Episode #11373 ~Victor's condition takes an unexpected turn; Hilary shocks Lily; Mac gives J.T. a reality check.

Provided By Suzanne

Previously on the young and the restless ...

Nikki: You have a lot of family here who love you so much, victor. You've got to beat this.

Victoria: You're so worried about me that you're going from person to person gossiping about J.T.

Mackenzie: It's not gossip, victoria. It's the reality that I lived through. And I don't want you to experience the same.

J.T.: Let's grab a calendar and let's pick out some wedding dates.

Victoria: I can't marry you.

Lily: I know that hillary wants devon back, but devon does not want her back. And I refuse to accept that idea.

Kyle: With victor fighting for his life and you looking at a long-term jail sentence, I'd say I got back to G.C. Just in time.

Hilary: Hilary curtis here, and we have interrupted your regular programming to bring you a seismic announcement from a financial titan. Everyone will be buzzing about this as we go live to the genoa city athletic club, where victor newman, renowned business tycoon and C.E.O. Of newman enterprises, is calling a press conference. And as you will see [Chuckles] He is not alone.

[ Camera shutters clicking ]

Victor: Thank you all for coming. I'm here today to announce a new collaboration -- one that will shake up the business world. Here's my new partner. For those of you who are not familiar with this gentleman, this is kyle abbott.

[ Reporters murmur ] Many of you have probably wondered why the newmans and the abbotts have not united before.

[ Scattered laughter ] Well, today is that day.

Kyle: Victor newman is backing my venture to create a bold new voice in the beauty world that will leave competitors in the dust. And, yes, I am talking about re-branding, re-vamping, and re-igniting jabot cosmetics --

Jack: Stop! Stop now! There is no way I would allow my company to be tied to newman. No way I would allow my son to team up with this snake.

Kyle: Sorry, dad. It's a done deal.

Jack: Kyle, don't be naive. He is using you to get to me.

Kyle: Or maybe I'm using victor to push you aside. Ever think of that?

[ Scoffs ]

Victor: You lost again, jack.

[ Both laugh ]

[ Gunshot ] No! [ Gasping ]

Ashley: [ Rattles door ]

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: Aunt ashley. What a pleasant surprise.

Ashley: Hi.

Kyle: [ Smooches ] Come on in. Make yourself at home.

Lily: Yes, I'm looking at the portfolios now. Mm-hmm. Okay. Well, someone from our office will e-mail you our selection shortly.

Mattie: For tamara?

Lily: Great. That should cover it. Okay. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye. Um, are all the model submissions in one folder?

Charlie: Yeah, they're alphabetized by manager.

Lily: Okay, great. And, mattie?

Mattie: Oh, yeah. Um, bags are packed, but we still don't have the lp playlist that you wanted for the social-media posts.

Lily: Right.

Charlie: Yeah, should I ask uncle devon about it?

Lily: No. He hasn't shown up yet, so I'm sure he's busy. You know what, go down the hall. I'm sure one of the producers will have it. Oh, what about my adapters?

Charlie: One's toast, but I can buy a new one. Company card?

Lily: Oh, yeah. Okay. Here.

Hilary: Charlie, while you're out, can you grab me an espresso --

Charlie: Can't stop. I'm sorry.

Hilary: Okay. Oh, you prepping for your big trip to new york?

Lily: Um, I don't have time to talk. I have a lot to do. And devon hasn't come in yet. I need him to sign off on a few things.

Hilary: That slacker. Hm.

Lily: Like you should be talking. You haven't been in all day, either.

Hilary: Interesting. Neither devon nor I have been here all day. Hmm.

Lily: He wouldn'T.

Hilary: Don't be too hard on him, lily. Necessity demanded.

Lily: All day. You and devon.

Hilary: Well, you know, when you're trying to make a baby, sometimes you need a little extra time. To get it just right.

J.T.: I don't understand. Why -- why do you want to call off the wedding?

Victoria: Just -- we need more time.

J.T.: We were married before. What's the big deal?

Victoria: Then why are we rushing into this? Huh? I mean, we're committed to one another, we're living together, we're raising reed together. We're happy. Wh-why do we have this -- this need to plunge into a ceremony if we're --

J.T.: You were completely on board yesterday. What has changed? Hi! I'm mike ditka.

