Daniel: Good morning, Babe. What's for breakfast?
Lily: Make it yourself.
Daniel: Okay, what did I do now?
Lily: Hey. Hey, Dad. Hi.
Lily: Did you sleep well?
Neil: On and off. Uh, a few hours when you add it you know?
Daniel: The air mattress is pretty comfortable though, right?
Neil: Sleep on it much, do you, Daniel?
Lily: He might be sleeping on it permanently.
Neil: Yeah, it's just a little uncomfortable, you know? Because I'm not used to... sleeping alone. Um, I kept waking up, hoping I'd see Dru next to me. Lily, I dreamed about her last night.
Daniel: What was it about?
Lily: So you were up half the night?
Neil: Yeah, I was. I made a few phone calls. I had to check in with the search team to find out how the rescue was progressing. I hope I didn't disturb anyone, walking around.
Daniel: I didnt hear anything.
Neil: Hey, Honey?
Neil: I fixed your doll.
Lily: Oh, Dad, that's amazing! I can't even see where. Thank you!
Neil: You're welcome, Baby. Anything to see that beautiful smiling face.
Lily: Well, I am gonna put you right here where you can't get broken again.
Neil: Thank you for letting me stay here last night.
Daniel: Yeah, crash as long as you like. Right, Lily?
Lily: Yeah, we love having you here, Dad.
Neil: Well, I don't know about that. I might be cramping Devon's style with his dating track record lately.
Lily: No, he loves having you here, too.
Daniel: We all do.
Neil: I'll think about it.
Victor: Jack, I'm sorry I'm late.
Jack: Oh, not at all, not at all. I, uh, just heard from Katherine. She's stuck in traffic. I feel like I should warn you, this could be an exercise in futility.
Victor: Why is that?
Jack: Well, since Katherine forced me to resign from Jabot, she and I haven't exactly been the best of friends.
Victor: Well, I wouldn't worry about that. That's not to be taken personally. I think she is watching out for her company, that's all.
Jack: No, no, I think this is personal. I am no longer on her Christmas card list.
Victor: Jack, you know she is an excellent businesswoman. She knows a good deal when she sees one.
Jack: Well, thank you for being here. I'm not convinced she would make it to this meeting were you not sitting at the table with me.
Victor: Jack, I promised you my support. I will support you. This is your show.
Jack: This could be a hell of a show, Victor. Think about it-- an Abbott/Newman/Chancellor joint venture. Wow!
Victor: Oh, my goodness. Jack, there will be no stopping you then.
Victor: Have a seat, my dear.
Kay: Thank you.
Jack: So how is Jill?
Kay: Mmm. Now why are we here?
Jack: Because I want you to become my business partner.
Phyllis: Hello? Yeah, this is Phyllis. Uh, I'm--I'm sorry, what photos are you talking about? Is this of the N.V.P. shoot? You have photos of the accident? No, no, no, no, I... can I speak to your boss, please? No, you have no right to publish those photos! No, I don't have a com-- you know what? Here's your comment!
Neil: No, no, you listen to me! You don't have my permission to release those pictures. No, stop--stop! I don't care! It's a violation of our privacy!
Daniel: Lily, seriously, what is the matter with you?
Neil: Okay, I'm hanging up the phone now. I'm not speaking to the press anymore.
Lily: Dad, who was that?
Neil: Uh, it's, uh, it's no one. It's someone who calls himself a reporter.
Daniel: Someone trying to publish pictures of Dru?
Neil: Yeah, "Indiscreet."
Lily: Wait, that tabloid magazine?
Daniel: What kind of pictures are they?
Neil: From the accident.
Lily: Wait, they can't do that!
Daniel: I thought that the district attorney confiscated those.
Neil: He did. "Indiscreet" must've paid someone off.
Daniel: It's just not fair.
Lily: You think they'll show Mom...
Neil: Honey, I really-- I don't know.
Daniel: When do they come out?
Neil: Tomorrow. When that magazine hits newsstands, everyone will be able to view pictures of our personal tragedy.
Nick: That is not gonna happen. We are not letting those pictures get out.
Phyllis: The last few days have been hard enough. I can't imagine what will happen if those pictures do get out.
