Jana: (Sighs) Kevin? (Sighs)
Woman: Again, the shooting at First United Church has left two confirmed fatalities, Cane Ashby and Blake Joseph. Both men were Australian nationals and worked recently for McCall Unlimited. Just before their deaths, they were fired.
Jana: Oh, God, poor Mrs. C. Poor Lily. Poor Jill. Poor Chloe.
Kevin: Yo. Hey. Stop.
Chloe: Will you just leave me alone? Leave me alone.
Kevin: (Sighs) Look, I get that you're sad about Cane and Cha--
Chloe: I'm not sad. I'm pissed off.
Kevin: At who?
Chloe: At you.
Kevin: Because I didn't tell you that Billy and Victoria adopted a baby? I said I was sorry.
Chloe: Well, that's not good enough.
Kevin: (Sighs) Look, what happened to Cane, what happened to Chance, it's terrible. I kno--
Chloe: I don't want to talk about them anymore.
Kevin: Fine. Fine. Don't talk. I'm not going anywhere, though.
Chloe: Of course you're not. Of course you're not. (Sighs)
Kevin: I don't even know what that means.
Chloe: It means you all leave. You all lie and cheat and leave and die, and I am just not interested anymore. I'm not. I don't want to get involved with another guy and watch them just go off with another girl or-- or end up 6 feet under, 'cause Chance-- Chance was an overachiever, and he fell in love with Heather, and he broke my heart. And then he died, and he just broke my heart all over again.
Heather: Really? Ch--Chance is really--
Chris: Yep, he's a donor match for Ronan. (Sighs)
Ronan: (Sighs) All right, listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Th-this is really great news, but nothing has changed, all right? The drug ring trial is right around the corner. And if Chance comes back before then, it's gonna put the case and himself in jeopardy, and you know that.
Chris: You know something? I fired you. You don't get a vote.
Chris: Anyway, Chance is already here in Genoa City.
Heather: Chance is home?
Jill: No. No. Chance?
Chance: Hello, Grandma.
Jill: Oh, my God.
Jill: Oh, my God. (Sighs)
Nina: Yeah, it's real. He's alive.
Jill: Tell me it's true.
Chance: It's true. It's me.
Chance: Come here. Hi.
Jill: Wait a minute. You're alive, but... your mother saw you die. There was a funeral.
Chance: Yes, I know. Look, I know what you went through. I wish it hadn't had to be that way for you.
Jill: Well, not just for me, for... wait, you knew?
Chance: Itís... a complicated story.
Lily: You couldn't sleep, either, huh? Well, guess what? We can have "Mommy and Matty" time, okay? So we won't wake up your brother or your uncle or grandpa. Aren't we lucky to have such amazing men in our lives? Just like your daddy. See?
Lily: Look. Your daddy's smiling at you. Yeah. Want me to press "Play," huh? We're so lucky that we still get to hear Daddy's voice. You see?
Devon: Hey, what's the matter? You still can't sleep?
Lily: No, I canít. My head won't stop spinning. I mean, I want to sleep. I do. I want to sleep and dream of Cane and pretend like this whole thing never even happened. But then I'll wake up and he'll be gone. And he can't be gone all over again. He canít.
Neil: Lily, its-- its okay, Baby. It's--it's all right.
Lily: No, Dad, don't, okay? Listen, Charlie and Mattyís father is dead. And it should have never happened, but it did, and I want to know why.
Colin: They are beautiful.
Kay: Yes, they are.
Colin: You know, now that I'm married to Jill, I guess, well, these are my grandkids. I mean, she did look upon Cane like a son. Right?
Kay: Well, we loved him like a family. And we needed him, and because he had no one in Australia, he needed us.
Daniel: You're sure? The tests that you did are conclusive? I'm the father? Thank you.
Victoria: Uh, you can hold her. You know, if you want to. She's kind of addictive.
Billy: Yo, Man, you okay?
Heather: (Sighs) He's back.
Chance: Nobody's gonna kill me. I was your bodyguard, all right? You trusted me to keep you safe. Now trust me again that I will do the same for myself. I will, okay? I'll be safe. I'll be fine. As soon as this is over, I'll come right back here, straight to you, okay?
