Episode # 10580 ~ Nikki clashes with Victor; Nick quizzes Gabriel about his past; Lauren encourages Michael to open up about his diagnosis.

Jack: This building needs better security.

Victor: I would say it does. If people like you are allowed to lurk in the hallways.

Jack: Haven't you done enough damage to this town today? Why do you have to cast your shadow on Billy and Chelsea's doorstep?

Victor: I'm here to see my grandson, Jack. Oh, come to think of it. Maybe he isn't my grandson anymore. Maybe you had time to manipulate the birth records or tamper with the DNA results.

Jack: Okay, you and I both know that isn't fair. Sharon is responsible for what happened with Summer.

Victor: You bet, and you were only too happy to go along with the lies, weren't you, Jack? In fact, you wanted Summer so badly to be an Abbott, you didn't even conduct your own DNA test, did you? Got news for you. She's a Newman. She ain't an Abbott.

Jack: I will love and respect Summer regardless what her last name is, which means I would never even think of stooping to deceive her into signing important documents about her mother's health.

Victor: Of course you wouldn't. Righteous Jack. That's right. If it were up to you, your fiancée would still be languishing in a coma in that hospital room, whilst you're cavorting with what? What's her name?

Jack: Okay, that's enough.

Victor: Why are you here, by the way, Jack? Got another woman stashed away here somewhere? Huh? While your fiancée was unconscious? Is that when you met her?

Jack: I am here to see Billy. I was invited. Were you?

Avery: Oh! Where did all those people come from?

Dylan: Who cares? I'm just glad they showed up.

Avery: Dylan, we could really win this. For the first time, it feels like we can win.

Dylan: This whole time, it's felt like just you and me and a few friends giving a damn about crimson lights, but seeing those people out there, holding their signs up and cheering.

Avery: I know! It matters to them and that's what's gonna help us fight this. [Sighs]

Paul: Well... exciting night, huh?

Dylan: Pretty unbelievable. Now we know who the true enemy is -- Victor.

Avery: Being able to put a face and a name to the person tearing down this neighborhood gives us some much-needed momentum.

Dylan: All right, so what's our next move? Getting people to boycott Newman-chancellor.

Avery: I am gonna launch a media assault.

Paul: Or you could just walk away.

Avery: Walk away? Paul!

Dylan: You want me to give up? Why?

Paul: Yeah, Nikki, it's me. Listen, uh... I just wanted to make sure you're okay. I know this whole thing with Victor came as a shock. And I wanted to let you know that if you want to talk or you feel like having a drink, I just hope you call me first.

Nikki: Don't worry, Paul. I have everything under control.

Lauren: You're early.

Michael:. Oh. You too. Miss me?

Lauren: Mm. Bunches. How bad's the pain?

Michael: Mm. It's not terrible. It's just there.

Lauren: Here?

Michael: Yeah. Thanks. [Chuckles]

Lauren: So, um, you know, we need to discuss how we're gonna do this tonight.

Michael: Dinner? Mm...fork to mouth? Unless they've come up with some other technique.

Lauren: How we're gonna tell our friends.

Michael: I don't want to talk about that tonight.

Lauren: Honey. We need to.

Michael: No, I'm not going to have a "welcome to Michael's cancer" dinner.

Billy: How do you feel about Connor calling me "daddy"?

Chelsea: I'M...relieved. I mean, since Connor started talking, he's called stuffed animals, my mom, even me "daddy," so at least he's getting the gender right.

Billy: [Chuckles] Why do you always do that? Every time this happens, you make a joke out of it.

Chelsea: Oh, I'm sorry. Billy Abbott is telling me I'm joking too much?

Billy: [Chuckles] Okay, fair enough. But it is kind of serious. How do you want to handle this?

Chelsea: I don't know. I guess I've just been avoiding making a decision about it.

Billy: Look, Chelsea, if you want him to call me "Billy," it's fine. Just say so, and the next time that "daddy" comes out of his mouth, we'll correct him. It's -- it's not that big a deal, you know?

Chelsea: Billy. Everything is a big deal when it comes to telling Connor who his father was.

Billy: You don't have to explain to me.

