Jack: A proposition for me, Katherine?

Katherine: Well, you are aware of what's happened between Arthur and me.

Jack: Yes. Jill shared that with me. I'm very sorry.

Kay: Uh-huh. No doubt she forgot to tell you the role she played in driving him away. No, I-- I, uh, I didn't want to talk to you about that anyway. I'm preoccupied with my own problems.

Jack: As I told you before, if there's anything I can do to help--

Kay: Well, you know we're looking for a new C.E.O. to replace Elliott.

Jack: Yes, I understood Jill was keeping an eye on that.

Kay: Well, the company has enough long-standing, loyal--loyal employees to run itself for awhile, but certainly not indefinitely.

Jack: What Jill lacks in experience, she makes up for in tenacity and commit--

Kay: Now I jokingly-- jokingly asked you some time ago if you were interested in the job.

Jack: What, and give up ladies as my full-time occupation?

Kay: (Laughs) no. I'm serious this time, Jack. Come to work for me. I want you to run Chancellor Industries.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Brittany: Have we come at a bad time?

J.T.: No. Mac and I were just talking about you.

Brittany: Bobby and I were talking, too. I know I haven't given you much time to think it over, but have you made a decision about us moving in? It would only be for a little while, until our condo's finished.

J.T.: Um, yeah, we talked about it. And, uh, we're willing to give it a shot.

Brittany: Really? Thank you. You're such a lifesaver. That means so much to me.

Bobby: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on. What's goin' on here?

Brittany: Didn't you hear what J.T. just said?

Bobby: Yeah, I heard, but I thought we were coming over to discuss it.

Brittany: What's to discuss? This is the perfect solution.

Bobby: Yeah, in your opinion.

J.T.: Look, Marsino, nobody's forcing you to stay here, all right?

Brittany: Why don't you take a look around? The apartment's really great. Couldn't you be happy here for a little while?

Bobby: Mac, you're being awful quiet. What do you think about all this?

Mac: Truth? I think it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Kevin: (Sighs) man, what is with this town? Doesn't anyone use bookkeepers anymore? Maybe I should look into another line of work.

Daniel: Yeah? Does, uh, traitor pay pretty well these days?

Kevin: Huh?

Daniel: You heard me.

Kevin: What, I'm a traitor now? What did I do?

Daniel: Lately, uh, the exact opposite of anything I've asked you to do.

Kevin: Wh-where is this coming from?

Daniel: Okay, you told Mac what we did at the Rec center. Then you just had to tell Lily. I mean, how stupid was that? And then last night, after I specifically told you to stay away from the girl, what did you do? You went right over and sat with her.

Kevin: Lighten up, man. We're cool, all right? Not that I appreciate being told what to do all the time. I've been bossed around a lot in my life. It isn't very motivating, you know?

Daniel: Well, someone's gotta keep you from totally screwing up.

Kevin: Okay, yeah, I talked to Lily last night for my own peace of mind. It was important to me, and now I feel better.

Daniel: Well, I hope you still feel the same way from jail.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gloria: Oh, that's okay, Lydia. Thanks. He's in here.

John: Well, what a nice surprise.

Gloria: Uh-oh. I know that face. What is stressing you out, my love, hmm? What?

John: Oh, I just got off the phone with the chairman of one of our smaller retail chains, and they're dropping Jabot's product lines.

Gloria: All of them?

John: Well, he's agreed to sell off the existing inventory, but no new orders.

Gloria: But why? Jabot makes such fabulous products. They're the best.

John: Oh, he's just heard rumors, rumors that we're going into chapter 11.

Gloria: What? No, that's not true, is it?

John: No, not at this point. I tried to convince him we're solvent, but to no avail. In a way, I can't blame the man. These small retail chains, well, they work on a very small margin, and he just cannot take the chance of ordering merchandise that may or may not be shipped. That's it.

Gloria: Poor baby. Aww. Okay. Better?

John: Oh, yeah, that feels kind of wonderful.

Gloria: I hate to see you so down. What about your kids? Can't they handle some of this stuff? Maybe Ashley could handle some of this stuff? If she had more to do around here, maybe she wouldn't be so obsessed with me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul: This was always my concern, Nikki. I--you know, finding Charlie Cassen wouldn't necessarily make things better for you.

