Phyllis: Well, some of those witnesses weren't too great for my reputation, were they?

Nick: Well, I'm still here.

Michael: Duly noted.

Phyllis: And appreciated.

Nick: So, Baldwin, how do you think its going?

Michael: There's a lot of he said, she said in there. I thrive on he said, she said.

Nick: All right. Well, then you should be, uh... is there something more important than your trial going on right now?

Phyllis: I-if you want to check on Summer, you can. I have to take care of something with Daniel.

Michael: And Kevin. They're joined at the hip.

Phyllis: Did he call?

Michael: No.

Nick: All right, what's going on?

Michael: My brother--

Phyllis: And my son, um--

Michael: Have gotten into a little trouble involving stolen cash.

Phyllis: Yeah, a lot of it.

Nick: Details, please.

Michael: Later.

Nick: Is there anything I can do to help?

Michael: Act normal.

Phyllis: Yeah, just like us.

Michael: Well, and if you believe in the power of prayer, include Kevin and Daniel.

Daniel: Wait. Okay, freeze that and enlarge it.

Kevin: Dude, you're right. It's Bonacheck.

Daniel: He nailed us.

Kevin: And now we nail him.

(Cell phone rings)

Maggie: Detective Sullivan.

Kevin: Hey, is that guy Bonacheck there with you?

Maggie: Kevin, where are you?

Jill: Has he seen my son?

Ji Min: Where is he?

Kevin: Why don't you just check the GPS?

Maggie: You're at the coffeehouse.

Kevin: With Daniel. Look, I need to know if that guy Bonacheck is with you.

Maggie: Is, uh, Cane with you?

Kevin: No.

Maggie: Picked up the money for a, uh, drop, and then we lost him.

Paul: (Whispers) let me talk. (Softly) Kevin, its Paul. Uh, listen, we're trying to figure out if somebody grabbed Cane.

Kevin: Just tell me if the treasury guy is with you.

Paul: Well, if he's not at the coffeehouse, I assume he's at his hotel.

Kevin: Doubtful. We just saw him on the coffeehouse security footage, ugly shoes and all. He's the guy who left the ransom note. You find him, I bet you find Cane.

Bonacheck: Looks like you have something to say, my man.

Amber: He brought you the money. Just take it and let us go.

Bonacheck: That money is marked. I want to know where the money is you stole from Plum.

Amber: Cane doesn't have it. He wasn't involved.

Bonacheck: Oh, so I should just let him go.

Amber: Yeah.

Bonacheck: Yes, okay, I could probably do that. But then you have to decide which is more important-- $700,000 or his life?

Bonacheck: You care to weigh in on that?

Cane: Tell him.

Amber: I--

Cane: Tell him!

Amber: I took your money, okay? I took it! Just let him go, and I will tell you everything.

Cane: I knew you stole the money, 'cause that's the only thing that matters to you.

Amber: What was I supposed to do, hmm? You were gonna cut me loose, and I don't look good in poverty. I can't go back there.

Cane: Fake wedding in Vegas was just for the cash?

Amber: So sue me.

Cane: I mustn't be a decent man, 'cause no one decent would marry the real you.

Amber: Whatever. You know, this guy's gonna get all that money anyway.

Bonacheck: Where is it?

Amber: Its 3 miles out of town, north on Route 12. There's an old, abandoned grain silo. That is where I stashed your money.

Paul: Uh, both cell phone and GPS. I'd say about an hour.

Jill: Here's the photo of Cane from my office.

Ji Min: Okay, great. They can copy that and distribute it.

Paul: That's-- that's all I know.

Jill: Paul, is there any news?

Paul: Uh, hold on a second. The police are calling in all the off-duty personnel to help with the search.

Ji Min: Detective Sullivan.

Maggie: Understood. Thank you, Captain. We'll keep looking.

Paul: Cane's mother. Right.

Jill: Was that about my son?

Maggie: You know the so-called federal agent Bonacheck?

Paul: Oh, he's M.I.A., too?

Maggie: Yeah, there's no answer on his cell phone or at his hotel room. Treasury department in Chicago hasn't heard a thing.

Paul: So Kevin's right.

Maggie: We're looking for both of them, Mrs. Abbott.

Jill: Yeah. Uh, here's a photo of him.

Maggie: That's helpful.

Paul: All right. I'm gonna meet you downstairs.

Maggie: Just try to go about your business like its any normal day and try to keep your mind off this as best you can.

Jill: (Whispers) yeah. Just find him for me.

Ji Min: Normal day, huh? How?

