Episode # 11163 ~ Jack conspires with an unlikely ally; Gloria worries about her future at Jabot; Abby questions Ashley about Dina.

Provided By Suzanne

Billy: [Sighs]

Phyllis: Hang on.

Billy: Hm?

Phyllis: You really ready? For this relationship? You and me? No more lying? No more sneaking around?

Billy: Wouldn't be in the middle of the lion's den at jabot if I wasn't ready, wasn't sure. [Sighs] What about you? You seem a little...

Phyllis: I'm anxious. I just keep having a flashback of Victoria just... standing there, looking horrified and humiliated.

Billy: The timing couldn't have been worse on that. If those elevator doors had opened up a minute later, maybe...

Phyllis: Maybe it wasn't just bad timing.

Victoria: This is excellent. Good job, cane.

Cane: Okay. You need help with anything else?

Victoria: No, I'm good.

Cane: Okay.

Victoria: Um, the next thing on my agenda is to reschedule the meeting with the lawyers. It got a little hijacked today.

Cane: All right. Well, do you want me to do it for you? Or, better yet, I can and sub at the meeting.

Victoria: No, no. I'm -- I'm fine. I can handle it.

Cane: I was just thinking that after seeing Billy and Phyllis like that, it must be hard on you, you know, and maybe you should take some time off.

Victoria: You know, this is not the first time that Billy's let me down, and it won't be the last.

Cane: Okay, then let me ask you, why is it you, you know, keep him around?

Victoria: My ultimate motivation is the kids. [Sighs] They adore their father.

Cane: Okay, so, because he's a good dad, that's a reason to let him keep working here?

Gloria: [Sighs]

Jack: What's this?

Gloria: I have decided to try my hand at a few new ideas for the women's line. In there, you will find ideas for shades of lipstick, eyeshadow, and... why so glum?

Jack: This is Ashley's area.

Gloria: I know that, jack, and that is why I'm bringing it to you first. Please, peruse it. Evaluate it. And if you like it, maybe you can act as a go-between to get Ashley to give me a shot. Is that a problem, jack?!

Jack: Ashley knows about our relationship.

Gloria: Oh, God. Oh, God, that's awful.

Jack: Hold -- now, hold on.

Gloria: No, no, no. Ashley detests me, and you're trying to tell me I'm fired.

Ashley: You read my mind.

Abby: Hi.

Ashley: Hi. So glad to see you.

Abby: [Sighs]

Ashley: Hey, I ran into your dad earlier today, and he said he was very impressed by all the hard work you've been doing. What's the matter?

Abby: I've debated on whether I should talk to you about this. Um...

Ashley: Oh, no. What has your father done now?

Abby: No, no. This isn't Dad. Uh... this is about Dina Mergeron. Your mother. Why don't I know my only living grandparent?

Devon: So, you knew my grandmother?

Dina: Oh, very well. Katherine and I were dear, dear friends. But then we lost touch.

Devon: But you must have read...

Dina: That Katherine had a grandson very late in life, yes. But I didn't expect to find you here...with Neil Winters, trying to buy my company.

Devon: I'm sure. And we were very blessed to learn the truth several years before Katherine passed away, which gave me the chance to spend some quality time with her. And she was always very, very good to me.

Dina: Oh, indeed.

Devon: Yeah, right?

Dina: And now you're going to try and tell me that, uh, Katherine took you under her wing, and, uh, taught you all she knew about the business. And that's why I should trust you.

Devon: To be honest, in the beginning, I wanted nothing to do with her.

Gloria: But we've been so careful. The whole point of our arrangement was to be private. Why would you tell Ashley?

Jack: Look, Michael and Phyllis already knew. How long did you think it would take Ashley to find out?

Gloria: Longer than this!

Jack: Secrets don't stay secret, Gloria.

Gloria: Yeah. And I don't stay employed. I'll go pack up my desk.

Jack: Gloria --

Gloria: No, no, no! Your sister hates me. She's already threatened my job.

Jack: You honestly think I'm gonna let her get rid of you?

Gloria: Do you honestly think she's gonna give you a choice?

Jack: It is my decision to make. You work for me. I told her what good work you're doing.

Gloria: You told her that?

