Episode #11467 ~ Billy returns home to chaos, Victoria choses sides, and Abby demands answers from Ashley.

Provided By Suzanne

Previously on "the young and the restless"...

Victoria: The blackmailer wants $250,000.

Phyllis: Now what?

Nikki: We either pay it or risk being exposed.

Traci: Everyone is as worried as I was when ashley told me you were gambling again.

Billy: Ashley?

Jack: All I am looking for is a commitment on your part that you will keep your promise and get the help you need and treatment.

Kyle: Dina said over and over again john abbott wasn't dad's father.

Jack: You and this guy faked the paternity tests?

Ashley: You didn't think i had it in me, did you?

Jack: You have disgraced yourself and everything our father stood for -- his work, his legacy, everything he cared about!

Ashley: Aaaaaaah! Aah!

Ted: Whoa. Dude, what the heck?

Jack: You picked the perfect day to take a long lunch.

Ted: Looks like the russo brothers were in here filming a fight scene. Who did this?

Jack: I did.

Ted: You...picked up a chair, chucked it through the window?

Jack: She's lucky I didn't chuck it at her head.

Ted: "She" who? What's this about? Or don't I want to know?

Abby: Finally.

Traci: Abby and I need to talk to you.

Abby: We have some questions.

Ashley: I'm sure you do, but could it please wait?

Abby: We've been waiting.

Ashley: Just a little breathing room, please? Jack and I got into it, and he was out of control.

Traci: Well, my god. Can you blame him, considering what he just learned?

Abby: You turned your brother's life upside down just to get back at home.

Ashley: I understand that he would be angry, okay? But it was a lot for me to deal with, as well.

Traci: A lot for you?

Ashley: Traci, enough. I'm sure jack is following me here shortly for round 2. I just need a minute, please, so I can process everything that's happened.

Traci: No, you wait right here. Abby and I deserve some answers, and we are going to get them.

Tessa: And now my latest creation, the moment we've been waiting for -- the café cubano.

Arturo: Wow. Thanks. Looks amazing.

Tessa: Well, aren't you gonna taste it?

Lola: Hey. What's happening?

Arturo: Hey. Um... just taking a break. How 'bout yourself?

Lola: Same.

Tessa: Would you like a café cubano?

Lola: I didn't know you had those.

Tessa: Well, I learned how to make them for rey. He said that he missed them since he left miami. See? Here's my first one! What do you think, arturo?

Arturo: It's very good.

Tessa: Yay!

Lola: That's not café cubano. Why didn't you say something?

Arturo: Uh, tessa was trying to be thoughtful, lola.

Tessa: Oh, I don't get it. I-I looked at the recipe online. It said it was an espresso with cream on top.

Lola: Crema.

Tessa: But "crema" is "cream."

Lola: Well, it's called "crema" because it looks like cream, but it's actually whipped sugar with a bit of -- it's easier if I show you. Come on.

Victoria: Oh. They have that lobster salad that you like.

Sharon: How dare you two just walk out on me like that?

Nikki: What? Did you follow us here?

Sharon: Don't patronize me. You knew that I would have something to say on the matter, but god forbid you listen to my opinion. You know, last I checked, we were still dealing with this as a group.

Victoria: Sharon.

Sharon: What, relax? Tell myself that it's going to be okay? I would love to do that, but right now I'm upset, and for a very good reason.

Victoria: Why? Because mom and phyllis and I agree that we can't cave in to blackmail? Look, I know that we were all thrown into this mess of a situation and we've been forced to work together as a team, but, in a sense, we took a vote on the matter -- 3-2. I say that's very fair and decisive.

Sharon: Well, I'm asking you to reconsider or at least take some more time, think about it.

Victoria: No, sharon. It's all I do. It's all I can do. I would love to not think about it.

Sharon: Then how did you possibly come to the conclusion that it would be smart to ignore this person?

Victoria: It's the next logical step.

Sharon: Which could backfire on us easily.

Nikki: Sharon, we have been over this. A demand for a quarter of a million dollars without a shred of evidence --

Victoria: Phyllis had a very valid point.

