Episode # 11204 ~ Victor quizzes Tessa about Nikki; Dina gives Ashley troubling news; Cane asks Lily for forgiveness.

Provided By Suzanne

Michael: How can this be?

Victoria: Oh, Michael...

Michael: No, seriously! One minute we're fighting Juliet's lawsuit tooth and nail, and now suddenly you decide to settle.

Victoria: Well, I would give anything not to, trust me, but cane has painted me into a corner. Look, I accept that he didn't tell that woman "sleep with me and I will make your career great," but we don't have proof of that. This lawsuit is unwinnable because cane's credibility is completely shot.

Michael: Why? What am I missing? What else happened?

Victoria: Cane admitted that he lied about having sex with Juliet.

Michael: [Chuckles] All right. [Clears throat] I was afraid of that. What made him change his story now, of all times?

Victoria: He had no choice. Juliet's pregnant.

Michael: Oh. Wow. His poor family.

Reed: Hey! Mattie! Um, I was waiting to hear back from you. Are we still on for that movie? Calculus homework, huh? In June? Oh, man, did you flunk and have to take summer school? That's awful. You're like the last person I would think would flunk.

Mattie: I didn't flunk. I'm taking summer classes to get ahead. Junior year's gonna be intense, prepping for SATs and applying for scholarships...

Reed: You volunteered for summer school? What, are you crazy?

Mattie: Crazy-busy, actually. Way too busy to waste time going to the movies.

Jack: You've changed your will to leave everything to him?

Dina: Jack, dear, it's not polite to talk about graham as if he's not in the room. And I'm not giving him everything. Just the bulk of my estate.

Ashley: "Just."

Jack: So this is his reward for being loyal? Wow, you must be good at what you do.

Graham: I'm getting in the way here. Perhaps it's best if I wait outside.

Jack: Oh, trust me, it won't stop me from saying what I want to say if you're sitting here.

Dina: Yes, I think it's a good idea. Well, go ahead. Let me have it. But I knew exactly what I was doing when I signed that will. It represents my final wishes. And even though I know I'm going to be around for quite some time, you better respect them.

Victor: Nikki, you can't avoid me forever, all right? So kindly call me back.

Tessa: Sorry it took me so long to get here.

Victor: That's all right. Please, have a seat.

Tessa: So. Why'd you want to see me?

Victor: Nikki left a note. Before she took off to who knows where saying that she needed to "clear her head." Do you know what that is about?

Tessa: No. I didn't see her before she took off, and even then, she said nothing about going away.

Victor: Now, her concert is in a few days. I hope that she's ready to perform.

Tessa: I understand.

Victor: So she said nothing at all?

Tessa: About leaving?

Victor: Yeah.

Tessa: No. Definitely not.

Victor: And she didn't by chance ask you to keep something from me?

Hilary: Juliet, listen. This is not the end of the world, okay? You are pregnant, which proves that you and cane had sex. That can't hurt your case. It can only help it. Cane has been caught with his pants down, but you -- you have a baby on the way.

[Cell phone chimes]

Juliet: Ugh. It's Leslie. I got to go.

Hilary: Yeah. Go, go. Your lawyer comes first.

Devon: Juliet is pregnant and it's cane's? How the hell did that happen?

Hilary: The usual way, Devon.

Devon: Oh, my god. Lily...

Hilary: Okay, we shouldn't discuss this here. Come. Let's go up to my suite. Well... are you coming?

Jack: Mother, you are free to make your own choices, but this -- this is beyond the pale.

Ashley: Look, if you find the man valuable, by all means reward him with a salary or a bonus, but your estate?

Dina: Careful, you two. You're beginning to sound jealous.

Ashley: That's not true. We're concerned about you. It doesn't seem like you're making the appropriate choices.

Dina: I know exactly what I'm worth and exactly what I'm giving graham. And for him to be able to stand by me always feels like a bargain. And he's given up a lot to be with me.

Jack: Oh, please! What has graham given up? What company in the world would give graham Bloodworth a deal this sweet? Stay at a company for a little over a year, get in good with the boss who just happens to be a rich widow, and -- boom! -- Your fortunes soar.