Jack: Yeah, I didn't have to. She's seen your work. She knows it's good, regardless how she feels about you.

Gloria: Thank you, jack. I'll remember that when they're escorting me out of the building.

Jack: I just told you --

Gloria: Oh, that I am in the middle of a power play between you and your sister! Do you honestly think you can win that fight? After I almost brought jabot down with my tainted cream stunt?

Jack: Oh, that was years ago.

Gloria: Yeah, and she's never forgotten that. Jack, what's to stop her from using our mutually beneficial friendship to force you out as C.E.O. and waltz herself right in?

Abby: Dad's the one that told me that Dina's selling her company.

[Laptop slams]

Abby: It must all over the business news. Mom? She's my grandmother. And you never talk about her. I-I know that you have bad feelings as far as she's concerned, but --

Ashley: Yes, I do. She walked out on us. Our entire family.

Abby: Yes, and never looked back. I know.

Ashley: Right.

Abby: And that's why I've avoided talking about it all these years. [Sighs] Look... I get that this is painful. But what if I run into her at some point? If this is too hard for you, then, um, I can just talk to uncle jack.

Ashley: Abby... I didn't talk about her because, like any normal child, you would've wanted to meet your grandma.

Ashley: Well, yeah.

Ashley: You would've been disappointed, honey.

Ashley: Maybe. But what's the risk in a little face time? When I went to boarding school in Europe --

Ashley: Did she ever reach out to you?

Abby: No, but --

Ashley: Honey, as your mother, I didn't want you to get hurt. I didn't want to take the chance that she would turn her back on you the way she did me.

Abby: And that's a foregone conclusion? Mom, you don't know that she would have.

Ashley: Sweetheart... she never acknowledged you. I mean, she never acknowledged any of us. And here I have this amazing, beautiful, intelligent daughter. I'm so proud to be your mother. My mother... my mother. ...Has no room in her life for anybody but herself. Not her children. Not her grandchildren. Just her. And that is exactly who she is.

Victoria: Okay, great. We'll see you then. Uh-huh. Bye-bye.

Cane: Hey. Here's the file. Okay?

Victoria: Hey, listen. Why would you suggest that I not keep Billy at brash & sassy?

Cane: You really want to discuss this?

Victoria: Well, you brought it up earlier, so, yeah, I want to know what you're thinking.

Cane: Okay. I think that there's gonna be a change in atmosphere now he's exposed himself.

Victoria: Exposed himself as what? A single man who can date whomever he wants on his own time?

Cane: Okay, in company property during company hours. Look [Sighs] I just don't want to damage the name of brash & sassy, okay? I'm just trying to say that we work in close quarters, and we're in constant contact, and we have a good thing going. That's all.

Victoria: In part due to Billy.

Cane: Okay, sure. He's helped us. But he's also hurt us, and he's gonna hurt you.

Victoria: [Sighs] I am extremely adept at separating my personal and professional life, cane.

Cane: Okay. But saying and doing is a completely separate thing now he's embarrassed you like this.

Victoria: I don't need to be reminded.

Cane: Yes. I'm sorry. I just want to let you know that I'm here for you. If you need me to pick up the slack, I can do that, all right? I'm in your corner, okay? All right?

Juliet: Did I miss something?

Billy: I should've anticipated this, to be honest.

Phyllis: What?

Billy: [Clears throat] I knew Victoria had a meeting outside of the office. I thought it was later on in the afternoon. I just -- I should've been more careful.

Phyllis: Something good came out of this, you know. The truth -- the truth is out now, so...

Billy: Yeah.

Phyllis: Yeah. Um... [Scoffs] You've got to feel relieved from all of this.

Billy: I do.

Phyllis: Okay.

Billy: I do. I just wish I'd told Victoria sooner, and she didn't find out the way that she did.

Phyllis: You were being a good guy. You didn't want to...

Billy: [Scoffs]

Phyllis: ...Dump this on her, with her mother being supposedly "ill," whatever that is.

Billy: [Sighs] Yeah.

Phyllis: You know what I think?

Billy: Hm?

Phyllis: I think the elevator set us free.

Billy: Almost.

Phyllis: Almost?

