Episode # 9763 ~ Lily's Stunned to Learn the Truth About Cane's Mission
Provided By Suzanne
Proofread By Emma
Tucker: Why would Malloy want to meet us at some warehouse way out in the boonies?
Ashley: It has to do with the murder investigation, obviously.
Tucker: Yeah. Something about this doesn't feel right.
Ashley: Do you think he-- he found something that could make it look like one of us killed Diane? You think?
Tucker: (Sighs) Oh, come on. Let's not imagine the worst, huh?
Ashley: What else could it be?
Tucker: Well, you know... (Sighs) We're gonna find out as soon as we get there, so let's not worry about it. Let's change the subject. I know just the thing to take your mind off all this.
Ashley: Oh, I'd like to see that. What?
Tucker: Something we've been puttin' off talkin' about for a long time-- our wedding.
Ashley: It's a nice change of subject.
Tucker: It is, isn't it?
Tucker: You know, when I promised you a day we'd never forget, I obviously didn't imagine it would be in a hospital room. So I want you to have it all this time around. We're gonna renew our vows, and then we're gonna throw the party to end all parties, huh?
Ashley: I love it. Mm, sounds fabulous.
Tucker: Yeah. So tell me, you gonna want Traci to be your maid of honor?
Ashley: No. I want Abby.
Tucker: Well, uh, the groom is one of her least favorite people. You really think she's gonna agree?
Abby: What you guys doin'? Just hangin' out?
Genevieve: Maybe not for long. Your uncle just seems to have gotten a text he doesn't like.
Jack: Oh, nothing I have to deal with right now. Have you heard the good news? Jabot is mine again.
Abby: (Sighs) Congratulations! When did that happen?
Jack: Tucker and I finalized the paperwork today.
Genevieve: Can you join us for a celebratory drink?
Gloria: E-excuse me, everyone. Genevieve, did you get my message about not being able to come to the house? I'm so sorry, but with the day I've been having--impossible.
(Cell phone rings)
Genevieve: E-excuse me just a minute. Hello? What?
Lily: (Coughs) What happened?
Cane: There was a gas explosion. I got you out just in time. (Coughs)
Lily: How did you know I-- did you follow me here? (Coughs)
Cane: No. I saw you arrive at the house.
Lily: Why were you watching the house?
Cane: My father put out a hit on my mother, and that's why the explosion happened.
Lily: Is she okay?
Cane: She wasn't there. (Coughs)
Lily: Thank God. Where's Colin now?
Cane: (Coughs) I don't know.
Colin: Jill, look, I don't know what you've heard, but... it's all a big mistake.
Jill: (Chuckles) You just never let up, do you? Sweetie, when I left the room, I came back, and I heard this phone call that you made about "There's a new wrinkle," but we're gonna go ahead with the plan anyway." Sound familiar?
Colin: (Laughs) That's it? (Laughs) I mean, how do you know you're not screwing up a great big surprise that I'm planning?
Jill: Wow, you really think I'm stupid, don't you? You know, there was a time I would have bought it, but not now. Now I'm seeing you for who you really are.
Colin: (Sighs) Oh, Man. Look. (Sighs) When we first got married, we didn't know that much about each other. We followed our hearts. (Sighs) Yeah, I've done a few things I'm not too proud of, things I probably should be held accountable for. But you... but you were the one genuine thing I'd found in my life. My love for you-- that was real. Look me in the eye and-- a-and say you believe that.
Phyllis: "Urgent! Meet me at the warehouse on the corner of Main and Edwards in two hours. I need to talk to you A.S.A.P. There's a leak at the station." Call a plumber.
Phyllis: (Sighs) Hey. Don't sneak up on me like that.
Nick: What are you readin'? You sure seemed pretty absorbed.
Phyllis: No, n-nothing. Um, I saw the picture from Sharon's trial in the paper. Interesting. You didn't want to give that to "Restless Style"? I mean, why put Faith through that for a publicity stunt and, I mean, and not give it to your own magazine?
Nick: It was not my idea, all right? I was forced into that. I'm not thrilled that picture was published, but Avery was adamant that it could help Sharon.
