Episode #11284 ~ Paul investigates Victor; Abby has a dangerous reunion with Zack; Ashley and Jack face the reality of Dina's diagnosis.

Provided By Suzanne

Scott: You can think what you want, pal, but abby and I never hooked up. Even if she was my type, she's never thought of me that way.

Abby: He's right. You're just being paranoid, and you're scaring me.

Zack: Oh, you should be scared. What did I just tell you? It was simple. Don't lie to me!

[ Laughing ] You think that you're so high and mighty. Truth is, you're no better than the any of the girls on my payroll. You look at me like I'm the big offender here? For what? 'Cause I use sex? So what? You're just as low. You cheated on me, and scott cheated on sharon. You're the real trash! And you both deserve exactly what's coming. Say goodbye, lovers!

Abby: [ Screams ]

[ Gunshot ]

Mariah: Hey. Checking your phone every five minutes isn't gonna make him magically appear. I can only help you for a little bit before I have to go work, so...

Sharon: I know. I just -- I have it set to ring and vibrate, and then it doesn't always...

[ Cellphone rings, vibrates ]

Sharon: Scott?

Paul: It's paul. You need to get to my office now.

Ashley: I thought you'd be at the office.

Jack: Hey.

Ashley: Oh, no. You said you were going to bed last night. You said you were right behind me.

Jack: Yeah, that was the plan.

Ashley: What'd you do, just stay up all night sitting here?

Jack: Couldn't turn my brain off, had all kinds of thoughts spinning around in there.

Ashley: I checked on mother. She's still sleeping.

Jack: I'm glad.

[ Voice breaking ] I don't know what to say to her, ash. I don't how to behave around her. I...

Ashley: I don't suppose there's any chance that we're wrong.

Jack: No. I called her neurologist at home last night. The battery of tests he ran, the mri, the blood test... he concurs completely with dr. Burg's assessment. I spoke to dr. Burg, as well. Our mother has alzheimer'S.

Ashley: So hard to believe, isn't it? I mean, her of all people. All the accomplishments in her life, and she traveled the world. She can hold her own with anybody. Now we just get to watch it all crumble away.

Jack: This disease is the ultimate cruelty. There's not a damn thing you can do about it. I would give anything to shield her from what she's about to deal with.

Ashley: So would I. I think we have to be realistic, though, jack. This didn't happen overnight. It took years to develop. It's irreversible, and there is no cure.

Jack: I know everything you say is true. I don't want to hear that right now.

Ashley: Okay, I'm sorry. Why don't you take a shower and get changed and we can drive into work together? I think we could both use the distraction.

Jack: Oh, my god. Abby. I didn't ask. I'm -- I got so caught up. Have you heard anything?

Ashley: I didn't sleep last night, either.

Jack: I'm sorry. We got to believe she's gonna get through this, she's gonna come home safely.

Ashley: Yeah. We do.

Jack: Listen, I'm, uh... I'm probably gonna work from home today. I feel kind of weird about leaving mom here alone.

Ashley: Okay.

Jack: Okay.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Ashley: Paul? Right now?

Additional sponsorship provided by...

Paul: All right. Keep me posted.

Sharon: Okay, tell me what's going on, and please tell me it's not bad news.

Paul: Go in my office.

Sharon: [ Gasps ]

Scott: Hey.

Paul: Yeah. All right. Thanks for the update. Zack stinnett died from his gunshot wound.

Sharon: [ Gasps ]

Paul: And there's an apb out on crystal porter.

Sharon: Oh! Is there anything I can do?

Paul: No, I just need to talk to crystal's sister, tessa, see if she knows anything.

Michael: Well, what about the charges? Considering the suspect shot her captor after being subjected to sexual enslavement?

Paul: You know, michael, that's all gonna be up to the D.A. Excuse me. I got to get that.

Lauren: Waiting for news. Watching my phone constantly. It was like the last time you went missing all over again. We didn't know if you'd be alive. I don't ever want to go through that again. Do you hear me?

Scott: Yes, mom. I'll try my best.

Lauren: Why do you have to be so heroic and impulsive?

Abby: If he hadn't chased after zack and me, I would still be trapped in that locker. Alone.