Sharon: And mine was completely ignored.

Victoria: It would be very foolish to just hand it over.

Sharon: And what could possibly go wrong by trusting phyllis?

Nikki: All right. You have a reason to be upset with her.

Victoria: And to want to strangle her.

Sharon: Don't you two get it? What phyllis did with nick is the best proof yet of her horrendous judgment. The woman takes impulsive and stupid risks, and she doesn't give a damn who gets hurt. She blew up her relationship with billy. Right now she and summer are barely talking, and phyllis is living in a hotel room out of a suitcase. She's got nothing to lose. I wouldn't put it past her to leave the three of us to take the fall.

Victoria: I don't think phyllis would do something like that.

Sharon: Do you feel confident enough about that to bet your future on it? Because that's exactly what you're doing.

Arturo: [ Sighs ]

[ Chuckles ] Mmm.

Lola: So...how is it?

Arturo: That is perfect.

Tessa: [ Sighs ] Well, good thing sharon wasn't here to see you make that. She might be handing you my job.

Lola: No worries. You're safe. I'm happy running my own business.

Tessa: I have got to try your food sometime. Kyle raves about it.

Arturo: You know kyle?

Tessa: Yeah, I do.

Arturo: You know, I really want to get to know this guy a little more. Like, what are his hobbies, for instance? What does he do for fun? Anything illegal? Hmm?

Lola: Ignore my brother. That wasn't funny.

Arturo: Oh, come on. I thought it was.

Lola: If you want to be obnoxious and get a rise out of me, that's one thing, okay? Make fun of me -- what a slob i am, how hopeless I am at replacing an alternator. But kyle deserves a chance to explain his arrest in his own way, and before he gets that chance, you shouldn't be going around saying things about him that can cause rumors.

A with a grave? I mean, that is, like, so twisted.

Lola: There are plenty of things abby's gonna find out about you that you're gonna need to explain one day. You might want to rethink that before you go around judging other people.

Arturo: [ Sighs ]

Ted: Sounds like ashley really made you upset.

Jack: Yeah, you could say that.

Ted: Anything I can do?

Jack: [ Inhales deeply ] Yeah. Find an empty office. Get yourself set up. Call maintenance. Have them come and clean all this up. And then call the athletic club and set up a meeting room. I want to reconvene the board. We have some unfinished business to attend to.

Abby: You know, I-if someone had accused you of doing what you did, I never would have believed them. Conspiring against jack... making him believe that he's not john's son, watching him for months search for his real father, never saying a word every time he came up empty? And even though you've admitted it, I still don't believe it's possible!

Ashley: Honey, I told you why I did it.

Abby: Oh, please. Stop trying to claim once again that you did it for my sake.

[ Voice breaking ] I never, no way in hell, would have wanted to hurt jack that way!

Traci: And that's pretty much the part that blows my mind, too. You had to know how much it would devastate him, especially since you've been through something similar.

Ashley: Of course I knew.

Abby: [ Sighs ] He had a meltdown! He -- he quit jabot! He moved out of the house, feeling like he didn't belong anymore!

Traci: And what's worse, he drove up to the cabin, he called an old dealer, he bought a bunch of pills. It's only by the grace of god he didn't take them. If he had started down that path again... it would all be on you.

Ashley: Nobody was more relieved than I was when jack stopped his downward spiral. But, still, I'm not responsible for jack's choices.

Abby: Well, what about your own? What position or title could ever be worth lowering yourself that way?

Ashley: You know, it's interesting. I don't remember either one of you confronting jack like this when he used the company by-laws against me.

Traci: Oh, ashley, I know you keep trying to draw that parallel, but you don't --

Ashley: Because -- because he took my deepest wound, he stuck a knife in it, and he twisted it because it was important to jack that I think that my place in this family is far lower than his. You knew that. You knew it was wrong. You told me so, and you never confronted jack about it.

Traci: Ashley, that's not --

Ashley: I believe that your reasoning at the time was that you didn't want to divide the family, right? So... you let it go to keep the peace, and you just assumed that i would do the same thing, like i had a thousand times before. You assumed wrong.

