Episode # 10599 ~ Hilary's world is rocked by Devon; Neil's life is turned inside out.
Provided By Suzanne
Sharon: You're all I have now, Cassie. Everyone else is gone. All I wanted was to be with Nick. To raise our little girl together. Be a family. And I worked so hard... to be strong and healthy so that Nick would love me, but...what was the point of all of those hours of therapy and...mountains of pills and the ECT and for what? Only to be abandoned again. I put myself through so much. And what did I get out of it? I'm alone again. All because of one bad decision I t well.
Summer: Well, Noah told me not to go to Dad, because I guess Faith is pretty wiped out.
Austin: Next few weeks are gonna be really tough. I mean, she was planning on living with both her parents.
Summer: She's too young to know it now, but she's gonna be so much better off being with my dad. You know, for one thing, he's less likely to use her the way that Sharon did with both Faith and me to get what she wants.
Austin: I got to bus tables.
Summer: Can't Mariah just do it?
Austin: Actually, I don't know if she's coming into work today.
Summer: Well, is she on the
Austin: Noah said she had a really tough day in court. Then he told me about her testimony, honestly, my respect level for her went up like 100 notches. Who knew that she could tell truth, and apparently her being honest for a change is what really tanked Sharon.
Mariah: Without meaning to, I helped Nick destroy my mom's life and you think I'm happy about that. [Sighs]
Nick: Good night. Man.
Noah: Grandma and Grandpa take off?
Nick: Yeah. How's Faith doing?
Noah: She wasn't laughing when I read her the pirate book with all the funny voices, but she fell asleep.
Nick: Thanks for sitting with her.
Noah: Poor kid. She had a really rough day.
Nick: Yeah, I tried to protect her from all this. I tried with you and Summer, too.
Noah: Well, you had your mind on custody, so...
Nick: Look, I'm sorry. I know this hasn't been easy for you, either. And you're stuck right in the o of this. I wish there was some way I could make it up to you.
Noah: Maybe there is.
Nick: Name it.
Noah: Look, if you could just reassure mom that this might not be forever consider giving her a second chance, I think that might make all the difference in how she handles things. There was some hope.
Cane: All right, sweetheart, you are imagining things.
Lily: I'm not stupid. Colin has to be holding --
Cane: Like what?
Lily: Well, I saw you two talking earlier and you looked upset.
Cane: Well, that's how my dad and I communicate. You know this.
Lily: No, no. This is different, 'cause after talking with him, you go from being her equal to then reporting to her. So what did he say to you to make you change your mind?
Cane: He made me realize that Jill is a better leader than I thought.
Lily: I know your father and it's more likely that he brought you into that realization.
Cane: All right, listen. You are looking for conspiracies where there are no conspiracies to look for.
Lily: Listen to me. Ever since Victor forced y out, you have been dying to run that company again. I know you. You wouldn't just step aside and let Jill d so what did he say to you and why won't you tell me what it
Neil: Yeah, I'll try. Give Moses a kiss for me, all right? Tell the little boy I love him. Yeah, I will. Thanks, Sophia. Bye-bye. Poor little Moses. I can't bear to think that I'll never see his beautiful face again. I can't believe that I've been dropped from this clinical trial.
Devon: You know, there has to be other research go that's similar to what this guy's doing.
Neil: Well, if there is, I don't know about it. I have followed every lead for trinindness. According to specialists, the spheres of light I'm seeing, they're as good as it's gonna get.
Hilary: Do you mind if I talk to him? You know, maybe there's a question that wasn't asked or, you know, there's another doctor that could look over his findings?
Devon: Yeah, if the guy's any good, won't mind you getting a second opinion.
Neil: No. Just let it go. I'm gonna lay down for a little while.
Hilary: Devon, he was so happy earlier. So optimistic. So were we. We were gonna tell him as soon as he got his eyesight back, and now that looks like it might never happen.
Hilary: We can't keep lying to him forever. It's not fair to any of us.
Devon: What are you saying?
