Episode # 9570 ~ Ronan Makes Plans to Leave
Proofread By Emma
Chloe: So is it all over? Please tell me. Please tell me. Did--did the shrink just tell Jana that you guys are not married anymore? And guess what? If the answer is no, please tell me yes.
Kevin: Uh, yes. And by that, I mean no. Dr. Mason thinks it would basically crack Jana into a million pieces, so for now...
Chloe: Seriously? I mean, seriously?
Kevin: But not for long, okay? I have a plan.
(Knock on door)
Chris: Spencer's in court. I'm leaving him a message myself.
Heather: Uh, actually, I-I came here to see you.
Chris: If this is about Chance--
Heather: No, no. Ronan, actually. Tell me what it will take for you to give him his job back.
Ronan: Listen, I don't suppose I moved up a few notches on the donor list, did I? I didn't think so. All right, thanks, Doc.
(Knock on door)
Ronan: It's not a good time right now.
Nina: No, it's a rotten time. You're sick. I'm not a donor match, and you just lost your job. Why don't you let me in and let me help?
Kay: Tax evasion. Mm-hmm. That's the only reason he was sent to prison?
Paul: Evidently. And because it is such a broad crime, we really don't know if Jill is taking a risk dating him, but I will keep digging and see what I can find out. But he doesn't appear dangerous so far.
Kay: Well, you know, Paul, the man has a charming accent, but I have a gut feeling that, uh, he's bad news. Now if Jill is not smart enough to protect herself, I will.
Colin: (Sighs) You know, you gotta start wearing shorter skirts. Or preferably none at all.
Jill: (Chuckles) Mm.
Colin: Nice legs, and strong.
Jill: You're no slouch, either.
Colin: Oh, we are a pair.
Jill: Mm, aren't we, though?
Cane: So I don't know how to say thank you. You know, if you hadn't fixed that report that I botched, I--
Sofia: Look, look, look. All this mess with James Collier, we just need to hammer it out and figure out what's gonna happen next.
Blake: Hello, hello.
Cane: What are you doing here?
Blake: The boss asks me to jump, I say, "How high?"
Sofia: Save your sweet talk for someone who buys it.
Kevin: Well, Jana is piecing the last year together, and it's scaring the hell out of her. The doctor thinks that being with me is the only thing that's keeping her from totally losing it.
Chloe: (Stammers) Look, it's not like I want the girl's brains to leak out of her head or anything like that. I just don't think that this whole make-believe thing is really doing anybody any good-- anyone, for that matter, for us.
Kevin: I get that, and I agree, which is why I have a plan. I'm gonna take Jana to the revival movie theater. The same movie was playing when Ryder and Daisy kidnapped her.
Chloe: Okay, so you think that going to the movies, it may trigger some memories?
Kevin: Hopefully, she'll start to remember some things. And after that is dealt with... (Sighs) You and me... finally. Mm.
(Snoring sounds from bedroom)
Kay: Oh, my God. She's got him in bed. Are you out of your mind?
Jill: Katherine? What the hell are you doing in here?
Kay: Well, you were snoring so loudly, and I assumed you had your Australian friend doing a sleepover. Do you know that man has done time?
Colin: Oh, how embarrassing. Another of my sordid little secrets.
Sofia: You're a fake, and your real name's not even James Collier. Whatever your real business is...
Sofia: You don't know a damn thing about Biofuel. And I did not call the police or the FBI, and you can thank me by getting out of our lives as soon as possible.
Blake: (Purses lips) (Inhales sharply) So just like that, huh? Cane pays his debt, and I go on my merry way? Well, I don't know what my friend here told you, but James Collier is owed a lot more paychecks.
Cane: Well, maybe you should go to your boss and ask him to cut his price or give me more time.
Blake: Well, he wants what is his, all of it. So I suggest you figure it out, both of you.
Heather: I forced Ronan to tell me that chance was still alive. He didn't have a choice.
Chris: Look, he defied a directive.
Heather: Well, didn't you, when you told me that he was FBI?
Chris: And if my superior had wanted me fired, that would have been his prerogative.
Heather: Y-y-you're speaking to me as an employee of the department of justice, but you're also Nina's best friend, and she was right what she said yesterday. If Ronan doesn't have this job, he has no reason to stay in Genoa City. And if he leaves, yeah, he still doesn't have a job. He also has no family. If he gets sicker, who's gonna look after him?
