All My Children Update Wednesday 7/11/01

By Angela

"Te vagy a szivem" Laura utters, causing Ryan to turn around and stare at her with his mouth hung open in shock. Gillian is ecstatic that she's been able to get through to Ryan. At first he thinks that Gillian is there with him, but then he rethinks and accuses Leo and Laura of playing a really bad joke on him. He tells them it means "You are my heart" and Gillian said it to him all the time. I'm not sure how it is that Laura was supposed to have known that, but Ryan is in a bad way, most of his blood came from a bottle of booze, and I'm willing to give him a break. He stalks out of the condo and Laura wants to go after him but Leo stops her.

Ryan sits down outside and Gillian appears to him and tries to talk to him. Jesse appears and tells her she's going about it all wrong--Ryan can't see her, hear her, or feel her. She's just making it worse. She says he's got to remember and know she's there for him so she can go back and be with him after her *task* is over. Jesse just rolls his eyes. Gillian throws a beach ball to Ryan to get his attention and remind him of the last day they spent on the beach together. He does remember that, but then gets angry and throws the ball, saying that he doesn't want to remember. Gillian is devastated and wants to know why he doesn't want to remember. Jesse tells her it's because his heart is broken and he has to forget to heal. He takes her and they go off together.

Inside the condo, Brooke is ranting and raving at Leo again. She wants to know if he's serious about Laura--after all, she knows how he is. Evidently she's forgotten that she believes he's changed. He tells her he's committed to Laura. She goes to check on Laura and a delivery man knocks on the door. He's delivering a cup of coffee to Leo from Greenlee. There's a note asking him to meet her that night.

Tad has spent the night with Dixie (on the sofa) after taking J.R. home. Dixie asks Tad to talk to J.R. and he's about to do so when Adam knocks on the door. He is angry that they want to take J.R. to drug counseling. No son of his is going to see a shrink for a drug problem! After all, it was only ONE prescription pain pill. One pill doesn't make him an addict! Tad shows him the *candy* necklace and tells him that J.R. bought it and Jamie and Petey almost ate it. Adam pales. J.R. comes down fully expecting Adam to get him off the hook with Tad and Dixie. Tad and Dixie leave Adam alone with J.R. Adam hugs him and tells him that he needs to do what his mother wants. J.R. is angry but Adam shows him the candy necklace. J.R. says he's not an addict. What he is doing is no worse than Adam's drinking. Adam says he knows what's in those bottles--does J.R. know what's on that candy necklace string? Does he know for sure that there's not something on it that could kill him? J.R. admits that he doesn't. But he's not an addict! Adam asks him if he was going to sell the XTC. JR says "Of course not!" And Adam replies, "Then this is all for you." J.R. agrees to see the counselor.

Adam tells him that David caught him on tape confessing that he stole the drugs and now David is blackmailing him. J.R. tells him to not give in to David--to let David take the tape to the police. But Adam tells him that it could ruin his life and he is not to talk to anyone about David and the tape. Especially not Liza. He tells him that he'll take care of it.

Outside Tad and Dixie are confessing to each other that they spent the night thinking of how nice it would be to be in the same bed. However, they are still not ready to rush into anything. Tad wants to tell J.R. that they are working things out but Dixie thinks it's too soon. Adam comes out and tells Dixie and Tad that JR will see the counselor. He asks Tad to go easy on the boy. Tad calls Derek and asks him to come over right away. Dixie leaves with J.R. to see the counselor.

Derek comes over and Tad is furious. He asks him what he's going to do about the PV drug problem. He shows him the candy necklace and tells him that he thinks JR got it from Sweeney. Derek tells him to stay out of it and let the police handle it. He tells him that he'll give J.R. a pass this time on the necklace but Tad is to stay away from Sweeney and not get involved. Tad promises. When Derek leaves, Tad indicates that he has no intentions of keeping that promise.

Ryan goes to the yacht and Adam is there. He basically tells Ryan, "Hey, I'm sorry your wife is dead, but buck up little camper! You have a business to run!" He tells Ryan that he's invested a lot of money in Incredible Dreams and the word on the street is that the company is going down the toilet. He tells him to "get to work!" Ryan punches him in the face. Adam goes down.