Phyllis: Avery. Huh. So you put Faith through that because of Avery. Avery talked you into it?
(Cell phone alert chimes)
Nick: Hold on.
Phyllis: What is it?
Nick: It's from Ronan.
Victoria: Oh, good. Thanks for stopping by. You're never gonna guess what I got-- a text from our favorite detective. Dad, look at this. What do you think it means?
Victor: Well, just that he wants to meet with us.
Victoria: Well, wait a minute, "Us"? You got one, too?
Victor: Uh-huh. As I was leaving the house.
Victoria: Do you think that he could have found out that I saw you with Diane the night she was killed?
Victor: Listen to me. Talking about that, you and I better get our stories straight, all right? I don't know what Malloy is planning.
Ronan: Hey, all right, so the ambulance just arrived, and my partner's gonna bring over the paramedic to check you out, okay?
Lily: Thank you. (Coughs)
Cane: You okay?
Ronan: You should be thanking Cane, actually. He saved your life.
Cane: I'm just glad I saw you go into the house.
Lily: How long have you known about this?
Cane: (Sighs) About Colin?
Cane: A while now. I've been working with the authorities to get information so we could bring him down and put him away for good.
Ronan: And as of tonight, we've done just that. Cane, we... we couldn't have done this without you, all right? Your husband's a hero.
Chance: This is the young woman I was talking about. Her name is Lily Ashby, and she inhaled a lot of that smoke, okay?
Lily: Chance? Wait, you're in on this, too?
Genevieve: Uh, yes. Yes, I'll be right there. Okay. There's been an explosion. My house is on fire.
Gloria: Oh, my God.
Abby: What happened?
Genevieve: I don't know. I don't know. I've gotta get there right now. Thank God no one was home.
Jack: Okay, I'll go with you.
Gloria: Me, too. I-I love that old house.
Abby: Hey, uh, good luck.
(Cell phone rings)
Abby: (Sighs) Hey, Mom.
Ashley: Hi, Honey. I'm at home. Would you please come by? There's something I want to talk to you about.
Abby: Um, yeah sure. I'm on my way. Okay. When did I get a text? From Detective Malloy?
Victor: (Sighs) What I haven't told you-- thank you-- is that, um, Malloy knows I was in the park the night Diane Jenkins was killed. They positively identified my shoe prints.
Victoria: Which means he knows that I lied about you being with me.
Victor: What he doesn't know is that you were in the park, as well, and you saw me and Diane.
Victoria: Do you think that he's hoping I'll crack and admit something?
Victor: Well, obviously, he's trying to put pressure on us. Let me handle this, all right?
Victor: You say as little as possible. Just remember that neither of us killed Diane Jenkins, so he doesn't have much to hold over us.
Victoria: Right. Um, but there is something that I have sort of been meaning to tell you.
Victoria: I lost a bracelet. And, um, I've looked for it everywhere, but it just hasn't turned up. And I'm pretty sure I was wearing it that night in the park. I mean, it's just this little thin gold bracelet, which is why I didn't find it, I guess. But what if I--what if I dropped it in the park, and what if... what if Ronan has that as proof that I was there, too?
Man: You've got some smoke in your lungs. Otherwise, everything looks okay. Still, I recommend that we take you to the hospital.
Cane: Let the doctor check you out to be safe, okay?
Man: I'll be back for you shortly.
Lily and Cane: (Coughing)
Ronan: Well, as soon as you can confirm that, why don't you get back to me? Out.
Lily: So you both were working on this with Cane?
Chance: Well, not just us-- the police, FBI, Australian authorities and the U.S. Military.
Lily: Are you serious?
Ronan: I don't think you realize the scope of this case. I mean, it went international as soon as Colin followed Cane over to Genoa City. It was a very, very intricate sting.
Chance: He branched out into the drug trade via the Middle East. That's where I came in.
Lily: This is... unbelievable. No wonder you couldn't say anything.
Cane: I'd been working with the FBI even before Caleb's death. I hated lying to you, but I had no choice.
Ronan: If Cane would have broken protocol, a lot of people's lives would have been in jeopardy. Yeah, this is Malloy again. Can I get the whereabouts on the suspect? Over.