Nikki: Well, it's too late for that. I already found him, and I know what it's done to his life.

Paul: All right, let's just suppose that you tell Bobby what happened to his brother. What good would that do?

Nikki: I have been up all night asking myself that same question. I don't know. I don't know if it will make it better or make it worse. But if it were you, wouldn't you want to know everything about the day that changed your life forever? But I don't know. I-I don't know what to do.

Nikki: How do I handle this? Oh, God, help me. (Cell phone rings) (Ring)

Nikki: Hello.

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Nikki: Victor.

Nikki: Where are you?

Victor: Well, I'm just checking in. How are things?

Nikki: When are you coming back?

Victor: I think I need to stay away a little longer.

Nikki: What do you mean, you need to?

Victor: Are you all right?

Nikki: I just don't like having a long-distance relationship with my husband.

Victor: I understand that, but I think it is best for Nicholas right now if I'm not around.

Nikki: You're saying you're staying away because of him?

Victor: You should understand why. He needs time to settle in to his new position as C.E.O. of Newman Enterprises without my interference. That's why I'm not there. I-I think that's what he would want.

Nikki: Well, what about what I want? Did that ever occur to you, or is that asking too much?

Victor: Did something happen?

Nikki: I just wish you hadn't waited so long to call me.

Victor: Wait a minute. I tried calling you the last two nights. You weren't there.

Nikki: You could've left a message. I was working.

Victor: What do you mean you were working, at that joint?

Nikki: It's called Marilynís.

Victor: Whatever. Is that where you are now?

Nikki: As a matter of fact, yes.

Victor: Darling, haven't I told you often enough--

Nikki: Victor, don't start. Don't you dare tell me where I can spend my time, not when you're wherever you are, doing whatever you're doing.

Victor: I am telling you that I don't like you associating with that joint, with that place.

Nikki: Okay, well, I'm busy. I have to go.

Victor: All right, then go.

Nikki: All right. Good-bye.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Jack: Wow. I come to drop off a wedding gift, I get the offer of a lifetime.

Kay: Do you really see it that way?

Jack: You bet I see it that way. Don't forget, I have a new understanding of just what Chancellor Industries represents.

Kay: Well, you should. You helped save it from Elliot Hampton. I need someone new and fresh at the helm, someone creative. Oh, come on, Jack, this is all about you-- the man in power, running a big conglomerate, expanding our markets, creating and introducing new products. Now don't deny it. You're itching to get back to work, hmm?

Jack: It's an intriguing proposition.

Kay: Mm-hmm.

Jack: Katherine, have you considered making this offer to Jill?

Kay: No, I most certainly have not.

Jack: She has very effectively protected your interests lately.

Kay: She does not have your expertise, Jack. And she is someone I cannot count on. Now you listen to me, I would rather have you as my chief executive than anyone.

Jack: I'm flattered.

Kay: Does that mean you'll take the job?

Jack: It means I'll consider it.

Kay: Excellent.

Jack: Can I get back to you on this?

Kay: Oh, do. Because I will be looking forward to it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Kevin: Jail?

Daniel: I'm starting to think you want to go back there.

Kevin: That's a pretty ignorant thing to say.

Daniel: Kev, you have to look at the big picture. What happened with Lily, it's over. She's fine. I mean, I feel bad, I wish we had never done it, but what good's it gonna do us now, getting busted for it? Is it gonna make it like it never happened? And you have to know that if Lily does go to her parents with what you told her, you're gonna be in real deep, man, and I don't even like to think about that.

Kevin: Well, neither do I. It freaks me out. But so far, she hasnít.

Daniel: It doesn't mean she won't go to them still.

Kevin: Yeah, well, you know what, Daniel? Sometimes--sometimes you have to pay for the things that you've done.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

J.T.: Mac, we already talked about this.

Bobby: No, no, no, no, no, let her say her piece. Now, Mac, you don't want Brittany and me to live here?

Mac: Well, I can tell already that you won't be happy here, and why would you? We're college students, you run your own business. You're used to having things a certain way.