Paul: Oh, sorry.
Heather: Oh, no, I'm sorry. (Stammers) I just--I needed a second.
Paul: Uh, Chris and Ronan are going over the security protocol with the doctor.
Heather: (Sighs) Because Chance is risking his life by coming back here for Ronan and--and for the case.
Paul: And probably for a couple other reasons, too. That's what you needed a second for?
Heather: We weren't together. We--we weren't a couple. But... he did say that he-- he would... so much has changed since then. (Sighs)
Paul: Listen, whatever happens, promise me that you'll take things slowly.
Nina: The trial is just a few days away, and we can't risk anyone knowing that Chance is alive. If it got back to Pomerantz and the others--
Jill: They'd try to get to him so he couldn't testify. Oh, my God, you should have stayed away. You should have stayed safe. Why did you come back? For me? You came back for me because of Cane?
Chance: I thought maybe I could help you through this.
Jill: Oh, my God--Phillip. We've gotta tell Phillip. He's--he's a world away, and he can keep a secret. Please.
Chance: (Chuckles) Dad can keep a secret...
Chance: And he has.
Jill: Phillip knew?
Nina: It's part of the reason why he left when he did. He loves you, Jill. He couldn't bear to see you suffer.
Jill: (Sighs) And now you want me to do the same thing-- not tell anyone that this beautiful, brave young man is still in the world?
Jill: I am not gonna risk getting you hurt by blabbing that you're back. I almost lost you, and it was agony, but you're back. And you can believe me, I am gonna keep my mouth shut. (Sighs) My God. Oh. Oh.
Billy: Hey, uh, Buddy. No offense, but if you're not feeling well, maybe you should back away from the baby, you know?
Daniel: No, it's, uh, just--just been a long day.
Murphy: Yeah, well, the news about Cane is kicking in for a lot of people.
Daniel: I should probably take off. Um, this is time for family to be together. I'm sorry for your loss.
Kay: Thank you for coming.
Chloe: I live here. Please go home. Just go home!
Daniel: I gotta get outta here.
Chloe: Don't think that you can just distract me with "The Kevin and Chloe show." Yay, us.
Kevin: (Sighs) Look, I'm sorry about Cane, okay? I am, but it's not like he was the big love of your lie.
Chloe: So it doesn't matter that he died?
Kevin: Of course it matters. I'm just saying it's not an excuse as to why we can't be together.
Chloe: Well, we canít. It's not gonna work. Come on. We kissed, like, weeks ago. What do have to show for it?
Kevin: We're closer than ever, that's what.
Chloe: Are we really? Really? Because I think that-- I can't believe this is actually working for you. I think that we should be "Having crazy, mad sex, talking all night, 'Where'd you get that scar from?' Honeymoon phase." And instead, it's "Hey, just say hi to your amnesiac missus for me."
Kevin: Okay, you know what? You've always been a whiner, and you've always been bratty, but this whole giving up thing, that's new.
Chloe: I'm going inside.
Devon: (Sighs) I figured since I'm up, I'll go get some diapers and other stuff that we need.
(Cell phone vibrates)
Neil: Mm. Who's calling this late?
Lily: It's Daniel. He's outside. He wants to know if I'm still awake.
Neil: No, Sweetheart. No, no, no. You--you rest. You need your rest. Let me tell him, okay?
Lily: No, Dad, listen, I'm fine, okay? Just go help Devon. You know, we need formula and food. I can take care of myself. I'm fine, really.
Neil: Okay. We'll be back soon, all right?
Neil: (Sighs) Okay. Hey.
Neil: Got it?
Daniel: I got it.
Daniel: How you doing?
Lily: I just don't understand how this can be happening. I-I don't understand.
Daniel: Because none of it makes any sense. So how can it be real if it doesn't make any sense, right? Maybe... maybe it isn't happening after all.
Lily: But it is happening.
Chloe: Mm. Kissing me doesn't change anything.
Kevin: Well, flouncing off isn't gonna change anything, either. We still want to be together.
Chloe: (Sighs) It's never gonna work.
Kevin: (Scoffs) Would you stop being such a "Debbie Downer"?