Hilary: I want to tell Neil. We're gonna hurt him, Devon, okay? There's no way around that. But the longer we wait, the harder it's gonna be.
Devon: You don't know that.
Hilary: The only decent way to handle this is to tell him the truth now. Tonight.
Devon: All right. How about this. How about we give him just a few days to digest what the doctor just told him. And then I promise you, we will tell him the truth together.
Hilary: A few more days. That's it. No more putting this off.
Devon: I swear to you. We will be together soon. And we won't have to lie to an we can just be together. I promise you. Okay?
Cane: There's nothing more I can tell you, sweetheart.
Lily: I think there is. I was in the office with Jill, I saw her with Victor, I realized she has more experience than I do, okay? And she has better connections --
Lily: Why are you lying to me?
Cane: I'm not lying to you. L lily: Look, just -- [Sighs] Please, before you say anything else, just please think about what lies have done to our marriage. You told me that was behind us. Just be honest with me. Does Colin have something on you and now you know is that what it is?
Cane: Sweetheart, listen to me. You're seeing things that aren't there, okay?
Lily: I noticed that when came up with the money to buy chancellor, you seemed very upset.
Cane: I didn't realize I looked upset. Was I upset?
Lily: Yes. You were upset something wrong about that?
Cane: All right, listen to me. I don't know what more I can say to you.
[Cell phone chimes]
Lily: Wait. [Sighs] There's an emergency in the rooms.
Cane: Do you want me to come help you?
Lily: No, I'm gonna handle it. Just please stay here. I'm not finished with conversation.
Mariah: I know it was probably fun for you sticking it to my mom in court today. Nothing like payback. But it wasn't
Summer: Mariah, I didn't say it was fun. For either of us, okay I was complimenting you on being honest at the witness stand. That was actually really brave of you.
Mariah: It wasn't. It was stupid, because Sharon and I got in a fight, I told her where to shove it, and now I'm homeless.
Austin: Wait, seriously?
Kevin: You're not homeless. I just said you could live with me.
Summer: So... are you Kevin?
Nick: Look, the judge ordered us to revisit custody in a year, and we're gonna do. Sharon knows that.
Noah: The trouble is I don't think she believes that, dad. Look, the only way that she's gonna get through this, reach out. Give her something to hold onto it. That the situation is gonna loosen up if she stays on track. Come on, dad. Please. And it has to come from you.
Nick: Look, I appreciate your a and Sharon's blow-up in court, it's got me worried, too. But it just happened today.
Nick: So, things settle down. We'll try and adjust to the new future take care of itself.
Noah: What about visitation?
Nick: What about it?
Noah: You're gonna let mom and Faith see each other, right?
Nick: Of course I am. If Sharon seems stable and looks like she can handle it, certainly. She's Faith's mother. Faith needs her. But I'm not trying to punish either dede.
Nick: We both know how your mother can react when she feels like she's backed into a corner. Sometimes she's incapable of stopping herself. Look, it's my job to protect my child. Faith is too young to handle Sharon's manipulations. You and Summer -- you're good. But I have to protect Faith. What if Sharon does something damaging?
Noah: She hasn't. She won't.
Nick: You don't know that.
Noah: Mom is taking care of herself, and she feels terrible about what she did, but... if you take away any chance that things are gonna get better, what is her incentive to keep on taking her medication, seeing her doctor? Huh? That's why I'm just asking you, please, show her you're not a brick wall.
Nick: You're a good son. And I promise you that I will keep an open mind.
Noah: Thank you. I appreciate it.
Nick: All right.
Noah: I'm gonna get back to work. Just call me if you need anything.
Nick: I will.
Noah: Bye, dad.
Nick: See you, bud.
Nick: It's okay. It's okay. Daddy's here.
Nick: Daddy's here. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. You want to tell me what happened?
Faith: There was a monster -- a great, big one.
Nick: What? Where?
Faith: Under my bed. He chased me out of my room. [Sniffles]
Nick: Oh. Well, you know, if he was that big, I would have seen him. I didn't see him.
Faith: What if he comes back?
