Cane: If Amber set this up, I swear--
Kevin: Yeah, and if she's really been kidnapped, then we're doing the right thing.
Daniel: Yeah, that note looked pretty real to me.
Kevin: Somebody wants that money badly. My guess is its Carson.
Cane: Yeah, well, I got 50 bucks on Amber. You know what? The other guy's gonna be really upset when he finds out the cash is gone.
Daniel: You know, I get that you're upset about the whole marriage thing, but can you maybe give her the benefit of the doubt here?
Cane: Are you trying to be funny?
Daniel: Are you? This guy probably has your wife and he probably has the money and you're--
Kevin: All right, guys, guys, argue later! We've gotta figure out what to do first.
Daniel: This guy could kill her.
Cane: Don't say that!
Kevin: He's being realistic.
Cane: Well, maybe we should call the authorities.
Daniel: No. No. The note said no cops.
Kevin: Guys, we're wasting time. Come on, let's just go. Whatever you're selling, we don't want any.
Man: I'm here to see Kevin Fisher.
Kevin: That's me, but I'm on my way out the door.
Man: This is important.
Kevin: Well, whatever you want, I don't have time right now.
Man: Make time.
Kevin: Who the hell are you?
Bonacheck: John Bonacheck of the U.S. Treasury Department. I need to ask you some questions.
(Knock on door)
Adrian: Uh, I thought you were talking to me.
Colleen: I wasn't. I mean, I am now. Um... I almost didn't come.
Adrian: Well, uh, I, for one, am glad that emotion and, uh, gut instinct beat out logic and, you know--
Colleen: I thought you wouldn't wanna talk to me.
Adrian: I'll always-- I'll always talk to you.
Colleen: Are you going to invite me in?
Adrian: Entrez-vous, ma cherie.
Michael: Don't get me mad. I've already filed that lawsuit in court. It is too late to be changing your mind.
Gloria: Michael, hang up. This is no time for business. Here, Lauren, sit down.
Lauren: Thank you very much.
Michael: Yeah? Okay, okay, listen to me, I will phone you tomorrow. We'll discuss it then. Bye.
Lauren: Where is everyone?
Gloria: Phyllis and Nick are on their way. I mean it, Michael! No more calls. Turn it off.
Michael: Any specific reason?
Gloria: Because tonight we are going to forget about our troubles for a while, drink lots of champagne and have a fabulous meal.
Lauren: Oh, hear, hear. You see, the literal translation of that is, Phyllis' trial is off limits.
Gloria: Thank you, Lauren.
Lauren: Thank you.
Michael: Duly noted, Ladies. Where's Kevin?
Gloria: Kevin isn't joining us. He called with some excuse or other.
Michael: Well, with the mood he's been in lately, it's just as well.
Gloria: Well, his loss. He'll be sorry he missed this.
Kevin: What does the treasury department want with me?
Bonacheck: Is there somewhere where we can talk in private?
Kevin: No. These guys are my friends. It's cool.
Bonacheck: I've been tracking a substantial sum of money that's gone missing.
Bonacheck: Last known to be in Los Angeles.
Daniel: What does that have to do with Kevin?
Cane: And why are you here?
Bonacheck: Well, some of the bills surfaced in Genoa City. Tracking back, we learned that you made a purchase with a portion of the stolen money.
Kevin: I own a coffeehouse. Hundreds of customers a month pay in cash. I don't ask 'em where their bills came from.
Bonacheck: Yeah, we also tracked two other people who spent the money here.
Kevin: See? I'm not the only one. I bet half the town is using--
Bonacheck: Do you know a Daniel Romalotti?
Daniel: I'm Daniel Romalotti.
Bonacheck: Well, you are one of the names we tracked. Interesting, you two are friends? I don't suppose you're Amber Ashby?
Cane: No, I'm just the guy who thought he was married to her.
Bonacheck: Well, it looks like I hit the trifecta.
Kevin: This is a small town.
Bonacheck: It's a hell of a coincidence-- you all being together. Now, Mr. Fisher, when you first bought the—
(cell phone ringing)
Bonacheck: Oh, excuse me, I have to take this. Yeah, hello, what do you have for me?