Dina: You call it a deal...

Ashley: Actually, that was your word, mother. You said "graham and I have a deal," remember?

Dina: I prefer to call it peace of mind. And you can't put a price tag on that.

Jack: Graham certainly has.

Dina: I didn't tell you this because I had to. I chose to because I wanted to get things out in the open.

Jack: And you assume he's going to come through for you, that he's going to be your steadfast companion no matter what?

Dina: Graham will be by my side until I no longer need him or anyone else. It's a lifetime job.

Ashley: Your lifetime. All you've done is make him hope it's a short one.

Gloria: Well, hello, there.

Graham: Gloria.

Gloria: Are you here to see jack? I can buzz him, let him know you're here.

Graham: Jack's aware of that. Thank you. But I'd much rather be out here than in there.

Gloria: [Chuckling] Yeah. Me, too.

Reed: Listen, I've just got to ask. Did I say something wrong?

Mattie: No. Not at all. I love being made fun of for trying to show some initiative and get ahead.

Reed: Oh, so that's why you're doing it. I thought it was so you didn't have to deal with your idiot brother, but clearly my bad.

Mattie: I should get back to this.

Reed: So, you sure you're not up for a movie?

Mattie: Not if it means falling behind.

Reed: Come on. It's summer. I mean, you can't do math work all the time.

Mattie: What are you doing?

Reed: Jotting down song ideas. What can I say? You inspire me.

Mattie: Seriously?

Reed: Mm-hmm. I'm starting with the titles.

Mattie: Give me that. "Calculus girl." "Why does Mattie hate movies so much?" "Lighten up, Mattie."

Reed: I'm thinking like a surfer vibe for that last one, you know?

Mattie: Maybe a movie wouldn't be so bad.

Reed: That's an excellent choice. Put that brain of yours in a jar for a minute.

Mattie: I'm sorry for being such a pain. I'm just not used to this... guys asking me out.

Reed: Well, we're gonna have to change that.

Charlie: Hey, is this loser bothering you?

Mattie: What? No. Charlie, come off it.

Charlie: Well, 'cause he's sure bothering me.

Victoria: Whether or not the baby is cane's, he's got a lot to sort out with his family.

Michael: Wait a minute. He doesn't think the baby's his?

Victoria: He's not convinced. Anyway, the damage is done. Cane stuck by his lie because he thought he could get away with it, and now I'm gonna end up paying. A lot.

Michael: Before I call Leslie, we should talk numbers. They'll smell blood, but I'm hoping I can keep things reasonable.

Victoria: As long as Juliet agrees to sign a non-disclosure agreement. That's key.

Michael: Look at you. You've just been handed a major setback. Look how calm you are.

Victoria: On the outside. Trust me, on the inside, I am raging.

Cane: I, um... I spoke to Victoria. She's settling the case.

Lily: There's no other option. You put her in a box.

Cane: Yeah, I put us all in a box, I know that. Are you okay?

Lily: My dad was here.

Cane: Did you, um... did you tell him?

Lily: You're lucky he left already.

Cane: Sweetheart, I know I have a lot to apologize for, and, uh... but on the drive over, all I could think about is if I still have a marriage.

Lily: That's your question? "Do I have a marriage?" I have a question. Why did you have to sleep with that woman?

Cane: I didn't plan for it to happen. I was wasted.

Lily: Do you think that makes it any better?

Cane: No, it doesn't make it any better, but I don't remember doing it.

Lily: How do you think that makes me feel? God, I just -- I keep picturing you with her.

Cane: I am -- I am so sorry. I never meant to cheat on you, sweetheart.

Lily: [Scoffs] But you did. And now we have to deal with the consequences.

Cane: I will have Juliet take a DNA test, and I'll do one, as well.

Lily: Oh, my god. Time after time, you lied. You were covering it up.

Cane: It was one-time mistake, and I told you already, I just didn't want to hurt you. And then it just spun out of control, and I was just helpless to stop it.

Lily: No, you weren't helpless. You were weak. There's a difference.