Bobby: Yeah, that's what I said.

Brittany: Look, we'll all need to be flexible, but I know we can make this work.

J.T.: I'm willing to try.

Brittany: What about you, Mac?

Brittany: Bobby?

Bobby: All right, I'll give it a shot.

Brittany: Great. How soon can we move in?

Bobby: No, no, no, before you do any of that, I want set down some ground rules.

J.T.: Ground rules? What are you talking about?

Bobby: Something about that you don't like?

J.T.: Yeah. This is our apartment. You can't walk in here and start making demands, unless you want to find another place to live.

Bobby: Look, that's fine by me. I'm only doing this for Brittany.

J.T.: Yeah, me too. Wouldn't kill you to show a little gratitude.

Bobby: For what? For you gettin' on my case?

J.T.: You know what? Maybe we should just forget this whole thing.

Bobby: Yeah. Well, that suits me just fine. Come on, let's get outta here.

Brittany: No, we're not leaving.

Bobby: You heard the guy, he doesn't want us living here.

J.T.: That's right.

Brittany: J.T., could I talk to you alone?

J.T.: I don't see what good it's gonna do.

Brittany: Now. Please.

J.T.: All right.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

John: "Obsessed." Is that a euphemism for something?

Gloria: I don't want to sound negative, but it just feels like she's watching my every move.

John: Oh.

Gloria: It makes me very uncomfortable.

John: Come on now. You know, it seems to me that Ashley is making every effort to be civil.

Gloria: Exactly. And is that appropriate? For your grown daughter who's living in our home to be merely "civil" to your new wife?

John: Honey, just give her a chance, please. And know one thing.

Gloria: What?

John: You and I are 100% solid. No one--not family-- are going to give you a hard time without having to deal with me.

Gloria: You and me against the world, huh?

John: Oh, well, I hope it doesn't come to that. But if need be, yes.

Gloria: Well, what a rotten position for you to have to be in.

John: Nah. Maybe it's ironic.

Gloria: What's ironic?

John: Well, when my kids were younger, I was rather outspoken about the people they chose to marry, so maybe they're returning the favor.

Gloria: Well, you don't seem to be too bothered by it.

John: Ah, should I be?

Gloria: No. It's just that it's kinda hard on me to have to live around people like that.

John: Now wait a minute. You know, Jack hasn't been judgmental with you.

Gloria: No, and for that, I'm really grateful. But, John, for heaven sakes, we're newlyweds. Is a little privacy too much to ask for?

John: (Chuckles)

Gloria: I mean, you wouldn't think that children who need reading glasses would still be living at home with Daddy.

John: Oh! (Laughs) oh, I'm not laughing at you. No, no, no. It's just--oh, that's always how the Abbotts have worked.

Gloria: Oh.

Jack: Yeah, we Abbotts are a pretty strange lot. But to know us is to love us.

Gloria: Oh, hi, Jack.

John: Jackie.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

J.T.: I know what you're gonna say.

Brittany: That you should be nicer to Bobby?

J.T.: I should? Were you in there just now? Did you hear your husband? He was acting like a jerk. I was trying to be the good guy.

Brittany: Can't you try a little harder?

J.T.: Oh, God, I don't believe this. I am never doing you another favor ever again.

Brittany: Please don't be like this, J.T. I know Bobby can be difficult. But I'll work on him, I promise.

J.T.: Maybe Macís right. Maybe--maybe we shouldn't do this.

Brittany: What? No.

J.T.: Can't you stay someplace else? What about all those connections he has, you know? Can't he make a phone call and borrow some cash?

Brittany: Sure, at about 90% interest per week. Besides, Bobby doesn't run with that crowd anymore.

J.T.: Right, or so he says.

Brittany: Look, this is our only option. We can't afford anyplace else. We already owe so much, and the bills just keep piling up. Just this morning, Bobby was talking about some repair at the club. That's gonna cost us a lot of money, money we don't have.

J.T.: I don't know, Britt. I got a really bad feeling about this.

Brittany: Please don't say no.

J.T.: Oh, man.