Kevin: Not a word to this guy, you got it?
Cane: How do you know he's legit?
Daniel: We saw his credentials.
Cane: Yeah, they could be fake. So what?
Bonacheck: Thank you, that's good work. Gentlemen, would you like to take a seat? We're gonna be here a while.
Kevin: Uh, my friend just brought up a good point here, Mr. Bottecelli.
Kevin: Sure. How do we know you're really a treasury agent?
Cane: Your credentials could be fake. We wouldn't know the difference.
Bonacheck: Well, you're free to call the branch office in Chicago to verify my status.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, what's their number?
Bonacheck: Well, the number at the bottom there.
Kevin: And how do we know that the person on the other end isn't a plant?
Bonacheck: Well, you can always call directory assistance.
Daniel: I think I'll do that.
Daniel: Uh, yes, Chicago, please. Uh, can I have the number for the department of the treasury?
Lily: Dad, there's... something that I haven't told you.
Neil: So there's more?
Lily: When our house was broken into...
Neil: Your house was broken into, yeah, and?
Lily: I found out... that... amber has been kidnapped.
Neil: Are you kidding me?
Lily: Yes, the police don't know. They left a note saying that they have her and not to involve them.
Neil: They left a note? Who left a note?
Lily: The kidnapper! I don't know his name, but they're after a lot of money.
Neil: Okay, all right, slow down, slow down now. What money?
Lily: It belonged to this guy who died. And Kevin, Amber and Daniel kept it instead of turning it in to the police.
Neil: I knew it! I knew that that break-in had to do with Daniel.
Lily: No, Dad, please, please, don't get angry.
Neil: Are you Kidd-- they commit a crime, your life is in danger, you expect me not to be angry about this? You're damn right I'm angry. In fact, I'm gonna call the cops right now.
Lily: No, Dad, you can't! The note said no cops!
Neil: Lily, listen to me, I am calling the police.
Lily: No, Dad, the note said no cops.
Neil: All right, all right, fine.
Lily: Thank you.
Neil: Um, let me think. Let me think for a minute here, all right? This is what I want you to do. I want you to go home to my apartment. I'll call you when I'm-- I gotta go.
Lily: No, wait, Dad, where are you going?
Neil: I'm gonna find out what the hell is going on here. Go to my apartment.
Adrian: So how have you been?
Adrian: Honesty. I like that. Haven't seen you around in a while.
Colleen: Yeah, I was in New York visiting my mom. I, uh, had to get away for a while, you know? Get her advice on some things.
Adrian: Sounds serious.
Colleen: You are.
Adrian: Um, may I ask the outcome? So I can plan my schedule accordingly?
Colleen: Well, she isn't fond of the relationship, but she was there to listen to me talk about it. It helped me put things in perspective.
Adrian: Perspective. The romance killer.
Colleen: Look, I was upset with you. But I understand why you were angry with me.
Adrian: You do?
Colleen: Yeah. You were looking out for me, right?
Adrian: I shouldn't have gotten as upset with you as I did. I was just so frustrated and terrified at the same time. It really shook me when I realized you might've been killed.
Colleen: I know. Look, I know that you think Kevin's a bad influence, but he's changed. And he needed my help.
Adrian: And I get that, too. But I'm not gonna support you when you do dangerous things. Especially with him.
Colleen: I know. I am sorry. For everything.
Adrian: Me, too. Can you, uh, can you forgive me?
Colleen: Wow! Smart, apologetic and understanding. I knew there was a reason I liked you.
Gloria: Phyllis! I am so glad you joined us.
Phyllis: Yes, thank you very much.
Michael: Where's your husband?
Phyllis: I'm flying solo tonight.
Lauren: Did Nick have to work?
Phyllis: Nope, he did not. He's just not coming. Um, by the way, he's not coming to the trial tomorrow, either.
Michael: I'm sorry, uh, tell me you're joking.
Phyllis: Not joking. It wasn't his idea. I asked him not to come.
Michael: Why would you do an asinine thing like that?
Phyllis: I don't want him being there out of obligation.
