At the beach house, Brooke brings tea to Bridget and sits and explains that Ridge wants her back. He know he was wrong leaving her for Taylor. Part of her feels validated and the other part overwhelmed, but not in a good way. She goes further that she was happy with their life, or thought she was, but now she’s not sure she wants that life back. Bridget states because she found something better? Brooke seems taken aback. Bridget says it’s okay. She wants them to be completely honest and talk about everything together. And she thinks the truth is that she found something wonderful with Nick, and now she doesn’t want to accept anything less.

At Marone Industries, Ridge is in the hallway on his cell phone setting something up for tonight. He goes into Nick’s closed door office and with hand still on doorknob bellows at him to tell his mother to stay away from his father. Nick says, “excuse me.”

Ridge explains that Sally told him his mother paid a visit to his dad at the office. Nick takes the cigar out of his mouth and asks so what if she did? Ridge offers that his mom and dad are married now. Nick chuckles and tells him he uses that word as if it actually meant something to him. Ridge walks toward him and tells him that his family is finally coming together and he wants to keep it that way so just give the message to his mom, okay? Nick tells him that hey, he’s no messenger service and don’t tell his mother what to do. Ridge barks back he wouldn’t have to if somebody in Nick’s family would keep their noses out of everybody else’s business.

Nick snuffs out his cigar, looks at Ridge and tells him to be a man and tell him what’s really going on here. Ridge tells him okay, if he needs it spelled out for him, he will. He wants his mom to BUTT out of his parents’ marriage and pointing finger he says he wants “you, to stay out of my relationship with Brooke.”

At Tridge Manor, now to be known as Taylor’s Place, Hector holds the annulment while a slightly giddy, less than subdued Taylor announces it’s official, she is FREE. Free from Ridge, from herself, from this perfect image she has been struggling to keep up to. It’s not true, never has been, and now everybody knows it. She throws her arms up in the air and says she is NOT perfect. She does not have to pretend anymore. She can finally have some FUN for a change, all right! Hector looks on almost in wonderment – this new lady in front of him.

She bounces back into the room with a bottle of champagne and two glasses and asks does he want to do the honors? It’s the oldest bottle in the house. He remarks that champagne is for celebrating, as in no we shouldn’t. She reminds him that is exactly what she is doing, celebrating her moving on. And she can’t think of a better way to celebrate than champagne, so for him to go ahead and pop the cork.

Reluctantly, he asks if she is sure this is what she wants to do? She looks at the bottle and says yes, she and Ridge were saving it for a special celebration and this is just what it is. The first day of the rest of her life. She pops the cork, spilling some and licks it off her finger. She pours them both a glass, bubbling over and offers it to Hector for a toast. He comments it’s a little early for a drink. (plus, he seems more like a beer guy). She scoffs that is the whole point. A few years ago she would have said exactly the same thing. But, what is the big deal with a glass of champagne? “Really, who’s judging me? My children aren’t here. They’re off with lives of their own. My husband isn’t coming home. So one glass, one glass to mark the transition.” She clinks her glass to his and asks him to remember the last time they partied. She pours more for herself; he doesn’t touch his. He tells her she is going through something he wants to talk about. She quickly picks up an object, not sure it’s a real hand-held tape recorder or a TV remote, but she’s using it like a tape recorder as she announces into it that no, no more talking, no more debating, no more analyzing. She is just going to unwind and have some FUN. She even stomps her foot and whirls around into dancing by herself.

Nick opens the door and stands by it. Ridge asks if she is going somewhere? He replies no, Ridge is! Ridge states not until they get something straight. Nick says he’d love to get something straight. But, it’s still not clear to him why Ridge is there, to talk about him or his mother? Ridge states it simply. He wants them both to stay away from his family. Nick closes the door and comes back to face him. “What family would that be? The one you just abandoned or the one you tore up months ago?, he asks. Ridge barks at him that his relationship with Brooke is NONE of Nick’s business. Nick spells it out that Ridge does NOT have a relationship with Brooke, all he has is a kid with her. To which, Ridge points out one that they are going to raise together. Nick delights in asking is that what she said…….or she shut him down, didn’t she? He closes his eyes and shakes his head and says, “God, Forrester, I just don’t know what makes you tick. You throw away a woman like Taylor for a woman who doesn’t want you.”

