Episode # 9664 ~ The Newmans Offer Support to Victoria

Proofread By Emma

Ashley: I thought the next time I was here, we'd be married. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. (Sniffles) I just didn't know that Abby was so far out of control. (Sighs) I didn't know. And I can't let anyone know now, either. God, Tucker, even though your mother and my family and the rest of the world's gonna think that I ran you over...if you had a child, you'd understand.

(Ventilator hisses)

Paul: Hi.

Kay: Hi, Paul.

Paul: Any change?

Kay: Uh, he's holding his own.

Paul: (Sighs)

Kay: What have you learned about his son?

Paul: Well, uh, Nelson McGinnis put me in touch with Tucker's solicitors in London.

Kay: The ones who prepared the living will?

Paul: Apparently, they have been handling his personal legal affairs for years. So they're going to go through his entire file and pull any reference made to his son.

Kay: Good.

Paul: Listen, Nelson also tells me that you have a key to Tucker's apartment.

Kay: Uh, I do. I mean, are you gonna be looking for clues there?

Paul: If you have no objection.

Kay: Uh, no. I'll go with you because I, uh, I feel so helpless here. I, uh, need something to be proactive.

Paul: All right, let's go.

Kay: (Sighs)

Billy: Hello, Baby. Mission accomplished.

Victoria: Good. Did they spell Mom's name right on the cake, I hope?

Billy: I triple-checked it.

Victoria: All right. Great, great, great. Great.

Billy (Groans) You okay?

Victoria: Yeah. I'm great.

Billy: You're not okay. (Sighs)

Victoria: I just am having a serious case of the "What ifs?” What if Daniel changes his mind? Or what if the judge decides that we're not good enough for Lucy?

Billy: Baby, don't do that to yourself right now.

Victoria: I'm sorry, you know? But...

Billy: (Sighs) As hard as it was sending her away again, it's important.

Victoria: You can't promise me that.

(Knock on door)

Billy: Maybe that's your mom.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Billy: Hey.

Nick: Hey. (Sighs) You guys in the middle of something?

Victoria: No, I-I'm just-- you know, I'm-- I'm just missing Lucy a little bit.

Nick: She's not here? I thought she and Daniel were moving into the apartment over the garage.

Victoria: They were going to until "Restless Style" violated the gag order and-- and it--it ticked off the judge.

Nick: Why would you do that?

Victoria: It wasn't Billy, actually. It was Phyllis.

Nick: (Sighs)

Nikki: Victor, please go.

Victor: I want to help you.

Nikki: (Scoffs) It doesn't help me you seeing me this way.

Victor: Sweetheart, I don't care what you say. It's not gonna happen. I'm not gonna go away, all right?

Nikki: I'm so sorry. I tried to stop. I really did.

Victor: My sweetheart, you can't stop on your own. This is a disease. You can't stop this on your own. I'm sorry that you're on your own now.

Nikki: (Sobs quietly)

Victor: You've reached out to me, and I've... (Sighs) I pushed you away. I shouldn't have done that.

Nikki: You really mean that?

Victor: I do. I do. I'll get all the professional help you need all right? And I'll be there with you every step of the way. I promise you. Come here.

Nikki: Really? (Sobs quietly) I'm so sorry.

Devon: You know the last I heard, you were just dodging appointments with your shrink. To go from that to checking yourself into an institution is pretty drastic.

Lily: I haven't been completely honest with you about how screwed up I am.

Cane: I should have told Lily the truth from the beginning.

Genevieve: And what would have happened? Your father would have learned that you'd en conning him all along.

Cane: She's my wife, and I trust her, and she trusts me.

Genevieve: Oh, please. The girl is incapable of keeping a secret. What happened when you begged her not to tell anyone that she'd seen you? She opened her mouth.

Cane: Because she's terrified. I've convinced the girl she's a threat to her own children.

Genevieve: Right now, Lily only thinks she's losing her mind. Now imagine if you had to go to her and tell her that Colin kidnapped the twins and she would never see them again. Imagine that. Right? For Lily's sake, stick to the plan. Protect yourself and your children, because we can't let your father get his hands on them.