Nikki: Sharon, I know it's tough for you to be around phyllis after she slept with your fiancé. But we need to keep emotion out of it.

Sharon: Yes. We need to be rational. But the blackmailer doesn'T. He or she obviously enjoys messing with our heads, or they wouldn't be sending these letters.

Victoria: They do seem to like toying with us.

Sharon: What happens if we take away their fun and we refuse to play along? They could fly into a fit, decide to punish us, just for the sheer thrill of it. If I had the money, I would pay them off myself.

Nikki: Well, I know you're not in the position to do that, and neither is phyllis, so that leaves the final decision to victoria and me. We have discussed this at length and decided what the best course of action is.

Victoria: Wait. I'm rethinking this.

Lola: What's this?

Tessa: It's a thank you for teaching me how to make a proper cuban coffee.

Arturo: Lola was actually a barista for a while back in florida.

Tessa: Oh! That explains it!

Lola: Like riding a bike. You never forget.

Tessa: Yeah, well, I'm pretty green, so would you mind giving me a few more pointers?

Lola: Sure.

Tessa: And let me know if you need anyone to cover your shift at the truck. I would be happy to. I'm always looking for an excuse to make more money.

Arturo: That's not gonna happen. Lola's a perfectionist, and so every bite of every sandwich needs to be just so.

Tessa: I get it, you know? I was just throwing it out there. And let me know if you have time for some barista lessons.

Lola: Sounds good.

Arturo: And I volunteer to taste-test your creations.

Tessa: Oh, wow. You're really brave.

Lola: Nah. He just likes the free stuff.

Arturo: Oh, get out of here.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Lola: Ah.

Arturo: I got to go.

Lola: Problem?

Arturo: There seems to be an issue with some of the remodeling my guys did at jabot.

Lola: Well, if you happen to see kyle, run as quickly as you can in the opposite direction.

Arturo: Oh, that's right. Your little boyfriend works there, doesn't he? Maybe I will swing by his office and have a little friendly chat -- see what I can dig up.

Lola: Don't you dare. Arturo!

Arturo: Call me later.

Traci: So, you're saying your actions are my fault and abby's, all because last year we didn't step up and defend you to your liking?

Ashley: No, no. Not at all. I take responsibility for my actions 100%. I thought long and hard how best to channel my feelings.

Abby: How could you think for one moment that what you did was right? Why didn't you just express your feelings directly?

Ashley: [ Sighs ] I have tried the direct approach with your uncle so many times, abby -- a hundred different variations. I've tried compromising, I've tried power-sharing, I've tried negotiating, I've tried out-and-out pleading, and it always turns out the same -- he wins and I lose. He's the force to be reckoned with, and I am the afterthought.

Traci: Ashley, I know for a fact he values every single contribution you make at jabot.

Ashley: God, do you even hear yourself, traci?! Of course he values my "contributions," just so I stay in the lab and act like a good girl and I don't question his decisions! Don't you know that if you're gonna be in jack's world, you have to accept the fact that he's gonna be the ruler of the family empire? And I had to accept the cold, hard truth that my own brother doesn't see me as an equal, nor does he think I'm worthy of his respect!

[ Voice breaking ] But you know what? I saw that that was partly my fault because I never demanded his respect -- until now.

[ Knock on door ]

Kyle: Not too late to take me up on my offer. If ever a man needed a drink...

Jack: Maybe later. Chances are I'll need a drink a lot more later on.

Kyle: How's it feel to be here again... in this office, knowing you're a bona fide abbott?

Jack: I could ask you the same thing.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Feels like we ought to be happier about this, doesn't it?

Jack: I may have gotten my father back. I just lost a sister.

Kyle: I'd say that's a better-than-even trade.

Jack: No. Ashley -- ashley and I have been through a lot together. We were close.

Kyle: Yeah, or so she let you believe.

Jack: No, it's true. And the things she said when we got into it -- maybe she's right. Maybe I do bear some responsibility for what happened.

Kyle: Dad, no. You can't just let her off the hook. We learned two critical things in that meeting -- you and I are both abbotts, through and through, and ashley is a snake.

