Same day continuation from Friday Episode:

At Forrester Creations, Eric’s office, ”The Family Feud” assembles. It’s Stephanie, Mass and Taylor on one side of the room and Brooke backed up by Eric, Ridge and Rick on the other. Brooke confronts Stephanie and tells her that she will stop her from taking over the company. She has spent half of her adult life here and she ‘earned’ her position and ‘earned’ her shares, and no court is going to deny that. Stephanie shoots back, “well, you’ve had both of my sons and my husband twice. That should be more than REWARD enough, don’t you think?” And she adds if Brooke wants to blame someone, blame that lying SOB of a husband of hers because he was the architect of her downfall (here, here), not Stephanie! Eric and the others just glare at Stephanie.

At Marone Industries, Nick is in his office commiserating with his mother, Jackie. He tells her he so much wanted Brooke to break down those barriers and see it his way, but then he realized there was so much more there that he needed to see. He remembers the night before and the conversation he had with Brooke where she demands that he take her, make love to her IF that’s the kind of person he is….and he can’t. He tells his mother that he and Brooke can never be. She says simply that NEVER is a long time. He reminds her they could be together right now, but they’d end up hating themselves for doing the one thing they promised Bridget they’d never do. He continues that coming so close made him realize how much he wanted this; to do the right thing. His family – that’s what he wants. And his family is Bridget and this child. Jackie stands and comes forward and tells him it’s beautiful; beautiful what he and Brooke did. The end of a magnificent love affair and the beginning of a new one with his wife and child as it should be. He takes Jackie by the hand and contemplates that he doesn’t know how he’s going to do this. How he’s going to let Bridget know how much he loves her and be there for her, forever. But, he does hope to God that she takes him back.

Eric states that he’s been slandered and vilified enough, so that’s it, it’s finished. He turns to go back to HIS desk. Thorne and Darla walk in at that moment. Eric picks up a document from the desk and flashes it through the air that this is a piece of paper, a loan agreement that her father made him pay in humiliation for a $100,000 loan he accepted to get this company off the ground. Ridge scoffs at a mere small amount of money. Stephanie says that forty years ago, that WAS a lot of money. Piously, Eric stands and points the paper at Stephanie and says her father treated him the same way she always did – condescending, insulting. Eric wasn’t good enough for his daughter. “My dreams weren’t MANLY enough.” He wasn’t to be trusted. Stephanie steps forward and says apparently her father was right or Eric wouldn’t have this document a secret all these years. He fires back that her father didn’t want her to know. At least he had the sense to be ASHAMED of what he was doing and that Stephanie wouldn’t have had anything to do with it. She would have torn it up in a thousand pieces. She agrees she would have a year ago; even six months ago. Eric states so he saw it for what it was – a very Douglas way of de-meaning him and showing him that his dreams weren’t worth anything! So, he decided to put the papers in that safe and let them rot forever, because he knew this company belonged to “you and me” (he gestures with fingers); this used to be “our company” which he tells her he thought was quite generous of him. “Generous?”, she asks. He goes on, “Forrester Creations owes its existence to ME. That element of grace and elegance you claim you want to recapture; where do you think that came from? From you; your Daddy?" He proclaims it came from him, his work, his vision; his late nights here in this office. She scoffs, his late nights – panting and pawing on Brooke and that has taken this company right down into the gutter along with this family.

Thorne finally speaks and asks what is this all about – documents and money? Brooke heads toward him and says that Stephanie likes to talk about virtue and decency, but what she really has is a technicality. She hands Thorne the paper. Eric states that this company is one of the most successful family enterprises in the world, and that success is due to the hard work and dedication to every person in that room with the exception of the two she brought with her (Mass and Taylor). And for her to arrogate it to herself, is peevish, it’s selfish and it’s wrong, anyway you look at it. Rick also points out – only $100,000. She tells him he’s too young to realize how much that was THEN.

They start loudly arguing that Eric could have gotten a loan elsewhere, but he says no he couldn’t. He shouts that he didn’t have time to go from bank to bank with hat in hand begging for a loan because “my wife was pregnant. She was carrying a baby, another man’s baby as it turns out; a baby that wasn’t even mine. Talk about a marriage of deception!” He continues, so he turned himself over to her; his dreams of everything he wanted to be; his dreams of everything he wanted to accomplish, all for a lie. He stands face to face and says he may have given it all over to her; he may have wasted his life outside the walls of this room, but he’ll be DAMNED if he’s going to let her take his life’s work too.

