Jack: All the news reports said that there were no survivors.

Sharon: The photographer had to cancel the shoot. I tried to call your phone. It went straight to voicemail.

Jack: All I've been thinking about is what I never said to you. How I treated you. How I don't deserve you.

Sharon: Jack, that's not true. You're my husband.

Jack: I'm gonna make this marriage right. I promise you.

Sharon: Jack, what's going on with you?

Jack: Nick was on the plane, wasn't he?

Sharon: He had some work to do in Clear Springs.

Jack: I know.

Ben: Thank you, Mrs. Martinez.

Jack: Um, uh, in here.

Ben: Sharon?

Sharon: Hi, Ben, hi.

Ben: Sharon? Wow, uh... I have to alert the press.

Jack: You alert everyone. My beautiful wife is alive.

Ben: You know, uh... I'll--I'll reissue a new statement that everyone's okay. You know, Jack, we could spin this miracle to our advantage-- two opponents united in grief--

Jack: Ben--Ben--Ben... this is not a miracle. Nicholas Newman was on the plane that went down.

Brad: Here, drink this.

Victoria: I'm not thirsty.

Brad: Then eat something.

Victoria: I'm not hungry.

Brad: Victoria, I wanna help. Tell me what I can do for you.

Victoria: Nothing.

Brad: There's gotta be something I can do. Something you want.

Victoria: I want my brother back.

Karen: In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that people would send a donation. To Cassie's Challenge. Yes, someone from Newman has been in contact with the families of the pilots. Two of them. That's great.

David: That's it.

(Doorbell rings)

Man: Mr. Newman, I'm Captain Devitt, United States Coast Guard.

Victor: Did you find my son?

Devitt: We have not located the aircraft or your son, Mr. Newman.

Nikki: Maybe the plane that crashed wasn't ours?

Devitt: Your plane dropped off air traffic control's radar and the tower lost contact. Now, the NTSB is investigating as we speak, but there's just no evidence to support an alternate scenario.

Victor: Thank you, Officer. Thank you for the report. I'm gonna... go to the crash site myself.

Phyllis: Um... hey, uh, Noah, I need to tell you something about your--your parent's trip.

Noah: Um, they're not gonna be gone a long time, are they? Dad promised we could take the horses out when he got back.

(Telephone ringing)

Phyllis: Hello? Hi, Victor. Oh, my God! Wait, she... that it was-- was Nick... you're going there? Okay, well, I wanna go with you. Well, then call me the minute you find out, please? Thank you. Um... that--that was Victor. Uh, Sharon is with Jack. Her--her photo shoot was canceled.

Noah: Mom's home already?

Michael: Uh, you know what, Noah? Uh, I was talking about, um, let's do some reading? You know, I saw some "Great brain" books lying around upstairs. Hey, Daniel!

Daniel: Hey.

Phyllis: Hey.

Daniel: Mom, I am so, so...

Michael: You know, that used to be my favorite set of books when I was your age. What was your favorite character?

Noah: Uh, I guess Tom Dennis.

Michael: Oh, Tom Dennis?

Daniel: Noah...

Noah: Oh, hi, Daniel. Um, have you ever read "The Great Brain"?

Daniel: I think I missed that one.

Noah: Um, well, it's about this boy who lived a long time ago and his older brother was, like, a total genius.

Daniel: You know what? I think I do remember that. And you know, I think that they based the genius character on me.

Noah: Yeah, right!

Daniel: Hey, uh, listen, I saw a bunch of fireflies outside. You wanna run out and catch some with me?

Noah: Yeah, uh, cool! Um, may I go, Phyllis?

Phyllis: Oh, yeah, sure, go ahead. Have fun.

Noah: Cool!

Michael: Have fun.

Michael: Sharon?

Phyllis: The photo shoot was canceled. Sharon wasn't on the plane.

Michael: So...

Phyllis: Nick... Nick was on the plane. Oh, my God!

Sharon: I have to call Noah. He's at the tack house. He's with Phyllis.

Jack: We'll call right now.

Sharon: Okay.