Chris: That's not fair.
Heather: You can't just let him go.
Chris: Yes, Nina is my best friend, and I care about her and her sons, but this isn't just about them. It's about all the other lives that Ronan put in danger when he confirmed your suspicion. Now my decision stands. Ronan is out of the bureau.
Nina: I think Cricket was totally out of line firing you. And I just assumed since she knows so much about you that she knew you were sick.
Ronan: No. (Sighs) I, uh, I left that out during our briefing.
Nina: If your illness had anything to do with her letting you go, I am so sorry.
Ronan: No, no, no, no, no. She was gonna find out sometime. It just... it just happened sooner than later this way.
Nina: God, you're so calm. You certainly didn't get that from me. I was heartbroken when I found out I wasn't a match for you.
Ronan: Its better that you keep your own liver anyway. I hear they come in handy.
Nina: Don't make jokes.
Ronan: Don't make jokes? It wasn't really a funny joke anyway.
Nina: Look, we can't just wait around for you to move up the donor list, all right? If you know of a way to get a hold of Chance, you should do--
Ronan: All right, do you want your son to get killed?
Nina: No, I want both of my sons in this world alive, even if I can't be with them.
Ronan: If we contact Chance, we put him at risk. For what? What if he's not a match? Then we put a target on his back for no reason.
Nina: What do you mean, for no--?
Ronan: It's not worth it.
Nina: (Sighs) Your life isn't worth saving?
Ronan: Maybe it's time that we just start accepting things, and stop trying to figure out how to extend my life, and just be grate-- be grateful for the time that I have left.
Nina: Yeah. You're giving up?
Ronan: No. No, I'm not. I'm just saying that... I'm just saying that maybe it's time for you to start figuring out how to let me go.
Colin: (Clears throat)
Kay: How did you end up in prison?
Colin: I'm a businessman, a venture capitalist. Uh, I'm sure as a businessperson yourself, you must understand what it's like when you cross the line.
Kay: Well, I have run a multibillion-dollar business for years, and I have never been arrested.
Jill: Oh, stop with the self-righteousness.
Colin: Ladies, please. Go to your corners.
Colin: Look, there's been plenty of upstanding businessmen who've made slipups. And then, of course, you've gotta deal with the government always wanting to stick it to the well-off.
Kay: Yes, but my instincts tell me that your... slipups are a little less than innocent.
Jill: Well, your instincts can just take a hike, Katherine, 'cause Colin is my guest.
Kay: Oh... (Scoffs) Would you start thinking with your head, Jill, instead of your...
Colin: I remember reading something somewhere about your dearly departed husband. Uh, there were all kinds of messy accusations, and I think murder was mentioned. Did I say that?
Jill: I believe you did.
Colin: (Clears throat) Do you think you deserved that? I mean, just 'cause something looks bad doesn't mean that that's the way it is.
Jill: Is he a man, or what?
Kay: I'm going to dig the skeletons from your closet and I'm going to line them up one... by one.
Cane: I'm gonna go to Tucker. I'm gonna go to the police. I'm gonna tell them everything, and I will deal with this myself, okay?
Sofia: No. What if Blake and his boss-- what if they retaliate? Go after Lily and the twins? No, no, it's best that we get them their damn money. So from now on, we're gonna do James Collier's work together and make sure those creeps get paid.
Cane: You're savin' my ass again. You know, you did it when I was gonna get deported. So why are you doing it? Why are you putting yourself on the line for me? Why?
Jana: (Sighs) What a wonderful surprise this is. God, it feels like ages since we've been on a real date, doesn't it?
Kevin: This is true.
Jana: (Sighs) Oh, I love it here. You know, Amber and I were here a few months ago. That's wrong, isn't it? It was longer than that, wasn't it?
Jana: Oh, it's so bloody unnerving to always be wrong about everything. (Sighs)
Kevin: Uh, well, this is a transition. You'll catch up.
Jana: (Sighs) What was the last movie we saw? I mean, in a proper cinema? Though I do love movie nights at home. You are quite the snuggler on the sofa, you are.
