Episode # 11144 ~ Nick makes a shocking discovery about Victor.
Provided By Suzanne
(Beginning is missing due to news interruption; we'll have to transcribe it by hand)
Nikki: How was your day at the office?
Victor: Busy, but not overwhelming.
Nikki: Sounds like my kind of day.
Faith: Grandpa, wait till you see the project I did for science class.
Victor: Oh, yeah? Show me.
Faith: Okay. It's a unit on botany. That's the study of plants.
Victor: Oh, really? I think I've heard of that.
Faith: [Giggles] We each chose a place in Genoa city and wrote down the trees we saw. I picked chancellor park.
Victor: Oh! That's a wonderful place. Yeah.
Faith: I used an app to identify the different species.
Faith: I counted 14. See? Here's my list.
Victor: 14? That's a lot of species in that park.
Nikki: I had no idea there were that many types of trees planted there.
Victor: You know what we're gonna have to do? You and I will take a walk through chancellor park and you will point out the trees, and you tell me what they are and what they're called, okay?
Faith: Cool! Can we play chess later?
Victor: You bet. I'll make time this weekend, okay?
Nikki: You are so good with her.
Victor: Well, she's adorable. Reminds me of Victoria, you know? Young and inquisitive.
Nikki: Well, like all of your children.
Nikki: What is it? Is something wrong?
Victor: [Sighs] Apparently, there's a problem between Chelsea and Nicholas.
Nikki: Oh. What is it?
Victor: I think he really cares deeply for her, you know? And whatever the problem is has him very upset.
Chelsea: Hey, where's Chloe?
Gloria: Isn't she with you?
Lauren: You went to go talk to her.
Chelsea: Yeah, well, it didn't quite work out that way, so...
Lauren: Are you okay?
Chelsea: Esther, we've got to go find your crazy daughter.
Esther: Excuse me?
Chelsea: You know all the hiding spots on this estate, right?
Esther: I do not like the way that you are talking about Chloe.
Chelsea: Okay, well, you're gonna like it a lot less when you hear the whole story. We've got to track her down before she's gone for good.
Gloria: You have to tell us something!
Chelsea: Okay, Chloe clocked me over the head with a lamp and then tried to escape this place. Is that enough detail for you all? Let's go.
Lauren: Chelsea, wait a second!
Father Todd: Michael, you should go be with your brother. It seems like there's not gonna be a wedding after all.
Devon: Yeah, I think we got that impression.
Michael: Thank you, Todd. I'll go check on him.
Gloria: Michael! You find out what the hell's going on! Sorry, padre.
Scott: This does not look good for Kevin.
Mariah: Well, Chloe hit me over the head with a bottle once. That's kind of her thing. I mean, if she is gone, maybe Kevin dodged a bullet -- big time.
Lauren: I don't think he's gonna see it that way.
Mariah: Well, maybe this will open his eyes. I know that you all want to see the best in her, but that chick is dangerous.
Kevin: The last few years haven't been easy, but every moment -- the good, the bad, and everything in between -- have brought us to right now. This moment. Life isn't perfect. But neither are we. We do bring out the best in each other, though. And it's gonna keep getting better because you make me want to be a better man.
Michael: Chelsea just went down the stairs ranting about... about Chloe, and then she took off to try and find her. What happened here?
Kevin: Chloe's gone.
Michael: Any idea where she went, or why?
Kevin: She left me this. "Dear Kevin... I have to leave. I'm in trouble and I don't want you dragged into my mess. Please tell my mom to take care of Bella. Don't try to find me. I'm so sorry. You really did bring out the best in me. My best is just not that good. You'll always be the love of my life. Chloe."
Michael: What mess is she talking about?
Kevin: I don't know. She just said she didn't want me dragged into her mess. I don't know what she means. I don't know what any of it means. The only thing that's clear to me is that it's over. It's over.
Victor: I know that our son has developed feelings for Chelsea, but I didn't realize how deep they were.
Nikki: Well, I know Nicholas, and when he falls, he falls hard.
Victor: Which reminds me of someone.
Nikki: Oh! Are you expecting someone?
Victor: I think it's Abby bringing by some papers.
Abby: Hi, Dad.
Victor: Hi, sweetheart.
Abby: I hope this isn't a bad time.
Victor: Not at all.
Nikki: Hi, honey!
Faith: Aunt Abby!
Nikki: Of course not.
Faith: I feel like I haven't seen you in forever.