Colin: Ooh, do I have such plans for you. Ahh, for the soul. Thank you, my dear.

Jill: No, thank you for coming to the zoo with us. Hi, Darlin'. I really needed this, after sending Chance back into that war zone.

Colin: Well, you know, it's just what we needed. (Sighs) Our--our children and our grandchildren-- they're our immortality.

Jill: (Sighs)

Nick: Sorry... I didn't mean to jump to conclusions

Billy: No, that's okay. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that I knew what was being printed on my own web site.

Nick: You can't make assumptions about Phyllis, not when she's on a tear like this. You've got to be prepared for anything.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Billy: Yes, well, we are learning that lesson. I did fire her, so there's that.

Victoria: Once we're raising her granddaughter, we're gonna be tied to Phyllis forever, just like you are, because of Summer.

Billy: Let's talk birthdays.

Victoria: Yeah, that's a great idea.

Billy: You know, I-I think it's great that we're able to show your mom some much-needed appreciation. She's been very solid through this entire mess.

Victoria: She has. She has, indeed. It makes it easier on her, you know, to not focus on her own problems and to take care of us. But I think that it's been a little one-sided, and that's not really fair, so I would like to make today all about Mom, okay?

Nick: Sounds good.

Victoria: Yeah. And I mean it-- no getting sidetracked, no talking about our kids or our jobs or any of that. I just want to talk about Mom and focus on her and ask her what her plans are now that she's gotten her life back on track.

Nikki: (Sighs) (Sniffles)

Victor: I don't want you to worry anymore, okay?

Nikki: (Sighs)

Victor: I'll make some calls, and I'll find the best treatment center there is. And then you'll pack your things, and we'll just go there.

Nikki: Oh, my God, I-- I'm supposed to be at Victoria's for lunch for my damn birthday. I forgot all about it.

Victor: Well, Sweetheart, then why don't we go there together? It's a chance for you to explain the whole situation.

Nikki: (Sighs) They're gonna be so disappointed in me.

Victor: Don't worry about that, okay?

Nikki: (Sighs) I can't imagine what I must look like right now. (Inhales shakily)

Victor: Look at me. You are beautiful.

Kay: All right, now, um, what sort of thing should I be looking for?

Paul: Well, I'm going off the assumption that, um, Tucker went to a lot of time and effort to conduct this search. So we're looking for something to indicate who might have done the work for him, and where they might have looked. That could save us a lot of time.

Kay: What?

Paul: If we're lucky, we could get a name of the boy or at the very least, the name of the boy's mother.

Kay: Well, uh, you're aware of Tucker's reputation? I'm sure--I mean, he never lacked for female relationships. That helps us, doesn't it? His romantic life was always made so public, so actually, we could research the women whose names were linked to him.

Paul: Well, there's been a lot of press coverage since he's become rich and famous, but before then, he was, uh, just starting out, and what? You told me he was promoting rock bands and--and traveling the world with them.

Kay: Oh, my God, in that case we--we'll be searching forever, Paul.

Paul: Well, he's given us a clue here. So what we're looking for are old planners, correspondence, you know, personal effects that might indicate or give us a clue as to the identity of Tucker's son or the son's mother.

Ashley: Tucker has a son? Did you just find this out? Tucker has a son?

Kay: Tell me, what are you doing here?

Ashley: I'm just picking up some of my things, Katherine.

Kay: Do the police know that?

Ashley: No. Why should they?

Kay: Ashley, there's an order of protection barring you from coming anywhere near Tucker.

Ashley: Not from the home he and I were going to share.

Kay: Do you think that is appropriate, considering that you were charged with his attempted murder?

Ashley: I would never hurt him, not intentionally. And I promise you, I'm not here for any nefarious purposes, Katherine. Honestly. And maybe I can help you find what you're looking for.

Paul: You know, it is possible. Tucker might have told her something.

