Episode # 11210 ~ Nikki prepares for her big night; Kevin shares surprising news; things go from bad to worse for Lily.
Provided By SuzanneChelsea: Bella? What did you just say? You're going to see mommy?
Kevin: She always -- she always says that. Hey, you know what? Why don't you go put this flower in the grass? But stay where I can see you!
Chelsea: What is Bella talking about? Why does she think Chloe is still alive?
Nick: Well, it sounds like you're having a lot of fun, kiddo. Yeah. Oh, I'm way ahead of you. I sent it out a couple days ago. You got some cookies, gum, and comics coming. Yep. But you got to promise me you're gonna share that with your bunkmates, okay? Wait, what? No -- faith, why would you have to come home? No, no, no, no. Grandma and grandpa understand that you're at camp and you're not gonna be able to make it to the concert. Yes. It's okay. Uh, no. No, grandpa's not found a new chess-playing partner, but I will, um... I will tell him. Yes. Well, I really, really miss you, and I know you're having fun, but I wish you were home. Yeah. And I'm for sure gonna give grandma a good-luck kiss from you. Okay. I love you, too. Bye.
Nikki: Victor, you... commissioned a Chelsea 2.0 original for me to wear to the concert?
Victor: I told you I had a surprise for you.
Nikki: And I told you that I didn't want any grand gestures.
Victor: Since when has that ever stopped me?
Nikki: Victor, please. [Gasps] It's breathtaking.
Victor: I just thought that you deserve this, you know? I mean, overcoming your M.S. To give this performance, that -- that is very courageous on your part. Want me to put this on for you?
Nikki: Oh, no, no. I can do it. I can do it. Thank you.
Lily: Thanks for checking in, dad.
Neil: Yeah, sure. No problem. How are things going?
Lily: Not great. Victoria decided to settle.
Neil: You mean because of Juliet's pregnancy?
Lily: Yeah. I mean, it didn't make things magically go away, though.
Neil: I'm so sorry to hear about that.
Lily: Do you have any plans later? I mean, I understand if you're busy.
Neil: Baby girl, I always have time for you. Why don't you meet me at the club? I'm meeting with the C.E.O. Of a company that we just acquired. What do you say, about an hour-and-a-half from now?
Lily: Yeah. Yeah, that works. Um, I got to go. I'll see you soon. Love you. Hey.
Lily: Mattie knows that something is wrong. She thinks you're in trouble at work. I mean, she's not the kind of girl you can fool and get away with it.
Cane: So, what'd you say?
Lily: I covered, but we have to tell them what's going on. Mattie won't stop until she knows the truth, and I want them to hear it from us.
Cane: Can we just hold off just for a little bit if we can?
Lily: Why? Nothing's gonna change.
Cane: Well, that's going to depend on, um... Juliet agreed to the paternity test, so I took her to get it done, and now we just have to wait to see who the father is.
Lily: So, you really think that you're not the father?
Cane: I don't know. Well, we've been here before, haven't we?
Cane: Yeah. She lied and let me think that Delia was my daughter. I almost lost you. I'm not gonna go through that again.
Lily: Well, I really hope you're right, that Juliet is lying. It'd be one less thing for us to deal with.
Cane: There's another thing I should tell you. Um... Victoria just fired me.
Billy: What are you working on?
Victoria: West coast profit-loss statement for the men's line.
Billy: Isn't that cane's job?
Victoria: Cane doesn't work here anymore. I terminated his employment.
Billy: You're kidding, right?
Victoria: Do you think I would joke about something like that? What, you didn't think I'd have the nerve to do it, did you?
Kevin: No. No. It's nothing.
Chelsea: Why does Bella think she's going to see Chloe?
Kevin: "Seeing mommy" is what she says when we go to Chloe's grave. She knows her mom's in heaven.
Kevin: I know a child psychiatrist would say that I'm messing her up for life, I'm sure, but I just -- I don't have the heart to correct her.
Chelsea: I know, I've dealt with the same issues.
