Sage: Aaaah! Ah! [Breathing heavily] Is he okay? Is my baby okay?
Adam: Perfect. Looks just like me.
Sage: [Gasps] [Groans]
Nick: Oh, hey. Take it easy. Take it easy. You're okay. You're okay. Did you have a bad dream?
Adam: Genius at work. Sorry. Didn't mean to startle you.
Chelsea: Oh, it's okay. I'm -- I'm just a little tense. I'm working on my pitch to Jack. Our meeting keeps getting rescheduled, so I feel like I'm off my game.
Adam: You want to practice on me?
Adam: The pitch. Do you want to practice the pitch on me?
Chelsea: Oh, um, sure.
Chelsea: Um, okay. You ready?
Chelsea: Small, but stylish. That's --
Adam: Sold. Totally sold.
Chelsea: I said one sentence.
Adam: That's enough for me. I believe in you. I believe in your vision. These are beautiful.
Chelsea: Well, you're not Jack. And I have to get back to my pitch, so...
Adam: Chelsea? Jack's gonna sign off on this whole thing, okay? He will. So... put that down. Let's talk.
Chelsea: Talk about what?
Adam: About you and me.
Mariah: Nice suit. You wear that to all your arraignments?
Kevin: Only when my chipmunk head is at the cleaner's.
Mariah: Well, you managed to survive one night in jail.
Kevin: Just seven hours in the fetal position. No big deal.
Mariah: Look, maybe Michael can get the charges dropped. I mean, you never know. The police have to see that, yes, you might have possibly leaked information on the case, but now that the killer has actually responded, it's not like you didn't have your reasons.
Kevin: Might not be an issue.
Mariah: Because you suddenly want to be convicted of obstruction?
Kevin: Because there are other ways to get the cops to focus on what really matters.
Abby: Class photos today?
Kevin: It's a suit, Abby. I wear them every time I go to court.
Kyle: Well, you made a move, and the killer made his countermove.
Summer: Or hers. Is that why you wanted us to come here?
Abby: No, Kevin wanted to say "I told you so" in a suit. It wasn't Tobias. He knows everything. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Kevin: Well, true. I was right, you were wrong. But that's not the point. The point is, it is a brand-new day and a brand-new opportunity to get the cops to focus on finding the real killer.
Faith: Did you save the crown I made you?
Sharon: I have never seen so much glitter in my entire life.
Dylan: Yes, there was glitter everywhere.
Faith: [Chuckles] We can build another fort tonight if you want.
Sharon: Sweetheart, you're at your dad's house tonight. Mommy's is only once a week, remember?
Faith: I was just hoping.
Sharon: I know.
Faith: Will you be there next week?
Dylan: I wouldn't miss it. Next week and every week. Yeah, there you go.
Faith: Does that mean you live with mommy now?
Avery: And we're out of milk for coffee.
Joe: Where you going?
Avery: To get milk. Just to the deli down the street.
Joe: Yeah, but you don't take milk.
Avery: I know, but you do.
Joe: I think I can survive one morning without milk.
Avery: Well, why should you do that when I can just go get it?
Joe: Avery, I mean, you do so much for me at physical therapy. I don't need you waiting on me hand and foot.
Avery: It's a favor. I would do this for any guest staying in my house.
Joe: If I need milk, I should go get it myself.
Avery: Yes, and you will eventually. Until then, it's just milk. And I don't mind.
Joe: Thank you.
Avery: My pleasure.
Avery: Hi. Forgot my phone.
Avery: Be back.
Kevin: So, this TV show wants to do a documentary series about the murders. The crew interviews us on everything -- Austin, Courtney, now Tobias.
Summer: You say that like it's a good thing.
Kevin: How is it bad?
Kyle: 'Cause it's like ripping open the wound with a rusty knife. You think summer wants to go through that?
Abby: And not to mention you were just arrested for information you leaked to the
GC buzz. I mean, do you really think going public with this? I mean, that's a terrible legal strategy, Kevin.
