Episode #11641 ~ Victor makes a power move; Adam receives a surprise visitor.
Provided By Suzanne
Previously on "the young and the restless"...
Cane: Tonight, there's a -- a dedication ceremony for neil. Would you be my date?
Ana: You had a panic attack.
Devon: Okay, okay. I did. I had an attack. What do you want from me?
Ana: I just want you to know it's okay to ask for help.
Victor: I have a rare blood disease.
Nikki: Oh, my god.
Victoria: I deserve to be C.E.O. When dad steps down, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let adam take that away from me!
Adam: Now it is time for christian to know his real dad.
Nick: I am never giving him up, ever.
Why the sudden interest in adam newman?
Rey: What is this?
Sharon: Pinot noir from australia.
Sharon: You like it?
Rey: Yeah. I'm usually more of a beer guy, but it's not half-bad. Nice way to relax.
Sharon: We haven't done much of that lately ever since i convinced adam to come home.
Rey: [ Sighs ]
Sharon: It's one of the many reasons that I wish I hadn't done that.
Rey: Babe, we all make mistakes. As long as we learn from them, they serve a purpose.
Sharon: So you know, I told adam how I feel.
Rey: That you're sorry he's back in genoa city.
Sharon: And that I had any part in it, given the terrible things that he's done. I told him that I'm through with him and that he needs to leave me alone.
Rey: And what did he say to that?
Sharon: He agreed to stay away from me.
Sharon: He wasn't too happy about it.
Rey: Well, I sure the hell am. Thank you for taking such a strong stance with him. Hopefully it'll be a long time before either one of us hears the name "adam" again.
[ Knocks on door ]
Sharon: Nick! What brings you by?
Nick: I need to talk to rey. It's about adam.
Billy: What the hell are you doing here at my daughter's grave? You're the reason that she's here.
Adam: I didn't mean to intrude.
Billy: No, but you are.
Adam: If I had known you were gonna be here, I wouldn't --
Billy: I belong here, you do not. If there's one place in the entire world that you shouldn't step foot in, this is it.
And every day
it still gets better
she's got style, she's got class
she's just on another level
he's so fly, makes me laugh
yeah, he's just some kind of special
[ Cheers and applause ]
Jack: That was sensational.
Elena: Sure was.
Jack: Neil would have been blown away.
Devon: Yeah, man. I really am missing him tonight.
[ Knocks on door ]
Victor: Come in!
Victoria: I got your message.
Victor: Well, thank you for being so prompt!
Victoria: Is everything okay? Why did you want to meet so late?
Victor: Well, I got some, uh, news regarding my treatment.
Victoria: Good news, I hope.
Victor: Yeah, apparently, the condition has stabilized, you know, which is positive.
Victoria: [ Sighs ]
Victor: But, uh... that isn't enough for me.
Victoria: What does that mean?
Victor: I have come to the conclusion that your mother is right. She thinks in order to optimize the treatment I should take some time off.
Victor: Which means that I will be stepping away from newman, temporarily. And I want you to become C.E.O. While I'm gone.
Nick: I need you to do some digging for me so I can win my custody case.
Rey: Okay, what did you have in mind?
Nick: I want to know what adam was up to those three years in vegas where we all thought he was dead and gone.
Rey: Well, I assumed you had everything you needed. I mean, dear lord, this guy is malicious. He took your child, he gave it to victor and ashley, led sharon to believe that her baby had died. He ran over delia and covered it up. He changed the paternity test on christian so he could walk away, nick.
Nick: It's an endless list, rey, one atrocity after another, but I cannot rely on the distant past to convince a judge he's an unfit father.
Sharon: Nick and I both have a lot of experience with custody battles. They don't always turn out the way that you expect, and adam will try to make the case that he's turned his life around and changed.
Nick: We all know he is a sociopath who shouldn't be around children. But all it takes is one judge who really believes in redemption.
Sharon: Everyone will claim that they want what's in the best interest of the child. Not everyone will agree on what that is.