Sharon: I agree with lauren. Being out of touch for all those hours, it was absolute hell, but I don't want you to change. You are always going to be my hero.

Lauren: Ugh. Typical sharon. Always going for the dramatic. Of course you would encourage my son to risk his life.

Scott: If I had known you were gonna blame sharon for all this, I would have just stayed in that storage unit.

Lauren: I don't think now is the time for jokes.

Abby: We're okay. That's what counts, right?

Michael: Absolutely. We should focus on the positive. Scott and abby got out of that in one --

Ashley: Abby?

Abby: Mom!

Ashley: Oh, my god. Honey. Honey, are you okay?

Victor: Sweetheart...

Michael: Can I assume that the outstanding charges against my client will be dropped? I mean, it's not exactly fair that scott has to go around with this cloud of suspicion over his head for natalia's murder.

Paul: He's officially no longer a suspect.

[ Sharon and scott sigh ]

Lauren: Well, thank god.

Scott: I can finally breathe a little easier.

Paul: Well, you are free to leave the station, but don't leave town because you're a key witness, along with abby, and the investigators are gonna want to interview you.

Scott: Understood. One question question, though -- even though zack's dead, are you looking at him for natalia's murder? Maybe bring this poor woman a little bit of justice?

Paul: We've got this.

Michael: It should be fairly straightforward now to connect the dots between her and stinnett.

Lauren: I can't believe he was arrested in the first place.

Sharon: And don't try to claim you were just doing your job. My fifth grader could have told you that scott was being framed for murder.

Scott: Sharon, relax. It's okay.

Lauren: No! It's not okay. You know, I rarely agree with sharon, but I certainly do on this one.

Sharon: You could sue the department.

Paul: Don't you think we're getting a little carried away?

Michael: Absolutely. As I said, we should just be grateful that scott and abby are okay and let's move on from there.

Paul: I understand you're upset, and I know. I wish we could have avoided an arrest, but... considering the circumstances, it couldn't be helped.

Scott: Absolutely. No hard feelings. Any chance of, uh, you two calling a truce?

Michael: Ahh! If there was ever a time...

[ Clears throat ]

Sharon: Lauren... what do you say?

Lauren: I say... when hell freezes over.

Sharon: [ Scoffs ] Imagine that. We're on the same page! Twice in one day.

Lauren: Amazing.

Victor: God only knows what ordeal you've gone through.

Abby: [ Sighs ] It wasn't fun, but we dealt with it. And I'm okay. Really.

Ashley: Yeah, well, we're gonna let the doctor figure that out. We're going to memorial right now.

Abby: No, mom. Seriously. I'm fine, okay? I'm made of tough stuff, remember?

Victor: Well, you certainly have shown that in the past few days.

Abby: Thank you.

Ashley: What you should have done was gone to the police instead of confronting zack. He was dangerous. You could have been killed.

Victor: Well, thank god she wasn'T. Fortunately, that sob was eliminated. I couldn't be more proud of how you handled this whole ordeal.

Ashley: Why don't you come to the house with me and let uncle jack give you a big hug? Just to see for himself that you're doing okay.

Abby: Well...

Ashley: Better yet. Why don't you move back home for a little while? Let yourself recover. Let your family have a chance to spoil you rotten.

Abby: As tempting as that sounds, I don't think it's necessary.

Ashley: You can't blame a mother for trying.

Abby: But please tell uncle jack and dina that I'll stop by later for a visit. Right now, I need to go to the office with dad and do some damage control.

Ashley: Now? Why are you so intent on proving to him that you're a force to be reckoned with, abby?

Abby: Because I am.

Ashley: But sometimes you need to take care of yourself and not your father.

Abby: Mom, I brought zack to newman. I need to discuss this with dad and see what the potential fallout might be.

Ashley: I want to come with you. I can be your wingman.

Abby: Why?

Ashley: Because you're not just dealing with zack. You're dealing with victoria and the fact that she got a job that your father led you to believe was yours. You're gonna need some moral support.