Kevin: This is a way to get the police to reopen the investigation. It forces Paul's hand sooner rather than later.
Summer: Yeah, sure, I want to go on TV and talk about how my husband cheated on me and my good friend drugged us and how my best friend wound up dead. No, this is a bad idea, Kevin, and Noah's gonna go ballistic when you ask him.
Kyle: Sounds like you're on your own there, pal. Make sure they, uh, get your good side. You can wear that suit.
Kevin: They want everyone or no one.
Kyle: Then there's your answer.
Kevin: You guys, everybody knows about -- about that podcast, about that series on cable. Digging up new evidence, getting new people to talk. It made the cops pay attention. They'll pay attention to this. Summer, this can make a difference. This can help bring justice for Austin and for Courtney.
Summer: No, not "fine, I'll do it." Fine, I'll talk to my aunt Avery about the legal angle.
Kyle: You want me to come with you?
Summer: No, it's fine. Just stay here and make sure he doesn't get cocky and book the interview.
Kevin: Are you gonna be all right?
Kyle: What are you talking about?
Kevin: I thought you two were joined at the hip, or somewhere. Like, I didn't think you were allowed to be apart for medical reasons.
Abby: You know, summer can go talk to Avery, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna agree to any of this.
Kevin: Abby, your affair with Austin is not gonna be the focus of the documentary.
Abby: Um, Austin's documentary is what got him killed. Why would I be involved with another one?
Kevin: Back me up on this. Talk some sense into these two.
Mariah: I can't. It's a bad idea.
Chelsea: You and me?
Chelsea: I didn't think that there was a you and me. I mean, the other day, you stormed out of my place because you didn't want to be compared to Adam, and then last night at the hospital when I asked about the potential possibility that your ex-wife's baby could be yours, you stormed off again.
Adam: I did, didn't I?
Adam: I sound like a jerk.
Chelsea: Maybe just a little.
Adam: A little bit. Okay, here's the thing. If -- if I -- if I explain to you my side of the story, it's gonna sound like I'm making excuses, right, and I don't want to be that guy.
Chelsea: Why don't you try?
Adam: Okay. Good idea. Um...
Adam: When you asked me if I was the father of Sage's baby, it sort of seemed like you were accusing me of doing something deceitful.
Chelsea: I wasn't accusing you of anything. I was just asking a question. Trust me. With Connor and Johnny, I am in no position to throw stones.
Adam: My marriage to Sage was a business arrangement.
Chelsea: People sleep with business partners all the time. Who am I to judge?
Adam: All right, look, that whole thing is a non-issue, okay? My focus is on you right now. It is. And yes, I'm worried about Sage. A lifetime friendship will do that to you. I know how much she wants this baby, so I'm worried about her, but that's it.
Chelsea: What are you -- what are you trying to tell me? That you're, like, a good guy?
Adam: [Laughing] Oh, God, no. You kidding me? No. Let's not get carried away here.
Chelsea: Okay. We won't.
Adam: Okay. Listen, I have to go, all right? I have things I have to do. Um, kind of important. But I want you to notice how I'm leaving right now, okay? Take notice of me being a gentleman. I'm not storming off. I'm not in a huff. I'm in a good mood. And I'm leaving like a gentleman, okay? Maybe when I get back, uh, we can talk about how this pitch went with Jack? That sound good?
Chelsea: You'll be the first to know.
Adam: Yeah? Love that. Uh, two things before I go. Number one -- I'm sorry about this whole baby thing -- confusion. I apologize for that. And then whatever color this is that you're wearing -- I don't know what you call it, but it's -- it's working for you. It's amazing.
Sharon: I know how much you love seeing your uncle Dylan, so we decided that it would be fun if he could stay over on mommy and faith nights. How much fun would that be?
Faith: Next week is way too far away.
Dylan: Yeah, but there's plenty of fun stuff between now and then.
Faith: Like what?
Dylan: Hmm. Like... uh, like, you know, picking out cookies to take to your friends at school.
