Jana: You do this kind of thing, you do this kind of thing, don't you? Adoptions.
Prim: What's your name?
Prim: You say you got my name from a couple I helped.
Prim: When's your baby--
Jana: Don't touch me!
Prim: Oh! (Laughs nervously) Uh...
Michael: Daniel's with Daisy now. No, Lauren, I'm sure it's Daisy. I saw her. I talked to her. No, I'm at the police station. We're getting ready to head over to the motel where she's staying. No, look, by tonight, Daisy will be back in the custody of the Genoa City police. No, no, we didn't find the kid. Yeah, I know, I know. Let's just focus on the fact that we have Daisy.
Daisy: You're gonna let me escape?
Daniel: (Sighs) A lot of people would be better off if you just disappeared.
Daisy: Including you?
Daniel: Top of the list.
Daisy: Okay, don't worry. You never have to see me again. Then you can just get naked with your rich, spoiled heiress.
Daniel: That's cute, yeah. If I were you, I would stay away from Genoa City. If you show up there again, then I'm not gonna be able to help you, okay?
Daisy: Do I have to hit you over the head again so you can cover your tracks?
Daniel: Yeah, I was thinking something maybe a little less life-threatening, maybe a little smarter. This is what we're gonna do.
Victor: There has been a lot of speculation in the business community about where I am going to take this company now. Over the years, I have devoted a lot of time and energy to the various divisions of Newman Enterprises. I have come to the conclusion that it's time for me to turn my attention in a different direction. Very soon, Newman Enterprises will cease to exist as a privately owned business. I'm taking the company public.
(Camera shutters click)
Kyle: Hey, Mom, Victor's on TV.
Diane: Why, yes, he is.
Kyle: Yeah, something about his company.
Victor: The money generated by this public offering will increase the capitalization of Newman Enterprises exponentially...
Kyle: A lot of big words.
Victor: Hence giving the company a chance to expand both laterally...
Kyle: What's it all mean?
Victor: And vertically.
Diane: Well, it means that Victor built his company. He owned it. He ran it. He made all the decisions.
Kyle: And he's not gonna be doing that anymore?
Diane: Mm, Victor will always be in charge, but he is gonna let some other people own just a little bit of the company and those people, called investors, will have a-a say in what happens at Newman Enterprises. The company will be even bigger and better than before.
Kyle: And Mr. Newman will be even richer.
Diane: Yes. Yes, he will.
Victor: Taking Newman Enterprises public is something I've been considering for quite some time. After thoroughly researching the prospect, I've concluded that it is in the best interest of the company to move forward in that direction.
Jack: I never thought I would live to see this day--
Victor: Proceeds from this transaction...
Jack: "The black knight" always swore no one but a Newman would ever own a piece of that company.
Billy: The bastard won't admit he's only doing this because he lost the arbitration.
Victoria: Well, look at all of that press.
Victor: The board of directors and I will meet over the next few days...
Victoria: I mean, surely one of them is going to ask the great Victor Newman if losing the lawsuit forced him into this.
Jack: Every reporter in that room is handpicked. No one is gonna make any waves.
Victor: We're also working on calculating the price range of the offering.
Victor: An official announcement regarding both of these issues will be made by my P.R. department...
Victoria: Nail his ass.
Victor: As soon as we have finalized this proceeding.
Victoria: I thought that when you said Dad was gonna settle, that meant that he was gonna give us Beauty of Nature.
Nick: That's the impression I got.
Victor: I'll be meeting with several corporate banks...
Victoria: But I cannot believe he did this just to spite us.
Victor: To decide which of these institutions should issue the I.P.O.S.
Ashley: Looks like you're not gonna get Beauty of Nature from Victoria.
Tucker: Oh, I can live with that, Darlin'...
Victor: We're in the process of filing all necessary paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission as we speak.
Tucker: When gettin' Newman stock is the consolation prize.
Abby: I just want this to be over.
Victor: And I expect this to be completed by the end of the week. With the capital raised by this I.P.O...
Nikki: Who would have known Victor would make an announcement like this?
Victor: I anticipate that Newman Enterprises will be...