Nick: I'm calling a lawyer.
Phyllis: Anybody who sees those, they'll look at 'em. They'll dissect them and they'll make up stories about what happened.
Nick: Yeah, is Mark there? It's Nick Newman. Look, I'm gonna do whatever I can to make sure those pictures don't go public.
Jack: Katherine, this is not just another N.V.P. retreat. I plan to rebuild and develop a lakeshore resort-- five-star hotels, casinos, tennis courts, golf course. Fenmore's will be the anchor store in a shopping mall. I've talked to the Batali people about bringing in two new restaurants.
Kay: Well, how do you envision Chancellor Industries participating?
Jack: Well, this project will require prodigious amounts of construction. I was hoping with Chancellor Industries' overview we could count on quality.
Kay: Mm-hmm. Well, this sounds very intriguing.
Jack: I haven't added one other thing. This is a chance to bring prosperity to a struggling region and make some sizeable profit ourselves.
Kay: Oh, spoken like a true politician.
Jack: Then you're interested?
Kay: Well, I would be if the deal were with someone else. Tell me why I should want to be in partnership with you, Jack.
Jack: Because I'm making you an offer you can't refuse.
Kay: Well, we've done business before. I've told you, I don't trust you.
Jack: Yes, and I've made my share of mistakes. Haven't we all?
Kay: Mistakes? Mistakes? You set up a dummy corporation to try and trick me into selling Jabot. A mistake?
Jack: I wasn't well at the time. I'd just lost my father. I'd just lost Jabot. I wasn't thinking straight.
Kay: You were not thinking at all, young man.
Jack: Katherine, I honestly thought the only way I would feel better was to get the company back. I was wrong. And I apologize.
Kay: Well, an apology wouldn't have done much had I made the deal. Because right now I would've been facing this humongous lawsuit.
Jack: And I am grateful, for your sake, that it never worked out.
Kay: Well, you're taking on a very ambitious project. Are you sure you've got what it takes to pull it off?
Jack: Katherine, I haven't the slightest doubt.
Kay: You're awfully quiet there, Newman.
Victor: Yes, my dear, I'm enjoying this-- whatever this is. To be honest with you, I believe in the project, Katherine. And I believe in Jack.
Kay: You... oh, well, the world has changed. If anyone should distrust Jack, it should be you.
Victor: Let bygones be bygones. I, uh, realized that he and I have been at each other's throats for 20 years. It's about time we find something in common.
Kay: Find? What would you find?
Victor: Jack has changed. Jack is a changed man.
Jack: Most people would call it a friendship, Katherine.
Kay: It's a friendship? I never thought I'd see the day. Friendship, hm?
Brad: Why didn't you call and tell me you were coming in? I thought you'd go straight home from the airport.
Victoria: Home? No, not home. I have way too much to do.
Brad: Are you contagious?
Victoria: No. Not anymore.
Brad: Well, come here, I don't care anyway. What a way to get sick, huh? I missed you.
Victoria: I missed you.
Brad: Sorry I wasn't there to nurse you through the flu.
Victoria: Yeah, I wish you were. You know, I haven't been that sick in a long time. I'd forgotten how horrible it is. And also, I didn't want to take any medication because of the baby.
Brad: Mmm, yeah, good thinking. Nikki thought you had morning sickness, right?
Victoria: Yeah, so did I, but then when I realized it was more, you know, I didn't wanna make her worried and have her miss Dru's memorial. I felt bad enough that I didn't go.
Brad: Well, whatever you do, don't call it a memorial in front of Neil. It was a prayer service.
Victoria: What exactly is a prayer service?
Brad: Well, Neil is, uh, not giving up hope. You know, they haven't found Dru's body, so he is willing her to come home.
Brad: You know, I wish you'd take it easy for a day or two.
Victoria: Are you kidding me? I have so much work I can't even-- I can't see straight. I can't focus.
Brad: Well, maybe we need to get you another assistant.
Victoria: I'm hoping now that we've hired a campaign manager I can just focus on Newman.
Brad: Who'd you finally hire?
Victoria: Karen Taylor. Have you heard of her?