Chloe: I'm not being a "Debbie Downer." I just can't be spunky and witty and clever and, "Oh, let's go-- let's go rent a room." It will never work. It's not gonna happen.
Kevin: So what are you telling me? Are you saying you're giving up on us?
Chloe: No, I'm just... (Voice cracks) I'm just tired.
Kevin: Okay, which isn't the same as giving up, right? So... I just need you to stop talking for now, okay? Just... just shut up and stop thinking, because I'm gonna fix this.
Kevin: Where are you going?
Chloe: I'm going inside. (Sniffles) I'm cold.
Billy: Hey, Chloe. (Stammers) Man.
Colin: You know, some people like to be alone. But your mother, well, she likes people, noise, distractions, something to focus on. Your baby, I think, is just the ticket.
Victoria: Uh, do you have children, Colin?
Colin: (Clears throat)
Victoria: Was that just a sniffle?
Victoria: Did you sniffle?
Billy: She's been fussy all day. I don't know if it's a sniffle.
Victoria: Well, I-I think that earlier she was warm. I thought it was because I had her bundled too tight, but I don't know.
Billy: Oh, look, she's yawning. I mean, it's too much out and about. We gotta go.
Kay: (Stammers) What's the matter?
Murphy: What? Is she sick?
Victoria: No, I'm sure that she'll be fine. Um, I'm sure it's nothing, right?
Kay: Well, yeah. Oh, please. Uh, yes, go, for heaven sakes.
Victoria: It's okay?
Kay: Yes, absolutely.
Victoria: Okay. All right.
Billy: You ready to go home? You ready to go home?
Victoria: Let's go.
Billy: All right.
Victoria: All right, everybody.
Kay: Just be sure to take care of each other, all right?
Victoria: Oh, we will.
Billy: Bye. Bye.
Murphy: Bye, Baby.
Billy: Uh, let's go, Baby.
Chance: Chloe... how is she?
Nina: She's, um... she's coping like everybody else.
Jill: Where are you staying while you're here? A safe house?
Chance: Actually, I will be at the hospital.
Jill: Is something the matter with you?
Chance: Grandma, I'm fine.
Nina: Look, you know Ronan is ill. He needs a liver transplant, and Chance is a match.
Jill: Oh, my God. You came back to have major surgery for your brother?
Chance: There will be wall-to-wall security. No one is coming anywhere near me. Except the surgeon, that is.
(Cell phone vibrates)
Chance: Then afterwards, I'll testify at the trial.
Chance: The driver's here. I have to go.
Jill: Tell me that I'll see you again soon.
Chance: Grandma, you will see me again soon. I promise.
Jill: (Sighs) This is your doing. Come here.
Jill: Thank you.
Nina: Of course. Okay, come on.
Chance: Yeah. All right.
Nina: (Whispering) Okay, come on.
Billy: Well, it-- it was just a sniffle, and then we got to the car, and she started to cough, and it's--oh, oh, oh, here.
Billy: Did you hear that? Yeah, no, is--is it-- is it the croup? Or what do we--yes. Okay, yeah. Yeah, we could do that. Okay, but what if it doesn't work? Then--okay. Well, I'll--yeah. I'll call you back. Okay. Thank you. Um--
Victoria: She heard Lucy cough? Is it the croup? What?
Billy: (Stammers) I don't know. She just said that we should probably take her into the shower and turn on the hot water and close all the doors and let the steam, like, clear--
Victoria: Well, what about the emergency room, though? We should go to the emergency--
Billy: Uh, well, she had a good point. She said that, you know, if we take her to the emergency room, there's sick people there, and we should probably avoid taking Lucy around sick people.
Victoria: Okay. All right. Fine. Shower. Now. Go. Shower.
Billy: Shower. Let's go. Shower. Come on. Go.
Lily: They have been up and down all night. I know that it's my fault. I know that they can feel my nerves. It's like, one minute I'm okay, and then the next... (Sighs)
Lily: I keep thinking about the computer, because Cane left a message for the twins, a video.
Daniel: Well, he didn't know that he was--
Lily: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We--we got in this fight, and he wanted to see me the next day. And I couldn't promise that I would.