Nikki: I never, never thought I would see this day.
Victor: One of the largest international corporations. I know this comes as a shock to some of you, but this is the beginning of a new era for Newman Enterprises.
Heather: Mr. Newman will answer your questions now.
Victor: Yes, Tom?
Tom: Newman's been a fiercely private company. Why go public now?
Victor: Why not now? As I've said, this is a tremendous opportunity to...
Victoria: I cannot believe that Dad would go this far to keep Beauty of Nature away from us.
Victor: To expand the horizons of Newman Enterprises.
Nick: If we can get in on this I.P.O., we can still take control.
Victoria: He is gonna do everything that he can to keep us out of that stock offering.
Victor: I think the results of this action will be most beneficial to our company.
Abby: I know this is really sad for Dad, but at least it's over.
Victoria: No, it's not over. He made his move, and now we're gonna counter.
Nick: Damn straight. With the stock we already have and our potential to get a lot more, we're gonna be major players at Newman.
Abby: What? No way. I am done. No more lawsuits, arbitrations, I.P.O.S. I-I'm gonna take my half a billion, and I'm gonna go home.
Victoria: Abby, you can't do that.
Abby: I don't want to be a major player, okay?
Abby: I don't want Beauty of Nature. I just want to be Abby Newman, the naked heiress, your sister, Lucy's godmother. Our father just put an end to his life's dream. We're all rich. For me, it's time to stop.
Jack: If we can get our hands on enough shares of Newman, we can buy Beauty of Nature outright.
Tucker: You're right, Jack. I can. But first things first-- our agreement was predicated on your delivering Beauty of Nature. You didn't. You're fired.
Tom: To set the stock price, Newman must reveal the inner financial workings and issue public earnings reports. Can you give us the insight into what those figures might be?
Victor: I don't know the exact numbers right now, but I assure you, you'll be very impressed.
Nikki: All right, you know, I-I-I-I can't watch any more of this. Victor puts on a good show for the public, but this has to be killing him.
Kay: Yes, you can see it in his eyes.
Nikki: You know, I hate what this has done to our family.
Nick: You blame us?
Nikki: It's just... I hate to see our family broken like this.
Victoria: Well, we don't want that, either.
Kay: You caused this.
Kay: No, Nikki, no. I'm gonna say my piece. This is what they have done to him-- brought him to the most devastating, ugly point in his life. Now instead of having one iota of remorse, they are circling around like a bunch of sharks... (Stammers) Around a-a wounded animal. That man is your father! Your father! Now you claim that he did not have your best interests at heart, and he hurt you. Well, you just take a damn good look at what you have done to him. Shame on you, all of you.
Nikki: Katherine, wait! Wait!
Victoria: Mom. Do you think she's right?
Nikki: All I know is what I see, and I want it to stop!
Victoria: Well, so do I.
Nikki: Your father came to the christening. It's your move. Katherine!
Nick: Look, its Billy.
Billy: Hi, Heather. Actually, I have, um, one question for Victor Newman. Excuse me. Um, I'm actually surprised none of you guys asked this question, but... okay, I'll just shoot. Um... you taking your company public at this time while being tied to owing your kids $1.5 billion because of a lawsuit they brought against you-- and--and maybe none of you guys asked this because it's so obvious, or maybe you're just no good at your job. I don't know. But this is what I don't understand. Why would you turn down an offer to keep your company out of the hands of strangers? Is it because you would rather do something you've resisted since you've started this company rather than give your kids what they want? Is that it?
Nikki: You stood up for Victor. Not many people would do that.
Kay: He's my friend.
Tucker: Katherine, can I talk to you for a minute?
Nikki: Oh, excuse me. I've gotta go.
Tucker: Listen, there's a way that you and I can help Victor and ourselves.
Kay: Oh? What kind of scheme are you concocting now?
Tucker: No, listen, if we pool our resources, we can buy up a good chunk of Newman's stock. Victor'll have the money he needs to pay out his settlements, and we'll own a piece of the competition.
Kay: I see. I won't... (Chuckles) I won't let you have your wedding at my house, and yet you want me to join forces in some kind of scheme to destroy a lifelong friend.