Ben: All right. Uh, I'm gonna put on a pot of coffee. (Telephone ringing)

Jack: Oh...

Ben: No, I got it. Abbott's residence. Christina, how'd you get this number? Yeah, I know you have a deadline. But you know what? This is way out of line. I'll send you a statement when I can. All right, that's it.

Jack: Don't disconnect that. My family may be trying to reach me.

Ben: Okay, we'll handle this however you want. I just wanna give you the breathing room you need. Tell me how to do it.

Jack: You're doing great right now, thanks.

Ben: All right. I'm gonna reissue a statement from you shortly. Okay, and this is what I have so far, "Along with everyone who knew him, I mourn the death of my valued friend and colleague Nick Newman. My wife and I wish to convey our deepest sympathy to his parents and sister. We share in the Newman family's grief."

Jack: Thanks. That's a lot better than anything I would've put together. Thank you.

Ben: All right, if there's anything else you need, let me know.

Sharon: I, uh, I'm gonna-- I'm gonna call Noah.

Jack: Yeah.

Sharon: Okay.

Sharon: Phyllis, its Sharon.

Phyllis: Hi, Sharon. It's good to hear your voice.

Sharon: I'm so sorry... about...

Phyllis: I'm glad you're okay.

Sharon: Is Noah there?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Sharon: What have you told him?

Phyllis: Nothing. I don't know what to tell him.

Sharon: Okay, I'm gonna be right there.

Jack: Hey, I'm coming.

Sharon: Jack, how am I gonna do it? How am I gonna tell my son that he's lost his father?

Kay: The whole trip over I was just praying that it was a mistake-- a terrible mistake.

Nikki: It is. It is.

Victoria: Sharon, um, Sharon is alive. She--she wasn't on the plane. She got off before it left.

Kay: Oh, thank God.

Victoria: So she's...

Kay: Uh, Nicholas?

David: We have a brief statement that we'd like to release.

Karen: It's the only way we can get the press to back off.

Nikki: Can't it wait, please?

David: I know it's the last thing you wanna do right now, so if you want, we could make the changes ourselves.

Brad: Victor, uh, I could review it for you.

Victor: Let me read this.

David: Sure.

Victor: "The Newman family appreciates the public's support in the wake of this tragedy." Say, "During this uncertain time."

David: Absolutely. It's done.

Nikki: Well, we'd better get going.

Victor: Sweetheart, one of us should be here in case there's some news.

Nikki: Victoria's here.

Kay: Darling, listen to me, Victor's absolutely right. You should be right here with your family.

Victoria: I... uh... I have some people that I need to call.

Brad: Who? I'll take care of it.

Victoria: My... my Aunt Casey, Uncle Matt. I think that, um, hope would wanna know and Neil and, um... Nick has some friends from--from college. I think Sharon has their numbers. Um... I need to find my address book. I think it's in my purse here somewhere, so...

Brad: Here, here, here, listen, listen... I'll find it, okay? You go upstairs, get some rest.

Victoria: No. I can't.

Brad: I'm gonna call your doctor. We'll get you a prescription for a sedative, okay?

Victoria: No. I don't wanna sleep. I wanna be right here. I wanna be right here with my family in case anything happens.

Michael: Sharon, I'm so glad you're all right.

Sharon: Thank you, Michael.

Jack: Hey... anything you need, call.

Noah: Mom, where's Dad? I thought you guys went on the same trip together.

Summer: (Cries)

Michael: Oh, no, Summer...

Phyllis: No, I'll take care of it. I need to.

Sharon: I didn't end up having to go on the trip.

Noah: I know. Phyllis told me.

Sharon: Jack and I are here to take you home. Let's go.

Noah: But I was having fun with Daniel.

Jack: You know what? Your mom's so happy to be home, because she wants to spend some time with you.

Noah: Is the basketball court at your house set up?

Jack: Almost.

Noah: Bye, Michael. Bye, Daniel.

Michael: Take care.

Daniel: Listen, um, if he needs someone to talk to, a friend or anything, just...

