Nikki: What are you doing here at this hour?

Sharon: I came by to see how Abby was doing.

Nikki: Oh. So you know what happened?

Sharon: Yeah. I ran into Miguel, and he told me all about it. Gosh, that poor little girl, to fall from a horse like that.

Nikki: It could've been worse. She'll wear a sling on her arm for a few days, and she'll be fine.

Sharon: Oh, well, that's good to hear. I can imagine how terrible Victor must feel, though. Even though it wasn't his fault.

Nikki: Yes, he was so upset. Why are you concerned about my husband?

Sharon: What kind of question is that?

Nikki: Do you remember our recent conversation, Sharon? I think that you should be concentrating more on your husband. But somehow I doubt that you have told him about your newfound fascination with strippers.

Nick: There you go. You just needed to put a little English on it.

Boy: Yeah, I get it now. Thanks, man.

Nick: No problem. So it's gettin' late, it's almost curfew. You guys better take off.

Girl: You sure you don't want us to help put stuff away?

Nick: Nah, it's cool. Just tell the guard downstairs to wait with you until your ride gets here, all right? See you guys tomorrow.

Boy: See you. Hey, Mr. Newman.

Girl: Hey.

Victor: Nice to see you. Have a good night. Yep.

Nick: Hey, Dad. How long you been there?

Victor: Long enough to realize that you're doing a hell of a job with the kids.

Nick: It's fun. I like it.

Victor: Yeah.

Nick: You know, I was thinking, if we could get another table and some more equipment, we could organize a tournament, get some more kids involved.

Victor: Yeah, I guess so. There's something I gotta tell you.

Nick: What's going on?

Victor: I took Abby for a ride on Starfire. She fell off.

Nick: Is she all right?

Victor: Dislocated her shoulder. I feel so damn badly about that. I wonder if I should've taken her horseback riding in the first place.

Phyllis: Oh, my God! Oh, no!

Dru: I don't wanna die!

Phyllis: No! Please, no! No!

Dru: I don't wanna die. I don't wanna--huh?

Phyllis: Hello?

Man: Is someone in there?

Dru: Yes!

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah, yeah! We're here, we're here, we're here!

Man: Okay, now hang on. We can't pull you up manually yet.

Phyllis: Oh, okay. Are we gonna-- are we gonna fall?

Man: Just relax. It's gonna take a little while.

Dru: Are we gonna fall or not, guy?

Phyllis: Oh, my God.

Dru: Aah! What was that?

Michael: You wanna talk about Lauren? Sure. What about her?

Kevin: I saw her today. Twice, actually.

Michael: Twice?

Kevin: I had to.

Michael: Why?

Kevin: Time to face reality.

Michael: What does that mean?

Kevin: That I don't have a chance with her. I never have. She's told me before, but I guess I just didn't want to believe it. When things were at their darkest, you know, Lauren was always there for me. And I convinced myself that if she could care for me, that one day she could love me, too. I always had hope. Yeah, but that's over now. I know the truth, Michael, and it hurts like hell.

Michael: I'm so sorry. I know how painful that is.

Kevin: You mean that? Are you really sorry?

Kevin: 'Cause I'll tell you, brother, I gotta wonder about that.

J.T.: Tired of the coffee at Crimson Lights?

Mac: I needed a change of scenery.

J.T.: You mind if I take a load off?

Mac: Actually, I'm kinda busy.

J.T.: All right. Okay. Check you later.

Mac: I'm kidding. Sit down. I need a break anyway.

J.T.: How's studying going?

Mac: Terrific. What about you? How's your World Cultures class?

J.T.: Oh, funny you should ask. I just got my first paper back.

Mac: Oh, and?

J.T.: Well, I didn't do that great, but...

Mac: You passed?

J.T.: B-minus.

Mac: Oh, my gosh.

J.T.: Yeah. It's nothing to brag about, really, but, uh...

Mac: No. Yeah, it is. You should be proud of yourself.

J.T.: Yeah. Well, thanks. Hey, have you seen Brittany? I'm supposed to meet her here.

