Episode # 11279 ~ The Abbott family rallies around Ashley, Abby lets her guard down with Scott, and Mariah surprises Tessa.

Traci: Oh, sweetie, here.

Jack: Hey. Let me help.

Traci: Oh, no, no. I've got it, jack.

Ashley: Thank you.

Jack: So, I got mother to her suite.

Abby: How is she?

Jack: She's a wreck, as you'd expect.

Traci: I'm sure the woman's in shock.

Abby: She's not the only one.

Ashley: Tonight's been rough on everybody.

Jack: Well, I-if one good thing came from tonight, at least mother sees graham for who he is. All he really cared about was getting her estate. First thing tomorrow morning, she's gonna meet with her lawyer and see that he doesn't inherit a dime. I told her there's no time to waste on that.

Traci: Well, I'm glad to hear that, for her sake. But that's not the only thing that happened tonight.

Jack: It's quite enough, believe me. It's all mother can handle to extricate herself from that parasite. As for everything else, you know, I, for one, could use a break from --

Ashley: Jack, stop. It's okay. You don't have to pretend. I'm pretty sure traci and abby put it together at the restaurant, when mother... blurted it out to half the town. Didn't you?

Abby: How could dina do that to you?

Scott: Dinner okay?

Sharon: Hm? Oh! Yeah. It's fine.

Scott: You didn't eat much.

Sharon: Yeah, I guess I'm just not looking forward to what comes next.

Scott: You sure you don't want me to come along?

Sharon: It's okay. I'll handle it alone. After everything those girls did to rescue crystal, they are going to be very upset.

Scott: Look, alice disappeared. I know it's frightening, but it doesn't mean she's gone forever. I mean, the police aren't helpless.

Sharon: But they had her in a place where they could have questioned her, and now they don'T. Which makes it that much harder to find these traffickers. I have to wonder if they're ever gonna get to the bottom of who's behind this.

Tessa: Mariah? Hello? Is anybody here? Hello?

Mariah: Hey. I thought you left.

Tessa: Oh. I just heard from sharon. She wants to see us.

Mariah: Here? Now?

Tessa: Yeah. I have no idea why. While we wait, can we go back to that conversation we were having before hilary interrupted? It feels like... there was a lot we both need to say.

Mariah: No. We can'T.

Tessa: We're alone, aren't we? I mean, hilary isn't hiding back there somewhere.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ] No, there's nobody else here. But I just don't think there's anything to talk about.

Tessa: For me there is. I told you, I couldn't sleep at noah's last night because of all the things that we need to say to each other. I mean, maybe some things that we've been too afraid to say out loud?

Mariah: Afraid? Tessa, since when am i afraid to say anything? I speak my mind. I throw it all out there and have people deal with it. I always have done that, even when it gets me into trouble.

Tessa: I don't get why you're shutting me down like this. Look, I could tell before that you were glad that I finally said something.

Mariah: Well, then, you obviously misread me.

Tessa: I don't think so.

Mariah: Look, tess... if you don't know me well enough by now, I-I'm not sure that I can help you. We've been friends for months. You're even dating my brother. Hell, you're -- you're living with him, now.

Tessa: Mariah...

Mariah: Look, we're as close as two friends could be. And if I thought that there was something that needed to be discussed, I would bring it up. In a heartbeat. But there isn'T.

Scott: Hey, zack.

Zack: Oh, hey, you two. Nice to see you.

Scott: You too.

Sharon: Uh, well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I was just leaving.

Zack: Hope it's nothing I said.

Sharon: What? Oh. No, of course not. Nothing. No.

Zack: Is everything okay?

Sharon: Uh, yeah. It's fine. I'm just on my way to see my daughter and her friend. I'm sure I'll see you around. Thanks again for dinner.

Scott: It was my pleasure. And just let me know what happens.

Sharon: I will.

Scott: Okay. Bye.

Sharon: Bye.

Scott: No abby tonight?

Zack: Family event.

Scott: She didn't bring you along? I thought you had your feet way under that newman table.

Zack: Small gathering. I wasn't expecting an invite. And it's the abbotts this time, not the newmans.

Scott: You two have been seeing each other for quite a while now.

Zack: Yeah, well, lately, I think we're in one of those "two steps forward, one step back" phases.

Scott: I'm sorry to hear that.

Zack: She's been kind of giving me mixed signals, like maybe she'd rather just stick to business, but then there are other times where it's all systems go.

Scott: It could be she doesn't want the project to suffer down the road if things, you know, don't work out. Workplace romances aren't always the smartest idea.