Billy: What the hell?! I was gone a week.

Jack: Hey. You're supposed to be in rehab. You made a commitment.

Billy: I know. Relax, jack. I'm following protocol.

Kyle: What protocol?

Billy: After a week of intensive residential therapy, I graduated to outpatient.

[ Sighs ] Still technically in rehab, still on the wagon. Now one of you two want to tell me what the hell I missed?

Ashley: I didn't think anybody would have much of an appetite, so I just asked mrs. Martinez to make something light.

Abby: You know, it's amazing... that you can just sit there

[Voice breaking] And act like this is just any other day... like what you did to uncle jack is just business as usual.

Ashley: I guess I shouldn't expect you to understand, honey, 'cause you're just starting your career and you haven't invested your entire life into newman or dark horse like I have with jabot, and... well, you moved away so you wouldn't have to deal with family conflict.

Traci: Ashley... you have taken breaks from the company, too, when things got to be too much.

Ashley: You're right. I have... the last time jack squeezed me out of jabot. Remember that? I went to live with you in new york?

Traci: Of course, and you were doing exactly what you needed to take care of yourself.

Abby: I really wish you had taken a break instead of going after uncle jack.

Ashley: What are you saying -- that I should have just let him undermine me again?

Abby: God! Stop twisting my words!

Ashley: I wasn't gonna give my daughter up, my family, my career, my home to make life easier for jack! God! That's not fair! It's not good for jabot! I am the most qualified person to run that company!

Traci: And no one is disputing that, ashley.

Ashley: Yes!

[ Voice breaking ] You keep telling me how disappointed you are in me! I'm sorry! You're not being supportive of me!

Abby: I voted for you. I voted for you for C.E.O. You remember that? I wasn't suggesting a surrender -- more like a strategic retreat. Live to fight another day!

Ashley: [ Crying ] Honey... that is the entire problem. Do you know how many times I've had this fight with jack? And he always wins, and nobody ever tells jack that he's gone too far! I am so sick of pulling my punches! And that's what you want from me, isn't it? You want me to take the high road again, no matter what it costs me!

Traci: Ashley... taking the mean-spirited, ugly road has already cost you. You've given up your principles, your integrity, and maybe your relationship with your brother, because I don't think jack is ever gonna forgive you for this.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] Yeah. Maybe not. But at least he's learned never to underestimate me again. And I don't care what you think. That feels so good.

Billy: I don't know what to say. What happened to our sister, jack? When did she become so obsessed with running this company that she's willing to ruin people's lives for it?

Jack: I have no idea. I keep going over conversations we had since christmas, trying to figure out how I missed the signs.

Kyle: Don't overlook the one good part in this -- you two are brothers again... biologically and in every other way.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Do we know that for a fact? Do we know that the dna test that she had run wasn't faked?

Jack: Ashley admitted it. It was a point of pride for her.

Kyle: That's what the payments to type a consulting were for. It's a shell company set up to pay off the dna lab tech who altered the results.

Billy: Which is why she took my head off when I cut funding. I wish I would have looked into it further. Maybe you could have unpacked this a little bit sooner. Maybe could have possibly even saved my chair.

Jack: I lost it. I c-- I completely lost it. I didn't think anybody could have this effect on me except victor.

Billy: Well, now that I know the story, I don't think you overreacted. She better hope that I'm as calm as you when I talk to her next.

Jack: No, no, no. No. Hey, I want you to stay out of this.

Billy: Oh, no can do, jack. You weren't her only target. She came after me, too.

Jack: She wanted the job. You were collateral damage.

Billy: Now I can see that there's more to it.

Jack: Like what?

Billy: Well, after group therapy and some private sessions, I realized that my downward spiral with gambling wasn't just by chance. There's a lot more coincidences.

Jack: Such as?

Billy: Every opportunity that fell into my lap, like the professional-level tournaments, the gambling syndicate out of new york -- I was set up, and it had to be ashley.

Jack: But where's your proof?