Nick: Well, isn't that what miss patsy's for? She's tough, you know? She scares those monsters away, keeps you safe.
Faith: Not this one.
Nick: All right. Well, then, I'll scare him away. Yep, I'll tell him if he's gonna get under your bed, then I'm deder his. He doesn't want that.
Faith: It won't work.
Nick: What will work, then? Hey, I know. How about a glass of warm milk? That always seems to get you a little more calm.
Faith: I want mommy!
Sharon: We are very blessed to have our family reunited again, and there is nothing that we would love more than to share it with someone who doesn't have a family of her own.
Mariah: I don't want to intrude.
Sharon: You wouldn't be.
Noah: [Clears throat
Summer: Faith, honey, why don't you set the table for five and Noah will help you.
Nick: So today was not what anyone expected, huh? Noah said you were upset that we didn't get to the husband and wife part.
Faith: It's okay. You guys are meant to be together, no matter what.
Noah: Okay. Everybody smile. Serious face. Now everyone else smile.
[Camera shutter clicking]
Lily: At least no one was hurt.
Cane: So what happened?
Lily: One of the beds collapsed while a guest was on it, so I just comped her room for the night and I'm gonna have maintenance check the rest of the beds to make sure they're safe.
Cane: That's a good idea.
Lily: So... you ready to be honest with me now?
Devon: Hey, guys. I have some news I figured you'd want to hear in person. Um... did I interrupt something?
Cane: No, Devon, everything's great. So what news do you have? Is it good news?
Devon: Well, no. It's not great news. Um... I just got back from Neil's, and he got a call from his eye specialist, and they told him that based on his last test results, he's being dropped from the experimental trial study.
Lily: What? He was trying not to be excited about it, but I know he wanted this so much.
Cane: He's gonna be crushed.
Devon: You know Neil. He's Mr. Stoic, but I can tell that he's hurting.
Cane: Especially when he didn't deserve any of this, huh?
Lily: You know what? Dad's resilient, though. As sad as he is, I know he's gonna be fine. I mean, he's adapted so well to being blind, you know? And I know it's because of Hilary. She's been such a strong, positive force in his life, and, god, I never thought I would say this, but... thank god for her.
Hilary: Hey. Did you sleep?
Neil: No, no, no. I didn't. I just needed some time. That's all. What happened? Devon left or what?
Hilary: Uh, yeah, he left awhile ago. Hey, come here.
Hilary: What could I do for you, huh? Can I get you some tea? Huh? Maybe we could put on some music.
Neil: No, no, no, no. No. Thanks. I'm good. I really do appreciate you trying to cheer me up. That's very nice of you, but... I got to be honest with you, that right now, this is the first time that I am almost glad that I can't see anything, because I don't have to look in your face and see how unhappy you are. Baby, I know -- I know how much that you want our old life back, and I can't give you that. But what I can give you -- I can give you a good life, and I can give you all of my heart, all of my love, all of my soul.
Hilary: Okay, Neil, just stop. Okay, don't say another word. [Sighs] This is -- it's so wrong.
Neil: What? What are you talking about? What's wrong?
Hilary: There is something that I've been meaning to tell you, but I've just been putting it off. I can't do that anymore.
Lily: Oh, there's the guest whose bed, by the way, collapsed while she was on it, but she's fine. I'm gonna go check on her.
Cane: You do realize my wife isn't stupid, right?
Devon: What does that mean, Cane?
Cane: It means that she does not buy that I gave up the top spot at chancellor without a fight.
Devon: Why? What did she say to you?
Cane: She knows something is going on. And she knows that Colin is probably behind it. Do you understand it is not going to take her much longer before she figures out what is going on between you and Hilary and Neil, that I've been covering this up for months? Do you understand?
Devon: I do understand this, and Hilary and I have made the decision today that we're gonna tell Neil the truth after we give him some time to adjust to the news the doctors just gave him, 'cause he's too depressed.
Cane: Oh, okay, that's going to make him so happy when he finds out his son has been having an affair with his wife while his behind his back while he's blind.
Devon: Cane. Cane.