Brittany: Look, I know it's a lot to ask. And if there was any other way... but there's not. I hate coming to you. So does Bobby. You know how proud he is. But we have to get out of this hole. If we don't, we'll just keep digging ourselves in deeper and deeper. And I'm so afraid of what that's gonna do to us, how that's gonna affect our marriage.

J.T.: Brittany. Stop. Don't--don't do that.

Brittany: I'm sorry. I canít...

J.T.: All right, all right.

Brittany: We can stay?

J.T.: As long as it's okay with Mac, and as long as Bobby stops with all the rules, you know? I got one dad. I don't need another one.

Brittany: I'll talk to him.

J.T.: Good.

Brittany: Thank you. You're the best, J.T.

Bobby: This isn't about you. You know that, right? Your punk roommate's the one I got a problem with. He just kinda gets under my skin.

Mac: Funny, he says the same thing about you.

Bobby: Yeah. Well, I don't have a problem with you, personally.

Mac: I don't have a problem with you either. Personally, I mean.

Bobby: You sure about that?

Mac: I don't lie just to be nice.

Bobby: No, you wouldnít. That's good. I like people that speak their mind. Do you mind if I ask you a question? I mean, it's none of my business...

Mac: What?

Bobby: How come you and Brittany dislike each other so much?

Mac: Yeah, that's a long story. It goes all the way back to high school.

Bobby: Well, come on. What did it have to do with, a guy? Did you two ever think maybe it's time to put the past behind you? I mean, Brittanyís changed. At least I think she has.

Mac: Things used to be a lot worse. This is actually an improvement.

Bobby: But you don't want us moving in.

Mac: Well, J.T. and I have a good thing goin' on.

Bobby: Are you two a couple?

Mac: No, that's not what I meant. It's just, we're good friends.

Bobby: But you want a little more.

Mac: No, that's not what I said. I just, you know... just forget it. I-- it's none of your business anyway.

Bobby: All right, just pretend I never said anything.

------------------------------------------------------

Jill: Mother, can I get you anything? Maybe a cup of tea? I know how miserable you must be feeling.

Kay: Do you?

Jill: Do you think I wanted this to happen? You lost the man you were gonna marry, and I lost my father. We should be comforting each other, not blaming each other.

Kay: Oh, you blame me? You're the one who drove Arthur away.

Jill: I don't think it was unreasonable of me to want some straight talk about Harrison Bartlettís accusations. And I think Dad's refusal to deal with it was just weird.

Kay: Only from someone who has such an evil, suspicious mind.

Jill: You know what? I'm not gonna let you get to me. I'm not gonna let you take this out on me.

Kay: Oh, by the way, Jill. I asked Jack to run Chancellor Industries.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel: Okay, dude, you know what? I can't believe that I'm hearing you say this. We learned our lesson, we're never gonna do anything that stupid again, so what is the point in getting into a bunch of trouble now? I mean, do you have a death wish or what?

Kevin: It's called a conscience, Daniel. Do you even have one?

Daniel: What kind of a question is that?

Kevin: I guess that's a no.

Daniel: You know what, Kev? I just don't get you, 'cause you're not making any sense.

Kevin: Look, I just feel bad, all right? About the people that I've hurt. And if you don't get that, then I don't even--

Daniel: Just please, man, tell me that you're not thinking about going and making any more big confessions or--or cleansing your soul or whatever.

Kevin: Probably not.

Daniel: Well, there's something else that's been bugging me. You made a promise to me a long time ago.

Kevin: A promise about what?

Daniel: Mackenzie. And you haven't come through.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Bobby: Hey, babe, what happened? Are you okay?

Brittany: Yeah, I'm fine.

Bobby: What'd you do to make her cry?

Brittany: He didn't do anything. I just got a little emotional.

Bobby: All right. So what did you two decide?

Brittany: J.T. says we can stay, as long you agree to a few conditions, but we can talk about that later.

Bobby: Yeah, I can't wait. Well, I guess we, uh, better go get our stuff.

J.T.: No, not so fast. Mac, you got anything you want to say?

Mac: Does my opinion really matter?

J.T.: Yeah, of course it does. This is your apartment, too.

Mac: Do what you want. I don't care.

J.T.: Why are you acting like this? What's goin' on?

