Episode #11533 ~ Nikki faces danger, and sparks fly between Cane and Victoria.

Provided By Suzanne

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Ana: I want the fans to believe in your talent as much as I do.

Fen: But what about yours?

Ana: If you're about to start pushing again for me to tell devon I'm the songwriter, don'T.

Phyllis: I'm with nick.

Billy: That's because you're not with me, so change that.

Phyllis: We burnt it down to the ground, billy.

Victoria: You've been my everything lately.

Billy: But...

Victoria: I'm sorry, my emotions have been all over the place. I hope I'm not dragging you along on some ride that you don't want to be on. I cannot believe that you told nick, of all people.

Nikki: I didn't have a choice.

Victoria: Of course you had a choice! You could have lied!

Lily: You say that we're in this together, but I don't feel like we're on the same side.

Lily: Cane, I need your support.

Cane: Hey.

Charlie: Hey.

Cane: Hey, I'm sorry I left you guys on your own yesterday. Is, uh, everything okay?

Charlie: Yeah. We ordered pizza, and sam and i stayed up all night and played video games.

Mattie: Don't listen to him. I made dinner, and charlie read sam a book and put him to bed.

Cane: Well, I appreciate you guys pitching in.

Mattie: Yeah, um, how did your visit with mom go?

Cane: Uh, it was good. Um, she said to tell you that she misses you.

Charlie: Did you, um, tell her about the accident reed and I got into, or...?

Cane: No, I didn't, man. I think some things we should talk about when she gets home.

Mattie: Did you give her my college essay?

Cane: Um, no, because she wants to, uh, wait and have you read it to her.

Mattie: That's weird. She's usually really anxious to look at my work.

Cane: Yeah, yeah, she is. It's just, um...

Mattie: What? What's going on?

Cane: You know, well, she thought that, you know, writing letters and reading your papers would help, but, you know, it doesn't really make up for seeing your faces and hearing your voices.

Mattie: No, it's more than that. I can tell.

Charlie: Whoa. Mattie, chill.

Mattie: No, there's something dad's not telling us.

Victoria: If you're here to see the kids, they already left.

Billy: Yeah, no, I -- I came here to see you.

Victoria: Oh. For a specific reason?

Billy: Well, yeah. I've just been thinking.

Victoria: About?

Billy: You, me. Us. Everything that we've been through. You know, it's been almost three years since my hit-and-run accident.

Victoria: We almost lost you.

Billy: Yeah, I was remembering those dreams or visions or whatever they were, about -- about delia.

Victoria: I remember that. I remember how much they deeply affected you.

Billy: At first, I thought maybe she came to punch my ticket to the other side. Then I quickly realized that she was actually there to kick my butt and remind me what I had to live for.

Victoria: She never pulled any punches.

Billy: She said I had to get well for johnny and katie and you. And that I had to stay where i was and fix things with you.

Victoria: I remember how relieved I was when you opened your eyes.

Billy: Do you remember what you said?

Victoria: Yeah. I asked you to move back here. Come home. Is that what you came here to talk to me about?

Phyllis: I came to talk to you about nick.

Nikki: What about him?

Phyllis: Something's up. It started after he dropped you at home. From J.T.'S memorial.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] He's worried about me.

Phyllis: And victor.

Nikki: Victor's his father. He's worried about him, too.

Phyllis: They haven't spoken 10 civil words in the last 6 months. And now he's victor's number-one supporter.

Nikki: Oh, that's just the way they are -- they fight and make up, fight and make up. It's been going on for years.

Phyllis: I don't buy it. I think you said something to nick.

Nikki: I merely reminded him of the man his father is.

Phyllis: Oh, cut the crap. I can tell by the way he's talking, he knows that victor did not kill J.T.

Nikki: Well, maybe you're just upset that you couldn't convince him that victor killed J.T.

Phyllis: That's fine. If you're not gonna tell me what you told nick, I'll get it out of him.

Nikki: Drop it, phyllis.

Phyllis: Not till I get the truth.