Tucker: I'm not trying to destroy--
Kay: Go to hell, Tucker! Just go to hell! And take your plan to fool an old fool with you.
Victor: It is true, Mr. Abbott, that my children did present me with a settlement offer, but upon intense review, I found that offer sorely lacking-- in fact, ridiculous. My children were advised by some people-- misguided by some people with very questionable characters. That is unfortunately why my heirs embarked upon this rather disastrous road. I love my kids, always have, always will, and I'm very sad that they are not here to embark upon this very exciting journey, this new phase in the history of Newman Enterprises.
Billy: Well, then I have another question.
Victor: Thank you, Mr. Abbott.
Billy: Really? Oh, well, all right, bye.
(Camera shutters click)
Jack: And no one lived happily ever after. The end.
Abby: Speak for yourself.
Jack: Believe me, I am. I'm worried about you, Kid.
Abby: Oh, now you're worried about me. Hmm.
Jack: I will admit I had my own agenda when I encouraged you to sue your dad for your trust. But I crossed a line, and when you told me the other day that you hated me... Abby, nothing is right with the world if I've alienated my family. I am sorry if I hurt you. I really am. I never meant to.
Abby: I know. Your advice wasn't all bad. It got me half a billion dollars.
Jack: I'm glad it all worked out... for you, anyway.
Abby: Oh, don't worry. I'm sure once Tucker gets his hands on Beauty of Nature, he'll lift your suspension.
Jack: He already has.
Jack: He fired me.
Abby: What a jerk. God, he's all, "Poor me. My mommy gave me away." And then he lands in the greatest family ever, and this is the way he acts. I honestly want to smack those stupid retro glasses right off his face.
Jack: Let me handle Tucker, okay?
Victoria: (Sighs) You led me to believe...
Victoria: Dad was gonna offer us Beauty of Nature.
Nick: That's what Diane told me. I really thought this whole thing was gonna be over with.
Victoria: (Sighs) Well, maybe you misunderstood her, or you only heard a part of her conversation.
Nick: Well, maybe she lied to me.
Victoria: Hold on a second. Where are you going?
Nick: I'm gonna go find out.
Diane: So what are you and Hayden doing tonight?
Kyle: 60-inch flat screen. Uh, Red Wings and Blackhawks. Duh.
Diane: Mm-hmm. I pay good money for a private education, and what do I get? "Duh."
Kyle: (Laughs) You know, hey, Mom, if Mr. Newman gets richer, does that mean you get richer, too?
Diane: I-is that important to you?
Kyle: Well, I-I just remember when you used to stay up all night and get stressed out over the bills.
Diane: Oh, Sweetie. No more stress for me or for you.
Prim: I'll get back to you-- soon. I-I gotta go. (Sighs)
Jana: (Sighs) (American accent) Sorry about that before.
Jana: Everybody's just always trying to touch me, just like I'm some exhibit in a museum. (Chuckles) It really freaks me out.
Prim: Makes a person wonder how you got pregnant.
Jana: So how does this work exactly?
Prim: Simple-- you give me your baby. I give you 5 grand.
Jana: But, you see, I need to know where my baby's going.
Prim: To a good home.
Jana: You know, I'd love to take your word on that. But that's funny coming from a person who's conducting business in a golf shed.
Prim: You called for this meeting.
Jana: Maybe if I could just meet the parents, you know? The ones who've adopted before? Maybe just talk to them.
Prim: I do private adoptions. Nobody talks to nobody.
Jana: How about a picture? I mean, you can't just expect me to hand over my baby to-- to someone without knowing something a-about that person.
Prim: Get out.
Prim: I said get out. Don't come back.
Michael: Here. It's right here. Daniel. Daniel, its Michael. I've brought the police. Come on. Open up.
Michael: So where's Daisy?
Daniel: Bathroom. She, uh... (Sighs) She was in the bathroom.
Daniel: Daisy escaped.
Michael: What, did she hit you over the head again? Drug you? What?
Man: The bathroom window's wide-open.
Man: Miss Carter's gone.
Michael: Daniel, how could you let her in the bathroom by herself?