Sharon: Yeah. That's the best idea I've ever heard. Make sure you get enough for everyone, though.
Sharon: Oh, Nick is late, and he's not replying to my texts. [Sighs] You know what? I'm here on time. I stuck to my end of the agreement. If he tries to say I didn't, you're my witness.
Dylan: You did, to the letter. Just text him again. [Sighs]
[Cell phone chimes]
Sage: I think that's you.
Nick: Yeah. Oh, it's Sharon. I forgot to tell her I can't take faith to school.
Sage: You can. Go on.
Nick: No, no, no. I can't just leave you here.
Sage: Yes, you can. Faith needs continuity, and you don't want to disrupt the new custody agreement and definitely not over me.
Nick: Why not over you?
Sage: Well, you know, if you stay here, I'm just gonna stare at you and all sorts of embarrassing things.
Nick: Well, then I'm definitely not leaving.
Sage: [Chuckles, groans]
Sage: No laughing.
Sage: It's okay. Go on. I need sleep. Okay? The baby needs sleep.
Nick: This baby's a champ, just like its mom. You get some rest, okay? I'll be back.
Avery: Well, Kevin has a point. Some of those documentaries can be effective. Pursuing avenues that the police can't -- or won't. But...
Summer: "But." Exactly. I mean, this whole thing seems like a bad idea.
Avery: Well, if you don't want to participate, there's no reason you should.
Summer: Yeah, well, Kevin is convinced that if we don't, then we're not pursuing justice.
Avery: Okay, you're not police officers.
[Cell phone rings]
Avery: You've been victimized and terrorized throughout this whole ordeal. Excuse me. Yeah? Really? [Sighs] All right. I'm on my way. I am so sorry. A client of mine is being deposed early.
Summer: No, it's fine. Go.
Avery: Okay, well, uh, uh, Joe, are you okay? I know we had a workout scheduled.
Joe: Yeah, I'm not going anywhere.
Summer: Hey, you know, I can help if you just need someone nearby.
Avery: Would you? That would be great. And don't slack off on him.
Summer: Don't worry. I'll go full-on drill sergeant.
Joe: Do I get a vote here? 'Cause your mini-you is starting to scare me.
Avery: No. Um, listen, about that interview, you don't do anything till you're ready, okay? We'll talk about it more.
Summer: Okay. Thank you.
Avery: Love you.
Summer: Love you.
Joe: Good luck.
Joe: Look, you can go. I can catch up on my sports. No one will have to know.
Summer: Mm-hmm. No, you heard my aunt Avery. I'm not gonna slack off on you. Now, come on. Let's get to work.
Joe: Avery's great, isn't she? I-I'd be lost without her.
Nick: Hey, small fry. I'm late. And you are sticky.
Faith: [Chuckles] I had a muffin.
Nick: Uh, no kidding.
Dylan: Faith, come back here. We'll get you cleaned up. Come on.
Sharon: I was starting to worry.
Nick: Yeah, sorry. I should have texted. Uh, Sage had an emergency surgery -- her appendix.
Sharon: Oh, no. Uh, is she okay? And the baby?
Nick: Uh, she's in recovery now. She's doing great. The rest, you know, we just have to wait and see.
Sharon: Well, you didn't have to come. You know, I could take faith to school or pick her up or whatever you need.
Nick: Sage is awake now. It's okay. I can handle faith.
Sharon: But you didn't have to. That's all I'm saying. You know, faith was just saying she wishes we had more time together. You know I'm always happy to help, and I'm sure Sage would rather have you there by her side, so why not just let me make this easier for you?
Nick: You just can't help yourself, can you?
Chelsea: Hey. Is this a bad time for visitors?
Sage: No, come -- come in. [Groans]
Chelsea: I thought maybe these could help brighten up the room.
Sage: They're beautiful. Thank you.
Chelsea: So, um... are you okay?
Sage: Uh, minus an appendix. I'm fine. It's just all about the anesthesia and the baby now.
Chelsea: Scary stuff. I know it's hard.
Sage: I never expected this baby to happen. It's a miracle. I'm just...