Cane: I'm done with lying to lily. You understand?
Devon: I do understand that.
Cane: You understand this?
Devon: If you tell lily, though, she's gonna go to Neil, and you and I both know that news needs to come from me and Hilary. We need to be the ones to explain to him and apologize and let him know that we had no intention of hurting him. And that we would have told him months ago if he hadn't had his accident. And if Neil can take in any of that, if he can understand, then that's my shot at him forgiving me.
Cane: Well, I wish you good luck with this, but I'm done with being caught in the middle, and the truth has to come out as soon as possible.
Neil: You said this is wrong. What are you talking about? What does that mean?
Hilary: It's wrong that you're not getting your sight back and it -- it's wrong how much you love me after everything that I've done to you. I'm so ashamed.
Neil: I already forgave you for that. It's in the past. Why are you bringing that up now?
Hilary: You don't understand.
Neil: Yes, I do understand. We are not going down that unworthy road again. How many times do I have to tell you, Hilary, that I love you?
Hilary: This is
Neil: You have nothing to feel guilty for!
Hilary: I can't do this. I can't do this. I have to go.
Neil: What are you talking about? Hilary! What's -- Hilary! [Sighs]
Mariah: My life is none of your business.
Summer: Is she moving in with you, because if so, I am all for it.
Noah: Whoa, wait a minute. Is that true? Are you guys gonna live
Mariah: Oh, my god. What is wrong with all of you? Don't better to talk about? I'm gonna go clock in.
Austin: I got to get back to work.
Noah: Wow. Man, that's huge. So, is it a done deal?
Kevin: Look, I -- I made the offer. Mariah is considering. Whatever happens, happens.
Noah: For the record, I'm grateful. You know, she tried to do the right thing back at that custody hearing. Well, it backfired.
Kevin: Same thing happened to you, right?
Noah: Pretty much.
Kevin: Sharon couldn't handle the truth coming out?
Noah: She feels betrayed.
Kevin: Why? Because you and Mariah don't want to go to jail for perjury?
Noah: I think my mom will get over it. Could take awhile, but in the meantime, I appreciate you looking out for Mariah. My mom will see that this custody decision isn't the end of enen she has time to get used to the new arrangement... I think she'll realize that Mariah and I aren't the enemy.
Sharon: [Sniffles] Traitor!
Cane: Hey. How'd it go with the guest? Is everything okay?
Lily: No, everything's fine.
Lily: I just need you t to me. Are you ready to be honest with me now? No interruptions this time. What is going on with you? C Cane: Sweetheart.
Lily: Stop. Listen to me. Whatever this secret is, you can tell me. Okay? I love you. Our marriage has been through so much, and yet we're still together. That's why it hurts me that you feel you can't be honest with me. I mean, there is nothing that you can say that can change what we have together
[Knock on door]
Devon: Hey. What are you doing
Hilary: I can't do this, Devon. I can't. I can't live with myself. Okay, I know -- I know that we agreed that we would wait, but I had to leave. We need to go right now. We need to find Neil and we need to --
Devon: Hilary --
Hilary: Okay, no. I'm not gonna convince myself that I am a good person, all right? I know that I'm not. I have done some terrible things in my life, but what we going to do to Neil right now is -- it is horribly, horribly wrong, okay? And he hasn't done anything to deserve it. All he's ever done is love me.
Devon: I understand this is hard.
Hilary: This isn't hard, okay? This impossible! I almost told him the truth myself. But don't worry. I am - okay? I couldn't find the words. He's devoting his life to me, and I just -- I can't handle it, and I just storm out.
Devon: Sweetheart... take a breath.
Devon: I understand how you're feeling, but you got to listen to me. For us to blow Neil's world apart after his doctors just told him that he'll probably never see again, we can't do that to him. We can't. We have to give him some time at least before we start piling on more bad news. He's a strong man. You know he's strong. But he's human. And if anything can drive him back to start drinking again...
Cane: You are right. I've been keeping something from you, but now I'm done. I don't want there to be any more secrets, okay?