Erica is in the park having a photo shoot. A dog comes running up and jumps on her. Of course, the dog belongs to Chris, and Erica is furious! The photographer gets lots of pictures of her trying to push the dog away. She asks them not to use the pictures but the photographer thinks they will be great, along with a quote from Erica "I don't do down to earth!" They leave and Chris asks her not to tell his supervisor on him for the incident in her office. He tells her he holds down two jobs, barely makes ends meet, and now he has a dog to feed. She tells him she won't tell on him, but he's on probation with her. He gets glib and she gets mad. She starts to leave and he holds out her briefcase that she's forgotten. He turns it upside down and everything falls out. He helps her pick everything up, but lifts her keys. He and the dog take the keys and go to Erica's house to see *how the other half lives.*

Ryan, Leo and Laura are together at the house and Gillian is hovering around trying to get Ryan to notice that she is there, and Laura has said something that Gillian has made her say. It was something that she used to tell Ryan all the time. She doesn’t even understand what she said; only Ryan knows what it means. Laura is shocked at herself and doesn’t know what power compelled her to say what she did. Gillian begs her to say more. Laura utters more words in Hungarian. Ryan almost falls over. This is incredible. Gillian had to come back; this is where she belongs. He knows that she is there with him right then. The 3 people stand in the room stunned at what has just happened. Ryan can’t help thinking that this is some sort of joke. How did she know those words? Laura tells him that she doesn’t speak any Hungarian and doesn’t understand what happened. She felt like she was hypnotized. Leo thinks that maybe she got something more from the transplant and that may be why she uttered those words. Ryan thinks that is ludicrous. Gillian is not living on in anyone, she is dead. He storms out and Leo stops her from going after him. Laura feels bad. Ryan sits outside Laura and Leo’s house and contemplates what has happened just now. Gillian follows him outside, but he cannot see her. She stoops by him and just watches him in his pain. She tries to talk to him but he can’t hear her. Jesse appears and tells Gillian that she is not able to communicate with him this way. She has to find a way to touch his heart. She walks over to a beach ball on the porch where they are and she rolls the ball to the chair where Ryan is sitting and he turns and sees the ball. He asks if anybody is there. Of course, no one answers. Jesse thinks that she is only freaking Ryan out. She tells Ryan not to be afraid, just to remember. Jesse tells her that she is just messing with his mind and not helping him. Gillian is going to do this anyway. She tells him to watch her and he will see. She tells him to remember that day they had on the beach together. They have to get it back. Ryan does remember the day on the beach where they told each other that they could do anything together. Ryan suddenly gets up and throws the ball furious because he doesn’t want to remember. Jesse tells her that he is acting that way because he lost her and he cannot be with her anymore. Gillian doesn’t understand why she is able to reach him sometimes. She feels that is her task. Jesse doesn’t know what her task is. She wants to know who does know what her task is. He tells her to chill out and take a look at the whole picture. This is about a whole community that she used to be a part of. She might be able to learn what she needs to do. She is sure that her task has to do with Ryan.

Erica is in the park having pictures taken of her. She is working on a campaign for her company and she is dressed in a pretty red dress pretending to put makeup on her face. She is sitting on a bench and posing when a big dog comes up and starts playing with her. Erica is highly embarrassed at this intrusion and tries to get away from the dog. Chris arrives shouting, "Ralphie! Ralphie!" He gets the dog holding him and admits to Erica that he was following her when asked. The photographers love the opportunity and snap away at Erica being mauled by the dog. Erica is not pleased! She tells the photographers that they are not going to use the pictures of her with the dogs. The photographers think that this is a great opportunity, but Erica doesn’t like it. Chris wants to tell her why he was following her. She is not curious at all about him. She tells him that he is rude and that he is stalking her. He tells her that he was only watching her out in the open. He was watching her get her pictures taken and had to watch her. She amazes him and he tries to convince her of that. My God, the night before she was involved in a fire and now she is having her picture taken. She tells him to leave her alone, but he will not do that. She looks like a million bucks. She is a real pro! She is starting to believe that he is a real pro. She is not buying his flattery and she wants to know what it is. He brings her an ice cream cone and she tells him to feed it to his dog. He tempts her again with the ice cream, but she refuses it and he starts eating it himself. She asks him again what he wants from her. He thinks that she is being silly for thinking that he wants something back. He tells her that he needs a favor from her. She has been making noise about him at the job as janitor. She shouldn’t stop him from trying to make a living. He is trying to make ends meet. He lives in a boarding house and he just found a starving dog that needs to be fed, so he would like her to give him a break.