Cane: Sweetie, listen...

Lily: Listen, I know that I cheated on you in the past. I know that I took us for granted, and that was wrong. But what you did was so much worse. You let me stand up for you and defend you to people and say, "no! My husband would never do that!"

Cane: I'm sorry.

Lily: And then you let me find out the truth in the worst possible way -- in public! Where that "one-time mistake" hands me a piece of paper that says that you got her pregnant. Do you know how humiliating that is?

Cane: I do.

Lily: Did you do this to get back at me for Joe Clark?

Cane: No, no, no. No, I forgave you for that. We put that behind us and we fixed us. We fixed us. We did. I'm sorry.

Lily: And now you're tearing us apart all over again.

Charlie: What are these, jokes?

Reed: Oh, wow! He can read! No, actually, they're song titles. You know what, I think I actually just came up with another one. "Jocks with rocks for brains."

Charlie: You know, you're the smartest person I know. What do you see in this dweeb?

Mattie: Will you both just chill? How can you hate someone you barely know?

Charlie: It's pretty easy.

Reed: Yeah, the feeling's mutual, dude. [Exhales sharply] I will call you later about that movie, and, um, take it easy, sport.

Charlie: Tell me you're not thinking of going out with that clown.

Mattie: Hey, I, uh, actually have an idea. How about we double and you can bring Zoey?

Charlie: Funny. "Calculus girl?" "Why does Mattie hate movies so much?"

Mattie: Give me that.

Hilary: I'm sorry that you had to find out that way.

Devon: There's still a chance that cane's not the father.

Hilary: Even if that's true, where does -- where does it leave the case?

Devon: I don't care about the case. It's lily that I'm worried about.

Hilary: I know. And I'm sorry to say that your worry is justified. Why would Juliet lie when it is so easy to prove a child's paternity these days?

Devon: I don't know. But I know I warned cane not to hurt my sister, and he promised me that he wouldn't, and here we are now. And when the trust is broken like it is, how is a marriage supposed to last? The twins are gonna be crushed when they find out 'cause this isn't something you could exactly keep a secret. And it's hard to feel any sympathy for cane, as reckless as he's been acting, and now when people hear about this, they'll assume that the sexual harassment part is true, even if it's not, and then he'll be stuck with that label for the rest of his life. There's no way you can change that.

Tessa: Nikki's been good to me, Mr. Newman, but it's not like we're besties. She's my boss, you know. I can't think of anything she'd say that she wouldn't want you to hear.

Victor: Mm-hmm. I'm just trying to figure out what motivated her sudden departure, you know? But if she didn't confide in you, there's nothing you can say, is there?

Tessa: Yeah, well, sorry I couldn't be help.

Victor: Tessa... let's talk about the upcoming concert. I would like you to open.

Tessa: Me?

Victor: Yeah. You. I just know that she is very, very trepidatious about carrying the concert all by herself. If you were to open for her, that would alleviate the pressure.

Tessa: Yeah. That makes sense. I would love to perform. Thank you for asking.

Victor: I appreciate that. And, by the way, if you hear anything from Nikki, you let me know, all right?

Tessa: Yeah.

Victor: Good.

Tessa: Oh, thank god you're home.

Mariah: Why? What's wrong?

Tessa: Victor Newman summoned me to the club to grill me about Nikki -- where she went and if she said anything to me, which she didn't.

Mariah: You told victor that?

Tessa: Yeah.

Mariah: Did he believe you?

Tessa: Seems like it, but it's victor, so who knows? I mean, the guy's like a walking, talking mind game. Oh! And get this -- he asked me to open up for Nikki at the concert so she wouldn't feel overburdened.

Mariah: And you said yes, right?

Tessa: Well, I hoped it would be cool with Devon, but I'm contract, so...

Mariah: No, it -- it's a charity event. He'll be fine with it.

Tessa: Good. I just -- I don't know with victor. I mean, he's just so hard to read and so scary! I just -- maybe he's tricking me into letting my guard down or something.

Mariah: Well, you have a right to be cautious.