Nikki: Fine. I told nicholas that I killed J.T.

Billy: Did you think I wasn't listening when you said that you didn't want to rush things?

Victoria: Well, you've been known to ignore my requests in the past.

Billy: No, this is the new and improved billy. I am responsible, I listen. I am sensitive to your needs.

Victoria: Mm-hmm. Mm, still shows up without calling.

Billy: I will work on that.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I'm sorry if I got the wrong idea about delia and her advice to you. I just thought that you were leading somewhere.

Billy: Well, I was. I just -- I want to make sure you know that her words mean a lot to me, and I took them to heart, and i do now more than ever, okay? And I know that I have a lot to fix with you.

Victoria: We've both made mistakes.

Billy: Yeah. I'm not gonna lie, I think about us, you know, as a family again, but I -- I understand that you need time before any of that can happen.

Victoria: Well, I, um... I appreciate you understanding.

Billy: Good, because I want to get it right. And I'm gonna do everything i can to make sure that I don't screw it up again.

Victoria: Mm, a very noble endeavor.

Billy: Good. So, maybe we can start with a nice, casual, no-pressure lunch? How does that sound?

Victoria: I would love to.

Fen: Oh, my god. This -- this is my new song.

Sharon: Mm. Yeah.

Fen: That is -- that is so cool of you to play it, thank you.

Sharon: Don't thank me.

Fen: Oh. My mom put you up to it, didn't she? Yeah, that's not embarrassing at all.

Sharon: Your mom didn't ask me to play your song.

Fen: She didn't?

Sharon: It's a playlist I get online. They update it with new music all the time.

Fen: Wait, uh... seriously?

Sharon: Well, I got to stay current if I want the hipster crowd to show up.

Fen: [ Laughs ] I -- I can't believe this is happening. This is unreal. I -- my music career is actually taking off.

Sharon: I hope you have more luck than, um...

Fen: Than who? Thank you.

Sharon: Um... I shouldn't have said anything.

Fen: No, no, come on. Obviously you know someone whose singing career crashed and burned.

Sharon: Her situation was different than yours.

Fen: Whose?

Sharon: Tessa.

Fen: Uh, what happened?

Sharon: She had a contract with devon's company, and she got dropped form the label. Now she can't find work.

Fen: That sucks.

Sharon: I didn't mean to put a damper on your excitement.

Fen: No! No. No, no. Not at all. It's more like, um... it's more like a reality check. You know, it looks like I won't be quitting my day job anytime soon.

Neil: [ Laughs ] It's so good to see you.

Ana: You too! I missed everyone in genoa city. I can't wait to see lily.

Devon: How's she doing?

Neil: Well, you know, it's hard for her being away from the family, but she's hanging in there.

Devon: Yeah. I'm sure it helped a lot, having you close by, though.

Neil: Yeah, I hope so. So, what's going on here?

Devon: What's going on here? Well, you know how we recorded fen baldwin's first single?

Neil: Yeah, yeah, yeah. How'd that go?

Devon: Let me play it for you. I'll tell you how it went. We, uh -- we rush-released it.

Neil: Nice.

Devon: And the response so far has been very, very promising.

Neil: Okay.

Devon: It's been shared, streamed, and downloaded.

Neil: I like that.

Devon: Here it is.

Neil: Yeah.

Devon: Right?

Neil: Hey! I like that.

Devon: Right?

Neil: Fen's good, he's smooth. But you know what I'm really diggin'?

Devon: Huh?

Neil: The song itself. Who wrote it?

Devon: Uh... I don't know.

[ Clears throat ]

Neil: What do you mean, you don't know? You don't know who wrote the new release?

Devon: No, I don'T. The guy wants to keep his identity a secret, be the next banksy of music. Thinks it makes him cool.

Neil: You do know that could be a problem.

To most, he's

Devon: So, the songwriter is a friend of ana's, and she's the only one who's been in contact with him.

Neil: So you know him well?

Ana: Oh, we hung out in college, kept it touch after. I like going to clubs, listening to music. So does he.