Nick: Oh, victor. I miss you so much. Where did you go?

Victor: Nikki, I'm right here now. As I've always been -- by your side. You reassuring me, you keeping vigil, means so much to me. I don't know how I will make it through this without you. You're right here now, by my side. That's all that matters.

Nick: Mom? Did you hear me? You looked, uh -- I don't know. Like you'd gone off somewhere.

Nikki: I was right here. I was right here.

[ Glasses clinking ]

Kyle: It's weird. Being in this office. Having a drink. While my dad's in jail. Let's toast to my dad being cleared of these charges.

Ashley: Yeah. It's good to know you care.

Kyle: Why wouldn't I? He's my dad.

Ashley: Who you voted against staying in place here as C.E.O.

Kyle: I voted with my conscience. Which happened to side with you.

Ashley: Yeah, well, thank you for that.

[ Glasses clink ] I have to say, though, for months, you've been virtually incommunicado.

Kyle: I may have been out of touch, but at least I still work for jabot. You're an executive at newman. Should I call security?

Ashley: I kept my seat on the board, kyle.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] That's a relief.

Ashley: Mm-hmm. So, I guess I should get started sorting out how the company's gonna be run while jack is absent. There is a lot going on.

Kyle: That's why I'm here. To help.

Ashley: For how long?

Kyle: The duration. This is our family's company. And thanks to my dad, nobody but an abbott can run it. So I'm it. Until he gets back.

Ashley: You?

Kyle: Big shoes. No doubt about that. But I'll do my best.

J.T.: When I put this ring on your finger, you couldn't wait to be married. I don't understand what's going on. I just -- I don't think you're thinking straight.

Victoria: I'm just in the middle of a stressful situation, with my dad in the hospital and the strain that it's putting on newman.

[ Sighs ] I just don't think that now is the right time for us to be --

J.T.: It's the perfect time, okay? What you need in your life is stability, and getting married is gonna -- is gonna give you that. It's gonna make us stronger. I-I just think you're -- you're getting cold feet.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Yeah, I guess maybe that's part of it.

J.T.: No, that's all of it. Okay? So let's just go through with the wedding as planned, and --

Victoria: Can you please just...

J.T.: What?

Victoria: Listen to me.

J.T.: I-I am listening to you.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Look, don't discount what I'm saying just because it's not what you want to hear.

J.T.: I'm not doing that.

Victoria: Maybe you don't mean to, but that's how it sounds sometimes.

J.T.: [ Sighs ] Okay. Uh, I'll work on it. Problem solved. What?

Victoria: I don't want to get married now.

J.T.: Yeah, but we just decided --

Victoria: Look, I'm worried. I'm worried about what this will do to us and the kids if we just rush into this. I'm not rejecting you. And I'm not saying never. I'm just saying, can we please just -- let's just take a breath. They're two completely different things.

J.T.: And two legitimate reasons.

Victoria: I thought so.

J.T.: But I'm gonna need more of an explanation if you're gonna do this 180 on me.

Victoria: I just told you.

J.T.: Tell me what this really is about, and then maybe I'll agree to putting off the wedding for a while.

Victoria: You're making it sound as if I need your permissions.

J.T.: No, you twisted my words.

Victoria: That's not how this works. This is what I want.

Hilary: Hilary curtis. Right. Yeah, whenever the doctor can squeeze me in. I would love to come in for a pregnancy test. Mm-hmm. Talk to you soon. Thank you.

[ Sighs ] Ah, it's probably too soon, but I am anxious to find out if it took. I had pretty much given up hope after you and cane locked me in here. That was some scheme. If it had worked the way you planned, devon and I would have had to wait a whole extra month before I was ovulating again. But maybe you were right in assuming that the delay would make devon change his mind about having a baby with me. Guess we'll never know, will we?

Lily: I'm busy. Can't you see that?

Hilary: Did I mention how much I enjoyed getting busy last night? You know, that's why I'm not mad at you, lily.

[ Chuckles ] Normally, I would just tear you apart. But I want to thank you for a night that I won't soon forget. Even though it was exhausting. I am gonna need that espresso. You know what, I should make it a decaf, just in case. Hmm? Hey. Um... I was gonna go do a coffee run. Do you want anything?

