Dru: It's about to get a whole lot less poisonous because Kevin Fisher is going to prison, and we can put this whole ugly episode behind us.

Neil: Lily too?

Dru: Lily too, yeah of course, Lily too. This has been like an open sore, and she can start to heal.

Neil: Yeah, but, honey, does it bother you that Fisher most likely will go down for something other than what he did to our daughter?

Dru: Not one single bit. What he did to Brittany Hodges was horrible, but no less horrible than statutory rape.

Neil: Yeah, poor Brittany.

Dru: Look--

Neil: She's gonna have to live for the rest of her life with that scar on her face for the whole world to see.

Dru: And thank God Lily won't have to be with a scar for the rest of her life, but he did give her a sexually transmitted disease, and thank God she can get over that.

Neil: My baby girl.

Dru: Honey, I gotta say it out loud. I hate Kevin Fisher. I just hate him. That may be wrong, but it's the way I feel, and I'm not gonna pretend, and if electrocuting Brittany Hodges brings that boy down, then so be it and good riddance. Now I know that log says that he's minding his P's and Q's these days. Whatever. All I know is that another little girl is not gonna have to go through what our Lily did because we helped take him off the streets.

Lauren: You know what, guys? This is getting us nowhere. Paul, we need to know what you're going to do.

Paul: I made that very clear, and you agreed. I need to make sure that Kevin doesn't do any more harm than he has already done.

Lauren: But you said that, and then you didn't go to the police.

Paul: And how do you know I didn't? (Laughs) of course. Michael and his spies?

Michael: Actually, you know my spy very well. So answer the question. Why didn't you rush down to the precinct? How could you let the wheels of justice spin without your assistance?

Paul: Well, it's very simple. I didn't want to put Lauren in a very tough spot. She would have to tell the police everything she knows. So you see, I am not made out of stone. Besides, I figured out a different way to deal with it. I went straight to Kevin instead.

Ashley: To answer your question, um, I had a paternity test, and Abby does carry your genes.

Victor: So what am I supposed to do now?

Ashley: You don't have to do anything, Victor. That's not why I told you.

Victor: Why did you decide to tell me?

Ashley: First of all, Abby is a really happy little girl, and Brad and I adore her. He has been her father in every single way that matters. Frankly, I just couldn't live with this secret any longer. You know, when she was a baby, I thought you'd never have to know. I was wrong.

Victor: I wish you had never told me. I wish I didn't know, because I don't think this revelation is gonna do anything but destroy lives.

Ashley: I don't know how the whole thing got so damn out of control. I'm really sorry. I wanted a child.

Victor: But, Ashley, in this sterile way, in this nonhuman way? Why didn't you just come to me and ask me?

Victor: You know that I've never stopped caring for you. Why didn't you just come and ask me? Why?

Nick: Detective, come in.

Hank: Look, if you're busy...

Nick: No, it's cool.

Hank: Great.

Nick: What's up?

Hank: Well, this is about the Cameron Kirsten investigation.

Nick: Any leads?

Hank: No, nothing worth talking about.

Sharon: Well, honey, if you two have something you want to discuss, I'll just head on home.

Nick: No, you should stick around. This involves you.

Sharon: What do you mean?

Nick: You want to find out what happened to the guy, too, right?

Sharon: Oh, well, yeah, of course I do.

Hank: I just have a few more questions about the night Mr. Kirsten disappeared.

Nick: We told you everything we know.

Hank: Indulge me, okay? I just want to make sure I have my facts straight.

Sharon: Don't you have everything that we've said written down in that little book of yours?

Hank: Yes, ma'am, but sometimes it's the smallest thing. A sentence, even a word can take on new meaning when looked at a second time.

Nick: Anything in particular you'd like to go over again?

Hank: Exactly where were you the night Mr. Kirsten disappeared the last time you talked to him?

Nick: At the New Yearís Eve party.

Hank: And you claim you went back to your office to work on a proposal of some sort.

Nick: I didn't claim. I did come back to my office.

Hank: And your wife?

Nick: What about her?

Hank: When did you see her last?

Nick: Right after I talked to Cameron. I told her I was coming back here.

Hank: Is that correct, Mrs. Newman?

Sharon: Yes, that's right, but you already knew that, because I already gave you my statement.

Hank: And after that you were with your mother-in-law, is that right?

Sharon: Yes.

Hank: Until late?

Sharon: Yes.

Hank: Okay.

Nick: I'm sure my mother can back up Sharonís story.

Hank: That's just it, Mr. Newman, she didnít.

Nick: What are you talking about?

Hank: Well, when I questioned Nikki Newman, she was pretty evasive. I had the feeling she was giving me the runaround.

Nick: You mean, she didn't tell you that she was with Sharon that night?