Abby: Thank you for looking out for me. But I really do need to handle this on my own.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ] Okay, I'll talk to you soon. Bye. Oh, wait, devon -- are you still there? Crap. Hi! Okay, before you say anything... yes, I am incredibly appreciative of the fact that i have the nicest boyfriend on the planet and that he wants to spend thanksgiving with me, and I know we haven't seen each other in a while, but you've been going through such a rough time lately that I told devon that I need to keep my promise to you and spend the holiday with you. Especially since nick has faith. There was no way I was gonna let you spend thanksgiving alone. So I promised devon that we would celebrate on a different day.

Sharon: Okay, in other words, you're using me as an excuse to blow off devon.

Mariah: I wouldn't put it exactly like that.

Sharon: Anyway, I have something far more pressing to talk about with you.

Scott: Hey. Can we talk?

Abby: Um...

[ Sighs ]

Victor: Scott. I wanted to thank you. You were there for my daughter and you kept her safe. I appreciate that, okay?

Abby: Dad, I'm not some delicate flower. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself.

Victor: I understand, but scott was there for you to lean on. I thank you. I don't know what I would have done, had I lost you.

Scott: Well, believe it or not, victor, abby's the one who looked after me.

Victor: Really? Well, that's nice!

Paul: So tell crawford to read it this time. Where's scott?

Abby: Uh, he's in the office on the phone. He said you wouldn't mind.

Paul: Oh, did he now?

Victor: Sweetheart, why don't you go to the car? I'll meet you there.

Abby: Oh, yeah.

Victor: I need to talk to paul. So... I hope this puts an end to your damn investigation of my company and my employees. We had nothing to do with zack stinnett and his sex ring.

Paul: Victor, I understand you want to separate yourself from any...perceived involvement. It's no longer my case.

Victor: Paul...

Paul: The feds are handling it.

Victor: You're being disingenuous. Your wife christine is on the task force. You tell her I had nothing to do with it, nor did any of my employees. This is not only bad for my business, but bad for my reputation. Kindly talk to her.

Mariah: Where is crystal now?

Sharon: No one knows. Scott and abby had their hands full with zack, waiting for the police. No one thought to go after her.

Mariah: Wait, they didn't think -- you know what, never mind. I'm just glad that they're both okay.

Sharon: The not knowing, it was pretty intense.

Mariah: Poor crystal. I mean, imagine being so traumatized that you would pick up a gun and actually shoot someone while their back is turned, even someone as evil as zack.

Sharon: She was pushed to the edge so many times. That kind of terror is cumulative. She was probably afraid for her life, figured she would never feel safe as long as zack was alive.

Mariah: Have you been in contact with her?

Sharon: Who, crystal?

Mariah: Yeah, I mean, you seem to know exactly what she's thinking and feeling. Do you know where she is now?

Sharon: No. If I did, I'd be out there trying to make sure she was safe.

Mariah: Wait, has anyone told tessa any of this?

Sharon: I called her and asked her to meet me here so i could tell her in person. She should be here any minute.

Mariah: Oh! Well, you know what, I'm gonna get out of your hair, then. I got to get to work anyway. I mean, hilary has me so, so busy lately.

Sharon: Wait, mariah. Hold on.

Mariah: What?

Sharon: You are not leaving until you tell me why.

Mariah: I just told you.

Sharon: No, I mean, the real reason, which I suspect has a lot more to do with tessa than it does hilary.

Abby: I swore to myself that I was gonna take things slow. And I did. For once. And when I finally fell for the guy, he turns about to be lower than pond scum.

Victor: Sweetheart. He must have been awfully convincing to get past your defenses.

Abby: He was.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Abby: And you want to know the punch line?

Victor: What?

Abby: I believe that he actually loved me. I hate him for everything that he did.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Abby: But in my mind's eye, all I can see is the way that he looked at me after he was shot. It was like he was staring into my soul, telling me that I was responsible for what happened.

Victor: Oh, sweetheart... I'm so sorry.

Neil: Ah, there he is. Gloria said you were working from home today. You know, you missed a foundation meeting this morning. I left you a voicemail. You didn't call me back.

Jack: [ Coughs ]

Neil: Everything okay? You look a little rough.

Jack: Yeah, I'm -- I'm sorry, neil. It's probably better I, uh, stay isolated.

Neil: Whoa, whoa. So, yeah, there's a nasty flu bug going around.

Ashley: Hi, neil. What are you doing out here? Why don't you come in?

Neil: Hey, um, jack doesn't want me to catch whatever it is that he has.