Billy: Haven't had a lot of control over my schedule-lately -- no cellphone, no internet. But I will get to the bottom of this.-I got ahold of the woman that dangled vegas in front of me. Her story keeps changing. She hasn't admitted it yet, but I'm pretty sure she was on ashley's payroll.

Kyle: And she won'T... 'cause she wasn'T.

Billy: You're still covering for ashley after everything she did to your father?

Kyle: She wasn't the one that set you up.

Billy: Well, somebody did.

Victoria: She's not answering.

Sharon: Good.

Victoria: No, I think that phyllis should have a say if we're changing our mind about what to do.

Sharon: Phyllis already had her say. What she doesn't have is veto power, so if the three of us agree, then it's 3-1 -- decision made.

Nikki: The problem is we don't agree.

Sharon: But --

Nikki: As things stand now, there's a vote for either strategy with victoria wavering.

Victoria: I think that sharon has a very valid point. Whoever's writing these letters is on a power trip. They crave attention. But ignoring them might be the worst thing that we could do.

Nikki: "Might be," "could be," "maybe." We have no idea how this person is going to react because we don't know who is doing this. Could be a sociopath, or it could be somebody who just wants to bleed us dry. It could be either. It could be neither.

Sharon: Which is why I think the best thing to do is pay our way out of this.

Nikki: Unless we end up playing right into a sting operation or some kind of crazy hoax where the person has absolutely no knowledge of what we've done and then they hit the jackpot. No, no. We need more time. We need more information.

Victoria: Two things we unfortunately don't have. And the 24 hours is almost up, so we need to make a decision.

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

Sharon: Who cares what phyllis thinks? Do I need to remind you she was ready to throw you both to the wolves?

Victoria: We've all had moments where we thought we couldn't take it anymore. I came close to confessing. You almost told nick everything. You haven't, have you?

Sharon: Please. We're barely speaking.

Victoria: That's a shame. I know that he was hoping that things might work out.

Sharon: Well, I'm in no position to deal with him right now -- not with this situation hanging over my head.

Victoria: Even if we pay the blackmail, you do realize that this is not gonna go away?

Sharon: Excuse me. I am not the one who's painting all these rosy scenarios. That's phyllis' style, and he was dumb enough to fall for it again. No doubt she convinced him that it would never come out that they stayed the night together.

Victoria: How did you find out about that?

Sharon: Mariah told me. She heard it from summer, who was living with phyllis at the time, so... it all comes full circle. Once again, the recklessness of-that woman --

Nikki: All right. Enough. Enough. I've made my decision. Victoria, please fire up your laptop for me.

Sharon: What are you doing?

Nikki: I'm gonna pay the bastard.

Abby: Throwing chairs through windows sounds pretty intense.

Traci: At least this time it stayed inside the building.

Abby: Doesn't seem like uncle jack will be forgiving you anytime soon.

Ashley: Yeah, I'm aware of that. I'm also aware it might be the same thing with the two of you.

Traci: Actually... I'm starting to think that I owe you an apology.

Ashley: Really?

Traci: I had no idea how much pain you were in. I should have paid closer attention. I should have been more sensitive. I should have supported you and admonished jack. If I had, maybe none of this would have happened.

Ashley: Thank you. I think we both know, though, it wouldn't have changed jack's attitude and it would not have stopped him from using those company by-laws against me because of his enormous ego. Honestly, I just felt he left me no choice.

Abby: Stop. Stop saying that you had no other options except for to be cruel and act out. I refuse to accept that.

Ashley: I don't think you understand, abby, how deep and how insidious this pattern goes with jack and me and how far back it goes. Ask traci. You don't believe me? Ask her. She knows.

Traci: [ Sighs ] Yes. Jack has always been competitive and, yes, entitled. But he has always adored ashley.

Ashley: He adored daddy, too, but he slept with his wife.

Traci: Oh, my god. That was a long time ago.

Abby: That's irrelevant.

Ashley: It is completely relevant because that is your uncle at his core. He can love you with one part of himself, and the other part of himself is plotting against you, and for him, that's just normal behavior. No! Listen to me! At some point in this family, it just became accepted as business as usual. Don't you see how messed up that is? The next time you want to lecture me about rising above and being the bigger person, you find jack and you tell him that it's time for him to turn the other cheek.