Hank: No, not in so many words.

Sharon: She was. Maybe you should talk to her again.

Hank: Mrs. Newman, what's your relationship with Grace Turner?

Lauren: You went to Kevin?

Paul: You know, I don't understand why I'm such a bad guy. I gave him a chance.

Michael: To what? To run, to ruin his life?

Paul: No, to act like a man. I told him to turn himself in.

Michael: Well, he didn't listen to you. He ran. He's gone.

Paul: Okay, well, he should have listened to me, because the courts might have gone easier on him.

Michael: How? By giving him 29 instead of 30 years? We're talking about a kid who can't handle a tight space for ten minutes!

Paul: You know, Michael, he might of thought of that before he went on a crime spree, but the truth is I didn't want Lauren to face the grand jury. It had nothing to do with not going to the police.

Michael: No, no, no, you figured if you freaked Kevin out enough, you told him that the only woman he's trusted in his life betrayed him twice, that he'd run, that he'd blow it forever.

Paul: That's not true.

Lauren: We have to find him. We have to find him before this preliminary hearing.

Paul: You've got a lot of money at stake here.

Lauren: But that's not the point. Please, will you help us find him?

Paul: And how do I do that? I already know he doesn't have any credit cards, and his cell phone has been disconnected. I'm a private investigator, not magician.

Michael: You knew there was no statute of limitations on bail jumping. This one's gonna follow Kevin around for the rest of his life, and one day it's gonna nail him. And there's no messy need for proof then. They just throw him in prison.

Paul: That's exactly where he belongs. What do you want me to do about it, not go to the police about his confession? Just forget about the whole thing? I could lose my license. If he has left town, I have to say something.

Michael: You've got what you wanted. He's a fugitive.

Lauren: What Michael is saying is right. You've really made this worse. You have frightened him into running.

Michael: And you don't think that was an accident, not likely would it be too much to ask you to wait? Don't go to the police. Give the poor kid a chance to face the music on his own.

Paul: Can you look at me and tell me that you think he's gonna do that?

Michael: Paul, he might. Just for once, let him decide his own fate.

Paul: You know something, Michael; it would have been nice if he had given Lily and Colleen the same respect. I don't think I should be listening to this.

Lauren: You said you did this to protect me. Well, now is your chance to prove that.

Paul: Lauren, I have to do what's right. I'm sorry.

Lauren: And I have to do what's right, too, and I need to show Kevin some compassion.

[Neil remembering.]

Neil: I'm Lily's Daddy. I am her father, and you, son, you've got no business having a girl of her age up in your apartment. Do you understand that?

Kevin: What makes you so positive that she was here?

Neil: Because her... her friends told me that she was here.

Kevin: Well, her so-called friends would say anything to get lily in trouble.

Neil: And you'd say anything to save your sorry behind.

Kevin: As you can see, I have nothing to hide, sir.

Neil: Except your age.

Kevin: Mr. Winters, I'm not ashamed of the fact that I have a friend--

Neil: Well, you should be! Do you even know how old Lily is? She is 15 years old, which means if you lay a hand on my daughter, it's called statutory rape. You touch my daughter one more time, you gonna wish that you never met this black man, 'cause I'll make sure you go to jail for a long time, do you got that?

Kevin: Yeah.

Neil: Yeah, yeah?

Neil: Wait a minute. No, that can't be.

Gloria: I don't know why you want to dig all this up again.

Kevin: Dig it up?

Gloria: Yeah.

Kevin: Dig it up? It was never buried, Mom! It just sat there festering, and that, folks, is how we get a Kevin Fisher.

Gloria: Don't be melodramatic, sweetheart.

Kevin: Don't, don't don't call me that.

Gloria: Why did you come here, Kevin? What do you want from me?

Kevin: I don't know. I don't know. I had a girlfriend. Well, who am I kidding? She wasn't my girlfriend, but, um, I trusted her, and she let me down.

Gloria: Well, I'm sorry, but I don't see what that has--

Kevin: Shh, shh, shh! On her worst day, Mom, she never let me down the way you did.

Gloria: I know I wasn't a perfect mother.

Kevin: Do you have any idea how imperfect you were?

Gloria: Well, be that as it may, I've put it behind me.

Kevin: Just like that, huh? Just like that. You turned me into what I am, and then you wash your hands of me? What, like I'm a batch of cookies that you burned, Mom?

Gloria: What do you want me to do?

Kevin: Sometimes, Mom, sometimes I think you should die. That's what I think sometimes.

Nick: Thanks. Sorry. So Grace has been to see you?

Hank: Mr. Newman, suppose I ask the questions.

Nick: Meaning, she has?

Hank: Does that bother you for some reason?

Nick: Look, Grace Turner is a raving, jealous lunatic who won't leave us alone. She has hassled us at our home, this office.