Jackie tells Nick that she’s very glad he told her because she’s been a little confused about what Brooke was doing. He confides that he knows she’s had her share of disappointments lately. They both know he’s talking about with Eric. She offers that she doesn’t think Brooke realized that she and Eric were more than just friends. Nick admits Eric sure did turn on a dime. She laments she still thinks they could have made each other happy. But, Eric thinks of Brooke as his safe place. And God knows why because she’s been anything but. She continues that they have a history together, a family. Nick pooh-poohs that, no one in that family buys that marriage. Jackie says it doesn’t matter if they believe it is right for them.

A packaged brown envelope is delivered. Nick opens it as Jackie starts to leave. He tells her to hang on a second; did she know FC has a new owner? She is shell-shocked. That is ridiculous; Eric would NEVER sell that company. He tells her it’s Stephanie’s – lock, stock and barrel.

Stephanie retorts that she is sorry that his life with her was such a sacrifice on his part. And, what was her Grand Prize? The tabloid reputation of ‘now you see me, now you don’t wife?’ Depending on or not if the slut wanted the title.(she walks to Brooke now). Rick objects to this talk and calls her on it. She apologizes. Eric states that he doesn’t live his life in fear of what some people in some grocery check-out line are going to say about him. He has a right to marry where his heart leads him. She scoffs – oh, his heart? He’s nothing but a big easy chair for her to put her feet up on. Eric squares at her that she can hire herself half a dozen divorce lawyers and come after him if she thinks she can, but leave this company alone. Mass dares speak – there is no reason she can’t do both.

Eric walks over to him and figuratively spits in his face that he’s really loving this, isn’t he? He then announces to all that Mass is hoping to get a piece of this company through Stephanie! Taylor speaks up that this is doing nothing more than opening up old wounds. Eric continues with his sarcasm – Taylor’s here too - the voice of reason and clarity! Isn’t she feeling the least bit out of place here? Taylor says no, she’s just saying they need to stick to addressing the legalities of the situation. Brooke has something to say. She tells Taylor what about right and wrong? - her favorite subject. Stephanie has no moral right to do what she’s doing. Stephanie differs, after a lifetime of being lied to and cheated on? She emphatically states she wants to restore dignity back to this company; that’s what she wants to do. They question her – without Brooke and Eric? Rick asks if she is going to start designing? She replies no, she is a businesswoman, but they are absolutely right. They need a creative head. And she can’t think of anyone who is more capable of being the next President of this company than her son. The word is barely rolled off her tongue than Ridge speaks up and says, “all right then, my next official action I ask respectfully the firing of Dad and Brooke……” Stephanie interrupts and tells them she wasn’t finished. She was speaking of Thorne. He’s stunned, of course, and everyone else glares at Stephanie.

Nick reads over the papers and Jackie says it just doesn’t sound like Eric keeping this to himself all these years. Nick knows now Stephanie won’t be going anywhere. His dad wanted him to know since it would be public knowledge soon and he had some part in it. Jackie brings up the fact that Brooke will be Stephanie’s target, that’s what Mass means. Nick tells her this is NOT his concern. His and Brooke’s life do not intersect anymore. That is the way it has to be. He says they were only connected in one way now. He opens a wooden box on his desk and takes the white gold wedding band from it and simply states that he is married to Brooke’s daughter.