Tessa: Is that a warning?

Mariah: I have my own bizarre history with the guy. Do you remember when I told you I came to town as Cassie's "ghost?" Well, victor was the man pulling the strings. And that's all the information you're gonna get because I wouldn't want you thinking less of me.

Tessa: [Scoffs] Well, no, that wouldn't happen. You've been a good friend to me.

Mariah: Right back at you. Anyway, look, Nikki trusts you. That's what important, and don't let victor weird you out.

Tessa: [Sighs] Well, thank you for the safe space to freak out.

Mariah: No problem. Do you have to run off? Because I have the sequel to that god-awful movie we watched the other day ready to go.

Tessa: Ooh, well, cue it up!

Mariah: Yes!

Tessa: Can't be any worse than the original.

Mariah: There's only one way to find out. I could use some company tonight.

Tessa: What about Devon?

Mariah: I left him a message, but he's busy.

Devon: Hey. I know I don't have any right to ask you this.

Hilary: Ask.

Devon: Would you do me a favor and keep this whole mess off the air?

Hilary: For lily's sake?

Devon: Well, yeah. I mean, I know that nothing's keeping you from taking what you know and sensationalizing it.

Hilary: Yeah, nothing... except I know what the fallout would be.

Devon: So does that mean you'll leave it alone?

Hilary: Devon, you and I, we've been going 'round and 'round about what is appropriate for me to report on, okay? And I'm proud of this show. I'm not gonna report on a story solely for the purpose of going after your sister, okay? I am better than that.

Devon: Well, that's not exactly a promise.

Hilary: How can I reassure you?

Devon: I don't know. It's hard for me to think that you'd do anything at all to help lily, but I would really appreciate if you did not make this more painful and difficult than it already is for her. You know? If you cared about me at all...

Hilary: Devon... I've always cared. That's never stopped. Never will.

Devon: Well, thank you.

Cane: I don't know how to put into words how sorry I am and how low I feel, but I will do whatever you want me to do, and I will say whatever you want me to say.

Lily: So, what, now it's on me to fix this for you?

Cane: No. No. I'm not saying that to you.

Lily: You mess up, and you want me to tell you how to make me feel better? Cane, I don't know! I don't know because you didn't just have a one-night stand. You may have fathered a child. So I don't know how to fix this.

Cane: I love you. I love you, and from now on out, every single thing will start with that one simple truth, my love. I love you.

Lily: I really wish you had remembered that in Tokyo.

Cane: I know what I did was unforgivable, but just tell me what to do and I will do it. I will make it up to you.

Lily: This isn't just about me. Don't you get that? We have a family!

Cane: I know we have a family.

Lily: What about Mattie and Charlie? How are they gonna feel about what you've done?

Cane: We can't tell them until the paternity test comes back. We can't do that.

Lily: Oh, so, you just want to lie to them? How about you tell me how to do that 'cause you're so good at it.

Cane: I don't want to lie to them. I just don't want to hurt them.

Lily: That's been your logic all along, hasn't it? Right? Just don't tell anyone. Why hurt poor, stupid lily with the truth?

Cane: Come on. Come on. Don't do this.

Lily: Look how far that's gotten us.

Cane: Please don't do this.

[Door opens]

Mattie: Mom? Dad?

Charlie: Yeah. What's wrong?

Dina: I'd be happy to tell my lawyers to forward each of you a copy of my will.

Jack: That is not what we want, and you know it.

Dina: I understand that you both are surprised and upset. Well, maybe it's because you were thinking I would be more generous when the time came.

Jack: We don't need your money, mother.

Ashley: Dina, maybe we'll never be able to get past all the things that have caused us from being close, but it doesn't mean that jack and I don't care about you. And we can't help but feel concerned when it appears that you're being taken advantage of.

Dina: Well, how can that be the case when I know exactly what I'm doing? This is a decision I made. So live with it. I intend to happily.

Gloria: See? Every time I click there, it jumped to a different screen entirely instead of the function that I want to do. It's very frustrating.

Graham: Press f5 first.

Gloria: F5.