Abby: I know, right? I brought you some files. I thought you might need them for your conference call.
Victor: You anticipate my every need.
Abby: Eh, just doing my job.
Nikki: He is constantly singing your praises.
Nikki: I understand you've been pitching a lot of innovative ideas.
Victor: Yes. Abby has come up with an idea for an incubator at Newman tower.
Faith: An incubator? Like, for babies?
Victor: One could think that. You know, there are some people who have new ideas for a business, ideas for developing a new product, but they don't have the money to start a new business. So, in exchange for free rent, they agree to share some of their profits, in case they become successful, with the landlord.
Nikki: That sounds intriguing.
Abby: I thought so.
Victor: Yeah, but Victoria reminds us all that most start-ups fail. What they try to do is make a quick profit by selling stock and/or being acquired by another company.
Nikki: Is there not some other way to structure a deal?
Victor: Well, I don't think we want to take that risk.
Abby: That's the way the cookie crumbles.
Faith: Want to see my science project?
Abby: Yeah, I'd love to. What is it, a volcano?
Abby: Ah. All right.
Abby: Show me the way.
Faith: Right up here!
Nikki: Well, I hope that means you don't have to go back to the office tonight.
Victor: No, sweetheart. Enough business for the day.
Victor: Yes. And that gives me a chance to realize my plans for the evening.
Gloria: She dumps my son at the altar, she attacks her best friend, and races out of here without saying a word to anyone. Does anyone care about why? What in god's name did that woman do?
Lauren: Okay, could you just simmer down? You're not helping.
Father Todd: I think it's up to Kevin to decide how much he wants to share with us.
Gloria: If he even knows.
Mariah: He didn't see this coming, that's for sure.
Michael: Uh, as you've probably surmised, there's not gonna be a wedding tonight.
Kevin: Or any night.
Lauren: Sweetie, I'm so sorry.
Mariah: Do you need anything? Water? Alcohol?
Kevin: No, I'm okay.
Gloria: No, you are not okay.
Michael: Gloria, don't start.
Gloria: Hush. I know what my son needs. I am here, angel. I know that you are devastated. You loved Chloe with all of your heart, and I'm gonna help you get through this. Whatever it takes.
Esther: We have checked everywhere. Chloe must have gone through the servants' entrance. Her car's gone.
Chelsea: My vicious, pathetic excuse for a friend could be anywhere by now.
Esther: Okay, that is it. I have had it with you talking like Chloe's some sort of criminal.
Chelsea: She is a criminal, Esther. It's about time you wake up and saw the facts like we all have!
Lauren: It's time we got an explanation.
Michael: What exactly are you accusing Chloe of?
Gloria: The truth, Chelsea. All of it.
Chelsea: That lying, psychotic bitch killed Adam.
Nick: It's the middle of your wedding, Chloe. Where are you going?
Nikki: I love to see how you're mentoring Abby. She's already learned so much from you.
Victor: Well, you know, it is her savvy that allows me to step back and spend some more time with my baby.
Nikki: Oh, my god! I never thought I would live to see the day. But now that I have...
Nikki: I'm thrilled.
Nikki: You know, things have been going so well for us lately.
Nikki: What would think of another family dinner?
Victor: Mm, when?
Nikki: Um... tonight?
Victor: I have plans tonight.
Nikki: Oh, my goodness. That's right. You did mention that.
Nikki: Well, tell me, is this a surprise, or do you get to share it with me?
Victor: Hmm... after faith goes to bed, how would you like to have an old-fashioned candlelight dinner? How does that grab you?
Nikki: I think that sounds heavenly.
Victor: Doesn't it?
[Cell phone rings]
Nikki: Oh, please don't answer it. I don't want anything to ruin our evening.
Victor: One second, my sweetheart. Okay. There we go. So... now, where were we?
Gloria: So, this is the truth?
Chelsea: It's the truth. Chloe killed my husband.
Lauren: Adam died in an explosion. It was a terrible accident.
Chelsea: Yeah. She made it look that way. She did.
Scott: Chloe killed a man, manipulated a crime scene, and then fooled a whole forensics team?
Devon: That's a pretty tall order, Chelsea.
Michael: What's your proof?
Chelsea: She confessed. It was her own words.
Mariah: Just now, upstairs?
Chelsea: Yes. Why are you all acting so surprised? You know how much Chloe hated Adam! She never forgave him for what happened to Delia, and she always wanted him to pay.