Devon: No. No, I'm fine. Thank you. Hey. Where's charlie and mattie?

Lily: They're out of the office. Devon, listen, I'm --

Devon: You know what, lily, every time I think about what you pulled to make hilary miss her appointment --

Lily: I get it. And you can let me have it. I understand. Just tell me one thing. What makes you angrier -- what I did to hilary or hilary making sure that everyone knows that you two did the deed last night...all night?

Nick: Has his fever gone down at all?

Nikki: The antibiotics haven't done anything so far. Nobody knows why. Maybe he's just too exhausted to fight it, or maybe he'S...

Nikki: Mom, he's got a whole team of doctors. They're good at what they do. They're gonna get on top of this. When's the last time you slept?

Nikki: [ Sighs ] Oh, honey, I've been napping.

Nick: No, mom. I mean really slept?

Nikki: Please don't make this about me, okay? This is about my husband. And I know that sounds weird after everything that has happened, but...

Nick: No. There's no judgment here. All right? Arturo, the affair, everything that dad's done... it all seems irrelevant now. I just him to get through this so he can tell us who put him here.

Nikki: You still don't think that jack did it, do you?

Nick: I'm really looking forward to getting some real answers.

Nikki: [ Sighs ]

Nick: All right. Let's get you out of here and get some fresh air, okay? We'll, uh, get you some coffee or something.

Nikki: No, we can'T. What if your father wakes up? Somebody has to be here for him.

Nick: All right, well, I'll stay. But you got to promise me that you'll leave this building for just a little while.

Nikki: You know what, I do have someplace I have to go. I won't be very long, okay?

Nick: Okay. Where you going?

Nikki: All right. I-I'll be back.

Kyle: Did I miss anything?

Ashley: It's very thorough, actually. Pretty much what I would have done as acting C.E.O.

Kyle: Phew! Seriously. If you think of anything I overlooked...

Ashley: I'm concerned. And confused. Why are you so eager to jump into this?

Kyle: I'm not gonna lie. I had a sweet deal in new york. But dad painted us into a corner. The bylaws of the company are explicit about who can take charge with him temporarily out of the picture. I'm a blood abbott.

Ashley: So is traci. And billy.

Kyle: I don't see either of them stepping up. Unless you know something I don'T.

Ashley: They haven't mentioned anything.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Then... I get to make sure the lights stay on.

Ashley: How's your relationship with your father?

Kyle: To be honest? Tense. He's been furious at me ever since the vote, but... I was planning on coming home, do what I could to fix things.

Ashley: Mm. When?

Kyle: Ironically, now. I was gonna use the walnut grove centennial as an excuse to spend time with him. Maybe work things out. But I had no idea how critical the timing would turn out to be.

Ashley: I have to be frank with you, kyle. I mean, jabot is more than just a company. Our employees, our suppliers, our customers, we are responsible to them. So I need to know -- are you sincere about this?

Kyle: I -- [ Sighs ] I can't blame you for doubting me. But the answer's emphatically yes.

Victoria: You know, we should table this discussion. I really do need to get to the hospital.

J.T.: We will as soon as you tell me what set this off.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] J.T...

J.T.: [ Sighs ] You know, you're not leaving me a lot of room to maneuver here, okay? It's either your way or nothing at all.

Victoria: Is that how it sounded?

J.T.: A little, yeah.

Victoria: All right, then. Just allow me to clarify.

J.T.: I'm all ears.

Victoria: We're partners, right?

J.T.: 50/50.

Victoria: So we're equal in this, which means neither one of us can force the other one to do something that they don't want to do.

J.T.: Absolutely.

Victoria: All right. So then we're in agreement.

J.T.: Yeah. Yeah. Like we agreed to get married before all of a sudden you --

Victoria: Will you please stop dissecting my decision? Wouldn't this time be better spent with us mapping out how things will go from here?

J.T.: How will things go from here?

Victoria: I love you. Do you love me?

J.T.: You drive me crazy, but, yeah, I do love you.

Victoria: [ Laughs ] Okay. So then let's just focus on what we expect from one another, and -- and how we're gonna meet those expectations before we plunge into this, okay?

J.T.: Sure. But...I know you didn't come up with this on your own. Have you been talking to mac?

