Somewhere in a hospital/clinic, Felicia lays comatose with Stephanie leaning over her. She softly whispers that she knows she can hear her. Deep in her subconscious she hears and she understands. She calls her name and tells her she’s safe; she’s safe with her. She’s there with her and she’s safe.

On The Shady Marlin, Nick disengages himself from Taylor and awkwardly tells her he’s glad he could help her through her pain. She tells him she is not telling him this to cause him trouble. She’s done enough of that already, and she’s not coming on to him either. He asks then what is she doing? She laughs and says she doesn’t know. Maybe just a way to say thank you for giving her support during a very chaotic moment in her life. He gives her one of those aw shucks type of "you’re welcome." She tells him she knows that isn’t what he was trying to accomplish. He offers that they both went to the bar to dull their senses, and if he helped her accomplish that, then good. She says yes, but then she was the one who caused something worse for him. He replies that is HIS problem. Taylor suggests that maybe he should call Brooke.

He replies maybe, but he wants them to sort something out first. He starts with first of all, she was married to Ridge and had a family with him. And she knew that the two of them didn’t get along. But because they don’t see eye to eye has nothing to do with what happened last night. Taylor replies that she appreciates that when Nick says he doesn’t play games. He tells her she seemed to be surrounded by that for a long time; mostly from her mother-in-law. She admits that she can’t deny it. Life with Ridge can be a little complicated. He tells her but here’s the twist. He thinks she would go right back to that if she could. She admits maybe that was the connection last night. He wasn’t the only one looking for escape from his pain. And last night perhaps she found her escape in him.

In packing up some of Nick’s stuff at the beach house, Bridget sobs as she remembers their last parting good-bye. She dabs her eyes with a paper towel as Dante comes in with Dominick. He notices and asks if she is okay? Then says he hates to interrupt but he thought this little guy could spend some time with her. Now that Felicia is gone, he’s going to need her more than ever. She smiles as he hands him to her.

As the ventilator makes it’s continuous sound, Stephanie softly speaks to Felicia that she’s a fighter, just like herself. There’s a tiny but very real chance that she can live. It’ll require chemo, radiation and a liver transplant….and it will be hard on her. She doesn’t know if this is what she wants. If this is what she meant when she said “help me.” But, it’s the only thing she knew to do. So she has to fight NOW. She has to fight for her baby. He needs his mother. And she will have to use all her strength to come back to him.

She continues that she has not told Felicia’s father that she is alive. Him, or her brothers and sisters either. She doesn’t know which is the cruelest thing. If she tells them, they will try and stop her. They’ll make her let Felicia go. It’s as simple as that. “We have to fight this battle all on our own.” She vows it won’t be easy, but she will be with her every step of the way. With her voice cracking, she says, “and if we win, I get to bring my baby girl home. I’ll bring you home to your baby.” She covers her mouth; it’s more than she can bear.

Taylor tells Nick that she thinks he would have been better off with a session with his therapist than a drinking binge with one. He quips that maybe a night drinking with your shrink is almost like therapy. She thanks him for trying to make her feel less guilty, but she knows what her responsibilities are. He replies for her to come on, they both know they didn’t really do anything wrong. She says she did try to tell that to Brooke. He’s surprised that she’s talked to Brooke? She comments that she just came from there. She wanted to set the record straight. She wanted Brooke to hear her side of the story of what really happened. She didn’t want Brooke to go running to Ridge and telling him things she thought she saw. Fortunately she is as concerned about her children as Taylor is with her own. Nick says it’s Bridget. Brooke doesn’t want Bridget to know. He chuckles and remarks what if they were in therapy? And he told her that his wife ended their marriage because she wanted him to be with her mother. And then he went out and got loaded and ended up with someone else. Is there a pill for that? Taylor sighs, and gets up and tells Nick that Bridget isn’t going to find out. He hopes not; she’s been through enough. She touches Nick and says whether it be Brooke or someone else, she really, really hopes it works out for him.

Puffing on his cigar, Nick goes topside. He confesses that he really didn’t like Taylor when he first met her. She follows and says she sensed that. He confesses there was too much talk of her being perfect, a saint. He thought that was a little weird. She admits that first of all, she was no saint. But, now she’s definitely not a saint in anyone’s eyes, that’s for sure. He gives her the nod that she’s not as bad as she thinks she is either. It definitely took a lot of guts to go over to Brooke’s. She could have handed her her head on a plate, but she went anyway. Taylor admits it wasn’t completely unselfish. Nick says he knows. She wanted her to know the truth. He thinks he might owe her for that. She grins and bangs her head with her hands and asks if he has a cure for a nasty hangover? Her head is killing her.

He laughs and says he wouldn’t be surprised. She never seemed to be the drinking type. He laments that booze can kill a lot of brain cells. “And believe me, I ought to know. I only have a few left.” She better take care of herself. “We don’t want anything bad to happen to you.”