Kevin: Yeah, I'm sure. You know, and when Esther takes her to see Chloe, she likes to talk to mommy.
Chelsea: Yeah. I get it. Sometimes late at night, after I've put Connor to bed, I hear him talking to Adam. [Sighs] Although it doesn't happen as often anymore, and that concerns me. I don't want him to forget about his dad, you know? I mean, I leave photos of Adam all over his room, but...
Kevin: It's not the same. I know.
Kevin: I'm sorry, Chelsea. If it wasn't for Chloe, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Chelsea: It's okay. I'm -- I'm okay, and I'm moving forward, and I realized being angry is just not productive. I know you loved her a lot, Kevin, and... I know her death must be so hard on you.
Kevin: Eh, don't worry about me. [Clears throat] I'll get through it.
Chelsea: You know what we should do? We should have a play date. For Connor and Bella. It's been so long since the last one.
Kevin: Yeah, um, well, we're gonna have to take a rain check, and, unfortunately, it's gonna be a while before we can cash it in. Bella and I are moving to Oregon.
Kevin: Yeah. Portland. We leave today.
Chelsea: You're moving and you're leaving today?
Kevin: I can't deal with all the memories. I see Chloe everywhere I go. It's -- it's time for a fresh start. I know that you get that.
Chelsea: I do, and... I know that you will find the happiness that you deserve again.
Kevin: I finally think I will.
Victor: I think it looks beautiful.
Nikki: Oh, victor... the gown and the necklace, it's just... it's too much.
Victor: No, it's not.
Nikki: I know you want to go all-out for this charity benefit, but... nothing has changed between the two of us.
Victor: I hope your time away didn't prevent you from practicing for the concert.
Nikki: No. Not at all. In fact, it gave me more time to prepare.
Victor: Good. I didn't mean to stress you in any way, you know?
Nikki: What did you mean to do?
Victor: I wanted you to have all the support, to make sure that you have a good concert.
Nikki: I'm doing this concert to help everybody who has M.S. And to raise money for a cure.
Victor: All right. Will you do one thing for me?
Billy: You gave cane a free pass on all his other lies. I figured it'd be the same with this one.
Victoria: Well, you were mistaken. I can't and I won't abide an employee whose reckless behavior on company time put us in the middle of a devastating lawsuit. Juliet cost us a small fortune.
Billy: Hey, you don't have to sell me on this, okay? If it was me, I would have gotten rid of him a long time ago for a number of reasons.
Victoria: Yeah, I know. Well, now I have to make up for time lost due to all the many distractions minus two key employees and basically -- [Sighs] I'm screwed.
Billy: What do you need?
Victoria: The willingness to work more hours than you already have, maybe give up your weekends, at least for a while.
Billy: Done and done.
Lily: Well, I can't really say I'm surprised. Given all the lies and the lawsuit, Victoria didn't really have a choice.
Cane: I know. I know. But I'm an asset to the company. I helped make it a success, you know? I had this one little slip-up in Japan, and that was resolved. God, if only Victoria had fired Billy...
Lily: Can you stop blaming everyone but yourself? You're the one who chose to get drunk and you chose to sleep with Juliet and you chose to lie to everyone about it.
Cane: I did, didn't I? I'm sorry. I'm ashamed of myself for what I've done. I'm ashamed for the way I've hurt you. I'm ashamed of the damage I've done to our family. I'm sorry.
Chelsea: Um, so, I just bumped into Kevin at the park. He and Bella are moving. To Oregon. Like, today.
Nick: What? Why?
Chelsea: He said he needed a fresh start.
Nick: Well, I can understand, that, you know. Fresh starts can be great. I got one with you.
Chelsea: I got one with you, too.
Nick: I really hope this move works out for Kevin.
Chelsea: Yeah. So do I. Oh, I passed by chancellor pavilion on my way over. The place is bumpin'. Your father really went all-out for this benefit. I heard you were there.