Neil: Uh-huh, so y'all are close.

Ana: We share a love of music.

Neil: But you can't convince him to sign a contract with lp?

Devon: He won't even let her tell us his name.

Neil: Well, I -- I don't understand. Why all the secrecy?

Ana: He wants to keep a low profile. Hates the spotlight and the whole "celebrity" thing.

Neil: It must be for a reason. I mean, was he burned by a producer or a recording company?

Ana: I get the feeling it's personal. I don't want to push him.

Neil: What if we did? What if we told him that we can't move forward unless he tells us who he is?

Ana: He'll walk.

Neil: And pass up this huge opportunity?

Ana: This isn't about money or fame to him.

Neil: Okay, yo, you know how I do business. I don't like this.

Devon: I know, I don't like it, either, but I'm afraid if we do push him, we're gonna lose him, and he's too good to let that happen.

Neil: Yeah, well, if we keep getting songs like, uh, the one I just heard, as sweet as it is...

Devon: Right?

Neil: Risk will pay off.

Devon: I agree. So I think we can move forward without a contract.

Neil: For now.

Devon: Yeah. Exactly.

Neil: Okay, um, how's everything else in your life?

Devon: Everything else is really good, actually, thanks to this one right here and to good ol' nate.

Neil: Yeah. I knew I could count on you.

Devon: Thank you, by the way, for bringing ana back to town.

Neil: Well, with lily and me gone, you know, I figured you could use some family around.

Devon: Yeah, she's been -- she's been helping me get my head on straight, and I'm seeing a therapist now, I'm sleeping regularly, and I'm doing everything I have to do to get my life back on track.

Neil: Yeah? Glad to hear it.

Devon: Yeah. So my work life is good, my personal life is good. That means you don't have to worry about me anymore.

Neil: Okay, don't go gettin' crazy on me, man. You know it's a father's job to worry about his kids.

Devon: I understand that, but you need to focus on lily because that's who really needs you.

Neil: You know, now that lily is settled in the new prison, I'm gonna be spending my time between lakewood and genoa city.

Devon: Well, good. That's great. I always love having you here, but just make sure you're not abandoning her because you're worried about me.

Neil: Hey, hey, hey. It's all good.

Devon: Okay.

[ Cellphone rings ] Excuse me, one second. This is work calling.

Neil: Go ahead.

Devon: All right. This is devon. What's up? Are you serious?

Charlie: Dad drove 8 hours yesterday. He doesn't need you giving him crap why mom didn't read your stupid paper.

Cane: Guys, guys.

Mattie: Shut up, charlie. Nobody asked you!

Charlie: Okay, well, I'm telling you --

Mattie: I'm telling you, dad's hiding something!

Cane: Stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it! Your mother doesn't want you arguing like this, stop it!

Mattie: Well, if you'd just tell us the truth.

Cane: I'm not lying to you, okay? I just haven't told you everything, all right? There's some things that just need to stay private between your mum and I, all right?

Charlie: Personal stuff.

Cane: Right.

Charlie: About your relationship. I get it. Especially after what shauna and I went through, I mean, i understand how tough long-distance relationships are.

Cane: Yeah. Yeah, they are.

Charlie: I'm just glad you and mom figured out a way to work out yours.

Cane: Yeah.

Victoria: Is everything okay? I got your text.

Sharon: I thought we called a moratorium on these charity meetings.

Phyllis: That was before nikki decided to change the rules of the game.

Victoria: If this about her standing up for dad...

Phyllis: This about her not being able to keep her mouth shut.

Victoria: [ Scoffs ] That's really good, coming from you.

Phyllis: What I did does not compare to nikki telling your brother that she killed J.T.

Sharon: What?

Phyllis: So much for all of us being in this together.

Nikki: We stopped being on the same team when you started to promote the lie that victor killed J.T.

Sharon: Nick knows? Everything?

Victoria: Only that mom and i were involved in J.T.'S death. She never said a word about you or phyllis.

Phyllis: I should have known you knew.

Victoria: Well, mom confided in me yesterday.