Mac: Uh, no. Maybe she's working out.

J.T.: Brittany break a sweat? That's--that's funny. Yeah, but I guess I am a few minutes early.

Mac: Have you talked to her since the coffeehouse?

J.T.: Nope. Have you?

Mac: No. I wonder what happened after we left.

J.T.: Yeah, she was pretty ticked at Bobby.

Mac: Yeah. I feel bad for the guy.

J.T.: What?

Mac: Oh, come on, J.T. That whole thing with you pretending to be her fiancé, that was so lame. Like her parents weren't gonna find out eventually.

J.T.: I'm with you. But brittany has her reasons for doing what she did.

Mac: Well, at least the secret's out. And bobby and Brittany can plan their beautiful wedding, and you can have your life back. It's better for everybody, right?

(Knock on door)

Bobby: It's open.

Brittany: Hi, Bobby. You busy?

Bobby: Oh, well, I'm never too busy for you. What's up?

Brittany: Hmm, nothing. I just wanted to say hi.

Bobby: Oh, you did, did you?

Bobby: Hello.

Brittany: (Laughs)

Bobby: Have you talked to your parents yet?

Brittany: No. They haven't called.

Bobby: You know that you could call them?

Brittany: Well, I think its better if I wait, let them cool off a little.

Bobby: Mm-hmm. I hope you didn't come here looking for an apology.

Brittany: No, that's not why I'm here. You were right. My mom and dad needed to know we're getting married, even if they don't approve.

Bobby: Well, look at the bright side, the ceremony's still a month away. Once they see that we really mean business with this, who knows? They may want to be a part of the ceremony.

Brittany: I suppose it could happen.

Bobby: Mm-hmm. You gotta have faith. These things have a way of working themselves out in the end.

Brittany: So you're not mad at me?

Bobby: For what? Oh, for lying to your parents. Well, I don't think it was the smartest move, but what's done is done.

Brittany: Well, I didn't want to lie to them. I just thought, you know, it wasn't the right time and--

Bobby: I know, I know. You wanted to wait till the right time. I got that. But promise me one thing.

Brittany: Name it.

Bobby: From now on, no more sneaking around, no more hiding anything from anybody. 'Cause we're getting married, and if anybody's got a problem with that, then tough. Can you handle that?

Brittany: I can handle that just fine.

Bobby: Okay. Give me a kiss.

Phyllis: You know what's weird? When we were going down, and it was, like, pancake city, right?

Dru: Tell me about it.

Phyllis: You and me. You and me. You needed me.

Dru: Don't get weird, okay? Don't--don't get weird, Phyllis. 'Cause I--you know what? I woulda grabbed onto anybody in that fit of panic.

Phyllis: Hey, right. Right, right, right. The bottom line...

Dru: Whoo! (Laughs)

Phyllis: Is you needed me. I think it's interesting.

Dru: (Laughs) yeah, yeah, but, you know, people--people forget what they're fighting about when you're gonna drop 21--12--is it 21 floors?

Phyllis: 12.

Dru: 12 floors.

Phyllis: Yeah. You know what else is weird?

Dru: Huh?

Phyllis: When we were going down, a year ago, I woulda thought-- I woulda thought...

Dru: Hmm?

Phyllis: I woulda thought, "I don't want to die." I woulda thought, "I don't wanna die." But now...

Dru: What, Phyl?

Phyllis: Now the only thing I can think of is "I don't wanna leave my son."

Dru: Oh, Phyllis, don't cry. You're a good mother. You're a good--here.

Phyllis: I'm a good mom.

Dru: You're good.

Phyllis: I'm a good mom.

Dru: You're a good mother.

Phyllis: Right?

Dru: You a mother. You are.

Phyllis: I am. I'm a mother.

Dru: Here, let me give-- give you--

Phyllis: Thank--thank you.

Nick: I'm sure you did everything you could to prevent it.

Victor: Not everything. She shouldn't have been on that horse by herself.

Nick: Don't blame yourself for that. Victoria and I were a lot younger than she is now when we learned to ride.