Chelsea: The thing about human beings, even tiny ones, is they fight. They fight to live. They do whatever it takes. It's pretty amazing. Like you said, this baby is a miracle, so I understand the fear. I really do. But just don't let that get in the way of just enjoying your pregnancy and -- and, you know, remember how strong you are and how strong that baby is.
Sage: [Sighs] Thank you. How -- how have you been?
Chelsea: I've been good. It's been a little crazy [Chuckles] With work, you know, and, um, learning to make nice with the new management. But, uh, you know, Gabriel's been a huge support.
Sage: That's a shocker. Your biggest fan is supportive.
Chelsea: Oh, I don't know if I'd call him my biggest fan, but, uh, but he does like the designs.
Sage: So, uh, you guys on, are you off?
Chelsea: I don't really know how to answer that, actually. We, um... we definitely have a very deep connection, but we have some issues, too.
Sage: Another big shocker.
Chelsea: But he was, you know, really worried about you, you know, and the baby. He was really worried when he -- when he got the news. He cares a lot about you. You know, so much so that it, um, it actually made me wonder when I -- when I saw his reaction.
Sage: Wonder what?
Chelsea: If, you know, maybe he's the father of your child.
Sage: The flowers are a nice touch, Chelsea. They go well with "are you sleeping with two men at the same time?"
Chelsea: Oh, God, no, I was not trying to --
Sage: You are really something, Chelsea. Your sympathy was actually convincing.
Chelsea: No, no, no. I understand what it's like to worry about your baby --
Sage: Oh, okay, 'cause that's why you're here with all these innuendos of how the baby came to exist.
Chelsea: No, no, I-I-I -- listen, I -- trust me, I am the last person to judge or care.
Sage: Okay, if you don't care, then why are you here?
Chelsea: Gabe seemed upset, and it seemed like more than just friendly concern, so --
Sage: It's a baby! Most people care about babies, decent people. You're probably just concerned about being saddled with Gabe's kid, huh?
Chelsea: Oh, no, no, no --
Sage: Don't worry, Chelsea, because it's not his kid. He's not the father, and you don't have to worry about me cramping your style!
Adam: Whoa, whoa. What's going on here?
Sage: What's going on is I'm telling your whatever she is here that you and I never had sex and this baby is not yours!
Adam: Is that why you came here? To ask her that? We already went over this.
Sage: You -- what are you, fixated or something?
Chelsea: I'm so sorry. I should not have come here.
Sage: No, you shouldn't have come here!
Chelsea: I did not mean to upset you.
Sage: Get out!
Adam: Chelsea --
Sage: Well, go on. Go after her. I'm supposed to be sleeping, not dealing with your drama. My job is to keep this baby safe and healthy, not placate your paranoid girlfriend.
Adam: But she's not paranoid, Sage. This baby could be mine, right?
Sage: No, it can't!
Nick: Sage is in a hospital bed right now worried about her unborn child, and you're trying to figure out a way to use this to your advantage?
Sharon: Okay, I'm gonna assume that you're tired and you're upset and you're just looking for someone to yell at, but that person shouldn't be me, Nick. I offered to help, not take advantage. There's a difference, and you used to know that.
Nick: Yeah, well, there's a lot of things different now.
Dylan: Hey. Is this what you want faith to hear? Seeing you guys like this does not help her at all.
Kevin: How can you say the interview is a bad idea?
Abby: And how can you insist it's a good one?
Kevin: I literally just covered this, Abby. Why is it so hard for everyone to admit that I'm right?
Mariah: Oh, good. We're talking about the same thing.
Kevin: Sharon would have gone to jail if we hadn't kept digging, but we kept pressure on the GCPD. But now they think a dead guy is the killer. However, we know the danger is still out there. This documentary is a public service.
Mariah: I am not going on TV with a huge caption under my face, saying, "stolen from mother, raised by cult leader, involved in a murder case."
Kevin: Okay. So, it's safe to say that you side with summer and Abby?