Brad: Sure, of course, I have. She has quite a reputation.
Victoria: Oh, yeah.
Brad: How did Nikki get her?
Victoria: Well, she and Mom are very in synch on most of the issues. And she heard Mom's story. And she thinks that she's a natural.
Brad: Huh. I understand she runs a pretty tight ship.
Victoria: Yes, she does, which is exactly what we need. We have a lot of ground to cover if we're gonna beat Jack Abbott.
Nikki: Well, it was lovely speaking to you, too. Yes, I look forward to it. Well, perhaps in the very near future. Yes, indeed, thank you very much. Bye-bye.
Woman: I'll have someone shoot this to you right away. Emma? Karen Taylor.
Emma: Send him a bio and an action statement, right?
Karen: Yes, immediately. All right, Paloma, ten words or less. What's up?
Nikki: Marcus, please, it's Nikki Newman.
Karen: She's right here with me.
Nikki: All right, tell him I called.
Karen: They what?! No, no, no, no, no, that's news to me. Nikki? Do you know anything about pictures of Dru Winters being published?
Nikki: No, who is that?
Karen: All right, look, I want an advance copy and I want it now. Well, figure it out!
Nikki: What's going on?
Karen: Pictures of Dru's accident are gonna hit the newsstands tomorrow.
Nikki: Oh, my Lord! Talk about invasion of privacy!
Karen: Let's talk about the political fallout first. I mean, that shoot was an N.V.P./Newman joint venture, correct?
Nikki: Well, I had nothing to do with it.
Karen: It doesn't matter. You'll be tied to it.
(Cell phone ringing)
Nikki: Even if I was out of town?
Karen: Nikki, the press doesn't care. As long as your last name is Newman and you work for N.V.P., you will be questioned.
Nikki: It was Jack's shoot. He's the one who's gonna have to answer the difficult questions.
Karen: Jack is not my concern. We have to make sure that you are prepped for anything that's gonna come up.
Nikki: All right, you know what? I know a few lawyers who can fix this right now.
Karen: No, no, no, no, no, no, don't. Because if you try to suppress, you're gonna look guilty. Don't take any action that's gonna make you look culpable.
Nick: I want that tabloid shut down! Yeah, I spoke to the D.A. he said he didn't authorize it yet. No, I don't know how "Indiscreet" got a hold of them, but by the time the government does anything, I'm gonna be a grandfather. We have to do something now! Today! Fine, call me back.
Phyllis: What did he say?
Nick: It's grand jury abuse. It's a violation of grand jury privacy, a violation of personal privacy. Now the lawyer is filing a motion on our behalf before the chief judge of the circuit court.
Phyllis: Can we stop it in time?
Nick: It's like 50/50.
Phyllis: 50/50? Great. Can we can an advance copy of the magazine at least? I wanna know what it's all about.
Nick: The lawyer's working on that. I gotta go to work.
Phyllis: Okay, Summer and I will come with you.
Nick: No, no, no, no, no. I want you to stay home today.
Nick: I'm too tired to fight off all these reporters who are gonna be in your face asking questions.
Phyllis: I can handle it.
Nick: Yeah, well, I can't, all right? I worry about you. I worry about them harassing you. It's a lose-lose situation here.
Phyllis: So what am I supposed to do? Just sit around the house all day and let them decide what my life is gonna be like? You know, I'm tough! Come on! Bring it on!
Nick: Hey, hey, I know you're tough. You don't have to prove that to me. But I can't spend my whole day guarding you.
Phyllis: That's a bad thing? To guard me?
Nick: No, no, it's fine. I need to focus all my energy on getting this photo nightmare thing to go away, okay?
Phyllis: All right. Okay. You win. I'll stay here.
Lily: Dad, no one expects you to go to work today.
Daniel: Hey, Mom, it's me. Please call when you get this. Thanks.
Lily: Daniel and I are going out. Devon won't be back from school until late. You'll have the whole place to yourself.
Neil: I've gotta try and stop those pictures from coming out. Hey, did you reach Phyllis?
Daniel: Straight to voicemail.
Neil: Okay. I'm gonna try from the car. I'm not doing any good here.