Nick: The bottom line is, every time you go to court, it is a crapshoot and, where my son is concerned, I cannot take that chance.
Rey: All right, so what i hear you saying is that you need some recent evidence that proves that adam is still of dubious character.
Nick: I think if you go to vegas and turn over enough stones, you will find some shady behavior. I mean, I've made some inquiries myself...
Rey: You know what, nick, why don't we have this conversation somewhere else? I think sharon's trying to steer clear of all things adam. I'd like to respect her wishes.
Sharon: Uh, no, I'll go. You two stay. I need to check in at the coffeehouse anyway.
Adam: If I had known you were here, I wouldn't have come. But, to me, this visit is long overdue.
Billy: You thought you were gonna find me in a moment of weakness and push my buttons?
Adam: No, I'm not trying to mess with you, billy. All right? I swear. It's just -- delia has been on my mind, since I can't be with my own kids. I know that doesn't compare to your loss because my kids are healthy and thriving. But they are not a part of my life right now, and it's killing me. So I just came to tell delia one last time how sorry I am that she is not with her family.
Billy: She's with her mother, at least.
Adam: [ Sighs ] You know, when my memories came rushing back, it wasn't just because I got shot. It started before that, when you and victoria told me what I'd done to delia. The, uh, guilt that my mind was trying to cover was so close to the surface. Now, it terrified me. I know that you can relate.
Billy: No, see, don't do that. Don't pretend that we have anything in common because we are not alike, and we never will be.
Adam: There was a time when you thought you could forgive me.
Billy: If you're talking about what I said at your trial, see, there's a subtly that you're missing. Because forgiveness isn't something that happens once and it stays done. Every time I am reminded that I'm never gonna see my daughter again, the pain that I feel, that doesn't go away. It's not done. Every christmas, every holiday. Every milestone deedee doesn't get to experience is like a fresh gaping hole, and then i see you in your old malignant ways, not even trying to pretend to be a better man, and it just compounds the tragedy.
Adam: Well, that is not how i look at things, but I understand if you need to see them that way.
Billy: Oh, you're gonna allow me my feelings? After what you took from me. Get the hell out of here. I swear to god, you got three seconds, or I am going to completely lose it on you.
Victoria: I don't know what to say. I wasn't expecting this. I mean, you've been very resistant to the idea about stepping back.
Victor: I know I have.
Victoria: Which makes me worry that maybe this is only happening because your illness is worse than you're letting on.
Victor: Sweetheart, I assure that I am not hiding anything, okay? It is just that... I have to acknowledge the reality of the situation, that's all. And, uh, even if I wanted to ignore it, your mother wouldn't let me.
Victoria: Well, I promise you, you will not regret giving me this chance. I am gonna make you so proud.
Victor: Should have been you all along.
Victoria: Yes, it should have been me, and I appreciate you acknowledging that. I think I have more than proven myself. Of course, I understand you trying to establish the kind of father-son relationship that you feel you've missed out on.
Victor: That idea has passed.
Victoria: Dad, adam did you a favor by walking away. He is sharp, and he's very clever, but he has no character, and his values are pitiful. The team here never would have trusted him. This is for the best. I know you don't see that now, but you will.
Victor: You know, the fact that you can run this company with integrity is going to make you even more successful than you were before.
Victoria: Thank you. That is my goal.
Victor: So you go.
Victoria: [ Laughs ]
Victor: You go and enjoy yourself, okay?
Victoria: No, I've got to get to work.
Victor: I know my company is in good hands now.
Jack: Mallory, this is my sister traci and our friend cane.
Cane: It's nice to meet you, mallory.
Traci: Have we met? You seem so familiar to me.
Mallory: My father is a resident at bright tomorrows.
Traci: That's it! Oh, of course, our mother's there, too. I -- that's where I know you from.
Mallory: I've noticed you there, as well. It's nice to finally put a name with the face.
Traci: Oh, thank you.