Mac: I told you, I think this is a bad idea. But obviously my opinion doesn't count for anything around here.

J.T.: Mac, you know that's not true. Talk to me. What's the deal?

Mac: The deal is you are an idiot.

------------------------------------------------------------------

John: So, Jackie, to what do we owe this pleasure?

Jack: Well, I just wanted to run something by you, but if you're busy, I--

Gloria: No, no, no, that's okay. You boys talk. I'm late for my nails anyway. Bye, darling. We'll pick this up later.

John: Yeah, I think that can be arranged.

Gloria: (Laughs) see you later, Jack. Mmm.

Jack: Yeah--oh. Have a nice day.

Gloria: Thanks. Okay, Lydia, you can call for my car now.

John: (Chuckles) Jack, tell me the truth.

Jack: I'll try.

John: Are you really happy for us, as you claim?

Jack: If my old man's happy, I'm happy.

John: You sure about that?

Jack: Yeah, yeah, I'm sure. But you know what? I-I didn't come here to talk about you and Gloria. I--I came here 'cause I got blindsided, and I thought-- no, I know--I need your input.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Jill: You offered Jack the job of C.E.O. of Chancellor Industries?

Kay: Do you have a problem with that?

Jill: What did he say?

Kay: He is considering it.

Jill: Well, he's certainly qualified.

Kay: Yes, he is. He's intelligent, hard-working, loyal. Above all, he knows how to treat people.

Jill: Oh. That's what this is about, how I treat people, you, for instance?

Kay: Yes, for starters.

Jill: You know damn well I would've liked to at least have been considered for that job.

Kay: You never applied for it.

Jill: I didn't think I had to. This is such an important decision. This is one that affects all of us. Please don't make it on the basis that you're angry at me right now.

Kay: But, Jill, I have told you over and over again, you are simply someone I cannot trust.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Kevin: What exactly did I promise you?

Daniel: Dude, are you brain dead? I asked you to help me.

Kevin: With Mackenzie?

Daniel: Yeah. Talk me up, maybe plead my case a little to her.

Kevin: Bro, she thinks you're too young for her.

Daniel: Which is totally bogus. I'm 17 years old. I went to one of the top schools in Europe. I mean, I could graduate early and be in college by next semester if I wanted to. So what? So there's a few years age difference there. You know, everything was goin' fine until J.T. ratted me out.

Kevin: So then why don't you tell her that, how you could be in college?

Daniel: Why don't you? Mac tunes me out every time I bring up the subject. But she listens to you, and that's why I asked you to help me out with that. But have you done anything so far? No. Some friend you are.

Kevin: Look, I-I will, all right? I'll--I'll see what I can do.

Daniel: Really?

Kevin: Yeah. Yeah, next time I see Mackenzie, I will totally talk you up, tell her what a-- what a great guy you are.

Daniel: Not only that, but you gotta find a way to dump on J.T.

Kevin: Why? You think he's still a problem?

Daniel: Are you kidding me? They live together. Anything could happen. Speak of the devil. Here she is. Look. I'm gonna take off.

Kevin: All right, showtime.

Daniel: This is your chance, Kevin. You prove to me that we're friends. If you let me down...

Kevin: Hey, Mac. How's it going?

Mac: Great. Yeah. Just fabulous.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Bobby: Hi.

Nikki: Hey. Are you all right?

Bobby: Oh, I'm just great. My whole life's falling apart, but...

Nikki: What happened?

Bobby: Everything. This place is hanging on by a thread, I don't have the money to finish my condo, and now you're not gonna believe what I just got myself into.

Nikki: What?

Bobby: Brittany and I are moving into her old place.

Nikki: The loft? Aren't her old roommates living there?

Bobby: Yeah. I'm gonna be living with a couple of college kids.

Nikki: Oh, my God, Bobby. I thought you were gonna stay in a motel.

Bobby: Well, that was the plan. But Brittany doesn't want us to waste what little money we have left. And she's got a good point.

Nikki: Yeah, but I'm sure you'd rather find another place.

Bobby: Except that there is no other place, not that I can afford. (Sighs) this is just killing me. I marry this beautiful girl that I'm crazy about, and I can't even put a roof over her head.