Ashley: Oh, how considerate of jack.

Neil: Yeah. Well, um, why don't we reschedule when you're feeling better, okay?

Jack: Yeah. Thanks, neil.

Neil: I'd shake your hand, but you're sick. Ashley, good to see you.

Ashley: You, too. Do you want me to have mrs. Martinez make you some chicken soup?

Jack: Neil saw that I was working at home. He naturally assumed that I was sick.

Ashley: And you didn't want to straighten him out because you're afraid he's gonna run into our mother.

Jack: It's bad enough that she's on bail for stabbing nikki. If she comes down in some bizarre state and he happens to be here, he's gonna know right away something is wrong. I'm not putting our mother through that.

Ashley: Your heart's in the right place, but we can't hide her away forever, though.

Abby: I feel like such an idiot.

Victor: Why? Why do you say that?

Abby: For getting emotional over that creep.

Victor: Sweetheart... I got to tell you a little secret. You may not know, but I get emotional, too, you know. When I'm by myself.

Abby: Well, I guess I didn't see that side of you when we were standing in front of a crowd at the top of the tower at what was supposed to be my party celebrating my accomplishments, and I listened to you announce victoria as coo.

Victor: Sweetheart, I'm so sorry about that, okay?

Abby: Well, you obviously didn't trust me with the truth about the brash & sassy acquisition.

Victor: It had nothing to do with trust, my sweetheart. It had nothing to do with that. Okay? It just -- we had to keep it under wraps and could only come out with it at an advantageous time.

Abby: Advantageous to victoria.

Victor: No! To our company. To all of us.

Abby: Even though you knew it would hurt me. Dad, when everyone else in this family abandoned you, I stood behind you. I worked my tail off to earn your respect. Does that mean nothing?

Victor: Sweetheart, it means everything to me. I love you. I adore you, okay? And you work harder than almost anyone else, but...

Abby: Yeah. There's the "but."

Victor: Yeah, and you will have a big role in the company. We have enormous problems to solve, and you're just not quite ready to deal with some of those problems on this high of a corporate level. I don't want to play favorites, but you're not close to what victoria's capable of. Right now, I need someone with a lot of experience to deal with these problems.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

"The young and the restless" will continue.

Mariah: Oh, no, no. No more caffeine for me. I really have to be getting to work.

Sharon: So that you don't run into tessa?

Mariah: Okay, well, I got to go.

Sharon: No. Sit down. Sit. You are avoiding her, and you're stalling devon. Is that because of what you told me, about your feelings for tessa?

Mariah: I just think it's best if I keep some distance right now.

Sharon: From who?

Mariah: Everyone.

Sharon: You never told me if you took my advice. Did you have a heart-to-heart with her and tell her how you felt?

Mariah: Yes, actually, I did.

Sharon: How did that go?

Mariah: She basically told me to back off. Not in those exact words, but i could tell she was trying to be nice about the whole situation. She said what she has going with noah is a good thing and that she just wanted to be friends.

Sharon: Well, I'm sorry. That had to be painful.

Mariah: Yeah. It was horrible. The whole time, I was just sitting there, like, "come on, lady! I'm here baring my soul to you right now, and all you've got for me is friends? Thanks, but no thanks."

Sharon: So where does that leave devon? I mean, I know you've blown him off for thanksgiving, but with everything you're saying, I'm getting the feeling that you don't want to be with him, period.

Mariah: I don't know what i want. I feel like I'm stuck in a holding pattern.

Sharon: Devon's been really good to you, mariah, and he cares about you. That's clear.

Mariah: I know. [ Chuckles ]

Sharon: Okay, well, then stop leading him on. I mean, it's not fair to either one of your that you walk around with these conflicting emotions.

Mariah: All right, well, then it's settled. I'm not gonna walk around, I'm just gonna crawl into a hole with a lifetime supply of caramels and hope that everybody forgets about me one day.

Sharon: You're going to have to decide whether or not you want to be with devon. And whether that answer is yes or no, you still need to be honest. Not about tessa, necessarily. That's up to you if you want to confide that, but honest about not reciprocating his feelings and needing to back out of a romantic commitment.

Mariah: Well, that sounds like torture. But I know that you're right.