Mariah: It's a personal opinion, not a side.
Abby: You know, you could just say yes, you side with us.
Kyle: It's not about sides, all right?
Mariah: I need to cut lemons. Leave me alone.
Kevin: No, not until you admit that this is a good idea!
Avery: Guys, is this about the interview? Summer just told me.
Mariah: And you rushed over to tell us what a bad idea it is, right?
Avery: Actually, I'm here because my deposition got delayed, but --
Kevin: Okay, so you came to say that it's a good idea, that it can encourage the GCPD to reopen the investigation and you would have done the same thing when you were working with the innocence foundation? Thank you, Avery.
Avery: Well, it's true. We do use journalists as researchers, but never to publicize the results outside the courtroom. Once a trial is in the media, it's very hard for the authorities.
Kevin: Well, it's just an interview.
Avery: Yeah, one you can't control. And since you're all putting yourself in the public eye --
Abby: Or not.
Kevin: You love the public eye, Abby. It's your thing.
Abby: Was. Now -- not so much.
Avery: Putting yourself in the public eye is risky.
Kevin: Leaving a killer on the loose is a little riskier, wouldn't you say?
Kyle: You have to admit, he's right on that point.
Abby: Since when?
Kevin: Since now.
Abby: No, I thought we agreed that we shouldn't do this.
Kyle: Yeah, but look, this killer, he's cocky as hell, and the cops don't seem to be reacting. I mean, if this could convince them to just dig a little bit deeper into the case, then --
Avery: Kyle, can we have a private moment, please?
Abby: Oh, yeah, if you can talk some sense into him, take as much time as you need.
Kyle: Okay, what's wrong? Why do we need privacy?
Avery: Well, we don't need privacy, but I think summer deserves it. And a public interview could be a disaster for her.
Joe: You're just like your aunt -- focused and driven.
Summer: I don't think anyone has ever described me like that. My mom, yes. But I don't think I've ever really been focused.
Joe: Well, things change. People evolve.
Summer: That's true.
Joe: Must be hard. Didn't get enough time with Austin. He seemed like a great guy. You two were in love. I'm sorry things didn't work out, that whole promo piece.
Summer: Austin was complicated. I don't know. Maybe we got married too fast or for the wrong reasons. I don't -- I don't know.
Joe: Yeah, that's what happened with Avery and me. Too fast, too young. She wasn't a priority. I spent too much time focused on my work, and I got what I deserved. What happened to you and Austin, I mean, nobody deserves that. Yeah, well... that's it.
Summer: That's it? Are you sure you don't need to do more?
Joe: We did the whole set. Thank you. You're -- you're a great coach.
Summer: I can't imagine, you know, what it's like to fight for something that you used to take for granted.
Joe: Yeah, well, it makes it easy when you got someone like Avery standing by your side. I don't know how I can repay her. I mean, I owe her everything.
Summer: She just wants you to recover.
Joe: Yeah, which makes fighting to walk so much easier.
Summer: I think you'll do it.
Joe: Thank you.
Joe: Well, have a nice day, summer.
Summer: Thanks. You, too.
Avery: I understand why you think this interview was a good idea.
Kyle: To motivate the police. Which summer would want if she took a second to think about it.
Avery: Okay, no one is closer to this than summer. She has the most to lose. And in the wrong hands, the facts of this case could be twisted and manipulated. The world could see summer in a way that isn't true.
Kyle: What are you saying here? That they could pin this on summer? The cops already know that she's innocent.
Avery: Yeah, but the producers could imply that she's happy her cheating husband is dead so she can reunite with her first love.
Kyle: That's not what this is about.
Avery: I know it's not what it's about. And summer is very grateful to have you, but that doesn't mean you need to throw it in the news.
Kyle: This is nuts, Avery. There's nothing wrong with summer leaning on me.
Avery: No, there's not. And it seems like you two need each other in some very important ways. Just beyond this interview, take things slow. Make sure you have the same priorities, because sometimes no matter how much you want something, the timing is just wrong.