Victor: Son, I know better than that. I shouldn't have let her sit in that saddle by herself, that's all.

Nick: You said there were wasps around. They probably spooked the horse. There's no way you could've predicted that. Now if you're asking me what I think about your relationship with Abby...

Victor: She's my daughter.

Nick: Brad is her father. You can't replace him. He's the one that she loves. He's the one that she's gonna turn to, just like Cassie turns to me. I adopted Cassie as my own daughter just like he did Abby.

Victor: But that doesn't mean that I can't be part of her life.

Nick: But you gotta ask yourself how. There's no way she's gonna feel the same way about you as she does Brad just because of some biological manipulation. And if you are honest with yourself, you would understand why.

Victor: I guess you're right. (Sighs) she was rather distant with me at the hospital. Sort of overjoyed to see Brad Carlton.

Nick: Well, of course. That's the way it should be. He's the one who raised her. I know Cassie wouldn't see anyone else as her father.

Victor: Mm-hmm. I guess she wouldn’t.

Nick: And you can bet there would be hell to pay if anyone else tried to get between me and my little girl.

Victor: (Chuckles) but that doesn't change the fact, son, that Abby is my biological daughter. She even calls me Daddy.

Nick: She's confused. She learned a secret that turned her whole world upside down. But that doesn't change the way she feels about Brad.

Victor: Maybe you're right.

Nick: Look, Dad, Abby will never be your daughter the way you want her to be. And the harder you try and make that happen, the more hurt Mom's gonna be. And she's the one who really needs you right now.

Sharon: As a matter of fact, I have been very candid with my husband, which I'm sure is more than you can say.

Nikki: You have no idea what you're talking about, as usual.

Sharon: I saw how upset Victor was when he learned you were working at Marilyn’s.

Nikki: Uh-huh, when you accidentally let it slip out.

Sharon: I didn't mean to tell him.

Nikki: Oh, give me a break.

Sharon: Look, if you ask me, you should be paying a lot more attention to your husband than Marilyn’s, or you might not have a husband to worry about. Victor hates the idea of you working there.

Nikki: Excuse me? Why don't you take your own advice and stay out my marriage and focus on your husband?

Sharon: Well, I'm only trying to help.

Nikki: Please don't help me, okay? Victor has more than made peace with my involvement at the club.

Sharon: Oh, really?

Nikki: Yes, really. So you can stop worrying your fluffy little head about it. You're already creating enough problems in your marriage.

Sharon: So I should take a page from your book and be supportive of my husband by going out in the middle of the night when he might need me? Come on, Nikki, get real. If anyone here needs to focus on their marriage, it's you.

Michael: Why won't you believe I feel bad for you?

Kevin: You always told me I shouldn't pursue Lauren. Said she was wrong for me, didn't you?

Michael: I simply want what's best for you.

Kevin: What's best for me?

Michael: Yeah, that's right.

Kevin: And you were always so sure that it wasn't Lauren. Why was that?

Michael: I just didn't feel she was the best choice for you.

Kevin: Because...

Michael: Because age, style, life experience.

Kevin: Nothing else?

Michael: I feel like you're pushing for something here.

Kevin: I'm just kinda down, that's all. She was the love of my life, and now she's gone, and there is a big, empty space inside.

Michael: I am truly sorry that, uh, things did not work out the way you'd hoped they would.

Michael: After everything you've been through, nothing would make me happier than to see you happy.

Kevin: Nothing?

Michael: I've never told you this before, but I know what you're going through. Trying to force someone to care--I've been there.

Kevin: Really?

Michael: I am not proud of a lot of the things I did. But I have to say, I'm a better man for having faced up to them. And if there's one thing I know for certain, you can't make a woman love you. Love only comes when she has free choice. And when... when you happen to be the man she wants.

Kevin: Are you saying that Lauren deserves someone better than me?

Michael: No. Where would you get that idea? She has made it very clear to you from the very beginning that she values your friendship, but just friendship.

Kevin: That's because she wants something else-- someone else.

Lauren: We have to stop meeting like this.

Paul: Hey, what are you doing back here?