Phyllis: Yeah, it's typical newmans. You circle the wagons and the hell with the rest of us.

Nikki: Victoria just told you, I never mentioned you or sharon.

Victoria: Mom told nick that J.T. Was attacking me and that she was only trying to protect me.

Sharon: He must have asked why you didn't go to the police. What did you tell him?

Nikki: I told him that victoria and I were worried that the police wouldn't believe us, so we took J.T. To the park and buried him.

Sharon: Why? After we worked so hard to cover everything up. Why tell nick now?

Nikki: Because the murder weapon showed up in my house!

Sharon: [ Gasps ] Oh, my god!

Phyllis: What? What are you talking about? How would that happen?

Nikki: I don't know. But it was sitting in front of the fireplace when nicholas brought me home the other night.

Victoria: Mom was terrified.

Nikki: [ Scoffs ] I was more than terrified, and nicholas could see that something was very wrong, so I just -- I had to tell him the truth.

Phyllis: You picked a hell of a time to be honest.

Nikki: I didn't have a choice.

Phyllis: There's always a choice. And you just made the wrong one. Now, the question is -- what do we do now? - [Narrator] This is the moisturizer

Fen: Hey! Sorry it took me so long to get here. I had to find someone at the club to cover my shift.

Devon: Oh, uh, I don't think you're gonna have to be worrying about that for too much longer, fen.

Fen: Are you -- are you firing me?

Devon: No, I'm not firing you. I just -- I don't think you're gonna have to supplement your income by waiting tables.

Fen: Why not?

Devon: So, the streaming numbers for your first song have come back.

Ana: And?

Devon: And they are beyond better than what we projected.

Ana: [ Laughs ]

Devon: It's actually trending in certain territories.

Ana: Shut up!

Devon: No joke. No joke.

Fen: Oh, my god. This is -- oh, my god! This is incredible!

Devon: Hey, hey, hey!

Ana: [ Laughs ]

Fen: I can't believe this. Um...

Neil: Ah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Fen: Thank you.

Neil: Congrats.

Fen: Thanks.

Ana: This calls for a celebration!

Devon: Yeah, absolutely. There's champagne in the bar fridge, if you guys want.

Ana: [ Giggles ]

Neil: Hey. Come here.

Devon: Yo.

Neil: Um... you know this is, uh -- this is great news.

Devon: But?

Neil: I don't want you to forget what happened with tessa's song. We thought it was gonna be number one with a bullet.

Devon: I know, and then we found out that she stole the lyrics from mariah.

Neil: Mm-hmm. Just remember -- keep everything on the up-and-up with this mystery songwriter. Wouldn't want another fiasco like that.

Devon: Neither would I, trust me. But ana says she knows the guy and that he's legit, so I trust her.

Neil: Okay, look, I know how much creative juice you put into this song. I wouldn't want it all to be for nothing.

Devon: I appreciate that, but it's all good, trust me.

Phyllis: Are you sure it is the same one?

Sharon: What do you think?

Victoria: It could be a copy.

Sharon: But it's identical to yours?

Victoria: Yes.

Sharon: I thought you threw it in the lake.

Phyllis: I did.

Sharon: Then how did it end up here?

Phyllis: I don't know, sharon, maybe by magic.

Victoria: Look, it could be easy enough for someone to find one that looked like mine.

Phyllis: It doesn't matter if it's the same one that nikki hit J.T. With or if it's a copy. Someone knows it was used to kill him.

Nikki: Maybe it was tessa. Or mariah.

Sharon: Tessa only knows that J.T. Was killed in victoria's house. She doesn't how he was killed.

Phyllis: Mariah knows. She could have told her.

Sharon: Mariah wouldn't do that.

Phyllis: We don't know that.

Sharon: Well, I know that. You know what I think happened? You screwed up. Someone saw you get rid of that poker.

Phyllis: Oh, that's bull.

Sharon: It's not bull, not if it's true.

Phyllis: Well, it's not.