Dylan: No one needs you two going after each other like this. At least not in front of faith.
Faith: You're mad at mommy again?
Nick: Nope. I'm not mad at anyone but myself for being late, so why don't you say goodbye to mommy and Dylan and let's get you to school?
Sharon: Love you, baby. Don't forget to share all those cookies.
Dylan: See you soon, okay? That was a crummy way for faith to end her visit. What -- what happened?
Sharon: Sage had to have her appendix out, and that's why Nick forgot to bring faith to school today, so I offered to help and Nick accuses me of trying to take advantage.
Dylan: Trying to get more time with faith.
Sharon: You know, nine months ago, we were raising faith together. Now all of a sudden, I'm the enemy again? Things are never gonna change. This is the way we're always gonna deal with each other now.
Dylan: Sharon, you don't know that. Obviously nick's worried about Sage. He's worried about the baby. That's -- that's a lot to deal with.
Sharon: There's always a lot to deal with somehow, and Nick always feels entitled to talk to me like that.
Dylan: That should change, okay? And we'll see what we can do. But right now, nick's stressed out. We're not gonna bring it up. All he's thinking about is his baby pulling through this.
Sage: Don't you ever say that! Ever say that about this baby!
Adam: Sage, relax.
Sage: Do you hear me?
Adam: It's true, though, right? That baby could be mine.
Sage: No. What are you even doing here hovering? Of course Chelsea's gonna have questions.
Adam: You're my ex-wife, Sage. We're friends, okay? I'm your friend.
Sage: Okay, she doesn't see it that way, Adam. She sees that you're lying to her. She's harassing a pregnant woman. She brought me flowers to see who the paternity of this baby was.
Adam: Why don't you take a breath, okay?
Sage: What are you even doing here?!
Adam: Calm down, all right?
Sage: Calm down? You're making up lies!
Adam: Lies? We had sex, Sage! That's how babies happen!
Sage: No! God, no! That's how this baby happened for me and Nick. Me and Nick! Not you! This baby -- [Hyperventilating]
Adam: Take a breath.
Sage: This baby -- this baby is a miracle.
Adam: What's happening?
Sage: This baby is --
Adam: What -- what's happening?
Sage: This baby is Nick's. This baby is Nick's! Don't you understand?! Get out! [Hyperventilating]
Nick: It's okay.
Nick: Why don't you go back to sleep?
Sage: No, I-I wasn't sleeping. Uh, did you drop faith off?
Nick: Uh, yeah. Yeah, I did. The nurse told me your blood pressure spiked?
Nick: I'm not freaking out yet, but stop doing that, okay?
Sage: Okay, I'm -- I'm -- I'm perfectly fine now. It's just, um, you know, uh, Chelsea and Gabe came by one after the other. I-I think it was just too much. Got excited and...
Nick: Of course he came. Stressing you out. I mean, this guy uses you for his inheritance, and then he's trying to pretend like he's your best friend?
Sage: No, no, he -- he just thinks that because of our history that he's entitled to come by, and he's not, so I told him that he can't, and I handled it.
Nick: Well, you shouldn't have to. Don't worry. We're gonna leave it alone. I'm gonna have my own talk with Gabe.
Nick: Don't worry. It's gonna be civil. Mostly. I'm just gonna let him know he can't come anywhere near you or my baby.
Sage: No, Nick, you can't.
[Knock on door]
Adam: Hey. Thought I'd find you here.
Chelsea: Sage okay?
Adam: Yeah. Yeah, she's okay. Her blood pressure took a jump, but she's okay. I was, uh, uh, invited to leave, so...
Chelsea: That's awful.
Chelsea: I'm awful. Going there and bothering her when she just got out of surgery? I don't know why I did that.
Adam: Why you did that? You were trying to figure out if the baby was mine, right?
Chelsea: But why? Why couldn't I just trust you? And -- and it doesn't even matter. It's not my business if it's your baby, anyway. I mean, you -- you have your own life.