Ridge comes back that he knows what Brooke wants a lot better than Nick does. Nicks says that has changed. She is not going to put up with his screwy little games anymore, and if he thinks she is, that just shows him how very little that he respects her. Ridge retaliates by saying that Nick’s attitude just shows him how much in love with Brooke that Nick still is. Nick gets in one last crack that he’s in love with Bridget and they are going to have a family together.

Ridge’s cell phone rings and he gets it. Nick overhears as Ridge mentions birds, flowers, champagne, he wants it chilled and ready. Tonight is a very special night; he wants everything to be perfect. When done, Nick repeats it – “flowers, champagne, BIRDS? My, my little man, what are we up to? Ridge just grins in that condescending way.

Brooke tells Bridget that this isn’t about Nick. She’s not a threat to her marriage. She assures her that she is being totally supportive as a mother and grandmother. Bridget tells her she is not worried about that. But, she doesn’t want her to pretend she’s never been with a man who does stand up for her and is totally committed to her. They both know once she’s had that, there is no settling for anything less. And if Brooke is saying that Ridge can not ever do that completely for her…….. Brooke interjects that she is not saying that can never happen with Ridge. She wants him to be close to Hope and R.J. She wants him to have a relationship with his son, but he did walk out on them. He turned his back on his son…..a little baby….a baby he’s wanted for a long time…..and now he’s back. And he’s left Taylor and wants to be with them, but she can’t just give in to that. ….maybe someday, but not today.

Nick whistles, the divorce isn’t even finished already and he’s chasing other women. What a class act! Ridge advises that he and Taylor have signed annulment papers. But, Nick points out the ink isn’t even dry and it sounds like he’s already planning a special night with Brooke. Ridge says his marriage to Taylor is over. Nick remarks that is pretty quick and wonders out loud if they have some special line down at the clerk’s office for Forrester annulments? Like a drive-through window or something? Ridge grouses not that it’s any of his business, but the annulment was Taylor’s idea. Nick says maybe she just got tired of looking at his ugly mug. Had he ever thought of that? Ridge offers he’d better be careful; his jealousy was showing. Nick fires that so is his desperation. The flowers, champagne, even the birds. What is that all about? He’d really like to know so he could sell TICKETS and he mocks the occasion.

Ridge asks him what is his idea of romance? He jokes – break out a six pack in the dinghy and sing her a song? Nick answers at least it’s real; Forrester is setting up a fashion show. Ridge nods to him and tells him he usually does pretty good at that. In fact, he usually gets a standing ovation at the end (hope this statement comes back to bite him). Ridge heads out, then stops at the door and turns back around and tells Nick that if he plans on coming by the house tomorrow, make it later in the door because he and Brooke are going to sleep in late. (oh, now I really hope he gets shot down).

Brooke tells Bridget she is NOT going to be Ridge’s doormat any more. Bridget advises she will have to be really strong because if he’s as determined as she says he is, she knows he will pull out all the stops. In the past, all he had to do was turn on the charm and she’d be under his spell. Brooke tells her but it’s different this time. No offense, Bridget tells her, but she’s heard that before. Brooke confesses that when Bridget was a little girl, she let her obsession with Ridge turn their lives upside down. And she regrets that and won’t let it happen to Hope and R.J. She states that she has accepted Ridge’s apology, but until she is convinced that he won’t bring that same chaos into her life again, she is better off alone.