Victoria: Okay. Stop! Please. Whoever did this -- the poker, the shirt, the gun at the stables, J.T.'S bloody clothes showing up in my mom's bed -- they're trying to rattle us.

Nikki: Or to get us to turn on each other.

Phyllis: Except it's not just us anymore.

Nikki: Nicholas is not gonna tell anybody.

Phyllis: No, you know what he's gonna do? He's gonna lead the charge to prove that victor is innocent. He's gonna shout it from the rooftops in spite of all the evidence. He is positive that someone else killed J.T.

Nikki: Well, so what? People will just think he's defending his father.

Phyllis: People might, but the police are gonna start wondering what he knows. I can't even talk to him without tipping him off that I'm involved with this. It's bad enough trying to keep as secret like this. He now has to keep what he knows from me. It's fantastic for the relationship.

Victoria: You're getting worked up for absolutely no reason, phyllis. You're in a rebound relationship. Everybody knows those never work out anyway.

Phyllis: You know, I think you're confusing us with you and billy.

Victoria: Even if billy and i do get back together, at least it won't be because we were dumped for cheating with each other.

Phyllis: Nick and I are solid.

Victoria: Oh, really? Are you sure about that? I wouldn't be, especially after that little stunt that you pulled at J.T.'S memorial.

Phyllis: I told reed that his dad was abusing you because i was afraid nikki was gonna tell everyone that we were involved in killing J.T. Reasonable fear, it turns out.

Nikki: You know what, I'm glad I told nicholas because now he can help victoria and me with this new development.

Sharon: How?

Victoria: I'm not sure yet, but, um, you and phyllis don't have to worry about that. I've got to get going.

Nikki: I'll walk you out.

Phyllis: Well, I don't know about you, but... that doesn't work for me. Your insurance rates skyrocket after a scratch so small

Phyllis: It's not really a trick question. Are you willing to let victoria and nikki tell you what to do?

Sharon: It's not like we have a choice.

Phyllis: Well, nikki really hasn't given us one.

Nikki: This isn't the mob, phyllis.

Phyllis: Did I not warn you that this how things work? The newmans stick together, the hell with the rest of us.

Sharon: I don't think that's what nikki and victoria are doing.

Phyllis: Okay, so what are they teaching you in these psych classes? Because they're hanging us out to dry. While driving a wedge between nick and me.

Sharon: We learned about paranoia.

Nikki: [ Scoffs ] You don't need us to drive a wedge between you and nicholas. You're doing it all by yourself.

Phyllis: Do you see what's happening? Now that victor has been charged with murder, she is backing out of the pact we had to protect one another.

Sharon: Nikki wouldn't do that.

Phyllis: Dr. Clueless better be right here. Because, I'll tell you something, no matter what happens, I'm not going down for this.

Nikki: You're not buying any of that nonsense, are you?

Sharon: She's not the one who broke our agreement. And, like I said, I have to rust you. For now.

Fen: You know, your dad seemed pretty stressed out.

Devon: No, he just likes to make sure that all the I's are dotted and t's are crossed, that's all.

Ana: That's not how it works anymore. Iron-clad contracts? Artists have more power than they used to. They want to be free to do their own thing.

Devon: I know all of that, and I explained that to him and told him that this songwriter is worth taking the risk on because I want him to write fen's entire album.

Fen: Sweet.

Devon: Yeah.

Ana: That may be a problem.

Devon: Why would that be a problem?

Fen: Yeah, why -- why would that be a problem?

Ana: My friend says no more songs until he gets paid for the first one.

Devon: Fen's song has only been out for a few days. How are we gonna know what to pay him? The figures are promising, but that doesn't translate to money right now. And even when we do start making money, we have to recoup our costs before anybody makes a profit.

Ana: You could do an advance against projected earnings. It's not unheard of.

Devon: No, not for proven artists.

Ana: Do you want this guy or not, devon?

Devon: What do you mean, do I want him or not? Are you his agent?

Ana: I'm just looking out for his interest, and yours. This songwriter's gonna be hot. Either you want a piece of the action, or you don'T.