Jill: (Normal voice) um... I better call my mother and let her know what's going on.

Ji Min: I'll do it, all right? I'm not her favorite person, but maybe she'll--

Jill: She'll listen to you.

Gloria: Sorry to interrupt. Hey, I just saw Paul and Detective Maggie leaving. Something wrong?

Ji Min: Nothing.

Jill: Oh, your son doesn't discuss his criminal escapades with you?

Ji Min: Remember what the police said.

Gloria: What's that supposed to mean, Jill?

Jill: My son is out there, Gloria--

Ji Min: Jill, please. All right? Gloria, Kevin and some of his friends got a hold of some stolen money.

Jill: Some? $700,000.

Gloria: And what makes you think Kevin's involved?

Jill: Because he told us. Because of your son, my son may end up dead.

Daniel: He suckered me, you and the cops.

Kevin: How could I have been so stupid? I knew there was something sketchy about this guy.

Daniel: If he does anything to Amber, I--

Kevin: You'll what, throw a textbook at him? Look, if she doesn't tell him where she hid the money, then she--

Daniel: She can't tell him where she hid the money, 'cause she didn't take it.

Kevin: Well, I didn't take it, and you didn't take it. You took econ. Do the math.

Daniel: She said she doesn't have it.

Kevin: Oh, please. Look, I know she's your friend, but the girl would say 2 plus 2 equals 5 if it'd make her rich.

Daniel: I don't think so. Not this time. She's gotta be scared to death.

Kevin: Good. That's good. Fear is a great motivator.

(Cell phone rings)

Daniel: Yeah?

Phyllis: Daniel! Hello, it's your mother. Where are you?

Daniel: I'm at the coffeehouse with Kevin.

Phyllis: They're at Crimson Lights. What--how are you doing? What's going on?

Daniel: Listen, um... I screwed up big-time.

Michael: Let me talk to my brother. Let me talk to my brother. Come on.

Phyllis: Okay, listen. Michael wants to-- Michael wants to talk to Kevin.

Daniel: Your brother wants to talk to you.

Kevin: (Sighs) hey.

Michael: Don't "Hey" me. You are in serious trouble. Look, you've got two choices. You can go to the police station, or you can come here-- and Daniel, too.

Kevin: All right, soon, soon. I-I, uh, I gotta go.

Michael: Kevin! No, don't you hang up this phone!

Phyllis: He hung up on you?

Michael: Yes, he hung up on me.

Daniel: Bonacheck broke in to my apartment looking for the cash.

Kevin: So? He nabbed Amber at my place.

Daniel: Yeah, right. I can't sit around here in case something happens to Amber. I gotta try and do something.

Neil: Ah, it's hot.

Devon: Yeah?

Neil: It needs some sea salt, yeah.

Devon: All right.

Neil: Ah.

Lily: So I was watching the news. Nothing about the kidnapping, so that's good.

Devon: Is that 'cause the info hasn't leaked yet?

Lily: Yeah.

Neil: Hey, I don't want you two involved, remember?

Devon: (Chuckles) my head still hurts, Dad, from when I got hit. I'd say I'm already involved in it.

Lily: Listen, can we drop this?

Devon: Lily, are you really concerned about Daniel?

Lily: Yes, I am. He's my husband, remember? You can't just turn those feelings on and off.

Devon: Oh, yeah, you can turn 'em on and off. You know the guy you thought you knew, the guy you married? That'd be "On." The guy who got addicted to porn and stole 700 grand? That'd probably be "Off."

Lily: Dad, you haven't said anything about the trial.

Devon: You know, changing the subject, Lily, isn't gonna change the facts.

Lily: You testified today, right?

Neil: It was rough, especially for Sharon. I invited Jack and Sharon over for dinner, maybe take their minds of it, you know?

Devon: It couldn't have been easy for you, either.

Neil: I'm okay. Hey, can you set the table for five, please, Lily?

Lily: (Groans) I'm really not in the mood for company.

Neil: You know, your mom's best friend had her entire life dissected on the witness stand today. We're just doing what your mother would have done, all right?

(Knock on door)

Neil: Okay, remember, not a word, not one word about Daniel.

Neil: Jack, Sharon.

Jack: Hey, Buddy.

Neil: Hey, come on in.

Sharon: Thanks for having us.

Neil: Oh, absolutely.

Devon: Hey, you guys.

Jack: Hey, Devon. Good to see you, Sir.

Devon: Good to see you, too.

Jack: Lily.

Sharon: Lily, it's so good to see you.

Lily: You, too. I'm glad that you guys could make it.

Jack: Will Daniel be joining us?