Adam: You know, I'm not interested in having my own life if you're not in it. And as for why you didn't trust me... Chelsea, let's be honest. I've done nothing but lie to you. I-I lied to you about my marriage to Sage, about only wanting to be friends with you. I lied to you about why I moved in across the hall from you, why I took the job at Jabot. It's a bunch of lies. No more lies, okay? From now on, just... coming clean about everything. Tell you the truth. Including the truth about Sage's baby.
Sharon: Um, you know, if you just turn it to the left...
Dylan: I know, but it's supposed to go to the right.
Sharon: Yeah, I'm saying you just nudge it to the left, and then turn it to the right.
Dylan: Just nudge it to the... [Chuckles] I bow to the expert. How did you know that?
Sharon: Well, you know, co-owning this place all those years taught me to problem-solve.
Dylan: Well, the number-one requirement in any field is problem-solving.
Sharon: I wish I had a field to problem-solve in. You know, my days used to be filled with either working here or being a spokesmodel, plus I was raising the kids at the same time. And now Noah's grown. I don't see a lot of faith. Chelsea never hires me to be a fit model. I just have too much time on my hands.
Dylan: Well, maybe you need a job. If not for the paycheck, as public service, to share your problem-solving skills with the world.
Sharon: Technically, I don't need a paycheck.
Dylan: Did Jack have you working with the models at Jabot?
Sharon: Until Phyllis fired me. And now Victor is part owner, so there's never gonna be a place for me at Jabot.
Dylan: Well, you know, there are other jobs in Genoa city, even if it feels like the Abbotts and Newmans own the whole town.
Sharon: That's true. But I'd have to go through the interview process.
Dylan: Yeah, but you were -- you were a spokesmodel.
Sharon: Yeah, just -- I don't know if I have that same confidence now.
Dylan: What are you talking about? You're still you. All you have to do is get the person interviewing you to see that.
Sharon: I can feel the panic rising just talking about it.
Dylan: Well, don't fear. I can help you with that.
Avery: So the deposition was scheduled, postponed, rescheduled, and then postponed again? Unbelievable. All right. Keep me posted. Hey. Hi. Summer.
Summer: I had to find you.
Avery: Is it the interview? Are they pressuring you to give an answer now?
Summer: No, it's not about that. It's -- it's about Joe.
Avery: Oh, my God. What happened? Is he okay?
Summer: No, Joe -- Joe is -- Joe is okay. He's better than okay. You have no idea.
Dylan: Hmm. Well, ms. Newman, why exactly
Dylan: Hmm. Well, ms. Newman, why exactly did you leave your last place of employment?
Sharon: Well, sir, I left because I was fired by Phyllis Newman after she found out about a paternity-test result I switched in regards to her daughter and my ex-husband. And that's when I would walk out because he would be mortified and I'd be horrified.
Dylan: I don't think you really want to go that way.
Sharon: No? And that's the problem.
Sharon: What do I say?
Dylan: You have to figure out a way to frame the truth in a way that makes you hirable. I know you. You can do this. Come on.
Sharon: Okay, um, Jabot underwent some changes, and my position was phased out. Which is actually true, because as far as I know, I was never replaced.
Dylan: Is there anyone there who can vouch for your skills?
Sharon: Well, if you were to speak to Mr. Neil winters, the former head of fashion, I'm sure he would tell you that I am dedicated, committed, and respectful. As a liaison, I had to work with both the management and the staff, and I was able to relate to both of them in a very effective and productive way. Based on my own experiences, I have a compassion that helps me draw the best out of the people that I work with. It's one of my best traits. I'm really proud of it.
Dylan: Wow. You're hired. You're hired. When can you start?
Sharon: Yeah, if only it were that easy.
Dylan: Actually, it is, because I have a job opening here. The pay -- it's not good. The boss -- incredible.