Devon: Okay, well, of course I do. Uh, what if we do a buy-out, and we own the song outright? He forfeits any future profits.

Ana: I think that'll work.

Devon: Sweet.

Fen: What? No! That -- that's stupid! I mean, why would your friend do something like that? Won't he make way less money that way?

Devon: I mean, probably, but that's his call. And at least he'll make something, whether the song's a hit or not.

Ana: You're right. It is his call, and my friend told me he wants his money now. And to get it to him however i could.

Devon: Is your friend in some kind of trouble, or something?

Ana: No. Nothing like that. He just wants to be paid.

Devon: Okay. Well, great. In that case, I will draw up the paperwork and get it to him in a couple days.

Ana: My friend will be very happy to hear that.

Neil: Good to see you again.

Cane: Hey. You too, man.

[ Sighs ] I didn't know you were back in town.

Neil: Yeah, I wanted to see how everybody was doing, you know?

Cane: Well, I'm glad you did, man because the kids miss you.

Neil: I miss them, too.

Cane: Yeah.

Neil: How are they?

Cane: They're good. Busy, but they're good. Charlie's in the middle of basketball season, mattie's working on the high school yearbook.

Neil: Yeah.

Cane: Yeah.

Neil: Yeah, I heard. So, what about -- what about sam?

Cane: Sam's, uh, good. You know, he's getting big. He was crawling, now he's walking. You know, it goes by in the blink of an eye.

Neil: Who you telling? It goes by fast.

Cane: [ Sighs ] Too fast. I know it's killing lily she's missing so much, you know?

Neil: Hey, I, uh -- I spoke to lily after your last visit. She said things didn't go so well.

Cane: Yeah. Yeah, it -- that was my fault. You know? I miss her so much. I kind of went up there with unrealistic expectations, and it was, like, tough on her.

Neil: I understand. She knows how difficult it is for you, too.

Cane: Yeah, yeah, but she's the one, you know, who's locked up in prison away from her family, and I should just -- I should be more understanding. You know?

Neil: Cane. I don't know what happened, but you're entitled to your feelings, too, man.

Cane: I really appreciate you saying that, neil. Thank you.

Neil: Yeah, it's the reason why I wanted to meet with you, actually. I just want you to know I'm here to help you, you know, while you and lily are separated, even if it's just listening, I'm here. Hey. Cane.

Cane: Yeah?

Neil: You okay?

Cane: Yeah, man, I'm cool. Yeah.

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

Nikki: It's bad enough I have to deal with phyllis. Now you're threatening me?

Sharon: I'm just keeping my options open. Look, you told nick that you murdered J.T. Without consulting any of us first. Why shouldn't I reserve the right to protect myself?

Nikki: Because if we don't stick together, the police are going to find out exactly what happened to J.T.

Sharon: Then why did you involve nick in this at all?

Nikki: If I hadn't had told him the truth, he would have kept digging and digging until he learned everything. I was trying to protect you and phyllis.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] I know. Okay, I'm sorry.

[ Sighs ] You know, just the four of us keeping this secret, it's really starting to wear on me.

Nikki: Yeah, and I was really starting to enjoy our little get-togethers here.

Sharon: Must be unnerving, knowing that the person who's taunting us can get onto the property.

Nikki: Nicholas made sure that there's always somebody home with me, and he doubled security.

Sharon: Sounds like victor.

Nikki: He was very much his father that day when he found out how terrified I was.

Sharon: I'm glad you feel safe.

Nikki: Yeah, well, if all else fails, I have my gun.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] You could always come and stay at my house.

Nikki: Thanks for the offer, but I really need to be in my own house. It's the best chance I have of finding out whoever is tormenting us, of catching them in the act.

Cane: You know, things haven't been easy for me and lily since she went to prison, but lately, it's, uh...

Neil: Lately what? Go ahead. Get it said.

Cane: Last week, she sent me this letter, and she said it's easy for her now to express her feelings in writing.

Neil: Yeah, I can understand that. Not a whole lot of privacy when she's on the phone.