Lily: Um, no, he actually got held up with a friend.

Bonacheck: You put $700,000 in a grain silo?

Amber: It's not like anyone would look there.

Bonacheck: You know, you played me before. You understand what will happen to you--

Cane: Of course she does! Instead of ending up rich, she ends up dead.

Bonacheck: No, not dead. Dead... dead is easy. I don't do easy. She would have to watch me kill you slowly... and painfully.

Amber: I am telling you the truth! Go get your money! That's what you want!

(Cell phone rings)

Bonacheck: Talk to me.

Daniel: Bonacheck, its Daniel. I'm on a borrowed cell.

Bonacheck: Daniel! Old buddy. That's funny, because I'm-- I was just having a little chat with your girlfriend here.

Daniel: Yeah? Well, you're wastin' your time.

Bonacheck: Uh, is that so?

Daniel: I got the money. Why don't you leave her alone?

Bonacheck: You have the money? You're sure about that?

Daniel: I'm positive. I dug it up, and I'm not bluffin'.

Bonacheck: Well, you know, it's--it's funny, Daniel, because Goldilocks here tells me that she has it, and now you tell me that you have it. You know, that pisses me off! And it's not good to piss me off!

Daniel: I'm telling you the truth.

Bonacheck: Yeah, well, is that--

Amber: No! No! No!

Bonacheck: You're a dead man.

Amber: Don't do it! I lied!

Cane: You kill her, you'll have a corpse and no money. You be smart and you talk to him.

Daniel: Bonacheck, talk to me. Hello!

Cane: Talk to him.

Daniel: Hello. He-- you know what? Fine. You know what? Don't talk to me. Don't get the money.

Bonacheck: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm listening.

Daniel: Meet me in an hour, and you get what you want. Okay?

Bonacheck: Where?

Daniel: Kevin's apartment.

Bonacheck: No. (Chuckles) that's a nice try, Punk, but you're wearing GPS devices. I was there when they went on.

Daniel: Yeah? Yeah? Can you track us?

Bonacheck: What, with my cell phone?

Daniel: Well, give me two minutes, and they're gonna be disabled. Okay? I'll come alone.

Bonacheck: Yeah. The cops come, and I kill you. No cops, no money--I kill you. Then I come back and I kill her after I take care of her husband. Do you have that?

Daniel: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got it. Listen, one more thing, I wanna make sure that Amber's okay. So when you get there, we're gonna call her together, we're gonna hear her voice. As long as I hear that, you get what you want. Okay?

Bonacheck: No, no, no, no, no. See, you don't make the demands, I do.

 (Sighs)

Kevin: Daniel, what do you plan to do when he finds out you don't have the money?

Daniel: (Grunts) surprise.

Paul: So I'm Bonacheck, where do I go?

Maggie: Why are you automatically Bonacheck?

Paul: All right, fine. You're Bonacheck. Where do you go?

Maggie: Well, I'm not at this hotel, obviously. Sullivan here. Bonacheck's floor and the elevator are clear.

(PDA beeps)

Maggie: Oh. Problem.

Paul: What now?

Maggie: Daniel and Kevin's GPS just went out.

Paul: They're up to something.

Cane: (Grunts) so who has the money, you or Daniel?

Amber: I don't have it. That's all I know.

Cane: Well, what was the point of that? You almost got yourself killed.

Amber: If I hadn't, you would be dead.

Cane: Well, even if Daniel gives him the money, he's still gonna kill us.

Carson: Which is why we have to get out of here before he gets back.

Cane: Ah, shut up. I liked you better gagged. I could get out of this if I had a bobby pin. Is there a bobby pin arou--

Carson: Oh, I'm sorry, Man. I'm fresh out.

Amber: I wish.

Cane: Look for something-- a piece of metal--just something I can get in the lock.

Devon: Hey, Guys, just wait till you taste my dad's gumbo.

Lily: Well, it needs a-- a few more minutes. Man, I wish we would hear something.

Devon: Yeah, like your husband's been busted. I'd like to hear that, too. Mmm. Lily, that gumbo sure does look good.

Sharon: Is it spicy gumbo? Oh, is that Dru's recipe?

Neil: Oh, you betcha. No one could make gumbo quite like Dru. Now there's a special ingredient that she never shared. I begged. She wouldn't tell. My final offer was a blue box with a pricey tag attached.

Sharon: Yeah.

Jack: (Laughs)

Neil: No go.

Sharon: (Laughs)

Jack: I'm surprised she didn't go for that.

Devon: Well, she almost caved. Dad even ordered the jewelry.

