched together outfit…..or person.” She didn’t think she ever took life for granted, but it’s like she can’t get used to not being dead. He comments that actually she seems nervous. She thinks perhaps it’s because she doesn’t know where it is going with them. He remarks that knowing how everything will turn out usually gets you in trouble. She agrees. He tells her to let herself flow…..and drop her left breast. She gives a big smile.

Taylor hands the papers back to Stephanie and tells her thanks, but no thanks. Stephanie offers that she seems to be offended; why? Taylor responds that she has the annoying feeling that she is supposed to be jumping up and down with joy. “You know, you and your son wipe your feet all over me, and then you try to buy me off at some bargain basement price, no less.” She doesn’t know why that surprises her since she just did it to Brooke, and then to her father. Stephen stands against the door smiling. Stephanie says she gets the feeling she is in a no-win situation here. Would Taylor have been happier if she’d given her NO stock? Taylor slams that she doesn’t get to win when she hangs a friend out to dry. She laments she really thought they had a mother-daughter relationship. But, that wasn’t what it was about at all. It was all about Stephanie keeping her married to Ridge. And then you take Ridge away and what do you have - 2%? Taylor tells her to take it and get out. Stephanie looks like she has lost her best friend. She answers that she can’t help but think their love is strong enough that they can survive even this. Taylor won’t even look at her, so Stephanie leaves without the papers. Stephen is not there when she goes out the door. But, as Taylor sits back and gives one last look at the papers, there is a knock at the door and angrily she gets up and goes and opens it and shouts that she told her to take it. Only, it’s not Stephanie, it’s Stephen. Sheepishly, he asks if he has come at a bad time?

Dante asks Felicia if she needs a break? She says coffee would be great. He tells her there is a coffeemaker in the back, she can get started. He puts some markers around her so she can find her spot when she returns. She purposely lets him get a good, long, look before she fully drapes the sheet around her. He leans in for a kiss. Then he tells her ten minutes, he doesn’t want to be here all night.

Almost immediately, Bridget comes in and laments why doesn’t he just hate her? He grins that he wouldn’t know how. She opines that she just realized what she has been doing to him the past year. Having to listen to her endlessly about Nick while he cooked for her and took care of her and let her cry on his shoulder. She confides that Nick wanted to talk to her about all his problems with her mother. She didn’t think he meant to be thoughtless. She says she didn’t mean to be either, but she was. At this point, Felicia is lurking behind the doorway. Bridget continues that she’s been selfish and she knows he has forgiven her, but she hasn’t forgiven herself. What an incredible miracle he has been in her life.

Felicia hears every word of this.

Stephen walks on in to Taylor’s office and says he imagines she has heard about Stephanie’s offer to his daughter. Taylor responds yes. Then he says, she probably knows his feelings about it. They both sink down into chairs to let their hair down. She says she knows there is no love lost between him and Stephanie. He comments that he was glad to know that Brooke was finally out of that family of vipers……but, he also knows how important her work at Forrester Creations was for her. But now she is surrounded by people who all want something from her. All except himself, of course. And he thought he could help her if he just knew how to advise her. But, he says he doesn’t trust himself to only think of her best interests. Taylor questions if it is the way they treated him that runs so deep? And he adds the way they treated Brooke too. “The stock, the money. Is that supposed to make it all right now? Money is the great solver of all problems? She says she is afraid he has come to the wrong place at the wrong time. There is enough resentment to go around for a long time. And she plops the papers into his chest. He takes a look and calmly says, “you too?”

Bridget puts her hands on Dante’s face and then around his neck and comments that after leaving Nick just now, she suddenly had the feeling of how Dante must have felt every single time she said Nick’s name. She goes and sinks onto the couch and laments she had this sudden cold fear of what might happen if he weren’t there for her. He says he is not going anywhere. She tells him she could have never, ever, ever made it this past year without him. He’s glad he could be there as a friend. She starts to confess that he had been so much more than a friend to her……..when Felicia comes out of hiding, still holding the sheet around her but enough exposed that Bridget certainly gets the picture. Felicia remarks that artists are always out of coffee…..sees Bridget and remarks that oh, they have an audience. Bridget has one of those, “oops” expressions on her face.

Stephen comments to Taylor that Stephanie couldn’t see that her measly 2% was a slap in the face? Taylor says the less said about it, the better. He tells her that’s no, it’s not better. That’s the way they operate. That’s what they count on. They expect them to be so damn polite that they won’t scream bloody murder when they take their truckload of money and run right over everyone. Taylor says she doesn’t know what she is supposed to do. It’s Stephanie’s company. She can legally do whatever she wants with it. He corrects her – it WAS her company. But, he tells her he has learned a little something about business and a LOT about how the mind of the beast works. He says he came there for her help as he didn’t think there was anyone else he could count on, and here she is in the same boat. He asks her what would she say if he told her there might be a way for them to get their dignity back, if they count on each other?

Stephanie walks into her office to find Nick casually waiting for her on the couch. She stops dead in her tracks, and remarks it’s kind of late. He quips that Congress never sleeps. She asks if this is a professional call? He jovially states that she gave Brooke half the company; he’d like the buy the other half. Stephanie replies, “really?” He tells her he doesn’t want Brooke working there, but she seems to like the place. She tells him that is quite a gesture. He says it’s an opportunity for Stephanie too. ….spend some time with the family, get to know her grandkids. She agrees, that would be a good idea, and she appreciates his concern about that, but …….the company is not for sale. He shoots back that it is not a tool for her to use either…….to put Brooke back together with her boy. She remarks they do have a long history together. He states he has heard that.

She says well having HEARD it, he should know he’s fighting a losing battle. He approaches her and says that Brooke knows what she wants, and it’s NOT her son. She studies him and says he’s a lot like his father….stubborn and determined and always trying to ATTAIN the unattainable. “Let me give you some advice …..good advice ….’run as fast as you can away from here.’” He says that will NEVER happen. She repeats, NEVER? She chuckles to never say never. Believe me, she knows. “I am never going to accept Brooke; I am never going to let her into the family. I am never going to accept her into the business. I am never going to accept that Ridge really loves her.” And she advises him to not make the same mistake that she had. There’s something between them that can not be denied. She remarks she knows Nick loves Brooke, she can see that. But, he’s caught up in something that is beyond his control. Her advice is to let her go; let her have that happiness. It’ll be the best thing Nick can do for her. And, more importantly, Nick for himself.

Nick offers that Stephanie thinks the best thing is for her to be with her son. And she’d even try to bribe her to make that happen. But, that won’t work. He warns her that giving Brooke 50% of the company will be the biggest mistake she’s ever made. And he thinks that deep down she knows that. “She loves ME. Get that through your head. Otherwise, we’re going to have real problems. And I know you don’t want that.” Stephanie tells him she really doesn’t want to fight with him. But, if that’s the way it has to be, then that’s the way it has to be. “It won’t be pretty.”