Chelsea: No, I do need to explain, because I can see that it's hurting you, but... Connor, he's getting older. Old enough to understand. So I can't just shrug my shoulders and let him assume.

Billy: You know what? Forget I brought it up.

Chelsea: Just please understand. For my son's sake and my son's heart, I have to keep Adam alive.

Adam: Yeah, Juliet, she was a hell of a girl. [Chuckles]

Nick: What?

Juliet was a sailboat. I can't believe you don't remember that. The Gabriel Bingham I knew would never forget that.

Adam: Yeah, no, I mean, you know, maybe to you she was just a sailboat, but, uh... you know, to me she was -- she was my first love.

Nick: [Laughs]

Adam: She was! No, I'm serious. Hey, listen. I'm stuck in the Swiss alps, I'm at an all-boys' school. It's easy to think of a sailboat as the sexiest thing in the world, right?

Nick: Boy, I hear you. I mean, from time to time, I can think about the shape of that hull.

Adam: Oh, yeah. Although I'm more of a stern man, myself. Always have been. Always have been.

Nick: [Laughs]

Sage: So nice to know you have such good memories from school.

Adam: Yeah.

Nick: Well, the only problem with that is that Juliet wasn't exactly a good memory, right bingo?

Adam: No, it was not. Sorry to say.

Sage: What happened to her?

Nick: She sank to the bottom of the lake.

Nick: Juliet sank.

Nick: Actually, what Gabe should be saying is that he crashed her and she sank.

Sage: Gabe crashed a boat?

Nick: Oh, yeah.

Sage: That's so typical.

Adam: Yeah, I mean... nick, come on. You weren't exactly an angel.

Sage: Oh, really? Ooh, do tell.

Nick: First, you got to tell me. I mean, what happened after you sank the Juliet?

Sage: Weren't you there?

Nick: I transferred back to school here in the U.S., So I never heard about the fallout. So, you got to tell me, man. How bad was it?

Adam: [Chuckles]

Sage: [Chuckles]

Adam: Uh...

Victor: And, by the way, I don't need an invitation to visit my own flesh and blood.

Jack: A warning might be nice. Do they even know you're coming?

Victor: This is ridiculous. It's none of your business.

Jack: No, it's my business, all right. Connor is my godson.

Victor: An irrelevant title with no substance, Jack.

Jack: It certainly seemed important to Adam. He wanted me to protect his son.

Victor: Protect him from what? From me?

Jack: It was, I believe, Adam's wish that you not interfere in Connor's life.

Victor: And who are you to interpret Adam's final wishes?

Jack: I was closer to Adam than most anyone in this town, and he certainly shared a lot more with me than he did his own father.

Victor: Well, that is indicative of how distorted Adam's mind was at the end of his life.

Jack: Adam made mistakes. Plenty of them. But he is who he is only because of you.

Victor: Why are you speaking of Adam in the present tense?

Adam: Crashing that beautiful sailboat was not my finest hour. I've sort of blocked it out, if you can imagine.

Sage: Speaking of great stories, you said that you were Gabriel's big brother in school?

Nick: Yeah, I was a couple years older, but as you should be able to tell by now, he was a lot better at corrupting me than I was at keeping him in line.

Adam: Oh, come on.

Sage: What kinds of things did you do?

Nick: Just typical boy stuff. I mean, we're at a boarding school in Switzerland. There's not exactly a big nightlife.

Adam: Well, didn't stop us from sneaking out from time to time, though.

Sage: Like, doing what?

Adam: Oh, uh, we would, uh, ski. A lot of skiing. Skateboarding.

Nick: Come on! That's the little stuff. I want to know how did this mess with the Juliet pan out?

Sage: Was it really that big of a huge deal?

Nick: It was only the biggest thing that ever happened in our school, considering that Juliet was the headmaster's boat.

Sage: No!

Nick: Yeah. His pride and joy. So I'm sure you can imagine it was wow. How'd you get out of it?

Adam: How'd I get -- yeah, you know, I -- gosh, I really don't want to talk about that tonight. Uh... it's -- I mean, it's probably obvious. My grandmother ended up bailing me out of that, so...

Nick: Oh, yeah. You were lucky to have her, Gabe.

