Episode # 9311 ~ Adam's Actions May Redeem Him

Daniel: You're telling me the third man in the alley was a woman?

Michael: Well, according to the D.N.A. on that ski mask, "He" is a "she."

Amber: Uh, so what does this mean for Daniel?

Michael: Well, not yet.

Daniel: D.N.A.'s not good enough for them?

Amber: I mean, what about the other stuff that they found in the gym bag? I mean, the-- the map of the crime scene, the photo of the painting?

Daniel: What about the cell phone with the message from Deacon? What does the D.A. need?

Michael: All right. All right. Okay, you know what? They're keeping their options open. They need time to pursue this new lead.

Daniel: And what, if it doesn't pan out, then they come back to me?

Amber: I mean, isn't there something else that we can do?

Michael: You know what I'm gonna tell you, Amber, don't you?

Amber: Uh, yeah. Yeah, by-- by heart. By heart, yes-- "Don't run off by myself and do something stupid."

Michael: Yeah, that goes for you, too.

Daniel: I gotta tell you, Michael, it doesn't seem all that productive sitting around on our butts doing nothing.

Michael: Who says we're doing nothing? Let's pay a visit to your little friend Ryder, see what he knows about this woman.

Daniel: (Scoffs) Yeah, that's if we can get him to talk.

Kevin: Another long day. (Sighs) Hi.

Jana: Well, yeah. My God, I'll say. Ever since that Tucker McCall came on board at Chancellor, I don't see my dear husband anymore.

Kevin: Yeah, I know. They tripled my workload. Now if they'll just triple my salary...

Jana: As long as you're happy, my love.

Kevin: Well, I've got two great jobs, the greatest wife in the world...

Jana: Mm.

Kevin: My sanity.

Jana: Mm.

Kevin: What's not to be happy about?

Jana: Um, fancy an Americano?

Kevin: Yeah, that would be great.

Jana: Yeah?

Kevin: Thanks.

Jana: Okay.

Ryder: Hey, so I, uh, I hear you're working with Tucker McCall. That's awesome.

Kevin: Yeah.

Ryder: What's-- what's he like?

Kevin: Well, not your typical suit.

Ryder: I bet he's a cool boss, though, huh? What--what are you doing for him?

Kevin: Uh, I can't really talk about it.

Ryder: I guess I'd better get back to work.

Kevin: Well, that was awkward. Thank you.

Jana: Yeah, I know. He's been like that since Christmas, hasn't he?

Kevin: Well, he's probably still pissed that I blew him off that day.

Jana: Well, I mean, we can't exactly invite him over to Michael and Lauren's.

Kevin: Right. "Invite" and "Restraining order" don't really go in the same sentence.

Jana: (Sighs) I feel like I'm constantly-- I feel like I'm walking on eggshells any time I'm around him, and I can't even escape it at home.

Kevin: Well, I can't kick him out, Jana. He's got nowhere to go.

Jana: Well, now hang on. He's been working here a while now. I'm sure he's got enough money saved up to get his own place. Maybe you can help him find something.

Kevin: (Sighs) All right, I'll talk to him when we get home.

Ryder: Where have you been?

Daisy: At the boutique working.

Ryder: Well, I've been trying to get a hold of you.

Daisy: I couldn't exactly answer your phone call in front of Lauren now, could I? What's up?

Ryder: I got another text from Mom.

Daisy: Did she say where she was?

Ryder: No. But I think she's hiding somewhere in Genoa City. I hate to think what she's planning next.

Ashley: Okay, well, I'm sorry. It was an interesting evening though, wasn't it?

Sharon: Yeah.

Adam: Interesting, but next time, we'll find an out-of- the-way place to go eat.

Sharon: Well, with our luck, I'm sure that Nick and Jack--

Ashley: What's that s-- you guys, do you smell that? What is that? (Gasps)

Sharon: Oh, my God, smoke. The house is on fire.

Adam: Wait, wait, Sharon. Sharon, wait. Don't go in there.

Sharon: Wait, Noah's car is in the driveway. He's in there.

Adam: No! Hey!

Nick: Last bite.

Phyllis: Ooh, you would give me the last bite of your chili dog?

Nick: Oh, yeah. Chili dogs, wine and you.

Phyllis: Mm, it's yours.

Nick: Mm, all right. Well, I'm gonna kiss you first.