Thorne asks his mother if this is the reason he’s here? She tells him yes, the band of malcontents seems to think this is still a family business and how could it be without him? Eric offers that no one is denying that Thorne is capable, but he is exclusively associated with Spectra now. Stephanie chuckles that she isn’t going to worry about those legal obstacles. The lawyers will take care of that. And Sally wouldn’t give them a hard time. Does Thorne want the job, or not? He looks to Darla and she beams that it’s whatever he thinks. Steph offers that she thought they always had the same philosophy about this company. Ridge smacks that it’s a set-up to fail. Stephanie didn’t know what she was doing. Thorne reminds him that he was just ready to say yes. Ridge spouts, “oh, so you want to be responsible for sinking Spectra and us?” Thorne turns to his mother and says of course he will be happy to accept. Stephanie gives him a kiss and a big hug, pat on the back. Darla adds, “what did I tell you?” Bitterly, Ridge asks if he’s expected to work FOR him? Steph replies no, WITH him. Eric is no longer with the company so Ridge would be in charge of ALL designs. Again, Ridge begrudges – at Thorne’s say-so? Is this how they are rewarding loyalty to the company now? Mass asks Ridge to let Stephanie finish. She says that thanks to certain influences in recent years, the biggest part of their business is unhealthy for women. She remarks that the underlying message in most of their lines is that women in order to be really attractive, she has to expose almost her entire body. Taylor says Amen. Ridge offers that they are in the business that designs clothes that sell. Taylor laments further that in her business it seems they are selling eating disorders and unrealistic body images to women who have no hope of ever looking like that. Steph adds and that look like Brooke in her underwear. And she tells her that she does look good in her underwear, but that sort of exhibition is finished, over. They are going to have a new image at Forrester. A new face. A new person who will personify everything they’ve ever stood for – class, style, elegance. What this company stood for before, and will again. She’s practically in her pulpit as she vows she wants Forrester Creations to lead a lifestyle movement for women. She wants women to be proud of themselves. She wants them to look at themselves with respect inside and out. She wants a new face, a new image. And she’d like that new face at Forrester's to be……Taylor’s. Taylor does a double take glancing at Stephanie. Brooke belts out, “Taylor? What? She’s going to psychoanalyze our skirts for the masses?” Steph tells Taylor she can accept or not, it’s up to her. Taylor thinks it over and finally says that she has two teen-age daughters and she’s pretty sick of sexual displays in advertising. Girls are being taught that their entire social value is all in the way they look. And she thinks it’s about time that women get a positive, healthy message about their role in society, so why not let Forrester lead the way? And she thinks it’s a great idea and she’ll be there for her all the way, if Thorne thinks he can work with her. Ridge peeps, “well, speak now or forever be a yes man.” Despite or maybe in spite of Ridge’s mouthing off, Thorne goes and stands beside Taylor and says he likes the idea. “Taylor has style; she embodies elegance; she’s family. Welcome to the team, Taylor.” Long silence, then Stephanie turns to Eric for the next word. He simply shakes his head in disgust and disbelief.

Nicks tells his mother this marriage will either recover or it won’t. Bridget can consider it anything she wants, but the reality is that he is her husband. Jackie asks even if it is possible, is a reconciliation really what he wants? He stops her and says he was in love with something he couldn’t have and now he realizes that all he has is the truth. And he has an incredible wife that he loves, who is expecting a child, HIS child. Now, that’s the truth and what he has to work with. He toys with the ring and then puts it back on his finger. Jackie takes it and clasps it tightly and tells him he is very brave and very wise. He kisses her hand and tells her he doesn’t know about that. And he doesn’t know where this is going, but he knows it starts right now. It starts with Bridget and his child because that’s his future. And he can only pray to God that they take him back.

Steph goes and stands between Thorne and Taylor and tells them this is the future of Forrester. Ridge offers she might want to find a different way to say that if she’s in front of an audience. She smiles and says maybe and some people may say this is the end of Forrester, but she thinks it is a change that is due. She looks at Ridge and says she hopes he and Rick will stay and give them a sense of continuity. And that eventually she will re-distribute the stock and those people who have kept them strong and successful, believe her, they will NOT be disappointed, and she pats Thorne on back. Brooke smarts that bribes now, that’s really classy and dignified. Stephanie snarks, “you still here? You know, if it weren’t for you, we would be taking this step together as a family, as husband and wife, Eric. And, you were right. I would never have had anything to do with the trust.” Mass wants to stop her. Stephanie steps forth toward Eric and says Mass only wants to keep her from saying something that can legally be held against her. But, she doesn’t care.

Standing before him, she sighs and says she knows him so well. She knows all his faults. And she loved him so much that she even learned to love his faults. She tells him he was so beautiful. She can stand there and still see that stunning young man….”is Brooke still…is she still as wanton as I was those first years of marriage with you?” And how many nights they were there in this office and didn’t get any work done? Ridge opines that he doesn’t need to hear this right now; he walks away. Arms folded, Eric tells her that she needed him then, and she needs him now. She steels herself and lays her hands on his arm and tells him softly that yes, he’s made such a success of this company, such a brilliant mind, so talented and he had such a spiritual quality that nothing touched…until HER! “Did you really have to drag me through the gutter? Not once, but twice? No matter what I accomplish from this moment on, it won’t be the same without you. Did you really have to lie and betray me? And hurt me in a way that no woman…..” Out of the blue, she suddenly knees him in the groin and he falls to the floor half grasping onto his desk, writhing in pain and everyone looks on in shock. Steph finishes her sentence….”that no woman could ever explain it to a man.”

If looks could kill…….the War of the Roses, er Forrester’s has begun!