Adam: Yeah, I was. She, uh, she saved me, you know? More than once. So... hard to believe she's gone.

Sage: She was a wonderful woman. We're really gonna miss her.

Nick: I understand. Again, if there's anything I can do. [Laughs] But if you ever get a chance, you got to tell Sage the Juliet story.

Sage: Probably wouldn't be able to remember all those details anyway.

Adam: Probably not.

Sage: [Laughs]

Adam: Probably not.

Sage: Why don't you tell us?

Adam: Well, hell. Now, there's an idea. Why don't you tell the story? I could use a laugh about right now, anyway.

Nick: Okay. [Laughing] So, it started out as a good deed. One of our friends was responsible for securing the boat, but he did not moor her properly.

Sage: So it drifted.

Nick: Oh, yeah. It drifted. So, Gabe and this other dude jump into the lake, swim out there, and try and retrieve her.

Adam: I just blindly jumped into the lake, you know? 'Cause that's the kind of guy I am.

Sage: Yeah. You are. [Chuckles] So how did it crash or...

Nick: Problem was, once Gabe got on the boat, he just had to find out what she could do, so he got it up to full speed, hit some debris in the water, and then shewm! Pow!

Adam: Killed Juliet.

Nick: You killed her.

Sage: [Sighs]

Nick: There's a lot of stories like that.

Adam: I'm afraid that's probably true.

Billy: Chelsea, it's okay. You want to keep Adam's memory front and center for your son.

Chelsea: It's important to me, Billy.

Billy: I understand.

Chelsea: No, you don't, because I don't think I really understood until now. I want my son to be proud of the good things that his father did. I want Connor to know how much his dad adored him.

Billy: Then we will make sure of that.

Chelsea: But I also want my son to have a father who's a man of honor and strength and compassion. So, I don't think that Connor could have chosen a better person to call daddy tonight.

Billy: [Chuckles] You make me sound like some kind of role model.

Chelsea: Well, you are, to Connor.

Billy: Chels, I shouldn't be. I mean... I've made so many mistakes.

Chelsea: Well, so have I. We'll just teach him to do better than we did.

Billy: Then you can count on me.

Jack: It's the truth! You can't deny it!

Chelsea: [Sighs]

Victor: Do not presume to dictate to me about my children, my grandchildren.

Chelsea: What is going on out here?

Victor: Jack is being... rather impolite, rather rude about Adam's death.

Jack: Hardly.

Victor: Hardly? You spoke about him in the present tense. As if he were here.

Jack: I misspoke.

Victor: Well, that's utterly inappropriate!

Michael: I thought you understood how I feel about this.

Lauren: Honey, I understand not telling Gloria. But Christine? No.

Michael: It's private, Lauren.

Lauren: It is cancer, and you are already feeling pain and having symptoms. Do you think you could keep that from the chief of police and the DA?

Michael: If Paul and Christine randomly ask me if I have cancer, then I will tell them the truth.

Lauren: Why are you waiting?

Michael: Why rush this?

Lauren: Because they love you, and they're our friends.

Michael: I want to wait.

Lauren: [Scoffs] How do you think they're gonna feel when they find out what you have gone through and we didn't say anything? What if the tables were turned?

Michael: [Sighs] You know what I hate about this? I hate that if I tell Paul and Christine, then this dinner just can't be dinner. That if I talk about sports or movies, people will just be thinking about my cancer.

Lauren: We need to be around people that we don't have to put an act on for. They were with us during the hardest time of our life.

Michael: I know that.

Lauren: We need their support. And they need to know that we turned to them when we needed help.

Michael: "We"?

Lauren: Yes.

Michael: [Sighs] Sorry. Sorry. I forget that I'm not the only one facing this.

Lauren: Oh, honey, believe me. I would love, love to block this out and pretend it wasn't happening. [Sighs] You start radiation soon.

Michael: All right, okay. I will share this with them, for your sake. [Sighs] It will not be easy saying the words.

Lauren: Well, just, you know, say it fast. Then we'll just talk about David Fincher films. Maybe no one will notice.

Michael: You really do love me, don't you?

Lauren: Don't you ever forget it.

Michael: [Chuckles] Hey!

Lauren: Hi.