Jill: Do you know how much I want to believe you?
Colin: Then do it. Trust me.
Jill: Oh, how I wish I could.
Colin: Let me help you.
Colin: Come here.
Jill: (Sniffles) No! (Sighs) Never again will I kiss your lying lips.
Colin: Oh, Jill!
Jill: It is over! And you know why? Because you've torn me apart twice! And you're gonna pay for it. (Breathing heavily)
Jill: (Sighs) This is Jill Abbott. I'm here with Colin Atkinson. We're in his suite at the Athletic Club. (Chuckles) No, he's tied up at the moment, but I'll keep an eye on him. And then when the police arrive, you can do with him whatever you want.
Nick: Thank you.
Phyllis: A text from Ronan? About what?
Nick: You already asked me that.
Phyllis: What if I were to tell you...
Phyllis: That I received a text from him, too?
Nick: Okay. Mine says that he wants to meet me way the hell out of town.
Phyllis: Yeah, that's what mine said. What is he up to?
Nick: I don't know. Do you remember the night Diane was murdered, how she summoned us all to the park? Maybe Ronan's trying to psyche us out. You know, like with that fake blackmail note?
Phyllis: Yeah, that-- that was just to shake you and Ashley up. I don't know what he'd want with me, unless he has evidence on you, and he's trying to get me to rat you out.
Nick: (Scoffs) Evidence on me? What about you? Both of our alibis were blown up.
Phyllis: That's right. And since we weren't together at the time of the murder, we really don't know what either one was up to, do we?
Nick: That's right.
Phyllis: Yeah. And that story that you told the police, the new one, that could be bogus, couldn't it?
Nick: Phyllis, you don't really think I killed Diane, do you?
Phyllis: (Chuckles) Well, you don't think I killed her, do you?
Nick: I don't know. Did you?
Abby: I heard you sold Jabot to my Uncle Jack. I was a little surprised.
Tucker: Well, I want your mom to be happy. And I gotta tell you, I'm, uh, I'm glad to see the company back in Abbott hands.
Abby: Yay for you. It really was cool.
Ashley: Well, I hope you're gonna feel the same way when you find out why I asked you to come here.
Abby: Give it a try.
Ashley: Okay. Um, even though we had that wedding in the hospital, and it was lovely, and very intimate, we'd like to have a real wedding in front of our family and friends, and I guess that means then I need a maid of honor, and so maybe, I guess, I'm asking you.
Abby: (Sighs) Seriously?
Ashley: I know. It's crazy, huh? Um, I guess I'm hoping that in spite of all the problems we've had that me asking you to be my maid of honor will prove to you that I have faith in you still, and faith that you're gonna get to know Tucker the way that I do. So will you do me the honor of being my maid of honor?
Ronan: That's exactly what I wanted to hear. We're on our way. Out. Well, Gentlemen, the moment we've all been waiting for. Jill has Colin cornered in his suite at the Athletic Club.
Lily: Jill does?
Chance: That should be an interesting arrest.
Ronan: Cane, you should be in on this.
Cane: No, I want to stay with Lily.
Lily: No, no. I-I will be fine. You have put so much into trying to catch Colin. You should be there when it happens.
Cane: I almost lost you tonight. I'm not leaving till I know you're okay.
Chance: We'll debrief you later then.
Cane: Good luck. Good luck.
Cane: Are you dizzy? Come here. Let's try and stand up.
Genevieve: Lily? Ethan?
Gloria: I can't believe all this.
Jack: Are you two okay?
Cane: Yeah, we're okay. We're all right. We're all right.
Genevieve: What on earth happened here?
Man: Sorry for the delay. We found someone in the building. It's--it's a woman. Looks to be burned.
Genevieve: Oh, my God. Myrna.
Ashley: I love you, Abby. I think I've proven to you that I would do anything for you. Would you please do this for me?
Abby: Thank you so much for asking me, but--
Tucker: Hey, Abby, here's the deal-- we're already married. That's not gonna change. And I can't force you to like me. But any qualms you might still have about my feelings for your mom are totally unfounded. She couldn't be with anyone who loves and cares for her more than I do, and I intend to spend the rest of my life proving that. Yeah, whether you're a part of this wedding or not, but I hope you will be, because it'll make our big day even more special.