Michael: Well, I do. Or else we stand a very good chance of losing this trial.
Phyllis: We're not gonna lose this trial.
Michael: Why don't you just stand up in front of the jurors and yell, "I am guilty!"
Phyllis: You know what? Maybe I will! That's a good idea!
Michael: Well, do it!
Gloria: So that's your idea of no trial talk?
Michael: I had to say something. The woman is committing legal suicide.
Gloria: That is her business, Michael.
Michael: First rule of law school, your client's business is your business. If she wants to be adequately represented, I need to be well aware of everything that's going on in her life down to the color of her socks.
Lauren: Look, Michael didn't mean to get so angry. Come on, let's go back to the table.
Phyllis: No, I don't want to. And he did mean to get angry. He meant every word he said.
Lauren: That's because this trial means so much to him, Phyllis. He doesn't wanna let you down. You're not just a client to him. You're his dear friend.
Phyllis: Then he should talk to me like I'm his friend.
Lauren: You're right. And he certainly lacks in tact when he gets all worked up. He just wants you to understand that it would be so much better if Nick were there to support you.
Phyllis: Listen, I know that. I know this. Lauren, I have done everything possible besides standing on my head to get Nick to remember who I am. He doesn't remember that we were married or that we have a child together. I can't do anything else! He looks at me like I'm a stranger. I can't take it! I can't! I don't want him there. You know, he's not in love with me. I'm not gonna force him to be.
Lauren: Okay. I know you've been under a lot of pressure. I'm sorry. And you don't have to be so tough with me.
Phyllis: I'm not being tough. Maybe we can talk the judge into giving a cell that has room service? What do you think?
Lauren: I think you should understand that we're all here tonight because we love and support you. Okay, Gloria's tried to make it special.
Michael: Phyllis, get back to the table.
Phyllis: No, thank you. I'm fine. I'm not interested in-- in going back to the table and getting a lecture.
Michael: I'm sorry. I just want the--the "T" word I'm not allowed to say anymore to go well. I care about you even when I'm yelling at you. Please? Come back.
Phyllis: Okay. I will only come back because you said I'm sorry. So I will come back. Please.
(Knock on door)
Colleen: Shh. (Whispers) if you don't answer, maybe they'll go away.
Lily: Coll? It's me. Can you please open up if you're in there?
Colleen: (Normal voice) something's wrong.
Colleen: Hey. I was in the other room. Come in. What's wrong?
Lily: Well... everything is a mess, that's what's wrong.
Adrian: I'll be right back.
Lily: I was driving back to my dad's apartment and I saw your car. I'm really glad that you're here.
Colleen: What's wrong?
Lily: It's Daniel. Again.
Daniel: The guy's who he says he is.
Bonacheck: Well, if you're satisfied, I'd like some answers.
Kevin: I'm not sure how we can help you.
Daniel: Yeah, we don't know anything.
Bonacheck: You recognize him?
Daniel: Doesn't look familiar.
Bonacheck: What about you?
Cane: I'm not sure.
Bonacheck: Oh, yeah? Take a closer look.
Kevin: Who is that guy?
Bonacheck: Well, he goes by a lot of different names. One of them is Plum.
Daniel: What is he, some sort of criminal or something?
Bonacheck: I believe that he's the man behind the disappearance of the money.
Kevin: How much money?
Bonacheck: About $700,000. No? You're sure you don't recognize him?
Kevin: Look, I can't be positive. It is possible he came into the coffeehouse, but I meet tons of new people every day.
Bonacheck: Mr. Romalotti?
Daniel: I don't think so.
Bonacheck: Mr. Ashby?
Cane: No, still not familiar. Sorry.
Bonacheck: Yeah, well, maybe he'll look familiar the next time when we talk elsewhere. Genoa City is the only place where this money has turned up, lots of it. Your wife purchased a new motorcycle. The serial numbers of the money match the bills I'm looking for. Uh, where is she?
Cane: I don't know. I'm looking for her myself.
(Knock on door)
Kevin: Excuse me.
Neil: Hey, there you are. You got something to tell me?
Neil: You got something to tell me? Cat got your tongue?