Neil: Yeah, I did. Earrings.

Lily: Yep, and the box came the day after she died.

Sharon: You know, I was at Fenmore's the other day, and I saw this hat--hot pink with feathers all over it-- and I thought, Dru would love this.

Lily: (Chuckles) yeah, we keep all of her hats in the top of her closet.

Neil: Her hats and-- and her shoes, I just-- I-I couldn't give 'em away.

Jack: My dad loved ties.

Neil: Mm.

Jack: Boy, he never threw one away. He had ties from the 1940s. After he died, I couldn't bring myself to get rid of one of 'em.

Sharon: You know, I was, uh... I was in court today and, um... when Michael Baldwin was tearing me apart, I thought, I just wish that I had used better judgment...

Jack: Hey.

Sharon: Made better decisions.

Jack: Nobody blames you.

Sharon: Well, I had to tell the whole world about my affair, and I just felt... mortified.

Devon: Well, Phyllis is the one who should feel mortified.

Lily: (Scoffs) like that would ever happen? That woman has no tact.

Jack: Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Devon: Guys, there's no way that she's gonna just get off without doing any time, right?

Neil: Mm, I don't know.

Lily: Yeah, what kind of justice would that be?

Jack: You know, I watched the jury. They were listening quite closely. Who knows what's gonna happen?

Sharon: I just hope that Michael Baldwin doesn't go in there and razzle-dazzle 'em so Phyllis gets off with her hands clean and a smile on her face.

Michael: All right, so they have a new exhibit. When do they plan on introducing it? Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, right. Uh, thanks for the heads-up. Yeah. Then bye.

Phyllis: Michael, why isn't Daniel calling me?

Michael: No news is no news. Uh, meanwhile... back to the possible six years in prison, which would be you. Listen to me, a friend in the D.A.'s office says happy people have been streaming through Heather's office, and one of them was overheard to say, and I quote, "Newman's not gonna know what hit her." They have a new piece of evidence of a documentary nature. Any notions? Phyllis, any notions?

Phyllis: What? What? Notions? What? No, I-I don't know. I-I don't have anything for you.

Michael: You could at least pretend to have given it some thought.

Phyllis: I... I don't know. I really don't care right now.

Michael: Oh, you-- you know what? You know what? Now would be an excellent time for everyone to start caring.

Phyllis: It doesn't matter, Michael. It's not about me. My son could be involved in a kidnapping.

Michael: Oh.

Nick: He what?

Michael: (Groans)

Phyllis: What?

Nick: I thought this was about stolen money. Now it's about stolen people?

Phyllis: Oh. Nick, it's just so complicated.

Nick: Oh, I bet. And I get it. And I also get that you aren't giving me a straight answer about anything that matters, and I'm sick of it.

Phyllis: And in this case, the request came from the police.

Michael: And I can confirm that.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. Right.

Nick: Go on.

Phyllis: Yeah, so first it was about stolen money, and then it turned into this--

Nick: Your son kidnapping someone?

Phyllis: No, no, no.

Michael: No, no, no, no, no.

Nick: Who was taken?

Phyllis: It was--

Gloria: Michael... have you spoken to your brother?

Michael: Not now, Gloria.

Gloria: No, do not... say that to me. Where is Kevin? Where is Daniel? And when was the last time you spoke to them?

Michael: Okay, okay. Calm down. Deep breaths. How are we supposed to behave while the nice police officers are doing their job?

Phyllis: Normally. It's normally, right?

Michael: Normally, normally, but you and Phyllis are agitated.

Phyllis: I'm not agitated.

Michael: And being agitated leads to bad decision making, and bad decision making leads to bad results. So come on, walk with me, talk with me. Let's go. Here we go. Deep breaths. (Door closes)

Phyllis: I, uh, bet you wish you'd stayed in bed today, comfy, cozy, away from court.

Phyllis: Daniel's a really good kid.

Nick: I know he is.

Phyllis: You do?

Nick: Yeah. But like your lawyer would say, objection, it's irrelevant.

Phyllis: That's funny. (Clears throat) listen, you can go home and take care of Summer if you want. You don't have to be a part of this.

Nick: No, Phyllis, I'm not going anywhere until both of these things are settled.

Phyllis: Well, I-I hope you're not going anywhere even when they're settled. Anyway... I'm--I'm sorry... I'm making light of this. I just didn't-- I didn't tell you this because I didn't want you to worry.

Nick: No, you didn't tell me this because you didn't want me to think badly of your son. Because then you'd be worried that I'd think badly of you.