Zack: Yeah, thanks. I'll keep that in mind.

Scott: Yeah.

Zack: You know, I've been reading hashtag pretty much every day since you took it over.

Scott: Oh. All right. What's the verdict?

Zack: I'm a fan.

Scott: Don't let abby hear you say that.

Zack: Seriously, man. It's addictive. Hard-hitting, thought-provoking. I like that you get to hear all sides of the debate.

Scott: Well, we try.

Zack: I mean, every piece has a clear point of view, but it's still provocative and balanced. You do a nice job of representing a wider viewpoint.

Scott: Thank you. That was a thoughtful analysis. I appreciate you sharing that with me.

Zack: You know, I keep looking out for that series you said you were working on. The one about the, uh, sex-trafficking rings. Haven't seen anything, though. Does that mean your leads dried up?

Graham: Yes, hello. I need to book a flight from genoa city to boca raton, florida. As soon as possible. Tonight. Are there any seats available?

Ashley: Wow. What a way to cap off the evening. From innovator of the year to outsider in my own family.

Jack: Wait, wait. You will never be that, ever.

Traci: Have you known about this all along?

Ashley: Well, not all along, but for years. I mean, for decades. Jack has known.

[ Sighs ] It got out. A few people found out, despite my best efforts to keep it quiet. And I tried to contain it to as small a group as possible.

Traci: Which didn't include me, apparently.

Ashley: Oh, traci --

Traci: No, you made the choice not to share your secret with me. Did you think that I couldn't be discreet?

Jack: No, no, no. Traci, that was not the issue.

Ashley: I didn't want to burden you with such painful information.

Traci: Burden me? Ashley!

Ashley: This isn't fair of you. Because it would have become your secret, too. And most importantly, I didn't want dad to find out.

Traci: Well, you were absolutely right to keep it from him. It would have devastated daddy. But he's been gone for years, and you still didn't say anything!

Ashley: [ Sighs ] I was trying to block it out of my mind, traci!

[ Crying ] Which was a lot easier to do before dina got back into town.

Traci: Which certainly explains why you've had such a hard time trying to forgive her.

Abby: What about me? Hm? You didn't want me learning that victor was my father, so you hid it from me, the same way you hid that john abbott wasn't my grandfather!

Ashley: This is my father. John abbott is your grandfather. This is what I've always felt, abby. It's what I've always believed. But I'm so sorry. I'm sorry, honey.

Traci: Abby, that hasn't changed.

Jack: It certainly hasn'T. And it never will.

Ashley: Look, I appreciate both of you saying that, but... honey, I can understand why you're upset. Especially since it's gonna become public knowledge.

Jack: Hilary has promised me she is not going to air --

Ashley: Oh, jack, do you really think we're gonna stop this from coming out? Her cameraman was there. The wait staff heard it. Our friends and colleagues heard it. This is the kind of thing that travels at warp speed, jack. It's the kind of gossip that people feel entitled to have an opinion about. I know this is about me. It's also about you. That hasn't been lost on me, honey. It's all because my mother couldn't keep her mouth shut. She promised to take this to her grave.

[ Crying ]

Tessa: You're just so different than you were before.

Mariah: [ Scoffs ] Not really.

Tessa: I felt like we were connecting. On the same page.

Mariah: We are. Except about this one thing.

Tessa: Well, then, let's fix that.

Mariah: Nothing's broken.

Tessa: Why are you doing this? I could see in your eyes how much you were holding back.

Mariah: Well, I'm sorry that you misunderstood where I was coming from. But that's all that it was. Just a misunderstanding. One that we can both move on from.

Tessa: [ Scoffs ]

Sharon: Hi! I texted. But when you didn't reply, i hoped that tessa would pass along the message that I was on my way.

Tessa: Mariah and I were just catching up. So, uh, what did you want to see us about?

Sharon: Um... well, I have some news. It's a little disturbing. It's about alice johnson.

Tessa: Wh-what happened? Did the cops arrest her?

Mariah: Yeah, I thought paul wanted to question her?

Sharon: Well, that didn't pan out. When the officers got to the house, no one was there. They'd all taken off, including alice.

Tessa: So she's gone.

Mariah: No surprise there. You guys gave her a pretty decent head start.

Sharon: And there's more. When alice was headed out of town, she was hit by a car. But the police believe that it wasn't an accident. Whoever did it was targeting her.

Mariah: Is she all right?