(Cell phone rings)

Phyllis: (Gasps) Oh, shoot. Hey, Lauren, make it quick, 'cause my husband was about to kiss me. (Chuckles)

Nick: (Growls)

Phyllis: I know. What? Ohh. No, I can't come by. No. Well, you want-- you want me to go now?

Nick: (Whispering) Wrap it up. Wrap it up. Wrap it up.

(Cell phone rings)

Phyllis: Yeah.

Nick: (Normal voice) Nick Newman.

Phyllis: No, because I'm spending a quiet evening alone with my husband.

Nick: What time was, uh, yeah, Adam was supposed to meet with Demitri in the morning.

Phyllis: Oh, you know, "Quiet," as in, you know, quiet, you know?

Nick: So what time is his flight to Europe then?

Phyllis: Yes. (Laughs) Oh, wait a second. I think my--my plans are gonna change.

Nick: Well, where the hell is Adam now? All right. Fine, uh, I will, uh, I'll take the meeting.

Phyllis: Okay, um, yep. I'm open. Definitely.

Nick: (Sighs) Yeah, I'm on my way. Bye.

Phyllis: Hang on.

Nick: Sorry, I-it's urgent. I gotta take this meeting.

Phyllis: Uh, Demitri?

Nick: Yeah, Adam was supposed to meet with him in the morning, but now Demitri has to fly back to Europe tonight.

Phyllis: Oh, okay. Adam can't take the meeting?

Nick: Nobody can get a hold of him.

Phyllis: All right. Well, so, I'm free. Are you there? Okay. I'm free. Yeah, I'll come by. Your--the new office, right? Okay, I'll come by right now. I'll see if, um, Abby can--can baby-sit. All right, bye. (Sighs)

Nick: You know, Adam wants all of the glory, none of the responsibility. (Scoffs) When's he gonna figure out this is not some nine-to-five job? I mean, what the hell is Adam doing right now that's so damn important?

Adam: Noah!

Ashley: I want to report a fire. The address is 1185 Cottage Grove Road. We think somebody might be in there. You have to hurry, please.

Sharon: No, it's too smoky.

Adam: I have every corner memorized in this house. I can navigate. You can't.

Sharon: All right, I'm gonna go with you. Noah!

Adam: Sharon, you stay here.

Ashley: Get back here!

Kevin: I knew you'd get him off.

Michael: It's not over yet.

Amber: Yeah, Daniel's still a "Person of interest."

Daniel: What, you thought Heather was gonna let this go?

Michael: Well, she'll have to, eventually. It's like you said-- there is a preponderance of evidence in that gym bag pointing to another suspect.

Kevin: Any clues to his identity?

Amber: Her identity.

Jana: Ooh, there's a thought.

Michael: No, it's not just a thought. Whoever wore that ski mask was female.

Kevin: What?

Daniel: Yeah, that didn't even occur to us.

Jana: Well, do they know who she is?

Daniel: (Laughs) I wish, Jana.

Michael: I'm thinking Ryder might.

Amber: That's why we're here. We wanted to question him again.

Jana: What about that picture of him with that girl when he's running the red light?

Daniel: No, that photo was his alibi. She couldn't have been in the car with him and at the crime scene.

Jana: You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Ryder was hiding something.

Kevin: Agreed.

Daniel: Well, you're not defending him.

Kevin: Well, how can I after the way he's let us all down? If he knows anything about this woman, then I want to know.

Michael: Let's see how he reacts to the news, shall we?

Amber: Mm. Oh, Jana, I just, uh...

Jana: Yeah?

Amber: Hold on for a second. I wanted to ask you something, and I didn't want Daniel to hear.

Jana: Oh, yes. Of course. Okay. Now look, the first year of marriage can be really tough. And I know that you and Daniel have been under a lot of pressure lately, so I just--

Amber: Uh, no, no. Uh, it's--it's not that. Uh, I'm thinking about trying to find my son. What do you think? Do you th-- you think I should do it?

Michael: You've said you have no clue who was in the alley the night of the murder.

Ryder: I don't.

Michael: But now we know it was a woman.

Ryder: A woman? Is that right?

Kevin: Did Deacon ever mention her?

Michael: Maybe you've seen him with her?

Daniel: Come on, Ryder, this is your chance to make up for the grand jury fiasco.

Kevin: You keep saying how our relationship is important to you.

Ryder: It is.

Kevin: Well, then prove it. Do the right thing, and tell Michael what you know.

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh. This is great, Lauren.

Lauren: Thank you.

Phyllis: (Chuckles) No wonder you never want to leave.