Sharon: Thank you, Daniel.

Daniel: Yeah.

Noah: Wait! I caught a bunch of fireflies with Daniel. I need to pick some grass for them to eat.

Daniel: Why don't you just let me take care of that, okay, buddy?

Noah: Awesome. Thanks, Daniel.

Daniel: Yeah.

Noah: I can't wait to show Dad when he gets home.

Kay: Darling, can I get you some tea or something?

Nikki: No, thank you.

Kay: Honey, just realize nothing is going to make sense right now.

Nikki: I... it's just a horrible accident. (Sighs) I blamed Victor. I knew that he had sent Nicholas on this trip. I said terrible things.

Kay: But you didn't mean it.

Nikki: This is my son. He's young. He's young and smart and he has a little baby. It's not right. It should have been me, Katherine. If God had to take somebody, he should've taken me.

Kay: No, no, no, no, no.

Nikki: Yes.

Kay: Shh.

Michael: Hi.

Lily: Hi. Phyllis, hi.

Phyllis: Hey, Lily.

Lily: I'm so sorry.

Phyllis: Oh, thank you.

Lily: I'm so sorry. Look, if you need any help, just let me know. I'm your girl, okay?

Phyllis: Your being here helps, okay?

Lily: Hey, all I heard was that Nick's plane crashed.

Daniel: I don't know much more than you do.

Michael: Phyllis spoke to Victor earlier. The plane dropped off the radar.

Lily: So there's no sign of Nick?

Michael: What are you doing?

Phyllis: I'm--I'm gonna call the main house.

Michael: Let me call them.

Phyllis: No, no, no, I got it.

(Telephone ringing)

Nikki: Hello?

Phyllis: Hey, Nikki, it's Phyllis. Do you know anything more?

Nikki: Are you and the baby alone? You should come up to the main house, be with the family.

Phyllis: Mnh-mnh. No, we're not alone. We're not alone. I mean, Michael and Daniel and Lily are here.

Nikki: There is no news. Victor's gone to the crash site to try to get some answers.

Phyllis: He told me. Do you think there's a chance...?

Nikki: If this is my one chance to pray for a miracle, I'm using it.

Phyllis: So am I.

Noah: Dad is so into bugs. This one time, he found a tarantula near the stables and he picked it up and let it crawl all over him. Then I touched it. Did you know they're furry?

Jack: I do now. So did you let it crawl all over you?

Noah: No way!

Jack: Hey, you know what? I'll bet you got pretty thirsty chasing after those fireflies.

Noah: A little.

Jack: Uh, why don't you go in the kitchen, get something to drink.

Sharon: What I never hear him laugh like that ever again?

Jack: You will. You will.

Sharon: Jack, if I hadn't gotten off that plane, Noah would've lost both of his parents. He already lost his sister. How am I supposed to tell him that now his father is gone, too? He's ten years old, Jack!

Jack: If it would be easier, maybe you should wait till the morning.

Sharon: No, no, the one thing that I learned when Cassie died was the best way to deal with him is just be honest with him right from the start.

Jack: It's late. One night won't make a big difference. If you tell him now, he's not gonna sleep.

Sharon: But it's all over the news! What if he hears it from a friend or online? I can't take that chance. I gotta tell him right now.

Phyllis: He never got my message. He--he didn't get my message. Summer--Summer said "Dada."

Daniel: Was that her first word?

Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah. She said it when I was talking to him on his voicemail, but he didn't hear it.

Lily: No, Phyllis, Nick knew how much you and Summer loved him. He did.

Daniel: You know, he called me "Son" when he saved me from the ice storm?

Phyllis: He did? Well, see, that's how he felt about you.

Lily: Oh, look at you. Summer has Nick's eyes. You have your daddy's eyes, don't you? Yeah, you do.

Michael: See, Nick is here with us.

Lily: Yeah.

Michael: See, he's gonna be in his daughter and you have him here in Noah.

Noah: I wanna take tae kwon do lessons so I can kick butt like those guys in the movie.

Jack: Oh, I'm not sure your mother would love the idea of your kicking everyone's butt.