Victoria: I don't need people to tell me how I think. I make up my own mind.

Victoria: Hannah's gonna stay with the kids, so if you need to go out...

J.T.: What, you're leaving?

Victoria: Yes. I told you, I need to check on my dad.

J.T.: Yeah, but we're -- we're not done talking.

Victoria: There is something else that I want to say to you, but I want you to think about all of these things before responding. I want you to take your time.

J.T.: Oh, that sounds ominous.

Victoria: If I sounded angry earlier, I wasn'T. But I -- I do want to be clear. I want to make sure you understand where I'm coming from.

J.T.: When have I not understood you?

Victoria: Sometimes, you -- you don't listen.

J.T.: Oh, come on. That's just -- [Chuckles] That's just not true.

Victoria: That's how it feels, J.T. Look, there are times when it seems like you think that yours is the only opinion that matters. Admit it. Sometimes you're critical of me, and dismissive. And that's not what I want out of this relationship. But that's what's been happening.

J.T.: I am trying to do right by you. I-I'm trying to encourage you. And, look, if that comes across as -- as judgmental, then... that's not my intent. I-I just want you to be happy and successful and -- and fulfilled.

Victoria: Well [Scoffs] The way you go about it --

J.T.: I know. I know. I know. I can come across as pushy. I get it. But that's just out of frustration. Look, here's what I want for you. I want you to have everything you want, and that's what I'm trying to give you.

Victoria: If i follow your lead.

J.T.: Well, I -- I -- I'm not trying to boss you around.

Victoria: That's what you say, but sometimes I --

J.T.: Look. Okay. You say you want this to be 50/50, but that's how it's always been. So why is it, now that mac has come to town, there's suddenly --

Victoria: This doesn't concern mac. This is about you and me. Period.

J.T.: Okay. I get it. But you just --

Victoria: I got to go. We'll talk about this later, okay? Bye.

J.T.: All right.

[ Sighs ] Hannah, I'm going out.

Jack: They told me I had a visitor. I wasn't expecting you.

Nikki: Well, I suppose it is a little surprising. The wife of the man that you're accused of trying to kill. And yet here I am.

Lily: I just need you to compare my calendars and make sure none of my meetings are double-booked, okay?

Mattie: Okay.

Charlie: You want the tablet?

Mattie: No, I can just use my phone.

Devon: Why did you tell my sister that we had sex?

Hilary: I didn't intend to, okay, but she was being so smug.

Devon: You have to not worry about lily.

Hilary: I know. I know. I just -- I couldn't help myself. I want her to know that she didn't win, okay? That despite her, we are making this baby.

Devon: I mean, I guess i can't blame you, given the circumstances, but since we're not gonna do it again...

Hilary: Yeah. No more sex for us. Just... contact-free insemination.

Devon: Yeah. You know, this is nobody's business but ours.

Hilary: Yeah. Of course.

[ Cellphone rings ] I should get that. It could be the doctor.

Devon: [ Sighs ]

Lily: You let her off the hook, didn't you?

Devon: You know, I don't feel like a lecture right now.

Lily: Don't worry. I'm not going to give you one, 'cause I -- I give up. I am done trying to show you this is just one step in hilary's plan to get you back. Her motives for wanting a baby are all wrong.

Devon: Lily, please.

Lily: Don't worry. I'm done. You made your bed, and now you're having sex in it.

Devon: Yeah, and you want to know why that happened? 'Cause you interfered. So you want to blame hilary. You want to blame me. But if you think about it, this is on you.

Mackenzie: Can we please not do this now? I'm heading to the airport. It'll be much more comfortable for both of us once I've left town.

J.T.: We need to talk about this before you go.

Mackenzie: We can communicate by our attorneys.

J.T.: No. You talked to victoria, now you can make time to talk to me.

Feel the clarity of

Mattie: Your boarding pass is on your phone.

Lily: Okay. And on the home front?

Charlie: Dad, mattie, and I, we synchronized our schedule with the nanny, so sam's covered.

Lily: Great.

Hilary: Well, since it looks like you're all set for your trip, uh, mattie, charlie, I need you to help me bring some stuff from my car.

Lily: Uh, no. You can'T. I still need them. I have more to do before I leave.