Kay: Eh, obviously, she's as much in the dark as we were.

Ashley: Okay, so I heard you right. You're trying to track down Tucker's son?

Kay: Yes. He left a significant bequest in his will, if the boy is located.

Ashley: I just can't believe he would never tell me that.

Paul: Well, he must have discussed prior relationships with you.

Ashley: Well, sure, of course. I mean, generally, we did. Uh, he spoke of how they weren't anything compared with what he and I shared.

Paul: Right, but he didn't mention any names or--or stories or any person he was particularly fond of? Or...

Ashley: No.

Paul: Someone he was bitter about?

Ashley: No, I'm sorry, no.

Kay: That's interesting, isn't? No, as close as the two of you seemed to be, he kept you not knowing anything about this? Now what do you think that says? Perhaps that he didn't entirely trust you?

Victoria: Hors d'oeuvres, all right.

(Doorbell rings)

Victoria: Oh, okay. Aah! Okay, okay, okay. (Laughs) Hi!

Nikki: Hi, Honey.

Victoria: Oh, I'm so-- mwah! Mm.

Victor: Hope you don't mind.

Victoria: I'm-- I'm really glad that you could make it, Dad. That's great. Happy birthday.

Victor: Yep.

Nikki: Thank you.

Victoria: Uh, can I get anyone some lemonade from the kitchen?

Nikki: No, no, no. I'm fine, thanks.

Victoria: Are you sure? Okay.

Nick: Something's wrong. What's up?

Victor: Uh, your mother wants to tell you all something.

Nikki: Actually, um, I’m sure it's no surprise. I've been drinking again, and after lunch, I'm going back to rehab.

Lily: I was just afraid that if I told anyone, you know that I was seeing Cane and that I was talking to him, that it would stop, and there was even one time that I brought the twins to the cemetery to see him, and he never showed up. And I was crushed, you know? But at the same time I was relieved, because you knew it was wrong to get them involved. When he started actually showing up at the house when the twins were there, and when that happened, I just--I-I knew it had to stop, you know? So I came here.

Devon: Have you had any of your visions since?

Lily: No.

Devon: Then maybe you're back in control, you know? I mean, think about it. If you really were crazy, you wouldn't even realize that anything was wrong. Right? Look, I promise you, things are gonna get better now.

Genevieve: Lily will recover, and she'll forgive you once she realizes that you didn't have any other choice. After all, who knows better than she does how much danger you were in as Cane Ashby? She thinks you died in her arms.

Cane: Well, she needs to know it was Caleb.

Genevieve: In time... everything in good time. You know, if I had arrived in Genoa City earlier than I did, I might be having this conversation with your headstone. Fortunately for you, Caleb got to you before I did.

[Cane remembering]

(Footsteps approach)

Cane: What the hell are you doin' here?

Caleb: Well, if that was the reaction I'm gonna get after all these years, I would have stayed in Oz.

Cane: So why are you here? Where's Dad?

Caleb: So much for that psychic connection twins are supposed to have, eh? That was me who sent you that text; it wasn't Father.

Cane: Does he know you're here in Genoa City?

Caleb: No, not yet. But it's his idea that I come here. Just thought I'd come a little early, you know? I didn't want to miss his wedding. I'm gonna be you, though, you know, cause Father thinks that if he can't tell the difference between us, then, you know, no one can... not even your wife.

Cane: You're not gonna go anywhere near Lily.

Caleb: Well, you had your chance to cooperate. Your father begged you. My father shouldn't have to beg someone like you, Cane you don't deserve to be an Atkinson. But your children-- Father thinks they have potential, but he wants me to raise them.

Cane: I'm gonna kill you.

Caleb: I'd like you to try.

Cane: (Grunts)

Cane: (Groaning)

Caleb: Night-night! Night-night! Bye-bye!