Kevin: This isn't a good time, Mr. Winters.
Neil: Who asked you, Kevin?
Bonacheck: Sir, I'm John Bonacheck of the U.S. Treasury department.
Neil: So you're here about the kidnapping?
Bonacheck: What kidnapping?
Bonacheck: Who was abducted? Someone you all know?
Kevin: Your wife has such a big mouth!
Neil: Her name is Amber Moore.
Daniel: You shut up about my wife, okay?
Bonacheck: Now quiet! All of you! Now she's the same as Amber Ashby?
Kevin: Okay, I can explain. You see, its not--
Bonacheck: No, you've had your chance. And you are?
Neil: Me? I'm Neil Winters. Daniel is my son-in-law.
Bonacheck: Tell me everything you know.
Neil: Okay. These two men-- they found a note in this apartment demanding money for Amber's return. Money they ripped off.
Bonacheck: And you know this how?
Neil: Because my daughter informed me.
Colleen: Thank you.
Lily: Can you believe that my husband is a thief? What is next? Murder?
Adrian: Well, I'm sure he had a lot going through his mind when he decided to go through with it.
Colleen: He was thinking of himself, nothing else.
Adrian: Well, ego and greed can be insidious forces. It makes one feel invulnerable. I'm sure he never thought he'd get caught.
Lily: Well, then he's stupid. Can you believe Daniel had the audacity to say that he did it for me? To pay for summer school? I mean, I don't even think that he realizes how wrong it was.
Adrian: Lily, you have to report this. Immediately.
Colleen: He's right. We can drive you to the police station.
Lily: No, no, I can't.
Adrian: Look, I know you don't wanna get Daniel in trouble, but if you don't report this, if you conceal the kidnapping, you're not only aiding and abetting, you could be putting amber's life in more danger than it already might be.
Lily: Listen, I told my dad everything. So he'll know what to do.
Gloria: Now that we're all together, I would like to tell you about the party I'm planning in William's honor.
Phyllis: You mean memorial service, right?
Gloria: No, I mean a celebration of his life, Phyllis.
Lauren: Oh, that's nice.
Lauren: What do you have in mind?
Michael: I thought you wanted something small and intimate.
Gloria: I changed my mind, Michael. He deserves something lavish because he touched so many lives. I mean, William must have hundreds of friends in the D.A.'s office and in city and state government.
Michael: And a lot of enemies.
Gloria: I thought we'd rent the athletic club.
Lauren: Oh, yeah, the banquet room is really beautiful.
Gloria: The entire athletic club. Fill it with flowers and all of the out of town guests can stay right here.
Lauren: Wow, uh, I thought maybe you'd want something a little more intimate.
Gloria: No. I lost a wonderful man way too soon. I wanna give him a send-off befitting of his stature. You know, he loved classical music but he also loved the Beatles. Did you know that, Lauren?
Lauren: Yeah, you told me a few times.
Gloria: I was thinking I'd hire Paul McCartney to sing.
Michael: Last time I checked he wasn't doing private parties.
Phyllis: Yeah, and even if he were, Gloria, um, I doubt you could afford him.
Gloria: Au contraire, Phyllis. You see, my husband left me a sizeable estate. Jack and Ashley robbed me of doing anything for John, but not this time. Because I'm in control of the money.
Neil: You know something? I've had enough of this. I'm calling the police.
Daniel: No, the note said no cops.
Neil: Yeah, I suppose if the note said to jump off a building, you'd do that, too?
Cane: I can't believe I got mixed up with you two blokes.
Kevin: All right, look, you don't understand--
Bonacheck: Yes, we do! You're putting a young woman's life in danger. You should've called the authorities the minute you found out she was missing. Make the call. And you could all be charged with theft--
Cane: Wait a minute! Wait a minute!
Bonacheck: Which in Wisconsin is a class "G" felony.
Cane: I had nothing to do with this.
Bonacheck: And because of the amount of money involved, you could all be facing up to ten years in prison.
Daniel: Wait a minute, ten years?
Bonacheck: So why don't you all start cooperating? Where's Plum?