Billy: Well, you're forgetting this thing right here.

Phyllis: The door?

Billy: The door. What happens when we leave this room, on the other side of that door?

Phyllis: Jack.

Billy: Jack. Ashley. Everybody in Genoa city. You ready for this? Are we? Are we ready for this?

Abby: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.

Ashley: I'm fine. Are you gonna stay for dinner? It's just uncle jack and me, and you know Mrs. Martinez always makes so much.

Abby: [Chuckles] And it's always delicious. But, um...

Ashley: Uh-oh. I sense a rain check coming.

Ashley: Well, now that dad's back from his trip, I'd like to be as present and available at the office as possible.

Ashley: And how are you doing? Are you missing being the acting C.E.O. Of Newman?

Abby: Yeah, who wouldn't? But I learned a lot about myself through the process.

Ashley: Like what?

Abby: I am not afraid to make decisions.

Ashley: What kind of decisions?

Abby: Mm.

Ashley: What?

Abby: Thank you for always loving and supporting me, mom.

[Doorbell rings]

Ashley: Excuse me. Hi. Come on in.

Ravi: Hey.

Ashley: Look who stopped by.

Abby: Ahh.

Ravi: Oh.

Ashley: Come in.

Ravi: Oh, hey. Nice to see you again, miss acting C.E.O.

Abby: [Laughs] Yeah, sadly the act is up. The boss is back.

Ravi: Oh. Um... well, if you... we don't need to work on JabotGo right now if you two, you know, need to spend some time together. It's more important.

Abby: Actually, I'd love to. Mom just invited me to dinner.

[Cell phone chimes]

Abby: [Sighs] Oh, gosh.

Ashley: What?

Abby: Just when I was about to cave and stay...

Ashley: Oh.

Abby: Dad, demanding to know where I am. I got to go, but good to see you. I love you.

Ashley: I love you, honey.

Ravi: Have a good one.

Abby: Have fun, guys.

Ashley: [Sighs]

Ravi: You okay? You seem stressed.

Ashley: Oh, I am. Very.

Ravi: [Sighs] I can help with that. One second.

Dina: Thank you, graham. So, your relationship with Katherine wasn't particularly warm.

Devon: No, not at first.

Dina: Well, I'm surprised you'd admit that.

Devon: Why not admit everything?

Dina: So that I would sell you my company.

Devon: Hey, I mean, that's not gonna stop you from investigating me.

Dina: Mm.

Devon: If you do, then you'll eventually discover everything about me, from who I am to how I plan on running the company. So why should I try and hide anything from you?

Dina: Oh, that sounds like Katherine.

Devon: [Chuckles] Well, like I said, it was only at first that we didn't get along. She -- she eventually wore me down and taught me some things.

Dina: Mm. What was he like as a child, hm? [Laughs]

Neil: [Laughs] He was a foster child.

Dina: Oh.

Neil: Had some hard knocks. He was a good kid. My late wife and I, we adopted him. We, uh, assumed that we'd be enriching his life. And little did we know it would go both ways.

Devon: Mm-hmm.

Dina: Well, the fact that Katherine left an immense inheritance to a very young man like you, who she knew such a short time, says a lot about you.

Devon: Well, I-I would be lying if I didn't say, uh, that I struggled with it for a little while. Kept me wondering why Katherine would have that kind of belief in me.

Dina: And the answer?

Devon: I think I'm supposed to do something big with the money. I really believe that I'm supposed to make a phenomenal contribution to the world with it.

Dina: Mm. Now, that sounds rehearsed.

Devon: Well, that's probably because I've been saying that lot to myself since I nearly died recently.

Mariah: You've cut practically all of my segments from the show.

Hilary: Oh, the show was running long. Something had to go.

Mariah: And why deny yourself a second of precious airtime?

Hilary: It is "the Hilary hour," after all. Oh! Thanks.

Mariah: This is payback, isn't it?

Hilary: For?

Mariah: Don't make me say it.

Hilary: Say what, Mariah?

Mariah: You are upset that I'm dating Devon.

Hilary: [Scoffs]

Mariah: And it's driving you crazy that he took me to top of the tower last night.

Hilary: Okay, don't be ridiculous. I am fine that you are dating Devon.