Genevieve: Showing up at that wedding, so pleased with himself. He has accomplished his father's task ahead of schedule. (Scoffs) And never realizing that he was walking directly into a bullet. (Chuckles) It's almost comical. I have no delusions about Caleb. When I was young and he was a little boy, I used to tell myself that he was acting out to impress his father, because he was rebelling against being compared with you. But I was wrong. There was no good in him... None at all.

Victoria: I am so proud of you.

Nikki: Your father told me you would feel that way.

Victoria: I think you're setting us a great example-- I mean, not giving up, not letting embarrassment or pride keep you from getting the treatment that you need.

Nick: We're obviously gonna miss you, Mother, but you're doing the right thing.

Billy: You know, in A.A. when they say, uh, "The day you got sober is your birthday," it's kind of ironic it is your birthday.

Nikki: Yeah.

Victor: This is another reason to celebrate.

Nikki: I'll tell you why I am celebrating. This family-- that we are still a family, and we're not shattered. I thought perhaps we...

Victor: (Sighs)

Nikki: But we still all come together, not just now, but... when we lost Lucy, when Sharon died, and we will always be there for each other, and I'm very grateful to that. That's what I'm celebrating.

Ashley: I'm sure that Tucker had good reason to wan to keep this child a secret. And if he did have insecurities about whether or not he could trust the women in his life to stand by his side, it might have a little something to do with you as his mother abandoning him.

Paul: Okay, please. Let's not let this get out of hand.

Ashley: And how much more could it get out of hand, Paul? She thinks I ran over her son with my car.

Kay: Because you haven't been able to explain anything.

Ashley: (Sighs)

Kay: No. If Diane is lying, then why does the physical evidence--

Ashley: Look, I don't know what to tell you except it was an accident. Can I prove it? No, I can't. Look, but you have known me my entire life. I would like to think you had a little faith in me, Kay.

Kay: My son's life is on the line. Now. (Stammers) I would love to take your word for what went on up there, but I need more than your word. I mean, come on, considering your history, my dear... (Sighs)

Ashley: Go ahead. Go ahead, just say it.

Kay: Losing control in very tense situations.

Ashley: Right, so you think that I went nuts the night before my wedding, and I took my car, and I just wanted to run Tucker over with it, right?

Kay: I don't want to believe that!

Ashley: And now I'm lying about it?

Kay: As I said before. If there is any indication that my son's life is in danger, I must protect that. I'm sure you would do the exact same thing if-- Abby were in the same situation. (Sighs) As difficult as it must be for you, Ashley, and I'm--I'm-- I'm sure that... but I insist that you keep your distance from Tucker and his affairs.

Colin: Uh, you'll be okay if I leave you here with them?

Jill: Oh, of course, I will. I'll just finish up my e-mails, and then when they wake up, we'll head back to the house.

Colin: I'll see you there. There's just a few business things I gotta take care of, hmm?

Jill: Okay.

Both: Mm!

Colin: Huh?

Jill: I really love seeing you as a doting grandfather. I never would have expected this of you.

Colin: I'm not like this with all kids, believe me. But there's just something about these two. I can't get enough of them.

Genevieve: We were fortunate enough that things went our way with Caleb. It won't be as easy with your father.

Cane: Which is why we need to rethink our plan. You want him arrested for kidnapping? Well, he's not gonna leave the country illegally with the kids and risk that.

Genevieve: You're wrong.

Cane: I hope I'm wrong. 'Cause he thinks now he has permission that Lily's been hospitalized.

Genevieve: Well, he's being overly optimistic, as always. You know, when he sees that it's not going to be as easy as he thought, he will become impatient, and then, oh, trust me. I know how his mind works.

Cane: Well, if you're right, then he can take the kids without warning. We won't have a chance to stop him.

Genevieve: No, Honey, he's gonna need your help, Caleb's help.

Cane: You really think you can anticipate his very move, don't you?

Genevieve: Anticipate and counter. This is my game we're playing, and not his.

Cane: Mm, well, I think there are some things you can't control, Mom, 'cause there's always gonna be wild cards out there like Caleb.

Genevieve: But I found him, didn't I. I found...him.