Noah: Well, for defense. What if someone tries to grab me? I can fight 'em off.

Sharon: Honey... I have to talk to you about something.

Noah: Is this about us moving in with Jack again?

Sharon: No. This about your father. After I got off that plane, it took off and... your father stayed on it.

Noah: So?

Sharon: Well, there was an accident.

Noah: What kind of accident? Where's Dad?!

Sharon: His plane... his plane went down.

Noah: What -what? It crashed?!

Sharon: Yeah. Come here.

Sharon: Noah? Whatever you're thinking or you're feeling, I want you to tell me, okay? I loved your daddy very much and I'll understand.

Noah: How did he die? Did he drown?

Sharon: We don't really know. The plane did go into a lake, so that could be what happened.

Noah: Did they find him yet?

Jack: No, the coast guard is still looking for him and for the two pilots.

Noah: Did they die, too?

Sharon: Probably. You know, it was a long way down.

Noah: Did it-- did it hurt Dad?

Sharon: I don't know. I can tell you that he didn't suffer because it happened fast.

Noah: I want him here! I don't want him in heaven!

Jack: It's okay to be sad. When my dad died... I cried a lot. I still do, sometimes.

Noah: This is all my fault.

Sharon: No, it isn't. Why would you say that?

Noah: Because... because I was so mad with you marrying Jack, and Dad marrying Phyllis that I wished for something to happen that would just stop it all!

Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa, this had nothing to do with you. This was an accident.

Noah: Then how come all these bad things keep happening? First Cassie, then you almost drowned, and now Dad. I mean, who's my family now?

Sharon: I am. And Jack, your grandparents. You have your aunt Victoria and we're all gonna take care of you. And don't forget, you're also Summer's big brother. And we love you very much.

Phyllis: You guys... listen, go--go home. You need some rest. I'll call on you soon enough, believe me.

Daniel: You know, we can take Summer if you want tonight.

Phyllis: No, no, no, I want her with me.

Lily: Well, then why don't we stay here with you tonight then?

Phyllis: That's sweet, but really, I just want you to go home, all right?

Daniel: If you change your mind...

Lily: Yeah.

Phyllis: I'll call on you. I promise.

Lily: It doesn't matter what time it is, just call.

Phyllis: Okay. All right. How'd I get such a good son and daughter-in-law?

Daniel: Good genes. Promise me, if you need anything, you will come to me.

Phyllis: I promise.

Daniel: Okay. Come here. Bye-bye. Okay.

Lily: All right.

Phyllis: Bye.

Lily: Good night, Phyllis.

Phyllis: Good night.

Michael: Bye, guys.

Lily: Bye.

Daniel: Bye.

Michael: Sure. Summer is fast asleep.

Phyllis: Go home, all right? It's been a long day. Go home to your wife and baby.

Michael: You trying to get rid of me already? I'm not going anywhere tonight.

David: No. No bodies have been found as of yet.

Victoria: I have to go for a drive, okay? I'll--I'll... I'll take my parents' car.

Brad: Take--take my car. I'll stay here and wait for you.

Victoria: Go home, Brad! I wanna be alone.

Nikki: Listen, you two should go. It's getting late.

Kay: No, no, I am not leaving you alone.

Nikki: I'm all talked out.

David: Well, you know, I'm never at a loss for words. I can help.

Nikki: I'm grateful that you're both here, but... I just wanna be alone.

Kay: Darling, I can sleep in the guest room until Victor comes back.

Nikki: I appreciate the gesture, but, no. No.

David: All right, okay. The boss has spoken. We'll leave.

Nikki: Thanks.

Kay: Have any temptations?

Nikki: No. Don't worry, I'm not gonna take a drink.

Kay: Good. You take care. I love you.

Nikki: I love you.

Kay: All right.

Nikki: Thank you.

Daniel: I wonder what Mom said to Nick before he left.

Lily: I'm sure she said I love you.

Daniel: I love you.

Lily: I love you, too.

Daniel: Whoa, whoa, what?