[Cell phone rings]
Nick: Hey. It's me.
Sharon: What do you want?
Nick: I need help with Faith. I, uh, I hate to ask.
Sharon: Is something wrong?
Nick: Faith had a bad dream, and she's insisting. Can you come over?
Sharon: Uh...I'll be right there.
Summer: Hey, I meant what I said before.
Mariah: Sincerity -- that's a first.
Summer: I know that today wasn't easy for you, but from what Noah told me about your testimony, you really did the right thing. Sharon was wrong to try to use Faith the way that she did.
Mariah: And I'm sorry. How did Sharon use Faith?
Summer: By putting her on the stand and hoping that she'd tell the court that something sexual was going on between my dad and that Sage woman, when there really wasn't.
Mariah: And Nick was no better. He used you and Noah and anybody else he could find to badmouth Sharon.
Summer: We did not badmouth Sharon. We told the truth. Just like you did. Sharon is a danger to Faith and everybody around her. Honestly, you're lucky that you're out of that house.
Hey. Lady. I'm looking for Nick Newman. This is the third time I've come by. If he doesn't show up, there could be trouble.
Noah: I'm Noah Newman. Do you have some business with my father?
Noah: Building inspector?
Noah: Uh, what can I do for you, Mr. Chaikin?
Well, the last time here, I left word that Nick Newman was to meet me here at 9:00 P.M.
Noah: Well, he's not around.
Are you expecting him?
Noah: Not tonight, no.
What a surprise. Your old man's never had the courtesy to get back to me.
Noah: You know, this is the first time I've h Mr. Chaikin. I'm kind of surprised my dad never mentioned it.
Oh, that's the guy I talked to. Hey, kid. Do you give your boss my messages or not?
Austin: I'm not in the habit of keeping things from my employer. Sir.
Noah: Look, uh, Mr. Newman's been tied up some family issues.
All right. I'll leave my card. Again. Have your dad get back to me as soon as possible. This place has structural problems. We need to talk about some solutions or I'll have to close it immediately.
Summer: Hey, um, did you give my dad that guy's messages?
Austin: All right, look, I meant to tell Nick, but all that stuff was going on with Joe Clark and I guess I got distracted. Look, it didn't seem that important, anyway, and the guy's a jerk. Did you see how rude he was?
Summer: So you just blew it off?
Austin: That's not what I meant.
Summer: Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you, but, honestly, what if my dad's club does really shut down? That's just one more complication he doesn't need in his life right now.
Sharon: Oh, honey. What happened?
Faith: There was a monster under my bed.
Sharon: [Gasps] Oh, my gosh. Wow. Well... let's see. What did he look like?
Faith: I'm afraid to talk about it.
Sharon: Maybe if daddy got your crayons you could draw him and then that way I would know what we're dealing with.
Faith: I guess so.
Sharon: Oh. So... what did he look like?
Faith: He was blue.
Sharon: Blue? Mm, blue like the cookie monster?
Faith: No, like a mean blue.
Sharon: Oh, okay. Well, show me.
Faith: He was hairy.
Sharon: Hairy and blue? Wow. How many legs did he have?
Faith: Two. No. Six.
Sharon: You sure he didn't have eight, like an octopus?
Faith: Maybe it was four.
Sharon: Was he wearing socks?
Faith: [Chuckling] No!
Sharon: Bunny slippers?
Faith: Mommy, he's a monster!
Sharon: Well, it is cold outside. His feet might get cold, too.
Faith: Can I have hot chocolate?
Sharon: For you or for the monster?
Sharon: [Chuckles] Does the monster want cookies with that?
Sharon: Well, you'll have to brush your teeth again.
Sharon: And you'll have to brush the monster's fangs.
Sharon: You can fall asleep now. You're safe. Mommy's here.
Cane: Okay, I know I've been distracted lately, and I've been doing a bunch of things that don't make any sense.
Lily: Yeah, when we keep things from each other, it becomes a burden. It's best to just be open.
Cane: I couldn't agree with you more. So --
Lily: So what? What is it?