[Keyboard clicks]

Gloria: [Gasps] The man's a genius!

Graham: I wouldn't go that far.

Gloria: Oh, that cologne of yours. What are you wearing? It's intoxicating. [Sniffs]

Graham: It's dare by brash & sassy!

Gloria: Oh, shh! That's a swear word around here.

Graham: Well, we have a secret now. First of a few, I hope.

Ashley: Graham, are we done here?

Graham: Uh, yes. We're finished.

Dina: You ready to go?

Graham: Yes.

Dina: Thank you.

Graham: Until next time.

Jack: Well, I for one did not see that coming.

Ashley: I need some air. Or a drink. Preferably both.

Jack: Hey, ash. Ash! We need to talk about this!

Ashley: What's there to talk about, jack? You heard Dina. She made her decision. We just have to live with it.

Michael: So, this open mic night -- they have it every week?

Victoria: Yeah, it was Noah's brainstorm, and nick told him to run with it, and now it's one of the underground's biggest events.

Michael: Ah!

Reed: You should come down sometime.

Michael: Lauren showed me a video of one of your performances. You have a great rapport with your audience.

Reed: You really think so?

Michael: Yeah, absolutely.

Reed: Well, thank you.

Victoria: It's good practice performing in front of a crowd.

Reed: Yeah.

Michael: Well, I have to be sure to make it down there one of these weeks.

Reed: Well, let me know when you plan on it, and I'll be sure to save you a good seat.

Michael: All right. Sounds like a plan. All right, um, I will get right on that matter we discussed.

Victoria: Yeah. Please let me know how it goes.

Michael: You'll be the first.

Victoria: Thanks, Michael. [Sighs]

Reed: Um, Mom, is -- is something going on?

Victoria: Huh? Oh, just work stuff, honey. I'd rather hear about how things are going with you. Come on. Come in here. How are things going?

Reed: Uh, I was just wondering if I could have a little extra cash this week. Like an advance on my allowance.

Victoria: Oh! Do you need some, uh, new guitar strings, or something?

Reed: Not exactly.

Victoria: Ohh. Why do I get the feeling that maybe you have a date?

Reed: Yeah, I might.

Victoria: Do I know her?

Reed: Oh, she's just a girl I know from around town.

Victoria: Mm-hmm, does she have a name, or...?

Reed: You probably wouldn't know her. She goes to a different school.

Victoria: Oh! Walnut grove! Yeah, this is the girl that you mentioned before. Tell me about her, baby. I want to hear all about it.

Reed: Um, you know, you can forget about the money. I mean... I'll figure something out. I see you got a lot on your mind.

Victoria: No, no, no. Here. Take this.

Reed: No, mom. Are you sure?

Victoria: You have so many good things going on in your life right now.

Reed: Yeah, but you don't.

Victoria: [Clicks tongue] It's just -- you know that lawsuit that I was dealing with? Well, I -- I decided to settle.

Reed: What? But you sounded so determined to fight it.

Victoria: Yeah, well, things changed.

Reed: How?

Victoria: Well, I guess the whole fiasco started when one of my employees lied to me, and then everything just spiraled out of control from there.

Reed: So, you pay a bunch of money to the person who's suing you. What happens to the one who lied to you in the first place?

Victoria: That's what I have to decide.

Reed: Well, I guess that's what being the boss is all about.

Victoria: That's right. Sometimes you have to do things that you hate. But they're unavoidable.

Lily: Everything's fine.

Cane: Yeah.

Lily: You know, why don't you guys go get washed up for dinner?

Mattie: Something's going on.

Charlie: Yeah, is this about the lawsuit?

Lily: Uh, yes. There's news. Uh, Victoria is settling the case.

Charlie: So that's good, right? Dad can stop worrying.

Cane: Yeah, that's right. Yeah.

Mattie: But settling means that the company still needs to pay this woman off. The one that said those awful things about dad.

Lily: Yeah, but that doesn't mean that those accusations are true. It's just easier than going to court.

Charlie: Yeah, so everyone can move on, right? I mean, that's a good thing. Over and done with.