Man: How long's she been gone?
Daniel: I don't know. A little bit.
Michael: All right, you know what? Let's start a search. We'll help you. She can't have gotten too far.
Daniel: Okay, hey, everybody. Relax. It doesn't matter how far she's gotten.
Michael: All right. I'll bite.
Daniel: I let her go.
Michael: I'm sorry, Officer. I thought I was only dealing with one crazy person here.
Daniel: Whoa, whoa. I have not lost my mind, and we haven't lost Daisy. I slipped my cell phone into her jacket pocket. My cell phone has a tracking app on it, so we can follow her on my laptop.
Michael: And you thought letting her go and recapturing her was better than just holding on to her because?
Daniel: You know what, Michael? I get that you and Lauren want to see her locked up behind bars, but my number one priority is finding my daughter. (Tracking monitor beeps)
Michael: We could have gotten her to tell us where your daughter is.
Daniel: She's never gonna tell us that, okay? Now she's gonna lead us right to her. Trust me, this is gonna work.
Michael: All right, all right. Let's go. Let's go.
Jana: (Sighs) (American accent) Please give me another chance, hmm?
Prim: You ask too many questions.
Jana: I'm scared. I'm alone. I'm pregnant. I have no money. I have no other options, so if you turn me away...
Prim: You'll need to see a doctor. I work with one very discreet. (Sighs) He'll give you the full workup, check out the kid, the plumbing, make sure everything's in order.
Jana: It is. In fact, I saw a doctor this morning, in fact. (Sighs) We're good. I'm good. The baby's good. We're all good.
Prim: It's one thing after another with you. You want to do this or not?
Jana: Yes, I do. I want this. I'll get you the ultrasound and a full medical report, okay? Deal?
Prim: This isn't a game show.
Jana: (Sighs) I'm sorry. I don't--I-I don't mean to be difficult. It's just... I have this thing with strangers touching me. That's all.
Prim: Bring me the ultrasound and the medical records, and maybe... (Sighs) I'll help you.
Prim: Now get out of here.
Diane: Victor isn't here.
Nick: Well, that's good, 'cause I want to talk to you.
Diane: He doesn't want me spending time with you, so I think it's best if you go.
Nick: You always follow my dad's orders?
Diane: Victor doesn't give me orders.
Nick: No? Well, then what does he do? Does he make suggestions? Does he offer incentives? What exactly did he offer to give you to make me think he was gonna hand Beauty of Nature to me?
Nick: (Sighs) The truth hurts, huh? Well, now it does for both of us.
Diane: Victor did not tell me to lie to you. I heard him talking to Michael. He said he was ready to settle. I had no idea he was gonna take Newman public.
Nick: You had to know this was gonna be his big "Screw you" to me. Then you had to run over and tell me about it, and I had to watch it on TV.
Diane: Why would I do that to you?
Nick: You are his wife. A victory for him is a victory for you.
Diane: Not if it's at your expense.
Nick: Really? You're gonna say that to me after the choices you've made? You know, when you came back to town, everybody was sayin' all this stuff about you, but I didn't listen. I should have, because clearly, you are the person everyone accused you of being.
Ashley: Well, you know what? I certainly know what it's like to not have the kind of relationship you'd like to have with your mother.
Tucker: You're the only woman I need in my life.
Ashley: Thank you.
Tucker: Yeah. Yeah.
Ashley: You're sweet.
Tucker: A toast...
Tucker: To my number one lady, the sole C.E.O. of Jabot Cosmetics.
Ashley: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What are you talking about? Sole?
Tucker: I fired Jack. To you. Come on. You're about to be top dog.
Tucker: Doesn't that make you smile even a little bit?
Ashley: Well, I don't know. I mean, it's kind of a pyrrhic victory, don't you think?
Tucker: I'll get us a refill.
Ashley: Thank you.
Tucker: Excuse me.
Jack: Mind if I sit? (Clears throat)
Abby: I'll be at the bar.
Jack: So how are you gonna help me get my job back?
Ashley: I'm not.
Abby: You're an ass.
Tucker: Because I fired Jack?