Lauren: Right, but that was before she got help.
Chelsea: Well, yeah, she went through the motions, but that's all it was. She used her time in the hospital just to perfect her plan. She made me think that I was her best friend, but really, she's...she's a monster.
Kevin: Stop it! You're calling the woman I love a murderer, it's not true.
Chelsea: It's the facts, Kevin. Why else would she leave if she was innocent? She knows that she's caught so she's trying to cover for herself, she's trying to save her own skin.
Michael: These are serious accusations!
Father Todd: Yeah, hey, Paul. It's Todd. There's a problem. You need to get out here right away.
Kevin: If Chloe confessed to anything, it's because you pushed her too far and drove her to some sort of breakdown.
Chelsea: Then how do you explain this? This is Adam's wedding ring, and I found it in Chloe's bedroom. So if she wasn't by the cabin that night and she had nothing to do with Adam's death... how do you think she got this in her possession, Kevin?
Nikki: I do miss our little traditions.
Victor: Why don't we revive them?
Nikki: Black tie, I presume?
Victor: What do you think?
Nikki: I think you might be getting ready to wheel in a rack of gowns for me to pick one out.
Victor: Do you remember that?
Nikki: Of course, I do. Who could forget such a larger-than-life Victor Newman move?
Victor: That's right. That's right. Do you know something? As we speak, a courier from Fenmore is on the way over with a beautiful gown and an accessory or two.
Nikki: Do I have to eat the last one?
Victor: Nikki, the last one is the best of all.
Nikki: [Sighs] Oh, my gosh! What's that?
Victor: Well, I believe you found a pearl.
Nikki: And it's in a ring.
Victor: [Laughs] What a clever oyster. Let me put on it for you. There.
Nikki: My amazing husband. You haven't missed a trick.
[Cell phone rings]
Victor: Now... as the courier's bringing over that gown...
Victor: I want you to take a bubble bath, and then we'll have bonnie lay out all of your gowns, or whatever you want to wear.
Victor: How does that sound?
Nikki: Well... I'm more interested in the menu. Have you seen it? What am I saying? Of course you've seen it. So, what will it be? Rock Cornish game hens or sole almondine?
Victor: Mm, how about both?
Nikki: Wow, we are really living.
Victor: Oh, yeah.
Nikki: And dessert? Let's see, we could do cherries jubilee or baked Alaska.
Victor: I'm not gonna spoil the surprise.
[Cell phone rings]
Nikki: Who is pestering you like this?
Victor: Sweetheart, I'm so sorry, but there's something I have to take care of right now. Okay?
Nikki: Oh, Victor...
Victor: Sweetheart, I'll be back before you know it.
Nikki: [Whining] Okay.
Victor: Patience. Think of all the...what is it, something jubilee?
Nikki: Yes, how can you forget that?
Victor: I can't. I'll be back.
Paul: What were Chloe's exact words? Do you remember?
Chelsea: She said, "I blew up the cabin. I wanted him to die." So you need to find her and you need to lock her up for good this time.
Kevin: No, no, no. Chloe didn't kill anyone. No one heard any of this! No one knows exactly what she said or what drove her to leave!
Chelsea: You honestly think I could force her into saying something like this?
Kevin: You used to con people for a living!
Chelsea: Why would I want to do that, Kevin? Why would I want to trick somebody I love into admitting she killed the father of my son? That doesn't even make any sense!
Kevin: None of this makes any sense!
Michael: All right, all right, all right! Everyone just -- let's be civil. Let's be rational, all right?
Chelsea: I'm not the only one that thinks this, you know. Nick -- he came to this conclusion a long time ago. I didn't want to believe it. I didn't want to believe that my best friend could do something so vile, but... he went to Paul about it, too.
Kevin: Is that true? How could you not say anything to me?
Michael: Kevin, don't attack Paul. I'm sure he had his reasons.
Paul: Several, in fact.
Chelsea: Nick found evidence. He saw Chloe dump a gym bag in a dumpster, and there was a wrench in there and there was a tranquilizer gun, and he went through her phone records. She was by the cabin the night of the explosion, Kevin.
Kevin: Wrong! That's not -- that's wrong. She was at your place. I was with her! She was worried about you and Connor!
Chelsea: All night? Were you really with her all night? Not every second, were you? She went upstairs at one point, didn't she? Maybe made an excuse, saying she wanted to be alone? She tricked you and she went upstairs, and then she left through that passageway in my closet.