Cane: (Sighs) (Sighs)

[Cane remembering]

Genevieve: Relax, Ethan. Relax. Everything's gonna be all right.

Cane: Mom?

Genevieve: Not the union you pictured?

Cane: I don't understand. Are you here with Caleb?

Genevieve: Caleb is gone. He's dead.

Cane: What do you mean, Caleb-- what do you mean, Caleb's dead?

Genevieve: Blake shot him thinking that he was you. They all think that he was you, and we've gotta keep it that way.

Cane: (Sighs)

Genevieve: Do you remember now why you need to help me? Why you still need to help me?

Cane: Because I'm still not free.

Genevieve: And the way to save yourself--

Cane: No, I'm not doing it. I will not use my kids.

Nikki: (Blows on candles)

All: (Cheering)

Victoria: That's great. Oh, okay. So I'll just, uh, slice this up in the dining room.

Billy: Oh, oh, I got it. I got it. You want a little piece first? Here. (Laughs)

Victoria: You do?

Nikki: I got a little one.

Nick: You need help with that? I know you only got one hand.

Victoria: We've got it. We've got it.

Billy: Yeah, yeah, yeah, ha ha. (Laughs) All right.

Victoria: You are being so good. Thank you.

Billy: Yeah, well, your dad's been on his best behavior with me for almost an hour now. I don't think I should push it.

Victoria: You're a smart boy.

(Cell phone rings)

Victor: This is the director of the treatment center. Excuse me, my sweetheart.

Nikki: Oh.

Victor: I'll be right back.

Nikki: (Sighs)

Nick: So you went to Dad for help?

Nikki: No, no. He volunteered. No, that's wrong, too. He insisted.

Nick: Yeah, he came and took charge as usual. Well, this time, I'm grateful.

Nikki: Yeah, me, too. Me, too.

Cane: You know, Matty and Charlie are your family, too, Samantha's family. So why would you put them at risk unless you just don't care about them?

Genevieve: Your children aren't at risk. Your father considers them his legacy, and you know how all-important that is to him.

Cane: No. No, there's gotta be another way. No.

Genevieve: Well, let's see. You tried once before to get your father convicted of the crimes he committed in Australia, and where did that get you? Living life on the run, hiding from his associates. The bullets that killed your brother were meant for you. Taking on the entire organization would be stupid. But if your father's convicted of a crime that he committed that they had nothing to do with here in the States where they have no influence, you will be free.

Cane: And what about Lily?

Genevieve: For God sakes, Lily is going to be fine. It's just a few more days. And, uh, in fact is that she's actually safer where she is in that hospital room than she would be in your own home.

Colin: Well, I-I've got something for you here. I thought she'd like to see what Charlie and Matty have been up to.

Lily: (Laughs) Oh, my gosh. You took them to the zoo?

Colin: Mm. They seem to like koalas and kangaroos. It's gotta be genetic.

Lily: (Laughs) Right. You know, I still want to take them to Australia someday. I want them to see where their daddy came from.

Colin: Love that idea. In fact, I'm gonna do whatever I can to make it happen.

Billy: Okay, we have cake. Here. Here you go, Sir.

Nick: All right. Thank you.

Victoria: Cake?

Billy: Oh, you know what, Guys? I forgot ice cream. Anybody want ice cream?

Victoria: Oh, I'll have some.

Nick: I'll have some ice cream.

Billy: It's unanimous. I'll go get the ice cream.

Victoria: I love ice cream.

Nick: Mm, I'm gonna check in with the nanny.

Victoria: Go ahead. Dig in. You're the birthday girl. You don't have to wait for anybody.

Nikki: Look at this huge piece.

Victoria: I'm sorry. Mmm.

Nikki: It's so nice to see you and Billy in-- in such a good place. To know you'll be fine while I'm gone. He loves you very much.

Victoria: He really does.

Victor: Are we all set?

Victoria: Oh. (Sighs) So you found a treatment center?

Victor: Yes, a facility with a wonderful reputation, okay? So any time you're ready, we can go. The jet is waiting for us.