Michael: Before you say anything, I'd like to note that I've already started helping your brilliant-yet-boneheaded younger son.

Gloria: You think if you make it sound like Kevin was just being boneheaded, I won't be so upset?

Michael: I don't know. Did it work?

Gloria: I blame myself, Michael.

Michael: Oh, please. Let's not start into his misbegotten childhood.

Gloria: It's true.

Michael: You don't think I know that? All I have to do is look into his beady little eyes, and I see the little kid I left behind. I will always owe him... so I will always and forever save him.

Gloria: Maybe it's not such a good thing.

Michael: What, I should stop?

Gloria: I just really thought he was getting so much better.

Michael: Two steps forward, yada yada. It is my fervent wish that Kevin eventually learn how to save himself, preferably before he needs a lawyer.

Gloria: I just don't know if he can. That's a terrible thing for a mother to say... or have to try to accept.

Jill: You know, I've only had Cane back, what, a couple of months now? But I couldn't feel closer to him.

Ji Min: Well, I know he feels the same way about you.

Jill: I remember the day he was born. The nurse put him in my arms... now a newborn can't see very well-- I read that somewhere-- but I'm telling you, he looked into my eyes, and I thought... of course you know me. You've always known me. And I've always known you.

Ji Min: You sound like a Buddhist.

Jill: No. I sound like a mother.

Cane: There's gotta be something here we could use to open these cuffs. Look for something! Look for something!

Carson: (Grunts)

Amber: Oh, wait, wait, wait. I got it. I got it. I got--there's a nail file.

Carson: Where?

Amber: It's in the door.

Cane: Get it, get it, get it!

Amber: Look. Can you open it?

Carson: Yeah.

Amber: Are you sure? Ah!

Carson: Do you see it?

Amber: Look! Ah!

Carson: All right. Give it to me, give it to me.

Amber: No!

Cane: No, don't give it to him. Come over here.

Amber: No, I won't, Cane.

Carson: Yeah, that makes sense.

Cane: Now slide it inside the ratchet. Don't put it in the keyhole. I need you to lever-- lever the ratchet with it.

Amber: Okay.

Cane: Inside the ratchet.

Amber: Inside the ratchet.

Cane: Yeah? Now push.

Amber: Yeah, baby?

Cane: No, with your forearms, yeah.

Amber: Okay, okay.

Cane: Push, push.

Carson: Hurry!

Cane: Push. Shut up!

Amber: I got it! I got it. I got it. Okay. Oh.

Carson: We're out of here.

Amber: Thank you. Thank you so much. I didn't think you were gonna come for me, but you did.

Cane: Yeah, I should hate you.

Amber: But you don't?

Cane: No, I don't.

Amber: No? Good.

Carson: Come on, Guys. Hurry up.

Cane: Look, shut up.

Amber: Can you get...

Cane: All right, all right.

Amber: I think--I think you gotta call the cops about Daniel. Okay?

Carson: All right, all right, get me. Hey, hey, get me. Hey!

Cane: How do I--shut up. How do I know you don't work for Bonacheck?

Carson: Because I don't!

Cane: Yeah? Well, that's not good enough, Mate, is it? Here. All right. I'll talk to you later, Sunshine. Let's move.

Daniel: Mr. Bonacheck, I gotta say, you made the right decision.

Bonacheck: Yeah, we'll see about that. Hands in the air. Hands in the air, now. Now... where's my money?

Daniel: I will get you your money, but I want to talk to Amber first.

Bonacheck: No. Uh, she's tied up right now.

Daniel: Listen, did that Cane guy, did he have his inhaler--

Bonacheck: Daniel!

Daniel: What? What?

Bonacheck: If I don't get my money in the next 30 seconds, I'm gonna paint these walls with your brains! Now for the last time, where is my money?

Daniel: I will get you your money.

Bonacheck: Ten seconds.

Daniel: It's gonna take a little longer than ten seconds because I hid it.

Bonacheck: Where?

Daniel: I-I hid it here, under the floor. Okay? I need to get my tools.

Bonacheck: Yeah, w-- f-forget the tools! Just the rip the tiles up before I rip your head off.

Daniel: I gotta get the tools. They're in the other room.

Bonacheck: Do you know how tired I am of everyone lying to me?

Daniel: I'm not lying to you. I'm not lying to you. I can't get you the money without the tools.

Bonacheck: Let's just forget the tools. Let's just take a walk in the basement.

Daniel: No. You don't want to do this. Look, you don't want to kill me because you'll never find the money.

Bonacheck: There's nothing to find except your Bo--

Maggie: Freeze! Police!