Dominick is in his high-chair, but getting fussy as Dante shakes a rattler and tries to entertain him. Bridget thinks there is something they need to talk about, but he asks her to wait as he thinks Dominick is hungry. If she would hand him the bag he brought. He opens up a jar and starts feeding Dominick. He tells Bridget that with Felicia gone, Dominick is going to need a constant in his life. He will need to spend a lot of time with Bridget. Is that going to be a problem? She tells Dante that he knows how much she loves Dominick. And she wants the best for him, but she is scared……of losing Dominick. He vows that she won’t. But, she counters that he doesn’t know. He might meet someone and they could become a family. Or he might want to take Dominick to Italy. He is his father and he has that right and there is nothing she could do to stop him. He tells her that is not going to happen. She persists; how does he know that? He just does. She asks, can he predict the future now? He replies no, he just knows his heart. And there is no other woman in it. “And I don’t want to be anywhere you’re not. Ever.” So there is no risk in loving this child. She tells him he must think she’s being paranoid. He replies no, he knows she’s been through a lot of terrible losses this year. It makes sense that she would be cautious. She says but it doesn’t make sense to Dominick. He deserves to be loved unconditionally. Dante tells her that he will be. She can do this. He knows this just as much as he knows Dominick will hate his veggies. Splat……..a mouthful of veggies spit back at Dante and on him! Both Dante and Bridget laugh and she tells Dominick good shot.

At the clinic, Stephanie is resting her head in prayer fashion by the side of Felicia’s bed. A young Dr. Ramirez comes in and introduces himself as the doctor overlooking her daughter’s case. Stephanie states that she knows he’s just back from Europe. He replies yes, and he’s going to do his very best for Felicia. But, he has to be honest with Stephanie. The treatment she’s going to receive, there is no guarantee……in fact, far from it. A dozen things have to go right and nothing can go wrong for her even to have a 50-50 chance at recovery. Very concerned, Stephanie says it’s a long shot; she understands. They discuss her chemo which is supposed to start today. Stephanie says she’s going to stay as long as she can, then she has to go back to Los Angeles. Dr. Harwood had explained some things. She understands Felicia is in a drug-induced coma and she’ll be on life support during the chemo. Dr. Ramirez says if it eradicates the cancer, then they can proceed to the next phrase – the liver transplant, if they find a compatible liver in time. Stephanie maintains she is going to stay positive on that. He tells her that is her job. His job is to determine all the risks and plot the course with the greatest opportunity of success and do everything he can to restore her daughter’s health. He assures her if he is sounding pessimistic, he’s not trying to discourage her. He just needs her to know the reality of what they were up against. “Felicia is in the fight of her life.”

Taylor tells Nick that he’s not the first person that warned her about drinking too much. She reveals that when she first came back she was just trying to hold everything together. And when Ridge finally walked out on her, it just all came crashing down. She says she is sure there were quite a few moments when they could have worked things out, but she was too messed up to see it. Instead she ended up pushing him further and further away. He tells her if she keeps overanalyzing it like this, she is going to make herself crazy. She thinks that’s ironic – doing what she does for a living. He states that he’s no professional but he’s been on ships and hung out on docks his whole life, so he’s been around such stuff. She says she is stopping. He tells her if she needs a friend, she has one here. She replies, “yeah, after the way I’ve messed up your life you’re willing to help me?” He quips first of all she had not messed up his life. It was already messed up. And secondly, maybe they ought to get her to smile a little bit. She tries.

Bridget has nestled herself alone on the couch, being very quiet. Dante brings Dominick to sit with her. He tells her he knows she has been hurt by people she loves. But, this little guy isn’t going anywhere, and neither is he! He explains more. It doesn’t have to be a package deal. He hopes she grows to love him someday. But, that’s not going to affect her relationship with Dominick. He’s his son, but he’s also Bridget’s son too. That’s what Felicia wanted and Bridget had made a promise. She tells him she sure did. He says he’s going to help her keep that promise. He hands her Dominick and she takes him and holds him close to her. Dante gives her a peck on the cheek, flashes those dimples, and Dominick actually gives a giggle.

Stephanie states to Dr. Ramirez that she understands a liver transplant is not a cure. “Let me be very honest with you, Doctor. I’m just trying to buy by daughter time.” He tells her it could be a few months or as little as a few weeks…….if the procedure works at all. Stephanie conveys to Dr. Ramirez that her daughter has a baby boy. So it doesn’t matter if it’s a little or a lot of time….just so she has some time. He tells her he’ll do his best, but he can’t make any promises. She nods her head and tells him just to give Felicia a chance. Give her a chance; she’s a fighter. He reminds her that once chemo begins, Felicia will need all the support she can get. Although they do ask no more than two visitors at a time.

Stephanie says she understands. And he’s told her the worst that can happen. Can she ask something of him? Will he tell her daughter the very best that she can expect? He nods his okay. He clears his throat as he moves toward Felicia’s bedside and starts. “Felicia, hopefully the chemo will eradicate the cancer. Your body will accept the liver and it’ll only be a matter of time before you can return to your family." Stephanie thanks him.

Dante tells Bridget that Dominick is her son and she’ll be the only mother he’ll ever know. Dominick fusses a bit and she comforts him by saying he’ll be okay. We see a split screen with Bridget on the left, young, vibrant, alive and happy with Dominick and on the right Felicia lying, eyes closed, silent and close to death hooked up to a machine.