Lily: And so... (Sighs) He left a message for the twins to let them know how much he loves them. And I shut the door in his face. I told him to leave. (Sighs) It's like, after the cancer, and the deportation scare, and the twins coming early, I shut the door in my husband's face.
Daniel: Hey. You want to lose it? I'll take Matty in the other room. But I don't think that's gonna happen. I think you're gonna hang on to her and to Charlie and I think you're gonna remember that all Cane cared about was you and the twins. He's a good man, and he was a great father.
Lily: Yeah, and they'll never know.
Daniel: I think you're forgetting that I've seen you almost beaten before, and I know firsthand that you don't ever give up.
Lily: (Sighs) Daniel, being on the run was different.
Daniel: Yeah, it was different, but you're not. You are still you, and you are gonna keep Cane alive for your kids, and he's gonna be with you and with them every day in pictures and in stories, in the video that he made for them. Cane is in these kids, and he's in you, too.
Daniel: All right?
Jill: Uh, where's Billy and the others?
Colin: Uh, well, Kevin and Daniel, uh, left. And, uh, Lucy I think they said had a cold? Uh, nothing to worry about.
Kay: No, I'm, uh, I'm sure she's fine.
Murphy: You got some color back in your cheeks.
Kay: No, you do. You look better.
Jill: Yeah? Yeah. Um, thank God for Lucy. She's the new generation, right? And we're married, so that's a new beginning. So there's hope, Katherine. I mean, even if you don't know it right now, if you can't touch it or feel it yet...
Kay: I'm sure you're right.
Jill: My God, I should just stop talking. I know I should.
Chloe: (Sighs) I thought everyone would be asleep by now. Nightcap, anyone?
Murphy: Kinda late, Kiddo.
Chloe: You know what, Murphy? You're right. I should have started drinking hours ago.
Jana: Oh, thank God. Thank God. Thank god you're home.
Kevin: (Grunts) What?
Jana: Oh, God, I was watching the news, and I-I heard about Cane being murdered. It's terrible, these people. They're so violent and cruel. They're like Ryder and Daisy.
Kevin: Yeah. Yeah, it's tragic, but look, I'm fine, and you and I need to talk. You deserve the truth, Jana, and I haven't told you everything. And you should know your own life, things that have happened.
Jana: (Sighs) But, you know, too much all at once can be very--
Kevin: We're divorced. We have been for quite some time now.
Jana: Now that is a really cruel... bad joke.
Kevin: It's not a joke.
Jana: But you saved me from Ryder and Daisy. I mean, how can we go from that to this?
Kevin: During the rescue, there was trauma. It... it messed with your emotions, and... and you pushed me away.
Jana: No. Never. I would never do that. I loved you then, and I love you now still.
Kevin: No, Jana. You didnít. You didn't love me. I tried. Believe me, I tried. But in the end, I... (Sighs) I had to move on. I had to give up.
Jana: You would never give up. (Sighs) You wouldn't do that. And I would never stop loving you. I'm sorry. Okay? I'm sorry for hurting you. My God! I hate myself for hurting you. But these... these past few weeks, they've just been so normal, you know? So right. Just like they used to be. (Sighs)
Kevin: There's somebody else.
Jana: (Laughs) So soon? That's not possible.
Kevin: (Sighs) Its not-- it's not so soon. It took a really long time, actually.
Jana: Well, you know, whoever she is, it's not real.
Kevin: It is, Jana.
Jana: But it's not like what you and I have.
Kevin: No. No. But...
Kevin: (Sighs) Jana, look. Look, it's--it's--it's--it's not.
Kevin: Okay? It's not like what we had. But itís... its good, and it's gonna be great. Honey, listen, I'm gonna-- I'm gonna be with Chloe, all right?
Jana: (Sobs) (Sighs)
Kevin: (Sighs) (Sighs)
Jill: Chloe? Do you want to talk?
Chloe: I'm sorry?
Jill: About Cane or anything?
Chloe: You think I'm trying to make this all about myself?
Jill: No. No, I'm serious. I mean, I know that you cared about Cane and your family.
Chloe: Because I trapped Cane and Billy with a baby?
Chloe: Well, I'm not your family anymore, so you don't have to worry about it.