Nikki: I'm sure Brittany understands.

Bobby: No. She's been great. She actually hasn't complained at all. But starting our new life living in her old place isn't exactly what she wants. I don't know. I'm sorry I'm even bothering you with this. There's nothing you can do about it.

Nikki: Wait a minute. Maybe there is. Bobby, I think I have the perfect solution.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

John: Jack, the way you say that--

Jack: No, no, no, it's--it's all good. Not to worry. I-I've just been thrown for a loop and I need some advice. This is a biggie, Dad.

John: Well, so I gather.

Jack: I don't even know where to start. This is a mindblower.

John: Well, start with what you said. You said something happened.

Jack: Yeah, I... I went out to Katherineís to-- to give her a wedding present.

John: Oh, please, don't tell me she went--

Jack: No, no, no, no, no. There's not gonna be a wedding. It's called--you know what? I'm not even gonna get sidetracked on that. While I was there... she made me an offer.

John: What kind of an offer?

Jack: C.E.O. of Chancellor Industries.

John: Really?

Jack: Kind of a ten on the "wow" scale, huh?

John: Wow. Did you accept?

Jack: Right there on the spot? No. I-- I told her that I needed time to think. The truth is I didn't even want to start thinking until you and I had a chance to discuss this.

John: Is this something you really want to do, son?

Jack: You and I both know what I really want. I want to work by your side, I want to carry the torch when the time comes. It's been my dream my whole life.

John: Our dream.

Jack: Yeah. Well, it... appears it's not an option now. It may never be thanks to one cold-hearted bastard.

John: Oh, Victor Newman.

Jack: Do you have any idea how I despise that man?

John: Jackie, we can hate him all we want, but it's not going to change anything. It's not gonna bring back what he's taken from me, what he's robbed of me. You know, son, the day he forced me to bar you from ever functioning at Jabot again, he killed whatever joy I have inside, knowing that you would carry on with my legacy.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Jill: You're telling me you're doing this because you don't trust me? No, Katherine, you've offered jack the position of C.E.O. because you are furious with me.

Kay: No, I meant what I said. I do not trust you nor the way your mind works. I couldn't possibly sleep at night, thinking you were running things.

Jill: Oh, and you slept like a baby after you hired Elliot Hampton, didn't you? And he nearly destroyed you. I was the one who first noticed that something wrong was going on.

Kay: No, no, no, Jack--

Jill: If Jack and I hadn't investigated it, Katherine--

Kay: Jack found out the scam that Elliot had going. You were too busy making love to the crook.

Jill: The point is, you were totally unaware that he was robbing you blind.

Kay: I am not going to argue about this.

Kay: I've offered the job to Jack.

Jill: So this is the way it's gonna be? You think that I took something from you, so you're taking something from me? Oh, Katherine. What a petty, vindictive woman you are.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Jack: Dad, I--

John: I know, I know. No point dwelling on it.

Jack: In the meantime, I have a decision to make.

John: Yeah... what you're going to do about Katherineís offer.

Jack: Top man at Chancellor Industries.

John: Oh, you know, kid, you could step right into that?

Jack: Oh, you betcha.

Jack: It's a family company, right? It's not my family.

John: Hey, Jackie, now you put all that aside. Now this is gonna require your total commitment.

Jack: Yeah. You do realize this could be a commitment for the rest of my career?

John: Jack, this is an incredible opportunity. Even the most selfish part of me that's having trouble accepting this, I would never blame you for pursuing it.

Jack: It just seems so-- so permanent, so irrevocable, so...

John: Hey, look at me. Your loyalties would be with Katherine Chancellor. Now she is one of my oldest, dearest friends.

Jack: Yeah, I guess there's some comfort in that, huh?

John: You know, son, I want what every father wants for his children-- health, happiness and fulfillment in their life.

Jack: You're saying I should take the job.

John: Jackie, love you so. Look, whatever you decide... I am saying you have my blessing and my full, unconditional support.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bobby: The ranch-- are you serious?

Nikki: I am very serious. Now the tack room is occupied right now, but there's plenty of room at the main house. You and Brittany would have your own bedroom, your own bathroom, complete privacy.