Jack: Is lily gonna be here? I was hoping to see her.
Cane: Uh, unfortunately, she has to work.
Jack: Oh, what a shame.
Cane: Yeah. Yeah, she's, uh -- she's disappointed.
Jack: Oh! That's my cue. Showtime. Excuse me, please.
Devon: I would like to bring to the stage mr. Jack abbott to fill you all in on some exciting news with the abbott-winters foundation. Jack, take it away.
[ Applause ]
Jack: I am delighted to see the turnout tonight, as we gather to dedicate this stage to a beloved friend, colleague, community member, uncle, and father. Anyone who knew neil would tell you that music was his first love. When the foundation board debated over how best to use the very generous donations that were sent in, in neil's honor, we quickly agreed music would have to be part of it. Neil would want us to pay it forward to the musicians, to the songwriters who gave him so much joy and comfort and consolation during his lifetime. Many of you already know that alcohol and drug use are, uh, deeply embedded in the performing arts culture and lifestyle. What you may not know is that artists have special challenges in dealing with the disease of addiction. Many of them are afraid that if they fully embrace sobriety, their creativity suffers, that they would be overwhelmed by anxiety, by exhaustion, by depression -- the very depression that they are trying to self-medicate. They worry that they will be cut off from their connection to the business, that their careers will suffer. Good people, talented people are being kept from what they need most. We've lost too much talent far too young. So I am very proud tonight to announce that the abbott-winters foundation is developing an intensive treatment program geared specifically to the needs of music industry professionals with substance abuse problems. Our goal is to develop a model that can be used across the country. As our friend neil would say, "it's good to touch a life. It's better to save one." Thank you all for being here.
[ Applause ]
Nick: When mom hired you to go to vegas to check on what my dad was up to, did you happen to run across any of spider's gambling associates?
Rey: Yeah. A woman named riza. I met her once.
Nick: Yeah, my mom mentioned her. Who was she to adam?
Rey: Well, essentially, she was his agent. She'd set up the underground poker games and take a cut of the action.
Nick: And she just offered up this information?
Rey: Mm, I pieced it together. She wasn't very talkative.
Nick: All right, well, maybe things are different now. You know, her meal ticket's bailed. If she's not happy, she might be a little more forthcoming.
Rey: It's worth a try.
Traci: I am so proud of what you're doing.
Jack: You like our latest brainstorm?
Traci: Jack, it's perfect. It's exactly what neil stood for. Offering people understanding and hope, it's just a beautiful, beautiful living tribute to his legacy.
Jack: Well, I am hopeful, with the board's help, that we will get this thing up and running by the fall.
Traci: That would be fabulous.
Jack: Now, where is mallory?
Traci: Um, she's just gone to powder her nose.
Traci: And, jack... I'm very glad to see you socializing, you know, making some new friends...
Jack: Oh, boy, it's official. I need to get out. It seems to be the consensus everywhere I go.
Traci: [ Laughs ] Well, i guess I can't really comment in that area because I've been spending most of my time locked in the house working on my book.
Jack: Well, you're here now, right?
Traci: Yeah, but it was cane's idea. He -- he wanted to be here for the dedication, but he's still feeling a little awkward with lily's family.
Jack: He's lucky to have you as a friend.
Traci: Well, it's -- it's not like that. Um, what I mean is that of course he's a friend. I just didn't want it to sound, you know, like a pity case.
Jack: Why not? I pity him. Losing lily, not having her in his life anymore... I'm sure he's got bruises from kicking himself.
Sharon: How's your night going?
Adam: Um...terrible. Thanks for asking.
Victoria: Well, it's only 10:00 A.M. There, so you should be able to get ahold of everyone that you need to make that change. Terrific. You, too. Bye-bye.
Billy: I got your text, but it looks like you've got your hands full.
Victoria: Well, that's what happens when you become the C.E.O. Of a mega-conglomerate.