Chelsea: This is my fault, not yours. I'm the one who went to Sage's room. I'm the one who asked her questions I had absolutely no right to ask. It's -- it's not about you lying. It's about me, about who I am. It -- it goes back to my childhood, I guess. It's about lying and cheating and skipping out on rent. It's about my mother never telling me who my father was. It's about me lying to Dylan about Connor and Adam lying to me about Delia. I am just screwed up. [Chuckles]
Chelsea: I don't know how to be normal, and I don't know how to really trust somebody or believe in somebody. It's the truth.
Adam: Stop it. None of this is your fault, okay?
Chelsea: It -- it is. There's always been some big lie in my life, you know? Whether it's been one I told or a lie somebody else told me. And, um... it ruins everything. It ruins my entire life, and that will happen. That will happen with you, too.
Adam: No. No. It won't. Listen, if there's one thing that I want you to believe... it's -- it's in us. It's this, what we have, okay? If there's a way for me to make that happen --
Chelsea: But maybe -- maybe you can't. And that's -- that's because of me. That's my fault, not yours.
Adam: Listen, believe in this -- my feelings for you, all right? Everything I've told you. That's the truth. I'm not going anywhere, okay? Come here.
Sage: No, please, Nick. The thought of you and Gabe getting into it, I... I mean, you just got back, and I want to see you. Will you just sit with me?
Nick: Of course.
Nick: Take it easy.
Nick: I'm here. And I'm not going anywhere. So don't worry about me or Gabe or the baby. I know that's hard.
Sage: It's not so hard. Things happen during pregnancies, even when mothers don't have surgery. This baby's really special to me 'cause it might be my only chance. And you have kids already of your own, and...
Nick: That's why this baby means as much to me as any child ever has. I mean, this past year, I have seen all of my kids get their hearts broken, and it's been... it's been really tough. You and this baby... you're my silver lining. You're a sign that life can bring something new and amazing, even when the worst happens. I'm scared. You and this baby, you mean so much to me. And the thought of anything happening to either one of you...
Kyle: So you saw Avery at the police station?
Summer: Yeah, but we didn't talk about the interview.
Kyle: Well, she stopped by here first, and we did talk about it. And I think the interview's a bad idea.
Abby: This is after he was sort of for it, by the way.
Summer: But you're totally against it now, right?
Kyle: I am. Look, we don't know what kind of questions they'll ask or how they'll twist the answers. You know, and if they twisted things and -- and hurt you somehow --
Summer: Which they could, and they probably would.
Abby: Look, I don't want my business out in the media, but...
Kyle: Seriously? Now you're for it?
Abby: No, you said it yourself. If it nudges Paul to reopen the investigation and find out who's really responsible... okay, I'm allowed to waffle. You already did.
Kevin: All right, you've cut your lemons. Now explain to me how this is a bad idea. They do the interview, the cops get on board, the actual, real killer could end up in jail. And I don't buy that you don't want to do the interview because you're worried somebody might bring up Ian.
Mariah: I don't want to do the interview because if I say yes, I might end up going to jail.
Kevin: What? That -- that's insane.
Mariah: Look, what if the killer didn't post that response on GC buzz? What if it was someone who wanted to save your ass and keep you out of jail?
Kevin: You posted the "catch me, I'm a crazy killer" response? Are you crazy?
Mariah: It was supposed to be a favor. You're welcome.
Kevin: So it was a lie. Which means the killer --
Mariah: It wasn't Tobias Gray, and it isn't me. But if the cops find out that I posted that response... Kevin, you've got to help me.
Joe: Well, there she is, my pillar of strength. Well, your niece is no slouch, that's for sure. You must be hungry. You want to get some lunch?
Avery: You must be tired. You want some water?
Joe: Yeah, that'd be great. Thanks.
Avery: Go get it, then.
Joe: What's the matter, Avery? You mad about something?
Avery: Is there a reason I should be? Maybe because you've been lying to me all this time? How long have you been able to walk, Joe?!
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Jack: You lost Jack Abbott?
Victor: I said shut your mouth.
Jack: I offered you a chance for a fresh start!
Marisa: And you really think all I want is a payoff?
Lily: You need to back off. Just because you can't hold on to your own husband doesn't give you a right to mine.