Hilary: Fine. Instead of using the company interns, I will waste my time making three trips instead. Simone.

Simone: How's it going?

Hilary: Never better. You?

Simone: Uh, I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd see if devon was around.

Hilary: He is. But, you know, for future, you really shouldn't drop by without making an appointment. Devon's very busy.

Lily: Actually, hilary, we, uh -- we have this handled, so if you still need mattie and charlie to help you...

Hilary: That'd be great. All right. Let's go.

Lily: Hi!

Simone: Hey.

Lily: It's so good to see you again.

Simone: Thanks. Um... I probably should have called.

Lily: Oh, no. Please. Devon won't mind. Quite the opposite, actually, from what I've seen.

Simone: Tell me more.

Lily: I don't know. Just a vibe I'm getting.

Simone: Hm.

Lily: If you don't mind me asking, what is your status with devon?

Simone: [ Chuckles ] Well, we're not exactly a couple, but we like hanging out.

Lily: Oh.

Simone: I wouldn't mind more of that, though.

Lily: Well, along those lines, I don't think hamilton-winters is taking full advantage of what you have to offer.

Simone: As a singer, you mean?

Lily: No, more than that. I mean, devon's always talking about synergy across the company, so I think you'd be natural as a model.

Simone: [Snorts] I'm not too short?

Lily: Well, for runway, maybe, but not for endorsements or online. And I think you'd be great as an influencer across our social-media platforms.

Simone: That's my dream! I love fashion, makeup...

Lily: Great.

Simone: Yeah.

Lily: Well, then you have to be okay with putting in more time here. And, just to tell you, I think devon would be very, very happy about that.

Nick: Hey. Have you seen mom?

Victoria: She isn't here?

Nick: She took off. She won't answer her phone. I just got an update from the doctors.

Victoria: And?

Nick: [ Sighs ] It's worse than we thought.

Kyle: Hey. Thought I might run into you here.

Mariah: Oh, god. Please don't tell me this means snowflake is heading back to town, too.

Kyle: Summer hasn't shared her plans with me.

Mariah: Oh. It's like that.

Kyle: You and kevin?

Mariah: We're still pals, but he moved to oregon. What are you -- what are you doing here?

Kyle: I flew in for my school's centennial, but there's this thing with my father, and...

Mariah: Yeah, I meant -- I meant what are you doing in this building?

Kyle: And here I am trying to make it all deep. Um... business. I'm checking up on jabot's sponsorship contracts.

Mariah: Okay. Well... great. Good luck with everything.

Kyle: [ Scoffs ] What? I'm nothing to you now that you're famous?

Mariah: I am definitely --

Kyle: Your show's syndicated all over. I even caught a couple of your online broadcasts in new york.

Mariah: If you think I'm gonna ask if you like it or not --

Kyle: I'll volunteer that information. How about that? You're good.

Mariah: [ Scoffs ]

Kyle: Even if I thought it was the very last thing you'd ever be doing.

Mariah: Well, apparently, there's always room for a snarky sidekick.

Kyle: And nobody's snarkier. It's good to see you, mariah.

Mariah: Really? Or is it more like, the underground's burned down, kevin, summer, and noah aren't here, and you're desperate for some company?

Kyle: Thanks for asking. I would love to spend some time with you. When and where?

Mariah: Kyle, you don't like me.

Kyle: I didn't think you liked me.

Mariah: Yeah. You were right.

Kyle: [ Scoffs ]

Mariah: Okay. Fine. Fine. How long are you gonna be in town for?

Kyle: For as long as I'm needed. It's what you do when your family's in trouble, right? You figure out a way to pitch in.

Jack: Of course I'm going to deny assaulting victor. I didn'T. Only I have no concrete proof to give you. Just my word.

Nikki: You and victor fought that afternoon.

Jack: No, we argued. The same way we have for years, over and over again.

Nikki: And devon and arturo pulled you apart. Why did you come back?

Jack: Because I was stupid. You know what, maybe I shouldn't go any further. I have been accused of attempted murder. Anything I say is...

Nikki: Okay, wait a minute. Wait a minute. What are you doing?

Jack: Not that long ago, I was out there. Until innocent things I did, like going out to the ranch or calling 911, have put me in here. You can't blame me for being a little paranoid.