Billy: I, uh -- I know I told you that I was gonna bring pizza home for the kids -- wait, hold on a second. What did you just say? Did you say C.E.O.?
Victoria: It just happened.
Victoria: Dad's taking a leave of absence.
Billy: Oh, my gosh! Congratulations.
Victoria: Thank you.
Billy: Finally saw the light, didn't he?
Victoria: Yeah, well, I wish it were under happier circumstances.
Billy: Is it because of his illness?
Victoria: Mom's persuaded him to sort of, you know, put his health first. It's supposed to be top-secret so, please, don't let on that you know.
Billy: I am just delighted that you finally get what you've been working so hard for.
Victoria: Well, it's just an invitation to work that much harder.
Billy: Hey! Life at the top.
Victoria: Yeah. But I want to make some big moves right away, to show the world that I'm not just a placeholder for victor newman, or for anyone else, for that matter.
Billy: What, you think your father's gonna change his mind and replace you with you-know-who?
Victoria: If I do an amazing job, I don't think the thought will even occur to him.
Billy: Well, I think you're gonna have to do more than that. Speaking of the snake, I just saw him at the cemetery.
Victoria: Adam was at the cemetery?
Billy: At delia's grave, yeah.
Billy: [ Sighs ] He said he was there to pay his respects.
Victoria: Oh. Yeah. Uh-huh. Why was he really there?
Billy: I don't know, I didn't allow him to stick around long enough to waste my time and figure out.
Victoria: Good. Good choice.
Billy: My point is... if that lowlife would use delia's death to try and get a reaction out of me, there is no bottom.
Victoria: Well, that's something that we all know already.
Billy: So if you want to hold on to this position, the one that you deserve, job number one is keeping an eye on adam. Look what he did to nick and dark horse.
Victoria: Using the money that I gave him. However, I think I have a way to neutralize the threat.
Billy: Then what are you waiting for?
Sharon: You didn't say whether this was for here or to go.
Adam: So you made the choice for me.
[ Sighs ] I'm sorry.
Sharon: For what?
Adam: I told you I would stay out of your life, and every time you turn around, there I am. I should find a new place to get coffee.
Sharon: I -- I didn't mean to ban you from crimson lights, it's fine. I just really thought we should set some boundaries.
Adam: Well, you'll be seeing a lot less of me because I'm moving back into my old penthouse.
Sharon: I never expected you to move because of what I said.
Adam: I'm not. Dad evicted me. I guess if I want to talk to anybody in this town, I'll have to get a dog.
Sharon: Is that why you said your night was terrible, because you fought with victor?
Adam: I stopped by delia's grave. I -- I don't know why, I just felt the need. Billy was there, and he was already upset, of course, because, you know, he was thinking about his beloved child that died, and... who shows up but the heartless bastard who killed her?-My timing was impeccable, as always.
Sharon: Well, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for both of your sakes. That sounds intense.
Adam: No, intense, I could have handled. Once billy got rolling, things got ugly, and it just -- what am I doing? I promise to keep you out of all my drama.
Sharon: I was really just talking about custody battles and corporate espionage, not something like this. I mean, if it helps you to talk --
Adam: No, sharon, all right? I can't keep leaning on you indefinitely. It is not fair to either one of us.
Sharon: Adam --
Adam: Look, you need a clean break, and, if I'm being honest, it's probably the best thing for me, too.
[ Sighs ] Even though I am going to hate it. Good night.
Cane: So, I, uh -- I knew this bloke in australia, and, uh, he was a singer-songwriter, a really talented guy. Anyway, he had this horrible stage fright, and every time he would go up onstage, he'd freeze. So he started drinking some beers. Next thing you know, he's chasing the beers with whiskey, with pills on top of it, and, see, he kind of got to the point where... well, he was so out of it, he'd go up onstage and freeze anyway.
Traci: That's awful. That's the worst kind of irony, it's so sad.
Cane: Right, right, but I'm thinking -- you know, that program that jack was talking about, it would be a godsend for this guy, and I'm pretty certain that devon's gonna get involved, and... I don't know, maybe I could pitch him, too, you know?