Sharon: So, when are you gonna do it? And by when, I mean, how soon?

Mariah: Tomorrow. I'll talk to him then. But why does it have to be so hard?

Abby: Dad, I can accept that victoria has more experience in business, but you have to admit, my track record is better. Unlike my sister, I didn't bankrupt a company that was thriving a year ago.

Victor: Sweetheart, I think you'd better sit down.

Abby: Why?

Victor: Because I have to tell you something that you won't like to hear.

Abby: Okay. I'm listening.

Victor: While you were gone, the fbi marched into my office, told me they closed down all company bank accounts, and then they proceeded to take all the company computers. All because of the damn sex ring!

Abby: Our company had no involvement in the sex ring.

Victor: You better tell that to the authorities. By bringing this zack stinnett into the company, you not only brought shame on newman enterprises but you made it impossible for us to conduct business. I can't even do payroll unless I'm cleared of this nonsense!

Abby: Look, I came into work to help deal with the aftermath. Obviously I wasn't expecting this, but you can't pin this all on me.

Victor: Oh, yeah?

Abby: Dad, I brought the idea to you. You said you had zack checked out! Why not blame your investigators? They were obviously sleeping at the wheel!

Victor: I will! Trust me, I'll blame them. They'll hear from me! He did business out of newman enterprises. You have to bear some responsibility for this!

Abby: I understand. I'll make sure something like this never happens again.

Victor: Good.

Sharon: I know it all comes as quite a shock.

Tessa: "Shock" is an understatement. I mean... I thought once we saved crystal from zack that she would feel safe.

Sharon: We all thought that.

Tessa: I guess she would never be free of him emotionally.

Scott: Hey. Sharon told you what happened?

Tessa: Yeah.

Scott: I want you to know abby and I owe crystal our lives. There's no doubt in my mind that zack was about to pull that trigger. Listen, we'd be dead if she hadn't taken him out.

Tessa: You don't know where she went afterwards?

Scott: I wish. We owe her a great, big thank-you.

Tessa: Did she say anything? I mean, give you any clue where she might have gone?

Scott: No. If I could help you, I would.

Sharon: I know you're worried that she's gonna be arrested for murder and hoping that you will find her before the police do.

Tessa: If crystal would have stayed, I think they would have understood that she had been traumatized. I mean, maybe sent her for treatment instead of prison. But she ran, which is not gonna look good to a judge.

Scott: Look, I'm truly sorry to have to say this, tessa. After what happened today, i think you should really prepare yourself. It's possible you'll never see your sister again.

Ashley: So, of course, i asked abby to come stay with us for a while and recover from her ordeal. She would have none of it. Thank you.

Jack: Well, she's got a mind of her own. Gee, I wonder where she got that. I cannot tell you how thrilled i am she's okay.

Ashley: I know. Considering everything, it is a miracle.

Jack: And one less family member we have to worry about.

Ashley: I did not tell abby, however, about dina stabbing nikki.

Jack: Couldn't bring yourself to tell her?

Ashley: She's gotten very close to her grandmother. I did tell her, though, that, you know, she's no longer able to function in the corporate world. But I didn't tell her that her grandmother's become violent. Jack, you know what I said before -- we can't hide mother away indefinitely. We can't pretend to the world that's she capable and competent of living on her own.

Jack: There's got to be some specialist, some expert, somebody who can help mother before it's too late.

Ashley: From everything i know, isn't it already too late?

Jack: Don't say -- I don't want to hear that!

Ashley: Well, we could go on looking for second opinions and find somebody with questionable credentials who would tell us what we want to hear. Jack, the truth is, our mother is losing the ability to process information bit by bit. That's what this disease does. It chips away at a person's memory, and their personality...

Jack: Stop. Stop. Just -- just stop, please!

Ashley: That's what I've read.

Jack: I don't want to hear this!

Ashley: Okay, look, maybe we can't save her, but we can roll up our sleeves and we can try to do the best for as long as we can with our new normal.

Jack: And how do we do that?

Ashley: I think we should start looking for places that could help her professionally when the time is right.

Jack: What are you talking about? Packing mother off to some place so she's not an inconvenience to us?

Ashley: Jack, that's not --

Jack: No! No way in hell!

Ashley: Settle down.