Daniel: Yeah, she's gonna freak out.
Lily: Okay, well, I show you where we hide the key in case you come back and we're not here, okay?
Neil: Lily, I already know. It's under the speckled rock near the tree. Your mom showed me.
Lily: Yeah, I remember she used to sneak in and leave food in our fridge. So will you stay with us again tonight? Please?
Neil: Oh, Sweetie, I don't wanna impose on you.
Lily: You're not imposing if I'm asking you.
Daniel: Yeah, I could head over to your apartment and pick up some clothes if you like.
Neil: Thanks, you two. Uh, I'll think about it, all right?
Lily: Okay. So we'll see you later?
Neil: Yeah. We'll see. Bye, you guys.
Daniel: Bye. Are you gonna tell me why you're mad at me?
Lily: I cannot deal with this right now.
Daniel: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't you think I have the right to know why you're mad?
Lily: Daniel, please, just leave me alone.
Daniel: Come on. Come here.
Lily: No, don't! I am not in the mood. Why don't you just go online and look at some of your porn instead?
Daniel: Is this about the cell phone picture?
Lily: I saw what was on your flash drive.
Daniel: Wait a minute, how?
Lily: You know, it was a good call encrypting the files, although you missed something-- "strangers by night"?
Daniel: Okay, this is not what you think.
Lily: Yeah, I know! I thought it was porn but its worse! It's a meeting place where people chat and swap pics and hook up. Is that what you've been doing all this time?
Daniel: No, of course not!
Lily: So you encrypted the files because you have nothing to hide then, right?
Daniel: I don't have anything to hide! I just didn't want you to get the wrong idea and freak out!
Lily: Well, what idea should I get?
Daniel: Okay, look, I was curious. I went and I checked it out once. It's no big deal. I'm over it. It's nothing.
Lily: Yeah, to you.
Daniel: Listen, Lily, I didn't meet anyone in person. Okay, I went on the web site once or twice. I didn't do any e-mailing. I didn't do any chatting.
Lily: So how'd you get into it then?
Amber: I am granting you V.I.P. access to strangers by night.
Daniel: Oh, really? Well, I'm already a member.
Amber: Yes, but this is a special, exclusive section-- a board where swingers meet.
Daniel: Uh, yeah, I'm not really into meeting people. That's just too weird.
Amber: No, not in person! Online only. I'd never do that.
Daniel: What's the point?
Amber: It's just-- it's taking it to another level.
Daniel: Some guy at school sent it to me as a joke.
Lily: What is with these friends sending you these--these jokes? And why don't you delete it?
Daniel: Because I thought it was harmless.
Lily: Yeah, well, I disagree with you.
Daniel: Well, good, 'cause I'm not looking at it anymore, okay? I don't even know how you got that flash drive in the first place!
Lily: Devon found it in the garbage. He thought you lost it.
Daniel: Are you kidding me? He picked it out of the trash? Lily, you were there when I threw it away and I threw it away for a reason. You don't have anything to worry about.
Neil: No, no, no, listen, I understand. I know what you mean. It's a time sensitive issue, but I'm not gonna be able to work on it. That's right, you're gonna have to deal with Brad Carlton. Um, I'll--I'll fill him in, okay? All right, thanks, bye.
Sharon: I'm surprised to see you here.
Neil: Yeah, well, I'm not... I'm not really here for work. Um... I'm trying to deal with this whole photo issue.
Sharon: Right. Sounds like work to me.
Neil: Yeah, trying to get a tabloid's gossip is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
Sharon: Yeah, "Indiscreet"-- they wanna publish those photos.
Neil: Wait a minute, they--they called you, too?
Sharon: They did. They wanted my side of the story.
Neil: Wow. The media's gonna have a field day on this one.
Sharon: Not if Michael has anything to do with it. He's working with the Newman attorneys to stop it.
Neil: Sharon, we're just gonna have to keep our fingers crossed, you know? Hope that this damn thing doesn't hit the newsstands.
Kay: Well, Jack, what if you get elected? How is that going to affect this project?
Jack: If I am elected, we will still move ahead. But I will have to pull out of the day-to-day operations of things. I somehow imagine Victor had enough experience to, uh, handle things. What do you think?