Lauren: (Chuckles) Well, you're right. I mean, if Michael and Fen weren't--weren't at home, I-I don't think I would go home.

Phyllis: Yeah, right?

Lauren: (Chuckles) Yeah.

Phyllis: Oh, just stay here. And this wallpaper-- that is fantastic. Did you pick this out?

Lauren: Of course I picked it out. I mean, I looked through about 300 samples, but...

Phyllis: Of course. Right,

Lauren: I'm glad you like it.

Phyllis: I love it. It's very warm. We should do Summer's room in that maybe.

Lauren: In that?

Phyllis: Yeah.

Lauren: Really? Oh, well, um, I don't remember the name of it, but I'll get it for you, okay?

Phyllis: Ooh, look at this. Look at me.

Lauren: Oh, yes.

Phyllis: Oh, this is nice!

Lauren: Is that the most fantastic chair ever?

Phyllis: Oh, it's very comfy.

Lauren: Ever? You need one of these. I'm gonna e-mail you the company, and you're gonna get one, and you use my name, you get a discount.

Phyllis: Oh, great. I'll use your name. So any more, um, rat incidents?

Lauren: Funny you should mention that. One of my vendors sent me a gift today, and, um... (Sighs) I was afraid to open it.

Phyllis: Oh. And?

Lauren: And...

Phyllis: Oh, hello. That's a gorgeous purse.

Lauren: Yeah, and it's yours.

Phyllis: Oh, it is?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Why? 'Cause I'm a good friend?

Lauren: You are. You're a great friend.

Phyllis: (Laughs) Oh, this is great. (Sighs) Listen, do you-- do you think Ryder is behind that "Willard" thing?

Lauren: Well, who else?

(Cell phone rings)

Phyllis: (Sighs) Its Daniel. Hey, Daniel. No, tell you-- tell me you found the murderer, and then-- and? Did he say anything? No, you--you just keep at it. Are you at Crimson Lights? O-okay, I'm on my way. (Sighs) This is crazy. They did a D.N.A. test on the gym bag. Elkins' murderer is a woman.

Lauren: I-- wow.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Lauren: I didn't expect that.

Phyllis: Yeah, I know. Daniel and Michael are confronting Ryder.

Lauren: Oh, now? I-I'm coming with you.

Phyllis: Yeah, um, uh, yeah, let's go. This is just very odd. That--you know, I-it's rare that a cold-blooded murderer would be a woman.

Lauren: Yeah, well, unless you're Sheila.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, of course, but Sheila is dead. We saw her die.

Lauren: Except that I still have nightmares about her.

Phyllis: Well, you shouldn't have nightmares. They did an autopsy. She's dead. She's gone.

Lauren: She said that, "You'll never get rid of me," as she died.

Phyllis: I know she did. I remember. I remember. But then what does that mean? What, that--that I'm Sheila? I mean, that's what that would mean. I'm not Phyllis. I haven't been Phyllis. S-so for the last two years, we've--we've been friends and going through so many ups and downs and joys and--and problems with our family, and it meant nothing? I'm just sitting here lying in wait? Lauren, she's dead. "D-e-a-d." She's gone. I really want you to say it. I really want you to say it, please?

Lauren: (Sighs) Sheila is dead. (Sighs)

Phyllis: Nothing like that would ever happen in a million years. You know that.

Lauren: Consider it dropped, okay?

Phyllis: Okay.

Lauren: (Sighs)

Nick: All right, if it's not in his desk, then try his files. Thank you very much. Uh, if they're not there, I'll just wing it. (Sighs)

Nick: Adam, its Nick. I'm in the office, covering your ass. I cannot find your files on Demitri's company. So whatever it is you're doing, I hope it's worth it.

Ashley: Yes, please tell them to hurry. Please.

Sharon: Noah! Adam!

Ashley: Sharon, the fire department's on their way.

Sharon: Oh, my gosh, I think I should go in there.

Ashley: No, you're not gonna go in there!

Sharon: What if they're both passed out from smoke?

Ashley: They'll be here any second. Then you'll pass out, too. You're not going in there, Sharon! You're not.

Sharon: God, Noah! Adam! Answer me if you can hear me!

Ashley: Adam!

Sharon: Oh, God, I can't lose my son. I can't lose my son.

Ashley: You're not gonna lose him. Sharon, you're not gonna lose him. Help's on the way.

Adam: (Coughs) Just follow me, Noah.