Cane: That's the idea, yeah.

Mattie: Then why aren't you happier?

Tessa: This is not very good.

Mariah: I know.

[Knocks on door]

Mariah: Oh!

Mariah: Hey! I didn't think I'd see you tonight. Mwah!

Devon: Am I, uh, interrupting something?

Mariah: [Chuckles]

Tessa: Well, we were gonna watch this, but if the, uh, whole movie is as bad as the first 20 minutes, I'm happy to have you guys have your time together.

Devon: Please, please, don't leave on my account.

Tessa: No, no. It's all right. I got to work on some new songs, anyway, before we get into the studio.

Devon: Well, if that's the case, I can't argue with you.

Tessa: All right, well, see ya. Uh, thanks for everything. We'll have to do this another time.

Mariah: Oh, of course. Totally.

Tessa: Bye, Devon.

Devon: See ya.

Mariah: So, would you like some wine or popcorn?

Devon: No, I'm okay. Thank you, though.

Mariah: So, what'd you do tonight? You saw Jill, right?

Devon: Yeah, I did, and then I saw Hilary.

Mariah: Oh! Uh, what about?

Devon: About lily and cane. Um...it's not good news.

Cane: You know, it's just that this has been hard on us, and, um, your mum and I are now trying to figure out what all this means, right?

Lily: Yeah, we just have some, you know, lingering issues. This sort of thing doesn't just go away magically when you snap your fingers.

Charlie: Yeah, sure, but all the legal stuff's over. So, I mean, that's the important part. That's good. I --I got to go change. Call me when dinner's ready.

Cane: Yeah, okay.

Mattie: What kind of lingering issues?

Lily: Mattie, it's nothing you have to worry about.

Cane: Yeah, it's --

Mattie: Is work okay? Are you gonna lose your jobs?

Lily: Work's fine, you know? Just put it out of your head.

Victor: Well, well, well. How are you this evening?

Ashley: Next question.

Victor: Uh-oh. Waiting for someone?

Ashley: No.

Victor: Huh.

Ashley: I'm drinking alone. My mother drives me to that sometimes.

Victor: Really? What did Dina Mergeron do now?

Ashley: Do you remember that companion you met, graham Bloodworth?

Victor: Ohh. The opportunist.

Ashley: Yes. Well, it turns out he's better than any of us even thought.

Gloria: Here's that report you were asking about earlier.

Jack: Thanks.

Gloria: So, are you ever gonna tell me?

Jack: Tell you what?

Gloria: What that was all about before.

Jack: [Sighs] Gloria. Are you still interested in graham?

Gloria: When did I ever say that?

Jack: The other day. You said you were wrong, that he wasn't as bad as we all thought.

Gloria: Yeah, well, it's true. But don't you dare egg me on to seduce him. If I decide to pursue something, my motives will be pure...ish.

Jack: Could I just get a simple answer to a simple question here? What are your feelings for graham?

Gloria: Mildly interested.

Jack: Even if he's filthy-rich?

Gloria: Excuse me?

Jack: Graham is in line for an outlandishly extravagant bequeath, courtesy of my mother.

Gloria: How extravagant are we talking about?

Jack: Almost all of her estate.

Gloria: My, my, my. But surely you're not gonna stand by and let Dina do this.

Jack: It's her money. It's her life. As she's fond of saying, she can do whatever the hell she wants.

Gloria: Huh.

[Door closes]

Victor: That's odd. I mean, I would never have assumed that Dina Mergeron was someone who could be hoodwinked so easily.

Ashley: Nor would I.

Victor: And no explanation?

Ashley: No, she -- she told us that she wanted jack and I to know where things stand, and she was hoping it would end our suspicions about graham.

Victor: Uh-huh. But by leaving the bulk of her estate to him...

Ashley: It's difficult to find the logic in that one.

Victor: Certainly is. Does he treat he well, or what?

Ashley: He seems to. I had my doubts, but Dina has assured me that they're unfounded. And you know that jack and I never expected anything from her estate.

Victor: You just don't want her to be taken advantage of.