Abby: Well, I don't see that happening.

Ashley: Okay. Well, you know, jack's next move is up to jack. I can take whatever he throws at me. I think I've proven that.

Jack: Kyle, why don't you call my office at dark horse and tell them I'm not gonna be back there today? I'd like a moment alone with billy.

Billy: Still the sidekick, huh? Still covering for her?

Kyle: I'm not.

Billy: Do you not see how sick it was, using my addiction as a tool to force me out to further her own personal agenda/ because that's what she did.

Kyle: You're wrong.

Jack: Until we have more information, why don't we just agree to disagree?

Billy: I'm gonna get to the bottom of this, kyle.

Kyle: I'm telling you the truth. Ashley isn't the one who sabotaged you. She wanted you out as C.E.O., But... there were lines even she wouldn't cross.

Billy: She confided that in you, did she?

Kyle: No. She argued with me.

Billy: Argued with you? Whether to cross the line?

Kyle: She refused to do anything that involved tempting you to gamble again.

Billy: You son of a bitch. It was you.

Abby: Something still doesn't make sense to me.

Ashley: Honey, can we talk about this later, please? I just need a minute to decompress upstairs. I just need to be alone for a minute, please.

Traci: Ashley... the whole time that we've been talking about all of this... I haven't seen one single glimmer of remorse from you.

Ashley: Well, you asked me to be honest.

Abby: You're not sorry?

Ashley: Jack left me no recourse... but to just slink away in defeat, and I'm done with that. So if I had to do it all over again, I would. I have zero regrets.

Traci: Oh, sweetie. I'm sorry.

Abby: [ Sniffles ]

Jack: Okay, stop. That's enough.

Billy: Did you know about this, jack?

Kyle: All I did was present you with opportunities.

Billy: That's not how addiction works, kyle! Gambling took over my life! My career is in shambles because of you!

Kyle: Oh, you can blame yourself for that. Nobody forced you to become an embezzler.

Jack: That's enough.

Billy: Why'd you do it? Why'd you do it? We all know kyle abbott doesn't do anything unless he gets something out of it. The way you're making it sound, even ashley was disgusted by what you did.

Kyle: Oh, not so disgusted she didn't use it to her advantage. And, yes, you're correct. After that, she had no more use for me. Worse, she threatened to fire me if I didn't fall in line.

Billy: Oh, poor baby.

Kyle: I didn't know things would get so far off the rails! I told myself you would have done the same things mistakes. I just sped up the timeline.

Billy: Go to hell, kyle.

Kyle: Tell me I'm wrong, then. You can't, can you? Because you don't change, billy. You never will.

Arturo: What is this?

Ted: Hi! Arturo?

Arturo: Yeah.

Ted: Ted, C.E.O.'S executive assistant.

Ted: Hi, ted. Uh, what -- what's going on in there? What happened?

Ted: Ah, there was a bit of an altercation earlier. So, can you replace the window?

Arturo: Your text made it seem like this was an issue with the installation my guys did. This is unrelated damage, buddy.

Ted: Sorry for any miscommunication.

Arturo: I guess I could have my guys come in overnight, but I'm gonna have to charge the company for it.

Ted: Shouldn't be an issue.

Billy: If you think for one minute I'm gonna let this go --

Jack: Nobody's swinging at anybody!

Kyle: Don't you dare think for a second you didn't bring this upon yourself!

Billy: I did this to myself?! You screwed me, kyle!

Jack: Stop this.

Billy: If you think for one second that I'm gonna let this go -- nobody screws with me like this without serious consequences!

Jack: No one understands this better than I do.

Kyle: Let me handle this, dad.

[ Knock on door ]

Jack: Yes! Come in!

Ted: Uh, sorry... to interrupt. I hired a contractor to fix the window, and I confirmed your room at the athletic club. You're the only ones booked, so you can meet as long as you need.