Sharon: No. Far from. She went to the hospital. She has serious injuries. And paul thinks she's lucky to be alive.

Tessa: [ Stammers ] It had to be her boss.

Sharon: It looks that way. Scott and I went to the hospital to persuade her to cooperate with paul's investigation, and when we got there, her room was empty.

Mariah: She ran away?

Sharon: Or staggered. I mean, considering her injuries, it doesn't look good.

Mariah: Meaning she's still in danger.

Sharon: Before we left for the hospital, we were told that she was still unconscious from the injuries. Now, it's possible that she woke up, and she got her things, and she left.

Mariah: Or someone came back to finish the job.

Sharon: Unfortunately, that's possible, too.

Tessa: Oh, god. What if this person got her to talk?

Sharon: Tessa, I really doubt --

Tessa: No! Alice could have had information forced out of her. Information that could lead her boss to crystal.

Scott: I'm a little behind. But the trafficking series, uh, is coming along well. I'm writing it myself, and it's gonna be everything I promised, and more. I just want to ensure that I get all the details right.

Zack: Sounds like you've hit a few road blocks.

Scott: Comes with the territory. Every piece I've written that was worthwhile, it's hit a snag or two along the way. It's a complicated story with lots of moving parts.

Zack: Maybe you should turn your attention to something else. Write about a subject that's more in your wheelhouse.

Scott: Nah. Honest, as I say, it's the nature of the beast. Sources are tough to pin down whenever you're writing about criminal activity. People don't line up to tell you what they're doing when they're breaking the law. Sometimes they run in the opposite direction.

Zack: Well, I'd talk to you. About my dating app, in case you're looking for something else to write about while you wait for your sources to come around.

Scott: I don't know how ethical that'd be, for me to do a glowing write-up on abby's division when, uh, designdate and hashtag are under the same corporate umbrella.

Zack: Rules. Sometimes they are made to be broken.

Traci: Here in this house, no one is judging you. No one thinks you're any less. And certainly not less an abbott.

Jack: The thought never crossed my mind.

Abby: Family is family.

Ashley: Oh, please stop. Just stop trying to comfort me, okay? There's only one person I want to hear from, and that's dina. I want to hear why we all have to go through this.

Jack: Honey, it wasn't intentional.

Ashley: Do you think that makes it any easier, jack?!

Jack: Listen to me. She blurted it out. She was in distress. She had just learned that graham was brent's stepson.

Ashley: I never want to hear that name again.

Traci: Probably dina's feeling the same way. Finding out that the man that she trusted and counted on is only in it for money and revenge.

Ashley: She needed to know the truth. Didn't she? She needed a wake-up call, and I gave it to her. But to have the world know my most intimate and painful things, I mean... that's my punishment for trying to help my mother? Isn't that ironic?

Jack: Honey, I know this is painful. If there is one sliver of good, it is that, tomorrow, graham will be out of mother's will. He will have no reason to stay in genoa city. He'll be on a plane going off somewhere, and we can all get on with our lives as if he never had existed.

Sharon: Crystal is fine. Paul has already assured me of that. That's why she had to go into protective custody -- so that she would be protected. You know, alice, however... that's a different story.

Mariah: You're saying she has to fend for herself.

Sharon: Unfortunately, yes.

Tessa: Are the police still looking for her?

Sharon: Yes, very diligently. Unfortunately, they haven't found any leads.

Mariah: Hey. Your sister is safe. I mean, that's something positive that we can hold on to.

Sharon: Absolutely.

Mariah: You know, the guy at the graveyard, he saw us all. And, I mean, you really got in his face. I thought he was gonna shoot you.

Sharon: What are you getting at?

Mariah: That we are not in protective custody. But should we be? I mean, are -- are we in any danger?

Scott: I may not be able to report on the app myself, but I do know some people at other magazines that might be willing to give you some exposure.

Zack: You'd seriously do that for abby?

Scott: Designdate's serving the public, right? Giving people a way to connect?

Zack: That's exactly what it's doing.

Scott: Well, then I don't mind lending a hand. As long as you don't tell her that I'm the one who helped out.

Zack: Here is my contact info so you can pass it along.

Scott: Thanks.

Zack: You know, I can't quite figure you out.

Scott: Oh, yeah? How's that?

Zack: I mean, you and abby aren't really friendly. So why would you reach out and offer to do something like this if you know it'll benefit her?

Scott: Look, I don't know what abby's told you, but I'm not a bad guy. We just -- we're just very different types. Never gonna be on the same page. And newman's a big place. There's plenty of room for all of us to do well.