Nikki: Us?

Victor: I'm gonna make sure that you get settled, okay?

(Ventilator hisses)

Ashley: (Quietly) Hi, Baby. It's me. I'm sorry I haven't been in to see you lately. I found out you have a son. I guess you've been separated from him for a really, really long time. They wouldn't give me any details, and maybe they don't even have any, but... if I had to guess, I bet he's really handsome. I bet he's smart. I bet he's tenacious. And I really want to meet him. I guess it's just one more reason why you have to wake up, so you can come back to us. (Sighs) Part of me is hoping that you can't hear anything I say, Tucker, 'cause lots of people are saying lots of things, and if you heard them, they would only upset you. And I just want you to know that it’s not true. It's not true. You kept your son a secret from me. But you know what? That's okay. I have my secrets, too, Sweetie.

Paul: Well, no, at least that tells us where not to look, so that's helpful. Yeah. All right, I will. Thanks. Okay.

Kay: What? London lawyers giving you a hard time?

Paul: Yeah, they say the first time that Tucker's son was ever mentioned in the paperwork they have was 20 years ago.

Kay: Well, did they say how old the boy was?

Paul: Well, they didn't specify.

Kay: (Sighs) Well, he has to be 20, we know that much.

Paul: Yeah, so, uh, is there anything interesting in that safe? Did you find anything?

Kay: No, not much. Just, um, a bunch of, uh, papers like, uh, insurance policies, stock certificates, uh...

Paul: (Mutters)

Kay: And, uh, oh. It's a letter.

Paul: A letter?

Kay: Uh, part-- part of a letter.

Paul: Well, really.

Kay: "You didn't keep your promises, but I will keep mine. You will never see your son."

Paul: Wow." Uh, be careful with that, will you? Can you just slip it back in this envelope? Try not to touch it. Just slip it right back in there.

Kay: "Never see your son... okay.

Paul: And I'll get it to a forensic lab and see if they can get any information off of this.

Kay: Mm. Uh, while you're doing that, um, I'll go back to the hospital, tell Tucker that, uh, the search is under way.

Genevieve: You do have another option if you don't want to help me. You could join your father's organization.

Cane: (Sighs)

Genevieve: You could introduce Lily to that life and give your babies the same kind of childhood that you had with Caleb and Samantha. But you won't do that, will you? You love them too much. So you're gonna take this gift that your brother gave you, his identity, and you're gonna use it to protect yourself and your children.

Cane: All right. All right, I'll give you what you want. If I see Lily and the babies are in danger at any moment, all bets are off, okay?

Genevieve: Yes.

Cane: Okay.

Genevieve: It's not just Lily and the kids that you want to protect, is it? It's Jill.

Cane: (Sighs)

Genevieve: Hmm. I know that you had to move away and start your life over... (Chuckles) Get a family, but I won't tell you that it doesn't hurt me that you replaced me.

Jill: Aw, you're lookin' for Grandpa Colin, aren't you? Well, we're gonna see him very soon... (Singsong voice) And I'll bet he'll have a surprise for us.

Lily: Mommy is gonna get better soon. Okay? And I'm gonna come home to you.

Colin: These work?

Man: Sure. So two passports?

Colin: Australian passports.

Man: That's extra.

Colin: Fine. I just need 'em A.S.A.P. They've gotta be indistinguishable from the real ting, 'cause I don't want any trouble getting those two out of the country.

Kay: Um, can you give me, uh, the notes that Dr. Ford left for me?

Ashley: We didn't quite make it to the altar, did we? But I'm with you, for better or worse. I want you to know that. No matter what you need, I'm here for you.

(Alarms sounding)

Ashley: Tucker? Tucker? Oh, my God. Somebody help me. There's something wrong here. Please hurry!

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Victor: You're gonna get through this, okay?

Billy: Are we really at that point where we have to wonder if we're gonna make it or not?

Michael: I assume that my client is free to go.

Spencer: You assume wrong. We're here to arrest her.