Christine: You two seem happy. Hi.

Lauren: Hi, sweetie.

Michael: Hey. Where's Paul?

Paul: Oh, well, with the warehouse district news, he's probably with Dylan. But I hope he gets here soon. We have some news to share.

Michael: Oh, well, so do we.

Paul: Look, I am not asking you to completely give up and surrender.

Dylan: That's what it sounded like.

Paul: I don't want you to give up, son. I guess what I'm suggesting is that you -- you let someone else man the charge for the rest of the war.

Avery: This is Dylan's place. Why shouldn't he be the one to fight for it?

Dylan: You know, ever since I found out that you were my father, what's impressed me most about you is that you're a man of principle. You stand up for what you believe in. How can you ask me to do less than that?

Paul: [Chuckles] I guess what I'm afraid of -- [Sighs] I'm worried about Nikki.

Dylan: Because of Victor.

Paul: This puts your mother in an incredibly difficult situation.

Dylan: That's true.

Avery: The online headlines are already playing up the "her husband versus her son" angle.

Paul: Well, I'm sure the media is eager to write the next chapter in Nikki's troubles.

Dylan: Paul, I see your point. And, of course, I'm concerned about Nikki, too, but I don't see how me dialing back is the answer. That would mean letting Victor win.

Jack: I was talking about Adam because he's been on my mind lately. Little Kate's christening has reminded me of Connor's. That is all.

Billy: You're not alone, Jack. Those thoughts seem to be going around.

Chelsea: That's understandable, Jack. Why are you here?

Victor: I came to bring you something.

Chelsea: Uh, what is it?

Victor: It's a report on Connor's Newman-chancellor stock.

Chelsea: Oh. Thank you.

Victor: And then, of course, I would like to see him, if I can.

Chelsea: He would love that, but he's already sleeping.

Victor: Oh.

Jack: Eager to tell the little fella about your latest potential conquest?

Billy: What -- what's that?

Jack: Oh, Victor's been very busy decimating crimson lights and the rest of the warehouse district.

Chelsea: Wait, you're the one who sold the property to the redevelopment project?

Victor: You never stop, Jack, do you? Uh, don't worry about it, my sweetheart. It's not decided yet. Um, it's pending.

Chelsea: But that could destroy Dylan's business, amongst others.

Victor: Well...

Billy: Oh, I'm sure the great Victor Newman considered all of that, and then just dismissed it as collateral damage.

Victor: Developing the downtown district would ensure my grandson's legacy. And it would make Genoa city much stronger.

Jack: I guess we'll see about that, won't we? I will come by and say hello to Connor another day, okay? When it's less crowded around here.

Chelsea: Well, you know you're always welcome.

Victor: All right. Thank you. Nice to see you.

Chelsea: You too. Bye.

Billy: [Scoffs] Maybe he'll call first next time.

Jack: [Chuckles]

Chelsea: I doubt it, but I'm not ready to write off Connor's grandfather yet.

Billy: No, I'm not asking you to.

Jack: So what's up? Why did you want to see me?

Billy: I wanted to ask you something. Something important.

Sage: I'm sorry we can't visit longer, nick, but we are in the middle of making funeral arrangements.

Nick: Yeah, no. I totally get it. Gabe, again, I'm so sorry about your grandmother.

Adam: Oh, thanks. You know, thank you.

Nick: Hey, just remember.

Mut verloren, alles verloren.

Adam: Auf wiedersehen.

Nick: What happened? Did I say something wrong?

Victor: Can we talk about something other than me?

Nikki: Ah, what I want doesn't matter.

Victor: Who says? What's the matter?

Nikki: Nothing. I'm fine. Leave me alone.

Victor: What do you mean, leave you alone? Just because we have an argument, I'm not gonna stop helping you through an M.S. episode.

Nikki: It is not an M.S. episode. It's you. M.S. is nothing compared to what you've done.

Victor: I haven't done a damn thing! What the hell is the matter with you?

Lauren: Hey!

Paul: Sorry I'm late.

Christine: I was able to keep a lid on our news barely, but I think Michael and Lauren have some news of their own.

Paul: Oh, really? Let's hear it.