Noah: (Coughing)

Adam: You got it.

Sharon: Noah, oh, my God.

Adam: I got you. I got you, Honey.

Sharon: Are you okay? Are you okay?

Noah: Eden! Eden! Help her!

Adam: She's unconscious.

Sharon: Adam, thank you.

Noah: (Coughs)

Sharon: Adam, what are you doing? Where are you--what are you doing? Don't go back there!

Kevin: Um, I think he's in the back.

Lauren: Hi.

Michael: I thought you were working at the boutique tonight.

Lauren: Yeah, well, Phyllis was at the store with me when Daniel called.

Phyllis: What does he know about the woman in the ski mask?

Michael: Well, if he knows something, he won't admit it.

Phyllis: Um, Ryder, can you please come here?

Ryder: The restraining order?

Michael: This is your place of business. It does not apply.

Ryder: You guys bring a rope?

Daniel: Might not have been such a bad idea.

Phyllis: What do you know about the woman in the alley?

Ryder: I already told you guys--nothing.

Lauren: I don't believe you.

Daniel: None of us believe you.

Michael: Look, the authorities are all over the evidence from the gym bag. They have her D.N.A. It'll all come out sooner or later.

Ryder: I can't help you.

Phyllis: Um, Ryder, you're aware that your friend Deacon is in jail? You know how he got there. Because he messed with my family. So you'd better come clean, or else you're gonna share a cell with him.

Ryder: There is nothing to say.

Kevin: (Sighs) Why don't you just tell the truth?

Daniel: I don't think he's capable of telling the truth.

Michael: Whoever you're protecting, ask yourself, "Is it worth it?"

Ryder: Look, I am a victim, the same as Daniel.

Daniel: (Chuckles) Such a waste of time.

Kevin: (Scoffs) You came to me saying that you wanted to turn your life around. I thought you meant that.

Ryder: I do.

Kevin: (Scoffs) I've done everything that I can to help you, so you either come clean, or I need you to take your things and just get the hell out of here. (Sighs)

Ryder: Look, I-I-I-I rememb-- Deacon said something about-- about a woman.

Amber: When Deacon told me he still considers me his mother, I just-- I never stopped loving that little boy, and the thought of him with my mother, it's--

Jana: Why, wha--what-- what's wrong with your mum?

Amber: Imagine Gloria, only tackier.

Jana: (Inhales sharply) Ew. God, is that even possible? (Laughs)

Amber: You know, I know-- I know deep down somewhere, she cares about me, but with her, it's all about the money. I mean, it always has been. It's not that she has any, but, I mean, she's shallow, she's out there, she's kinda slutty-- I mean, make that super slutty. And I'm not thrilled about being in touch with her again.

Daniel: Yeah, we didn't even call this Tawny when we got married.

Amber: I know. I know. I haven't talked to her in years.

Jana: Do you know where she is?

Amber: Well, I'm sure Furnace Creek is still her home base, but she could be anywhere by now.

Daniel: Baby, we don't even know if Deacon's on the level.

Amber: (Sighs)

Daniel: I mean, he might have just told you that-- that the kid was with this-- with your mom just to throw you off the track.

Amber: I know. I know. But I-I have to find out. I mean, if I don't, I'm never gonna forgive myself.

Noah: Eden! Eden, wake up! Come on!

Ashley: Eden. Eden.

Sharon: Adam! If you don't come out soon, I'm coming in there.

(Sirens wail)

Noah: I don't think she's breathing. Come on.

Ashley: Okay, move back. Move back. Okay.

Noah: You gotta save her, Ashley.

Ashley: I will. Stay there. One, two, three, four, five. (Grunts) One, two, three, four, five.

Noah: Breathe! Breathe! Breathe! Breathe! Breathe! Yes!

Eden: (Coughing, gasping)

Ashley: Okay, just one more time. Good girl. Good, Eden. That's right. Get her up. Get her up.

Noah: It's okay. It's okay. Calm down.

Ashley: Lift her up a little bit, Noah. Okay.

(Fisher whines)

Sharon: Oh, Fisher! Fisher!

Adam: He's okay.

Sharon: Oh! Oh, my God.

Adam: (Groans) Good boy. Good boy. It's all right.

Ashley: You'll be okay.

Noah: It's all right.

Sharon: Adam, thank you.

Adam: It's okay. It's all right, Buddy.

(Sirens wail)

Sharon: Oh, Fisher, I'm so glad you're okay. (Sighs)

Adam: He was huddled in the corner in the-- the--the kitchen.