Victor: Well, Jack, thank you for the vote of confidence.
Kay: Mm-hmm. What about the opposition?
Kay: Nikki Newman.
Jack: Yes, she is definitely opposed.
Kay: Well, she certainly made a, um, a good argument against developing the area.
Jack: That's because she's been swayed by a very talented businesswoman in Victoria Newman. Who, when it comes to architecture, is, I am afraid, a bit of a tree-hugger. No offense, Victor.
Victor: None taken, Jack.
Jack: She wants to save some worn down buildings at the expense of revitalizing an entire area.
Kay: Well, what do the residents feel?
Jack: They're 100% behind me. Katherine, they want jobs. We're providing them jobs. I can think of no better way to jump-start an economy.
Kay: Okay, big man, what do you have to say? I mean, you're caught in the middle, what's it gonna be? Your money or... or your wife?
Victor: Katherine, my wife has good intentions.
Victor: But a distorted view of the circumstances.
Kay: How so?
Victor: Look, there are buildings and homes all across Wisconsin that should and could be preserved for their architectural heritage.
Victor: Why Clear Springs? The development of Clear Springs is good for the community and good for business.
Kay: And good for Victor Newman.
Victor: Of course. That goes without saying.
Nick: You pull those pictures right now and cut your losses, or you'll find yourself swimming in lawsuits. No, those photos are part of an ongoing investigation. You'll be facing civil, criminal charges. Well, that's fine. You go ahead and do that. But I will shut you down! I promise that!
Brad: Sounds like those pictures are going to be published, huh?
Nick: Well, not if I can help it.
Brad: Why are you so desperate to stop them? What don't you want people to see?
Nick: Well, its common decency, Brad. I don't expect you to understand that concept.
Brad: Or are you worried about how people will perceive Phyllis? That she may be criminally negligent? You know, you gotta admit, it is a pretty amazing coincidence that two of Phyllis' least favorite people-- both Sharon and Dru-- went off that cliff.
Nick: Are you accusing Phyllis of causing that accident?
Brad: Hey, listen, I don't know what happened, but those pictures may determine who's responsible, right?
Nick: All right, you better watch your mouth, or we're gonna have a serious problem.
Brad: Look, Nick, I understand that you're married to Phyllis. That doesn't mean you can wear blinders.
Neil: Michael called. He's got a judge to hear the motion. He said we gotta get to the courthouse right away.
Nick: All right, we'll finish our discussion later.
Neil: Hey, Nick? What's with you two?
Nick: Nothing. Brad's a punk.
Neil: Yeah, I agree with you.
Nick: Really? I would've thought you'd change your opinion on him.
Neil: Why would I do that?
Nick: He voted you onto the board.
Neil: Yeah, well, Brad never does anything that won't benefit him in some way.
Neil: The blackmail-- how long has it been going on?
Sharon: A while. Not that long.
Neil: Why? What did Phyllis want?
Sharon: For Brad to vote to put you on the board.
Neil: Brad did the right thing for the wrong reason. I don't trust the guy. I never have, I never will.
Karen: Give me 100 heartfelt words for the family of Nikki's dear friend and co-worker Drucilla Winters.
Emma: Fax from the endorsement you were waiting for and a message from "Wisconsin Daily" about the proposed interview.
Karen: Thank you. And I need another 200 about the unfortunate accident.
Nikki: We met that night.
Karen: Make sure that you mention Jack Abbott, but be subtle about it. Nothing too direct.
Nikki: Yes, that was my granddaughter Cassie. Well, what you said about your son was so moving. We all need to stand up and be counted. We can make a difference.
Karen: You got it.
Nikki: Yes, thank you. Bye-bye.
(Cell phone ringing)
Karen: All right, there's my other line. Thanks. Karen Taylor. No, there are no pictures in the fax machine. Where are they? Well, what about the photographer? He's gotta have copies. Nick Newman? Interesting. All right, keep me posted. Your son went down to the courthouse to get an injunction.
Nikki: You really think those photographs are gonna be that damaging?
Karen: We hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.
Daniel: Are you still mad?