Michael: No, no. You tell yours first.

Paul: Uh...

Christine: We're pregnant. [Chuckles]

Lauren: Wow!

Michael: Oh, my God! Congratulations!

Lauren: We're so happy for you!

Christine: We are so happy, too.

Paul: Now, Chris is a lot more nervous than I am. I wanted to announce it to the world right after she took the pregnancy test.

Christine: Now that I'm further along, I'm actually starting to believe it, that we're actually going to have a baby.

Michael: Well, we're old hands at this. If you need any help.

Lauren: Yeah, parenting tips, pregnancy tips.

Christine: Trust me. We're counting on it.

Paul: All right, now let's hear it. What's your news?

Christine: Yeah.

Billy: Chelsea and I have been talking a lot about the importance of positive father figures.

Jack: Why? Is there a problem?

Chelsea: Not at all. Speed it up. You're making him nervous.

Billy: [Chuckles] Okay. Well, since you are the most positive father figure that I know, I was wondering if you'd do me the honor of being Katie's godfather.

Jack: Thank you, but... Victoria has some say in this.

Billy: Vick is completely on board with my choice.

Chelsea: And I pointed out what an incredible godfather you've been to Connor, so...

Jack: I take the position very seriously.

Chelsea: I'm gonna check on the baby, let you boys chat.

Billy: Well?

Jack: Yeah, of course. I would be thrilled to represent the Abbott family.

Billy: Thanks, Jack. It means a lot, knowing that I can always count on you.

Jack: You can always count on me -- always. So, just keep me up to date on the christening, and I'll be there.

Billy: Okay. I will. And there's something else I've been meaning to ask you.

Jack: What's that?

Billy: The new guy at Jabot, Gabriel Bingham? What's this guy's deal? I mean, what's his new position gonna be?

Nick: Did I say something to upset him?

Sage: Well, I don't know. What did you say?

Nick: I was just trying to wish him well. You know, to have courage and be strong. It was a saying at our old school. This coach used to just hammer it into our heads.

Sage: Right.

Nick: "Courage lost, all lost." I thought it would bring back some good memories for him.

Sage: Gabriel's not feeling very, uh...happy right now. It's an emotional time.

Nick: Yeah. Losing someone you love. It flattens you.

Sage: It really does. Well, thank you so much for coming, nick.

Nick: Yeah, just tell Gabriel I'll, uh...you know, I'll stay in touch.

Adam: Well, that can't happen again.

Sage: All right. What do you suggest we do to nick to stop it?

Paul: So...what is it? What's your news?

Michael: Well, a few weeks ago, I, uh... I made a --

Lauren: Fen made the dean's list.

Christine: That's fantastic.

Paul: That is fantastic! Not that I'm at all surprised.

Lauren: You know, after everything that happened to him last year, we didn't even think that he'd go to college, let alone do so well.

Michael: And you two helped make that happen.

Christine: Please tell fen how happy we are for him.

Paul: You know what? This gives me an idea. I think maybe we should hire him now to tutor our little one on the way. You know, before he gets too expensive.

[Both chuckle]

Christine: How about a toast to both of our blessings?

Paul: Absolutely.

Michael: To blessings.

Paul: Congratulations. To you and to you.

Christine: [Chuckles] I'm so glad we finally got to tell them.

Jack: Gabriel is gonna be a great asset to Jabot. He has a marketing degree, extensive background traveling in Europe.

Billy: Okay, so, he's familiar with the fashion and cosmetics industry?

Jack: He will be a dynamic force in moving Jabot's products forward worldwide. Why are you worried about him?

Billy: He just hit me wrong.

Jack: How so?

Billy: I don't know. Nothing specific. He just -- I didn't like how he just showed up here, though.

Jack: He showed up at your home? Why would he do that?

Billy: Said he was interested in renting something in the building.

Jack: Coincidence.

Billy: Maybe, but I don't like the way he looks at Chelsea.

Jack: Why are you worried about that? You two are doing just fine these days, right?

Billy: Yeah. It's getting better every day. But your tone just now -- what? Did you think I was gonna blow it?

Jack: This is a rebound relationship for both of you. Those can be problematic.

Billy: Are you really worried about me and Chelsea?