Nick: Yeah. I was. Mom's back, too, from her mysterious trip.
Chelsea: Where was she?
Chelsea: What was she doing in Colorado?
Nick: She was getting some holistic therapy at this spa she likes.
Chelsea: Why? What's wrong?
Nick: Well, uh, mom doesn't want anyone to know this, but her M.S. Flared up.
Chelsea: No! Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Did the therapy help?
Nick: She claims it did.
Chelsea: "She claims it did." So, what, you don't believe her?
Nick: You know, I saw her playing the piano. It seems like she's in a lot of pain.
Chelsea: Did you tell victor?
Chelsea: Why didn't Nikki tell him?
Esther: Oh, thank you for getting here so quickly.
Gloria: You were blubbering so much on the phone, I couldn't understand a word you were saying. And it's not like you're the crying type, so I knew it was serious. So what's wrong?
Esther: It's Kevin and Bella.
Gloria: What about them?
Esther: They're moving to Oregon, just, out of nowhere!
Gloria: Oregon? As in way out west 1,000 miles away? That Oregon?
Esther: You have to talk him out of it.
Gloria: When did he tell you this?
Esther: Earlier today when he got back from his trip. Which, by the way, he didn't even go to Tahiti!
Gloria: Really? I can't believe he didn't call to tell me he was back. Or anything else. I'm his mother. That's shameful.
Esther: So, you can convince him to stay?
Gloria: Oh, yes, I will talk some sense into him. In fact, I will not leave this sofa until I do.
Kevin: Thank you. Okay, go have fun. Stay close.
Paul: Hey there.
Paul: What the hell happened to your face?
Kevin: Oh, uh... I was hiking. There was a cliff. I don't want to talk about it.
Paul: Okay. Did you get a new phone?
Kevin: Yeah, I was, uh, eligible for an upgrade.
Kevin: Thanks for coming to meet me.
Paul: Sure. I don't know whether to shake your hand or, uh, shake some sense into you.
Kevin: Why do you say that?
Paul: Why do you think? You were MIA. You never stepped foot in Tahiti. You didn't answer your phone. I mean, nobody knew where you were.
Kevin: I'm sorry about that. Go ahead, shake me if you want. I had a last-minute change of plans. I didn't realize it was gonna turn into a game of "where in the world is Kevin fisher."
Paul: Well, why not? I mean, you've got family and friends that love and care about you.
Kevin: Yeah, I know. That makes what I'm about to tell you, uh, difficult.
Cane: I'm not gonna make excuses for myself anymore. Look, I know that this sounds naive, but I truly did think that when Victoria settled with Juliet, this would just go away.
Lily: So, what happens now?
Cane: Well, Victoria had Juliet sign a non-disclosure agreement which means that she can't tell anybody about it, or she forfeits everything. And, uh... it also means that what I did can't become public knowledge.
Lily: Right, unless the baby is yours and becomes a part of our lives, and then your "drunken mistake" affects us for years.
Cane: Hopefully, we'll know the paternity test results soon. Are you going to be able to trust me again?
Lily: The only reason why I know that she spent the night in your hotel room is because I saw the security footage, and you only admitted to sleeping with her because she was pregnant. So I don't know, cane. How am I supposed to trust you again?
Cane: I see.
Lily: Right, exactly. So when you figure that out, you can let me know.
Paul: Okay, I mean, you make some valid points as to why you're leaving, but you're talking about moving away from Michael and Lauren and taking Bella from the only family that she has left.
Kevin: I think this is gonna be good for us. You never know till you try, right?
Paul: [Sighs] Do you have a job lined up, or a place to live? Kevin, have you really thought about this?
Kevin: No, yes, yes. There are plenty of tech jobs in Portland.
Paul: So, this is it. You're leaving today. Not even gonna give me two weeks to find your replacement.
Kevin: I would, but -- I found this great little place. The landlord's expecting me to pick up the keys by the 15th. If I don't, somebody else gets it. How about this? If you need me to, I'll come back and train my replacement.