Mariah: Yeah. Sure.

Hilary: I am dating someone, too.

Mariah: I know. You flaunt him in front of Devon every opportunity you get.

Hilary: Oh, that's funny. Because you all over my ex-husband, that's not flaunting, right?

Mariah: [Scoffs] You know, for a girl that was on a date with another guy, you seemed to be watching Devon and me a lot.

Hilary: Devon might be into you now because he's on the rebound...

Mariah: That's cute.

Hilary: ...But he will tire of you soon enough.

Mariah: An experience you're no doubt very familiar with.

Hilary: I know what Devon likes. And, honey [Scoffs] It ain't you.

[Knock on door]

Jack: Oh, my brother on the jabot floor with my ex-wife. This can't be good.

Gloria: Jack is very busy right now. Shall I show them out?

Billy: It's not gonna take long. There's something Phyllis and I would like to tell you.

Phyllis: We wanted you to hear it from us.

Jack: Oh, spare me the platitudes about wanting to be honest with me. That's what this is about, isn't it? I just have one question. Has this been going on all along?

Phyllis: Jack, we haven't been hiding anything from you.

Gloria: Ha! That's a first.

Billy: This doesn't concern you.

Phyllis: You need to leave, Gloria.

Gloria: Fine.

Jack: She stays.

Gloria: Ooh! In that case, I'll stay.

Jack: They won't be here that long. Say what you have to say and leave.

Phyllis: Okay. Billy and I are back together. It was unexpected. We did not plan this.

Jack: Well, it certainly explains a lot. Your big push to get me to forgive him. Your grand admission you had someone in your life, though you couldn't tell me who. And here you are, to tell me the real truth. Am I supposed to be surprised?

Gloria: You should be disgusted.

Phyllis: You know what, we are all adults, unattached, free to be with whomever we choose to be with. So you should surely agree with that, Gloria.

Gloria: Jack and I aren't hurting anybody.

Phyllis: You need to back off.

Billy: No, she's right. People are gonna get hurt. And I'm sorry about that. I've apologized to you. I've asked for your forgiveness. But you don't want anything to do with it. So I'll say this -- I'm done sacrificing my happiness for people that don't want me to be happy. Doesn't matter what I do. Phyllis and I are done hiding. And this is for real.

Jack: Billy, you could've saved yourself an elevator ride. You didn't care how I felt when I was married to her. You really expect me to believe you care about my reaction now? We're done here. Yeah, this is jack Abbott. Is he in? Yeah, put him on.

Devon: In an instant, I had wrecked a ridiculously expensive car I had just purchased, and nearly lost my life in the process.

Dina: Well, I'm awfully glad you're still alive.

Devon: Yeah, well, me too.

Dina: [Chuckles]

Devon: But, you know, I-I came out of the whole thing with a new mission.

Neil: Including buying already successful companies like yours that we want to take to the next level.

Devon: That's absolutely right. And use my grandmother's bequest wisely, and do something that's worthwhile that will make a positive difference.

Dina: Well, a noble pursuit, and very well-funded. And as much as I admire your connection with Katherine chancellor, I haven't changed my mind about the other offers.

Neil: That's understandable. An executive of your stature should review all of your options in their entirety.

Devon: That's also why we thought it was important to meet you in person and demonstrate our level of commitment to our plan for Mergeron.

Dina: Well, I'll certainly take that into consideration when I look over your proposal.

Devon: I appreciate that. Do you mind if I ask you a personal question before you go?

Dina: Ask and we'll see.

Devon: Why are you selling the company?

Dina: I feel it's the right time.

Graham: You have an appointment.

Dina: Of course, darling. It's been a pleasure, gentlemen.

Neil: Yes. Pleasure is ours, madam.

Hilary: Thank you.

Mariah: I think I figured it out.

Hilary: Hm?

Mariah: Do you know why you feel the need to put down my relationship with Devon?

Hilary: Because it's doomed to fail.

Mariah: No. Because I think you know how good we are together, and it kills you.

Hilary: [Scoffs] Honey, it bores me.