Kevin: (Chuckles) (Clears throat) Uh, "Lady from Shanghai"-- total classic.
Kevin: You have seen it, right?
Jana: Yeah, I have, on the telly. This'll be so fun to see it on the big screen. (Sighs) Thank you. Thank you for doing this. This just... this makes me so happy.
Kevin: (Chuckles) Popcorn. I'll be right back.
Kevin: (Whispering) What are you doing?
Chloe: (Whispering) So I want to catch an old movie. How's operation, uh, "Hurry up and remember already before our heads explode"?
Kevin: (Chuckles) Well, that was succinct. Nothing so far, but this is where Jana was kidnapped. There's no way she can be here and not have something spark.
Chloe: Okay, well, just as an update...
Chloe: I don't know how I actually I thought that we could just be friends, because you're really hot when you're slightly conniving for all the right reasons.
Colin: I gotta get out of your hair.
Jill: I apologize for my harridan housemate. I'm so glad that she didn't send you running.
Colin: (Chuckles) Fat chance. Thank you again for a wonderful evening. Now I gotta shove off.
Jill: Mm. It was my pleasure.
Colin: Not entirely.
Jill: (Chuckles) Bye.
Colin: (Clears throat) Cheers.
Kay: Good riddance.
Jill: I thought you were shoving off. Oh, for God sake, Katherine. You shove off.
Kay: Now listen, Jill.
Jill: Go on.
Kay: I'm telling you.
Jill: No, no, no, no, no.
Kay: I will not allow that man to stay in this house one more moment.
Jill: Back up. Back out. There. Perfect. So perfect. Bye! Stay out!
Cane: Why are you doing this? You're gonna have to keep secrets from Tucker, from your fiancé.
Sofia: Because I've been there... in trouble. And somebody helped me out. So I'm just payin' it forward. And for now, that's all you need to know.
Cane: Since I came to the states, I screw up, someone helps me out-- Katherine, Jill, Lily, now you.
Sofia: Cane, there was nobody who cut you a break in Australia?
Cane: Yeah, there was one.
Samantha: You can't keep this up. You'll end up just like them.
Sofia: Oh. Where is she now?
Cane: She's gone. I tell you this. If she was in my life, none of this would happen, not at all.
Paul: Hi, how are you?
Paul: You didn't tell me you were coming to town. Is this the, uh, police drug ring case?
Chris: Oh, yeah. This case needs constant hand-holding. I assume you heard about Ronan.
Paul: No. What's going on?
Chris: I had to let him go. I-I thought Nina or Heather would have told you.
Paul: No, I was tied up. What the hell happened?
Chris: (Sighs) Ronan compromised a case.
Paul: Which case? Is--is--is this about Chance's death? Because I heard the recording of Chance's death. That's the day I tried to get a hold of you.
Chris: Yeah, I-- yeah, I-I can't discuss it. I...
Paul: Wow. Okay. Rough time for Ronan. Did Nina tell you that she was getting tested to see if she's a match?
Chris: (Sighs) She did, but the results, it... it wasn't good news.
Paul: So he's getting it from all sides, huh? I bet you Nina's devastated.
Chris: Yeah, and I made it worse by firing him. I... I just wish I had another option.
Nina: Let you go? (Scoffs) I gave birth to you and lost you, and I didn't let you go. You came here, and you didn't even want to know me, and I didn't let you go, and now you're sick, and you need help. You think I'm gonna let you go?
Ronan: I'm gettin' sicker. The transplant list isn't getting any shorter. I think that you are not able to let me go because... because I cost you Chance.
Nina: No. Chance was in a terrible situation, and you gave him a way out.
Ronan: And now you're never gonna see him again because of that.
Ronan: I never told you, but you're a great woman. You're a great mother. I'm sorry I cost you a son. I know that you worried about me my whole life, but I had incredible parents, really. And so much so, that I didn't even think about my birth parents for the longest time. But now I-- now that I've met you and I know you, I'm really honored to say that I have you in my life.
Nina: Thank you. What-- you're making this sound l-like good-bye. There's still a way to get you better, or at least keep you from getting sicker.
Ronan: Listen, I've looked at all the options. I know.
Nina: Not the one that can save you.