Lauren: Actually, I just forgot my cell phone. What about you guys? You left before Michael and I did.

Chris: We had some business to attend to before we had a chance to eat. Are you okay?

Paul: Yeah, you look a little uptight.

Lauren: Oh, well, then I guess looks aren't deceiving, are they?

Paul: Why don't you sit down and join us for a second? Tell us what's bothering you.

Lauren: Thank you.

Paul: Michael wasn't being a jerk on his date, was he?

Lauren: No, of course not. This isn't about Michael. It's about his brother.

Paul: Kevin. Uh-oh.

Chris: What has he done now?

Lauren: He's made the terrible mistake of falling in love with me.

Chris: Hmm.

Phyllis: I just went through my first crisis with Daniel.

Dru: Oh, yeah? Did you mess it up, Phyllis?

Phyllis: No.

Dru: 'Cause you're a beginner, you know?

Phyllis: No, no, no.

Dru: You're a beginner.

Phyllis: How's Lily?

Dru: She's okay.

Phyllis: She's just okay?

Dru: But, you know, 16. It's hard, you know, at 16.

Phyllis: Yeah. I remember when I was 16 and my life was nice and simple.

Dru: Phyllis, did I tell you when I was 16, I used to sleep on a park bench? Life wasn't simple for me.

Phyllis: Uh-huh, yeah, you told me. It's not... it's not what Lily has. Lily doesn't have that kind of life.

Dru: Did I tell you her brother ran away?

Phyllis: Her bro-- you mean Devon?

Dru: It's her brother, right? It's her brother. It's traumatic, man.

Phyllis: Okay, all right. Don't yell. What happened?

Dru: The social worker. The social worker found a group home for my kid.

Phyllis: He didn't want to go?

Dru: Hell, no.

Phyllis: Hell, no?

Dru: I didn't want him to go. Lily didn't want him to go. Neil...

Phyllis: Neil. Neil wanted him to go. (Chuckles)

Dru: (Chuckles) Neil, he's like, protocol. Oh, no, and he was doing so good, man. You know, all that anger was just, like, leaving him and then he was starting to feel really good about himself, like our boy. And he was starting to feel like part of the family, like Lily's brother.

Man: All right, hang on in there. We're gonna bring you back up.

Phyllis: Hey! Oh, they're cranking us up. Come on, come on.

Dru: Phyllis.

Phyllis: Come on. Yeah, here. Hold on, hold on. Oh!

Dru: Oh, man. Oh, man.

Mac: There's something I still don't get.

J.T.: What's that?

Mac: Why'd you agree to be a part of Brittany’s scheme in the first place?

J.T.: I don't know. Beats me.

Mac: Oh, no, no, that's not an answer. Seriously, why'd you do it?

J.T.: I don't know. I guess I just got roped into it. Hey, don't look at me like that. You know how manipulative she can be.

Mac: And I know how stubborn you can be. If you don't want to do something, that's it. You don't do it. But this time it was different. You did.

J.T.: I don't know what to tell you. I guess I just felt sorry for her, you know? I wanted to help her out.

Mac: You still gonna be in the wedding?

J.T.: I guess. She hasn't let me off the hook yet.

Mac: See, there you go again.

J.T.: What?

Mac: Well, you act like standing up for Brittany is gonna be such torture, and I know how much you hate bobby, so why did you say yes?

J.T.: 'Cause she kind of blackmailed me. Anyway, what do you care? What's with the third degree?

Mac: I'm just trying to figure you out.

J.T.: Well, you can stop trying. I'm not that complicated. Look, to tell you the truth, I wish I'd never agreed to be in this stupid wedding in the first place, but, you know, I can't back out now. Brittany would kill me, and that's all there is to it.

Mac: All right, whatever you say, J.T.

J.T.: What's that supposed to mean?

Mac: I just think this whole thing is weird.

J.T.: Are you saying I shouldn't be in this wedding?

Mac: No, that's not what I'm saying.

J.T.: What are you saying?

Mac: You do whatever you want. It's fine.