Nikki: I have been in the hospital for days, praying for victor to wake up. Now I need the truth from you, jack. Why did you go back that night?

Jack: I don't know.

Nikki: Well, that's not good enough.

Jack: I could tell you I went back there to straighten things out with victor. I could tell you I was itching for a fight with him. I could tell you that I went there to see you and not him. All of that would be true.

Nikki: And when you got there?

Jack: When I got there, I found him at the base of the stairs, unconscious. He was out. I called for help. I tried to save him. What more do you want from me?

Nikki: I was at the hospital with nicholas, and I asked him if he believed you had done it.

Jack: And what did he say?

Nikki: At the time, he wasn't sure. And to tell you the truth, i wasn't sure, either.

Jack: When I found victor that night, I said to myself,

this world would be a better place without him. This could be a blessing. No. You wanted to hear the truth. This is the truth. I have hated that man for years. But I did not push him down the stairs. God help me, I wish I knew who did.

J.T.: You couldn't hold back, could you?

J.T.: No, you -- you couldn't respect that what happened in our marriage belonged to us and nobody else.

Mackenzie: What happened?

J.T.: You happened. Yeah, y-you came back for the school centennial, and it wasn't enough for you just to connect with old friends. No. While one marriage was winding down, you had to try and sabotage one that was just starting up.

Mackenzie: J.T., We've been through this. I wasn't trying to ruin things for you and victoria, but i also -- I didn't want her stumbling blindly into --

J.T.: Is it so hard for you to believe that somebody could love me when you can't?

Mackenzie: Despite my reaction when I saw the ring, I want things to work out for you and victoria.

J.T.: I'm having a hard time believing that right now.

Mackenzie: I'm not vindictive.

J.T.: Well, I got a one-sided custody agreement that says otherwise.

Mackenzie: Look, you know what, if we're just gonna snipe at each other, I'm gonna --

J.T.: What are you trying to do to me? Why are you trying to convince victoria that I'm some kind of monster?

Mackenzie: You're not a monster, J.T. But there were things that you did. I am natural.

Lily: So, maybe over a dinner?

Simone: When do you want to get together?

Devon: I just have to check my calendar, but I think something in the next couple days should be good.

Simone: Shouldn't we wait until you get back from your trip?

Lily: Oh, no. Devon and I already bounced ideas around. And besides, he is the man in charge, after all.

Devon: Yeah, we'll be able to work out the details. And I'm eager to hear any thoughts you have on the

influencer platform.

Simone: [ Scoffs ] So many. You'll probably be bored.

Devon: Oh, there's not a chance of that.

[ Cellphone rings ] Sorry. Excuse me. I got to take this.

Simone: Thanks for thinking of me and setting that up.

Lily: Yeah, of course. I was actually gonna schedule the meeting for when I got back, but devon's the one who pushed it up so that you two could have dinner together.

Simone: Really?

Lily: Yeah. If you ask me, he's smitten. Oh, hey. Just in time. I need help getting my bags to the car.

Hilary: You and simone seem awfully friendly over there.

Lily: Oh. Yeah. She's really nice. And I think she would be an excellent addition to things around here.

J.T.: [ Sighs ] Listen, if there's a charge for the later flight, you just let me know and --

Mackenzie: No, it's -- it's fine. We needed to do this.

J.T.: Give my love to the kids.

Mackenzie: Of course.

J.T.: Look, there's, um... we had our issues, right, but, um... there are thousands of things that go into making a relationship work -- or not -- and... in the end, ours just didn'T.

Mackenzie: [ Sighs ] But you and victoria?

J.T.: I don't know if it's timing or luck, but... whatever goes into that equation to make things right, that's what she and I have in this moment.

Mackenzie: Then build on that. Put in the work.

J.T.: You don't think i worked on our marriage?

Mackenzie: You never forgot my birthday.

[ Chuckles ] You... you changed diapers. You shoveled the snow.

J.T.: But...

Mackenzie: It didn't make up for the rest.

J.T.: [ Sighs ]

Mackenzie: And that's what you have to work on, okay?

J.T.: It'll be different this time.

Mackenzie: Goodbye, J.T.

Nikki: Victor has sepsis?

Nick: So far, everything they're throwing at it, nothing is working.

Nikki: People can die from that!