Jill: Would you stop it? I get it, okay? You think if you're a bitch, the pain's gonna be less? Well, trust me, that is just not true, and I know. Honey, take a minute, okay? I know it's hard. But give yourself a break. Things are gonna get better. There's always a second chance.
Chloe: I think I'm fresh outta those.
Chris: This section's in lockdown. All set for arrival. I've got undercover agents at every point of entry, some dressed as medical staff.
Heather: And where will Chance be?
Chris: In a secured room until surgery.
Paul: So the security team has been briefed?
Chris: Yeah, Ronan's, uh, specialist will know all the information before he lands.
Paul: And the surgical team, as well?
Chris: All right.
Heather: I guess I should go tell Ronan.
(Cell phone vibrates)
Chris: (Sighs) Here we go.
Paul: (Laughs) Jeez. Good to have you back.
Chance: It is good to be back.
Heather: The wing's ready. Chance is on his way.
Ronan: Wait, now how much security is here right now? It--
Heather: Oh, come on. She's not about to let anything happen to anybody.
Ronan: If any of those ex-cops or Pomerantz or any of his soldiers find out that Chance is in--
Heather: All right, so what are you gonna do? You gonna get out of bed and beat them all up? Or might I suggest you just lie there, get half a healthy liver, and go on with your life?
Ronan: That's another option.
Chance: You just couldn't stop digging, could you?
Heather: (Sighs) Oh.
Chance: I should have known.
Ronan: It looks like some woodland creature died on your face.
Chance: I guess the doc didn't tell you. You get half my liver, you grow half a beard. Congrats. (Chuckles)
Billy: (Sighs) Here, let me.
Victoria: All right, here.
Billy: Hey, Luce. Come on.
Billy: Here we go.
Billy: Here we go.
Billy: All right. (Sighs) Reed never had anything like this?
Victoria: No. I-I mean, I-I don't know. I-I was in the hospital the first few months, so... (Sighs)
Billy: Oh, yeah. Well... (Clears throat) With Dee, I wasn't exactly "Father of the year." Actually, Cane was around that time, so...
Billy: Let's face it. We are rookies when it comes to the tiny ones.
Victoria: Just-- I hate this. I hate the thought of her sick or--or in pain or anything, you know? It just--
Billy: It's scary, yeah.
Victoria: It makes me... (Sighs) Just really makes me furious. It's just she should never have to suffer. If anyone hurts her or does anything to her, I-- I swear to God, I could--
Billy: Yeah, you're gonna rip their lungs out?
Victoria: I will rip their lungs out through their nose. (Sighs)
Billy: Whoa, that is a visual. You're like a little mama lioness.
Victoria: Because she's ours now. She's--I mean, she's really our baby now, right?
Billy: Yes, she is. She's ours.
Lily: So has anything changed? You were so sure that you didn't want to be a father.
Daniel: Well, this... this is a little different. I can always hand her back to you. (Laughs) Mm, sorry.
Lily: You know, she was already a daddy's girl, just after only a few months. And now they'll have Cane's name, but they won't have a father.
Daniel: Well, I think that this little one has a pretty great family lookin' out for her-- an amazing mom, a really cool musical Uncle Devon, an intelligent Grandpa Neil. Yeah? A kind of crazy semi-grandmother Jill. You got all these other people that want to hang out with her and her brother. And, you know, her father... her father's always gonna be watching over her. And he's gonna watch her grow up happy and healthy and loved. And what more could a father ask for?
Jana: Well, we're not married anymore, so there's no reason for you to stay, is there?
Kevin: I care about what happens to you.
Kevin: I just couldn't live a lie anymore. And I know you wouldn't want to live that way, either. You okay?
Jana: I'm not sure.
Kevin: Do you have any other questions about--
Jana: No, I don't want to hear anything else about that. (Sighs)
Kevin: Well, you just tell me whatever it is that you do need, okay? I want to make this transition as easy as-- as easy as possible.
Jana: (Sniffles, sighs)
Kay: Well, well, well, well. I thought you went up.
Chloe: Evidently, I didn't drink enough.
Kay: (Chuckles) Are we, uh, talking about Cane, or, uh, is there more?
Chloe: (Sighs) Sometimes, I think you just gotta cut your losses.