Paul: Drop your weapon!

Maggie: Hit the ground! Both of you, hit the ground!

Paul: Mr. Bonacheck, drop your weapon.

Sharon: It was so nice of you to do this, especially tonight of all nights.

Neil: Well, Sharon, that's what friends are for, right?

Sharon: I know that you hated testifying for Phyllis this afternoon.

Neil: I had no choice. I was subpoenaed.

Lily: Why haven't we heard anything? You know, maybe I should call Daniel.

Devon: Lily, when there's something to know, you'll know about it. Okay?

Lily: I know. Okay? (Gasps) oh. Sorry. You--you scared me.

Jack: I--I'm sorry. No, I-I just wanted to see if maybe there's anything I can do to help.

Lily: Um... how--how--how do you know?

Devon: No, with dinner. You wanted--you wanted to know if you could help with dinner, right?

Jack: Right.

Lily: Oh. Yeah, right. Sorry.

Jack: Why? Is something else bothering you?

Lily: No. No, no, no. I'm--I'm fine.

Daniel: Make sure he tells you where Amber and Cane are.

Paul: Relax, Daniel. We know.

Daniel: What do you mean, you already know? Where are they? Are they okay?

Maggie: Yeah, they're fine. We, uh, they called us, too.

Daniel: Okay, well, I want to talk to Amber then. Now, please.

Maggie: Okay, well, I think you'll be seeing her a lot sooner than you think. Put your hands behind your back.

Daniel: Excuse me?

Maggie: You're under arrest.

Daniel: You gotta be kidding.

Maggie: You're under arrest for theft and conspiracy.

Daniel: That's great. Thanks.

Maggie: You have the right to remain silent.

Daniel: Know what, Detective? Why don't you save your breath? This ain't my first time, okay?

Maggie: I'm afraid I can't do that. Anything you say...

Daniel: I want to talk to Michael Baldwin, and I want to talk to Amber now!

Maggie: Can and will be used against you in a court of law.

Daniel: I want to talk to Amber now! Okay?

Maggie: If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you.

Cane: (Sighs)

Jill: Oh.

Ji Min: (Chuckles)

Cane: Oh.

Jill: Oh, I'm so glad to see you.

Cane: (Laughs) you can't get rid of me that easily.

Jill: Oh. Oh.

Ji Min: Well, this is a day your mother never wants to relive.

Cane: Oh, tell me about it.

Jill: Oh.

Cane: (Sighs)

Amber: I want to apologize. I never intended for any--

Jill: You never intended?

Amber: No, I just-- it all just turned into such a big mess. I--

Jill: Amber! You made the mess.

Amber: I know. I know I did, but...

Jill: Oh, you're such a miserable excuse for a human being. My son could do so much better than you.

Amber: Well, I can explain. I-I--

Jill: Don't explain. Actions speak louder than words. My son needs a woman with integrity and with grace, and all you've ever been is an embarrassment to this family. So if you ever come near us again, I will have you arrested and thrown in jail, if you're not there already.

Woman: Amber Ashby? You're under arrest.

Amber: What? No. No. Cane. Cane, help me.

Jill: That's right, Officer. Take out the trash.

Amber: Help me, please.

Woman: "You have the right to remain silent."

Amber: No! I know you love me.

Kevin: You're scaring me. You said you'd call me, you're not picking up your phone--

Gloria: Did you hear?

Kevin: Just get in touch with me so I don't have a heart attack. Hear what?

Gloria: They caught the bad guy. Your friends are free. It's all over the news.

Kevin: Oh, thank God. That's such good news.

Gloria: Kevin, what are you thinking? If you needed money for your private little witch hunt, why didn't you come to me?

Man: Kevin Fisher?

Kevin: No! I'm not going. You don't understand, Sir. It's just a misunderstanding.

Gloria: No, stop. Stop this.

Man: You have the right to remain silent...

Kevin: Mom, call Michael. Hurry up. Call. Use my phone...

Neil: Okay, and now for the pièce de résistance.

Lily: (Laughs)

Devon: Here we go.

Neil: Dru's favorite salad spices. All right? She got this combo from her Aunt Mamie. You ready?

Lily: Yes, we're ready.

[Neil goes to spinkle the spice bottle and the lid falls off and a bunch of the spice falls in the salad]

Sharon: Whoa!

Devon: Oh.

Lily: Dad, its okay. I-I can fix it, Dad.

Neil: No, no. Stay where you are. Stay. I-I-I did it. It's... it's my fault.

Devon: Dad, its fine.