Cane: That's what she said. You know, but she also said some other things.

Neil: Like what?

Cane: Well, that I don't see face to face enough, so I drop everything, and I go up and i see her, and...

Neil: Good for you. I'm sure she appreciates that.

Cane: Eh, I'm not so sure about that. You know, all she wanted to do, pretty much, was talk about this job she had, and then she cuts our visit short. She has to go and teach her first class.

Neil: Hey. You got to know how important this position is to her.

Cane: I do. It's just -- it feels like her prison life is becoming more important than her life for the kids and me, you know?

Neil: Oh, come on, man. That's absolutely crazy. She's just trying to survive.

Cane: Okay, but how am i supposed to reach when she says that "she feels like she's losing who she was." What am I meant to do?

Neil: You help remember. You're the one who said it yourself, man. I mean, come on. She's lost everything, right?

Cane: Yeah, you're right. I'm being selfish, aren't I?

Neil: Hey. I know you're doing the best job you can to hold this family together, but you've got to be prepared to support lily, whoever she is, when she gets out of prison. Now, are you gonna be able to do that?

Cane: Of course. You know, lily and the kids are everything to me.

Billy: So, have you talked to reed since he got back to school?

Victoria: He seems to be getting back to his normal life. I think it's gonna take him a little while to process learning about J.T.'S abuse, but.. I helped him. At least I hope I did.

Billy: You're an amazing mom, and reed is lucky that you're his.

Victoria: I couldn't have heped him put the pieces of his life back together without you.

Billy: I do have an experience with that. Usually, after I've blown up my own life.

Victoria: I just wish that i could erase this whole past year and start fresh.

Billy: Well, to new beginnings. For both of us.

Phyllis: How sweet is this.

Billy: What do you want, phyllis?

Victoria: I'm sure whatever it is can wait till after we're done with lunch.

Phyllis: Oh! Because whatever you and billy are discussing is more important than anything else?

Billy: You know what, let's just deal with this, okay? You're upset with phyllis because she told reed about J.T.'S abuse, and rightfully so.

Phyllis: I thought i explained to you that I was trying to help.

Victoria: You two discussed this?

Phyllis: Yeah. We did discuss this. I'm surprised that you didn't tell her about our talk. I guess you're not as close as i thought.

Victoria: Maybe you should focus on your relationship with nick.

Phyllis: Nick and I are solid. Isn't that right, billy? Isn't that what I told you when you wanted us to get back together?

Victoria: What?

Phyllis: Yeah. Right before he went to get back together with you. But don't worry -- don't worry, I turned him down flat. He's all yours. Bye. Have a beautiful lunch. A migraine hope

Billy: Phyllis is just trying to stir up trouble.

Victoria: Is it true?

Billy: Vick, you're the only one that I want to be with.

Victoria: It's a simple question, billy. Did you ask phyllis to get back together?

Billy: Yes, but, listen, it's -- no, vick, come on, stop.

Victoria: I'm not interested.

Billy: I can explain. Victoria.

Cane: Hey, uh, victoria.

Victoria: The last thing i want is sympathy from you.

Cane: Okay, uh, I wasn't gonna give you any sympathy.

Victoria: What do you want?

Cane: Um, I think I left my scarf at your house. I was just wondering if you'd seen it. That's all.

Victoria: Yeah, actually, i did see one. I was wondering who that belonged to.

Cane: That's great. Well, uh, when's a good time for me to come by and pick it up?

Victoria: I'm headed home now.

Cane: Okay. All right. Well, I'll take care of the check, and I'll follow you, okay?

Victoria: Fine.

Cane: Okay.

Billy: What the hell was that all about?

Phyllis: I thought full disclosure was your thing.

Billy: Oh, I get it. You're jealous.

Ana: I can't stay long. I have to get to work.

Fen: Okay, then I'll get right to it. Why are you in such a hurry to get paid for your song?

Ana: Do you know how much i make as devon's assistant?