Lily: I love you, I do, but I... I hate you. I hate what you did. I hate that we fight and I hate that you can't understand how I feel.

Daniel: Okay, I do understand. Lily, I understand and I swear to you... I never met with anyone from online.

Lily: Daniel, you can't keep doing this-- all these secrets and lies.

Daniel: I know. I know. And I promise... it stops right here, right now.

Lily: How can I believe you? You said the same thing to me before.

Daniel: Because I mean it. Okay? I saw how that made you feel and it killed me inside. And I don't ever wanna feel that again. Lily, I love you more than anything in this entire world. And I would do anything for you. And I don't wanna lose you.

Michael: There you go. One custom made sofa bed.

Phyllis: Thank you. I can't, uh, sleep in that bed upstairs. I can't, I...

Michael: You need-- you need some rest, just like I do. Because I'm--I'm going to be sleeping in this... big, comfortable chair. Oh, fun! It's good. It's comfortable.

Phyllis: You're not gonna sleep there. You'll hurt your back.

Michael: Call me a chiropractor. Make an appointment.

Phyllis: You have a wife and baby.

Michael: And I have you as a friend. So what's your point?

Phyllis: Go home, Michael.

Michael: No. I'm tired. I'm staying. Oh, you know what? Let me tuck you in. Come here. I'm good at this. Come on!

Phyllis: I have not been tucked in since the first grade.

Michael: Well, you don't know what you're missing, because I am the most... amazing tucker that you'll ever know.

Phyllis: Thank you.

Michael: It's gonna be really great. Wait...

Phyllis: Thank you. Oh, I'm in.

Michael: You're in.

Phyllis: I'm in, thank you.

Michael: There you go.

Phyllis: I used to worry about E. Coli.

Michael: Oh, wow, you're all over the place.

Phyllis: I did. I did.

Michael: Okay.

Phyllis: You know, all those people dying when they eat raw vegetables. I used to wash the lettuce leaves before I ate a salad.

Michael: Mm-hmm. A little OCD, huh?

Phyllis: When Nick and I first went to New Mexico, we hit... we hit a bunch of turbulence. I was crazy afraid and Nick was hysterical-- making fun of me. But we landed safely and everything was okay and I wasn't afraid of flying anymore. My fears were justified because I didn't feel like I had control. We follow the rules. We work so hard to be healthy. We exercise. But it doesn't really matter. Because no matter how hard you try, you never really have control, do you?

Jack: I'm kinda surprised to see you here tonight.

Kay: Well, I spent the evening with Nikki, and I thought that I would check on Sharon. I'm on my way home.

Jack: Well, she's upstairs with Noah. He just learned about Nick.

Kay: That poor little kid. He's really been through it, hasn't he?

Jack: Yeah.

Kay: Well, you know what, Jack? Give her my best and, uh, make sure you do tell her I stopped by.

Jack: I promise. Katherine, don't-- don't rush off. I--we didn't really get a chance to finish our conversation earlier... about Jabot.

Kay: Oh, Jack, this isn't the time or the place.

Jack: I'm asking on Sharon and Noah's behalf. Their lives can't take another scandal. Allow me to sell you Jabot for their sake.

Kay: Well, I certainly wouldn't be doing it for you.

Jack: Katherine, if you need to think about this, take all the time you need. I have to go back on the campaign trail for a couple of days. There are a couple of appearances I--

Kay: Jack, you know what? You know what? Let's end this right now. Have you got a pen?

Jack: Katherine, Jabot is worth five times this.

Kay: I know that. But that... is my one and only offer.

Jack: It's a deal.

Kay: Well, fine, I will have my lawyers draw up the papers in the morning. And at no point, will I acknowledge the fact that you were the owner. Ji Min will sign all the necessary documents regarding the sales. And as far as the rest of the world is concerned, Jabot was his company.

Sharon: Hi, Katherine.

Kay: Hello, Darling.

Jack: Hey. Is Noah asleep?

Sharon: Yeah, he, uh... cried so hard he wore himself out.