Paul: You're sure about this, right?
Kevin: As sure as anything.
Paul: You know, I never thought I'd hear me say this, but... I'm really gonna miss you, Kevin.
Nick: Mom didn't know I was watching, but she has too much pride to admit that she's in pain. Nothing I would say could get her to skip the performance. I think she wants to do it just to prove to dad that she can do it, you know? My dad's put in a lot of work. She doesn't want to feel like she let him down or the M.S. Community.
Chelsea: Well, wouldn't victor cancel the concert if he thought that this was a flare-up, if he thought Nikki's health was at risk?
Nick: Mom made me swear not to tell him. I mean, she says she's okay.
Chelsea: Listen, maybe she's telling the truth. Maybe she's just a little sore because she's out of practice.
Nick: Yeah, that might be it. I also know my mom wants this concert to go well. [Sighs] I just wish there was some way for her to avoid doing it without feeling like she was a quitter, you know? What we need is a rain-out, like a torrential downpour, maybe some hail, a touch of lightning.
Chelsea: Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I checked the weather, and tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky.
Nick: Huh. Of course it is.
Chelsea: Listen to me. Trust your mom, nick. Believe that she can handle this. It's very sweet that you're very protective, but Nikki's a strong-willed woman. She'll make the right decision.
Nikki: It is. But as you can see, the hem -- I'm worried that I might trip.
Victor: Give me a minute. Chelsea? Yes, victor. Listen, um, the dress you made for Nikki is absolutely beautiful, but it's a little long, so -- yeah? Could you? Well, that's very nice of you. Thank you. Appreciate it. Here at the ranch. Right. Chelsea's on the way over.
Nikki: You must be very pleased with yourself. Make one phone call, crisis averted. If only the problems between us and our kids could be solved as easily. But they can't. The sooner you realize that, the sooner we can get on with our lives.
Victor: You and I have been married for over 30 years. You know I don't give up. Or do you keep forgetting?
Charlie: Look, you do know that textbook's bigger than all your other ones put together... is that just for show, or what?
Charlie: I'm surprised you even noticed. You still haven't put your eyeballs back in their sockets after staring at all the hot girls in their bikinis.
Charlie: You're just jealous because I have a cool summer job.
Mattie: Yeah, because sitting on a hard chair for hours with a whistle around your neck sounds so scintillating and demanding.
Charlie: Yeah, and sitting in a chair with a book is?
Cane: Hey! Hey, guys.
Charlie: Hey. 'Sup?
Cane: Hey, stop giving your sister a hard time.
Charlie: Yo, but she's --
Charlie: She's such a nerd! I found her in the coffeehouse studying, and it's summer!
Mattie: I'm not a nerd!
Charlie: Dad, can you explain what a nerd is?
Mattie: Shut up, Charlie! So, uh, dad, don't worry about getting me that internship at brash & sassy! I'm gonna ask uncle Devon and grandpa Neil for one, if that's okay with you.
Cane: Okay, um, sit down for a sec. I need to tell you guys something.
Billy: What about a college tour to promote dare?
Victoria: Yeah, that's not a bad idea. We really haven't focused on that demographic, so maybe we should.
Billy: That's true.
Victoria: Lily. Hi.
Billy: Have you talked to cane?
Lily: Yeah, he told me you fired him.
Victoria: I'm sorry that it had to go down that way, but cane left me no choice. I hope you understand.
Lily: I just wanted to say that I'm really sorry that cane's mistakes have hurt brash & sassy! And cost the company a lot of money.
Victoria: Lily, you don't need to apologize. I mean, you are the one who's been most deeply affected by cane's actions.
Lily: So, where do we go from here?
Billy: Well, we still want you to be the brand ambassador for the men's line, if that's what you're asking.
Lily: Yeah, it was.
Victoria: Unless you think that would be too difficult to navigate at home.
Lily: No, no, no, no. No, I -- I love my job, and I'm really excited to jump back in.