Kevin: I'm not saying a word until my lawyer gets here.
Gloria: And I would like you two ladies to help me with the menu.
Lauren: Mmm, okay, well, with that many people, you probably want a variety of food. You know, maybe some food stations with some of William's favorite foods. What were they?
Gloria: He loved Greek. He loved everything Greek.
Phyllis: Well, you better make it soon. I might not be able to enjoy the party.
Michael: All right, stop. Banned subject.
Gloria: Thank you, Michael.
(Cell phone ringing)
Michael: Do I have your permission to answer that?
Gloria: Mm-hmm. Just make it quick.
Lauren: It's your lucky day.
Michael: Mm-hmm. Baldwin.
Kevin: Oh, thank God you answered. It's me.
Michael: We've been wondering where you are. You're missing a good meal.
Kevin: Michael, I'm in serious trouble.
Michael: Why am I not surprised?
Kevin: I had no one else to call. How fast can you make it to my apartment?
Michael: Kevin, I--
Kevin: I wouldn't have called if it wasn't an emergency. Please? And don't say anything to the others, just hurry.
Michael: I'm on my way.
Lauren: Is there a problem?
Michael: Kevin's car broke down.
Gloria: Kevin doesn't have a car.
Lauren: Yeah, not since he smashed it into a tree.
Michael: It's a rental. The battery died or something and he's stuck out over at Central and 29th. Couldn't get in touch with the tow company. I'm gonna go help him out.
Gloria: And what about your dinner?
Michael: Oh, wrap up some leftovers, will you, Baby?
Lauren: Wait a minute, you're not coming back?
Michael: I might have to finish up some work at the office. Don't wait up.
Lauren: How late do you think you're gonna be?
Michael: Uh, don't know. I will give you a call. All right, bye. Bye! Bye-bye!
Neil: I'm still on hold.
Bonacheck: You lawyered up because you were in on it, weren't you?
Kevin: In on what?
Bonacheck: The stolen money. Was Plum an accomplice? Did you--did you take the woman as part of your plan?
Cane: All right, look, this is getting ridiculous, okay? You're not dragging me down with you. I don't know anything about this. I only found out today and I sure as hell have not committed any crimes.
Bonacheck: Can you make the same claim for your wife?
Cane: No. No. I don't know if they dragged her in or if she was an instigator.
Bonacheck: Will you tell me everything you know?
Cane: If it'll help you find Amber, yes, I'm all for it.
Bonacheck: I gather from some of your remarks that you and your wife are estranged?
Cane: I just found out she's a con artist.
Bonacheck: Yeah, but you know her pretty well, correct?
Cane: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know anymore. I don't know if she's ever told me the truth about anything. I don't know if her name is Amber Moore. But she is the one that introduced me to Plum.
Bonacheck: What can you tell me about him?
Cane: Um, when he first showed up, she said he was her cousin, then she later confessed it was her ex-boyfriend from Los Angeles.
Bonacheck: And you say you don't know where your wife is?
Cane: Look, okay, the truth is, I don't know if I still feel for the girl, but with my luck she could've faked the kidnapping, so it was a ruse to take the money. I don't--
Bonacheck: Let's just assume for the moment that-- that she has been kidnapped.
Cane: Well, if that's the case, you need to go and talk to Carson.
Bonacheck: Who's Carson?
Cane: He's this guy who came to town looking for Plum. We're pretty certain he's after the money.
Bonacheck: Well, you know his last name? Where I can find him?
Cane: No. No. If anyone has a motive for taking Amber, it's him. And we were about to go and try and track him down when you turned up. I don't know, okay?
Bonacheck: What about this Plum character? Where can I find him?
Cane: Laying at the morgue on a slab with a broken neck.
Bonacheck: How did that happen?
Cane: I don't know. Ask those two guys, they'll say it's an accident.
Bonacheck: You suspect that they might've killed him?
Cane: I don't know. Nothing surprises me anymore, okay?
Neil: The police are on their way.
Neil: Daniel, it is taking every ounce of restraint I have not to knock you into next week.
Kevin: All right, all right, let's not get crazy here.
Neil: Shut up, Kevin!