Zack: Yeah. No offense, but I'm not buying it. If I didn't know that you were seeing sharon, I might wonder if I have a reason to be jealous.

Scott: Huh. You know what? You're right. I shouldn't be helping you. You're on your own.

[ Slaps knee ] Good luck, pal.

Graham: Yes. I'll be on a flight there later tonight. So much has happened. No, mother. Not over the phone. It's best if I tell you everything in person. Right. The sooner I get there, the better it'll be for everyone involved.

Abby: I hate to see you so torn up. Please let me help. What can I do?

Ashley: Honey, there's nothing you can do. I wish I could go back in time and stop dina from coming back to genoa city. I wish I could go back further and just stop her from having that affair with brent davis.

Abby: No, then you wouldn't have been born.

Ashley: I just feel like such a fraud.

Traci: Ashley, I will say this until it sinks in -- you are not a fraud. You're my sister.

Jack: She's right. Dad raised you. That is all that matters. Now, please sit down, take a deep breath. You're getting all worked up --

Ashley: Jack! I love you so much. You've been so great tonight. Thank you for that. But don't tell me how to feel. This is something that I've hated about myself for so long. And it's cost me. But I thought I-I had it in a bottle, do you understand? I thought I had control over it. I felt confident that the world would always see me as ashley abbott. It's gonna be a real struggle for me to get back to that place now that they're gonna know who I really am.

Traci: We'll help you.

Ashley: Oh! Look... you're saying all the right things. I wish I could be more grateful. I just feel like I'm suffocating. I feel like I can't breathe. This is, what? It's a preview of my life, this pity? You feel sorry for me.

Jack: No, no, no. No one in this room pities you.

Ashley: Oh, god. I can'T. I got to -- I got to get some air.

Jack: Ash. Ash!

Traci: Ashley, please don't go. Just give us a little time.

Ashley: No.

Traci: [ Sighs ] Oh, no.

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

Sharon: I want you girls to listen to me. When alice first went missing, one of my first questions for paul was whether we needed to be concerned about our own personal safety.

Mariah: And what did he say?

Sharon: Well, he reminded me that alice knew a lot. She was looking after the girls. She knew about their comings and goings with their clients. She was working right at the heart of the local operation. Plus, she could identify the people at the top, who christine and the feds are really after. The three of us, we know nothing.

Tessa: Nothing? Come on. I mean, you put together what alice was up to and how it tied into crystal, and we found the house.

Sharon: It's old news. All the traffickers have scattered. I mean, could they come after us now? Sure. But why?

Tessa: Revenge?

Sharon: That would be taking a lot of risk for very little reward.

Tessa: So you're saying there's not a lot we can do about it, so try not to dwell on it.

Sharon: That's a good way of putting it.

Mariah: So, is, uh -- is that it? Are we done?

Sharon: That's everything I came here to tell you.

Mariah: You should probably be getting back to your place. Noah's probably wondering where you are.

Tessa: Yeah, you're right. I should pick up dinner and go home.

Mariah: Cool. Well, uh, don't let us keep you.

Tessa: Night, sharon. Thank you. For filling us in. And if you hear anything more about alice --

Sharon: Yeah, I'll be in touch. Night, mariah.

Mariah: Yeah. See ya.

Sharon: Is something going on between you and tessa?

Traci: So, this brent person, is that the only other man that mother turned to?

Jack: "Turned to"? Boy, there's a turn of phrase. I don't know. You'd have to ask mother. Though people who knew her back then would probably tell you he wasn't the only one.

Traci: Ugh. Poor daddy.

Jack: Mercifully, though, he was the only one that dad found out about. At least, to the best of my knowledge.

Traci: I hope ashley's okay.

Jack: Well, so do I. I know she needed her space, but I-I wish she'd stayed here with people who love her and can support her.

Abby: Wait, what are we talking about? We're talking about my mom, ashley abbott. She's one of the strongest people I know. The world doesn't decide who she is. She decides that for herself. What?

Jack: Honey, I don't mean to alarm you -- and you're right. You mother is strong. She's as strong as they come. But years ago, before you were born, she found out about this. And she had to struggle with the fact that the man she loved and knew as her father was not her father. It was a terrible time.

Traci: It was a period where she lost her memory, and she went missing for a while. That's when she found out about this, isn't it?

Jack: She had a terrible time dealing with the truth. She had a total breakdown.

Abby: You don't think that could happen again, do you?

Traci: No, honey. No, I honestly don'T.