Scott: About that talk we need to have?

Abby: Can it wait?

Scott: No. No, it can'T. Look, we broached the subject when we were trapped, but I just need to ensure that no one will ever know what happened between us.

Abby: And you really think that having this discussion at your girlfriend's place of business is a good idea?

Scott: Abby, I'm being serious.

Abby: Okay, fine. You want to talk about it? Our little, um...

Scott: Tryst?

Abby: Stop calling it that.

Scott: Okay.

Abby: Our encounter is the last thing on my mind, okay? In fact, I had forgotten about it until you just brought it up. Clearly, you haven'T. And, don't worry, I'm not gonna go around bragging to people that I had sex with my co-worker in a storage locker.

Scott: So we agree. It was no big deal.

Abby: [ Laughing ] Oh, no. No, no, no, no. It was not a big deal. In fact, it was a very little deal. Yeah, it was so tiny -- so tiny in fact that I hardly knew what was happening.

Scott: You know, if things don't work out for you at newman, maybe you could become a comedian.

Abby: Oh!

Scott: I heard that lucrative, at least, if you're funny. Which I guess rules you out, so never mind.

Abby: [ Laughs ] You are so obnoxious!

Sharon: Stop it, right now! Both of you.

Jack: I cannot believe you are even talking of putting our mother in a facility for the hopeless. We've only recently gotten confirmation that --

Ashley: You're putting words in my mouth.

Jack: Am I really?

Ashley: Yes. What I said was when the time comes. I don't want to do this right away. Of course not. But the truth is, jack, our mother's just gonna get worse. It's gonna be beyond our capabilities to take care of her. Alzheimer's doesn't just affect the patient. It affects the families of the patient.

Jack: You're talking about her like she's already gone. I had a conversation with her as recently as yesterday -- a normal conversation.

Ashley: I know, and she seems fine, I know, like nothing is wrong. But we know what's coming, and we have to be ready for it. I mean, already her behavior is erratic. She's dangerous. Look what she did to nikki.

Jack: That was a one-time aberration. That was an anomaly.

Ashley: Jack, we know what caused it. We have to be realistic about how we're gonna handle it. This disease puts such demands on the family --

Jack: You know what -- you know what, you don't have to worry about it at all. I will take care of mother. You can go on with your life as you wish.

Ashley: Jack, that's not fair.

Jack: No, listen to me. You don't worry about it. I'll take care of it!

Ashley: Stop it. She's my mother, too, and I'm going to be involved.

Jack: By doing what? By visiting her in this place you've shipped her off to? What, once a month? Do you know what a place like that would do to our mother? She is a vital, vibrant, intelligent woman!

Ashley: For now! You are a busy... a busy man heading up a huge corporation. How are you gonna have enough attention to give to your mother and your company? How are you gonna be able to do this?

Jack: I will manage.

Ashley: Come on, you're my brother, and I love you. I don't want to fight with you. We need to be strong for each other and for our mother.

Jack: Yeah. So where does that leave us?

Ashley: I'll make you a deal. I'm not gonna talk about this right now. But when the time comes and we can't take care of her the way she needs to be taken care of, we're gonna have to revisit this, okay?

Neil: Yeah, well, let's -- let's schedule the interview for after the convention. Okay, um, I just landed in a meeting, so I got to go. Yeah. Perfect. Thanks. Sorry about that.

Victor: Boy, you're in demand these days, aren't you?

Neil: Well, yeah, it's a good place to be. I heard that abby and scott came back unharmed. That's fantastic news, victor.

Victor: It was a hell of an ordeal for them. So... how do we deal with the rest of the news?

Neil: A lot of people believe that you're somehow connected to a human trafficking operation. Clients and vendors, they're feeling very uneasy. They're wondering how this financial limbo you're in and this dark cloud that's hanging over your head is gonna affect them. Then you've got your potential business partners. You're losing them, victor. They're distancing themselves from newman.

Victor: You're not telling me anything I don't know, neil.

Neil: You asked me to give you the lowdown, so I'm giving it to you.

Victor: I got the lowdown. How do we deal with it?

Neil: I was thinking that we should put together another event. For the press this time. Put you front and center, let you work your magic, your charm, and regain people's confidence.

Victor: All right, let's do it. When and where?