J.T.: Mac, come on, what--

Mac: No, really. Just forget I brought it up. It's cool.

Brittany: Bobby, we have to talk about the wedding.

Bobby: How much planning goes into one of this things?

Brittany: A lot. You have no idea how much work it is.

Bobby: Well, I'm sure whatever you decide is gonna be just fine.

Brittany: Well, thank you, but it would be nice if you were involved, too.

Bobby: Yeah, but I'm no good at any of that.

Brittany: How do you know?

Bobby: I just know. Picking out invitations and floral designs, it's, you know...

Brittany: Don't say it's women's work, or I'm gonna smack you.

Bobby: I wasn't gonna say that. Just I wouldn't be any help, 'cause you're the one with style, anyhow.

Brittany: All right, fine, but there is something I need you to do for me.

Bobby: Okay, name it.

Brittany: Tomorrow we have a meeting with the minister.

Bobby: Oh, ho, ho, what kind of meeting?

Brittany: He wants to talk about us, ask us a few questions.

Bobby: What kind of questions?

Brittany: You know, about us, our relationship. Don't worry. I've known Reverend Palmer all my life. He christened me. He's really nice.

Bobby: Yeah, I'm sure he's really nice, but talking to a man of the cloth isn't exactly my cup of tea.

Brittany: I know, but we don't have a choice.

Bobby: What do you mean we don't have a choice?

Brittany: Reverend Palmer won't marry a couple unless he's sat down and talked with both of them about where they are, you know, spiritually.

Bobby: Oh, boy.

Brittany: I'm sure it won't be that bad.

Bobby: Does he know that I run this club?

Brittany: Actually, he doesn't even know you're you. My mom set this meeting up a few weeks ago back when she thought I was marrying J.T.

Bobby: So he thinks you're marrying a college kid. What's he gonna do when he sees me?

Brittany: It'll be fine. I'll just tell him... well, I'll say that my mom...

Bobby: What?

Brittany: (Laughs) okay, fine, I don't know, but that's my problem. I'll come up with something before tomorrow morning.

Bobby: Oh, I'm sure you will. Yeah, I don't know about this.

Brittany: Oh, Bobby, please don't say no. I really want Reverend Palmer to do our wedding, and his schedule is so busy. If we don't see him tomorrow, I don't know when he'll be able to fit us in again.

Bobby: Oh... all right, I'll do it.

Brittany: You will?

Bobby: Yeah, I'll do it.

Brittany: (Laughs) oh, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Bobby: See the things that I do for you?

Brittany: Well, just you watch. Reverend Palmer is gonna love you. I know he will.

Nick: Dad, you may not realize this, but every time you try and get closer to Abby, it's like a dagger in Mom's heart.

Victor: There's no reason for her to feel like that.

Nick: Yeah, but you don't get to decide that. Mom's feelings are her feelings. Maybe you should just try and acknowledge them more.

Victor: I do. I love your mother. She's so damn insecure that she sometimes doesn't realize it.

Nick: Well, then maybe you need to make it clearer.

Victor: What do you suggest I do?

Nick: I think you know what you need to do. Look, Dad, you and me, we're cut from the same cloth. I know how you feel about Mom. It's the same way I feel about Sharon. I love her with all of my heart.

Victor: I'm glad to hear that, my boy.

Nick: It's funny, the things you get from your parents. Because like you and Mom, I always seem to find my way back to Sharon. But it's not easy. It takes work. You may not realize this, but your fascination with Abby is pushing Mom out of your life.

Victor: That's the last thing I want to do, but you must understand that this is not just a one-sided thing, you know? I have to be honest with you. I'm rather upset by the fact she's shown this interest in that strip joint. It bothers me, but I certainly don't want to push her away.

Nick: I don't like it either, but I know that Mom needs you right now.

Victor: You've given me a lot of things to think about, my boy. Thanks.

Nick: No problem.

Nikki: Do you see Victor here? No, because he's at the Rec Center, so obviously he didn't feel the need to come running home to me to cry on my shoulder about Abby.

Sharon: Well, maybe he didn't think that you would be sympathetic.