Kevin: It would make me feel better if somebody stayed here with you and Bella tonight, in case there's any news on Chelsea and Connor.
Chloe: You wouldn't mind?
Kevin: You kidding? This sofa's got my name all over it.
Chloe: We would really love that, the both of us.
Chloe: I'll just grab you a pillow and a --
Kevin: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Go to bed. I got it.
Chloe: You sure?
Chloe: Good night.
Kevin: Good night, Chloe.
Chelsea: She used you for an alibi. Just like she used me. That's why you have to find her. You have to do something.
Paul: I'll put out an APB and bring her in. Ideas on where Chloe might have gone? Anyone?
Kevin: We would have been married by now. I...
Gloria: I am here, sweetheart. Whatever you need.
Kevin: Answers. Do you have any answers? That's what I need.
Esther: You know, Chloe never got over losing Delia. I thought she was getting better, that she had finally found peace.
Father Todd: We can never really know what's going on in the mind of a human being, the inner turmoil that they're dealing with.
Esther: But I'm her mother. I should have seen what was happening.
Father Todd: Esther... you are a good woman and a decent mother. And you're hurting. But please, please don't blame yourself for any of this. Chloe's actions are her own.
Esther: Will you pray with me, father?
Father Todd: Of course.
Devon: Should we take off, or do you want to stick around for Kevin?
Mariah: That and... look, I don't want you to think that I'm ruthless like my co-host, but... this is a newsworthy story.
Devon: You're recording this?
Mariah: No, no! Absolutely not. I have some scruples, but... being here gives me the inside scoop. I don't want to cause Kevin any more pain, but... this story's gonna come out sooner or later.
Devon: That's true, and if you break the story, then you control the spin.
Mariah: Exactly. Better me than Hilary, right?
Scott: God, guys. Kevin's your friend. I mean, his whole world just collapsed. Are you really gonna, like, milk that for ratings?
Chelsea: I'm sorry for being so harsh. I'm sorry about everything. I didn't want to believe it either, Kevin. When nick came to me with his theory, I fought it with every ounce of hope that I had.
Kevin: Well, evidence isn't proof. We say that at the police station all the time, so there's another explanation.
Chelsea: Yeah. I tried to rationalize it, too. But then I -- I couldn't anymore because I heard those words come out of Chloe's mouth. I trusted her with everything. She was my best friend. She lived in my home. She tucked my son in at night knowing that she took his father from him. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but when I opened that drawer and I saw that ring... only someone who was with Adam the night he died could have taken that ring off of his finger. I'm just glad the truth came out before you married her.
Kevin: You should go.
Chelsea: Okay. I'll go. But I want my husband's ring back.
Faith: Ooh! Just like a fancy restaurant?
Nikki: Mm-hmm, only right here at home with beautiful flowers and candles and all of our favorites food.
Abby: You and dad are making time for what's important again.
Nikki: Yes, and, really, it's all because of you. You have been so devoted in learning the ropes at Newman and doing a terrific job. Victor trusts you, so the more responsibility you take on...
Abby: The more romantic evenings he can spend here with you. Mm. I'm very happy for you.
Nikki: Thank you. And I must admit, I am a little nervous -- in a good way, though -- because usually whenever Victor does something like this, he has a surprise or two up his sleeve.
Abby: [Laughs] You know what I just realized? Faith doesn't have school tomorrow, which means she can come home with me. We can have a little sleepover at my place. What do you say? Pizza and a movie, total girls' night.
Faith: Can I go? Please!
Nikki: Well... okay! Yes, you can go!
Faith: It's gonna be so much fun!
Abby: Mm, it sure will.
Nikki: [Mouths] Thank you.
Mariah: There is a manhunt going on. This story isn't gonna stay under wraps for long. Look, I realize you don't know me, but I love Kevin. He is one of my best friends. If I can get out in front of this --
Scott: What would "GC buzz" put on the air? What are your facts, Mariah? I mean, you have nothing. Chloe's -- Chloe's confession was just hearsay.
Devon: Chelsea said that nick found evidence.
Scott: More hearsay. Plus, he's not a cop, so anything he might have is tainted. Nick even knew that. That's why he didn't bother giving it to Paul.
Mariah: Kevin's family. You want to protect him, I understand that, but, damn it, so do I. And pretending none of this happened isn't gonna make it go away.