Mariah: No, no. Listen. You have this dreamy image of Devon forever pining after you, when the truth is he's too busy hanging out with me and working on his new company to give you even the chintziest of a passing pine. Divorcing you gave Devon confidence. It gave him focus. Just like how he and his dad are focusing on making their first big acquisition.

Hilary: Yeah, the Hamilton/Winters group. I know all about it.

Mariah: Yeah, they should be in the middle of their meeting now.

Hilary: Good for them.

Mariah: In Paris. Yeah, they flew over in Devon's private jet. Seems like you missed out on that little bit of buzz. I guess you don't know all about your ex anymore.

Victoria: Great work sliding that in.

Juliet: A backhanded product comparison felt better than leading with an attack.

Cane: All right, what about the next paragraph? It's...

Victoria: Go ahead. Finish your thought.

Cane: I think the word I was looking for is "intrusive." There you go, Billy.

Billy: It's the latest press release?

Victoria: Do you think the quote's too long?

Cane: We can always cut the first two words.

Juliet: Mm. But if...

Billy: I think we need to tweak the description.

Cane: Why? Why do you say that?

Billy: 'Cause it's too flowery.

Cane: Well, the hockey deal isn't the only account we have.

Billy: Yeah, and guys are guys. They'd rather smell like birch than gardenias.

Cane: Okay, and the goal is to have the women buy the products for the men.

Billy: Same rules apply. Juliet, you want your men to smell like roses?

Cane: Okay, this is not --

Victoria: Billy's right.

Ashley: Okay, so please don't make me say "om."

Ravi: There are many ways to achieve mindfulness. Some people recite mantras. Others just listen to the sound of their breath.

Ashley: Yeah, well, my breath is telling me that forced relaxation does not work for me.

Ravi: That's 'cause you give up too easy. Relaxing your neck and shoulders will help. May I?

Ashley: Sure. Knock yourself out.

Ravi: Back when I was working at my old tech job... there you go. Relax and breathe.

Ashley: Okay.

Ravi: ...The company offered lunchtime mindfulness training to get their employees to feel less tense, more focused.

Ashley: I don't think my mind is calmable, Ravi. I really don't. I mean, as soon as it gets quiet for a second, a thousand thoughts come crashing in.

Ravi: Well, perhaps you haven't had the right instructor.

Ashley: [Scoffs]

Ravi: There you go. No stress. In this moment. Letting the thoughts come and go.

Mariah: The reason why Devon is so psyched about this company he's trying to acquire is because they own the largest music-streaming service in Europe. And Devon is hoping that he can utilize that for his own music division. Plus, the company is, like, off the charts with technology.

Hilary: Fine. Okay? I get it.

Mariah: And obviously Devon was all over that, so he immediately made the offer, and then he and Neil flew to Paris, and --

Hilary: Enough! Okay? That's good for Devon. [Sighs] God.

Mariah: It bugs you, doesn't it? How I know so much more about Devon's life than you do.

Jack: What is it?

[Door opens, closes]

Jack: Uh, let -- let me get back to you, all right? Yeah. Well, if you are here to soften the blow, you needn't bother. As you said, you're single, you're free. You can do whatever you want. So go do it. Oh, uh, one thing. I don't want Billy on this floor again. Be free out of my sight.

Phyllis: You're angry.

Jack: I'll say this one more time -- I have moved on with my life, just as you have with my ne'er-do-well brother. I wish you both the very best. I really do. You deserve each other. Now, if there's nothing else...

Phyllis: We need to talk about our relationship.

Jack: Our relationship is defunct, Phyllis.

Phyllis: We are work colleagues. And I was beginning to think we were friends. Which felt great. And I was hoping that we could hang on to that.

Victoria: All right, well, thank you all for your hard work. And, Juliet...

Juliet: Cane and I will take a final pass at the press release, incorporating all the changes we just made.

Billy: Thank you for agreeing with me. [Sighs] I know I'm not your favorite person right now.

Victoria: [Sighs] What did you expect me to do, Billy? You had good ideas. You expect me to punish you because you're with Phyllis now? I'm not this wicked-witch meme that everybody seems to think that I am.

Billy: I don't believe you are.

Victoria: Yet you're starting things up with Phyllis again because you felt that I was being too controlling.