Daniel: You know what? I admit that I screwed up.
Neil: Screwed up? How's it feel, Daniel? One screw up after another. Since the day that my Lily met you, you have caused her nothing but heartache!
Daniel: I know.
Neil: And to make matters worse, now you drag my son in with you. He could've been killed.
Daniel: I know it's gone too far, and that's why I told Lily.
Neil: You listen to me. I know that break-in was about the money you stole!
Daniel: You know, I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt! I didn't mean--
Neil: You never meant to! I have given you chance after chance and what do you do? You blow it every time. I want you to stay away from my daughter. I am warning you now, Daniel, stay away from Lily. Otherwise, you're gonna have to answer to me! Unless the police get you first!
Lily: Daniel has been acting like a crazy person. But what if he's always been like this?
Colleen: Lily, I don't believe that. I just thought that he was a good person.
Adrian: Well, how well did you know him before you got married?
Lily: Well, I thought I knew everything. But maybe he's been doing bad stuff all along and just never got caught.
Colleen: Like the whole internet thing?
Adrian: How many hours a day do you think he spends online?
Lily: I don't know, like one or two?
Adrian: Is that what he told you?
Lily: Yeah. And he said that he deleted all the bad stuff.
Adrian: Okay, and after that, how often was he online?
Lily: A few hours, sometimes more. Oh, my gosh, how could I not see it? I just trusted him so much. And now that I think about it, there were times when I would wake up in the middle of the night and come downstairs and he would be on the computer and he said that he was studying.
Adrian: And you ignored this for how long?
Lily: Too long. Every time he messed up, I... I would forgive him.
Colleen: That's not your fault. I mean, come on, he could explain his way out of anything.
Lily: I know, he just sounded so sincere. And he convinced me that it would never happen again.
Adrian: It's a compulsion. You know, a destructive behavior that he probably acquired as a method of managing life's pressures.
Lily: Yeah, but why this? And why us?
Colleen: He had us all fooled.
Lily: It's like, when I'm not around him, I just wanna forgive him and start all over. And then as soon as I see him, I just... I get so... angry. And it's like I think about all the things that he's done to me. And I think how could he do that to me? You know, and I obsess about where he is and what he's doing. And I'm checking up on him behind his back. It's like I can never relax. And I always assume that he's doing the worst, even when he's not. It's tiring. And I not only hate him, but I hate myself. And I... I hate the person that I've become. I just... I wanna be normal again.
Michael: All right, somebody... all right, somebody clue me in. What's going on?
Neil: Your brother and my son-in-law are the two most destructive self-serving individuals I have ever met.
Michael: Thank you. And now can you tell me what they did?
Bonacheck: Ah, you're Mr. Fisher's lawyer, I presume?
Michael: Michael Baldwin. And you are?
Bonacheck: John Bonacheck, U.S. Treasury agent.
Michael: What are you doing here?
Bonacheck: I'm investigating a crime which I believe your client and his friend are involved in. And Mr. Fisher wouldn't answer my questions unless there was an attorney present.
Michael: Good man. I taught him well.
Bonacheck: You realize the serious position that these young men are in?
Michael: And what about Mr. Ashby?
Bonacheck: No, Mr. Ashby is not a suspect. In fact, he's been very forthcoming. But I can't say the same about Mr. Romalotti.
Michael: Do you have an attorney coming?
Michael: Okay, I will represent him, too.
Bonacheck: We've also... we've also just reported the kidnapping.
Michael: All right, what? Who? Who's the victim?
Bonacheck: Mr. Ashby's wife.
Michael: If you would excuse me for a moment. I would like to confer with my clients, please. Thank you. Thank you.
Michael: Kidnapping? Kidnapping?! Please tell me you had nothing to do with this.
Kevin: Well, sort of.
Daniel: I can explain.
Michael: No, just--damn it! What have you gotten yourself into this time?
Phyllis: Too bad Michael had to leave.
Lauren: Yeah, I'm used to it. He's always on call.
Gloria: And I'm very proud of him. I'm proud of both of my sons. They have excellent jobs. They're intelligent. They're handsome.