Jack: Good. Thank you. And get ahold of the board members. Round them up. I want them all there -- except for ashley.

Ted: I'm on it.

Kyle: A board meeting without ashley?

Billy: What gives?

Jack: It's time to bring an end to the chaos.

Arturo: Hey. Everything all right over there?

Abby: No. Um... well, I'm okay. There's just some mind-blowing stuff going on.

Arturo: Yeah. Looks like your board meeting got a little out of hand.

Abby: It's been a terrible day. I just feel like my family's falling apart.

Arturo: I'm sorry to hear that, babe. I know what it's like. Is there anything I can do?

Abby: That's really sweet of you to offer, but no. Not really.

Arturo: How 'bout I give you a call a little later and, uh, check in, see how you're doing?

Billy: I'll take the next one.

Abby: Okay. I will. Okay, bye.

Traci: I'm so sorry to interrupt, but that was ted at the office. They are reconvening the board meeting.

Abby: When?

Traci: Right now, at the club. We've got to head right over there. Come on.

Jack: Oh, arturo. Hey. What are you doing here?

Arturo: Hey, uh, they called me to fix the window.

Jack: Yeah, thanks. Thanks for taking care of that.

Arturo: Jack, uh... your family's important to you. And whatever's going on, I can see it's upsetting. Happy to do what I can.

Jack: We're gonna be all right. I'm gonna make sure of it... the way my father would have wanted me to.

Victoria: Okay. I'm on the site. You're gonna need to set up an account to transfer funds from your bank to the blackmailer's offshore account.

Nikki: Okay. I will take over from here. Thank you.

Sharon: Wow. When you make up your mind, you don't mess around.

Victoria: Mom, you know, you have time before the deadline's up if you want to give this some more thought.

Nikki: I don't see any reason to wait.

Sharon: Do you need to talk to your banker before you make a transfer this large?

Nikki: No. Won't be an issue.

Victoria: I still think that we should let phyllis know that we've changed our minds.

[ Key clicks ]

Nikki: Too late now.

Sharon: That's it? You already paid him?

Nikki: See for yourself.

Sharon: Oh, my god, nikki. What have you done?

Ashley: Abby? Traci? Hello?! Hey, guys! Anybody here?! Abby!

Nikki: Thank you. We'll just be another minute. Okay, sharon. Victoria and I are going to be ordering something to eat. If you're hungry, please feel free to join us.

Victoria: Mom, um, I'm a little more interested in answers than I am food.

Sharon: Yeah. The person who sent these letters demanded a quarter of a million dollars. You sent him $1?!

Victoria: Why would you do that?

Nikki: Well, either sharon is right and this person cares more about tormenting us than he does money, in which case why send money? And if phyllis is right and this is a case of pure, unadulterated blackmail, well, I'm not gonna cave in to that. Either way, I sent a clear message that we are not afraid, we are not intimidated, and we won't be messed with. So, hopefully, that's enough to put an end to this whole thing.

Jack: Ashley?!

Abby: Maybe she's in her room.

Ashley: Wow. The gang's all here. Billy, no. Don't tell me they pulled you out of rehab for this.

Billy: Oh, I appreciate your concern. You know what else would have been nice? A little warning what your little henchman was up to here, undermining my hard-won sobriety.

Ashley: I never knew about kyle's manipulations until it was too late. In fact, I never knew for sure. I-I did have my suspicions, though.

Billy: Uh-huh.

Ashley: So, is this what the family meeting was about? I mean, I take it that's where you've all been.

Kyle: It wasn't a family meeting.

Ashley: No?

Jack: It was a board meeting.

Ashley: Without the C.E.O.?

Billy: You were cordially not invited.

Jack: I decided it was best that you --

Abby: Uncle jack, let me. I know you feel justified in turning the tables on uncle jack. You feel like this family has a double standard that unfairly punishes you. And there may be some truth to that, but, mom, what you did was wrong, and we can't condone it.

Ashley: Okay. So, what does that mean? You held a vote to censure me?

Abby: Actually, uh...

Traci: The vote was to remove you as C.E.O. Of jabot... and it was unanimous.