Cane: All right. All right. Let me tell you.
Neil: Hi. Lily, I'm so glad I found you.
Cane: Hey, I'm here, Neil.
Lily: What's wrong? What's going on?
Neil: Have you seen Hilary, by any chance?
Lily: No. I thought she was with you.
Neil: No, she was. We were at home talking, and then suddenly she bolted out the door without any explanation.
Neil: I don't know what happened or where she went. Can you help me find her? She hasn't been answering my calls or anything. I'm very worried about her.
Hilary: Don't let me go, okay?
Devon: I won't. I won't.
Hilary: This is just -- it's all gonna blow up.
Devon: Not if we keep our heads, it won't. I promise you.
Hilary: Devon, I just know. I know that if we don't tell Neil soon, it's --
Devon: Shh, shh, shh, shh. Everything's gonna be fine. I promise you we will figure this out. I promise, okay?
Lily: You know, I'm gonna call the office. Maybe she went back to work. I'll be right back.
Neil: Thanks, lily. I don't know what came over her.
Cane: What talking about?
Neil: You know, it's weird. She was about to tell me something and it really didn't sound good, then she just off, totally out of the blue.
Cane: Okay, all right, listen, um... I'll try her on her cell phone, okay? Um... why don't you go and check on Devon, all right? Maybe he's heard from her. What do you think?
Neil: Yeah, that's fine.
Cane: It's okay? All right, listen, here's the key. Take the west elevator, all right? Then you'll see the private suite.
Neil: Okay. If you get a hold of her, then please would you --
Cane: I will. I will. I'll let you know, all right?
Neil: All right.
Cane: Okay. Be careful.
Mariah: That would just be awesome if this place gets shut down. Then I would be homeless and unemployed.
Kevin: Will you please stop saying that you're homeless?
Mariah: Why? Because I deserved it for mouthing off to Sharon?
Kevin: Because you're really not. Homeless, I mean. Not if you don't want to be.
Mariah: So... hypothetically, if were to move in with you, what would be your expectations?
Kevin: Hmm. My expectations. Hypothetically? Let's see. I would expect gobs and gobs of hair in my drain, I would expect half-eaten yogurts in the fridge.
Mariah: I don't like yogurt.
Kevin: Oh, fighting over the remote.
Mariah: Oh, that sounds like me.
Kevin: Why do you ask? What are your expectations?
Mariah: You know what I mean.
Kevin: Look, I made the offer as a friend because I know you need a place to live. That is all.
Mariah: Well, then, in that case... I accept. As a friend.
Austin: So, did I call that or what? I mean, I've been saying they were gonna be a thing for weeks now.
Summer: Yeah, I wish you'd paid as much attention to the building inspector as you have to Mariah and Kevin. I mean, maybe then my dad wouldn't be in so much trouble.
Austin: He and your dad are gonna work things out.
Summer: Okay, and if they don't? Austin, it's gonna reflect really badly on you.
Austin: I'm not worried. Everything's going to be okay. Did you feel that?
Summer: Feel what?
Austin: Like a gust of wind or something. It blew the candle out.
Summer: I don't know. Must be a draft in here.
Sharon: I think she'll be okay now.
Nick: Yeah. Sharon. We'll, uh... we'll talk about visitation in a few days. Let's just give her some time to get settled in.
Nick: I really appreciate you coming by. Especially today, given the circumstances.
Sharon: I'm her mother.
Nick: Yes, you are. Thank you.
Sharon: Good night.
Nick: Good night.
Neil: [Gasps] Oh! Oh, my god!
Lily: No one at Jabot has seen Hilary, so I'm thinking maybe she went to Jack's house to deliver something. I'm gonna call him and see if he knows where she is.
Cane: It's okay. We can call off the search.
Lily: Oh, dad found her?
Cane: Something tells me he's about to.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Cane: Do you have any idea how much damage you are about to cause this family?
Nikki: What do you mean we have a guest?
Victor: Phyllis is going to stay with us for awhile.
Phyllis: And I need you to take this and just go.