Phyllis: You should be proud.
Gloria: You both have sons. You should understand.
Lauren: And we do. In fact, I have two of the smartest guys that ever lived.
Phyllis: Yeah, I understand, too. Daniel's being very responsible. I think he's finally taking his marriage seriously.
Gloria: Yeah. I've been worried about Kevin for such a long time, but I think he's finally turned himself around. So, ladies, to our boys.
Phyllis: Oh, to our boys.
Kevin: Would you say something?
Michael: I cannot conceive of how moronic you can be.
Kevin: Maybe we shouldn't have kept the money.
Michael: Maybe? Ya think?!
Daniel: Okay, you know what? It was stupid.
Michael: Stupid? No, that wasn't stupid. Stupid was hiding that man's body on hospital grounds! That was stupid!
Kevin: He was already dead.
Michael: Swear to me you did not kill this man.
Kevin: We didn't. Michael, he was dead when we found him.
Michael: Did it ever occur to you to call 9-1-1? Maybe he could've been saved? Did it occur to you?
Kevin: There was not a chance in hell he was gonna be saved.
Michael: This is impossible! Are you trying to make my job harder? Do you hate me as a brother? Do you still hate me--?
Daniel: He doesn't hate you as a brother, okay? Look, can you just yell at us later? Can we figure out how we're gonna find Amber?
Maggie: Mr. Baldwin? It's Maggie Sullivan!
Michael: I'll be right out! Oh... we're gonna find Amber. But follow my lead, let me do the talking.
Neil: Well, if there's nothing further, Detective Sullivan, I'd like to get back to my daughter.
Maggie: Oh, of course, you go right ahead, Mr. Winters, and thank you.
Neil: No, thank you. Mr. Bonacheck.
Cane: Shouldn't we have people out looking for Amber?
Maggie: Well, we've already notified search and rescue.
Michael: Detective Sullivan.
Maggie: Mr. Baldwin.
Michael: Mmm. You've been filled in?
Maggie: Every last little detail.
Bonacheck: And what's your feeling about the missing woman?
Cane: Please keep in mind what I told you.
Daniel: You know what? Seriously, what is your problem? I mean, she makes one little mistake and you just throw her to the wolves, huh?
Cane: It's not like that.
Daniel: Who cares if she comes home, right?
Cane: It's not like that.
Kevin: How's it like, Bloke?
Cane: Why don't you ask him? How many times did she lie to me, Daniel?
Kevin: Why don't you just shut up help us look for her?
Michael: Hey, hey, hey!
Maggie: You know what? Let's all take a breath. And before I can proceed any further, I'm going to need to hear what Mr. Fisher and Mr. Romalotti have to say.
Michael: Well, under normal circumstances, I wouldn't allow you to question them, but since a woman's life may be at stake, that takes precedence over everything.
Adrian: Well, she can crash here with Colleen. I'll take the couch, keep watch.
Neil: Thanks. I appreciate your hospitality, but I'd feel safer having her with me.
Lily: Did you call the police?
Neil: Yes, I did. And now the U.S. Treasury Department is in on it.
Lily: Wait, why?
Neil: I'll tell you all about it on the way home. Daniel won't be able to talk his way out of this one. Say good-bye, all right?
Colleen: Hey... call me later, okay?
Lily: Okay, I will. Thank you.
Adrian: The U.S. Treasury Department?
Colleen: Don't look at me.
Adrian: Are you involved in this? Because if they're gonna be knocking on my door next, I'd like a head's up.
Michael: What? What is it?
Daniel: I need a favor. Can you not tell my mom about this, please?
Michael: Oh, oh, no, I'll pretty much be forced to tell your mom.
Daniel: She's already stressed out enough with the trial. If she hears about this, I don't know what it's gonna do to her.
Michael: I am doing this for her, not for you.
Gloria: I think it's kinda nice, just the girls.
Phyllis: Speak for yourself.
Gloria: Oh, come on, Phyllis, I'm just saying we don't have to watch every word we say. We can talk about things that don't interest them.
Lauren: You have some sort of risqué joke you'd like to tell or something?