Abby: You know, once my mom comes down off this endorphin high she's on, she's gonna be just as pissed at you as I am, unless you hire my Uncle Jack back now.
Jana: (Sighs) "32 week... ultrasound."
Jana: Oh, perfect.
Jana: Next... (Sighs) "Full medical record."
Tucker: (Sets down glass) I admire your spunk, Kid.
Abby: (Scoffs) You know, you might be marrying my mom, but you don't have a clue what family means. If you did, you would never fire my Uncle Jack.
Abby: When it comes to Jabot, you can't separate the two. And if you can't figure that out, you're an idiot and a jerk.
Jack: Wow, this guy really has gotten to you.
Ashley: No, Jack.
Jack: You can't back your own brother for fear of going against him?
Ashley: Jack, it's not about taking sides.
Jack: You can honestly look me in the eye and tell me you don't think I belong at Jabot?
Ashley: Look, I know how much it means to you. I get it. And I've loved working next to you. I just happen to love you more.
Jack: Yeah, and this is how you show it?
Ashley: (Sighs) Traci's right. You've become obsessed. You're obsessed with getting Jabot back.
Ashley: Oh, come on, Jack. I know you. And I know how guilty you feel for ever letting it slip away, and now you've become consumed with getting it back. In your heart of hearts, you know that Dad would never want that.
Jack: And you think this is what he would want? You running Jabot alone?
Ashley: I do. For right now, I do.
Ashley: Jackie. Jack. I'm gonna take good care of Jabot. Can you try and trust that? Maybe you can find something else to do with your life? Maybe?
Victoria: Oh, look, it's my favorite troublemaker.
Nick: Yeah, I don't think you caused enough trouble for Dad, though.
Billy: Oh, well, wait till my article comes out.
Nick: I'm not sure that's even gonna get him to back down.
Victoria: Well, you know what? Neither will we. He thinks he's outsmarted us, but we can still get our hands on Beauty of Nature.
Nick: We're gonna use the I.P.O. to beat him at his own game. Did you happen to hear how the deal's being structured?
Billy: I-I really don't get this. Why are you guys diggin' your heels in on this Beauty of Nature thing? I mean, come on. I'm all for one-upping your dad, but why don't you just take your billion dollars and start your own cosmetics company? Cut yourself loose from Victor. I mean, isn't that what you were trying to do with all this anyway?
Heather: Once you've read it, you'll--you'll have to initial each page and then sign here.
Victor: Okay. All right.
Heather: Um, and, of course, Michael will want to go through everything before we, uh, file it with the S.E.C.
Victor: Thank you, Heather.
Heather: Victor, I, um...
Heather: I'm--I'm very sorry about Billy showing up at the press conference. Security definitely should have done a better job.
Victor: Heather, don't worry about that, okay? Don't give that punk another thought. I'm not worried about him, nor should you.
(Knock on door)
Kay: May I come in?
Victor: Yes, Katherine, of course you may.
Heather: Uh, just let me know when you've had a chance to look over those.
Victor: Thank you, Heather. Very kind of you.
Heather: Great. Hey.
Victor: I trust you saw the press conference.
Victor: What'd you think?
Kay: You know, Victor, I know you...
Kay: Better than anyone. And just the idea of you losing control of your company, taking orders from strangers...
Kay: Must be like somebody's ripping your heart out, huh?
Kay: So what I thought, my friend, why don't we come up with some kind of strategy to keep that from happening?
Victor: Sounds interesting. What do you have in mind, Katherine, hmm?
Nick: Dad keeping Beauty of Nature from us is personal. It's not business.
Victoria: We want it because of what it means to us, and he wants it to hurt us, and I don't want him to hurt me anymore.
Billy: Mm. I'll tell you what, excuse me. I, uh, I gotta go check on a pretty face, a friendly face.
Nick: This fight with Dad-- it's gonna get a lot uglier than the first one. You still up for this?
Victoria: We need to call Vance and find out how much stock Dad has to sell so that we can leverage our combined shares to take control, unless you're having second thoughts.
Nick: You want to make the call, or should I?
Kay: (Sighs) Oh, Nikki. (Sighs) I'm so glad to see you.