Kay: Mm-hmm. All right, what or whom are we talking about?
Chloe: Kevin. I think I just gotta give up.
Kay: No, no, no, no, no, no.
Billy: See? Apparently, doctors do know a thing or two.
Victoria: Yeah. Look at her. No cough, no bark--nothing.
Billy: Hmm. She's a tough one.
Victoria: Hey. Don't die.
Victoria: No, I'm serious. I mean, Reed is so far away, and... I know that Lucy just has the croup, and she's fine now, but... I can't lose any of you... ever. So please don't die, okay?
Billy: Okay. Daddy's not goin' anywhere.
Lily: Well, hopefully, she'll sleep through the night now.
Daniel: (Sighs) Okay, well, you know, I should probably get a move on, and hopefully, you can get some sleep, too.
Lily: (Sighs) Yeah, we'll see.
Daniel: Yeah, we will. Bye.
Daniel: Bye. (Clears throat) Oh, hey.
Neil: Hey. Good timing. Thanks.
Daniel: Have a good night, Guys.
Neil: Yeah, you, too. Drive safe, okay?
Neil: Bye. Hey, Honey.
Devon: We got everything.
Lily: Thank you.
Lily: Uh, do you mind if I don't help you unpack? I'm just really tired. I think I'm gonna get some rest.
Devon: Yeah, yeah, of course. Do what you want to do. We're fine.
Neil: Sleep tight, Baby.
Devon: You're thinkin' about Mom again, aren't you?
Neil: That look-- that look on her face.
Devon: Yeah, you had it after we lost Mom.
Neil: She's too young. She shouldn't have to go through that. No one should.
Jill: I'm gonna have to talk to Lily about the funeral arrangements. The music, the flowers-- I have no idea what Cane would want. (Sighs) Honey, you look so tired.
Colin: (Sighs) Our wedding night-- not exactly what we had planned.
Jill: I'm sorry.
Colin: So am I.
Jill: But you know something? There are little reminders, just little moments, when I realize that everything's gonna be okay... eventually. (Sighs)
Chris: Okay, got it. Back to your posts.
Nina: It's kinda cool watching you in action.
Chris: I've got my best men and women on this. Nothing's gonna go wrong here or with the case.
Nina: Thank you for protecting Chance and Ronan. I know Ronan wouldn't be having this surgery if you hadn't given the go-ahead.
Chris: Yeah, don't thank me until this all goes off without a hitch.
Nina: No, I'm thanking you right now. My sons are in one place. I never thought that that would happen again. Thank you.
Ronan: Boy, did you blow it, or what? You and your face varmint could be out in the world right now havin' a cold beer, and tellin' everybody you're a lumberjack.
Chance: Yeah. Instead, I'm stuck in here, just like you.
Ronan: You in?
Chance: Dealer's choice. Toss 'em over.
Ronan: Just 'cause a guy gives up half his liver, he feels like he can start makin' demands.
Chance: (Laughs) Yeah, that sounds about right to me. All right, the game is called "Spit."
Ronan: "S-Spit"? Excuse me?
Chance: Yeah, Spit. Look, don't worry about it if you can't keep up. Most softies canít.
Ronan: (Laughs sarcastically)
Paul: So how did it go seeing Chance?
Heather: See for yourself.
Chance: Watch and learn.
Ronan: What is this? (Stammers) What are you doing? What is this? One of your Boy Scout games?
Nina: I taught it to him. And it's a perfectly good game, but you both should be getting your rest.
Ronan: Uh-oh, I think I'm getting sent back to my room.
Chance: You gonna stand up to her, Tough Guy, or what?
Ronan: Ha ha ha. Just come on. Deal your stupid game out. What are you doing with all of this?
Ronan: S-- (Scoffs) Are you serio-- what, is this rigged? Did you just cheat?
Chance: Pick 'em up. Come on.
Ronan: I'm gettin' 'em. I'm gettin' 'em. I'm gettin' 'em, all right?
Next on "The Young and the Restless...
Jana: You set Kevin free.
Chloe: Get out of my house.
Chance: If it helps any, leaving you was the hardest part.
Jill: How long have you known he was alive?
Kay: Soon after the funeral.
Jill: And you never said a word to me?