Phyllis: Yeah, please, please tell it. I could use a joke.
Gloria: Actually, I know hundreds of them. I just can't remember the punch lines.
Lauren: Well, that's a problem. You kinda need that, don't you think? Well, now that you've got money, you can always hire writers for your material.
Phyllis: You know, I think there are more productive things to do with your money.
Gloria: I think you're right, Phyllis. I want to invest some of William's money. You know, make it work for me. Here's an idea for you, Lauren. Why don't I invest in your new store in Clear Springs? The travel magazines are already writing about it becoming the next vacation hot spot.
(Cell phone ringing)
Lauren: I'm sorry, do you mind? I just wanna make sure it's not the babysitter. Hello?
Michael: Hey, Beautiful, it's me.
Lauren: Did you rescue your brother?
Michael: Yeah, we're at his apartment now.
Lauren: Mm-hmm. So you're on your way home soon?
Michael: Um, not right away. I still have a lot of stuff to do at the office.
Lauren: Do you want me to wait up for you? I don't mind.
Michael: No, no, no, no, no. I'll probably be late.
Phyllis: Hey, hey, hey, tell him not to forget his day job.
Lauren: Yeah, uh, Phyllis is saying not to forget your day job.
Michael: Yeah, tell Phyllis not to worry. I'll be a fire-breathing dragon in the courtroom tomorrow.
Lauren: Okay. Bye.
Gloria: Just like William. Michael works too hard.
Lauren: Well, he thrives on it.
Gloria: You know the best part of all of this?
Phyllis: What would that be, Gloria?
Gloria: I finally have a legacy to leave my sons.
Kevin: So tell me the truth. There's no getting out of this, is there?
Maggie: Okay, answer it. It could be the kidnappers.
Colleen: It's me. Lily just left with her father and I heard some of what's going on. Kevin, I'm worried about you.
Kevin: Look, I can't talk right now.
Colleen: Hey! Hi. You scared me.
Adrian: How can such a smart woman continuously put herself in precarious positions?
Colleen: I just called to see--
Adrian: How the thief was doing? The guy who is involved in a kidnapping and felony after felony? How far are you gonna let this go before you realize the damage you're inflicting on yourself and everyone around you?
Lily: It's like I just don't get it, Dad. It's like... a day ago my husband and I were planning to go to a couples retreat. You know, we were-- we were happy and laughing and everything just felt... normal. Or so I thought. And Daniel convinced me that things were gonna go back to how they were, you know? But maybe there never was a before. Daniel has always been self-destructive. It just took me a long time to see that. And now he's wrecked our relationship and he's gonna ruin his life if he goes to prison!
Neil: Honey, I... I am so sorry.
Lily: What if he's arrested? This is such a nightmare!
Neil: You know that I'm here to help you through this, right?
Lily: I know. And I wouldn't blame you if you said, "I told you so."
Neil: No, no, no, come on. I thought he had changed, too.
Lily: It's like I thought that we were so grown up. And that we could handle anything together. But you know what? You were right. You were right about him. And you were right about everything. I was too young to get married. And I made a horrible, horrible mistake.
Maggie: Okay, can you tell me a little bit more about this Carson fellow?
Daniel: He's got a rap sheet.
Kevin: And he carries a piece. Comes off like a friendly guy, but I think it's just an act.
Daniel: He's got files on me, on Kevin, on Amber-- all kinds of stuff in there. I mean, where we hang out, what we like, everything.
Bonacheck: I won't even ask how you know that.
Maggie: Okay, we'll start with him. Nothing checks out, we'll look into your wife and see if she's behind any of this.
Cane: I wouldn't put it past her.
Maggie: All right, well, we'll try to bring her home safe. And I hope for her sake, she's not behind any of this. Because I will make sure that she gets a cell at county.
Cane: Which she deserves.
Amber: Help, somebody! Help me! Anybody, please! Come on! Come on, please! Oh, God.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Brad: Phyllis is responsible for everything that goes down.
Devon: Maybe now my sister will finally dump you.
Neil: Why do you keep a file on my son-in-law?
Carson: Why do you think I need to answer to you?