Traci: Oh! I'm sure they would want that. I mean, you have so much to offer. I'm sure some of these folks have had brushes with the law, and...
Cane: Right. Yeah. Right.
Traci: You could talk them through the process of rebuilding their lives, just like you do with your clients at work.
Traci: That would be wonderful.
Cane: [ Sighs ] Yeah. Looks like lily made it after all. Well, at least devon's gonna be delighted.
"The young and the restless"
Devon: Oh! Hey, I thought you had to work.
Lily: Yeah, I did, but i didn't want to miss this, so i got someone to cover for me
Devon: Oh, well, I appreciate the effort. You remember elena, right?
Lily: Of course. Good to see you.
Elena: Good to see you.
Devon: And, uh, just so you know, cane is here.
Lily: Yeah, I know. It's fine. It's fine. He loved dad, too, so... will you show me the plaque that you had made for dad?
Devon: Yeah, for sure. It's right over here.
Jack: Look who's here!
Lily: Hey! Jack!
Jack: What a nice surprise!
Lily: Oh, thanks!
Jack: Mallory, this is lily, neil's daughter.
Lily: Hi, nice to meet you.
Jack: She's come all the way from lakewood tonight.
Mallory: I'm so sorry for your loss.
Lily: Oh, thank you.
Jack: Devon, I have a foundation donor at the end of the bar that wants to talk to you personally.
Devon: Sure thing, sure thing. Would you mind showing lily the plaque?
Elena: Yeah, of course.
Devon: Okay. I'll be right back. See ya.
Jack: Thanks, man.
Traci: Do you want to go say hello to lily?
Cane: No, there's -- there's no rush. She just got here. Let's finish our drinks.
Traci: Okay. That's fine with me.
Devon: Hey. You and jett sounded really great tonight.
Ana: Glad you approve. And don't worry if I get in late tonight. I agreed to help with clean-up.
Devon: You don't have to. We have staff for that stuff.
Ana: I need the extra time to cool off. For you to bring in someone to train me like I'm some newbie, I thought you had more confidence in my ability, but apparently I was wrong.
Devon: Ana, I don't want to talk about this right now. Okay? I'm trying to focus on my dad. Did you forget what tonight is supposed to be about?
[ Door slams ]
Victor: What the hell are you doing here?
Billy: I believe in giving credit where it's due. I chewed you out for treating adam like an undeserved favorite. Then you went and promoted victoria, which was the right thing to do. For your family and your business.
Victor: What makes you think I give a damn about whether I have your approval or not?
Lily: Charlie and mattie are going to love dad's plaque. I know he would have loved it, too. That quote was one of his favorite.
Elena: Yeah. Yeah, it was really important for devon to get it right. All the little details. He and abby spent a lot of time coordinating everything.
Lily: I'm really worried about him. I feel like he's taking on too much. Right? I mean, he's arranging this tribute and organizing jett's tour, overseeing the restaurant. He's running hamilton-winters without my dad... and lost his assistant when he made ana his partner at lp.
Elena: And ana hasn't really been around. She went with jett on his first few gigs to help him get used to being on tour again.
Lily: Oh. So that means that you and devon are staying at the penthouse?
Elena: [ Chuckles ]
Lily: [ Giggles ]
Lily: I'm not trying to pry, I'm really not, but, uh... I am happy that devon has found someone special again.
Elena: Thank you for saying so.
Ana: We're all so pleased you could make it.
Lily: Aww, thank you. I'm glad to be here.
Jett: Come on, it's only right.
Lily: Oh! Congratulations on your comeback tour. I'm glad you and ana could come back in time to perform.
Jett: Well, it's the least we could do, especially with how generous devon's been with us.
Lily: Yeah. Oh, where is nate? Did he work tonight?
Ana: No, he was here earlier.
Elena: There was a little tension with nate and devon. Um, nate sold the apartment neil left for him, and devon was not very happy about it.