Lily: It doesn't matter.
Daniel: Yes, it does. You saw me throw the flash drive away. How can you be upset?
Lily: I'm upset with this jokester who keeps sending you these links. I wanna meet him.
Daniel: You can't.
Lily: Why not?
Daniel: Because it doesn't matter anymore. I'm not going online anymore.
Lily: I don't care. I still wanna meet him.
Daniel: Why, Lily? So you can harass him?
Lily: That's okay. I can get my message across without using words.
Daniel: You see? This is why I can't tell you. Because you're just gonna jump all over him.
Lily: Daniel, who are you covering for?
Daniel: It doesn't matter anymore! It's over!
Lily: Yeah, it better be.
Phyllis: We thought we'd stop by.
Daniel: Yeah, how's my favorite little baby sister doing?
Phyllis: Oh, she was so excited to see you and then she fell right to sleep.
Daniel: I guess we're gonna have to cut back on her late nights, huh?
Phyllis: A little too much partying.
Daniel: Yeah. So no work for you today?
Phyllis: No, Nick and I agreed that I shouldn't go into the office.
Daniel: You heard about "Indiscreet"?
Phyllis: You know about that?
Daniel: Well, they called Neil.
Phyllis: They called Neil? Oh, they're bloodsuckers.
Daniel: Yeah. I left you messages.
Phyllis: I turned off my phone.
Daniel: What do you think those pictures are gonna show?
Phyllis: I'm afraid they're gonna show that there was something more I could've done.
Daniel: No, Mom, don't--
Phyllis: No, seriously. No, I know, this is me. This is what I do. I always screw up. I started the argument. I shouldn't have done that. I mean, I do this. I keep on doing things that I later regret.
Daniel: Been there, done that.
Phyllis: Right. How's Lily?
Daniel: Not so good.
Phyllis: Is there anything I can do?
Daniel: Probably keep your distance for a while.
Phyllis: Yeah, okay, I guess so. So blames me, doesn't she?
Daniel: Well... (cell phone ringing)
Phyllis: It's Nick. Hey, what's going on?
Nick: The judge ruled in our favor. He barred publication of the photos.
Neil: Well, that's great news, Nick. The kids couldn't have handled those pictures being plastered everywhere. I just hope the D.A. finds the bastard that leaked 'em in the first place. Yeah, do me a favor? Tell Michael I said thanks. All right, bye-bye.
Karen: It is such a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Chancellor. You know, there weren't very many role models for women when I was growing up.
Kay: Well, Mary Todd Lincoln was mine.
Karen: I understand you were instrumental in convincing Nikki to run?
Kay: Well, that's because I think she would make an excellent state senator.
Nikki: I would not have considered running without Katherine's support.
Emma: Sorry to interrupt. Mr. Danforth is holding on line one.
Karen: Oh, just tell him I'll call him back, okay? You know, I'm hoping that you're gonna join Nikki on some of her upcoming events. Your presence would definitely have an influence.
Kay: No problem. Uh, coordinate with my assistant and, uh, I would love to host a fundraiser in my home.
Karen: Twist my arm.
(Cell phone ringing)
Karen: Oh, excuse me. Karen Taylor. You know what? I'll be in touch regarding specifics.
Kay: Fine, fine.
Karen: Thank you. Did you get a hold of him? Call Doreen.
Kay: She does not mess around.
Nikki: Mnh-mnh. I couldn't be in better hands.
Kay: I had a very interesting breakfast this morning with your opponent and your lovely husband.
Nikki: Oh, is that right? Well, I heard nothing about it. What was it?
Kay: Clear Springs.
Nikki: Oh, go figure.
Kay: Well, they... they would like Chancellor Industries to handle the construction end.
Nikki: Well, of course you said no.
Kay: I said I would consider.
Nikki: What? You know how I feel about that, Katherine.
Kay: Darling, I know your feelings, but I can't let my feelings interfere with business.
Nikki: If you partner with Jack, that's as good as an endorsement.
Kay: This is not political, Nikki.
Nikki: He will use it. Jack will use it to confuse the voters. If you join him in a commercial venture that I have already publicly opposed, what is that gonna look like?