Billy: That's how I felt, Vick.

Victoria: Well, I have never --

Billy: If I would've known what you were going through with your mother's health --

Victoria: Okay, look, I get that you and Phyllis are otherwise involved. I get that. But I would've preferred to find out in a less embarrassing way.

Billy: Yeah. Me too.

Victoria: Not in front of cane, and not in front of Phyllis.

Billy: Look, Vick... [Sighs] We're still gonna raise our kids as a team. That's not gonna change. They're always gonna be my priority.

Victoria: Yeah. How does Phyllis feel about that?

Billy: She knows how much I love my children.

Victoria: Yeah, you love them. And you're welcome to spend as much time with them as you want.

Billy: But...?

Victoria: But I would appreciate it if you didn't include Phyllis in the time that you spend with the kids. At least not at first. I made that mistake with Travis. I learned the hard way. It was just...

Billy: It's confusing for them.

Victoria: Yes.

Billy: I understand. That's not a problem.

Victoria: You know, Johnny and Katherine were getting used to us together as a family, I think. It was nice for them. I hope they're not too disappointed when they see you alone.

Billy: We'll handle it.

Victoria: All right. Well... I should get back to work.

Jack: So, what do you think is gonna happen with you and Billy? I mean long-term?

Phyllis: If you're gonna badmouth him, I'm just...

Jack: No, no, no, no, no. I'm actually asking this. He's not very good at relationships. I mean, look at his track record.

Phyllis: Well, you know what? Neither am I. Hell, take a glance at yours. Both of ours are not any better than Billy's.

Jack: What makes you think it's gonna be any different this time? It's not like he's changed. He's still the same screw-up he's always been.

Phyllis: Maybe so am I. You know, Billy and I, we were tested. We broke up. We tried to reunite with our spouses. It didn't work.

Jack: What we had was broken. I couldn't go back.

Phyllis: I get that. And, you know, even through all of that, Billy and I still had strong feelings for one another. We even tried to fight them.

Jack: Victoria know?

Phyllis: Yeah. It was, uh, painful. You know, and Billy still has to work with her.

Jack: Work for her. And don't think for one second she's gonna forget that. Bet they have some nice meetings down there at brash & sassy.

Phyllis: It's gonna be rough for a while, but we're gonna be able to handle it.

Jack: If that's what you need to believe, okay.

Phyllis: What I need to believe is that you're gonna be okay with this.

Jack: I'm fine. I'm fine. Want to be friends? We'll be friends. Here, you want to shake on it?

Phyllis: I want you to be happy.

Jack: I am positively bursting with joy.

Phyllis: No, you're not. And you never will be... until you forgive your brother.

Hilary: Now, next, I wanted to talk about something light, like my most recent shopping spree, or how my personal style is evolving.

Mariah: But, Hilary, if you're trying to keep it real, you need to be honest about why your style is evolving.

Hilary: [Groans]

Mariah: Hilary has got a new man in her life, folks.

Hilary: Yes, I do. But we're still in the "getting to know you" stage, so...

Mariah: As your friend, I hope that's true.

Hilary: Well, why wouldn't it be?

Mariah: Well, I mean, you could be really interested in this guy...

Hilary: I am.

Mariah: ...Or you could be rebounding after your divorce.

Hilary: [Sighs] I am -- I am completely over my ex-husband, and I am pressing forward with this very exciting new man. It's for real. There is life after divorce.

Mariah: [Chuckles] For Hilary's sake, I hope that's true.

Hilary: [Chuckles] Let's keep this between you and me. Now, Mariah thinks that she is on the road to romance. But in reality, the guy that she's into [Inhales sharply] Has her stuck squarely in the friend zone. Oops!

[Both chuckle]

Neil: What are you thinking?

Devon: We gave it our best shot, but I just -- I don't think that Dina's gonna accept the offer.

Neil: And why is that? Because she has interest in other companies? Of course she does. We knew that going in.

Devon: I know, but it's...

Neil: Look at me, son. We're not giving up until we hear a definitive no. I believe in giving these things time.

Jack: Scotch. Single malt. Neat.

Cane: Rough day, huh, jack?

Jack: My brother and my ex-wife are reuniting.