Victoria: That's not gonna happen. Dad has an incredible team of doctors.

Nikki: Well, I'm gonna go talk to them.

Mariah: Hilary may be a diva, but she's definitely not a slacker, so I'm learning a lot.

Kyle: How's your personal life? Seeing anyone?

Mariah: Ha, ha! Boring. Your turn.

Kyle: I-I... I enjoy new york. Being in a competitive market taught me a thing or two about figuring out what I want and going for it.

Mariah: Wow. You really sound like a new yorker.

Kyle: Being out of town for a few years doesn't change you that much.

Mariah: Well, is it dull being back here?

Kyle: I'm beginning to realize what I liked about genoa city. Maybe I'll even stick around long-term.

Mariah: Well, I'm sure your dad would love that.

Jack: If one thing came out of nikki's visit, I realized how flimsy my defense is. You know, it's so bad, even my friends believe -- you're my sister, and you had your doubts.

Ashley: Not anymore.

Jack: How do I convince 12 strangers?

Ashley: Um... you've got the truth on your side?

Jack: Got any more tired platitudes you can roll out?

Ashley: You have a family that loves you and believes in you.

Jack: I'll keep that in mind.

Ashley: I do have some good news.

Jack: Yeah? I could use some of that.

Ashley: Well, you don't have to worry any more how the company is gonna do while you're indisposed.

Jack: Traci's gonna take over? Billy? Not exactly reassuring.

Ashley: No. Kyle's stepping up, jack. He's already started handling things.

Jack: No. This is my nightmare. Only it's reality. No, there's got to be some way we can stop this.

Ashley: I-I don't understand.

Jack: I need you to step up and make sure my son does not take over at jabot. This puppy had nothing

Victoria: When did you get here?

J.T.: Um... I was just about to come and look for you.

Victoria: We should probably not be in there. Dad has an infection that's getting worse.

J.T.: I'm sorry to hear that.

Victoria: So, did you come to offer your support, or...?

J.T.: To fight with you at your father's bedside? Come on. If you think that little of me, I mean, we've really gone off the rails.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I can't get into this right now.

J.T.: No. Hold on a second. I -- I came here because I-I -- as much as you're dealing with, your father, I didn't want you to think that I'm at home, upset. And I wanted to tell you that you're right. I have been judgmental. I've -- I've been demanding. And I didn't realize it until now, but I do. I know it now. And... it stops.

Victoria: So you're okay with slowing down the wedding plans?

J.T.: Yeah. Whatever you want to do with the wedding, if you want to slow it down, I am on board. Uh, I was expecting a bigger reaction.

Victoria: Look, I appreciate what you said. It's not that I don'T. But --

J.T.: But? Whatever you need.

Victoria: I need you to accept one condition. It's something that will benefit both of us, and if we're gonna do this, I really want to do it the right way.

J.T.: Okay. What is it?

Victoria: I think we need to see a relationship counselor.

Jack: I'm telling you, kyle wasn't the least bit concerned about my well-being. He was busy laying into me for all the bad business decisions I've made over the years, that I have focused too much on my romantic relationships and not enough on him, my own son.

Ashley: Well, billy told me that kyle was carrying a grudge against you, but, jack, when i talked to kyle myself, I just didn't see it. He made it clear to me that -- that you were his number-one priority. Helping you was everything to him.

Jack: This is victor's doing. He's turned my own son against me.

Ashley: What, you think they're actually working together?

Jack: Kyle claims he's not.

Ashley: But you don't believe that.

Jack: I don't know what they're up to. I'm telling you, though, it's big. It could damage all of us.

Ashley: Okay. So what are you thinking?

Jack: Together, we have to find some way to stop my son.

Victoria: What is it? Is dad worse?

Nikki: [ Sighs ] They're doing everything they can, but there's no guarantee.

Nick: Look, we are not giving up. You know how strong and stubborn dad is.

Victoria: Yes. And if we just keep telling him that we believe he'll make it, then he'll hear that, and he'll use our energy, too.

Nikki: What are we gonna do? It's all in the doctors' hands. What if they're wrong? I mean, how am I gonna cope with that? I can't cope with that.

[Crying] What am I gonna do?!

Nick: Hey, hey. Hey.

[ Nikki sobbing ]