Abby: Most of the time, you can be a total jerkwad.
Abby: I'm sorry. You can.
Abby: And then... you can be sweet, and, um...
Tucker: Almost human?
Abby: (Laughs) You're probably not the monster that I've made you out to be, okay? And frankly, I'm tired of hating you. Obviously, you're crazy about my mom. And nothing makes me happier than seeing her treated like gold, because she deserves it. I'd love to be your maid of honor.
Abby: Yes. Thank you for asking me.
Ashley: Oh, Honey.
Tucker: Wow. Aw.
Abby: (Sniffles) (Laughs)
Nick: Okay, look.
Nick: Even though we both don't have alibis, I really think we should back each other up with Ronan tonight, agreed?
Phyllis: Oh, do you? Hmm. (Sighs rhythmically) No, uh, I don't think that's a good idea now.
Nick: And why not?
Phyllis: Well, uh, for one thing, what if you're lying? I don't think it's in my best interest to support you. You understand, right?
Nick: But I'm not lying.
Phyllis: I'm not lyin', either. I'm not lying, either. I didn't kill her. Let's just worry about ourselves, okay?
Nick: (Chuckles) Uh, you know what? You're right. 'Cause I really don't want you saying a bunch of stuff that isn't true, because you'll probably just get me in more trouble.
Phyllis: Oh, yeah, uh, like--like seeing that scratch on your neck the morning after Diane died? Yeah, I don't want to-- I-I wouldn't want to mention that.
Nick: Yeah, and I don't want to mention the fact that you were basically threatening Diane the night before she was murdered, either, so...
Phyllis: (Scoffs) We'll just keep it to ourselves.
Genevieve: I sent Myrna to the market. She must have been in the kitchen putting the groceries away when the explosion happened. (Sighs) The poor woman.
Gloria: I am still in shock. That house was just inspected. What could have caused that explosion? And to think this is happening right when you're ready to sell.
Genevieve: Sell? I'm not gonna sell.
Gloria: Really? Then why did your assistant tell me to come out so we could discuss putting the estate back on the market?
Genevieve: I don't have an assistant. I don't know who you talked to, but it wasn't me. That's the first I've heard of it.
Jack: Lily. Have you already been released?
Lily: Uh, no, no. We just checked in. There's a wait at the E.R., so we came to see how your housekeeper's doing.
Genevieve: I wish I had something to report, but we haven't heard a word yet, and I'm not sure that we will, given that I'm not family.
Cane: Does Myrna have any family?
Genevieve: I'm sure she must. She's never mentioned them to me.
Jack: Lily, I understand you narrowly escaped yourself.
Lily: Yeah, um, we smelled the gas, and then Cane just grabbed me, and we ran out of there. He... pretty much saved my life.
Gloria: That was very brave.
Jack: Well, you are definitely the hero of this story.
Cane: I just did what I had to do.
Genevieve: Ethan, I'm very proud of you, Son. And, Lily, I'm so sorry this happened.
Lily: Yeah, I guess we were both victims.
Genevieve: Victims of a faulty gas line, you mean.
Cane: You haven't heard?
Genevieve: Heard what?
Cane: It wasn't a faulty gas line. Dad was trying to... kill Gloria...
Cane: And kill you.
Colin: Darling, listen to me. You--you are so wrong. I don't know what you've been listening to, but it's a mistake. Now look, let's do away with the little game before--before we say something that we're both gonna regret.
Jill: You know something interesting? I will never regret a single second with you. Really. But you are gonna pay for what you've done to me twice.
(Knock on door)
Ronan: Police! Open up!
Jill: Come in.
Ronan: (Chuckles) All right. Uh, nice handcuffs.
Jill: Well, they did the job. So now he's all yours.
Jill: (Sighs) Oh.
Chance: I know this is a shock, and I promise, I will explain everything after we've dealt with, uh, our friend here.
Jill: I'm just so glad you're safe. We were all so worried, Honey.