Sharon: I can't believe you went back in to get him.

Ashley: Oh, great. These two right here. They need to be looked at.

Sharon: Oh, so does my husband.

Adam: No, no, no. Just look at the kids. I'll be all right.

Ashley: Thank you so much.

Eden: (Hoarsely) It's my throat.

Noah: I thought I was gonna lose you.

Adam: Put this on you.

Ashley: Oh, thank you. (Shivering) You know what? That was so amazing, Adam. I mean, not everybody would run back into a burning house.

Adam: (Sighs)

Noah: Eden was passed out when Adam found us. We wouldn't have made it out without him.

Adam: Don't worry about it. Everyone's okay now, all right? That's all that matters. They're safe.

Sharon: Thanks to you.

Kevin: Well, did you ever see this woman?

Ryder: No.

Michael: Well, was she his boss, or did she work for him?

Ryder: I-I don't know. L-- I don't think she had anything to do with the shooting in the alley.

Phyllis: Oh, no, no, no. No, you're--you're not gonna backtrack here. My son's future depends on this.

Kevin: Look, I can't keep shielding you from everybody. Do you want to be part of this family, or not?

Ryder: Yes.

Kevin: Then tell us.

Ryder: All I remember is that once Deacon said he was having a mate--a meeting with a lady.

Michael: He never mentioned her name?

Ryder: No.

Lauren: And you never asked?

Ryder: Once. I asked who she was, and he nearly bit my head off.

Michael: Was he being protective of her?

Ryder: I got the sense he was protecting himself.

Kevin: Well, she was probably the one giving the orders.

Ryder: Look, as far as I know, Deacon was the one who was giving orders.

Phyllis: Okay, um, he is hiding something.

Michael: All right, we've been very patient with you, but enough is enough.

Kevin: I've done everything that I could do to help you because you're family.

Ryder: I know, Kevin. I appreciate it. I really do.

Kevin: You've had a million chances to step up. And all you have done is continually made a fool of me.

Ryder: I didn't mean to.

Kevin: Well, I'm done. You know what? I'm done. Just pack your things. Get the hell out of here. I don't want you working here. I don't want you living with us. We may be blood, but you're not family.

Daniel: Guess that kid really got to you.

Amber: He did. (Sighs)

Daniel: Look, Deacon said tracking him down could be trouble.

Amber: No one has to know we're looking for him.

Daniel: What happens when you find him?

Amber: (Sighs) I just want to make sure he's happy and that my mom's taking good care of him.

Daniel: And if she's not? What then?

Amber: Yeah, I'm--I'm not saying that we're just gonna bring him home with us. We'll-- we'll figure something out.

Daniel: (Scoffs) You're damn right we're not bringing this kid home with us. We're supposed to be on our honeymoon right now.

Amber: (Sighs) Look, as soon as I find out if "Little D." Is okay, then I will let it go. Imagine if Summer were out there somewhere, wondering if she would ever see you again. If you didn't know she was being taken good care of, I mean, could you just forget about that?

Daniel: This is really your argument for me? You're talking about my sister, my blood, my family.

Amber: Please, just help me find Deacon's son.

Phyllis: Uh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Are you kidding me? That's the last thing he needs. What's in your mind, wanting to find Deacon's son? I mean, really?

Amber: I helped raise that little boy.

Phyllis: I don't understand what I'm hearing here. Yeah, I know he has a kid stashed away. I understand that. Why do you want to stir this up?

Amber: (Sighs) Little D. and I, we have a connection.

Phyllis: You have a connection? I've known you for years. You've never mentioned this kid.

Amber: It doesn't mean that I haven't thought about him.

Phyllis: I got thoughts all the time, Amber. I got thoughts comin' out of my ears I don't act on. But it d-- (Scoffs) it's doesn't mean I'm-- I'm--I'm gonna--why do you want to be connected to this guy?

Amber: You have no idea what I think or how I feel, so I think you should just butt out of it!

Phyllis: All right, you-- you hear this, right? You hear how she's speaking.

Daniel: I hear it. I hear it, I hear it.

Phyllis: Okay. Um, let me just tell you something-- handle your wife. Tell her to leave this alone.

Daniel: (Chuckles)

Amber: I am the only mother that little boy knows. I can't believe you, of all people, feel this way. You were separated from Daniel for years.