Neil: No, it isn't. I... tore every lettuce leaf. I chopped every pepper, every scallion. I did it right... all of it.

Sharon: We know you did.

Jack: Yeah, how about I make another salad? Actually, it's my specialty.

Neil: No, Jack. It's too late. It wouldn't be the same. It never will be again.

Lily: Dad, hey, wh-- what--what can I do?

Neil: Seeing Phyllis in that courtroom today... knowing that she's responsible for the death of my wife... I literally wanted to wrap my fingers around her neck and choke the life out of her. I just wish Dru were here, because if she was... this salad wouldn't be ruined. She would make sure that that gumbo had the secret ingredient. And I wouldn't know what it feels like to want to take someone's life.

Daniel: Where is your brother? And where is Amber? And what am I gonna tell Lily?

Kevin: I can't go to jail. I won't go. I won't go to jail.

Daniel: Felony theft, conspiracy, tampering with a corpse-- Lily's gonna flip.

Kevin: We have to figure a way outta this, or I'm gonna take off. That's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna take off. Seriously. Because I'd rather be on the run the rest of my life than go back to jail.

Daniel: Will you calm down? I'm the one who's in more trouble here. I've got way more explaining to do.

Kevin: Yeah, and more praise to take. I mean, you saved her life.

Amber: You did save our lives.

Man: Just wait here for your lawyer.

Amber: I don't have a lawyer.

Man: You'll get a public defender.

Amber: Okay. You know, you did save my life.

Daniel: Kevin helped.

Kevin: Don't listen to him. It was his idea to lure Bonacheck back to my place. You didn't hear me volunteering. All I had to do was call the cops.

Amber: Well, you're my heroes.

Kevin: I'd be touched if I hadn't just been arrested.

Michael: You've all been arrested. And I'm representing all of you. Don't thank me now. I'll lecture later. (Sighs) do you understand what's coming up here?

Kevin: Yeah, as long as I don't go back to jail. Anything but that.

Michael: You will be charged, and the judge might set bail.

Amber: He might?

Michael: With charges this serious, it's not a lock.

Daniel: That's bad.

Kevin: Yeah, you don't know bad until you're behind bars.

Michael: One more thing about representing all of you. The nanosecond you start blaming each other, the deal is off. Don't say it won't happen, because it usually always does. And when it does, I'm Kevin's lawyer and his alone. Because blood is thicker than the legal fees you can't afford anyway. Understood?

Daniel: Absolutely.

Amber: Yeah.

Kevin: Yes.

Michael: Good. Kevin, you and Daniel have substantial ties to the community, and that's good. Amber, you're gonna have to tell me everything and anything that will help me make this judge believe that you won't blow this popsicle stand the moment you're free on bond.

Paul: So, Carson, is that really your name?

Carson: Yeah, it is. I was beginning to think you guys had forgotten about me.

Maggie: Not without asking you a few questions first.

Carson: About Bonacheck? Can't help you there. Wasn't working with the guy.

Paul: Is that so?

Carson: Yeah. What? I came into town to get my money, to find a friend, and I find myself in the middle of I don't know what and...

Paul: That the whole story?

Carson: Yeah. It's the truth.

Maggie: Great. Then tell it downtown.

Carson: I'm not a criminal, Guys.

Paul: Which is why Detective Sullivan isn't cuffing you... yet.

Gloria: Why? Why did you do something so stupid?

Phyllis: I can't believe you did this while I'm on trial.

Daniel: It was bad judgment.

Kevin: I had good reason.

Phyllis: It was no judgment.

Gloria: I can't believe it. I am just so grateful that William isn't here to see this.

Man: Quiet! Settle down. I said be quiet.

Gloria: You tell me, whose idea was it to take the money?

Phyllis: What do you want to do? What do you want to do?

Kevin: I can't tell you that. I can't tell you that.

Gloria: Kevin, was it your idea?

Kevin: I said I can't talk about it.

Daniel: I'm apologizing...

Michael: Quiet down, all of you! This is serious!

Daniel: I saved my friends' lives.

Kevin: This has nothing to do with William!

Michael: Listen to me-- (voices overlapping)

Judge: Order in my courtroom!

(Voices quiet down)

Judge: Mr. Fisher, Ms. Moore, Mr. Romalotti, do you understand the charges?

Amber: Yes.

Kevin: I do.

Daniel: Yes, your honor.

Judge: Be seated. I'm ready to consider bail arguments. Ms. Sinclair, for the state?

Sinclair: Your honor, despite the relative youth of the defendants, these are very serious offenses. Pending on further investigation, our office reserves the right to bring additional charges.