Chance: I've been busy.
Ronan: Okay. Okay. Yeah, come up. Well, well, well, well. I bet you never thought it'd wind up like this, did you? Being tied up to a bedpost with furry handcuffs? It's not a very menacing finish for a crime lord.
Colin: You think this is the finish?
Ronan: Oh, Buddy, I've got years and years of evidence compiled against you. I've got you linked to money laundering, drug trafficking, suspicion of murder. But you know what it was, don't you? Don't you? It was this last little endeavor of yours-- trying to take out Gloria and Genevieve. Well, that's what you gave us-- the final piece of information we needed to stop you.
Jill: Wait. "Take out"? You were trying to have them killed?
Colin: I have no idea what you're talking about. I-I never tried to kill anyone.
Chance: We have the hit man you hired in custody, and he's already talking.
Ronan: And thanks to Cane, who has been helping us out all along-- and thank you, Jill, over here, for keeping him on ice-- we're gonna put you away for a long, long time.
Victoria: My bracelet didn't just disappear into thin air, so what if Ronan has it, and that's why he wants to see me?
Victor: Sweetheart, do you know how many people frequent that park? Finding a gold chain...
Victor: Doesn't constitute you having murdered Diane Jenkins. That's absurd.
Victor: If Malloy asks you questions along those lines, you do not answer them, unless in the presence of Michael Baldwin.
Victor: I will protect you.
Victoria: Thank you, Daddy. Thank you. You know, uh, we never really did discuss what I saw happen between you and Diane that night.
Victor: As far as you're concerned, you never saw me with Diane Jenkins that night. Is that clear?
Abby: So I assume you guys are thinking before the holidays, even though a Christmas wedding can be a blast.
Ashley: We haven't really decided on a date exactly.
Tucker: Oh, it can't be soon enough for me.
(Cell phone alarm sounds)
Abby: (Sighs) Sorry. Um, I gotta shelve this for later. Ronan sent me a text. He wants to meet with me.
Tucker: You got that? Your mom and I both got the same text.
Ashley: We got the same one.
Abby: Why would he want to meet with all three of us?
Cane: The police will confirm the gas line was deliberately tampered with.
Gloria: That phony message I got luring me out to the house...
Lily: Yeah, Colin wanted you to be there when the place exploded.
Gloria: And I would have gone if I hadn't had such a God-awful day.
Jack: I'm telling you, I knew this guy was a lowlife. I had no idea. (Sighs)
Genevieve: I never, ever thought that he would put out a hit on me. I-I guess that's crazy. I just didn't think he had that one in him. Where is your father now?
Cane: He's in his suite at the G.C.A.C. being arrested as we speak.
Genevieve: I want to see him before he goes to jail, although I really hate the idea of leaving Myrna here alone.
Gloria: You know, Myrna's gonna be fine with the doctors, and I'd like to go with you, too, to give that creep a piece of my mind.
Jack: (Stammers) Ladies, I don't think this is a good idea.
Cane: It's gonna be okay. Ronan will be there.
Jack: No, I have an appointment with him very soon.
Lily: Who, Ronan?
Jack: Yeah, we're supposed to meet in a warehouse out on county highway. There's no way he could be with Colin and make this meeting.
Cane: Maybe he thinks he'll make it in time.
Genevieve: Well, then, we should go and hurry, shouldn't we?
Cane: Come on, Sweetheart. Let's get you over there.
Gloria: Let's go. Let's go.
Jack: Um, I'll meet you there.
Jack: (Sighs) Straight to voice mail. (Sighs) Should I even go?
Chance: One to transport to county lockup. Great. We'll see you shortly.
Colin: You realize that none of this is gonna stick. I have diplomatic immunity.
Chance: Had diplomatic immunity. It's past tense. It's been reversed.
Ronan: Yeah, that, uh, corrupt official that you bribed to make you a phony ambassador? Yeah, he plead guilty.
Chance: I'm afraid your Excellency is on his way to the slammer.
Ronan: See, we got you, Pal. It took us years, but we did it. We finally nailed you.
Victor: Sweetheart, I know you're nervous, okay? Let me handle Malloy. Everything will be just fine, all right?