Taylor continues her celebrating. She pours more champagne and is loud when she hoists the bottle and glass in the air for another toast to “the demise of TAYLURE Prudence, the Saint, to the new and improved Taylor Hayes.” She drinks more champagne; again Hector is having none. He remarks he saw nothing wrong with the old Taylor. She says she was boring; he says dependable. She pours more. She says stuffy; he corrects - rational. She pours more. As she takes another sip, she adds and let us not forget hypocritical. He reminds her that she never said she was perfect. She remarks that no, but that was the reputation she had to live up to; the new face of Forrester. He tells her but that is not who she really is. She replies he’s right; he’s exactly right. She is SO done with that! She’s done with Forrester; with all of that; with that image; with trying to be that image. With all the should’s, the could'nts, the would'nts

She’s positively giddy when she says she is FREE, free to be herself! She’s free to have FUN, to get crazy, to dance, yeah dance. She puts the bottle down, still holding the glass and bops around trying to get Hector to join her in a dance. They don’t have to care what people think. She grabs him by the hands and pulls him toward her, whirling around calling him HECKtor and wrapping herself in his arms until she twirls around and comes face to face with a family photo. Solemnly, she picks the frame up and Hector lays his two hands on her neck and tells her she’s hurting and it’s not all right. She laments it’s just not what she expected. She came home expecting to be with her husband and family, and now they are gone. He points out she does have her children. She smiles and tries to convince him that she’s okay, really. He tells her he really doesn’t want to leave right now. She voices that she appreciates that; his concern, but she is okay. She goes and opens the door and waits for him to leave. She thanks him for his concern and tells him he’s really a great guy. Reluctantly, he tells her if she needs anything……she replies just time. She’ll be herself again before he knows it. He cups her face and gives her a tender kiss on the cheek.

Brooke hears the birds chirping and the water bubbling and wanders through her back yard. She sees the birds; the lit Tiki torches. Around the pool strewn with floating flowers, Ridge steps out of the shadows in his Hawaiian shirt and says, “hello, Logan. Welcome to Paradise.” She’s positively bewildered and aghast.

Taylor is almost hyperventilating, staring at family photos, carrying her boots in her hand, she throws them down and pours another drink. She stands before the fireplace and sips her drink, a sad, lonely, beaten woman.

Bridget is knitting when Nick comes in and she sees his face and asks if he had a bad day at the office? He replies just a visit from the dressmaker. He just wanted Nick to know that he intends to sweep her mother off her feet. She wonders why he would come to Nick? He replies he guesses because of his history with her mother, but he just thinks she deserves better. Bridget tells him that so does Brooke; she was just here. He asks how was she? Bridget replies that she’s sorta frustrated because Ridge isn’t listening to her. He scoffs well if she is frustrated now, just wait until she gets home tonight. Bridget states that she knows her mother wants to be strong and independent and break that connection with him but in the past he’s had this hold on her and she’s never been able to resist him. So looking at history, she knows that Ridge knows how to get to her. Nick tells her he thinks Ridge has an evening planned in true dressmaker fashion!

Brooke remarks there are monkeys in her back yard (and I might add a big old ape, the two legged kind). He asks if this reminds her of anything? Like Puerta Vista? He thought she was having a little trouble seeing the potential of their relationship, so he thought he’d transport her back to a time when they were happy and excited about their future. She tells him how many times does she have to tell him that he can still have a future with Taylor? He tells her that his marriage is over; they signed the papers today. Annulment papers; like it never happened. But, she exclaims it DID happen. He points out that he’s not being insensitive here. This is what Taylor wants; she brought the papers. There is no reason to hold back anymore. Excitedly, he tells Brooke they can move on, get back to what they had. All those plans they made when they got married in that jungle.

Astonished, she asks if he thinks that a couple of tropical plants and some birds is going to renew the chemistry that they once had? After the way he treated her? He tells her he is trying to make up for that, but she has to let him in here. But, she bursts his bubble by saying she doesn’t have to do anything. He walked out on her and their son. He uprooted the children from their house. And now he thinks he can “come in and redecorate my backyard, murmur Logan a few times and I’m going to melt into your arms. My God, Ridge, this is NOT what I want, and if you think it is, I don’t want YOU either."

She walks away leaving Mr. Cool blown away.