Victoria: I have a messenger coming to take cane's personal things home, unless you'd like to take them.
Lily: No, um, that's okay. You can -- you can let the messenger do it.
Mattie: Is this about the lawsuit? I thought you said it was already settled.
Cane: Yeah, no, it's -- it's settled, all right.
Charlie: So, that's great news, right?
Cane: Well, you see, there's um, some extenuating circumstances, and, uh... Victoria had to let me go.
Mattie: Wait. She fired you? That's so not fair.
Charlie: How could she just dump you like that? You --
Cane: Listen, mate, it's her company, it's her choice. She does what she wants.
Charlie: Did you try to change her mind?
Cane: Yeah, I tried.
Mattie: [Sighs] I'm so sorry, dad.
Charlie: You'll get a better job.
Mattie: Way better.
Charlie: Till then, we'll chip in around here.
Mattie: Yeah! I'll forget about my internship, get a job at the coffeehouse so that I can help out, too.
Gloria: Oh! There's my beautiful granddaughter! [Giggles] Come say hi to your beautiful grandmother. [Laughs]
Gloria: Did you have fun in the park with daddy?
Kevin: You should see her somersault, it's perfect.
Gloria: Of course it is.
Kevin: Uh, Esther, do you mind taking Bella for a little bit?
Esther: Uh, sure. Okay. Come on, sweet girl. Guess what? I made your favorite cookies. Yes!
Gloria: What happened to you?
Kevin: I was hiking. I don't want to talk about it. And, mom, I was gonna tell you.
Gloria: Oh, really? When? After you and Bella were already in Potterville?
Gloria: Fine, whatever. What are you doing? You're a single father with a demanding job, and now you're taking Bella away from everybody she loves, and that includes two doting grandmothers, and yes, I do like to babysit!
Kevin: If you care about me, mom, you'll accept this.
Gloria: Don't you dare! I care. I need an explanation I can live with.
Kevin: [Sighs] You know, I'm just tired of all the bad memories, mom. I come in here, and I think about the wedding that didn't happen. I think about Chloe at crimson lights, at my apartment, at top of the tower where I proposed. I just want to forget it all and start fresh.
Gloria: Uh-huh. Liar.
Nikki: Well, hello!
Chelsea: Oh, the dress looks perfect on you! I should know, I designed it.
Nikki: Oh, well, victor is a very good gift buyer, but as you can see by the hem, sometimes everything doesn't go right.
Chelsea: Well, that's okay. I can fix that, no problem. My only concern was since this was a surprise and you didn't have any input in the design it wouldn't work, but I got to tell you, you look amazing. Victor really does know you well.
Victor: How's faith? Is she enjoying her camp?
Nick: Faith is fine. I didn't call you over here so we could talk about her.
Victor: Then why am I here?
Nick: We need to talk about this ludicrous concert.
Victor: This concert is not ludicrous, son. I know you hate my guts, but you show up at the concert on your best behavior. You will not ruin this event for your mother.
Nick: This concert is not for her, it's for you. If you weren't so self-absorbed, you would see how miserable she is and cancel it.
Kevin: I'm not lying.
Gloria: And I'm your mother. Esther may fall for that "I need a change of scenery" crap, but not me. You're a creature of habit, Kevin. Any changes make you nuts. And those memories you say you can't dwell on -- you wallow in them!
Kevin: That's just it, mom! I keep making the same mistake over and over again! I married Chloe two -- almost three times because I couldn't move on, I couldn't forget. Any time I would try, it just wouldn't happen. And, yes, you're right, I do like what's comfortable and familiar, no matter how painful it is. But I don't want Bella to be like that. So I'm gonna step outside my comfort zone and go someplace that is completely different than what I'm used to. And maybe there, I'll find some happiness. I think I've earned that, don't you?
Victor: Let me reiterate. Your mother wants to perform. I'm not twisting her arm, nor do I have ulterior motives.
Nick: Yes, you do, and we both know what they are.