Jack: I am concerned. Things are moving pretty fast.

Billy: [Sighs] Chelsea and I have known each other for years, Jack. I mean, we've been through childbirth and raising kids, death and loss. Where is this coming from?

Chelsea: I think I can answer that. It's about Adam, isn't it?

Adam: That cannot happen again. I need to be prepared, you know? So I don't get inadvertently tripped up in another one of nick's rah-rah boarding school memories.

Sage: All right, well, just, you know, whatever he brings up, blow past it. He'll let it go.

Adam: No. No, he won't let it go. You don't know my brother. He's got this white knight complex, you know? The moment he senses any kind of distrust, he jumps on his steed and there he is, off to the rescue. He's a real hypocrite.

Sage: So, in this scenario that you just pointed out, are you the dark knight and I'm the damsel in distress?

Adam: You are definitely not a damsel in dist--

Sage: What? What?

Adam: He likes you.

Sage: You think so? No, I don't --

Adam: You know, look, don't flatter yourself. This is just the way his prehistoric caveman brain works. You know, "pretty girl rescue me, I fall in love with pretty girl." He's a simpleton.

Sage: Yeah, he's a nice guy, which is why the two of you don't get along. What's your plan?

Adam: I'm gonna use my best asset. You. You're gonna keep an eye on him for me.

Sage: You want me to spy on him for you?

Adam: Well, it's the wifely thing to do.

Avery: Nick.

Nick: Hey.

Avery: Hi. Did you hear the latest?

Nick: What happened now?

Avery: Your father and the redevelopment project?

Nick: Oh, yeah. I heard about that. Can't say I'm surprised.

Avery: Well, I shouldn't be shocked, either, but I can't believe he would betray Nikki like this, and now Dylan is on the warpath. Nick?

Nick: Sorry. What?

Avery: Nick, what's going on with you?

Nikki: You know, I do feel physically ill right now, but not because of any disease. Because of your lies and your behavior. You deliberately hurt my son.

Victor: Sweetheart --

Nikki: And that has just left me exhausted and physically ill.

Victor: You are tired right now, okay? Let's discuss this when you feel better, all right?

Nikki: What? When you do it again? Because that's what always happens, Victor. I forgive you and you hurt me again!

Victor: Will you please stop it now?!

Dylan: What's going on?

Nikki: Dylan, it's --

Dylan: What did you do?

Victor: Who are you, walking into my home?

Dylan: I'm Nikki's son. Do you want to leave?

Victor: Are you serious? You walk into my home uninvited and you're asking her to leave? The only one leaving is you!

Dylan: You think you can shout commands and the entire world jumps? You should have learned from your attempt to put me out of business that I will stand and fight for what I care about, and that includes my mother.

Victor: It was a business decision. Nothing else.

Nikki: Dylan, thank you so much for your concern. I don't want to be the cause of any more trouble.

Dylan: You're not the cause, Nikki. I am. You going after my business -- is this really about money? Or is it really about your wife having a son with Paul Williams?

Victor: You do not come into my home and speak to me like this, all right? You calm down now. Don't spin what is a pure business decision into some sinister plot.

Dylan: You're hiding behind your business.

Victor: I don't hide behind anything or anyone. You got that?

Dylan: I know how you work, Victor.

Victor: If I have a problem, I come to you and face you. I discuss it man-to-man. Not like you!

Dylan: You think taking crimson lights is protecting my mother?

Victor: That was a pure business decision!

Nikki: Stop it, stop it! Both of you! [Sighs]

Dylan: Are you sure you're all right here?

Victor: She is all right here. Leave.

Dylan: Not until I know --

Victor: I said leave!

Dylan: Not until I know she's okay.

Victor: I said leave!

Nikki: I'll be okay. I can handle this. I'll be fine.

Dylan: You call if you need anything.

Victor: Get out now!

Nikki: [Sighs]

Victor: These young punks think they're tough.

Nikki: Dylan is not the cause for any of this.

Victor: Wait a minute. Obviously he stirred it up! It's not good for you!

Nikki: He's not to blame for this!

Victor: Let's discuss this when you've calmed down, okay?

Nikki: Fine. I'm not sharing a bed with you.