Nick: It's a little late, don't you think?
Victoria: I realize that you're upset with me, but, please, just hear me out.
Nick: [ Sighs ]
Victoria: Dad surprised me tonight. He promoted me to C.E.O. Mom persuaded him to take a time-out while he's in treatment.
Nick: [ Scoffs ] Well, congratulations. Your teaming up with adam really paid off, and now you have everything you want.
Victoria: No, not everything. I need someone to take over for me at C.O.O., And I think you'd be perfect for the job.
Jack: Take care.
Traci: I'm gonna go say hello to lily.
Lily: It's good to see you.
Traci: Oh, thank you. You too, honey. How are you holding up?
Lily: Um, I'm doing okay. Yeah. This was a great event. Hi.
Lily: I know you weren't expecting to see me.
Cane: Well, you don't hear me complaining, do you?
Lily: Yeah, I was really, uh, sad that I missed the dedication.
Cane: Yeah, um, jack and devon spoke. It was uplifting. And then jack unveiled his new treatment program for musicians and artists.
Devon: My man.
Devon: Thank you so much for that incredible performance tonight.
Jett: Happy to. Happy to, man. And thank you for letting me be a part of tonight.
Devon: Oh, absolutely. You were a very, very important part of tonight, so thank you.
Jett: I appreciate it, man. Um... well, um, you know what?
Jett: I need to find my daughter so I can my goodbye.
Jett: Where is she?
Devon: Yeah, yeah, I think she's at the bar. She's right there.
Jett: All right, excuse me. Excuse me.
Devon: Got it.
Elena: So I'm gonna take jett to the airport.
Devon: I'd like to go with you, see him off.
Devon: But I have to stay and talk to and thank a bunch of people for donations.
Elena: Okay. See you at home later?
Cane: Yeah, they're looking to, uh, roll out the program in the next few months.
Lily: Oh, that's exciting.
Cane: Yeah, it is.
Lily: Well, anyway, thank you for giving me my space tonight.
Cane: Yeah, I know you came, you know, for your dad and devon. But it's, uh -- it's great to see you. You, um... you look well.
Lily: Thank you. You do, too.
Lily: You seem a lot less tense than last time.
Cane: Yeah. Yeah, I suppose I am. Um, well, I don't know where traci went. I, uh -- she may want to get home, you know.
Lily: Oh, are you her ride?
Cane: Yeah. I, uh -- yeah, well, we, uh -- we drove together. Yeah.
Velma: [ Sighs ] Snap out of it, velma. You're the last person in the world that he would ever --
[ Sighs ] If anybody knew the thoughts that were bouncin' around in your mind...
Billy: I think it's time for some straight talk.
Billy: Yeah, um, you've been dealing with some disappointments lately. I'm sure you felt that adam was gonna be your heir apparent, and I guarantee that you were hoping victoria would kick me to the curb.
Victor: You're right about that.
Billy: But neither one of those two things happened. So I think that's good for you because your daughter is going to excel at the helm of this company, and I am going to be part of that success.
Victor: Oh, yeah? How do you figure that?
Billy: Because I'm gonna support her. I'm gonna give her everything she needs because I believe in her. An I think victoria's the right person to lead this company into the future. And I am very excited to watch it happen.
Victor: Well, I hope you mean that, you don't self-destruct halfway through and then dump her, as you have done in the past.
Billy: That's funny. I was gonna say the same thing about you.
Victor: [ Chuckles ] Billy boy. You know the way you came in.
Nick: [ Sighs ] You've got a lot of nerve, vick, thinking i would work with you after what you've done.
Victoria: I know you're not my biggest fan right now.
Nick: You think?
Victoria: With good reason. But I also know that you're smart enough to recognize what I'm offering. Working with me, you could have all of newman enterprises' resources behind you.
Nick: Power doesn't motivate me the same way it does you and dad.
Victoria: Even if you could wield it against adam?