Victor: Do you know that Chelsea's over there right now altering her dress? If your mother had not wanted to perform tomorrow night, she would have told me so.
Nick: No. She wouldn't have. She doesn't want to show you any weakness, dad.
Victor: Son, your mother is not weak. She's a strong woman who speaks her mind, to me and anyone else!
Nick: That's what you want to believe.
Victor: Are you forgetting that your mother suffers from multiple sclerosis? She wants to give this concert to help people who suffer the same dreadful disease. If I called off that concert now, she would be devastated.
Nick: Well, it's better emotional pain that physical.
Chelsea: And you're done!
Nikki: Thank you so much.
Chelsea: My pleasure.
Nikki: It's just exquisite. I can't wait to show it off tomorrow night.
Chelsea: Well, I'm so glad you like it. I will have to take it back to the studio with me, though, so I can stitch the new hem.
Nikki: Oh, yeah, sure. Let me, um... let me try to just get this. It's, um, a little loose. I-I don't want to break it.
Chelsea: Are you okay?
Nikki: Yeah. Yeah. Um...
Chelsea: You know what? Let me. Let me. I'll do it. I'll do it.
Nikki: Okay. Thanks.
Chelsea: It's always easier when someone else does it, right?
Neil: So now cane's out of a job?
Lily: Yep. Afraid so.
Neil: How could he let it get to this point? He could have ended it the moment that the lawsuit was filed.
Lily: Tell me about it. And then Victoria could have settled for a lot less money and cane would still be employed. Unfortunately, the part where he might be a father again would remain the same.
Neil: Whoa. Back up. "Might?" Is there any doubt?
Lily: Juliet agreed to a paternity test, so we'll find out soon enough. But if it turns out that cane did get her pregnant...
Neil: What are you gonna do then?
Lily: I don't know. [Sighs] I don't know. I didn't think I would ever be in this situation.
Billy: I booked Jordan for some new photo shoots with lily. I, uh, sent you the dates. They should be in your inbox.
Victoria: Oh, great. Thank you. I'll take a look in a second.
Billy: Was that conversation awkward earlier with lily?
Victoria: Well, it wasn't exactly a party, but I'm glad lily doesn't hold a grudge against me for firing cane.
Billy: Well, lily's a smart woman. I think she understands it's the only decision you could make. It seems like she's moving past it already. I kind of respect her for that.
Victoria: Yeah. Me, too.
Billy: Hey. Silver lining -- we don't have to deal with her obnoxious husband anymore.
Victoria: Well, your dream come true is my nightmare because I had to let go a very valuable colleague who, despite what you say, did a lot of good for this company. The sad part is, the fallout has just started for lily and the kids. By the way, did I tell you that reed has a crush on their daughter?
Billy: Mattie Ashby? That is the mystery woman?
Victoria: Mm-hmm. He's interested in her. Although, he's not sure how she feels about him. He says that he might take her to a movie sometime soon.
Billy: Does reed know about Mattie's dad?
Victoria: I had to tell him. I couldn't hide that.
Victoria: Oh, no.
Victoria: Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse...
Kevin: Well, this is the last of it. It's time for us to hit the road. Can you be strong for me?
Esther: I'll try. I love you.
Kevin: I love you.
Gloria: We were just getting closer, and you're moving away.
Kevin: I will call, text. We can video chat as often as you like.
Gloria: Mm-hmm. I'm gonna miss you, sweetie. Go see your grandma Esther.
Esther: Come here, honey.
Gloria: You remember -- I love you, angel.
Kevin: I know, mom. I love you, too. Okay. All right. Shall we?
Kevin: Wave goodbye to your grandmas.
Esther: [Crying] Bye. Love you.
Kevin: We love you, too. Wow, that was harder than I thought it was gonna be, but it's for the best. Because you, mommy, and me -- we finally get to be a family. Come here. Oh, baby.
Neil: Have you told Charlie and Mattie about the baby?
Lily: No. The twins worship cane, and he's a good father. If Juliet's wrong about the paternity, I don't want their relationship to suffer.