Neil: Victor, the problem with what I just pitched is that a national news outlet just reported that zack stinnett -- he was killed by one of the girls that he used in his sex ring.

Victor: So what -- what does that have to do with us?

Neil: Word on the street -- social media -- is that you somehow used crystal to kill zack and made this all go away.

Victor: Oh, come on. This is patently absurd!

Neil: I agree, but... headlines and innuendo, they're not gonna go anywhere until you get exonerated. Which could take a long time.

Victor: I don't want it to take a long time, neil. You've got to deal with this! Put it away! Shut it down!

Sharon: I can't believe that you two are still sniping at each other. After everything that you've been through, I would have thought that you would at least get it together enough to be civil, but no!

Abby: Well, I'm sorry to get on your nerves. I guess we just rub each other the wrong way.

Sharon: Sit down. So, how are you? Really. And don't say "fine." Because I can't imagine someone who's been locked in a dark, cold storage unit for days thinking they're gonna die if nobody finds them comes out of that if not a little bit shaky, at the very least.

Scott: You know, it's -- it's funny, I never used to be claustrophobic, but between what happened to me in the middle east and now this experience, I think I might calling your crisis line one of these evenings and having one of your fine volunteers peel me off the ceiling.

Sharon: [ Laughs ] Okay, now you're making a joke, which means you're distracting yourself, so it's worse than i thought.

Scott: It was hellish. I felt trapped. But all I could think about was you. And how I couldn't wait to be back in your arms.

Sharon: Oh, my gosh, all i could think about was you, too, and I was so worried about you, and I know that this sounds cliché, but when someone who you care about disappears for that long... the minutes just start seeming like hours. It made me realize how good our relationship is and how strong my feelings for you have become.

Scott: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to...

Scott: No. No, no, no.

Sharon: ...Lay all of this on you at once or make it seem like I'm pressuring you or anything. You know, when you called paul from your car, I -- I could hear the tension in your voice.

Scott: Yeah. Yeah, I remember. I was pursuing zack out in the middle of nowhere, just making sure he didn't spot me, and the reception got really bad. And then all of a sudden, you came on the phone, and you were trying to tell me something, but the signal kept fading, so...what was it?

Sharon: Scott...

scott, I love you.

Sharon: Just...to be safe. Come home to me.

Paul: It's been a while.

Neil: Yeah, paul, that it has.

Paul: What can I do for you, neil?

Neil: Well, I guess you could say I'm here in an official capacity.

Paul: Okay.

Neil: I'm handling public relations for newman enterprises now.

Paul: Ahh.

Neil: I need you to call a press conference, my friend. I need you to make a public statement that the company had no ties whatsoever to the alleged sex ring. Now, we both know that abby and victor, they were unwitting participants who were just two more of stinnett's victims. That man is solely responsible for using designdate as a front for organized prostitution.

Paul: There is no proof of that.

Neil: Paul...

Paul: Neil, this is a joint operation now. The investigation is barely underway. But the one thing we do know is that money was being funneled through newman, which makes it a key player in financing the whole operation.

Neil: Okay. You see, no one inside the company knew that except for zack, who's now dead.

Paul: Like it or not, victor, abby, and the newman organization are implicated. And this will be vigorously pursued. Until we have the truth.

Ashley: How's mother?

Jack: She's reading. Complaining about her ankle monitor. You'd never know anything was wrong.

Ashley: What's the matter?

Jack: I owe you an apology.

Ashley: No, you don'T.

Jack: Yeah, I do. I... I shouldn't have gotten upset. I know none of this is your fault.

Ashley: Jack. It's horrible. It's frustrating. We're both going to need to vent sometimes.

Jack: I think you left out terrifying.

Ashley: Yeah. I'm pretty scared, too.

Jack: I realize now I've been lying to myself about mother, about her condition, about where it's all going... thank god there's one level-headed person in this room. To get her back in our lives again and have her taken away... it all seems unbearable.

Ashley: Yeah, but we're strong people.

[ Voice breaking ] We're gonna get through it.

Jack: Yeah. We have to tell the rest of the family.

Ashley: The sooner, the better.

Jack: And before we let them know, there's someone else we have to tell. How do we tell our mother she has alzheimer's?
