As The World Turns Update Friday 9/15/00

By Bethany

Carly arrives at Craig's and is stunned when Katie answers the door.
She tries to get past her but Katie tells her that she can't see
Craig. Finally, Craig hears her and lets her into the room. He stuns
Carly when he says that Katie is his sister. He asks Katie to leave
the room so he can talk with her.  In a classic example of the pot
calling the kettle black, Katie warns Craig about Carly. She is a
viper she says. Craig makes it clear that he can handle himself.
Katie leaves. What does she want with him? Carly tells him that she
needs help getting custody of Parker. What she needs in a lawyer.
Barbara is driving her nuts, acting like Parker is hers. Doesn't she
have enough children of her own without going after hers, Carly asks?
Craig points out the advantages that Hal is able to supply Parker.
Why does she want to rock the boat? Does she have a clue what it will
be like going up against Hal and Barbara. Is he going to help her or
not. She brings up the micro-chips that she tried to help Craig find
while they were in Hong Cong. He owes her. Well, let see, she stole
his cash, and his first class ticket home. Well, she reminds him that
she gave him a very expensive pair of earrings when he got back to
Oakdale. She continues to beg and tells him she will do anything for
him in exchange for his help. Anything? He says he needs a dinner
companion. Carly agrees but dinner is all. He also offers her the
spare bedroom and bath to the suite and will lend her money until she
gets a decent job.
Barbara and Hal are arguing in the kitchen when Adam arrives. He
welcomes them home. After a few moments, Hal tells Adam that he would
like for him to leave the room. He and Barbara are having a major
discussion. Adam mistakenly thinks that they have found out about
Bryant coming to the house after they left. Hal tells Adam to get
Jennifer down there now. When she come in the room, Hal takes a hard
line with her dispite Barbara's warning to go easy until he gets the
whole story. Jennifer and Hal argue and he threatens to send her back
to boarding school. Jennifer tries to explain that Bryant was there
to see him so he could apologize for the accident but Hal is livid.
Tearfully, Jennifer leaves the room. Barbara crawls all over Hal for
jumping Jennifer like he did and somehow the conversation turns to
Barbara's treatment of Carly. Things go from bad to worse when Hal
brings up Barbara's checkered past. Oh, now she sees it. He is taking
out the problems that they had in the past out on Jennifer. He has
never forgiven her for lying about Jennifer's paternity. Hal says
that they need to cool it before Jennifer walks back in the room and
hears too much. Barbara says that before he continues the way things
are now that she will tell her the truth. Jennifer does come back
into the kitchen but Hal softens when Barbara says that she needs to
leave for a few days in New York. He assures Jennifer that he loves
her and she leave to watch a ballgame with Will. Barbara insists that
the time alone will do them both some good. Hal leaves and a tearful
Barbara tears down the welcome home banner.
At the airport, Lily begs Simon to stay. If she is going to repair
the damage to her marriage, he can't. She tells him that he is the
only thing about her life that makes any sense now. He can't leave
her, please stay she begs. She tells him that she will get him a
motel room. He can't take anymore money from her especially since he
accused Holden of living off her. The final boarding call comes
across the intercom and Simon says he must go. She tries one more
time and finally Simon agrees to stay for one more night.
Emma is still at the house and has no idea about the days events. All
she knows is that Lily left her with the children. Holden arrives and
fills her in about the events at the police station. He doesn't know
who Lily is anymore. Emma offers him some practical advice. Trust
your love that the two of them have. They have been through so much
together and they will get through this. Emma leaves the room to take
care of the children and Holden prays that Lily will let Simon just
leave,
Back at the motel room that Lily has gotten for him, Simon paces the
floor. Lily arrives and Simon asks her why she wouldn't ride in the
cab with him to the motel. People there know her she explains. The
conversation is more of the airport scene. She can't forgive everyone
who did not realize Rose was not her. Simon tells her that she needs
to make a choice, here and now. Choose between her life and him. Lily
is appalled and hurries out of the room. After she leaves, Simon
notifies the desk clerk that he is checking out. There is a knock at
the door and it is Lily. She came back and when she enters the room,
she pulls Simon into an embrace and they fall onto the bed.