Phyllis: Hi there. Long time, no see.
Velma: [ Sighs ] Okay, velma, old girl. It's time to get back in there.
Traci: Oh, cane. Hi. Hi.
Cane: Hey. Hey. Is, uh -- is everything okay? What are you doing out here?
Traci: Yes. Everything's fine. I -- I just was getting a little bit of air, you know.
[ Sighs ] I had an idea for the story, for the book, and I -- I just needed a private moment to sort of think it through, you know? Sometimes that happens, the story grabs you and it just won't let go.
Cane: Why don't I take you home and you can work in peace?
Traci: No, that's okay. I can find my own way home. I'm sure that you're really anxious to catch up with lily.
Cane: Yeah, I, uh... I already did. Come here. Madame?
Rey: Hey! You're back.
Sharon: Hey. How'd it go with nick?
Rey: We had a productive discussion.
Sharon: Well, I'm glad I went to the coffeehouse. It turns out, brenda was a little under the weather, so i just sent her home for the day and filled in.
Rey: Yeah? Place pretty busy?
Sharon: Put it this way, I'm glad to be home with the man I love.
[ Door opens ]
Devon: Hey. You're home earlier than i thought.
Elena: Devon. What's wrong? Are you having a hard time breathing? I'm gonna loosen your tie. Sit down.
Devon: [ Panting ]
Elena: Is it chest pain? Pressure? Are you light-headed? Nauseous?
Devon: [ Panting ] It's not my heart, it's just -- I need my pills.
Elena: Okay, where are your pillows?
Devon: In the bar.
Devon: [ Panting ]
Elena: It's okay, it's okay. It's okay. Just breathe. Breathe, breathe, breathe.
Devon: [ Panting ]
Elena: Here. Okay. Breathe with me. In...2, 3, 4. Out...2...
Victoria: Thank you for the hospitality.
Nick: You were saying?
Victoria: If you accept the job as my C.O.O., Your first assignment is to bring adam down. I hate that he used my money to buy dark horse out from under you, and I want to help you get it back.
Nick: Well, that has some appeal to me, but dark horse is a secondary concern now.
Victoria: I know it won't mean anything if the judge forces your little boy to go and live with adam.
[ Sighs ] We can make sure that doesn't happen.
Victoria: You know adam's fateful flaw.
Nick: Being a hateful son of a bitch?
Victoria: Over-confidence. He always takes it a step too far, especially when he's cornered. So we corner him. We push him to the brink. And when crosses the line, we catch him, we document it, and we prove to the court that he does not deserve to raise your son. So what do you say? Are you with me?
Adam: Where have you been hiding out? Had a lot of folks worried.
Phyllis: Including you?
Adam: Well, I had hoped you were at some luxurious locale spending a big chunk of that money I gave you.
Phyllis: Well, I was. After I escaped from the hellhole you had me stashed in.
Adam: What are you saying? You've been held somewhere against your will?
Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Don't insult my intelligence by pretending you had nothing to do with it.
Adam: Why would I want to kidnap you, phyllis? After we were working so well together.
Phyllis: Well, I don't know, maybe because I know too much. Guess what? I know more. After I left that roach motel, I went to vegas. You know what they say about vegas. Whatever happens there, stays there. But not in this case.
Phyllis: Don't you come near me because I will scream. This isn't the ranch. You have neighbors.
Adam: I have no intention of hurting you, phyllis. And, anyway, it's pretty clear that you're bluffing.
Phyllis: Why is that, because I could never know about your connections to people in vegas? Especially not to a certain member of the chancellor family?
Next week on "the young and the restless"...
Victor: The treatment I've been getting is no longer working. Apparently, there's a new drug that they experimented with...
Nick: Well, it sounds like this is your best bet to beat the disease.
Victor: The side effects.
Cane: I'm proud that I could have played a small part in helping you find your story. It's incredible. You're incredible.
Adam: You can stop playing nice. We both know you would kill me right now if you could.