Ronan: (Sighs) All right, you need to understand that I'm not giving up, okay? But just like when Chance went to Iraq knowing that he might not come home, I know my odds here. Hey, we've all gotta die sometime, right?
Nina: No, don't be flip.
Ronan: All right, it's not flip. It's the truth.
Nina: But this... this tone and--and this-- this attitude--it's a lie. I know it is. There's a heart in there. I know that there is, and you should let yourself be afraid and angry that this is happening to you.
Ronan: And then what? Tell me what happens next. What, I-I pull Chance out and he can help me? I-I put him under the bus to save my own life, but its not--
Nina: You have been robbed. This is not fair! You should have decades to live your life, to do what you want to do, to be the man that you want to be. And you're up against something ugly and fierce, and you've gotta let yourself feel that fear and that anger. It's okay. You can feel it and still survive. I promise. I promise you. You will still survive, because I'm here, and I-- I can't help you. I can't save you. I can't cure you, but I can be here for you. Please let me be here for you.
Ronan: (Sighs shakily)
Jill: Now this is the summer campaign, right?
Kay: Mm-hmm, well, I'm gonna need to see the financials on that division.
Jill: Oh, no, no, no. This is too monochromatic. It's too boring.
Kay: Well, it's integrity that I'm concerned about.
Jill: It needs more life. It needs spark.
Kay: We're being pragmatic a-as we should be as--as responsible adults.
Jill: Do you mind? I am on a call here.
Kay: I'm not talking to myself here, Jill.
Jill: (Scoffs) I'll call you back.
Kay: Jill, what do you know about him? What does he really want from you?
Jill: (Laughs) I know what he wants, and he can have it. In fact, I thought he was dead-sexy before, but, Katherine, after this little run-in with you, I think he's freakin' Lancelot on a big, honkin' white steed.
Cane: Babies eat? Yeah? Sure. Put me on speaker. Hey, it's Daddy. Hey.
(Cell phone buzzes)
Cane: What are you guys doin'?
Sofia: Hey, thanks for callin', Warren. Yeah, I got the file.
Cane: You know how much your daddy loves you? I love you. Daddy loves you. Daddy, Daddy, Daddy loves you.
Blake: Your son tried to negotiate again, get us to cut our price.
Colin: He's feeling the pinch, which means he's getting closer to doing as I say. Increase the pressure. Demand payment. The tighter the vise, the sooner I get what I want.
Ronan: (Clears throat) (Sighs) (Sniffles) I'm sorry.
Nina: I'm not.
(Knock on door)
Ronan: (Sighs) (Sighs)
Heather: I'm--I'm sorry. I-I-I should have called.
Nina: No, no, it's okay. I should, um... you guys need to talk. I'll see you later, okay?
Heather: Are you okay?
Ronan: I'm fine. (Sniffles) (Sighs)
Heather: I-I came here to apologize again. I-I'm so sorry. I-I wasn't thinking. I-I--honestly, I-it never occurred to me that by forcing you to give me details about Chance that I would end up getting you fired. I...
Ronan: What do you think I'm gonna say right now? "Hey, no big deal"? "It's all forgiven"? "Let's go grab some Chinese food and have a romp in the snow"?
Heather: That was a good day. We could have more of those.
Ronan: That day was a stupid mistake on my part. I should have known better. I do now. It's time for you to go.
Heather: No, no, I won't. Not until you hear everything I came to say.
Arthur: Friend, the district attorney is just itching to open a letter that I left with him.
Jana: (Sighs) It almost makes me dizzy.
Arthur: So you would be foolish to fire that gun.
Jana: Did someone just--
Kevin: Hey, hey, the movie. The movie. The movie. This is dramatic stuff. You don't want to miss this.
Kevin: You remember this part or anything else?
Arthur: I'm aiming at you, Lover. Of course, killing you is killing myself.
Jana: (Groans) Oh, God. (Sighs)
Arthur: It's the same thing. But, you know, I'm pretty tired of both of us.
Kevin: What is it? What's wrong?
(Movie music playing)
Jana: God, I remember. Kevin, I remember. Kevin, it was here. Ryder and Daisy, they made me come here. And I thought that it was to be with you, but... (Sighs) They just did it so they could lock me up in this--this place, in this movie. Did you know?