Kay: Karen can put a spin on anything. Darling, on all the major issues-- taxes, education, campaign finance reform-- we are in complete agreement. On Clear Springs, no, Darling, I'm not so sure you're right.
Nikki: Well, before you make up your mind, I wish that you would look at the impact report, because I think that Jack is a little too optimistic.
Kay: All right, I'll do that. But, uh... I haven't made my decision yet.
Sharon: How did you get the judge to stop that publication?
Nick: Well, the photos are part of an ongoing grand jury investigation. You can thank Michael and Newman's lawyers.
Sharon: Listen, um... I know you did it for Phyllis, but...
Nick: I did it for everyone. I wouldn't wanna see that happen to you or to Dru's family.
Sharon: Thanks. I forget, not everyone has an ulterior motive. (Cell phone ringing)
Nick: Nick Newman. What? (Sighs) all right.
Sharon: What is it?
Nick: We tried. The, uh, photos are out. Somebody posted them online.
Lily: So they can't publish the pictures, right?
Neil: No, the lawyers stopped 'em.
Lily: Oh, well, that's good. Hey, you keep O.D.ing on coffee like that and you're gonna never sleep.
Neil: Sweetheart, it's my last cup, I promise.
Lily: Oh. Excuse me. What are you doing here?
Daniel: I got you a present.
Lily: What is it?
Daniel: Open it.
Lily: It's your computer. So?
Daniel: So when you turn it on you'll see there's no more password protection.
Lily: Daniel, you already gave me your password.
Daniel: Yeah, well, now you don't even need that. I just want you to know that I have nothing to hide.
Victoria: Where's Karen?
Nikki: Uh, she's at a meeting. I'm so glad you're here. There's only one person I can talk to and that's you. I'm just starting to doubt myself. I don't know, maybe your father is right about this whole campaign.
Victoria: Oh, no, no, no. Unh-unh. He's not, okay? Everyone has doubts. Everyone. Except Jack.
Nikki: I love your father. But he's such a stranger to me now.
Victoria: Yeah, well... Dad can be, uh, Dad can be pretty strange.
Nikki: You know, Katherine stopped by and she is considering going into business with Jack on Clear Springs.
Victoria: What?! What do you--why?
Nikki: She hasn't made up her mind yet, but she thinks it's good for business.
Victoria: (Sighs) wow. Wow. That's gonna be a huge hit.
Nikki: Exactly! That's why I'm feeling the way I am. I mean, is it really worth it? Honey, you have to tell me, honestly. Am I doing the right thing?
Victoria: I want you to tell me why you're running.
Nikki: Well, at first I was furious that I was not elected to the board. And your father is not supporting me.
Victoria: Well, being mad at Dad is not a good enough reason for you to run.
Nikki: Yeah, well, then... I thought about it and I realized that I do have something to contribute. I mean, I know what it's like to struggle. I know what it's like to not be eligible for health care. And I think health care should be available to everybody! There's so many things. I think we should toughen up on school policy and reform. I mean, I was one of those kids. I know what it's like to slip through the cracks in a classroom that's overcrowded, under funded. I've been there. I wanna help those kids. I wanna make a change in their lives.
Victoria: That is a great cause to champion. And you have my vote.
Nikki: I guess I'm in this race to win. Yes, damn it, I am in this race to win! (Sighs) I just hope I don't lose my marriage and my best friend in the process.
Nick: I'm online right now. Where do I go to see the photos? All right, hold on a second. I'm gonna call you back. What? This can't be right.
Karen: Jack Abbott? Karen Taylor. Nikki Newman's campaign manager.
Jack: Well, I'm delighted to meet you, Ms. Taylor.
Karen: Likewise. You know, I intend to give you quite the run for your money. You care to explain your position on government accountability?
Jack: Well, I certainly appreciate the interest, and I hope you'll take time to see my statement on the web site.
Karen: I already have.
Jack: If you'll excuse me, there's someone here I have to talk to.
Karen: I'm sure our paths will cross again.
Kay: Oh, the other one? All right, I'll get this to you, thank you.
Jack: Well, I certainly didn't expect to see you here, Katherine.