Fen: You live rent-free, you have no student debt. If you were in any financial trouble, I know that your billionaire brother would bail you out, so... you know, what gives?

Ana: I have my reasons, okay?

Fen: Reasons that you are not going to share with me.

Ana: They're personal.

Fen: Well... look, I thought I was your friend.

Ana: You are my friend.

Fen: Then just talk to me.

Ana: I need you to trust me.

Fen: Okay. But I -- I don't understand why it's so important to keep this secret. And, eventually, you're gonna have to tell devon that you wrote this song.

Ana: Yeah. Eventually.

Devon: Hey, michael, it's devon. How you doin', man? I'm good. I'm actually just calling because I need you to do some research for me. Can you, uh, find out the name of the person who set up an llc? It's the guy who wrote finn's song.

Victoria: Hannah must have put it somewhere. Ow! Damn it.

Cane: You okay?

Victoria: Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry.

Cane: Looks like your finger got the worst of that. I mean, well, your finger, and billy.

Victoria: Billy deserved it.

Cane: Yeah. Yeah, you were pretty upset with him at the club. So, uh, what did he do now?

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Cane: I'm sorry, it's none of my business.

Victoria: No. No, no, no.

Cane: No, no, no, it's not my business.

Victoria: No, it's fine.

[ Sighs ] In typical billy fashion, he has... managed to sabotage his chance for happiness.

Cane: Oh.

Victoria: Things were going really well between us. He's been there for me and the kids through all the stuff with my mom and reed and my dad being in jail, and I just realized what A...

[ Sighs ] An amazing dad and husband he could be, and... and that, you know, that we were a great family, and I thought that maybe we would have a chance to -- to try again, and then I found out that...

Cane: What? What'd you find out?

Victoria: Billy only turned to me because phyllis turned him down.

Cane: Okay.

Victoria: Okay. Do you have any anti-billy comebacks?

Cane: No. Hey, I'm in no position to judge, you know? With all the problems I've got with...

[ Chuckles ] Don't worry about it.

Victoria: No, come on. I gave you all of my ugly details. I saw you with neil earlier.

Cane: Neil asked me to confide in him, and then the moment I opened up by telling him how difficult it is for me to deal with lily being in prison, he just -- look, I know he's concerned about his daughter, okay? It's just sometimes... you just feel like you're out here by yourself. You know what I mean?

Victoria: I do know what you mean.

Cane: Anyway.

Victoria: Oh! Ha!

Cane: [ Laughs ]

Victoria: Here it is.

Cane: There it is. Well, uh, thank you.

Victoria: Sure.

Cane: Okay. All right, well, uh... see you later, okay?

Victoria: Cane, wait.

Billy: You just can't help yourself. You see two people happy, and you have to blow it up. Even if one of them is you.

Phyllis: I think I did victoria a favor. I mean, everything that she's been through with J.T., She should know where your head is. Where your heart is.

Billy: Your concern is touching, phyllis.

Phyllis: I don't think she should have false expectations. That's an easy trap to fall into with you.

Billy: God, I can't believe i didn't see the real you.

Phyllis: You knew exactly who I was.

Billy: No. I didn'T. I do now. It's very, very clear to me. You know what I see? That I hurt jack for absolutely no reason.

Phyllis: If that's how you feel, then why did you want to get back together with me?

Billy: One of those bad impulses that I'm working on not giving into. Trust me, it'll never happen again. Because I've realized that victoria was, is, and always will be the love of my life.

Victoria: It's not easy trying to do your job and take care of your kids and keep your family together.

Cane: Yeah, well, at least i have mattie and charlie.

Victoria: Yeah, but, ultimately, everything's on you.

Cane: Nobody cares how you get it done.

Victoria: Or about your emotional needs.

Cane: You start to think they never will.

Victoria: You wonder how long you can go on giving so much.

Cane: Getting so little back.

Victoria: Nothing, some days.

Cane: It's most days, isn't it?

Victoria: It makes you just want to say... to hell with it.

[ Thud ]

Nikki: Hello?

[ Thud ] Is someone there? Who's there?