Nikki: Why would that be?

Sharon: Well, you have been kind of self-absorbed lately.

Nikki: And he hasn't? Believe me, if there is anybody in this house who has needed support from their spouse lately, it's me.

Sharon: Well, you know, Victor does his best.

Nikki: Victor does exactly what he wants, and right now that means pursuing a relationship with another woman's child. It doesn't matter what I might be going through.

Sharon: What are you going through?

Nikki: Sharon, it's none of your business!

Sharon: Nikki, how is anyone supposed to help you with that attitude?

Nikki: I don't want your help. Don't you get that? It does not concern you. I'm leaving. Good night.

Phyllis: Oh, my. You know, Drucilla, what you did for Devon, maybe it didn't last long, but who's to say, you know, that it didn't stick with him, that made you made a better man out of him, right?

Dru: Yeah, that's logical, Phyllis.

Phyllis: I know. I'm logical, I'm logical. I tell people, hey...

Dru: (Laughs)

Phyllis: It was good. Dru, it was good. You're a good woman, what you did for him. I don't care what anybody says.

Dru: Yes, I am!

Phyllis: Oh, my God! For sure! Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my God.

Man: Everyone all right in here?

Phyllis: Oh, yeah.

Dru: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Phyllis: Oh, oh, my... thank you.

Dru: Thank you, baby. (Laughs) oh, wait a minute. (Laughing)

Man: Smells like a Tijuana nightclub in here.

Phyllis: (Laughing)

Dru: Hey!

Phyllis: Hey!

Dru: (Laughing)

Phyllis: Oh, my God. All right, um, that was interesting, right? Here, this will be yours. This one is mine. So, um, I'm gonna take the stairs, of course, and get a cab.

Dru: Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna go upstairs and make a call.

Phyllis: All right. I'll see you later.

Dru: (Chuckles)

Phyllis: See ya.

Dru: Bye.

Phyllis: Bye.

J.T.: Heading out?

Mac: Yeah, I have an early class in the morning.

J.T.: I wonder what's taking Brittany so long.

Mac: Maybe she stood you up.

J.T.: Yeah, probably. That sounds like her.

Mac: Hey, are you gonna stick around here for awhile?

J.T.: Uh, you want a ride home?

Mac: Yeah, it beats taking the bus.

J.T.: You know what? Yeah, sure. I've given her enough time. Let's get out of here.

Mac: Okay, cool.

Brittany: Hi, J.T. sorry I'm late. Hi, Mac.

Mac: Hi, Brittany.

J.T.: Where you been, Britt?

Brittany: I was with Bobby. I lost track of time.

J.T.: So you're still talking to the guy, huh?

Brittany: You two thought Bbobby and I were fighting?

J.T.: Never mind what we thought. What do you need me for?

Brittany: It's about tomorrow morning. You know that meeting my mom set up with me and the minister?

J.T.: No, no, that's not gonna happen. I'm not going to that.

Brittany: Just hold on.

J.T.: No, you hold on a second. Enough's enough. I'm not pretending to be your fiancé anymore. This is out in the open. Our deal's off.

Brittany: Would you please be quiet and let me finish? It turns out, I don't need you anymore. Bobby's going to be there.

J.T.: Oh.

Brittany: Yeah, oh. You can unclench now.

J.T.: This is probably gonna be a first for the old reverend, one of his flock marrying into the mob. I hope the old guy has a bullet-proof vest.

Brittany: Forget it. I don't know why I even bother.

J.T.: Hey, relax. I was kidding, Brittany.

Brittany: Good night, J.T.

J.T.: Hey, would you come back here? She needs to learn how to take a joke.

Victor: Sharon, is Nikki home?

Sharon: Uh, no, I'm sorry.

Victor: Oh.

Sharon: She's not.

Victor: Huh.

Sharon: Is everything okay? You seem upset.

Victor: Um, I just wanted to talk to her. It's been a rather trying day.

Sharon: Because of what happened with Abby?

Victor: That's part of it, yeah.

Sharon: Anything I can do?