Adam arrives to see Dixie and Tad and he tells them…"There is no way that I am going to let you do this to my son!" Dixie tries to keep the two from arguing. Adam learns that JR was going to take drugs but was stopped by Jamie taking the necklace of drugs accidentally and almost eating it. JR put it in his backpack by accident and then lost control of it. Jamie went home with Opal’s son and the two were about to take the drug when Brooke and Opal intervened. Adam immediately calms down realizing that they probably did the right thing. Tad is furious and thinks that JR is taking all of this too easily and he obviously isn’t learning from his constant brushes with the law. Something else must be done to make him see that he could not only hurt himself, but others. JR enters the room and is glad to see his father. He wants reassurance that Tad and Dixie are not going to make him take responsibility for his actions. Adam tells his son that he has to talk to someone and get on track again and regain himself. JR has had several scrapes with the law. JR has passed several drug tests and Adam tells him that there is more for them to worry about. Once alone, Adam tells him that David set a trap for him and JR fell for it. Adam tells him that he admitted that he stole drugs and used them. David has all of this on videotape and if Adam doesn’t help him, he is going to take the tape to the police. Even if they neutralize David, JR is still going to be in trouble. Doesn’t JR ever want to go to college and have a good life? JR promises that he will get his act in order so that he can never be hurt by anyone. Adam tells him that no one can know about this tape. This has to be their secret. This is important. JR gives his father his word.

Dixie and Tad are outside the house talking about the way that Adam is going to handle this. It means a lot to Dixie that Tad loves JR the way that he does. Tad has always thought of JR as his son and it is always going to be that way. She thanks Tad for spending the night with them. He was comfortable in the sofa. He can deal with that, it is only the loneliness that gets to him. He wished that he could be in his own bed with Dixie and she was wishing the same thing. Tad considers telling JR that they are back together. They are not back together, but he might like the news that they are getting along better. JR acts like he doesn’t want any help. He feels like they let him down. He might not forgive Tad and Dixie and he might not trust them for a while. He has his friends even though they are not that great. JR won’t tell them where he gets the drugs but he has been hanging out with that Sweenie character that was at the party the night before. Tad feels that he has to go to the police. Tad might get JR in trouble, but Tad is sure that Derek will help them if they ask him right. Adam comes out saying that JR has agreed to talk to the police. Dixie goes in to talk with JR and Adam asks Tad not to come down too hard on JR, then he leaves. Tad makes a call to someone and says that he would like to see him or her as soon as possible.

Brooke comes to Leo and Laura and they tell Brooke what happened when Laura started talking in Hungarian. Brooke is sure that Laura heard those words before and that was why she was able to speak that way. Laura leaves the room and Leo and Brooke talk about Greenlee. Brooke wants to know if he still has feelings for Greenlee, because she still has feelings for him. He says that Greenlee is in the past. He understands why she has the doubts that she has. When he was with Greenlee, he was selfish but now he is with Laura and she has changed his life. Brooke leaves to check on her daughter. Double Lattés are delivered to Leo while Brooke is gone. He didn’t order any Lattés but takes them anyway. He reads a note that comes with the Lattés and finds out that they are from Greenlee.

Ryan returns to the boat and Steven tells him that they have a problem with the business. Ryan tells him that he doesn’t give a damn about the business. Adam appears and tells Ryan that he doesn’t give a damn about anything lately, but that is going to change if he has anything to do with it. Adam reminds him that he promised that he would change the company around and he hasn’t been doing anything. Adam knows that he has suffered a terrible loss but there is a time to mourn and there is a time to say, "I am going to do something now." He wants Ryan to stop wallowing in his grief and get back to work. Ryan slugs Adam dead in the jaw and takes a sip of his drink. Adam falls to the ground and rubs his jaw, not really sure what has just happened to him.