Bobby: You sure you wouldn't mind having us around?

Nikki: Are you kidding? I would love it. I would enjoy the company. So what do you say?

Bobby: Uh, thanks, but I canít.

Nikki: No, you can and you will, I insist.

Bobby: What if Victor comes back?

Nikki: He's not going to, not for awhile anyway. He just told me that on the phone. So what do you say? The rent's cheap. Am I your new landlord?

Bobby: You're not kidding, are you?

Nikki: No, I'm not kidding. I-I would be happy to. It's the least I can do.

Bobby: What do you mean, it's the least you can do? You don't owe me anything. If anything, I owe you for everything you've done around here.

Nikki: Okay, well, then you can pay me back by saying yes.

Bobby: Oh, you're good. The loft or the ranch. We'll be there.

Nikki: Good. I'll call Miguel, tell him to get the guest suite ready. And I'll let you call your wife and give her the good news.

Bobby: I will. And, Nikki...

Nikki: Yeah.

Bobby: Thanks. Thanks a lot. You're a good friend.

Nikki: You're very welcome. Okay, I have to go. I'll tell Miguel in person. See you later at the ranch.

Bobby: Hey. Thanks again.

Nikki: No problem.

----------------------------------------------

Kevin: You seem upset.

Mac: Oh, really, you think?

Kevin: What's wrong?

Mac: I think I might have to find a new place to live.

Kevin: What? Why?

Mac: Because J.T.'s trying to cram two new roommates down my throat.

Kevin: People you don't like?

Mac: Try Brittany Hodges-- oh, no, sorry--Marsino-- and her new gangster husband. How ridiculous is that?

Kevin: Oh, my God. Are you serious? Brittany got married to Bobby Marsino?

Mac: Yeah, why, you know him?

Kevin: Yeah. I used to work for him. That guy is like a gorilla. And he's gonna be living with you? Man, that is a disaster.

Mac: Oh, no, no, no. He's not gonna be living with me. J.T. maybe, but not me. No, I'm so outta there.

Kevin: But this doesn't make any sense. The guy's so much older. Why would he move in with a couple of kids?

Mac: Because they ran out of money. So now all of a sudden it's my problem.

Kevin: Oh, man. Bobby and Brittany-- that is unreal. I knew he had a thing for her, but I can't believe they got married.

Mac: Like I want to watch them be newlyweds in my living room, and pay for the privilege. Don't think so.

Kevin: And--and J.T. is cool with this?

Mac: Of course. Anything that gets him brownie points with Brittany Hodges. Never mind what I think.

Kevin: Well, doesn't surprise me. J.T.'s a jerk.

Mac: Yeah, well, he can be a jerk over there without me. I cannot live like that. No way. Hey, you want to get a place together? 'Cause I am totally ready.

Kevin: What? W-what?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bobby: All righty. All right, you have a good day, too. All right, bye.

Brittany: Hey.

Bobby: Hey, gorgeous. Thanks for hurrying down here.

Brittany: You sounded so mysterious on the phone. What's up?

Bobby: Well, I just called the motel, and I told them that we are checking out today.

Brittany: That's what has you in such a good mood?

Bobby: Uh-huh. I realized that you were right, and it was silly for us to keep throwing our money away.

Brittany: I'm so glad you agree. Just watch, you're gonna like living at the loft. I know J.T. can be a pain, but he'll settle down.

Bobby: (Chuckles) I'm not worried about it. You know why? 'Cause we are not gonna stay there.

Brittany: We're not?

Bobby: Nope.

Brittany: Where are we staying?

Bobby: All right, get this. Nikki said that we could bunk out at the ranch. Now how great is that?

---------------------------------------------------------------

Jill: I thought I'd find you here.

Jack: Then Katherine told you.

Jill: With great relish.

Jack: You sound upset.

Jill: Well, of course I'm upset. You are gonna turn her down, aren't you?

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Damon: Who is this fella?

Malcolm: I'm somebody who cares about Phyllis.

Brittany: You can live at the ranch if you want. Count me out.

Nick: I want to work with you, but if you keep pushing me...