Victor: No, very sweet of you to offer. I think I'm just gonna turn in.

Sharon: All right. Well, have a good night, and if you need anything, just call me.

Victor: Thank you. I appreciate that.

Sharon: Okay.

Victor: Good night.

Sharon: Good night.

Lauren: So now it's gotten to this point where Michael’s had to do something.

Chris: Since Kevin wasn't getting the message from you.

Lauren: Somehow "I don't have romantic feelings for you" has turned into "shower me with rose petals, and maybe I'll change my mind."

Paul: Well, at the very least, the guy has good taste in women.

Lauren: I wish I could see the humor in this.

Chris: You know, in a way, it kind of is understandable. You were really his only friend during all his legal problems.

Lauren: Yes, but I never expected him to become infatuated with me. His new motto seems to be if, you know, I just try long enough and believe hard enough...

Paul: That you'd welcome him with loving arms.

Chris: Lauren, it sounds to me like you're describing an obsession.

Lauren: That's what I'm concerned about, so I've been very up-front with him. I told him that nothing is ever going to happen between the two of us.

Paul: You think you got through to him?

Lauren: I don't know, but, of course, now he's facing another disappointment.

Paul: You're talking about your relationship with his brother?

Lauren: Yeah, Michael was gonna sit down with him tonight. I mean, actually, they could be talking right now. I just... I just hope this doesn't send Kevin into another tailspin.

Chris: What do you think he might do?

Lauren: I'm not sure, but he's not exactly the most stable person on earth.

Paul: That's hitting the nail on the head. Lauren, listen to me. Don't take any chances. We all know the guy's history. There's no telling what might set him off.

Lauren: I'm afraid of that, you know? It's odd, 'cause when he's with me, he's funny and charming and remarkably sweet, but deep down... he's really messed up.

Michael: I guess being just friends isn't enough.

Kevin: How would you feel? How you feel if the woman of your dreams told you that's all that she could handle, being friends?

Michael: I told you. I know how you feel. It happened with Christine.

Kevin: You and Christine, huh?

Michael: Mm-hmm. I beat my head against that wall for a lot of years. You didn't know that, did you?

Kevin: No.

Michael: It's the pits, but you survive.

Kevin: I guess so.

Michael: Look at me. I'm still here. Listen to me, Kevin. I know you're still in pain, but sooner or later, you're going to have to get beyond this.

Kevin: Forget about Lauren? Is that what you're telling me?

Michael: No, no. She's still your friend.

Kevin: Yeah, did she tell you that?

Michael: Lauren and I talk. I know how she feels.

Kevin: I'll bet.

Kevin: I just have to stop thinking about her all the time, fantasizing about her, you know?

Michael: Exactly.

Kevin: Accept that nothing is ever gonna happen between Lauren and me.

Michael: Mm-hmm, that's good.

Kevin: Yeah, yeah. Uh, yeah. So, uh, how long have you known her?

Michael: Quite a few years. We used to hate each other.

Kevin: Wow, a lot of things have changed, huh?

Michael: Meaning?

Kevin: Uh, nothing. I just... you know, you guys seem to get along well is all.

Michael: Yeah, we do. It meant a lot to me that she stood up for you.

Kevin: I guess that's why I always had hope, but that's gone now. So how well do you know her, Mikey?

Michael: Why?

Kevin: I'm just curious.

Kevin: You always told me that I was wrong for her, that she wasn't my type and I wasn't hers either, you know? But she is one terrific lady.

Kevin: You might want to think about taking a second look yourself, you know, keep it in the family.

Kevin: Uh...

Michael: You never cease to amaze me, you know?

Kevin: You know, it was just a thought, all right? I gotta get out of here.

Michael: Hey. Are you okay?

Kevin: Yeah, yeah, I'm good. It's just... facing reality, you know, it's just a new thing for me, but I'll get the hang of it.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Neil: I received a visit last night. Devon's been found.

Anita: How could you lie about being engaged to my daughter?

Damon: They might let him go free.

Phyllis: That's not gonna happen.

Damon: You don't know that.