Phyllis: Okay, please don't go there. That is different. I am Daniel's mother. He is my son. You're not the kid's mother, Amber. I don't understand this connection here. Really, you gotta leave this alone. You don't want to get involved with this. Please.

Daniel: I--do you think I don't know that? It's maybe a little hard for you to accept, though, but I am an adult, and I do have to start making my own decisions at some point.

Phyllis: I do. I do. I understand that. But just because you're an adult and you're married doesn't mean I'm gonna stop caring about you. You're not gonna find Deacon's son. You're not gonna do it. You're not gonna put your life in jeopardy like this.

Jana: Look, I know what that took for you to cut Ryder off like that.

Kevin: It's about time, right?

Lauren: I'm glad you finally see him for what he really is.

Kevin: At least I still have one brother I can depend on.

Michael: Well, you know I'd do anything I can for you.

Kevin: I know that. You've proven it again and again. And if I don't say it enough, well, uh, I, you know...

Michael: Yeah, me, too.

Ryder: You've given me more chances than I deserve. I have no right to ask for another.

Kevin: Then don't.

Ryder: You know, when I was a kid, I-I used to walk home from school, and I'd pass by all these houses, and I'd look in the windows trying to imagine what-- what other people's lives were like. And sometimes I'd just stop there for... (Chuckles) Hours, you know? Watching little kids playing, mom and dad coming home from work, sitting around the table, laughing. I'd close my eyes, and I'd--I'd hope that when I opened them, that maybe I'd-- I'd be one of those kids at the table. You made me feel like I was, Kevin. You were the first person to ever show me what family was all about. I-I don't want to lose that.

Kevin: Well, you already have. But that was your choice, not mine.

Ryder: Okay.

Kevin: (Sighs)

Nick: Yeah, we'll issue a press release in the morning on the merger. I will e-mail you all the information. No, you do not have to run this by Adam.

(Cell phone rings)

Nick: You know what? That's my other phone. I gotta go. E-mail me everything you've written before it goes out. Bye. Nick Newman.

Sharon: It's Sharon. There was a fire at the house.

Nick: What? Are you okay?

Sharon: I'm fine. Noah and Eden inhaled a lot of smoke.

Nick: Where are you?

Sharon: I'm still at the house, but we're headed to memorial. The paramedics want to check them out.

Nick: Okay, I'll meet you there.

Sharon: Do you want me to call Michael's number?

Eden: (Hoarsely) I'll call him.

Sharon: Okay, well, tell him to meet us at the hospital.

Eden: I-I don't need to go to the hospital. (Coughs)

Ashley: You absolutely have to go to the hospital, Honey. You gotta have your lungs checked out, definitely.

Noah: (Coughs)

Eden: (Coughs)

Noah: Okay, come on.

Eden: (Coughs)

Noah: Mom.

Sharon: (Sighs) Thank God you're okay.

Adam: Come here, boy.

Sharon: I'll be right there.

Adam: Okay, it's all right.

Sharon: I'm gonna ride with the kids.

Adam: Okay, Ashley and I will take the dog to the vet. We'll meet you there, all right? Come here.

Sharon: If you hadn't gone back in there--

Adam: Hey, hey, it's all right. Everyone's okay. Okay. Well see you there.

Sharon: See you soon.

Adam: Come here, boy. Hey. You all right?

Ashley: Oh, wow. You know what?

Adam: Scary.

Ashley: You were very brave. You really were. You didn't even hesitate.

Adam: No, no, I was just in the moment, and I wasn't thinking about it. I just hope Abby has good insurance.

Ashley: Oh, yeah, well, you're not gonna be able to move back in there for months, believe me.

Adam: Yeah, we have to get all new furniture, everything.

Ashley: I think what you need to do is move back into the ranch.

Adam: (Sighs) Ashley, I know, you already offered.

Ashley: Adam, come on. It's the perfect solution, Adam. Really. Think about it.

Adam: (Stammers) Ashley, the three of us underfoot and Fisher? Come on.

Ashley: Yeah, and there's plenty of room. There really is. You're not putting me out, if that's what you're thinking.

Adam: That's very generous of you, Ashley.

Ashley: No, it's not. It really isn't. It's actually really selfish of me, because I love having you around. And you know what? Noah's room is exactly the same way as the day he left. Come on.

Adam: I just want Sharon to be comfortable.

Ashley: I do, too. You guys are gonna have all the privacy you--you possibly could want. Come on, are you gonna tell me you don't want to be back at the ranch? You can play with little Faith all the time, see her all the time.