Kay: Mm-hmm, well, I'm, uh, here with Nikki.
Jack: Have you decided what you're going to do with my proposal?
Kay: Yes. I've, uh, decided to accept your offer.
Jack: Excellent. I will have the papers drawn up right away.
Kay: Uh, let us have my lawyers draw up the papers. We'll take it from there.
Jack: Suit yourself. You're making the right decision here. I am thrilled we are back in business together again.
Nikki: How could you bring Katherine into this?
Victor: I could bring her into it because it's a good business decision and she stands to profit.
Nikki: Does she know that you're planning on ruining Jack? Does she know that he owns Jabot?
Victor: She doesn't know anything and you aren't about to tell her anything.
Nikki: I don't know how you can do this to a friend.
Victor: Don't you worry about Katherine. I'll protect her, all right?
Nikki: Ah, yes, the great and benevolent Oz. I know you like to think you can control everything.
Victor: Stop talking about me and control. I run a business empire. Obviously I am in control. Someone have to bloody well be in control. You forget that you and I are in this together?
Nikki: Do you forget that Katherine was not supposed to have anything to do with this? And what if you expose Jack and you can't handle the fallout? You're already endangering N.V.P. and Newman Enterprises.
Victor: Don't you worry about a thing, all right?
Nikki: Right. Just like the owner of "The Titanic" said, "Go faster, she can't sink!"
Daniel: Well... I guess the gift didn't work, huh?
Lily: It was a nice gesture.
Daniel: What else do you want me to do, Lily? I apologized to you. Are you gonna keep throwing this in my face?
Lily: How do I know you won't do it again?
Daniel: How about I cancel our internet service? That way I can't get online.
Lily: That's not possible and you know it. Our teachers post stuff online all the time. And what about research and--and downloading music and stuff? We need the internet for everything!
Daniel: What do you want me to do?!
Lily: I don't know! I just--I just don't trust you right now!
Daniel: And you have every reason not to. You have every reason not to trust anyone right now.
Lily: What is that supposed to mean?!
Daniel: Nothing. Just forget it.
Lily: No, no, no, no! You can't do that! What are you talking about?
Daniel: I just--I get why you'd be questioning me, okay? I've lied to you in the past. So has your mom, so has Kevin and even your dad recently.
Lily: My dad?
Daniel: Yeah, you know all that coffee he's been drinking?
Lily: Yes, that's Mom's favorite dark roast.
Daniel: Oh. Yeah, spiked with alcohol.
Nick: I couldn't believe what I saw.
Phyllis: Who put the pictures on the internet?
Nick: We're trying to track that down.
Phyllis: Can you get the lawyers to find out and make them take it off?
Nick: The problem is, the site has already had several thousand hits. Somebody somewhere probably copied it. This pictures could be anywhere.
Phyllis: Okay, all right, so tell me... how bad is it?
Nick: Well... it gets you off the hook. You were not responsible for Dru's falling.
Phyllis: You can see that by the picture?
Nick: Yeah, and more.
Phyllis: How bad is it?
Nick: Well... look for yourself.
Phyllis: Oh, my God... it... it was--it was Sharon?
Nick: Yeah. Looks that way to me, too.
Sharon: Wait a minute. No, this is not right. Wait, that can't be!
Brad: You know, pictures don't tell the whole story, Sharon. Just because it looks a certain way--
Sharon: Brad, it's right there. Look at it. You know, everyone is gonna think that I'm responsible for Dru.
Brad: No, no, no, listen, your friends will understand.
Sharon: Oh, my gosh, what am I gonna tell Neil and the kids? You know he's never gonna believe me.
Brad: We'll get the pictures pulled.
Sharon: We can't. It's too late.
Neil: Hey, Sharon! You saw the pictures?
Sharon: Neil... Neil, I am so sorry. And I swear to you that I never--
Neil: Sharon, it was you. Dru isn't here today because of you!
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Daniel: Lily is never gonna trust me again.
Colleen: This is extremely unfair and both of you know it.
Brad: It's for the best, Colleen.
Phyllis: A woman lost her life. I take no pleasure in that.
Sharon: No, you just take pleasure in my misery.