Jana: Did you know that this movie was playing? Is that why you brought me here? Was this a trick?
Kevin: N-no. No, it wasn't a trick. I... I just--I thought-- (Sighs) Let's just go home.
Chris: Listen, I am so sorry about Ronan. If there had been any other way...
Nina: No, he's... he's handling things.
Paul: So Chris told me that you're-- you're not a donor match. I'm sorry.
Nina: Yeah, so am I, but I haven't given up.
Paul: Well, that's another reason that Ronan's lucky to have you.
(Cell phone buzzes)
Paul: Excuse me. Hello? Okay, I'll be right there. Hey, listen, um, I gotta go work.
Nina: Okay, go.
Paul: All right.
Nina: We'll catch up later.
Paul: You bet.
Chris: See you.
Paul: See you.
Chris: You and Ronan talked?
Nina: Yeah. I think I can convince him to let Chance be tested, and I know that it's up to you to give permission for us to talk to Chance. Just... you will, won't you? For Ronan's sake and for mine, please.
Ronan: What else is there to say, huh? You got me fired. Thanks. Let's go.
Heather: No. No. No, I-I-I needed to know what happened to Chance. I needed... (Sighs) I needed to know why the recording of his death didn't make any sense, so I pushed too hard... again. (Sighs) Pushing is what got me into this case, and pushing is what got me stuck in a car with a bomb under my seat. (Sighs) That bomb. I-I really thought that that was gonna be my last moment on this earth. I prayed. And Chance was right next to me telling me that everything was gonna be okay, but I didn't believe him. (Sighs) But then he saved me. And... (Sighs) Everything changed for me in that moment with the case and with... with Chance. It--it all happened so slowly, and s-- and so fast at the same time. I... I fell in love with him. And... and then... (Sighs) With one gunshot, he was just gone.
Ronan: What does this have to do with me?
Heather: After Chance, all I focused on was the case and becoming the D.A. and--and... (Sighs) All of that fell apart for me, too. It was my fault. I-I know that. But... (Sighs) It was still awful, and--and lonely and confusing, and... (Sighs) And then... there was you. (Sighs) And y--and... (Sighs) You can pretend that us being together was a mistake, but... it was, um, it was good. And us being together more... it could be really great. I-I-I never meant to cause you any harm. I really didn't. I-I-I listened to the recording from Chance's wire, and I just had to know the truth.
Ronan: You just had to push is what you had to do.
Heather: Yes, and I'm sorry. (Sighs) You once dared me to tell you my secrets. (Sighs) Well... here goes. I feel more naked right now than I did when we made love. I wanted to save you from your illness, and all I've done is get you fired. I-I wanted to be strong and brave for you. And I... I hate the fact that you know that I'm such a mess inside. You have your walls. (Sighs) So do I. But they're gone now, because I-I've... I've lost too much, and I-I can't lose you, too, not from my life, not from this world. Please tell me that I haven't. Please tell me that you forgive me for screwing things up so terribly. Just please tell me that... that I haven't lost you, too.
Heather: Okay, fine. If you--if you-- if you can't forgive me, then just say something. Say something!
Kay: So I confronted him about the tax conviction, and... (Chuckles) Oh, boy, oh, boy.
Paul: How did he react?
Kay: As if going to prison was like any businessman going to a business meeting.
Jill: Oh, my God. You crazy witch.
Kay: Oh, Jill.
Jill: You hired a P.I. to dig up the dirt on Colin?
Jill: How jealous can you be?
Paul: Jill, Katherine's... (Stammers) Got a reason to be concerned. The man's dangerous. I did some more digging.
Jill: Oh, really, Paul? Okay, show me the proof. You can't, can you, Paul? 'Cause there is no proof. And you know what? Even if there was, I wouldn't care, 'cause I like him, okay? I like him better right now than I did last night, and trust me, I liked him plenty last night.
Jill: So, Katherine, as long as Colin's in town, I will continue to see him.
Kay: Well, then you better prepare to say your good-byes. Say good-bye, because I'm telling you right now, I'm going to see that that thug is out of Genoa City immediately.
Sofia: I have got to head back to the office and buy us some more time.
Sofia: We've gotta get these guys paid off, and then, Baby, you are gonna owe me the biggest martini ever... (Chuckles) Huge.