Scott: Putting out a story without all the facts -- I mean, even if you're trying to help -- can do more harm than good. I mean, you're giving the public a first glimpse of a potential murder investigation. I mean, you could be branding Chloe as a killer without any shred of real evidence.
Mariah: I understand that.
Scott: I can see you mean well, but with respect, you're not a trained journalist. If you want do this the right way, get a degree, take a class, or I can recommend a book. Shooting from the hip is gonna do more harm than good here with everybody.
Mariah: Thank you for the advice.
Scott: So, does this mean you're gonna sit on this, at least until you get more information?
Devon: You don't have to answer his question.
Mariah: Why not?
Devon: Because we don't know if he's being straight with you.
Devon: You're writing Victor's biography, right? For all we know, you could be looking for a scoop on his son's death for your book.
Kevin: Well, I'm glad Bella's catching a nap.
Esther: Yeah, but -- but what do we say to Bella when she asks for her mother? What on earth do I tell a child when I don't even understand it myself?
Kevin: It's a nightmare. I -- I think I'm about to make it worse, Esther. Chloe left a note, and she wants you to take care of Bella. Are you cool with that?
Esther: Of course, I'd do anything for my granddaughter.
Esther: I promise to take care of her until Chloe comes back and straightens out this whole horrible misunderstanding.
Kevin: Okay. Wherever Chloe is, I'm sure she appreciates that.
Esther: The caterers have to leave, I have to pay them.
Kevin: It's okay. Go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go. [Sighs]
Gloria: You know, when you were a little boy and got upset, I used to make you tea with honey and cinnamon. You want a cup now? I'm sure Esther wouldn't mind.
Kevin: No, Mom. Thank you.
Gloria: You know that Chloe isn't my favorite person.
Kevin: If what Chelsea said is true... that means from the moment Chloe came back into my life, everything's been a lie.
Gloria: You listen to me. You know how much I fought this relationship. But I don't believe for one minute that Chloe lied when she said she loved you. She's just not well. She needs help.
Scott: You know Chloe a lot better than I do.
Lauren: Clearly, I don't. I mean, she's done some very alarming things, but murder and covering everything up and pretending that everything is fine?
Scott: You know, I've met some sociopaths in my time, even written about them. Within the first five minutes, you know something's off, but Chloe, she's so normal.
Lauren: I hope the police find her. And soon.
Scott: Kevin needs to see her, I think, and hear the truth out of her own lips before he'll accept what's going on.
Paul: Sounds good. Keep me posted.
Gloria: What's going on?
Scott: Yeah, did you hear anything from Chloe?
Paul: Uh, so far, there has been no sign of her.
Michael: Paul has his best people on this. They'll find her.
Kevin: She isn't dangerous. She's not. She only wanted to hurt one person, the man who took Delia from her. Will you please make sure she's brought in safely? She needs to be with her family.
Paul: Kevin, we will take every precaution, I promise you. You have my word, all right?
Kevin: Okay. Thank you.
Father Todd: Not the day we'd hoped for, huh?
Paul: No. So I guess you'll be heading back soon.
Father Todd: Yeah, tonight. It's a long drive back to Detroit. Are we -- are we good with all this? Are we good, you and me?
Paul: Of course.
Father Todd: Okay.
Paul: Travel safe.
Father Todd: Yeah.
Paul: And you should come by more often. We miss you.
Father Todd: Give my best to Christine.
Paul: You got it.
Father Todd: I love you, brother.
Paul: I love you, Todd.
Scott: Tell me I'm off-base here. Chloe doesn't strike me as the type who would blow up buildings with or without people in them. I mean, is there something I'm missing in her past? Arson? Malicious mischief, or...?
Paul: No, no. Nothing like that.
Scott: Well, then how could she pull off such a grand explosion? She must have had some know-how or money. You think she possibly had some help?
Paul: That's what I intend to find out.
[Loud knocking on door]
Chelsea: Uh, is nick here? He's not answering his cell phone.
Sharon: What? No. No. He went to the wedding. To be with you!
Chelsea: He never showed up.
Sharon: Wait a minute. What are you doing here? The reception...
Chelsea: The wedding never happened. [Sighs] Nick was right all along. Chloe is every bit as twisted as he said she was.
Chloe: Finally! Where have you been? I've been waiting forever.
Victor: Get in here.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Hilary: You're hiding something from me, and you're helping her.
Chloe: Listen, Chelsea -- she found the evidence that I framed Adam. That evidence implicates you, too.