Adam: (Sighs)

Daisy: You almost spilled everything to them. If I hadn't been there--

Ryder: I'm tired of lying to Kevin and his family. They're decent people.

Daisy: "Decent"? Every one of them has a rap sheet.

Ryder: I don't care. They would have welcomed me if I just--if I just told the truth.

Daisy: Oh, get over yourself.

Ryder: Kevin took me in. He gave me a job. He gave me a place to live.

Daisy: Haven't I taken care of you all these years? I sure didn't appreciate that dig about Kevin being the first one to teach you the true meaning of family. What the hell, Ryder?

Kevin: I disappointed him.

Daisy: (Scoffs) You were supposed to. That's the plan.

Ryder: I am sick of the plan. Doesn't it bother you? He's your brother, too.

Daisy: We're all the family we need.

Ryder: (Scoffs)

Daisy: And if you don't start pulling it together and playing by the rules, you're gonna lose me, too. And you know you don't want to get on my bad side.

Daniel: Hey. Sorry about Ryder.

Kevin: You know, I'm the one who should be apologizing-- keeping him around as long as I did. And you warned me. Everybody did.

Daniel: Yeah, but if I had a long-lost brother, I probably would have done the same thing.

Kevin: (Sighs) Thanks for being so understanding.

Daniel: Just so long as they don't throw me back in jail, huh? (Chuckles)

Kevin: They're not going to. You had nothing to do with Elkins' murder.

Daniel: Well, it doesn't seem to bother Heather. You know, you're lucky you've got Michael.

Kevin: Yeah, one good brother.

Daniel: You're the closest thing to a brother that I've got.

Kevin: Well, what about Noah?

Daniel: Yeah, but you know Noah. He's--he's just a kid, man.

Kevin: Yeah.

Daniel: He's--he's just, uh, it's not the same, you know?

Kevin: (Chuckles) Yeah, I know.

Jana: Hey.

Amber: Hey. (Sighs)

Jana: So what did Daniel say about finding Little D.?

Amber: You know, why does he get to make all the decisions? It's my life.

Jana: Amber, it's your life together.

Amber: Oh, do you run everything by Kevin first?

Jana: Well, yeah, pretty much. If it's important, I do.

Amber: Part of me just wants to go out and find diddle-- Little D., like, no matter what Daniel says.

Jana: Okay, how would you feel if your husband did that to you?

Amber: I know. I know. I know.

Jana: Mm-hmm.

Amber: I promised Daniel I wouldn't go run off and do anything crazy by myself anymore.

Jana: Mm. And?

Amber: And I'm going to keep my promise.

Jana: Right. Okay. Well, that is very... mature of you.

Amber: I just hope Daniel decides to do things my way.

Phyllis: Who do you think Ryder is covering for?

Lauren: This mystery woman?

Phyllis: Why?

Michael: Someone went through great lengths to set Daniel up for murder. The question is, whether Deacon was calling the shots or someone else.

(Cell phone rings)

Michael: Mm. Excuse me.

(Cell phone rings)

Michael: Hello? Hi, Sharon.

Phyllis: Oh, it's my husband.

Lauren: Mm.

Michael: No.

Phyllis: Hey, baby.

Michael: Eden hasn't called. Why? What, is she okay?

Phyllis: Oh, my God.

Lauren: What happened?

Michael: No, all--all right. We're on our way.

Phyllis: Oh, uh, we--yeah. No, I'll be right there. I'll be right there, Babe. Oh, my gosh.

Michael: There was a fire at Sharon's house. The kids were inside.

Lauren: My God, are they okay?

Phyllis: Yeah, the EMTs took 'em to Memorial-- smoke inhalation.

Lauren: Can't our families...

Michael: Here.

Lauren: Just get a break? Man, I don't even know what's coming next.

Michael: I'll get the chair.

Lauren: Just get the chair. All right, thanks.

Michael: Don't move.

Jana: There you go.

Kevin: Thank you.

Jana: Mm-hmm.

Kevin: (Sighs) I tried, you know?

Jana: (Sighs)

Kevin: I really tried to help Ryder. I guess I just couldn't get through to him.

Jana: Well, look, the important thing is that you did everything possible.

Kevin: I just wanted to make a difference in his life, you know? The way Michael did for me. Oh, well. (Sighs) Just another thing on my long list of failures.