Cane: Thank you so much. Thank you.
Cane: All right.
Sofia: Take care of yourself.
Cane: (Sighs heavily)
Colin: (Clears throat)
Cane: So, uh, you're following me, huh?
Colin: Well, I decided to drop by, give you the good news in person. Now as you're so reluctant to return to Australia, I've decided to give you my blessing, and allow you to live here in Genoa City.
Cane: So I get your blessing? So... (Scoffs) You're gonna allow me to?
Cane: Thank you. That's really generous of you.
Colin: You picked a good town, my boy. I mean, Jill, your mom, lovely lady. Your wife Lily, absolute-- oh, by the way, did she tell you about our visit? (Sighs) I got to sit and actually hold one of my grandchildren. My God, what a magical feeling. You know what? I've only been in this country, oh, a few weeks. Already, it starts to feel just like home.
Chloe: I don't know how much she remembers, but she remembers something. I just don't know how much. So I don't know if it's just the kidnapping and the cage, or if she remembers the whole thing with Ryder, Kevin and her breaking up... I don't know.
Esther: I'm sure she wants to remember just as much as you want her to.
Chloe: I doubt that. I just can't sneak around anymore, Mom. It's been going on since New Year’s Eve.
Esther: I can pack a picnic, and the two of you can take a nice, long drive during Kevin's work hours, and you can talk and laugh, and Jana would never know.
Chloe: That's odd. That was actually very rational and kind of a cute idea.
Esther: I've always been this way, Chloe. You're just starting to notice.
Chloe: Okay, okay. So then you help me turn this G-rated picnic idea into a, I don't know, wild, sexy, kind of romantic tryst of a night, and not-- not at some kitschy B and B, okay? And then Kevin and I can finally be together. Hmm.
Jana: (Sighs) I know there was a cage. And there was someone screaming. (Sighs) It was me. I was screaming for you. (Scoffs) Screaming for anyone to come and... (Sniffles) Save me. (Sighs) I was so afraid that you thought maybe I'd left you.
Kevin: No. No, I-I-I knew the truth.
Jana: (Sighs) Kev, you are my life. (Sniffles) God, I love you so much. I promise, I will never leave you again.
Kevin: It's okay.
Jana: (Sniffles) (Sobs)
Kevin: It's--it's--its okay. Nobody can hurt you now, all right?
Jana: God, Kevin, please make love to me. (Sighs) I need to know that you love me, and I need you to know that I-- I love you, too. Please, just tell me the nightmare's over. Just... (Sighs) Take me to our bed. Please. (Sighs) Please. (Sighs)
Nina: Ronan needs more time, and maybe Chance is the answer, and maybe he's not. But he needs to know what's going on with his brother. It can't end like this, Cricket, not for the child that we've searched all these years for.
Chris: You're relentless.
Nina: Is that a yes? You'll let us talk to Chance?
Chris: Yeah. But only if Ronan signs off on it.
Ronan: (Grunts) No, don't.
Heather: No, no, no. (Gasps)
Ronan: Just go. I need you to go.
Heather: No, you don't want me to.
Ronan: I need you to go. That's it. We're done. Go, okay?
Heather: Why? Because I got you fired, or because of something else?
Ronan: What's wr--
Ronan: What is wrong with you, huh? I mean, do you always stick around when guys are done with you, huh?
Ronan: Maybe that's why it was so easy for Adam to con you. Or maybe that's why Chance didn't leave a forwarding address. What are you doing? You came. You tried. You cried. It didn't work out for you, okay? So tough luck. (Sighs) What else do you need me to say, Heather? We are done. That's it. Go! (Sighs) Go. (Sighs)
Ronan: (Breathing rapidly)
Ronan: (Sighs) (Exhales) (Sighs) (Sniffles) (Sighs) Yeah, this is Malloy. I need you to put my bill together. No, no, I'm leaving. I'm not staying in Genoa City. I'm leaving for good. (Sighs)
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Lily: Well, I would have loved to know more about Cane.
Blake: I'm sure he's told you more than I could.
Adam: I'm not gonna stand here while this man accuses you of Skye's murder. That's what you're doing, right?
Sharon: Is that what you think?
Cane: I told you to stay away from my wife!
Lily: What wrong with you?