Jack: No, aunt traci's right. She's stronger now. She's -- she's a different person.

Abby: So, when do you think mom will be back?

Jack: [ Sighs ] Soon, I hope.

Traci: And, you know, maybe we should talk about this. When she gets back, I think we need to be careful of overwhelming her. Concern, yes. But hovering, no.

Abby: You're trying to tell me that I should go.

Jack: Uh...yeah. Maybe. You know, she comes back, she gets some rest... we can start fresh tomorrow.

Abby: Okay.

Jack: Abby?

Abby: You know, I've always felt caught between the abbotts and the newmans. Now I'm even more confused.

Traci: Oh, honey. Come on, honey. [ Sighs ]

Mariah: I don't know what you're talking about. Everything is fine with tessa.

Sharon: You say that, but watching you two girls together, hearing the tone you were using with her --

Mariah: Tone? What tone? I think you're reading into things that don't exist. Ashley? Hi. Are you... looking for someone? If you're looking for hilary, she already left.

Dina: This is all about brent davis? Ashley's father, brent davis?

Sharon: Ashley? Are you okay? What's going on?

Ashley: I'm sorry. Nothing.

Mariah: I hope ashley's okay. She seemed kind of... I don't know. Kind of off. What's your take?

Sharon: That you're avoiding my question about tessa.

Mariah: [ Scoffs ] Sharon, trust me, everything is fine between us. We're besties.

Sharon: So, no issues.

Mariah: No. Why would you even go there?

Sharon: Well, tessa and noah just moved in together.

Mariah: And...?

Sharon: Well, it's a sign they're getting serious. Sometimes that can put a strain on a friendship.

Mariah: Well, not in our case.

Sharon: You're not at all worried that you might end up feeling left out?

Mariah: No, sharon. No. Not in the slightest. I mean, you couldn't be more wrong. Noah and tessa are a great couple, and I couldn't be happier for them. I mean, I can't believe my -- my closest friend and my brother are getting serious. Of all the people in the world.

Zack: Oh, hey, tessa.

Tessa: Oh. Hey. Uh... I was just gonna --

Zack: It looks like you're in a rush. Go ahead.

Tessa: Uh, just so you know, crystal's okay.

Zack: You're kidding. What happened?

Tessa: It's a long story. It's pretty intense. But my friend mariah helped a bunch. But the person who really made it possible was this woman on the inside. I mean, if she wouldn't have had a change of heart, we never would have gotten crystal out.

Zack: I hope I get to meet her. This woman, I mean.

Tessa: Why?

Zack: Because I'm happy for you. I'd like to thank her in person.

Tessa: She vanished. She got into a really bad accident. Well, I wouldn't call it an accident. But she got taken to the hospital, and pouf! She's gone from her room.

Zack: Whoa. That does not sound good.

Tessa: It's really disturbing. I mean, I don't know if she's in danger or not.

Zack: I guess the old phrase rings true. No good deed goes unpunished.

Tessa: Wow, that's a crappy thing to say.

Zack: You're right. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be insensitive. Chalk it up to a long day. The important thing is that crystal's okay.

Tessa: And rid of those horrible people. Hopefully when the cops find them, they'll all go to prison. Every last one of them.

Zack: You really think that'll happen?

Tessa: It will if I have anything to say about it.

Scott: Looking for someone?

Abby: Are you kidding me? Don't sneak up on me like that.

Scott: Oh, my bad. Fyi, if you're looking for your boyfriend, he's not here. Although I did, uh, run into him at the club a little while ago.

Abby: If you're referring to my business partner, no, I am not looking for him.

Scott: Interesting coincidence. Zack seemed up in the air about how to label your relationship, too.

Abby: All right, can we not do this tonight? Our typical back-and-forth? I'm really not in the mood to be sniping with you.

Scott: Hey, you feel like talking? That was a genuine offer.

Abby: It's been a real day for both of my families.

Scott: Yeah, I saw the clip of nick's appearance on "the hilary hour." Which explains the newman side of things, but... did something happen with the abbotts, as well?

Abby: You know, you are a real stickler for accuracy. Maybe I should be, too. Stop going around claiming to be an abbott.

Traci: So... one of the reasons mother left town when she did was --

Jack: Was to keep dad from finding out about ashley's paternity. I guess she figured there was less chance of it coming out if she wasn't around.

Traci: [ Sighs ] Dina, considering someone else's feelings first. How novel.

Jack: Yeah.

Traci: Not as if leaving wisconsin for europe was any great sacrifice.