Victor: You're what?

Nikki: You heard me.

Nick: I've been feeling unsettled, I guess. Kind of at loose ends.

Avery: Okay, well, a custody battle would make any parent worry.

Nick: I'm sure most of it is about faith, but I'm trying to get a grip on my own life.

Avery: Nick, you're a wonderful parent. Don't ever doubt that.

Nick: I'm questioning the years of my life with Sharon, even the years before.

Avery: And what brought this on tonight?

Nick: Uh... I ran into an old friend.

Chelsea: You feel some loyalty to Adam, don't you? Even after what he did. Even though he's gone.

Billy: More loyal than you feel to your own brother?

Jack: You know that could never happen. It's -- I just -- I don't want to see either of you get hurt.

Billy: Look, just stop worrying, Jack. I mean, this -- this woman is sweet and funny and smart. And sometimes downright mean.

Chelsea: Hey!

Billy: Look, the last thing I would ever want to do is hurt her.

Chelsea: Jack, I was -- I was a wreck when I lost Adam. I -- I mean, you remember for months I didn't believe it. I didn't think it was [Sighs] Even true for awhile. But since then I've had to face some very hard facts. And I've been able to move on now with someone that I can lean on and can laugh with and can build a life with. And someone that I love. Trust me. When this started, we were thinking what you're thinking, that it wasn't gonna go anywhere, but it has somewhere, and now... you know, I really can't imagine my life without Billy in it.

Billy: Look, Jack, we believe we can make this work. Is it that tough for you to believe it, too?

Both: Hey.

Avery: How was Nikki?

Dylan: She looks sick. And shaky. And I hate the fact that she's married to that egomaniac.

Paul: Dylan, what's going on?

Dylan: Hey, I just wanted you to know that I went to check on Nikki and she's doing okay, not great.

Paul: Thanks for the update. And, listen, I promise I will keep a close eye on Nikki.

Victor: What do you mean you're not coming to bed with me.

Nikki: I'm staying in the guest room.

Victor: All right. Have it your way.

Nikki: Victor, this was not an everyday corporate decision. You intentionally hurt my son. It was an attack on him.

Victor: Just because you and your son see it that way doesn't make it so.

Nikki: Do you not remember how hard I tried to accept Adam? I think the least you could do is accept somebody as upstanding as Dylan.

Victor: None of what you're saying makes any sense to me, okay? We'll discuss it all when you're more reasonable.

Nikki: [Sighs] [Sighs]

Jack: I can promise you I have never had any problem with you and Chelsea being together. I simply want what is best for both of you.

Chelsea: Well, come by anytime you like, Jack. And thank you.

Jack: Thank you. See you at the office.

Billy: Mm-hmm. You know... I can tell that you're still not 100% behind this relationship. I'm trying to protect you, Billy.

Billy: Jack, what is the risk? My life isn't gonna do the 180 that yours is. It's not like Adam's gonna rise up out of a hospital bed like Phyllis did. Chelsea's taken her wedding rings off, and I'm getting my tattooed one removed. Connor is even calling me Daddy.

Jack: Don't get too attached.

Billy: Geez, Jack. Again, this is not your life. I've already been through the worst, with Delia and with Vick, and I learned from that, and nothing is going to rip Chelsea and Connor away from me.

Jack: You can't anticipate the future. I got to go.

[Door closes]

Sage: Thought you wanted me to keep my distance from nick.

Adam: Well, plans change, and since I have to be in Genoa city to win Chelsea back, it's obvious that I'm gonna be running into my brother, so I need to know more about these boarding school memories that are gonna keep popping up.

Sage: So, research online. Review the alumni site and --

Adam: That's not gonna have any of the personal details these two shared. I need to know what's going on inside that guy's thick skull.

Sage: Okay. It protects my interest as well.

Adam: Good. Very good. Dig deep. All right? You need to pound him for all the information you can. You need to make sure nick keeps thinking that I'm his old pal Gabe.

Nick: Gabriel was expelled? How can he not remember that?

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

[Glass shatters]

Neil: Whoa! Hey. What was that?

Ashley: Victoria is just so devoted to you now that she's not gonna do her father's bidding? Really?