Judge: Such as?

Sinclair: Murder in the first degree. Mr. Romalotti has been a fugitive from prosecution. And as for Ms. Moore, she has no known ties to the community other than a low-level job at a boutique and a recent marriage.

Judge: Your recommendation?

Sinclair: Considering the amount of money involved, that we're dealing with a criminal conspiracy and the possibility of additional charges, half a million dollars for Mr. Fisher, no bail for Mr. Romalotti or Ms. Moore.

Judge: Mr. Baldwin?

Michael: I'll be brief. Mr. Fisher owns a business in Genoa City. He has an executive position at Jabot Cosmetics. It's no secret that he's my brother. If he flees, he would ruin my reputation, and I'm sure he wouldn't do that to me. Mr. Romalotti is married, he works at Newman Enterprises, and he attends the university. And while Ms. Moore is new to our city, she is a well-known fashion designer, currently working at Fenmore's. She is also married to the son of one of the pillars of our community, Ms. Jill Abbott.

Judge: Your recommendation?

Michael: $50,000 each.

Amber: (Whispers) I don't have $50,000.

Judge: The value of the stolen property?

Sinclair: Cash, some of it already spent-- $700,000.

Judge: Has it been recovered?

Sinclair: No, your honor.

Judge: Divide that three ways. Bail is set at $234,000 for each defendant.

Michael: Thank you, your honor.

Judge: (Bangs gavel) we're adjourned.

Phyllis: Felony charges, maybe even murder charges-- I should've seen this coming. This is my fault.

Nick: This is not your fault.

Man: Bail has been posted for you.

Daniel: Thank you for putting up the cash.

Nick: No problem. I'm glad you're okay.

Phyllis: You didn't... you didn't kill that guy?

Daniel: No. We found him dead.

Nick: Then what did you do?

Daniel: I-I don't know. I don't--how do you want me to try and explain this to you? You...

Phyllis: Yes.

Michael: Why don't you stop right there? Let's not talk about this anymore in public. Your mother can explain why.

Phyllis: Yes. I can explain why. Isn't this funny? Some families bond over sports. We bond over the legal system.

Daniel: I understand.

Phyllis: Mm.

Daniel: Listen, I need to call Lily. Okay?

 (Telephone rings)

Lily: Oh, excuse me. Sorry.

Devon: Daniel?

Lily: Daniel?

Daniel: Hey, uh, yeah. Look, it's--it's over. I mean, at least for now. I mean, I'm out on bail. You know, if someone told me I was gonna be standing here trying to explain this to you and tell you how much that I--

Lily: Don't say it.

Daniel: Lily...

Lily: You know, people always say that... your first love is the hardest to lose. And now I understand why.

Gloria: Michael, you know how all this legal stuff works. Can they make this murder charge stick?

Michael: Well, I haven't seen any of the evidence yet. But who knows? Maybe they won't file anything.

Gloria: Yeah, well, if they do, you have to stop it. Because this cannot happen.

Michael: Well, you have to...

Kevin: Thank you for bailing me out.

Gloria: Damn you.

Kevin: I'm sorry.

Michael: Sorry? Now you're sorry?

Kevin: Look, Mike, I'm trying. Okay? But people--

Michael: No, no, you're not trying. Because if you were trying just a little bit like a normal person, we wouldn't be here.

Kevin: Oh, well, then I don't need you representing your abnormal brother.

Michael: Whoa, whoa, whoa, on the contrary, abnormal brother. Tonight you better thank the Gods that we have the same mother.

Gloria: Stop it, both of you, now. Home.

Man: Bail's been posted. You can go.

Amber: (Whispers) okay.

Amber: You came.

Cane: Yeah. Well, when I have to ask my mom to put up a quarter of a million dollars in bail for someone she hates, I want to make sure there's some follow-through.

Amber: Well, I'll-- I'll make it up to her. Just give me one more chance.

Cane: Yeah, then one more, then one more and one more, 'cause that's who you are. Look at you, trying to act like your love's a mile wide, but it's as thin as your fingernail. So don't try and convince me you have a heart, okay?

Amber: I do. I know I do because I can feel it breaking right now.

Cane: Yeah, whatever. After this we're done. I don't want to see your face again.

Amber: No, Cane, come on. Just wait. Cane.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Phyllis: Brad's marriage fell apart, and instead of taking responsibility for it, he's trying to put the blame on somebody else.

Lily: Hey, where do you think the money is? Think they're keeping it?

David: Somebody just tried to run me off the side of the road.

Victor: If I want you dead, you will be dead.