Jana: No, it's not. You cannot help someone who doesn't want to change, Kev. Michael helped you because you were willing to change your life. And look at you now. (Laughs)

Kevin: (Chuckles)

Jana: What an incredible man you are. And as sad as it is, Ryder you-- he does not have your strength of character, and, God, that is not your fault.

Kevin: (Chuckles) (Sighs) You always know exactly what to say to me.

Jana: Mm, yes, it's true. Come here.

Kevin: Mm. I love you.

Jana: I love you.

Kevin: Man, I'm beat. I've got this crazy day at work tomorrow. Tucker's got me modifying all the software.

Jana: God, you know what? You need to just go home. You need to relax, okay? And you're gonna love this-- your new car magazine came in the mail.

Kevin: Ooh.

Jana: Mm-hmm.

Kevin: That's good. (Sighs) I just don't want to be there when Ryder's packing.

Jana: Mm. You want to grab a bite first?

Kevin: Yeah.

Jana: Yeah?

Kevin: That's a good idea.

Jana: Okay.

Daniel: You know everything my mom said was valid, right?

Amber: About Little D.?

Daniel: Yeah. We just got Deacon out of our lives. I mean, wouldn't it be nice to live drama-free for a little while? Look, I know this isn't just my decision. We're married. We're partners for life, right?

Amber: Right.

Daniel: I'm gonna be honest with you. I-I don't really know how to do this.

Amber: Neither do I, okay? I mean, we're both just learning.

Daniel: You know, growing up with, uh, my dad, he wasn't exactly a great father figure or husband. Um, he was gone a lot on--on tour, and I'm trying to figure this out for myself one step at a time. And I guess if finding this kid means that much to you, then... okay.

Amber: You really mean that?

Daniel: Yeah. I'll help you find your mom and Deacon's kid.

Amber: (Crying) Baby, thank you. Thank you so much.

Adam: Yeah, no, no. I'm fine.

Ashley: Hey, uh, Sharon Newman came in--

Adam: Hey, uh, no, I think I see them.

Ashley: Excuse me.

Adam: Hey, guys.

Sharon: Oh, hey.

Noah: How's Fisher?

Adam: The vet said he's fine. Uh, they're just gonna keep him overnight and keep an eye on him. How are you doing?

Noah: It feels like somebody sandpapered my throat.

Adam: Yeah, me, too.

Sharon: You should have the doctor look at you, too.

Adam: No, no, I'm fine.

Ashley: What did the doctor say about you two?

Sharon: Well, we're still waiting for them to be seen.

Ashley: Oh, boy.

Nick: Noah? Son, are you okay?

Noah: Yeah, just my throat hurts.

Nick: Are you sure?

Michael: You scared the hell out of me.

Lauren: Both of us, Honey.

Eden: I'm sorry.

Michael: We're just glad you're okay, I guess.

Phyllis: What happened?

Sharon: Thank God we got to the house when we did.

Adam: There was just smoke pouring out from under the front door.

Sharon: It was so thick, we couldn't even see anything.

Ashley: And then, uh, Adam was a real hero. He ran right into the house to find Noah and Eden.

Noah: Eden passed out from all the smoke. I-I tried to carry her, but I thought I was gonna pass out, too. Then all of a sudden, Adam showed up.

Ashley: And not only did he find Noah and Eden, but he ran right back into the house and saved Fisher. Well, you did.

Adam: You'd have done the same thing, too.

Phyllis: So--so you were the one who saved their lives.

Sharon: He really did.

Michael: Thank you.

Sharon: Where is the doctor?

Phyllis: Um, I'll find him.

Lauren: How'd the fire start?

Adam: Uh, I talked to the-- the--the inspectors. The preliminary findings suggest, uh, a candle lit the-- the drapes on fire.

Noah: We lit candles.

Eden: But I-I blew them all out. I-I know I did.

Ryder: What a mess. (Scoffs) I've got no job. I've got no place to stay.

Daisy: There's a shelter.

Ryder: (Scoffs) Mom better do something fast, because I am not staying in a homeless shelter. Do you even know what she wants us to do next?

Daisy: No, but until she gets back, I'm in charge. So focus on making me happy. 'Cause you know how I get when I'm mad. Just ask that little witch Eden.

Ryder: What about Eden? What did you do to her?

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Daisy: You know what's at stake.

Ryder: Which is exactly why you're gonna let me stay with you.

Sharon: She sounded exactly like Noah did when he was her age.

Kay: I want a D.N.A. test.

Jo-Jo: No way.