Kay: I, uh, simply wanted to, um, extend my condolences in person. I... I am so sorry about Nicholas, so sorry.

Sharon: Thank you.

Kay: You know what? Um, I probably should be going.

Sharon: Thank you so much for stopping by. Um... excuse me, I'm just gonna make some tea.

Jack: As soon as you have the paperwork drawn up, I'd love to have it. I'd love to get this over with as soon as possible.

Kay: We'll be in touch.

Daniel: Here, come here.

Lily: What are you doing?

Daniel: I just thought that these might help you to relax a little bit.

Lily: I remember you bought these for me for no reason.

Daniel: Oh, no reason, right. How many mornings did you run into the bathroom barefoot and go yelping because the floor was cold?

Lily: What? That was one time.

Daniel: I think it was more than once.

Lily: Okay, maybe it was twice. But I didn't have to do anything about it. That's why I have you.

Daniel: If you still want me.

[Lily remembering]

Lily: Are you kidding me?

Lily: You have a wife, you jerk!

Lily: Wait, I... I can't.

Daniel: What?

Lily: I can't do this.

Sharon: Noah's still seeing his therapist. I remember after one session she mentioned this online message board for kids who have lost people in their lives and it helps them connect to others who know what they're going through.

Jack: You think he'd talk to them?

Sharon: It's worth a shot.

Jack: Yeah. I think we need to call the principal. His teachers should know about this.

(Doorbell rings)

Jack: Oh, what now?

Sharon: Here, I'll get it.

Sharon: Hi, Brad.

Jack: Hello, Brad.

Brad: I'm, uh, I'm on my way home. I wanted to stop by, see how Noah was doing.

Sharon: He's having a really hard time understanding right now. How's Victoria?

Brad: Well, she needed a little, uh... time alone. Well, I'm glad you're okay. Just wanted you to know I was thinking about you both.

Sharon: It means a lot.

Jack: Don't worry, Brad, I'm taking good care of them.

Brad: I should go.

Victoria: I-I came back to get--to get my sweater.

J.T.: It's right here.

Victoria: I was, um... driving my father's car around and I ended up here. I hope that's all right.

J.T.: Absolutely.

Victoria: I went 20 miles over the speed limit the whole way. My way of tempting fate, I guess. You can't control that anyway, right?

J.T.: Victoria, I...

Victoria: Don't say it, all right? Because, um... I've already heard every possible variation on, "I'm sorry" already.

J.T.: I was gonna say that I'm glad you're here.

Victoria: I need a drink. A stiff one.

J.T.: Okay. You drink, I get your keys. That's the house rules.

Michael: 236 sheep. 237 sheep. 238--oh, that one's having a little trouble getting over the fence. There you go. 239 sheep.

Phyllis: You don't need to count anymore. I can't sleep anyway. I'm wide awake.

Michael: Well... I can recite the finer points of tort law to you. That usually cures me of my insomnia.

Phyllis: Do you wonder what he was thinking about?

Michael: You really wanna go there?

Phyllis: When the plane went down, do you think he was thinking of me and Summer? Or do you think he was thinking of Sharon and Noah? Do you think his life flashed before his eyes?

Michael: I think he was thinking of a lot of different things.

Phyllis: Do you think he suffered?

Michael: No. No.

Phyllis: Okay. He's never gonna see his daughter grow up. Oh, Michael, I'm so angry. And I'm in so much pain. And I don't understand this. This is not fair. It's not fair.

(Telephone ringing)

Nikki: Victor?

Victor: Hi, my darling.

Nikki: Where are you?

Victor: I was at the site. No signs of a survivor.

Nikki: No. No...

Victor: I'll be home soon, my darling, okay?

(Doorbell rings)

David: I know what you said. I just didn't feel right leaving you alone.

Nikki: He's gone. My son is gone.

Nikki: He's gone.

Victor: Oh, my boy... my boy...

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Michael: I wish I could make this go away for you, Phyllis.

Phyllis: Michael, please, do what you have to do.

Brad: Are you sleeping with J.T.?

Will: I haven't seen much of you lately. Are you avoiding me?