Victoria: Okay, Dad. I will. I will. And I know you're right, but I can't shake this feeling that something really bad is about to happen.
Victor: I don't want you to think that. Let's go. Come on.
Victoria: (Sighs) Okay.
Nick: All right, so you want to ride out there together?
Phyllis: Oh, no, it's okay. I'll take my own car.
Nick: Good, 'cause I wanted to ride alone, so...
Phyllis: Yeah, me, too. So it's all good. Listen, you know what-- you know what creeps me out? Why does he want us to go all the way out there?
Nick: Short on gas money?
Phyllis: No. Something is off.
Nick: I can call Ronan, see if I can get some more information for you.
Phyllis: Thank you.
Nick: Sure. Must be screening his calls.
Phyllis: Of course he is.
Nick: All right, I'm gonna head out there.
Phyllis: I'm gonna go, too.
Nick: I will see you then.
Phyllis: Yeah, in our separate cars.
Cane: So I, um, spoke to the nanny, and she's gonna stay and look after the kids overnight, and she will be there as long as you need her to.
Lily: Thank you. Now I don't have to worry.
Cane: Would you like me to go home and check on them? Would that put your mind at ease?
Lily: No. I don't want you just checking on them. (Sighs) Cane, I want you to be in their lives for good. I want you in... all of our lives.
Cane: You don't know how much that means to me.
Lily: Listen, I'm really sorry that I didn't trust you. I mean, I should have known that you would never hurt us. And you risked so much just to keep Colin off of the streets.
Cane: Do you know how much I hated the things I had to do to you?
Lily: I know.
Cane: I'm sorry.
Lily: But you were in a bad position. I-I understand that now. I do. And I have never, ever been prouder of you than at this moment. You are my hero, and now that Colin is out of the picture, nothing will ever keep us apart.
Ronan: You have the right to have an attorney present before you answer any questions. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?
Jill: I never want to lay eyes on you again.
Colin: You know, you talk pretty tough, but I know you're still in love with me. And for what it's worth, I never lied about loving you.
Genevieve: We made it.
Gloria: You messed with the wrong woman when you came after me. You know that? Because I am a survivor, and I will always, always end up on top. You think about that in prison, Loser.
Colin: Can you get me out of here, please?
Genevieve: Wait a minute. You're not even going to say good-bye to me? I find it so hard to believe after everything we've been through together that you would order your minions to do me in, but I do have a ruined house full of smoke to prove it.
Colin: Genevieve, I would never do that.
Genevieve: Oh, Colin, you never could lie to me, could you? So this is how it ends. You go off to prison, and that's where you grow old.
Gloria: I can't believe I found that guy charming.
Jill: How could I have believed him?
Gloria: What's with you and criminals, Jill? They're like catnip to you.
Jill: Shut up, Gloria.
Genevieve: We were both burned by Colin, and we lived to tell about it. We're lucky.
Jill: (Scoffs) Yeah, we're lucky. How are we lucky?
Genevieve: We survived.
Jack: Detective Malloy?
Jack: You here?
Tucker: Wait. Hang on. Hang back. Jack? What's up?
Ashley: What are you doing here?
Jack: I got a text from Ronan to meet him here.
Abby: Yeah, we did, too.
Jack: Oh, my...
Ashley: What are you doing here?
Phyllis: What are we doing here?
Nick: So you got the same message we did?
Tucker: Remind you of anything?
Phyllis: Yeah, the time that Diane sent us all the same text on meeting her in the park. This place creeps me out.
Tucker: Now what?
Ashley: Oh, my God.
Jack: Oh, look at this.
Victoria: Uh, did you all...
Tucker: Yeah, we did.
Victor: What's going on here?
Tucker: I think we'll have to ask Malloy.
Jack: I'm beginning to doubt that this is his doing.
Victor: Then whose doing do you think it is?
(Film projector starts)
Phyllis: Oh, my God.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Abby: Whoa, this is creepy.
Tucker: What the hell is this?
Adam: Hello? I'm here. I got your text.
Victor: What trouble have you gotten yourself into now?