Sharon: I know she thinks I killed Mr. Kirsten. In fact, I'm sure that's what she told you, but it's absurd.

Hank: Well, apparently she's Mr. Kirsten's girlfriend.

Nick: If you can believe her.

Sharon: Yeah, for all we know, she's just some kind of stalker.

Hank: What makes you say that?

Sharon: Well, Cameron is a wealthy and successful man. I'm sure he has his share of groupies.

Hank: Did he ever mention Ms. Turner to either one of you?

Sharon: No, he never mentioned he was seeing anyone.

Nick: The point is she has an agenda.

Sharon: Yeah, she's always been a little wacky.

Hank: Always? Then you didn't just meet her?

Sharon: No, no, I've known her for years, since childhood.

Nick: Grace has caused problems for Sharon and me in the past.

Sharon: And apparently she's up to her old tricks again intruding in our lives and acting like a crazy person.

Hank: But to accuse you of murder?

Sharon: Well, you have to look at this logically, Detective.

Hank: What do you mean?

Sharon: Why would I kill Mr. Kirsten? I mean, where is my motivation?

Hank: That's a good question, Mrs. Newman.

Sharon: I mean, unless I were having an affair with him, but... is that what you think?

Hank: I'm only looking for answers, ma'am.

Sharon: And I hardly even knew the man. I mean, everyone close to me knows that, even grace.

Hank: But you helped him plan the New Yearís Eve party.

Sharon: Which I did mostly on the phone. I hardly spoke two words to the man when I was at the party. The idea that I would kill him or even harm him is totally insane.

Hank: Mr. Newman, do you agree?

Nick: Of course I agree.

Sharon: I have a husband and children. Why would I jeopardize my family?

Nick: So she has no motive. And what about opportunity? Did she shoot or stab this man? You don't even have a body.

Sharon: And believe me, Grace Turner is not playing with a full deck.

Nick: And if you insist on hassling my wife about this anymore, the Newman family will be going to the police commission about it.

Hank: Well, I have no further questions for the moment, but do me a favor.

Sharon: What's that?

Hank: Don't either of you leave town. Good day.

Brad: Do you think Ash is still in love with Victor, always has been?

Nikki: Brad, you don't want me to answer that.

Brad: Nikki, come on, you can tell me. You think everything I had with Ash was a lie, don't you?

Nikki: No, I think that she loves you as much as she's able.

Brad: But I run a distant second to Victor?

Nikki: No, I wouldn't say that, either, but I do know that Victor will always own a piece of her heart, and she'll always have a part of his.

Brad: Maybe, or maybe this could change everything.

Nikki: Yeah, like we'll both lose our marriages.

Brad: That could happen, or it could mean the end of Ashley and Victor. He may never forgive her for this, Nikki, never trust her again.

Nikki: Well, aren't you the optimist?

Brad: It could happen. There are no more secrets anymore. Everything's out in the open. This could be a whole new beginning for you, for me, with the people we love.

Ashley: You don't know how many times I've asked myself that same question. Why didn't I just go to you and ask you?

Victor: Do you have an answer?

Ashley: I knew I wanted a baby. I hadn't decided I wanted it to be your baby. And then when I found out what Diane was planning, I intended to tell you, but you were away. I didn't think it through. I didn't think of all the implications, Victor. But then the procedure was successful, and I was pregnant. I've never been so happy. That's when you and I started dating again.

Victor: Even then you were carrying my child?

Ashley: I didn't tell you. I didn't think I could tell you. I had fabricated a story, and I didn't think you needed to know.

Victor: So when we were dating, you kept this from me? In other words, you were lying to me. You deceived me.

Ashley: I didn't see it that way. I thought I was protecting you. And then I realized, even back then, you were going behind my back, and you were fighting with my brother, and you were trying to destroy my father's company, and I got it. It would never work for you and me, and then I was glad that I hadn't told you.

Victor: But why me? Why did you want me to father your child, why?

Ashley: I guess I needed to be whole again. I desperately wanted to feel whole again, Victor. For so many years I had this empty place here. For so many years, ever since I gave up my baby.

Victor: Are you talking about the abortion?

Ashley: You see, I never forgave myself for that, and I just had this cold, dark place in my heart. The child that we should have shared... oh, God. Oh, God, forgive me. That's why I did it. I don't even think I realized it until now. That's why I did it, and that's why I chose you. I wanted to fill that cold, empty place in my heart.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Gloria: You think I should die?

Kevin: I've thought about it.

Victor: Youíre beautiful Abby is my child.

Ashley: Don't make me regret telling you.

J.T.: I owe you so much, Shiloh. You and...

Shiloh: Colleen.

J.T.: I just realized I haven't even thought.