Ashley: Exactly.

Victor: Ah.

Ashley: And she made it clear that this was her decision, that graham didn't force her into it at all.

Victor: And you don't believe her?

Ashley: I don't have any choice but to believe her.

Victor: Ah.

Ashley: Obviously jack's beside himself. Clearly you could care less about that.

Victor: He and I had a little run-in yesterday. I'm sure he told you all about it.

Ashley: How's the concert coming? I haven't seen Nikki around in a long time.

Victor: She took off for a while just to get ready for the concert. She's very excited.

Ashley: Mm. Is that true?

Victor: Yeah. Why don't we drink to her success?

Ashley: Of course.

Victor: Cheers.

Cane: You know, you should be glad you're in high school and you don't have to deal with this stuff yet.

Mattie: Dad, that's so patronizing.

Lily: No, he didn't mean it to be.

Mattie: I'm not a little kid anymore, you know?

Lily: Honey, we know that.

Cane: Aww, look at this. Our little girl's all grown up.

Mattie: So you can tell me what's going on with my own family. I'm not the only one, you know. Even my lunkhead brother's noticed. Something's going on with you two, and you're not very good at hiding it.

Lily: It's just, you know, things that married couples go through sometimes.

Mattie: Like what they call a rough patch?

Cane: That's it. It's a rough patch.

Mattie: Okay, well, just so you know, if you guys ever decide that we're mature enough, Charlie and I are ready to listen. Who knows? Maybe even your weird teenagers could help.

Cane: Okay, um, how about --

Mattie: I know. Go wash up.

Cane: Go and wash up. Thank you very much.

Lily: Things will be ready soon.

Cane: Thank you for not saying anything.

Lily: We can't keep lying to them forever.

Cane: I know.

Lily: Especially if Juliet agrees to the test.

Cane: I know. I just don't know how to tell them that their dad messed up.

Mariah: Juliet's pregnant?

Devon: Yeah. And that obviously stays between us, but cane has been lying this whole time about sleeping with her.

Mariah: I am just amazed that Hilary hasn't called in the whole staff and made this tomorrow's big story.

Devon: Well, I asked her to sit on it.

Mariah: [Laughs] There's no way that's happening.

Devon: I think she's actually gonna listen to me 'cause I kind of begged her not to mess with my sister on this one.

Mariah: Look, I hope that you got through to your ex, but this is Hilary we're talking about. She despises lily.

Devon: I understand, but, you know, there's -- there's two teenagers at stake here. They need both their parents.

Mariah: Please tell me you don't think that family has nothing to worry about.

Devon: Well, look, no one knows Hilary better than I do, and even though she's unpredictable and headstrong, I really do believe that she understands what's at stake with all this. I mean, the whole thing started off as an exposé on sexual harassment at the workplace, and it's gotten very personal now.

Mariah: You actually believe her.

Devon: I believe that she cares about my opinion, especially my opinion of her.

Mariah: Yeah. I guess so.

Devon: Hey. This whole thing is really about lily and cane, all right? We are spending way too much time talking about my ex.

Mariah: [Inhales sharply] Right. Right. Anyway, I -- I shouldn't be talking. I'm biased.

Devon: It's all right.

Juliet: When I met him for breakfast, he had grade-a #1 hangover. His mind was a total fog. I'm not sure how much he even remembered, which was fine with me because it meant nothing. I have zero interest in cane. Zero.

Hilary: But after you had sex, you got a job at brash & sassy! Did sleeping with him have anything to do with that?

Juliet: No. That is an awful thing to suggest.

[Knocking rapidly]

Juliet: It's over! I won!

Hilary: Uh, whoa, whoa. Slow down. Come in, come in. Tell me what happened.

Juliet: I talked to Leslie. Victoria's lawyer just called. They're settling. Can you believe it? My money problems are over, thanks to you.

Next on "the young and the restless"...

Hilary: After the way you've been treating me lately, you might want to think twice before getting too close.

Paul: Kevin's been gone a little too long, and I just can't help thinking that something isn't right.

Kevin: We have to get the hell out of here. Now.