Nikki: Oh, I'm not sure if Victor will be.
Kay: Well, don't let him stop you. Don't let anything stop you.
Diane: Ahh. Excuse me, Ladies. I'm here to see my husband.
Michael: You sure this is right?
(Tracking monitor beeps)
Daniel: Yeah, signal says Daisy's in the alley.
Michael: Well, she's been in there a while.
Daniel: Oh, would you just relax? We can wait her out.
Michael: No, this is going on too long. If she finds the phone, we'll lose both of them. Come on. Tell your guys to get ready. We're headed in there. Come on. Let's go before the day gets any more insane.
Jana: (Sighs) God, don't want to lose these.
Billy: (Makes silly noises)
Jana: (Sighs) Hello.
Billy: Hey, hey, hey. Look who's feelin' better. You okay? You feelin' all right?
Jana: Yeah, uh, better. I'm--I'm so sorry I couldn't be there for the-- the christening-- the whole thing. I think it might have been just something I ate.
Billy: Ooh, all right. Well, I'm glad it's not contagious, and, I am--
(Cell phone rings)
Billy: Uh-oh. Glad you're back. Uh, do you mind? I gotta get this. Here. (Imitates airplane soaring)
Jana: No, not in the least. Come here, beautiful Lucy! Hello! (Laughs)
Jana: Come on. Come on. We're gonna go over here.
Billy: (Clears throat) Billy Abbott.
Prim: Private adoption means private, between you and me.
Billy: Yeah, well, I didn't tell anybody about our transaction.
Prim: I don't do a lot of these, and yet after yours, along comes a woman nosing around asking questions.
Billy: Hey, look, Lady, I paid you a whole lot of money to make sure this thing went off without a hitch, so you damn sure better make sure it does.
Jana: Everything all right?
Billy: Yeah. Yeah. Everything's fine. Everything's good.
Michael: Okay, where is she?
Daniel: I don't know, Michael. G.P.S. doesn't give me an exact location. She could be in any one of these buildings.
Michael: It doesn't give us an exact location. That's great. That... (Sighs) Maybe you ought to check inside.
(Cell phone alert chimes)
Michael: (Sighs) Wait.
Michael: Uh, "So long, suckers." She's gone. She's gone! How am I supposed to explain this to Lauren?
Daniel: I'm sorry, Michael. It's my fault.
Abby: Yes, Kent, my father taking his company public does mean that I will be getting my settlement in cash. I can finance my show myself. I have everything I want.
Abby: Um, what'll half a billion dollars get me?
Ashley: Yeah, hi. I need to speak with Howard. (Sighs) Well, tell him it's about the Newman I.P.O. I want in.
Jack: I'm saying start pulling cash out of everything. I don't care about penalties. I need to have enough capital on hand when Victor sends out those first invites. And make sure I get one.
Tucker: I want all the Newman stock we can get our hands on. I don't care how you do it. Just do it.
Victoria: So once Dad starts to divest himself of stock, how much will Nick and I need to get control of the company?
Diane: I know you specialize in picking up the pieces of Victor's life, but no need this time. I got it covered.
Kay: All right, now listen to me. She cannot fix Victor, and he will realize that himself soon enough. In the meantime, let's just try and help him the best we can.
Nikki: Well, maybe you can help him Katherine. (Sighs) That door is closed for me.
(Champagne cork pops)
Diane: Thank you.
Victor: What, by the way, are we celebrating?
Diane: Well, my brilliant husband, of course. You owned that press conference. And the way you put Billy Abbott in his place-- priceless. Speaking of which, that I.P.O. is gonna make it impossible for anyone to calculate your worth, which in itself is worth popping a cork.
Victor: Just another day.
Diane: Just another day, huh?
Diane: Well, then I guess we'll have to make it a special evening.
Diane: (Sighs) But how are we gonna do that?
Diane: Oh. I can think of something.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Doris: It kills me to turn away from you at a time like this, but you've left me no choice.
Lily: Cane! (Gasps)
Chloe: What is--?
Jana: Give that back!
Chloe: Is that an ultrasound?
Jana: None of your damn business!