Cane: Oh. So I heard.

Jack: Well, I guess they were kind enough to tell me to my face.

Cane: Well, that's generous of them, isn't it? So, what did you say?

Jack: "Have a great life. Don't trip on your way out."

Cane: [Chuckles]

Jack: Phyllis and I are divorced. She can do whatever she wants.

Cane: Yeah? What about Billy?

Jack: Billy and I were barely talking. Nothing's changed there.

Cane: You know, it's funny. Jill bought brash & sassy in the hopes it would help Victoria and Billy reunite.

Jack: I kind of thought they were getting closer, too.

Cane: So did I. Until, uh, Billy...

Jack: Until Billy screwed it up.

Cane: Mm-hmm.

Jack: As he always does.

Cane: I would love to wipe that smug look off his face.

Jack: What's he done to you?

Cane: Lately? Well, I go to Japan, and I close this huge distribution deal, which Victoria's thrilled with. And then he closes a hockey deal, which I don't mind, 'cause whatever works for the company works for me. Except --

Jack: Only Billy had to rub it in your face.

Cane: 'Cause that's what he does.

Jack: That's what he does.

Cane: Yeah.

Jack: For what it's worth, he got that hockey deal playing dirty.

Cane: Really? You know, you would think that he would have the decency to quit so that Victoria was not forced to work with him.

Jack: In the very building in which he will flaunt his relationship with Phyllis.

Cane: How is a fledgling company like brash & sassy supposed to thrive in a situation like that?

Jack: It won't, as long as Billy's on board.

Dina: Well, it's a generous offer, Massimo. And I'll definitely take it under consideration. [Sighs] Oh!

Dina: Ashley... I know how much you must hate me.

Ashley: Can you blame me?

Dina: No. But there's something I want you to remember. People do make mistakes. Mine have been unspeakable. I admit that. But if I had never been involved with Brent, you wouldn't exist. You, Ashley Abbott, would never have been conceived. And I will never, ever apologize to you or anyone for your existence.

Ashley: [Sighs]

Ravi: You okay?

Ashley: Yeah. I'm just not used to this, I guess.

Ravi: The mindfulness training?

Ashley: Yeah.

Ravi: Little patience and practice. Everything in life requires patience.

Ashley: Don't I know it.

Ravi: Now that you've had your first taste of the mindfulness training, do you feel less stressed?

Ashley: It worked for a little bit, but then it didn't last very long.

Ravi: The goal is to escape. Relax. Put yourself outside of your body. Empty your mind.

Ashley: [Sighs] Yeah. Some things you can't escape from, though. No matter how hard you try.

Phyllis: [Knocks]

Billy: Hey.

Phyllis: Hi. You know, I think we should celebrate.

Billy: What am I missing?

Phyllis: [Chuckles]

Billy: Am I missing something? What is it?

Phyllis: Our relationship.

Billy: [Gasps] Oh.

Phyllis: We're officially out.

Billy: Yeah, well, that's worth celebrating, isn't it?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. Date night.

Billy: We're official. We can do that, can't we?

Phyllis: Yeah. I say we go to the club and get a fabulous dinner.

Billy: Yeah. I think that's a perfect idea.

Phyllis: [Sighs] Billy Abbott... you happy? Really, really happy?

Billy: I am.

Phyllis: Good.

Jack: So, do you think Victoria would actually fire Billy? No one would blame her.

Cane: [Hisses] See, I don't know, 'cause she doesn't like to look vindictive. And it kills me to say, but Billy's actually doing quite a good job on this one, which is why she's prepared to put up with his personal drama.

Jack: But if something happened at brash & sassy, something went wrong that Billy could somehow be found responsible for, then she'd be able to fire him for cause.

Cane: And what would be the odds of that?

Jack: Billy is gonna screw things up sooner or later. If you were clever, you would ensure that it happened sooner rather than later. You'd be doing Victoria and the company a big favor.

Next on "the young and the restless"...

Victor: Ought to tell you, then, there's going to be no book.

Mariah: I don't want to be late.

Hilary: For what?

Mariah: Just a ride with Devon on his private jet.

Jordan: So, we're agreeing to not letting anyone know about our...former friendship?