Jack: If you hadn't said it, I would have.

Traci: [ Chuckles ] At least, before daddy died, she understood how crucial it was to keep that secret.

Jack: Traci, you and I both know ashley was dad's favorite. Dina knew he could not handle finding out this information.

Traci: It would have crushed him.

Jack: Hey, look. I know this hasn't been easy on you, and that you're upset with us that we didn't tell you, even after dad died. But ashley was right. Why dredge up all this horrible stuff if we could still keep it hidden?

Traci: I get that. She was trying to protect daddy and herself. But it is out now.

Jack: And it's not easy for you. You or abby.

Traci: Well, we're just gonna have to learn how to live with it. Because ashley is who we need to be concerned with right now.

Jack: It's not like I'm worried that she's gonna spin out entirely like she once did.

Traci: No, but it's really easy to think that that might be exactly what will happen.

Ashley: Mother, I need to talk to you. I need to speak with you. Mother! [ Knocking ]

Sharon: Glad I... misinterpreted things.

Mariah: Happens to the best of us.

Sharon: A little motherly advice?

Mariah: [ Clicks tongue ] If you must.

Sharon: Don't let what's happening between noah and tessa affect the choices you make. I'm talking about devon.

Mariah: Oh.

Sharon: I don't want you worrying about how fast they're moving, thinking you need to do the same. You and devon have had your ups and downs, but things seem to be going well right now. And all relationships are different. They all move at their own pace.

Mariah: True. Uh... but you don't have to worry about me. I'm -- I'm not treating this as a competition. The very last thing that I am is envious or jealous or however you would put it.

Sharon: Well, good. You know, devon was just coming off of a divorce when you two got involved. He was dealing with a lot of complex feelings, and hilary still has a strong hold on him. Whereas noah and tessa, they started fresh. Neither of them were attached. They took their time. They got to know each other --

Mariah: Mom, I get it. I'm just saying, you don't have to worry about tessa and me. No, we're -- we're fine. I just, you know -- I want her to be happy. I just want things to be simple and not complicated.

Sharon: What would complicate things?

Mariah: Nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all.

Scott: What does that even mean?

Abby: [ Sighs ] There are some things going on with my mom, and, um... well, it all blew up tonight at this dinner that we were having to celebrate an award that she got.

Scott: Well, I hope she's okay.

Abby: Me too.

Scott: Listen, tomorrow's the, uh -- the tech conference in madison. And we're both scheduled to be there. But if you need to spend some time with your family and handle stuff, I'm happy to cover for you.

Abby: Don't -- don't be nice to me. It weirds me out. It makes me wonder what your motives are.

Scott: The offer's sincere.

Abby: It's an important conference. I should be there. So I will just check in with my mom and the rest of the...

[Scoffs] The rest of the family. I should go. I should, um... I should get some rest so I am sharp for tomorrow.

Scott: Okay. I'll, uh -- I'll see you there. Abby? Hey. Come here.

Jack: Dina threatened brent in the strongest possible terms. He defied her wishes. He told ashley under the misguided notion that they could somehow build a father/daughter relationship.

Traci: And then she went to hell and back.

Jack: Maybe the worst time of her life. She came home, recovered a bit, and then we found out that davis was gravely ill.

Traci: And she had to deal with this when she was so fragile.

Jack: Yep. He was staying out at katherine'S. Far as I know, they found some peace before he died, but... that could only have happened if very few people knew about it.

Traci: Oh, my gosh. No wonder ashley's been so on edge. I'm sure the whole time she was worried the truth was gonna come out.

Jack: It turns out she was right to be concerned.

Traci: Well, I don't care if it was unintentional. Dina was careless in a public place, when we were there celebrating ashley's accomplishments. This just makes the whole thing so much worse. Our mother wounded ashley so deeply those years ago, now she's just opened the wounds again.

Jack: And this time, there's no covering them up.

Traci: Jack, what can we do to help her?

Jack: I wish I had an answer to that.

[ Both sigh ]

Ashley: Mother, I'm not leaving. I know you're in there. Please open the door. You. I want to talk to my mother. She won't open the door.

Graham: I don't know what you want me to do about it.

Ashley: Well, you have a key, don't you? Open the damn door! Oh, my god! Mother! Mother?

Next on "the young and the restless"...

Victor: If you want our family to be whole again, you move back to the ranch.

Noah: Dad, what were you thinking?

Graham: Your father is pathetic, a loser, just like his illegitimate daughter is today.

Ashley: You son of a bitch!