Neil: How much does Mattie and Charlie know?
Lily: They know that cane was accused of sexual harassment and that that Victoria settled with the woman involved, but they don't know any of the details.
Neil: It's just as well.
Lily: I don't know, I'm just more worried about how to handle this if cane did get her pregnant.
Neil: With the kids or with you and cane?
Lily: Both. It's obvious that our marriage has suffered.
Neil: You know, you, my dear, you have some very, very heavy decisions to make, and I sure hope you're prepared to make them.
Cane: But I want you to keep your summer lifeguard money, okay? And I want you to keep your plans to have your internship, all right? We're gonna be fine. Don't worry about it. We're gonna be okay, all right?
Charlie: Yeah, but... I still can't believe you got the ax...
Mattie: Me, neither. What was ms. Newman thinking?
Cane: Look, I don't know. Sometimes in business, you have to make tough calls, you know, that aren't fair, but that's just the way it goes, all right?
Mattie: Well, when Mattie, inc. -- Trademark pending -- is up and running, I'm gonna hire you to run it for me.
Charlie: No, not even. Look, he's gonna be my manager when I'm number-one draft pick.
Cane: Actually, I kind of hope I get a job before then.
Mattie: Well, no matter what, dad, we know you didn't do anything wrong.
Charlie: Yeah. Look, she's right. You got a raw deal, but we got your back.
Cane: Come here. Come here. What did I do, huh? What did I do to get such wonderful kids?
Billy: "Sales did not meet expectations for spring quarter. All divisions report losses."
Victoria: Yes, that's because we had to scrap the commercial and we had nothing in place promotion-wise when our competitors did.
Billy: You were dealing with factors beyond your control.
Victoria: Yes, but these numbers prove the company's in trouble, and I have to take sole responsibility for this, Billy.
Billy: Okay, this is one quarter, all right? We can bounce back. We'll do whatever it takes. I already said that I'll work extra hours.
Victoria: Yes, I know you said that, and I appreciate it, but this is on me. It's my company and I have to figure out how to keep things afloat.
Nikki: [Gasps] Oh! Victor, I didn't know you were back.
Victor: You still want to perform this concert?
Nikki: You ask me this the day before?
Victor: I just realize now that I encouraged you to do it without asking if you really wanted to do it, you know? You went away to deal with the stress this obviously has put on you, so, uh, if you don't want to perform, then, um, let's call it off right now. I mean, we'll just have a party, raise just as much money for M.S. Research.
Nikki: Where is this coming from?
Victor: I thought you would enjoy giving a performance for a very good cause. For research into the dreadful disease of M.S. But it was too much. If it's really stressing you out, then I'll just call the dean, call it off.
Nikki: No, don't you dare call. There was a time I would have let you, when I suspected that your motivations for putting on this event were to humiliate me, but now that you've told me your true intent -- it doesn't change anything between us, but I am gonna give this concert. Not for you. Not for us. For me.
Nick: How'd it go with my mom?
Chelsea: You were right.
Chelsea: Nikki's in a lot of pain. She tried to cover it up, but it's -- it's obvious. I saw it.
Nick: I just hate what my mom is going through to prove a point to my dad. And my dad thinks she's so strong and noble...
Chelsea: I think she just wants to prove herself to victor and to everybody else.
Nick: But at what cost? I mean, what if performing in this concert triggers another serious flare-up?
Chelsea: I know. I was thinking the same thing.
Nick: I just can't let my mom's willfulness jeopardize her health. We got to stop this concert. I mean, my mom's gonna be so angry at me, but I don't care. For her sake, I can't let this happen.
Next on "the young and the restless"...
Hilary: What exactly did you want to talk to me about?
Victor: The story that the audience actually would like to see.
Nikki: I am more than ready for tomorrow's performance, and you are going to be there to hear it.
Jill: I don't know how your family's ever gonna recover from this.
Cane: I don't know if we will.
